An Wyvern Tonic? Yes please!
Even if it’s just for a Juvenile Wyvern, I’d be happy with that! (Though, I’d really squeal if we could become a full sized wyvern… XD)

Glider dyeable but not backpack!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

For what it’s worth, I would love to be able to dye my back pieces to match their corresponding gliders…

Though now that I think about it, I wonder… What if instead of adding separate dye channels to back pieces, they instead made the back pieces match the colors of the glider? I don’t know if that would be any easier… I’m not a developer after all, but I do wonder about it. While that wouldn’t allow /total/ customization, it would be better then nothing!

When I was dyeing my glider, I was thinking the color of the backpack ought to automatically change to the color of its counterpart on the glider. I mean, that would make perfect sense. I see I’m not the only one to think along this line.

That’s kind of what I was thinking to.
Basically, instead of having to fix and change the UI to accommodate dye channels on the back pieces, you just use the dye channels already there for the glider.
The real question, though, is if they could ‘back door’ color options to back pieces like that… I’m no developer obviously, I’m just kinda tossing ideas around…

Glider dyeable but not backpack!

This new backpack/glider combo just begs for the backpack to be dyeable. Otherwise, the backpack looks like a lump of dirty gray metal. I heartily agree that gliders that are dyeable should have their corresponding backpacks dyeable as well. We are paying good money for these things after all.

They’ve posted numerous times it’s a time consuming issue of recoding/changing models of all previously released backpeices, and as many people want dyeable weapons as well, it’d add more and stall any new upcoming/expected content.

Though of course we all want the ability for it, its not seemingly practical immediately or in the near future.

But cant they (retro)actively only do it for the combos? Theres not too many of those (yet), and only if the glider variant is also dyeable

I believe that it has been stated already (and cited in this very thread) that even just trying to make /any/ back pieces dyable would effect all of them.

Joking and sarcasm aside, whether or not you like or don’t like how they announced the change in Lake Doric, they /did/ announce it in these very forums.
These forums that many, many people keep saying they should use more.
Now, to play devils advocate, yes, I think they should have dropped those in where the rest of the patch notes go, but that’s nether here nor there.

I’m still with Rasimir.6239. What changes is the OP referring to? Coming here, dropping a complaint with nothing to back it up is not at all constructive…

Character animations with the Miniature Tonic

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: ShinjoNaomi.1896

ShinjoNaomi.1896

Back when we first got the Endless Miniature Tonic in Bitterfrost Frontier, the speed of your characters animations when you moved didn’t change.
You were small, but the speed of everything you did (aka walking or running) was the same speed as it was when you were regular sized.
However, when the latest living story came out, the animations changed, and we started walking and running at a comically sped up pace. (I think it has something with the release of the Endless Embiggening Tonic, which slows all your animations down while you are enlarged, but that’s just conjecture on my part.)

What I’m asking is to make our animations normal speed again while we are using the tonics.
While I did find the sped up animations somewhat amusing, I’d really like to go back to moving normally rather then looking like I’m running around in perpetual fast forward.

Making the ugliest looking Armors they could make. Another trench coat for medium. Why am I even surprised?

I do hope they are proud of their works cause I’m sure the majority are not. Continue to pump out ugly trench coats Anet.

Awful, just awful.

And to the minority who are ok with it, that’s just it, you’re only ok with it. You don’t actually love it. You are settling.

First, you don’t speak for any majority. In fact, you don’t speak for anyone except yourself.

Second, your use of vitriolic, abusive terms to try and justify your subjective opinion is perhaps uglier then anything any developer has put out.
To use your own terms, your language is ‘Awful. Just Awful.’

Third, you have zero clue about who likes anything, or just ‘settles’.
Again, abusive and vitriolic words used to try and further justify your subjective (and very ugly) opinion.

Obviously OP hasn’t grasped the meta or playstyle.

