Lorynne – 80 Guardian
[PB] – NSP
There’s no evidence so far that it doesn’t…..and if there is it’s just baseless speculation. U could very well state iluminati is inside that egg and when it hatches what will come out of it is death on a unicorn that spits out double rainbows out it’s ahole while singing oprah.
Sounds like that poor unicorn had an unfortunate accident with The Bifrost. I’d be willing to dislodge it so long as I get to keep it, a dirty job yes, but worth it “in the end” I think. Huehuehue.
Ewww, hadn’t noticed that in any of the other pics. Was going to get the armor for my Female Norn Guardian too. Hopefully ANet will touch that up some how. It’ll drive me bat poop crazy if they don’t =p.
Luckily the little fleas are easy to squish, and their stubby little legs makes them easy to catch. The nasty ones usually taste better too.
Question. I haven’t started the new story yet, but will the behavior that is happening prevent me from completing the story? Blocking achieving some other non story or post story achievement?
I wouldn’t say it will block it per se, but it can make parts a bit more difficult. Certain bases don’t receive much support if a lot of the people on your map are at the base where a lot of chests spawn. This delays your ability to complete some achievements faster.
Thus far I have not had a big problem, but I need to kill a certain legendary boss that only spawns randomly, and only when a certain base is held by the players. The base (Redrock) seems to be the least cared about for a lot of players, at least it’s the one I see not in pact control most often. Also, once the necessary events are completed people tend to jump down into the breach event that they are at, which means that if a base didn’t have many people defending it your chances of killing the boss are diminished. Again, at this point it hasn’t become impossible yet, I’ve only failed on two bosses (one where it’s a group of two champs, we got one but not the other) and the other at the aforementioned Redrock base.
I believe the concern at this point is that as the week wears on, and we move into next week, more and more people are going to have all the achievements they need. It may then become very difficult to get any of the achievements at any base but the Amber base (The one where people are farming chests). This is by no means a guarantee, but I can see why some people are concerned.
Edit, I was thinking the achievements, not the story portion. It won’t really affect your ability to complete the story portion, more the Silverwastes achievements.
Here ya go, this one was made a while ago but is still relative to this conversation. I take no credit for it either.
My name is Styles, and I support this Thread.
After playing 2 years of WvW
Bird, I’m fairly sure you were damaged when you got here… Just saying.
vote that the strawhat should be sold at the TP as headgear without costume (for both genders though)
(edit=never post before your 3rd coffee)
Pump that coffee man. It’s dangerous out there, take this
Just to add my $.02 to this one, though it has been said before I wanted to put it in as ANet has said they are looking for player feedback.
I liked the old system, I tinker with my Mesmer a lot as far as traits, as for the new ones that were added since I stopped playing and now have come back, haven’t unlocked them, probably won’t, not sure it’s worth the investment. As for how the new system causes me to interact with my new characters, I would describe it as frustrating. I’ve never been one to have a lot of extra gold, so spending what I do have on extra traits is unlikely. And going out to try and farm them from events is not something I’m particularly interested in, more work isn’t what I’m looking for, I want more fun.
Honestly, thinking about what to unlock, sitting staring at my trait window debating on whether or not to spend the gold, deciding not to (cause I’m saving it for legendary things), and then starting to figure out where to go to farm the trait, has caused me to just log off the new character and back onto one of my 80’s more than a few times. I would say that if a new system causes people to stop playing characters it is a disaster. I went from enjoying leveling new characters to being frustrated by it to the point of not doing it.
I enjoy tinkering with new trait builds and seeing how they worked in actual dungeons, or WvW (Let’s be honest you can almost not trait for a large portion of open world PvE content). Now I just worry about wasting the gold, or my time grinding out the new traits. Why waste my time grinding out a trait I may abandon in a day or two when I can spend that time grinding out map completion, at least the map completion gets me closer to that gift of exploration (man map completion makes my brain hurt :P).
I’ll agree that not having to pay for the trait resets is very nice, I enjoy that greatly, but I would gladly go back to paying for resets if it meant having all the traits available on my lower level characters.
