I would LOVE to be able to block the Eternal Coliseum… I’m getting this kittenty map like 50% of the time, and I hate it so much. Meanwhile, doing 6+ hours of pvp a day dosen’t seems enough to get Spirit Watch at least once…

You probably know this, but if not, Spirit Watch is not on the list of playable maps in Ranked pvp. If you are playing un-ranked than that is a pretty long streak to not get a map to show up.

I got stuck twice lately. Once at Coliseum mid. Not even sure how. Before I realized what happened I healed myself up and they quit attacking me. (stupid mistake) I typed the /stuck command but nothing ever did happen. I sat there the last 2 minutes or so before the match ended.

Next time was Kylo mid. I got pushed into a wall by a ranger and got stuck. This time I was lucky enough that they killed me off. The ranger apologized and all was good. I’m just glad this is being worked on.

Just to clarify, I always accept my responsibility for losses. I don’t think there are any conspiracies, even when losing 8 of 10. I usually follow a losing streak with a nice streak of 8 of 10 wins. I try to learn something from every game to try and make myself better.

I also know top stats do not mean much. As has been said, it’s easy and rather expected to get 1, 2 or 3 every game, even if not making a big positive impact on the outcome. I’ve also had games where I know I played well and made big contributions and had no top stats.

The game I posted the screen shot, I didn’t feel I played particularly well. I did what I could to try and win, but losing 500 – 136, things obviously aren’t working very well. I was very surprised at the end of the game to see I had all 6 top stats. It just pointed to me that I was probably rated much higher than the rest of my team and I felt bad that I wasn’t able to carry better.

It was interesting enough to me to take a screen shot. Then the next day I saw this post and my game was an exact fit to this topic. It doesn’t mean anything other than occasionally you will get a strange match-up for whatever reason.

I agree, top stats do not tell the whole story. Sweeping all 6 though? I’m not that good, but I was on a different level than the rest of my team. Which is what this post is all about. We lost 500 – 136 and I went -16 rating.

Can’t stand Forest or Foefire. It actually offends me that Foefire is listed as my “favorite” map when I never vote for it . I hate it’s mid and how ranger friendly it is (I know, l2p, blah blah, still hate it).

That being said, I would rather play a map I don’t like as much then deal with longer queue times because everyone has different maps blacklisted.

Lol, funny you say that. I have Forest listed as my favorite map and I NEVER vote for it. It actually bothers me to see that! lol. It should be changed to “Most played map” or change the favorite to whatever you vote for most. (Developer priorities right!)

As far as dev responses go, don’t expect to see any. They are very rare. That’s not to say they don’t read the forums, because they do. They sometimes make changes based on player feedback if the changes make sense to them. Just remember, changes take time and have to fit withing their balance vision. But they do listen to player feedback, even if it doesn’t seem like it.

It’s balance. Kill your opponent before they kill you. That means cleanse more or kill faster. I’ve been killed WAY faster to power bursts than any condition burst.

I had a ftp ranger on my team that never left lbow and never had a pet out, probably because he didn’t even explore the world to unlock anything good. He admitted he was a ftp player. I’m not just guessing. This was in platinum 2.

Firstly – There is no need to flat out lie to make a point. It is not even possible to not have a pet out. You choose a pet at character creation. It is automatically out when you join the world. Even if you try to stow it, pretty much anything you do brings it back out.

Secondly – By your statement, you just made a case that vanilla specs can indeed at least make it to platinum 2.

So I’ve been playing with these latest builds. I know I have a lot of learning to do to improve (I’m in low gold right now) I seem to do better with long bow rather than s/wh. (Always have staff loaded.) I love warhorn but the sword just seems lacking to me. I feel like I would do better with a melee weapon on point though.

My question is, why not GS in place of s/wh? Evade on the AA chain. It seems the LMT trait and QZ would help with landing mauls. It has mobility with swoop. The block and knockdown on 4 and the cc on 5. What am I missing that makes the s/wh better? Honest question.

I’m all for making communication better / easier. There is a lot I would like to communicate during a match but my typing skills while trying to actually play are, well … horrendous. Some quick clicks or hotkeys as you suggest would be fantastic.

