Even so, you can just “farm” the ranked games to get more points. Another issue that may rise by this leader board greed is that players which are mainly there for their place on the ladder might stay to cap points without any consideration of the situation (example 3 players on one empty capture point) only to achieve the 100 points needed to get a score. (not 100% sure about that)

I will start with the things I feel needs improvements and move on the things I think are good as they are.

MMR- I haven’t felt a great balance on team making, the only thing I did notice that the system is trying to match balanced numbers of weight class (heavy/medium/light armor). It seems the system is taking any consideration of professions other then armor weight. Also, it seems that the “player skill” match making isn’t working well, I mainly faced a low skilled teams or been matched with low skill players (that’s how I feel). Only on rare times I did feel a balance between the two teams in terms of player skill.

Leaderboards- the new ladder resembles to me a more of a PvE grind ladder then an actual competitive ladder. It seems players can get high on the ladder without actually being good at PvP but rather play a lot of ranked games and get these points as much as they can without much consideration to win/lose ratio.

Now moving to the things I found awesome about these new features:

UI- looks amazing, a nice welcomed change.

Map selection- a very good way to vote for maps and keeping it a bit random, also nice visualization on the UI.

Unranked Arena- finally a place to train in that does not affect the player’s score in a competitive set up as ranked arena.

And finally noting some bugs:
*double queue

  • team queue got canceled but 1 party member got into the arena even after declining.

CDI-Guilds- Raiding

Hello folks,
Mainly I stalk the CDI’s and read every but of them but this time I came a tad bit late so I didn’t read everything, excuse me if I repeat earlier ideas.

Progression inside a raid instance:

-Core DNA that I think are devalue content:

1.Stacking players in a safe spot/hot spot.
2.Use of ranged weapons to avoid being hit at all.
3.Flaming boss, misting telegraphed attacks.

-Solutions:

1.Stacking players receive more DMG or a proximity condition.
2.Aggro pulling on high DMG ranged or untouched ranged players.
3.Reducing effects on mob/boss or enlarging it.

-Core DNA I enjoy and would like to see used in raids:

  • Jumping Puzzles: Separating paths into actual exploration choices: The Mob, The traps, The JP.
  • Floating-moving platforms- let’s say a 1-2 person weight enchanted rock flying above boiling magma to avoid stacking and train jumping/dodge jumping skills.
  • Dynamic Events/Temple Mechanics: Temple events in Orr for instance could be a nice way to progress inside a raid to move onward unlocking the next stage.

Progress- Loot/Gear/Crafting/Skins:

WARNING THIS IS GOING TO SOUND CRAZY

  • Our economy evolves around crafting.
  • Early dawn for GW2, Bundle weapons were a thing, a huge thing for some.
  • Siege weapons in WvW are something that haven’t surfaced to PvE yet.

Here’s how all these combine:
Entering a raid won’t let you complete it in one go. To progress through the battlefield you need to bring in weapons and siege engines.
Some parts (“wings”) require specific weapon bundles or siege to fight through.
These Siege weapons and bundle weapons are crafted from materials gained through the raid instance itself.

You can even take this concept to the extent that some crafting trading skills require the product of a different trading skill and combine an entire guild effort to craft these Siege/Bundle weapons in order to progress inside the raid.

- Example for bundle weapon:
A gas thrower meant to slay X mob in certain pathway (I dunno which mob, mutant rats if you’d like. have some imagination!).

- Example for Siege weapon: Oh come on! haven’t you looked around Black Citadel?! All these wasted tanks and siege engines!

well that’s about what I had in mind, I know it’s not written in a CDI quality but I had to share what’s on my mind for once.

Yes, I don’t know how NCsoft- ANet business relationship works.
No, I’m not naive thinking business decisions are calculated on profit, that’s a fact in any product, unless it’s a free product (all products not just games).

My point was Trading Post view only and how it will affect it, the rest of the topic was emotional mumble I just puked on the way. And beg your pardon for it.

And back to Zaced, back in the day, you’d pay sub, some people may say cash shop isn’t the best business plan ever, but man gem store as it is now is way better then the rest I’ve seen so far. Subscription? I don’t care about subscription, I find it better then cash shop, because then all these items you buy on gem store now can be rewards for in game stuff. BUT, gw2 isn’t about grinding, nonetheless players grind their brains out, and that’s ok because that’s what MMO players do anyway. You can’t go and make everyone happy.

And Yes, I believe ANet can get itself out of NCsoft’s ownership, there are contracts and contracts have time gate or money gate. ANet is a company of it’s own and NCsoft is only the publisher, you can look at ANet as some NASCAR racer with lot’s of coca cola or other companies tags on his jacket and car. But that’s what it is. (not in the advertising bit but in way that NCsoft pays a sum to ANet and receives the money made by gem store [I think that’s how it works]).