Weak classes that are super hard to play and easy to counter:

  • Thief
  • Scrapper
  • Mesmer
  • Revenant (roaming)
  • Elementalist
  • Guardian

Runes/sigils that make everything easier:

  • Durability (can heal you several thousands during fight and makes you impossible to be bursted down)
*Energy, gives you 0.5 sec invuln every 10s
  • Hydromancy, super easy instant 2k AoE burst that chills enemies around you, great for escaping, buttonsmashing or doing damage.

Anyways, take one long range wep in your build (rifle war, bow dh, staff druid etc) and whenever you face a class you cant beat no matter what, play that class until you realise its not that strong and what are the skills to hit. Obviously the builds wont be optimal but they will be easier to play.

If you have bad PC and cant see enemy animations, dont bother fighting 1v1s/melee just take necro/rev/ele and spam long range skills.

Friend all commanders that seem like they know what to do. If commander dies before you (a noob), he most likely will just make you a worse player.

But tbf, I play a lot, like 10 hours a day, I wont lose to anyone in 1v1 if I am on a class thats decent for 1v1 (being on guard or ele sucks). So my advice is kinda from different world than people who just have option to escape to PvE after losing….

Anyways key is to dodge certain kills on each classes, for example thats for warriors thats GS 5, gs 3 and axe/gs f1s. And instastunbreak when you get headbutted and dodge.

Dont roam with exotic gear, you stand 0 chance if you’re not good. Also run high toughness builds, Easiest way is to take enough condi cleanse in build and just get lot of armor and then gg, noobs cant kill you.

so Git Gud Nub!

Christ… is it totally impossible for some people to give suggestions without adding some back-handed comment to the end of it??

WvW is the least balanced game mode by far. If you’re in it purely for the combat, you’re going to have to put up with a lot of BS and then even more BS from people who think they’re the bee’s knees because Anet made some decision that gave them too much power.

That said, if you’re on SoS, I can help you get your armor with minimal combat. I know the maps like the back of my hand and am used to playing outnumbered, so combat is often not an option.

Just so the offer didn’t go unappreciated, thanks Sviel. Not my server though. I’m on TC.

Losing sucks and so does being mocked for it. The thing with competitive games is that there are always players who will take pleasure in the suffering of others. In fact, the same can be said for many treads of life.

These people may or may not go unpunished for their actions but that should be none of your concern. Since this is after all a video game that we’re talking about, the only thing that should matter is your own personal enjoyment (so long of course as it does not impede the enjoyment of others).

If you find that you’re not enjoying what you’re doing, but you’re still doing it, there are a few likely scenarios.

1) You have nothing better to do.
2) You actually do like it but you choose to focus on the negatives despite being drawn by the positives.
3) You just like to complain.

You could be any one of those 3 or you could be none. I’m not psychic. All I know for certain is that I’ve been in your shoes and so have many others. Losing, confused and not getting the answers you want. If you’re as experienced as you say, then there is probably little I can tell you that you don’t already know, and that’s okay. There are much better things you could be doing with your time than playing video games, stirring in your seat and being miserable.

If it makes you feel any better, I have 11 thousand hours in this game but I’m still terrible because I have impaired motor skills. That’s something no amount of practice can fix. Do I let it stop me from having fun? No. I create builds that cushion my poor reflexes and co-ordination and I find ways to improve on what I already know.

Anyway, if you truly are done, good luck. I apologize if I came off as snarky but I genuinely hope you find something better to do.

A couple of things.

Yeah, losing sucks, but I’m an adult. I can handle losing.
Being treated like garbage though? Yeah, I’ll admit, that irks me. Six years in the U.S. Marine Corps has left me with little tolerance for other peoples childish BS. And not to put myself on a pedestal or anything, but if someone in the Corps acted like some of these internet kids do, they would very soon find themselves in a ‘put up or shut up’ position where someone would likely get their teeth shoved down their throat…
But since I can rarely do anything about these kind of things these days, I more often choose to remove myself from a situation where a troll or a mental kid hiding on the internet is being a kitten just to get his jollies off.

