… The human race would never have to worry about be oppressed again.”
I think trolls should have their computers smashed. ’Its all part of the game. U mad bro?’
Premade teams for Winter Wonderland…
Yeah! Lets steamroll those filthy casual PvE loving Carebears in /everything!/
Obvious sarcasm aside… Like Vayne said, I doubt it will change.
Not really seeing a need for this, to be completely honest.
Open equipment menu.
Click checkbox.
Done.
-rolls eyes-
I don’t know how many people might be working on the short story… But I’d hazard a guess it’s one person in their free time…
Honesty, just never mind… I’m not going to mince words with you over the friggen internet just to continue a worthless argument over semantics about something this trivial.
In fact… hey, let’s make the argument that the devs and anyone else working on this game should be just shackled to their desks and flogged for even /thinking/ about anything even remotely like Tyrian Travels… Because you know, it could maybe, possibility, just might (even though it really wouldn’t) affect production of the game…
Are you seriously trying to argue that a Developer taking a little personal time to write a short little story about an Asura and her Moa would in any way significantly impact the development of the game?
(edited by ShinjoNaomi.1896)
Because people like getting upset at stupid, inconsequential things…
Seriously though, if someone is going to get mad at a Dev writing an 1,100 word chapter in a (very) short story every once in a while, then frankly, they are just looking for things to get upset about…
I dunno…
When Marjory left to keep tabs on Lazerus, it made at least -some- sense…
Lazerus is a wild card in things, and we -should- be keeping tabs on him (the jury is still out for me on if he’s reformed or not… but that’s a different discussion.)
And while she could have been a bit headstrong about it, she didn’t come off in a blatantly disrespecting tone to the Commander. (At least not in my opinion, anyway.)
Braham, on the other hand, is a different matter. As has been said in this thread already, he’s acting like nobody else has lost anyone important to them during the campaigns against the Dragons.
Sure, I get it… He’s angry. And anger makes people say and do things that are probably not the smartest idea’s in the world…
But I would be lying if I said I didn’t want to knock that boy on his duff at the end of that last story instance…
If the desire for dueling is so popular, and there are so many players that want it, then it should be easy for you all to find each other, form your own guild, (Call it Fight Club or something) and get a guild hall…
Tahdah! All you folks can then duel to your hearts content…
the mentality of trolls is pretty simple: their acts made you think and talk about them, goal achieved
If this is all about just getting attention, then they should be getting help for their sad excuse of a life, not playing video games…
No, I think this is more a case of certain small people acting jerks because they can… No other reason.
People tend not to act this way in RL because… guess what… there are actual consequences for their actions. Insert reasonable consequences for peoples actions in the game, and watch as those same people who get their jollies off being kitten-bags suddenly and miraculously learn to behave themselves…
For what it’s worth, I can’t understand the mentality of trolls either. They must have some pretty sad, pathetic lives if this is how they get their kicks…
That aside though, +1 for a “buffer zone” as you say. It wouldn’t even need to be that big of an area around said NPC’s or treasure chests.
Perhaps it was the fact that you used the exact same words each time that triggered the message suppression?
I’m guessing that the system is set up in such a way that if… say… a Gold Seller tries to spam his copy/pasted message out repeatedly, it triggers it. Or a Troll that tries to spam the same words out just to be disruptive…
Not really sure if that’s what happened or if that’s how the Message Suppression system works… Just making more of an educated guess, really.
Wait, what?
Were there some changes made to the final battle with Zhaitan?
I love how the community wants it both ways. There’s one faction that said boosters were overvalued and worthless drops from BL Chests. Now that they replace it with a seasonal item, you have another faction saying that boosters were useful and are worth the 100ish gems.
Just remember… There are hardly ever any true majorities in MMO communities. Just a bunch of minorities.
Please or placate one group, and you ruffle another…
Ime people are more often crueler than kinder to strangers in MMOs. OP, all the positive reasons you give also have negative possibilities/iterations.
- Newbies can examine similar classes and can get a guide on what build works or what gear set they should be working on.
Newbies won’t take the time to learn why some builds work synergistically and why some builds won’t… It can stunt a player learning the game, just like for those who ape the meta and never venture outside of it.
-Raid groups can critique their member’s gear/builds better.
Raid groups who know each other also already know each other’s builds and how well the person plays their profession. Raid groups that don’t know each other won’t generally critique another’s build outside of kicking them for not having the correct build.
- Being able to check ppls gear helps ppl who PUG Raids, Fracs greatly.
Same reason I gave above. It doesn’t help a person to be kicked with little/no explanation. It makes one feel unwelcome in the game more often than it motivates them to try harder.
-In WvW, if your dueling someone and he’s just super awesome, you can check his gear and build and maybe learn from it/copy it
.
Even more blame and harassment for using cheese builds. Also, this creates a meta-game where someone will examine someone off in the distance, see what their build is, and quickly change theirs to compensate. This also keeps a person from starting a dialogue with their rival asking about their build which could wind up in a new friendship.

