We’re aware of the issue and are looking into it.
I’ll update here as I get them.Temp Workaround:
(This will not work for everyone)As a temporary bypass add -assetsrv 64.25.41.2 to your Gw2 Shortcut in the Target Section (you will want to clear this out at a later date)
64.25.41.3, 64.25.41.4 may also work
The workaround helped for me. Thank you, Chris, and hope you resolve this soon.
Yep, same. Just as i started my week off, ha. Oh well, gonna play something else in the meantime.
Wait, i don’t play anything else.
ANET PLS FIX.
Maniac nailed it, pretty much. Both of those conditions are bread and butter of Condi Engie DPS, and focusing on one in particular will result in a DPS loss (both burst and sustained).
(edited by Tomas.5029)
I’d actually be quite happy if Holosmith ended up being a Healer spec, which would mean that we could fill both a DPS and a Healer spot in Fractals/Raids like Druid with its Condi and Healer spec.
1. Buy Heart of Thorns expansion.
2. Go to Verdant Brink.
3. Level up.
4. \o/
I’m pretty sure i’ll work something out with the chest, gloves and boots. Helm and shoulders on the other hand… Meh.
You have to remember that Central Tyria maps are pretty dated. The game was released in 2012, but the textures are obviously way older than that, so it’s pretty obvious why your old rig can handle those maps just fine.
HoT on the other hand, as you surely have noticed, is visibly much more dense when it comes to environments and effects.
In short, i’m afraid there is no way around it, but to upgrade your PC.
-An incredible variety of ways to build your Engie.
-Utility powerhouse. Blind? You got it. Immobilize/Cripple/Chill? You betcha. Fields and blasts? Whenever and wherever.
-One of the most efficient break bar destroyers.
-Insane burst, even as Condi.
-A commando when it comes to boss mechanics. Master race at seeker control, amazing at keeping Gorseval’s spirits at bay, one of the best picks for cannon duty on Sabetha and so on.
-Frantic gameplay that never lets you slack, if you seek to play it at a high level.
In general, no other class is as fun to play to me as an Engineer.
To me, if anything, our character was too soft on Caithe. The fact that he brought her along, and allowed her to be armed during the deciding moments of the story, was confusing, to say the least.
Commander has every right to be highly distrustful of Caithe. She pretended to be on board with our plans, acted as she’s a part of the team, yet she completely undermined our efforts at the most crucial of moments.
This fact gets even more despicable when you remember a moment when she blatantly follows you around the Silverwastes, just to learn what’s your next move in order to undermine it.
Look at it from the perspective of a military leader, responsible for hundreds if not thousands of lives; after many sacrifices, your goal is within your reach, yet one individual steals it away from you, and her only excuse (at a later date) is incredibly vague to say the least. The commander had to, once again, risk the lives of their friends, their soldiers, and themselves, in order to reach the egg once more, just to hear Caithe be completely ignorant of the fact, and offer an explanation of “i just got too deep into that Wyld Hunt thing”. And if she didn’t drop the egg, she’d probably still be on the run, since she never turned down an opportunity to sneak out while everyone was fighting for their lives.
If it was up to me, she’d be stripped of any rank/status.

Well, after rocking a very rugged, very Iron Legion-y look, i decided to go for a very high-tech set for my Engi :].
The dyes are Abyss, Dust and a mix’n’match of some bright Green ones.
Head: Scrapper Mask
Weapon: Scientific Hammer
Backpiece: The very basic Spinal Blade Pack (i personally can’t stand any form of “wings”)
Rest of the set: Magitech
Hey there.
Ever since the Bandit bounties came out, the Gargantula event in Harathi Hinterlands does not spawn which makes it impossible to finish one of the steps for HOPE’s Vol.4 collection for the Catalyst.
Before the Gargantula encounter, you have to free seraph guards from the spiders, however, no matter how long you stay and try within the event’s zone, it remains 6/7. The event never progresses, thus Gargantula does not spawn, and you can’t gather her poison.
I’d appreciate it if it was looked into, since this bug is an annoying brick wall for me (and many others, i’m sure) to get their awesome legendary pistol. Cheers.
