one good use for healing breeze that i’ve seen (i’m not a guardian myself) is that it will proc the trait that grants you retaliation on heal multiple times.

a buddy of mine uses it for a tank build to get at least 15 seconds of retaliation with that one skill use.

i run a sword and board build with 30 points in the arms tree. a huge amount of my killing power comes from the trait last stance.

really in WvW i’ve only ever put 10 points in the strength tree, and that’s just for the death from above trait.

also it’s my personal opinion that bolas are better then bulls rush.

Vengeance should not result in death.

i’ve used vengeance to res most of my party in a dungeon wipe.
to stall a zerg so my allies can get away in WvW
to revive myself in pve in orr

things an ele can do with their mist form down skill
-remove conditions, get away, interrupt stomps

things and ele can’t do in mist form from downed
-save your allies, revive people, operate siege, stomp someone

vengeance is quite a bit more powerful then the thieves teleport or the ele’s mist form.

honestly i look at people trying to change the warrior class with quite a bit of disdain. there are far far FAR more pressing problems on a lot of the other classes then to worry about your pet peeves.

instead of trying to press your own little ideas of what would make X better. how about you press instead for some bug fixes.

or at the very least present your suggestions to the suggestion forum.

mango pies when laying siege to something. they are cheap to make and if you already have the recipe to make the trays then you can make 100 of them for about 1-1.2 gold.

fire flank steak, another cheap one to make and buy for when you are roaming.

i choose these two because they provide a large return on the cost to make them and i often find myself having to follow commanders to make sure that everyone has buffs on them at all times. (even then it seems that too many people would rather pass up free 1hour buffs for not having any buffs at all. but acrasia is a totally different topic)

if that happens then it still did its job, (i also carry balanced stance as a utility)

i’m not usually waist deep in an allied zerg though, i’m normally running in a 2-6 man group. so getting ambushed by rangers and thieves is pretty common.

but even if i was a zerg heavy warrior, it would still be useful because when a group is getting crowd controlled, the first opening seconds of it (the most important part) you are not. so rather then being thrown off the battering ram, you get to keep hitting the door. when the cats start flying as you rush into a tower you are the one who gets to actually get all the way to the siege and disable them for your team.

also if you have both balanced stance and last stance then you can chain them for 16sec of stability. this is half of a small engagement right there, or you can spread them out so that the initial crowd control in a fight gets eaten by last stance, and when you go to stomp someone you activate balanced stance.

like MiLkZz said. bull rush warrior comes in, hit him with bolas, walk behind him and smack him a few times. flurry him and he dies. bonus points if you string it out so it takes forever and he has to sit there helpless while you wail on him.

earlier when flipping camps 6 other people and i steamrolled a lone under leveled guardian SBI defender. i applaud his bravery in fighting us, and for trying to provide a vital service to his map when no one else would.

after that 2 people that where not part of my group (random unguilded players) started jumping on his corpse. everyone in my group told them to stop, made it very clear that that kind of behavior isn’t alright and asked them to please show some class.

these kinds of players that show themselves to be bad sports are in every server. so to are players that are paragons of honor and fair play.

don’t judge a server too harshly by the lowest members of its population.

nah, make the sniper kit have a really high range (2,500) but have really long cooldowns on the main attack and a cast time.

that way you can generally get one shot off, but not more then that if you are by yourself. and if you have two or three sniper engineers coordinating then you can blow up a single target instantly.

Burst Damage: A waste of my trait points

so far arena net is becoming infamous for their nerfs

-90% burst damage nerf for warriors, -50% damage nerf on dancing daggers for thieves, greatsword nerf on rangers, grenade kit nerf on engineers. i’m sure there are others but the point is

arena net does not nerf by degrees, they do it with the claw end of the hammer.

so on the SBI borderlands a little while ago in the middle of a zerg to take back the yaks bend tower i found a stormbluff necro norn commander.

after a near suicidal chase into the heart of and all the way to the very back of the enemy group i finally managed to down you before two thieves killed me and rallied you.

much respect. your group did a really good job of suppressing us and keeping us from holding any territory. i saw you like 3 times after that keeping vital objectives just out of reach.

warriors sprint isn’t actually all that good of a trait. it only boosts your speed by 10%

the reason you take [death from above] over [berserker’s power] is because of the nature of WvW having lots of drop points. the fall damage reduction opens up a lot more avenues of travel as well as serving as an incredibly potent defensive tool.