Now hope, yes I have hope, infect my hope is so large that I actually pay 10$ a month, not in sake of the gems alone, but as a token of my appreciation. Yes, there have been some mistakes made along way, like the NPE we like the rant so much. But look a bit on the past of GW2… Players ranted that LS is a one time thing and that you must get on it when it’s up, also add the ranting about the frequency, and how the content was not satisfying enough. and we got an instanced story mode that is being released slowly and people rant about that too.

Players will rant, that’s what players do, they want more, they want better.
Heck! Players are asking for “Hardcore” content, I bet then when this will come, if, Players will rant on how hard it is and how they want more casual stuff.

“Milk the players”- I don’t think the gem store is milking players in any way. I said the new transition will make the economy unstable. Yes I showed up some irrelevant personal feeling that grow in me, and to be fair, these feelings only growing by listening to others. If I’d just play the game and have no concern what so ever what anyone else think, I would never have come to a conclusion that “hey this NPE sucks” “This Gem rates are ridiculous”. The gem store is only aesthetic, yes as any other aspect of this game is, but it’s irrelevant for you playing experience. Sure there are some convenience in the gem store, like more bags, more bank space and larger material deposit. Sure you can pay a load of money to have some gold. But if you look at this on the content only player’s perspective, you’d log in, do the LW content, do some achies and then leave. And that’s ok! If you’d look on the casual social player, you’d log in do the daily, chat with /m or guild and log off. Having this skin or that skin isn’t beneficial at all.

Yes this game have a huge problem with reward system that’s true.
Will you spend 4 hours in a raid just to get the top gear item just that in some months from then you’d have to do the same for bigger and bigger stat number?

All in all, gw2 still rest hope in me. Why?
*Because of it’s combat mechanics which are fun to play hours on ours with.
*Because of the fact that I’m not tied to it, I don’t pay sub (well I do but it doesn’t bother me as much as in other games).
*Because of the fact that every thing is a huge party and no activity ties me into some schedule (sure guild missions and PvP groups maybe WvW, but you can look at it as the hardcore, and it doesn’t affect me personally).

So that’s all I had to say about Zaced Comment, wow I went over OP.

Edit: Smooth Penguin, I’m sorry, I looked this over and couldn’t find anything that reflects my thoughts on the issue only until now.

I see a lot of rage around the new Gem to gold/ Gold to Gem conversion system, and for a right reason.

This system, if twisted around (sell 400 gems for x amount of gold and buy with 1 gold instead rates) will be better for the economy instead of how it is now.
Buying 400 gems balk is very hurtful for gem rates. Now players will be forced to buy 400 gems at once instead of being able to buy few at a time. This will end up raising the gem prices to sky rocketing highs.

If it was the other way around, it would force gem sellers to sell 400 gems on a bulk, resulting in lowering the gem prices.

Any way looking at it, this change unbalance the gem conversion rates.

Is it something that will make me rage over so hard and leave the game? we’ll see in the future “fixes” or patches ANet is throwing at us.

Can I live with it? only for now. Gem rates will skyrocket, making the entire BLTC unbalanced, resulting in gold inflation, higher prices, and overall rant.

I really start to doubt the whole Idea of CDI, and if these changes are made by listening to player base on these forums and on Reddit, please, ANet stop listening to us.
You made a great game without listening to us.

If it’s a money greed resulting from growing pressure from NCsoft…. Please ANet release yourselves from NCsoft’s grasp in some way!

I really have hope about this game, but as it progress I lose bits of this hope.

EU- LF PvE social and activity oriented guild

Hey guys, I’m from piken square but any EU world guild can do.
I’m looking for a creative and cooperative guild that more often than not players actually play together and have a room to create their own adventures and share them with the guild.

My strongest so far aspect in the game is trading post, but I want to abandon it for jumping puzzle sake and to belong in a fun environment besides the luxury of gold and gems, and armor/legendary shenanigans.

I’d like to find the guild which will allow me, with the members interest, to form my own activities (like dungeons/ JP/explorations/ story telling-writing) and of course to participate in other’s.

Please either post here, PM me or try to catch me in game.

Guild halls? no. Guild Airships!!!!!!

GOAL OF PROPOSAL

To give the idea of guild halls more functionality than just a meeting place

PROPOSAL FUNCTIONALITY

GvG airship battles with characters jumping accross to each other, Pirates of the carribean style, siege cannons blasting, mid flight battles through clouds, the epicness we all hoped for when we first saw airships in the trailer.