This sums it up pretty good.
People who are already elitists are a salty enough bunch. They don’t need any more. :p
Absolutely nothing of value was lost. That game was terrible.
Reaper’s Rumble, on the other hand, is worth mourning.

(let alone being called the “Commander” forever).
It’s okay. We can be called ‘Poo Bah’ now.

Nope.
I enjoyed the majority of what HoT brought to the game.
Holy Necro-post, Batman!
One correction Jayhay, a cat adopts you, not the other way around.
“In Soviet Tyria… cat adopts you!”
Edit: Actually no… That happens with cats just about everywhere…

Ah… Internet Trolls… The bane of cooperative gaming…
It’s one thing if someone is honestly making a mistake. It happens and nobody is perfect.
Or situations like the old Queensdale Champ Train, where someone kills a Champ ‘out of order’ where there was no ‘order’ to begin with…
That’s different.
But to go out of their way to screw other people over? To actually gain any joy out of ruining other peoples day?
If a person finds some kind of perverse joy in that, then they got problems and shouldn’t be playing games… They should be getting therapy! Because something is /obviously/ wrong, either with themselves or with their life!
But lets face it. These people only do it because of the perceived autonomy of the internet. Because the /instant/ there is any form of real repercussion for their actions, they almost always clam up and start to magically behave themselves.
kittens like those shouldn’t even be allowed on online games…
Cheaters, griefers, and low-lifes who get off on harassing others deserve nothing but scorn.
But again… what can we do about it?
Hard to argue how gorgeous the game really is. Sometimes I wish I could get the UI out of the way quicker before hitting that screenshot button…
Lack of achievements aside…
Yeah, need a better way to track who has the ball… It’s not easy to tell… Hell, at one point, /I/ had the ball and didn’t even know it at first!
Shooting those 3 pointers from across the court was kinda fun though.
Huh…
I don’t recall seeing Mordrem Sharpshooters ever doing that before.
Interesting find.
This is a problem that has plagued just about every MMO in existence.
How do you keep old events playable when game veterans have already moved on to newer content? What about the newer players that have not had a chance to play that older content? When the next expansion comes out, will there be enough people in Dragon Stand to even do the meta-event against the Mouth of Mordremoth? What about the Chak Gerants in Tangled Depths? Or even the Matriarch in Verdant Brink (to say nothing of the map-wide meta-event there)?
I certainly agree that this is something that /should/ be discussed, but I have to say this…
I have yet to hear a real viable solution to this problem.
Not just ‘Idle Player’. Same thing happened to me when I went to report a gold seller that had paged me…
So annoying. >.<
I’d say it’s worth it, given the sale price atm.
I’m all for this. More emotes in general would be great but I’ll definitely throw my support behind a Thriller dance!
I’m all for this!
And we already have something similar!
I know there is a way to do it, because others have whispered me.
Maybe it should be hard, because it could be abused.
Having said that, I have never got a abusive whisper. The few times that I got one was either positive or just asking about my build.
I guess the point is, just because they are on another sever and there job is to kill you, doesn’t mean they are jerks. They are just someone like you….playing the game.
I envy you.
Only whispers I have ever got from enemy players in WvW are abusive insults.
I’d like to be able flip the bird at a few people I know.
I can see that one getting used a whole hell of a lot in WvW…
I think a good compromise to real life events and social justice would be having flags at half mast. That was a great idea Cobra. It shows support without having to make it obvious. No need for press releases. No explanations. Just something in game that shows someone cares, and players who see it can make their own conclusions as to what it means. Sorta like how we find Easter Eggs that Devs put in, and we only find out about them 3 years later.
If this is to be asked for, then I ask only for flags in the game be set at half mast on Memorial Day.
For the love of god above, NO.
Competitive play and the hyper-combative, trash-talking mental children that inevitably comes with it can stay in the Mists where it belongs.
Nice to have it as on option, but weird that I am the only one enjoying player chatter so far.
You aren’t the only one, Zedek.
I like hearing other people too. Makes the game seem more alive to me.
Hearing a sylvari run past me shouting to the world,
‘I feel FURIOUS!’
still makes me chuckle and grin.
They should bring it back as a regular emote that you can type in.
That way, everyone gets what they want, really.
There is toxicity in PvP because people can get away with being toxic in PvP.
Just like they can get away with it in any other game mode.
The perceived autonomy of the internet makes cowardly, verbally abusive trolls really brave, when they know that such behavior in real life will likely get their teeth shoved down their throat (which is what most trolls deserve…)
This is why you’ll often see the really toxic kittens go silent and miraculously learn self control the moment some kind of authority shows up that can get them banned. Unless, of course, they truly don’t care about getting banned… Then they will continue to spew toxic garbage until they are booted from the game… Hopefully permanently.