As for the new system of locking story behind leveling, and the other changes I’ve encountered with the NPE system, not a fan either. It again has caused me to shelve my low level characters. I would say overall the system has failed, in my case. Again, my $.02.
I think that this is an excellent idea. It would help ANet go on the offensive instead of always being on the defensive after changes have gone in. Also coming right out and saying “Yes, this change had this downside, but we felt it was the best of a few unfavorable choices” will help a lot of people look at things from ANets perspective as well as their own, and first impressions are very important.
Post mortems on changes could be a great thing. They could also be an official spot for feedback on changes and serve as a centralized place for the Dev’s to see that maybe there was a better way to implement a change and gather the ideas needed to make a quick improvement on a recent change. Let’s face it, none of us are perfect and maybe there’s an idea out there that’s better than what was originally come up with and developed and getting those ideas quickly and easily can’t be a bad thing.
While I know this point has been made, I simply wanted to add my voice to the conversation. The old system was good, I like the idea of being able to type in the exact amount of gems you would like to buy, but it really wasn’t difficult to figure it out on the old system. I would like to suggest that the old system be brought back, it can exist along with the new one, that’s a good idea. Remoiving the old system just seems like a silly decision though. Less choice is rarely a good thing.
If it’s red, it’s dead. That is the motto of PvP, it’s a trial by fire, it’s the nature of a PvP environment, isit not? I don’t kill you to stop you specifically because I’m trying to be mean. I’m killing you because that’s the point of this game mode. I generally don’t emote or throw siege, that is mean spirited, but I play WvW to play against other players, to take other players territory, and to defend my territory against other players.
I guess we all see it a bit differently. The players are the challenge in WvW, they are what make it difficult to get world completion for the WvW portion. If you are found by other players then you failed the challenge, unless you can kill the other players. I don’t know that it’s fair per se, I guess that’s for another discussion, but personally I enjoyed, embraced, and conquered said challenge with some dedication, teamwork, and opportunistic behaviour. If I can do it I would say so can others. If you’re struggling to achieve it on NSP then let me know, I’m willing to help and I have a solid guild I’m in that I’m sure I could convince to lend you some help as well.
I don’t know about other servers (since I have never been in another one) but on YB we defend the keeps with TONS of siege we take unless its an easy matchup (like the current one for us).
If you don’t mind me asking what is your current server?
I can confirm YB’s obsession with siege. However, I would say you still use a lot of it even in the easier matchups (like the current one for you).
Paper is fine, Rock is OP. -Scissors
Cows go “MOO”, Dogs go “WOOF”, MMO players go “PvP is unbalanced”.
Those are just a couple of things I’ve come across in my time of gaming, I thought they were pretty amusing, just thought I’d bring them here real quick before I add my thoughts to the discussion. Also, please note I take no credit for either of those statements, all credit is due to whoever it is that came up with them.
That being said, I’ve found that, as others have stated, Condi builds have their upsides and downsides. While they are powerful in smaller group engagements they tend to scale poorly as the groups get larger. I’ve found the same with power based builds, while you get condi’d to death without much of a chance in smaller group engagements your effectiveness scales well as the group size increases. That extra damage you provide, on top of the others in that larger group makes the little bit of a difference to burst down those enemy groups. To me it’s been a trade off, do I want to be more effective in smaller or larger group settings? Personally I’ve been tinkering with gear and builds to find something that makes me effective in both, while still being able to survive you friggin thieves while trying to get to my group (Total L2P issue here, working on it by getting together with guildies who are great at thief and dueling them 1 on 1 to improve my skill and timing against them).