Upgrade and kit your Guild airship out with siege, repair crews, medical crews, pilots and the like to ready yourselves to set sail!

Take your guild on an airship journy through the mists to discover new undiscovered lands and dungeons! Explore the mysteries and dangers within as a guild group! Beware enemy guilds also discovering these pockets of reality!

Possibilities for expansion are pretty awesome.

OMG the best guild hall suggestion EVER! Not only it adds the guild hall functionality but much much more.

I bet this could never work and will never see light in Tyria, its a too complex idea to implement, it’s a new game entirely, it adds so many aspects and will need years of development.

It would be amazing if it will happen in Tyria…. Awww I brt I’ll dream about this sometime now….

Took me 3 hours reading all the comments, discussions and brain storming.

Here are my thoughts :

Guild chat
As for now the majority asks for chat to show all guild chats.
My addition to this notion: Customizable Chat channels, this tool can be used by players to gather up their friends from different guilds or oustide guilds and form new circles. (though this is off topic I thout this point needed to be strengthened as to not be forgotten afterwards ).

Calendar- huge thumbs up for that one. additionally speaking of guild halls I think this tool should be stationed in a guild hall to make the GH attract the members inside.

Guild Bank- guild hall tools of deposit
I have seen some post mention crafting stations inside guild hall and a way to withdraw materials from the guild bank material tab idea. This created the issue of the gready member taking and not giving. To resolve this thought experiment why not set it as: withdraw mats from the bank, deposit the product in return. When the items tab get clogged members can no longer withdraw materials to craft and the guild will either sell/salvage/use the crafted items.
In addition, you can add a list of items that are required, managed by officers and the leader. (also a wishlist by members)

Guild Hall QoL thoughts
In my opinion GH is a social Cafe meeting place, so a quality of life issue should be sit-able chairs.

(please excuse any grammar /misspellings it’s 2:30 am when I started writing this, and finished readin the cdi from start to finish on my mobile phone inside my bed, heh and I thout I’d go to sleep early tonight…)

Why default sell to highest buyer?

Ugh, economy… Players often do the mistake of selling as thw default and that’s only one thing that keeps the economy as it is.
The default on the first TP was the same (sell to highest buyer).
Now if it’s on default to sell as lowest seller what will happen is that players which doesn’t take their time to sell items will sell to lowest seller, sellers which undercut to get first in line will be shoved back by those who sell without minding and so on untill the lowest seller ties with highest buyer. This phenomenon won’t work the other way as much as on sell to lowest buyer is set to default.

Setting sell as lowest seller can harm the economy and the traders playground.
I as a seller, thought to quit the game when I first saw “sell as lowest seller” set to default. Not to mention the fact that observing prices is easier then ever, I dare not even think how this will result.

Actually, on TP 1.0 it was default “sell to highest buyer”.
This is a pretty crucial part of the TP, without it prices will mostly go down and down, because undercutting.
Buy lists won’t cut the business as they did and overall it will harm the economy.

Today I discussed with my brother about the new feature pack in gw2 (which he doesn’t play) and we both came to a realization that these new features came as an addiction triggers.

Level Gating Addiction Triggers
ArenaNet took systems from the game and dismantled them to appear on different levels.
Now how does this works as addiction triggers?
The game, as you progress as a new player, unveil its features slowly and in a form of rewards.
As you level and the game unveil more of it and reward you slowly, you enter a state of anticipation for the next reward and the one after that.

What went wrong here, in my opinion, is that this system came 2 years later. Also it doesn’t really stand with the game’s philosophy (ugh I know this is a weak spot ). Besides philosophy and late appearing, it offends the current player base.

Collecrions- Horizontal hoarder addiction boost
Sure, we asked for new stuff to do, new rewards, more things to farm (eventually).
But look on these collection, what do they stand for? Why should we do them? What’s their point?
These are just hoarder’s achievement system and rewards, to boost players’ will to farm, search, collect and claim the reward, and eventually play more.

They even added nice collections, like spoons, bugs in jars and such.
Just to make them childish and fun to collect, and you don’t require any graphic enjine for this just imagination.

I’m not against collections, I just point out they are aimed to create more addiction triggers and they aim at a larger player base then other reward tracks, like WvW/Dungeons etc…

I really like the collection achievement, the new icons ANet implemented play a large role in this as well, the achievement visual view/ presentation is great to stimulate players to collect and get addicted to doing so

All in all
The way ANet changed the leveling experience to a gated content and systems harms both new players (no body like to be fed with a spoon, and nobody likes to be barred off) and the current player base.

Collections are a fun thing to do, but my main complaint against them is thet they play rhe role of addiction stimulation. And I never thought GW2 will come to a point it will play out on addiction over adventure and content.