CoH Bases… Oh how I miss those…
Once you got the hang of it, it was amazing what you could build… Man, I miss my castle and forest. T-T
As far as the subject at hand about Player Housing, perhaps the current Guild Hall system can be adjusted for it?
The current guild halls we got are huge, clearly meant for bigger guilds. Nothing wrong with that, per say… but if they added smaller plots of land in the future, and adjusted the cost of things, then I think the current Guild Hall system could work well.
We should fight a bunch of heroes that defeated another elder dragon off in a different part of the world.
They can be just as self-centered and egotistical as the (seemingly) majority of player characters are, and the entire reason we have to fight them is because there can be only one super-special snowflake in the world!
Complaining about free digital stuff… Free digital stuff that you can get rid of with a couple of clicks of your mouse…
Geezus, the things people will whine about is just amazing…
(edited by ShinjoNaomi.1896)
It’s what you make of it.
OP, I agree with you…
But lets face it… This is the internet. If it can be complained about through any remote, illogical stretch of any sort of fallacy or perceived personal affront… it will be complained about.
I’ve said this before, and it’s still valid…
Anet could give us a free add-on for Guild Wars 2 that spits out real money, and some people would scream bloody murder about how it doesn’t do it in numerical order based on serial numbers…

I have to offer a different opinion on this…
I love SAB as much as the next person. I really do.
But by the end of this April Fools Festival, I was getting rather bored of it. Making it an annual event keeps it special and helps give you something to look forward to.I’d say the exact same thing for any annual event… Take Halloween, for example. I /adore/ that time of year in Tyria (and in RL too) but I would seriously get bored of seeing Mad King Thorn walk around LA all year round.
If you’re getting bored of it then do something else in the game. Oh but it’s going to leave soon so you’re forced to enjoy it as much as possible before it’s gone for another year or maybe it wont even return forever! Who knows! But making this an annual event isn’t the solution. If it was permanent then if you got bored of it you could leave it and do something else in GW2 and then go back when you’re in the mood to play it. By making it temperarly means you’re kinda forced to play it only because it will leave and wont come back for a really long time so enjoying it at first but later becomes a chore since you wanna do it fast as possible with little time left to get the rewards instead of taking your time enjoying the content itself.
Look, lets use PvP for an example. Imagine ArenaNet make PvP a temperarly content… How kittened off would PvPers would be? What about WvW… Imagine that fanbase would feel.. Taking away content doesnt make it more fun when it returns, it makes it sad for players who want to play that content since it cannot be accessible when they feel like playing it. End of story.
Boy… Angry much at a different opinion? :p
No, not end of story… SAB is coming back. It’s an annual thing and like all annual things, it’s good for a while to play, and then gets boring as hell… Kinda like listening to the one-sided ‘conversations’ here in these flippin forums…I can already see what kind of conversation this is going to be, so I’m not even going to bother… Peace out… Or in your case, stay angry…
Yes, of course I’m angry because of people like you who think it’s okay to take away content others enjoy playing in their own time. If you get bored then fine, stop playing it. But don’t advocate for it to be removed because YOU are bored of it when others are clearly enjoying it. Your opinion is selfish since it promotes the idea of stopping others from enjoying content you dont enjoy; because you got bored…
If SAB was permanent you can still stop playing it… and others like me can still enjoy playing it when we want. It’s a win-win… You’re promoting a win-Lose scenario by saying it’s better as an annual thing… I cant play SAB right now because I have to wait till next year… It’s terrible!!! =( SAB needs to be permanent addition to the game.
I brought my opinion to the subject, you you came out swinging like I suggested that Anet kill your puppy.
You have, in one single post, exemplified the reason I have stayed off these forums for such a long time.
Think about that a minute… :P
I still say that SAB staying an Annual Event is just fine. It’s a holiday event that celebrates April Fools, just like Halloween and Wintersday.
Keep it as such and give us a reason to look forward to it rather then burn out on it.
Others have explained why keeping it temporary is not a bad thing, and I’ll let their opinions stand rather then waste my proverbial breath in this subject anymore with someone who clearly can’t stand the fact that someone might have an opposing view…