I was maining Mesmer for 2 years, and i can honestly say that i always had this quiet “You have brought shame upon your people” moment, whenever i noticed another Mesmer using GS 5 on a perfectly positioned pack of mobs, ha.
Then again, i kind of understand this being simple muscle memory, as during leveling it’s good to use the knockback just to get some extra damage from GS’ 1 (which deals more damage the further away you are).
Hey guys.
So recently, i decided to make an Engi alt, just for fun, and to make a long story short, it became my main as soon as i realized how incredibly kick kitten and satisfying the gameplay of this class is.
For a month or so, i was playing as a hammer scrapper with zerker gear, but i always kept hearing how condi is the way to go not only for raids, but also higher level fractals, so after finishing my berserker ascended armor, i converted it to viper. Additionally, i leveled up as a condi p/p build, and it was fun, so it wasn’t like i was going in blindly, basing it all on the data i found on the internet.
And it is. The damage is great, this “minigame” of switching your kits around to combo conditions together, and simply wielding two pistols feels good – it fits the class fantasy really well.
However, i found myself getting downed a whole, whole lot more than on my hammer build.
Hammer Scrapper seems to have a bunch more tools to continuously put out pressure on mobs while mitigating their damage in one way or another. Rocket Charge has a brief evade, Shock Shield obviously blocks everything during its cast, Electro Whirl reflects projectiles, Thunderclap stuns, Rocket Charge + Thunderclap stuns even more, and on top of that i have my dodges.
While on Condi, i feel as if i have to choose between surviving something or outputting its trademark DPS. I feel as if my dodges are the only defense mechanism that do not break my rotation momentum.
And now, when the (more or less) accurate DPS rankings came out, and it turned out that Power Engi does technically the same DPS as Condi, i seem to contemplate going back to the big ol’ Fix’r Upper, with its survivability aspects stacked against p/p.
Well, this was longer than i intended, so
TL;DR: Is this an l2p issue? Am i missing something? Or condi really is much squishier than power?
Less violets, I say, MORE VIOLENCE.
All the best pvp builds require HoT that makes it kinda p2w tbh.
Well, that’s like saying that WoW is P2W, because it requires monthly payment. The game’s B2P; always was, and always will be. If someone doesn’t have HoT, they’re basically playing on endless trial mode.
Greatsword is a good soloing/wvw weapon but in dungeons/fractals it’s really weak. Currently there is no place for a party member standing far, far back trying to snipe, it’s all about getting face to face with mobs and the bosses, and as we know, GS’s auto attack power is dependant on how far away you are from your target.
Maybe someday this will change, but for now it is what it is, and if you care even remotely about being useful and efficient, you need to adapt.
So considering that you will be in melee range 99,9% of the time, the relatively okay-ish iZerker pales in the comparition of Sword’s Vulnerability stacking, Boon ripping auto attack, low cd distortion, and the pistol/off sword/focus phantasm.
Despite me being rather critical of the farm, there was nothing inherently wrong about it. The only thing that’s wrong, is what you guys mentioned – the reward system.
The thing is, Guild Wars 2 lacks unique rewards. What exactly do you get for keeping all the keeps safe, and then defeating all 5 champions? Champ bags. That’s it, champ bags and Rares that you can find everywhere else – dungeons, world bosses, fractals, and wvw.
The players got put in a situation where they had to choose between staying in a zone, doing events (no matter how fun and innovative) for an hour or so to get somewhere around 6-9 champ bags; or simply go to a certain area of the map and get somewhere around 100-150 of the same bags with much less effort.
The idea of a massive profit completely overshadowed the intended objective of the zone, purely because you don’t get anything out of the ordinary for playing as intended.
You do not get rewarded for your effort, but for your attendance. The system rewards everyone with equally useless things no matter how amazing or how badly they play.
If ANET was to put something really special for being successful during the breach, more people would be like “I want that. Chest farm is profitable, yes, but oh god i want that.”
So my thoughts haven’t changed since my last post.
Chest farm didn’t neccessairly require a nerf – it’s the alternatives that required a buff.