Honestly? My biggest reason for going into WvW is to get the Triumphant Armor pieces. I have resigned myself to the fact that I wont be getting them anytime soon.
As for any other reasons?
I’ll put it like this. I /know/ it can be fun. It has all the potential to be fun.
But, thanks to the bad apples and my apparent inability to keep up or even be remotely competitive against these players who are clearly better then I am, (and take every chance to shove that fact in my face…) the fun gets sucked right out of it. And now, it can all rot for all I care.

11 thousand hours? Dang. You got me beat. I am sitting at a little over 6,600 myself.

No, you really didn’t come off all that snarky.

Boon Removal.

Like a Necro’s [Spinal Shivers], [Corrupt Boon] or [Well of Corruption]?
Or a Mesmer’s [Null Field] or [Phantasmal Disenchanter]?
Or hell, even an Engineer’s [Mine Field]? (Hardly play the class and I know about it.)
Yeah, I know how you are supposed to remove Boons from your opponent while keeping your own.
Funny how they always seem to be able to avoid that somehow, magically…

I generally assume it’s my fault if I lose a 1:1 in WvW.

I do believe I said just that in my OP… Clearly the problem is with me, not the other guys/gals who for some reason never seem to take squat for damage and know exactly how to avoid everything I throw at them while blowing through all my defenses and utilities like they weren’t there to begin with.

in general yes, it’s learn the other classes and different builds to learn how to counter or when to dodge. I know for me i like reading metabattle and going over the wvw and pvp builds,. Doesnt mean i can play them like the “pros” but it does help me a little when i do face them.

With the exception of Engineer, Mesmer and Revenant I know my classes well enough to know their strengths and weaknesses. Not a ‘Pro’, but I ain’t a dumb noob either.
Like I said, I have been trying this for a long while. Hasn’t helped one iota…

A few questions:

1. What gear were you using? Zerker may be fine in PvE but you have to tank up in WvW
2. Enough condi clears? The WvW meta is based on condi
3. Running alone? Unless you’re experienced, roaming can be very dangerous; gankers are out hunting for you – find the zerg and stick to it as you start out.

1) Depends on what class I play. Only one I dare ever try running full Zerker on is Warrior, because I know they can (in theory) have enough sustain through traits and utilities to stay on their feet past a couple of seconds. (I say in theory because I haven’t ever seen it.)
2) As many as I can use without being useless at anything else. Again, depends on the class. Doesn’t help much when your Utilities seem to always been on cool down because you are perma-stunned.
3) Not if I can ever help it. Running solo in WvW is basically akin to putting a massive bullseye on my back and screaming ‘FREE LOOT BAG HERE!’ into a megaphone. Only time I do that is if I’m going for the Master of Ruins daily. And even then I keep my head on a swivel (not that it helps much…)

Ah, you were most likely fighting a thief using
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Bountiful_Theft
and lots of evades.

Yeah, I have come across those too. Most frustrating fights I have ever been a part of. Nothing like seeing ‘EVADED’ over and over again while one guy manages to avoid attacks from myself and 3 or 4 other players…
(Tried that with my own Daredevil… I’d absolutely love to know how they manage that…)

Again, I’m not expecting to always win. Just tired of being a useless leach to my server every time I attempt to try WvW.

Just posting this to vent. Because lord above knows that so many other people here do it on these forums…
And inb4 ‘Git Gud Nub!’ and ‘Just practice more!’ etc… I have. Nearly since this game came out. The results are still the same…

You know, I thought I’d try giving the WvW (and PvP in general) another try.
What a fraggin mistake… And once again, I realize why I hated it.

Come across an enemy, hit them and watch them take next to no damage.
They hit me? Watch me lose a 1/4+ of my health.
Oh hell, use my utilities, try to mitigate the damage!
Why am I still taking so much damage?!
Why are they still hurting me through my [Endure Pain] or [Spectral Armor]?? I don’t have any conditions on me! I should be take less damage!
Why is this guy I’m hitting never getting stunned?! I don’t see [Stability] on him?
How in the hell do I get CCed through /my/ [Stability]??