There would have to be some limitations on the audio ping though. I could see people spamming it and it could become another source of toxicity. Overall great idea and I hope something like this gets implemented.

Condi Scourge dps is currently really strong. I don’t think anyone is debating that? So, if it is already very good, why do you feel the need to make it better? That is exactly what you want. As strong as it is now, having some issues generating LF, what would it be like if LF was generation was easy? This is a good balance.

Because PVE is a thing, and bosses don’t die in 5 seconds there. Burst damage is nothing if you can’t maintain it. Best regards.

I actually agree with you. And I think what you said about staff will end up being the optimal rotation with Scepter / X.

According to the class subforums all but a few are complete junk….thoughts?

You cannot judge by the class sub-forums. Every single one is filled with complaints on how bad their elite is and how strong all the others are. Think about that for a minute.

They will all be fine in the end. I’m positive many will receive tweaks before launch.

I could also see people changing mains. People may be somewhat bored with their current class / build and didn’t connect with their new elite. But they may have found something very enjoyable in another. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that and it should really be expected.

On a personal level, I normally spend most of my play time on core Ranger and Reaper. I’m really liking Scourge but am unsure of Soulbeast at the moment. I also could never get into Engineer before but I’m loving Holosmith.

MachineManXX.9746

there’s a big difference in an elite spec that expands a class’ playstyle and an elite spec that goes absolutely against what a class is designed for.
thief is and has always been in its core, a melee glass cannon, extremely agile and using dirty tricks to get the upper hand, as backstab or poisons.
this spec is absolutely the contrary. you fight from a distance an are 100% static. I never liked the idea of riffle and even less now that I’ve tried it.

That’s your interpretation though of the old days, every class get’s their playstyle expanded – just look at necro with scourge losing its shroud and gain more mobility, if that isnt a big change then what? Everyone is passionate about their class, but in the end there are changes to all classes.

But as far as I can tell, just thieves are not excited or happy with deadeye. the other classes seem more excited, but thieves rather disappointed.

Lol, have you looked at any of the other class forums? EVERY one is full of the same garbage. “My elite sucks” … “Need a complete overhaul” … “We are useless garbage now!” … “RIP insert class name”… “This is NOT how we are intended to play!”

It’s funny and sad at the same time. It takes time to see how you can make the spec cater to your play style. Things will get better tuned before launch. And in the end, if you can’t make it enjoyable, then don’t play it. Not every elite will please everyone.

Was playing full glass LB + GS with Smokescale and Brown Bear.

Won multiple 1v2/3, landed a couple 17k Mauls.

I enjoyed winning the 1vX’s more than I did playing the spec, if that makes sense. 2 more skills and a little more damage didn’t feel very exciting to me.

Also, you can’t combo F4 with Smokescales F2. The field remains after you meld but it doesn’t seem like you can combo with it.

And I’m noticing that I get knocked out of Beastmode sometimes. I may be fat-fingering the F5 but it seems to happen when I’m low health. Willing to accept it may be just me, but just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this as well.

About being kicked out of beastmode while low health, did you “Eternal Bond” trait? If you take damage to be downed, it kicks you out of beastmode and heals you a bit instead.

Also the list is a bit wack, the player base is shrinking terribly.

Thief alone is a bad sign without players like Caed, Muffins and Areoxe on it. ( unless i cant read and missed it)

Lets not put out a serious list of the best players in the game when a big percentage dont play anymore and/ or have been banned from the game.

Season 8 best players are 2-3 legendarys followed by a bunch of players in gold3 /plat 1 even though they really are gold 1 but dont know it since about 5 people are qued at the time with in there skill range.

If they don’t play any more or have been banned, then who the f are they? They don’t exist. Why would anyone care who WAS good when talking about season 8?

Theres nothing fun in sloting a forced cleanse only becuase a bomb condi dealer is around, in other words, its a counter that its not fun to play.

Actually, you seem to be missing the point. If something is problematic for you, then counter it. That’s kind of the name of the game. Choices. Give and take. Condi clear DOES improve your build. If you would rather not run condi clear, then you risk dieing to condi. Live (or die) with that decision but don’t start crying about it not being “fun”.