To me it seems to be a trade off, very similar to a rock/paper/scissors style of play. I would say enjoy the challenge of finding something that makes you viable in both types of play and then rely on your skill to make up the difference in small group play. I would devote my extra time to learning to counter those hellish condi builds rather than complaining to get them changed, it would likely be more effective, and you’ll probably have fun doing it. Who knows, you may even come up with that build that everyone copies and makes the condi roamers cry next. I mean isn’t that where most of these builds that are now “meta” got their start, as a counter to the previous meta, someone came up with a strong counter measure and once the previous meta was getting stomped everyone jumped onto the next one. It’s a never ending cycle, we just need to adapt, overcome, and improvise to stay competitive and effective in that cycle.
I have had this problem recently as well. I have been paying close attention since it popped up to see if I was revealed (I was guessing this was the case) but found that the times I felt I wasn’t revealed that I was in fact not. I was also still being tracked by players as though I wasn’t stealthed, so I don’t think it was merely graphical in my case.
I have, however begun using the staff in my newest build along with IE and more shatters now. From what I’ve gathered from posts here my best guess is that I’m hitting the occasional ill timed WoC bounce or a late shatter from a staff clone who took their toot sweet time getting to the target and happened to pop right back out of stealth as I hit it. I’ll start being a little more careful about the WoC bounces and shatters and see if that clears up the issues I’m having.
I will try to look for for the notes about this for you, but it is not a bug as far as I know, it is intended, and it happens to everyone.
It makes it harder for the map hopping mega blob to all port in to a BL from their current location to a totally different map and wipe the group attacking. It’s still more than possible to port in and defend but it now requires more coordination (which blobs tend to lack) and will naturally break up those mega blobs, at least a little bit. Not perfect, but adds a little strategy, you have to better time moving around the BL’s to port in and defend.
I liked when my guardian was lvl 75ish and I had my vitality and toughness lines full with toughness and vitality gear. I was like a thief magnet, they were like fleas popping out of stealth and spamming heart seekers on me, bouncing all around me. The funny part was I wouldn’t die and the glass cannons on my team would wipe them. Nothing like laughing at a thief on an up level.
Indeed, I had to under clock mine just to get it to run, but some people are brave folk. I wouldn’t personally even OC a desktop, let alone a laptop. As I said risky business.
Mobile cards are not the same as regular GPU. So something like a 660M is much less powerful than a real 660 card.
I’m running this game with i7 4770k at 3.5~4.2GHz (Auto OC function via Mobo; I don’t feel the need to manually OC it higher yet), 16GB RAM, and NVIDIA 780. I still get some minor FPS drops during large events but that’s probably because of my internet connection lagging behind with loading every single detail and action from other players and mobs. I’m using 50Mbps cable service via WiFi which is fast but unstable at times.
I just wanted to say I’m pretty jelly, and a little mad to bro… :-P
Op, you’re having issues of some sort. I have a Sony VAIO laptop running a Q770 i7 quad core at 1.73 GHz and an NVidia GT425M graphics card that I had to tune down to keep my laptop from crashing (known issue with the 400 series of mobile cards), running 6 gigs of RAM. I run on medium settings with shadows off and will sit around mid to high 30’s outside of zergs and probably around mid 20’s in the LA zergs, sounds like you’ve got much better hardware than me too.
I would, as others have suggested, clean everything out, open up as much of your computer as you’re fully comfortable with doing and use some compressed air to clean away the dust. Make sure to focus on cleaning out the fans, heat sink fins, and case vents. You will also want to make sure your graphics card drivers are up to date. Check the manufacturer’s website, they generally make it pretty easy to update (NVidia has an auto detect feature which will check which card you have and your driver version, and let you update it from there). If problems still exist watch your processor temps, you may have some broken down thermal paste causing overheat issues. Monitoring those temps can help point you in the right direction, though your description would suggest a GPU concern. If temps are stable you may try over clocking your GPU, but that’s a risky endeavour, in my book at least.
I hope you can resolve your issues, good luck!

I’m not the biggest fan of the ambiance of the zone, as I find it difficult to see things on my monitor, but I think it fits, things on fire, a deadly miasma (my asthma, buh dum tss) building up, makes sense that it would be hard to see.
As for headaches or adverse effects physically, I’ve had none yet personally. Then again I’ve not run more than 3 in a row yet, and I’ve only done that twice now.