Just a guess here…
But there would probably be a small wave of ‘Thank you Anet! I can play now…’ posts on the forums…
Followed soon after by a bigger wave of ‘WAAAAH! I’M BORED NOW! GG ANET FOR RUINING MY EXPERIENCE!’ type posts…
It’s sad, but I really can’t say I blame Anet. This falls on the overly sensitive, whiny, so “politically correct” it hurts, portion of society that wants to be offended by everything. I’d still rather see Anet tell them what they can do with their triggers and give us a prank anyway, but I can understand why anyone would want to avoid having to deal with that level of idiocy.
Those joke patch notes were still pretty great, though. And I think SAB is a well-received “consolation prize” for a big part of the community.
This about sums it up for me too…
I’d wish Anet would tell the incessant whiners where to go take it to… But sadly, that won’t happen in the current social environment…
Yay for the crybabies winning, I guess… … Meh.

I like the idea, in general. This game has a lack of emotes and if there was a way we could put that in the hands of players, it would take a lot off the devs.
But, there are a lot of cons to this idea… and a couple of unknown factors, such as if the game could even incorporate such a thing.
I’m no expert, but I’m pretty sure a lot of backend work would be needed to make the client read someones custom emote, send that through the server, and then to another client to read it and show it on the screen. While that might not seem like much, and probably wouldn’t be a huge deal if you only had a few people to worry about, the problems of that become exponentially bigger when you have the kind of numbers an MMO like Guild Wars 2 has (unless the game was made for it from the ground up…)
If they could get around that problem, (and any others I haven’t even thought of) then hey… I’m all for it!
All for it. Been hoping they would add the Tengu in for a while now, and seeing newer ones show up gives me some hope.
That said, I also hope they add in the Kodan as well.
Largos? Meh… Rather lukewarm on them…
I haven’t seen one whisper of gold spam since HoT launched. Maybe they all hang out in HoTM?
Honestly, I think they do. As someone that (at least tries to) play all three game-modes, the only time I ever see them lately is when I am waiting in the HotM.
That being said, it’s not that much that often… Like DoctorDing.5890 said above… Block, Report and ignore them.
The only way something like this would make any sense is if it was an Elementalist attuned to water.
Not saying I really agree with the idea at all though… Mechanically, I just don’t see any reason for it.
It’s less that the fight against Zhaitan was bad (don’t get me wrong, it isn’t good either…) and more that it is just so… unfinished.
I still say that there was supposed to be another phase to that battle, where the players had to drop down to where Zhaitan had fallen, only to find that he wasn’t dead. The players would then have to finish the fight…
It would definitely have made it much better then the incomplete-feeling version we have now.
Unfortunately, that ship has long since set sail and is far past the horizon. But, who knows… With the inclusion of raids, they could maybe bring that final part of the fight against Zhaitan into the game as one.
Could certainly give people a reason to go back to Orr…
@Aerwyna
A noble sentiment. One that I agree with actually, and I honestly applaud you for it.
But, this is the internet we are talking about. The place where every mental-child can hide behind their computer monitors and say whatever they want without fear of repercussion.
It’s a sad state of affairs, really… Everyone with an axe to furiously grind, or who thinks that can do everything better then the people doing it, comes out in droves and screams like babies…
Why? Because they can.
All I can say is, unfortunately… so long as this Anonymity of the internet prevails, there is little we can do about the angry children who throw their temper-tantrums. If they get truly vitriolic in Map (or any other) chat, report them for Verbal Abuse. No they wouldn’t. :p
The vast majority of internet babies are far too cowardly to step out from behind their computer monitors to ever do such a thing.
The moment any possibility of real repercussions comes up, regardless of what those repercussions might actually be, the majority of internet trolls suddenly find a way to control themselves.
Kind of amazing really, when you look at it…It’s hilarious how you claim to agree with the OP and yet your posts are the very definition of toxic.
The truth hurts, does it not? :p