the main reason you would spec into discipline is for the burst damage and fast hands minor trait. this build isn’t about burst damage, its about sustained damage and control. if it works for you then that is fine but a lot of the kill potential of this build is found in the trait [last chance] which lets you down someone quickly and then stomp them.

i don’t know of any warrior builds that rely on conditions, granted i can’t claim to know every warrior build.

now i’m going to make some assumptions here. you are lv 80. you have a full set of soldiers gear, a full set of knight’s gear and a full set of zerkers gear.

wear the knights armor, use the other set of your choice for your jewels. zerkers if you want more burst or soldiers if you want more survivability. (soldiers is better)

do this for WvW 10/30/20/10/0.
strength – death from above
arms – furious reaction, blade master, last chance
defense – missile deflection, last stand
tactics – stronger bowstrings

now for your utilities you want; bolas, balanced stance, signet of stamina, signet of rage

let me break down really quick how this build works. you are there to distract and support your team. you aren’t a zerg member, you are a hit squad tank. with signet of rage and savage leap off of your sword you are going to be at the front of whatever 6 man squad you are in. long story short you are going to be pretty mobile.

mobility is what this build is all about. namely the theft there of from your opponents. you savage leap onto opponents and hamstring them/flurry them/bola them, pinning shot them/ shield bash them. abuse your superior mobility, i’ve killed zerker HB warriors this way before without ever taking a single hit by just chaining immobilize and standing behind them as they flail helplessly. (works great for thieves too)

when taking a camp you can take enough hits to gather the entire camp on you at once while your allies kill them, under shield stance you can also walk away from this at a pretty high health.

when fighting thieves (seriously this build is made to kill thieves) nothing is more fun then watching a ranged thief kill themselves on unload spamming. immobilizing a backstab thief and chaining the immobilize into their death. because of bleeding you can usually see them again before they even render back in because of the bleed ticks. against dagger storm thieves just get right up on them and immobilize them with flurry and watch them melt as they are unable to do anything because of their own dagger storm. against pistol dagger thieves don’t even worry about them, a knights soldier hybrid warrior is way to tanky for them to ever take down with burst. just savage leap away with signet of rage and leave them in the dust to cry at their own impotence.

i think that last stand is a must for the warrior in WvW

if its mobility you want then the sword does this much better then the axe does.
a 900 range leap on an eight second cooldown. an aoe cripple (debatable whether this is better then throw axe) and i know a lot of people don’t believe it but the sword has very very good ratio’s. you won’t be doing that much less damage then with an axe, and probably better sustained damage over time.

i run a full set of runes of fire for the fire aura, leaping into a zerg and burning/bleeding everyone has served me pretty well for WvW. when they are all focused on you that’s when you throw up the reflective shield and waltz away.

the hammer would not need to connect with a target to complete the auto attack chain

rifle auto attack doesn’t cause bleed, does more damage to compensate

mace auto attack is faster and causes weakness at the start of the chain

i run a power/precision/toughness hybrid build with condition damage as an extra.

10/30/20/10/0

using the sword and shield and longbow as my main weapons i’ve had a lot of success in WvW as a warrior. the thing to know on a warrior is that strait damage is kind of your thing. that said a little extra condition damage is never to go amiss.

i could go pure damage and do more direct damage, or condition damage and have my bleeds tick for more. but i’ve found that if you split the rations at about 70/30 in favor of direct damage you actually do more damage over all.

i’m assuming that what you want is a WvW build (because this build isn’t very good for pve) and if that’s the case i should tell you that this builds gimmick is all about control. you leap onto one person, tank the aoe and take that person out of the fight. you immobilize them at range with the longbow, leap on them, immobilize them with flurry or bolas and hamstring them.

a lot of people assume the sword is all about condition damage. on the off hand sword that is true. on the main hand sword it is completely wrong. the longsword has incredible ratio’s and a lot of utility, really the bleed is just icing on the cake that is the longsword (with food buffs, traits and runes an incredible potent icing)

i play WvW. i have a lv80 mesmer, warrior, necro and engineer. i also explore in pve and do dungeons. i don’t do spvp or tpvp

pve and dungeons; 6/10 eng, 6/10 mes, 10/10 war, 8/10 necro
WvW; 3/10-7/10 (dependent on build) eng, 8/10 mes/ 8/10 war, 8/10 necro

to be more viable in pvp you would want to put the remaining 10 points in tactics and get the leg specialist trait. this would let you immobilize for one second an opponent every time you throw your axe at them or hit them with ankle shot.