But there’s a thief over there and I has to chase it…….
This guy gets it.
Oh, and it’s spelled haz…
PU mesmers slot alot of stealth and ppl hate stealth. I don’t blame them standing there or flailing about waiting for an unseen opponent to unload on them makes for bad gameplay.
My problem with their stealth here is that it BYPASSES revealed. I know what you’re thinking, how do you know? I threw down a stealth disruptor trap on a Mesmer and pulled him into it. He could still stealth despite that. THAT is overpowered, to where something that’s supposed to stop stealth (I use it to gank thieves who have been annoying me with constant camp flipping) will not effect them.
I would report that, I use a PU type build when in small groups and I can say with 100% certainty that it reveals you, because it happens to me.
Northern Shiverpeaks is doing quite well right now. We’re mid tier I believe and just moved up a tier this week and are doing well thus far. We have a multitude of guilds and some that are dedicated to WvW. My guild, Phoenix Battalion works currently with 3 other guilds on different nights and is working to start teaching guilds that are PvE oriented therroles in WvW to get our large PvE player base more involved. You can see a little about us at Northernshiverpeaks.org.
As for the guilds who are serious about WvW [Os] is a serious bunch who focus on open field rights and can bust zergs like Gallagher busts watermelons. [ZoS] runs a tight group who are always there to help take or defend an objective if you need them and again, who have the skills to bust just about any zerg or blob you come across. [TFG] is a dedicated group who always seems to be doing whatever it takes to make sure we are doing as well as we can in EBG.
Overall I’d say NSP is a good destination, you can find good sized fights with the servers we face, while also still being able to run smaller groups and find smaller groups to fight, it’s not always zerg battles. Check us out.

The Sylvari who says more Violets less Violence is at the Vigil keep. She’s right by the dungeon gear vendors. Heard her today.

I got 1600 on the first day in my first overflow on NSP. It happens, just not in every one. I think up until this point a lot of people have been trying to complete a the achievements as well, and to get some of them you have to focus less on people saved and more on a specific thing. I think as more people complete all the achievements we’ll see more people work towards maximizing citizens saved.
The other thing I would suggest is start getting people on our servers TS, if we really want to maximize citizens saved we’ll need to be coordinated and the tool has been provided by a player who cares very much for our server and works very hard to see us succeed. Hop on that TS, encourage others to do so, and I’m sure you’ll see greater success..
If you’re on NSP and don’t know about our website and TS server PM me and I’ll get you the info you need to get on them.

Guild Wars 2.
Guild Wars 2: The Molten Crusade
Guild Wars 2: Wrath of the Pale Tree
Guild Wars 2: Catacombs
Guild Wars 2: Mists of Cantha
Guild Wars 2: Warlords of Elona
Mists of Cantha is when we’ll finally get Tengu, or KungkittenPanda’s, but either way its win, am I right?
Indeed, I’m lucky in that I’m only missing one and I’ve never tried the Moa escort, so I know which I need, but maybe stack it like the daily, where it’s one achievement, but it tracks each event sperately. Especially with how it was/has been a bit quirky, if it tracked each escort separately that would be easier to deal with.
Good suggestion OP.
Just wanted to lend my voice to what Boom said. As an officer of a guild on NSP since launch I can say it’s a great server with a great community, except for BirdSong of course, but every circus needs its clown and we are glad we have Bird. We love even you Bird.
If you’re looking for a good mid tier server with a growing and hard working community that works on coordination and cooperation NSP is the place to be.

I never thought I’d see the day Dulfy didn’t know the answer to something. And to be honest I thought of checking your site to look into, until I read your name. :P
Sadly I don’t know. I’ll ask around in guild chat tonight and let ya know if I hear anything.

Ogden used a staff
By Ogden’s Hammer, what blasphemy!
While I certainly won’t rant and rave about how great the servers GW2 is hosted on I will say 2 things in ANets defense here.
1) Things are much better than they were at launch, many noticeable improvements have been made.