I came across this bug last week when someone killed me and none of my items dropped :/ So yes, it is a bug. It is on our radar and we are looking in to getting a fix in for it.

I prefer Living Story to be released in a 1 month period in which parts of it patch up by time and larger content is released slower.
Here are my reasons:
1. In a 1 month period ArenaNet has more time to develop the story better then in 2 weeks deadline killing schedule.
2. Releasing small parts of the content piece by piece ( like they did with 2012 halloween) will prevent the first day rush to complete achievements, and most important will let us the players digest the story.
3. We won’t need to chase these achievements in the panic we are now.

-The best presentation so far(!):
The story instance, though it felt like a traditional ‘quest’ I could really sence a RP feeling in it. Something that so far I felt Tyria lack, the sense of story telling was dead on spot.

-Monotonic salvager hunt/ Champion train zerg all over again.
I noticed that as hard ANet tries to rewrd our effort the larger the zergs become and the content becomes more easy to cut through. The masses of players roaming together acting as a hive or an individual organism just hide the content. We sworm like fire ants on any event, any champion and instead of listening and feeling the content, the zerg moves onward for the sake of loot.

I think making Living Story rewards permanent to account will make the items lose their value, as the item will be available to all characters you’ll see more and more people with Living World items and their value in the beholder will be lost.

Hey beloved ArenaNet and Guild Wars 2 Players!
Recently I have seen the anniversary bash and I noticed that you said there that you seek for a way to deliver te stories in Tyria in a “better” way.

How about a library? An ingame, full library, with interactive books that players can choose to read.
How about placing there an “Historian NPC” that will tell stories, the past stories, history that happened in Tyria?

And of course every library need a sit-able chairs!
We want to sit on chairs! not only role-players but every player in Tyria would like from time to time to chill out on a nice looking chair!

Dear John Smith,
I’m a trader and just a little time ago my income was slightly above 30 gold a day
Frop the trading post.
These days,with combined methods I make roughly 150-200 gold a day from trading post and farming.
I am really worried about this inflation as many items slowly but steadly goes up.

I really trusted you to keep the economy as it is, while silver and copper has a value.
I understand that the staff just answered players crys for champion rewards, dungeon rewards and soon even jumping puzzles rewards.
But can’t it be rewarding and not to harm the economy.
Please stick to your words, I remember that when I entered the first beta weekend
ArenaNet promised no “grind”, no farming, today all I see is farming and grinding.

I hope someone in ArenaNet sees this note,
Please be true to yourselves and keep Guild Wars 2 the best inovating MMO that it is.

Other methods of travel –
-mounts- won’t happen. Maps too small for that.
-Wagons boats etc that’s actually nice and interesting!

I think that there are more important things to focus on though.

We already have mounts in the game, The Riding Broom.

That’s not a mount just cosmetic broom underneath, no speed bonus and not practical.

Player Shops – nope, not a good idea at all. That’s why we have the trading post.
By having a shop option players will inflate the market determining their own prices and a confusion by having many shops that the buyer need to actually walk from one to another to find a “good price”.

Player housing – We do have the home district though I thought it would be more like what you said.

Other methods of travel –
-mounts- won’t happen. Maps too small for that.
-Wagons boats etc that’s actually nice and interesting!

I think that there are more important things to focus on though.

How are you supposed to get the precursors?

Here’s how I do it: Leave the MF alone, gather your friends and do jumping puzzles for the chests, go hunt chests and do the daily world bosses for chests.
Seems like chests are the only thing that has a nice chance to drop a precursor.
Now, you can have two choices- either trade a precursor you own with what you need or keep farming with your friends (team of 5 intensify the chance to get the precursor 5 times, obviously) and share your precursors as you need.

Hello everyone,
I would like to know what can be assumed as an exploit, exploiting the Trading Post so I can be aware and not fall for an exploit I didn’t know of.
I would like to open a RP guild which focus on playing the market to earn gold for the guild, lower prices in the trading post for others benefit and sharing the gold with other RP guilds via RP (Example pay 10 gold a character to hire mercenaries).

The issue itself alarms me that it might be an exploit, using the trading post, inflation deflation it. Although these things happen by resellers and other traders.

I had a guild with the same purpose in WoW and it was ok by Blizzard, I would like to know if it’s ok by Anet too.

It’s merely playing the trading post, as a feature in a game I assume it’s playable.
Also it’s a nice added complimentary aspect for role-players as they earn “free gold” for doing what they always do and now able to afford gear as well.

Yeah I know, but there are some issues that can be fixed in game fast enough.
And it has this personal touch to it, the Support page feels too bureaucratic to me.