dolyak signet is not very good. signet of stamina out shines it in every single regard.

signet of might isn’t very good either. i believe that at max level it gives you plus 90 attack. [FGJ] gives you 105 extra attack and condition damage and it gives you fury AND it spreads the love to up to 5 of your most immediate buddies AND it can be traited to heal you for no less then 1k health and up to 2.5k health.

i have to give props to CD’s necro’s on eternal battlegrounds.

running with the badgers [BS] taking umberglade constantly from you guys playing the game of resource denial. your necro’s have proven to be the biggest threat when flipping camp and i know that i personally have died to them on more then one occasion this night.

for sword warriors if you can give their bleeding back to them you can usually mess them up pretty well.

it’s fairly easy to extend the bleed on a sword to 15 seconds, with your superior condition damage you can make the large stack of bleeding he gives you hurt him more then it ever could hurt you. with your large number of skills that grant protection you could outlast him if it looks like its about to turn into a long fight. just throw down a spectal wall and kite him through it a few times.

you can also chill him and run away, using fear to make sure he stays away. other then that i’m not sure how to help you as i don’t usually play against necro’s.

one thing is that i know necro’s do incredible damage with D/D. but i don’t think this is a very effective pvp build.

There are those who think warriors are balance while calling every else whiners , bad players ignoring the facts we are referring about traits, skills and etc.

It even hurts more when those proud prideful so call warriors think the class is balance ignoring what J.Sharp the developer himself said about warriors in Game of state video saying warriors are at a disadvantage.

Cry me a river nevertheless the gameplay of warriors overall needs to be improved for pvp and the same goes for other professions seeking to play other builds in pvp.

this is purely personal opinion, but warriors need buffs like engineers need nerfs.

that said i became a warrior after leveling an engineer to 80 in WvW, a necro to 80 and a ranger. try any one of these classes and come back and complain about warriors being weak, or you know… don’t

i’ve yet to meet an engineer that would tell you that you are specing wrong. we have a lot of diversity in our builds and every engineer has at least a few builds that they use for various different things.

take a look at what traits you have and decide for yourself what you like. i will say this however, flamethrower is a lot of fun for leveling, and bomb kit can cause some serious pain on mobs if you can get them to chase you.

people are always trying to play warrior in pvp like they do in pve.

theory craft all you want, in pvp you are playing against real people who behave in a different way then mobs do in pve. building yourself for 3500 attack with 3200 defense and 30k hp isn’t going to be as effective in pvp as theory crafters believe, and when that fact confronts them they get upset.

the warrior is in a pretty good place, probably one of the best places compared to every other profession in the game.

with the high mobility of the sword i can leap into enemy zergs, inflict massive amounts of bleeding damage, shield stance out and switch to longbow to keep up the aoe pressure when i’m waiting on cooldowns to heal.

the longbow also compliments the sword and shield nicely with the 3 second immobilize. you can hit them at range, land bolas on them, leap onto them and hamstring them, then flurry for even more immobilize. being immobilized for this long usually means death for any commanders i can find.

i believe he used the burst skill on the long sword main hand [flurry]

at max adrenalin it has a pretty lengthy immobilize. i use sword and shield myself with the bolas traited for just that reason. if i can catch a thief i can root him in place for something close to 10 seconds.

the big main problem i see with warriors is that a lot of people try to use the same weapons, traits and gear that they use in PvE for WvW

i know its not what you really want to hear, but to play a warrior effectively in WvW you maybe need to reevaluate how you have been playing and alter it to account for human targets.

In WvW if you want to win as a warrior, you need to find your individual strength, and know how to press your advantage.

i’m an adamant sword an board warrior in WvW for about a month now

i’ve tried a few of the other weapons, greatsword, duel axe, axe and mace, mace and sword, sword and mace, sword and axe, hammer, rifle.

when i finally settled on the sword as my main weapon there was no other choice but the shield. not only is it iconic but the utility both hidden and obvious are amazing.

leap finisher, invulnerability, reflect, added toughness, good looks. the shield has it all.

even with kaineng owning all of the maps, and spawn camping, and constant zerging (you seriously sent three golems to take back a tower we flipped?) i’ve still had a lot of fun fighting them.

there are a few disconcerting things i’ve seen them do though that i’m surprised anyone would do.