2) ANets servers have been getting DDOS’d recently (at least some US servers). That may also be an issue.
I will say though that last night, immedeatly following a EoTM reset things got horrible for us everywhere, and it would be kind of a coincidence to get hit immediately following a reset considering it’s not the first time I’ve seen issues like this just after EoTM resets.
This thread has some serious win potential, I can feel it.
But yes, it seems there are some concerns that do pop up regularly, maybe you have some merit to your idea OP.
He he, I was just poking fun at ANet’s poor word choice, while they were right in the thread they posted the way they went about talking to us was awkward at best.
I’d definitely click on support up at the top of the page and submit a ticket with as much detail as you can, what you described is completely different, I’m sure they’d appreciate any details you can give them to help them iron out this bug.
In the mean time, back to some fun.
We’re sorry you find numbers confusing DeWolfe, we understand how hard it can be on build days with our not broke high login numbers. We have confirmed the que is not broke though, it just doesn’t always show the right number, which doesn’t mean its broke, cause it’s not, it just means it’s not showing you you’re actual position. The actual que, that isn’t broke, that you don’t see, that works right, is working right, FIFO is how it works. We’re sure when using the que you’ll find this to be true. Wait, what? You got a question pop, a message the BL was full, and then had to re-que? We’re going to lock this thread now to avoid any more confusion due to high login numbers on build days.
Don’t worry guys, it’s not broken, it’s probably just a build day and you’re probably just confused. It’s not broken, the numbers just aren’t always accurate because of high login numbers. But just because it’s not working right doesn’t mean it’s broken, because its not. Just to clear things up. OK?
Not broken.
Dorian, is the person from NSP? If so please PM me their name so I can get them pointed out to the server. I know a lot of our guilds would shun this tactic, and I want to make sure we’re not unknowingly taking advantage of this info by following a commander who is being fed any info this way.
If it’s someone from FC I’m sorry to hear it, we’ve had a few people who are known from other servers that throw troll siege and waste supply on us, it stinks and I empathise with you in either case. If there is something I can do I will.
Well, I would suggest using spotters, similar to how the military uses people to call in artillery from quite a ways away. If you plop a couple guild members on cannons and get them targeted to the general area you can then give them directions (I.e. a tick right and a little more power) to rain down some devastating AoE’s onto a battle. We do it quite regularly with treb’s and mortars when defending points in WvW, the cannons actually give you even more range which means an even more effective weapon. It takes some teamwork and probably a bit of practice though.
Troll cannons, hehe. I guess that nerf to vigor from crits hurts even more now.
Yes! And I want to buy legendary footsteps as well. We can call them “footprint” to distinguish them from “footsteps”. Everyone knows this is clearly different. I’d like add the frostfang footprint on my left foot, and the incinerator footprint on my right foot. Ok? Just make it happen.
And I want the title “I won the game more than others”. Because obviously, I did. Whatever it was that I won, I won it more. Naturally, I’ll pay more for this title than the mere “I won the game” title, which is clearly inferior. I will look down on those petty inferior titled players and shout “ha!” – or something similarly witty.
Just remember not to buy the “I won the game” title when it goes on sale, cause that means the “I won the game more” title is coming out in a few weeks for 200 more gems than the “I won the game” title originally was. But as soon as that happens the speculation for the “I won the game the most” followed by the “I won the game xXMLGpro1337MountainDew420StyleDorito’sXx” title, which, of course I’ll hold out for and get. That title will also cause many people to “Never buy gems from ANet again!!1!1”. It’ll totally be worth it though.
Go play sPvP if you want perfect balance.
<snip>And be forced into a point capture game mode.
WvW offers more enjoyable pvp than PvP itself. I would love normalised stats in an open world pvp environment.
Whoa, kind of cut out a lot of what I had to say there, including the part where I said I understand your point.