Fine. Enough. I get it.
Apparently, I suck at PvP so kitten ed much that I can’t get anywhere near a fight without getting ganked by some other player who, for some reason has to take the time to jump up and down on my corpse just to drive the point home of how much better they are.
I don’t want to win all the time, believe it or not. I just want to put up a decent fight, not just feed these apparent uber-leet pro kids loot bags all the kitten ed time and get the usual ‘HAHA YOU SUK!’ pages vomited at me.

Hope you all enjoy your game mode. But I’m done with it.

Eh, I’m kinda split on this…
On one hand, I don’t like the idea of removing players from the game play with mechanics like this.
It’s annoying and not a ton of fun being forced to watch someone else play while you can sit there and do nothing.
On the other hand, I can see what they were trying to do.
Mordremoth basically won the mental duel with the defeated player, and as such, that player is ‘cast aside’ while Mordremoth is continuing to fight the others that are assaulting his mind…

Basically, I see the concept behind it, but I agree that its implementation is not the best.
Thing is, I’m not sure of a better way to show a player as truly ‘defeated’ like this is supposed to show.
Putting them in a down state and be un-rezz-able like in at least some of the Raids?
Maybe turning them into enemy thralls of Mordremoth until the other players can break them free of his control? (I can see the worthless trolls on this game abusing that one…)
I dunno… Maybe someone else can come up with a better mechanic to represent the concept?

Well after all the drama queens on the forums complaining about the aviator joke was horrible I fully understand anet decided to stop doing in game jokes..
So don’t blame it to anet if they want to avoid dramas in the forums.

We got what we deserved. People keep raising forks and torchs about everything (remember the aviator prank controversy). It’s just too much effort on A-Net’s end to be inventive and get shut down for it. So no, I’m not surprised, and I certainly do not put the blame on A-Net.

Basically this OP… You can thank the special snowflakes who apparently get triggered by game graphics for the lack of an in-game prank these past couple of years.

You’re missing the point entirely most of us me included have seen and played the 2 first world 3 and 4 are yet to come, and because of empty promises we get 1 and 2 over and over and over again and every year it comes out on April fools day and the joke is on you the player who takes the bait!!!

Have fun out there and don’t forget your fishing rod.

“empty promises”?

I don’t ever remember SAB being promised at all, especially in the game manifesto at launch or before launch. In fact the whole thing was a total surprise (a nice one indeed) when it was released and if I recall was the work of one individual in his spare time while his main game projects were finished.

If you mean because there are 2 extra doorways that COULD eventually at some time be added on to. If this is what you are taking as “empty promises” I guess you and I have two very different views as to what “empty promises” are.

Really I just don’t get some people. SAB was given to us FREE as a fun BONUS yearly event and people still are not happy. Sure you may have played it up to your eyeballs and may want MORE MORE MORE right now. But lets be realistic here. Sometimes things just never come or they take time.

I mean sure when a new oh I don’t know say Final Fantasy game comes out and I beat it right away sure I may want the next one right now but I just know that’s not gonna happen lol…

Don’t even make me mention the FF7 remake, just knowing that it is going to be broken up into parts…..now that example right there, I COULD be justified in moaning but, no, just no and this is off topic anyway lol.

Its strange that there are buildings marked world 3 and 4 when neither are planned to be released any time soon and they’ve been there for how long? In particular to new players. I wasn’t playing GW2 until the middle of last year so this is my first SAB and I was all excited to hop into world 3 after finishing w2 but both buildings are just aesthetic. It wouldn’t take more than just a moment to remove these two buildings and save them for later when the dev releases those worlds.

And it takes even less time to not remove them and just keep them there until such time as they maybe might have time to make Worlds 3 and 4.