Just to add. You absolutely do not need Ascended gear unless / until you get into high level fractals, which may or may not ever appeal to you. Don’t feel behind. The difference between Exotic and Ascended is very minimal. The game is balanced around exotics.

Having said that, you may eventually work towards that gear. It does take a long time and a significant gold investment so it does serve as a good long term goal. When you do start, I would recommend starting with trinkets (rings, amulet etc.) first. Then weapons, then armor last.

Questions about the Elementalist.

MachineManXX.9746

Everything Panda said seems to hold true in my experience as well, with the exception that I’m pretty sure scepter and dagger are actually very close in dps.

Staff really shines with a stationary target. Most of its spells are ground targeted, so if things are moving around, they will move right out of your damage. This also makes soloing more difficult with staff. If you move away to try and kite, the monsters will follow you … right out of your damage. Otherwise, you have to stand up with the target to keep them in place, negating any ranged benefit anyway.

Scepter is actually comparable damage to dagger, but with 900 range vs. the 1200 range of staff. It’s also much easier than staff to land it’s full damage on targets that move.

All three weapons have associated meta builds, so you really can’t go wrong. Try all three and choose what works best for you, though it sounds to me that scepter may be what you are looking for.

HoT zones are a big step up in difficulty. I think everyone faces these same issues at first. I think just getting used to the new areas and monsters will make the biggest difference in survivability and enjoyment. Figuring out which monsters do what, and what to really avoid will make things much easier. Having said that -

Adding some Marauder gear (Power, precision, vitality and ferocity) can make a big difference in survival without giving up too much damage potential. A defensive rune set would certainly help too.

As for Guardian, they have quite a bit of access to blocks and defensive boons and can be surprisingly survivable despite their low health pool.

Here is a Dragon Hunter build I used and had alot of success with. You can obviously make changes to suit your playstyle, but this should give a good starting point on how to add some survivablilty and still maintain good offense.

Use Greatsword for up close and personal combat and switch to Scepter / Torch when you need a little space.

Hope this helps!

Gliding is essential but after that, many of these trains will accomodate newer accounts that do not have other masteries unlocked by providing mesmer ports. I would suggest hanging out in Verdant Brink and keep checking the LFG tool until you find one.

I know one guild [HP] that runs these trains every Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 1:00 am server time. Open to the public and they make sure not to leave anyone behind, even newer accounts with few masteries.

Why Raid Asc. vendor not requite crafting?

pvp and fractal vendor require you to craft these 500lv craft tokens. That made it way more expensive now.

So why raid vendor dont requite that ?

Its not because its time-gated, as getting fractal pages is also time-gated for example.

Isnt it unfair?

Let’s do some math.
Ghostly infusion price is 1000 Magnetite Shards + 20g. You can sell it for ~250 gold in trading post. That makes ~200g profit for 1000 Shards. 20 silver for a shard. Ok.
Cheapest armor piece is 150 Shards + 5g that equals to 35 gold for gloves or boots.
As you can see it is already very expensive.
I didn’t mention 150 shard cap per week. There is a lot of cheaper options in game.

So, what are these cheaper options?

Health System 2.0

MachineManXX.9746

Why do so many people feel the need to make drastic changes to a game they play? This game is what it is. The need for continued balancing will always be there, within the system the developers have created.

You say things like,

“how ANet can improve and rework the Health System of GW2 properly”

Properly? Really? There is a proper and improper health system now?

And you say,

“Personally I strongly favor the concept idea of making Game Balance for GW2 alot easier and also alot lesser overenriched/complex and more multi character friendly again like GW1 was by removing the obsolete pointless design of Gear Stat”

So dramatic … Gear stats are not “obsolete pointless design”. I personally don’t give a rats kitten what you strongly favor. This is GW2, not GW1. They are different games.

You act as though Anet never put any thought whatsoever into their system. They just went with whatever whim came over them at the time. Simply put, you do not know the game better than they do.

Myself and many people play this game because we like it. If and when the developers make big changes then so be it. I trust them. It is their game after all. They, more than anyone else, want it to succeed.