The issue with your statement of “I would love normalised stats in an open world PvP environment” is that it swings both ways. I would not like it, for the reasons I stated before. The thing is, if they were to normalize stats you would have two game modes that offer your preferred style of play (from a stat standpoint) while I had none. As it stands now we each have one, though sadly I will agree with you that sPvP isn’t nearly as enjoyable as WvW, and I do empathise with you guys on that.
I would say the gap isn’t really too big between just a short amount of time put in and a large amount of time (at this point at least, I do agree with Juno that we don’t want a huge gap) to be completely impossible to overcome via skill, which is all people who want normalized stats are seeking, skill to be the determining factor, not gear/stats. That is my personal opinion/experience though.
Yeah, but…
Well, ummm…
What about…
Uhhhh…
Dang.
Also, I do agree that there does need to be balance, and it may be that guard leech, and applied fortitude, and ascended do need to be balanced. The change of crit damage % to ferocity is a result of this and I think it’s a good thing. I’m just against a complete normalization of things.
Indeed Elmo, it is much more rewarding to make yourself a better player. But, is a normalized playing field needed to become better? As someone who competes in WvW without ascended gear (don’t honestly intend to get it) or guard stacks (I’ll get them some day, working towards it) I focus on making myself good enough to beat someone with them even though I’m without them.
People seem to harp on the idea that a power creep is for people who want an advantage, I don’t necessarily want an advantage, in fact, with my family I simply don’t have the time to acquire said advantages in many cases, I like the goal. I also like the challenge provided by facing someone who has those advantages over me and finding a way to win regardless. After all, what better way to improve your skill than to face someone who is stronger than you? At that point you must win through skill, not strength.
The other thing that these goals provide is dynamics, sometimes you face opponents who are easy to defeat, some are an equal match for you, while others are almost impossible to beat, sometimes because of said challenges, to remove that dynamic through the normalization of stats and progression would stagnate WvW in a way, for me at least. Even if I couldn’t get any of the advantages, I wouldn’t be against them, I would figure a way to beat them. Maybe I’d improve my skill, maybe I would change my build, maybe I would change my group composition. Maybe you fight them on terrain that favors your class, or build, or maybe you use siege. Or maybe you just plain kite them into some hidden friends and win with simple numbers (I like to do this with up levels). Imagine the rage of some fully stacked 80 thief who thinks he just found a juicy target in my up leveled guardian to run after me only to find d my four other groupates around d the corner who burst him down right away thus killing his stacks. Oh my, I’m smiling just thinking about the nerd rage, hehe . Anyway, I’ve gone off tangent. I respect your views, and even agree we don’t want a huge gap or power creep, but variety is the spice of life, and the variety in challenges is what I think really makes WvW special. I don’t want to see that go.
Hey Juno, while I have never wanted to give this response, as it’s often used in a trollish manner, I feel it is correct here, and I’ll try to explain why after.
Go play sPvP if you want perfect balance.
Now, I’ll explain why. Your point of a piece of zerker gear being a piece of zerker gear regardless of level or quality is exactly what sPvP provides, its a level playing playing field that is designed to be balanced, that is why it has its own set of balance in regards to certain things. You don’t bring in your gear from PvE as well, again to provide a balance, so that time played doesn’t factor into your characters effectiveness. It’s also why I don’t play it, I want my time investment to matter, I want to work for certain gear and I want that work to make a difference. I like how I have to stack sigils in WvW and be careful not to lose them. Lastly, I like that it’s not perfectly balanced, sometimes I have an advantage, sometimes I don’t, I enjoy that dynamic, as many people do, I also know some people don’t, as does ANet, hence they created sPvP to cater to that crowd. As a side note, I have only ascended jewelry and I do not yet have guard leech or applied fortitude (or whatever either name got changed to)
Now, I know sPvP isn’t the same as WvW and doesn’t give the same fights that WvW does, but it has been stated since launch that WvW won’t ever be perfectly (maybe not even well) balanced. Frankly it’s probably better they don’t fret too much over it as the likelyhood of balancing WvW to the extent some players want it is probably impossible. WvW is imperfect, and it has a power creep. I agree with your sentiment that we don’t want a huge gap, but we have somewhere where there isn’t a gap, and working to make your character better is a big parr of MMO’s for so many people, including me . Let’s not try to make WvW into sPvP.