SAB is what it is… An amusing little diversion that has become an annual thing.
You can either enjoy it for that, or be completely miserable in what it isn’t.

You and Tyria (Newbie Roleplaying Guide)

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: ShinjoNaomi.1896

ShinjoNaomi.1896

This is pretty good! Definite +1 from me.

One thing that might be good to add though…
Never, ever, ever while you are role playing should you feel unnecessarily compelled or forced into something you are not comfortable with.
This might sound like a no-brainer, but you’d be surprised how many people… especially those that are just starting to try and roleplay… feel like they are obligated to go along with things, even if they don’t feel comfortable with it.

As a random example, lets say someone emoted that they suddenly grab you and drag you into a nearby alleyway…
You are under no obligation to follow through with that unless you want to. Nobody is allowed to do anything to your character unless you allow them to.

Which leads to another very important part of roleplaying… attempting to do something, rather then just doing it.
What this means is, simply put, you can attempt to try and do things to another player, but that doesn’t mean it will succeed…
Lets use the above example in two different emitted posts…

Player 1 reaches out and grabs Player 2, instantly wrapping his hands around their neck and covering there mouth before dragging them into the shadows of the nearby alleyway.

Player 1 quietly slips out of the shadows, attempting to get behind Player 2 and reaching to try and slip an arm around their neck and cover their mouth! If successful, he then tries to pull them back into the shadows of the alleyway before anyone else notices…

Notice the difference?
In the first one, Player 1 doesn’t give Player 2 any chance to react, and acts like his actions are just going to automatically succeed.
And that’s really not good roleplaying and in truth, not a lot of people enjoy having someone else try and take control of their character taken away from them.
The second pose was better, showing Player 1 /attempting/ to try and grab Player 2, and not just assuming they are going to succeed. This gives Player 2 a chance to react or go along with it as they want.

In short, be courteous and respectful to your fellow RPers out there.

How can you really master something if you only do a few things in the expansion?

Good point, how about an option to opt out of the mastery system entirely (or at least tuck it away somewhere so it’s not visible) for those who have no desire to “master” anything. Fair is fair, right?

That option is already there. You just simply ignore it and keep playing the game the way you want.

If don’t want to do the content… for whatever reason… you don’t get the rewards for it.

I don’t see why we would have to beat the new boss/encounter to finish the Forsaken Thicket mastery line.
You only need to beat any single part of the Raid Wings to unlock the mastery… (I managed to unlock it by doing the Stronghold of the Faithful escort…) Once it’s unlocked, you can finish the entire mastery line without ever stepping foot in the Raids again.

Wow. Obscene joy. Chest-thumping sore winner. You’re reading an awful lot into his post, aren’t you?

I guess that toxicity is expected (and seen) in every WvW/PvP experience.

Not reading into anything that isn’t there, clear as day…

Oh I am pretty sure they cause anxiety as well. It was daily camp the other day and I killed this guy taking a camp easy. Like killing a level 40 upscale or something.

After he whispered a lenghty line involving about 10 different kittens and how I ruined his daily.

Stuff like that makes WvW worth playing.

Stuff like that makes WvW worth playing.

If you think killing a “level 40 upscale” is something worth bragging about…

He probably just likes drinking wine.

Only the very best is good enough. It doesnt hurt when they send a mail with a cheese wedge to go along with it (yes, that has happened).

But I do find it amusing that astral entirely missed the point. That’s what makes the forums worth coming back to.

Toxicity is not ‘expected (and seen) in every WvW/PvP experience.’ Just the blatantly obvious ones.

But hey… easier to just turn it around and say the ones who hate all that kind of toxic garbage are the ones being toxic… Yup.

Edit: Enough on this… As you said yourself, we are in danger of derailing this thread.

People like you are part of the reason people avoid the Toxic wastelands known as WvW and PvE.

Ummm… Dawdler’s “crime” is that he was actually playing WvW as the mode is intended to be played.