-standing in AoE- why would you stand in a giant aoe field until it kills you? this isn’t even something i’ve only seen a few times. this is something i’ve seen pretty much every fight. IoJ never did this, CD doesn’t do this and Maguuma certainly didn’t do this

-complete glass cannon- if you are under leveled then that is fine, but it is usually better to go for toughness in that instance anyway. i’m talking about people that are clearly using the same builds they use when farming cursed shore. no utility, no condition removal, no rapid movement, no stun breaks. yeah they hit hard, but they also die to the freakin lv80 guards.

i’m hoping that any kaineng commanders reading this take note and fix this. i don’t like fighting groups of pve’ers. it just doesn’t feel right.

Strongest Class in World vs World?

my vote is for Warriors followed closely by thieves and mesmers.

a good sword and board warrior can keep up with a roaming thief, target a class and jump on them in the middle of a zerg, down him. sometimes stomp and if he is lucky get away. the only other class that can do that is a thief. unlike a thief however the same warrior is still tanky enough to man front line siege, charge camps and tank buffed supervisors.

on my warrior i run with a thief and a mesmer in my party. both of them know that i’m tanky enough to protect them when taking camps. i charge in, hit stability, and hit everything, throw up my shield and when they are all together in a group my team members can burst them down in seconds. this works the same on towers as well.

when you are in a team having a good warrior you can depend on maximizes your own damage, warriors in their own right do great damage and so long as you aren’t some idiot all signet greatsword warrior you can do well in 1v1 fights too.

(seriously, 5 signet warriors are basicly free kills. as a warrior it makes me sad to see them, even on enemy servers)

i’d really like it if the asian and oceanic players could get their own servers. i’ve got nothing against them, its just that when a server has a large oceanic presence it seriously imbalances a match against the many other servers that don’t.

WvW was never intended to be totally fair, but it would be nice if that applied just to positioning and individual players. not to who has all the asian and oceanic players.

everyone agrees that engineer needs some far reaching damage buffs, cooldown quality of life fixes, bug fixes, trait mergers, trait fixes, aoe changes, that turrets need to be tougher and do more damage, and that we need better elites and to have RNG removed.

"Static Discharge" nerfed?

1st: I think the devs are checking the DoT AoEs to be nerfed, so dumb warriors stop complaining they die at gates (WvW), either way they might be thinking of nerfing it just in WvW.

2nd: Static discharge is not AoE IMO, because there’s no field, no circle, it’s simply a projectile that ricochets.

3rd: if they ARE actually going to nerf it, then they MUST fix it first, because there’s like 5 skills that make it work correctly: the rifle turret’s toolbelt, throw wrench, net shot from net turret, the utility goggles’ toolbelt and the ram… and none of these is actually USEFUL by itself, it NEEDS the static discharge to actually be viable, any other skill (especially throws) WILL result into firing the ground so… first FIX then I’ll accept a nerf.

ANet devs are those dumb warriors. Buffing the already OP Warriors because they die on gates. Who knows, that could be the same reason why they nerfed grenades.

Anet Dev playing Warrior: Crap that, there’s too many red circles in the gate because of those Grenade Engineers! Let’s decrease their population even more!

honestly as an engineer main i would have to say that ele’s probably do have a lot to be worried about in this patch. there is no guarantee whatsoever that if they nerf your AOE that they will buff you in any regard in other area’s.

personally i’ve learned to fear patch notes. but on the other hand, the patch hasn’t even come in yet, so there is no telling what they will do, and they won’t tell you before hand. so all you can do is wait, and even if ele’s are going to be nerfed severely worrying about it won’t help either.

people love to shout down others suggestions with the cry of OP, but it seems to me that rarely do these people have any idea what they are actually talking about.

overpowered would be if we could get and maintain 20 stacks of might, over powered would be if we could easily spec for 100% crit chance, if we could survive 10 glass cannons wailing on you for 20 seconds, if it took 20 something people to stop you from contesting an area, if we had a stun break on a 10 second cooldown, if we could spec for perma invisibility.

asking for a defensive trait for an offensives weapon kit isn’t anywhere close to those other suggestions, asking for a defensive trait for a support weapon also isn’t anywhere close to those other suggestions.

So what if we DON'T get buffed?

arena net can track who is playing what class and what the over all class diversity is like on a server. if they suddenly notice that less then 10% of all players are actively playing engineer at any given time then i should hope that that raises some kind of red flag for them.

in pve i use a sigil of speed for my greatsword. in orr farming i can rack up 2 minutes of swiftness easily and effortlessly.