I would be fully behind the change to reading dead players while in combat, though I don’t often have a problem with it. I also like the idea of someone has to be stomped to rally players. I believe that would go a long way to relieving the rally bot issue that zergs tend to create, you would still see people rally, but someone would have to take the risk of stomping to do it, no longer could you just AoE the downed players from safety and rally a bunch of your force.
Pass these ideas along if you can Josh.
I just wanted to go on record as saying thank you to Josh for his participation in this subsection over the last couple days. It’s good to see someone from ANet interacting with us more. Hopefully you can continue to be as active as you are becoming as we move forward.
Looking forward to working with you Josh.
The way he closed was pretty good too, you have to at least give him that.
However, the OP has a point, the Dev interaction with WvW is somewhere between sub par and non existent as of late. I think we should give Josh a chance though, it can take time to find your bearings in a new job position. It will take him time to get used to us (the shining example of a utopian community that we WvW’rs are), and the best way to interact with us without setting off World Forum War III (let’s not kid ourselves, we’re touchy and prone to bouts of nerd rage).
So, Josh, talk to us. Yeah, we’re touchy, prone to nerd rage, and horribly thick headed when it comes to our classes vs other classes, but we love your game and want to see it thrive. Many of us also spend way more than we’d ever admit to non gamers in your gem store. So love us, please.
The paradox then caused a tear in the time space continuum. This repair necessitated the creation of an Asuran whozamawhatzitinator machine to repair the tear. Unfortunately the Asura who built the discombobulator valve for the flux capacitor on the whozamawhatzitinator was, well, not very bright. So, you ended up in the predicament you had. Luckily a simple map change fixed the problem, which was to be expected, well that or a black hole, but we’re still here, so, all went according to plan.
Morale of the story? Drugs are bad.
Being a NA player I’m not sure where Gandara ranks, but it sounds like you’re on a higher tier server, with that in mind.
1) Increasing the cap won’t happen, they prevent massive outnumbering of enemies while also helping to keep lag down, the servers have a hard enough time with the cap currently, the game would likely become unstable if top tier servers started piling on even more players per map.
2) EBG, there’s part of your problem. EB tends to be one of the most popular maps and will often carry the longest que. That mixed with the wonky que system we currently have can make for brutal waits to get into EB on high pop WvW servers.
3) The Edge of the Mists map is coming, probably still a few months out at least, but it will put an end to que’s.
All that being said que’s also help to spread the population, you don’t want all your players on a few top servers unbalancing the whole deal, so if too many stack on one server que’s are a good incentive for players who don’t like waiting to move down a couple tiers to lesser populated servers so they don’t have to wait, thus helping to balance servers.
Well, I would say that 1 year into a game mode advertised as 24/7 what we have in regards to off prime time capping is what we’re going to have for a long time. Maybe we’llsee some adjustments to PPT and how its ccalculated to bring things a little closer in line, but so far no amount of comment on the situation has brought about much change. It’s a persistent PvP area. By its very nature things will he taken if left undefended. To change that drastically is to change what WvW is.
Now that’s not to say it isn’t aggravating at times, but there are things you can do about it.
1) Stay up for way too long defending (irresponsible, don’t do it)
2) Recruit off hour guilds to defend for you during this time (couldn’t tell ya how to succeed there, sorry)
3) Transfer to a server that has that coverage (if it really bothers you that much, is it really that big of a deal though?)
We have the tools to deal with it, and I understand the concern of spending goals to upgrade things only to see it lost while you sleep, but that’s the nature of PvP in every game, win some and lose some, it happens. Just adjust your perspective to “I’ll need to retake and upgrade things when I get on”. I think you’ll find if you change your perspective just a little, and accept you’re not always going to win, things will be much more enjoyable. Take it from someone who uses that outlook and has a blast each night in WvW.