He came across an enemy player trying to capture one of his world’s camps and killed him, defending his world’s camp. Then the person that he killed sent him an abusive whisper.

Nothing Dawdler did was wrong and he continues to get abuse over it.

I can’t (and won’t) try to speak for Lite Ning here, but I will say this…
It wasn’t that Dawdler killed an enemy player in a PvP environment. Defending your servers camp is what you are supposed to do there.
It’s the fact that he, apparently, took obscene joy in crushing someone that clearly wasn’t at his level…
It’s all about that player attitude again.

Now, what I /have/ noticed is that if you mouse over them, or target them, the infusion color vanishes and they look normal. However, if you move your mouse or un-select them, the color returns.

I don’t like WvW because I spend most of the time going from place to place and because almost everything is decided by who has the bigger zerg. Too much dead time and not much actual skill.

As far as the travel time, the maps are too big with too few travel options (you can’t even glide to take shortcuts). There is just too much dead space everywhere, and the few waypoints there are (and there aren’t enough for the size given the lack of things to do) are too often contested.

For the second, this is just the nature of this type of PVP. More players will almost always win a fight since they have more skills to burn. But combined with the slow travel, this mean you can spend 5 min going somewhere, get swarmed, and gain nothing.

The funny irony of this is that a lot of players used to say the WvW maps were too small!

ShinjoNaomi.1896

Because I don’t like PvP.
I’ve tried both sPvP and WvW, and both have left me feeling nothing but frustration and anger.
Frustration at myself for not doing better, frustration at the other player who seems to be better at absolutely everything no matter how I work and change my playstyle or profession or build…
And anger at the jerkwads who wave their tiny kittens in my face, yell at me about how much I suck and how I’m only good for dying or how great they are for being able to press buttons on a keyboard. Behavior that they can only get away with because they can hide on the internet.

In short, my experiences in Player vs Player games and game modes have been terrible.
I don’t like how I’m treated, I don’t like how other people act, and I don’t like how I get.
Thus, I no longer have any interest in it.

I remember a dev said once that the outfit model is altogether and they can’t separate meshes, the head is the only exception as it’s separate.

which is nonsense, because before the wardrobe update many of these current outfits were in sections.
such as Mad King’s Boots
Mad King’s Coat
Mad King’s Gloves
Mad King’kitten

here is the old town clothes UI for the Fancy Winter Outfit showing nice separate parts complete with their own icons:

Yes… the -old town clothes- outfits that they originally made for the game before the revamp… You remember, the ones we couldn’t go into combat with.
And how often did we get those back then? About as often as we got new armor sets. Which was not very often…

I agree they can be an annoyance when good-for-nothing trolls put them on top of NPCs, treasure chests and the like.
It’s been suggested before that Anet should make these things undeployable in a small radius around those same NPCs, treasure chests and other such intractable things.

Hard to say… I haven’t really noticed a change in the spawn time of the HP power-ups…
Conversely, players seem to have a better idea of when and where they spawn too… You have to remember, their are up to 9 other players that are also picking these things up…

But I do feel you. It’s frustrating. I have resigned myself to not getting a lot of these achievement points this year.

Not to throw more fuel on this fire… but about cultural armor skins…

I do seem to recall, a long while back when the game first came out (or maybe it was still during the Betas) that you could look at any racial armor on any race.
It didn’t last long though before it was patched out and, my memory is fuzzy, but I do seem to remember it was /buggy/ as hell and left some characters completely naked! (Not that it showed anything. All the characters are just barbie dolls under their armor, after all.)
Plus, does nobody remember the original Flame Kissed Light Armor debatical? The utter, childish, kitten-storm tantrums that some people threw here on the forums over a set of armor that had the same -silhouette- as the T3 human female cultural armor, but was able to be worn on any race, forever nailed that coffin shut.

As for the more direct topic at hand, I just honestly don’t see a need for a Race Change option. As TheMountain.6204 pointed out above, it’s not hard to make a new character, get them to 80 and kit them out as you wish.