If a mindless farm of chests becomes the be-all and end-all so swiftly, that means that something is clearly wrong with the reward system.

Similarly to classes such as Engineer, or Elementalist, Mesmer can range either from barely average to very powerful.
If the Mesmer knows boss mechanics, knows how and when use certain utilities such as portal, knows what phantasm they should place at specific boss fights, then we have someone who easily fits into the current PvE meta.
If the Mesmer is capable of sustaining at least 2 phantasms throughout the entirety of a boss fight, his or her DPS will be in the upper half as phantasms make up for 60% of mesmer’s total DPS.
Time Warp is currently the strongest elite skill for speed runs. After the toning down of FGS, no elite in the game gives such a drastic DPS increase for the entire group as TW does.
Well used portal can cut the time of a dungeon run by minutes.
Mesmers have also the strongest, and the most sustainable projectile reflection in the game (100% uptime in an ideal situation).
As it stands, Mesmer, despite needing a buff here and there, is a very strong class and most definitely has a place in the current PvE meta.
I knew this was going the happen the moment i learned that Silverwastes will not have a “Sandstorm” mechanic when it comes to chests.
In my opinion, they could tone it down by lengthening the time out period by another 5 minutes, but making the chests farmable only during this period, making it essentialy a “You farmed your crests, now you got 10 minutes to use them” period. The moment the events start rolling, the shovels would become unusable until the next time out. Which also should lead to making the Shovels a buyable item for crests.
The big positive side for this farm would be the fact that people are finally able to afford those high end items they really wanted, but never had the time to dedicate hours of time to them like Ascended items, Legendary weapons, or the very rare Mystic Forge exotics (like Whisperblade etc).
The big negative is that it has become the be-all end-all farming spot. Everything else pales in comparision – halloween lab, dungeons, world boss farming etc. – nothing brings you such sheer profit as the chest farm. I personally don’t think that it’s a healthy thing for this world to have that. Some zones and areas of the game are already kind of abandoned (Fractals are such a pain to organize through lfg these days), and this is only worsening this problem.
So, either tone it down, or make other alternatives just as attractive.
To me, “efficiency” of berserker/assassin gear is a nice bonus.
I like to go for berserker/assassin in pve (especially in high level fractals), because it makes me pay more attention to boss animations, mechanics, and in general forces me to watch my back. Which, as a result makes me a better player in every aspect of the game.
Of course, berserker and assassin should not be the be-all and end-all of PvE, but if your group asks you to have it, either switch the group or honor their request.
Chests can drop from various things such as champ bags, wvw chests, fractal dailies etc. The chance is legendary slim however, especially if you’re aiming for
specific stats. The only reasonable and efficient way of acquiring weapons and armor is crafting.
I actually dig the shoulders. They fit well with the rest of my transmutated set for my mesmer.
Then perhaps the class should renamed since it strays so far from what actual Dervishes stand for?
Reaver perhaps?
I’m not saying that Guardian is Dervish, i’m saying that some elements of the class were included into the Guardian ie. hard hitting melee fighter that is more supportive than the warrior.
Same goes with the Ritualist for example. Mesmer’s phantasms are loosely based on the spirits, which is why it is extremely unlikely we will see RTs in GW2 (plus the lore reasons – their magic is obsolete)
And then, like you said, to make it fair, ANET would have to include a special class for each of the races. That’s five new classes in total with unique skills, traits, animations etc.
Thus, once again, extremely unlikely that we will ever see this kind of system in Guild Wars 2. Guild Wars 3, perhaps, but as it is, it just seems like way too much work that could be put elsewhere.
(edited by Tomas.5029)
While those are really cool ideas, it is extremely unlikely that we will ever see a Dervish as a playable class in gw2 due to their lore.
You see, Dervish is a champion of the human gods. Their powers come directly from them. Thus they are human exclusive. Making Dervish as a playable class in gw2 would make as much sense as making an “Iron Legion Engineer” class that’s not exclusice to the charr.
That’s why anet is not doing it and instead integrated many of derv’s elements into the guardian, and gave all humans the ability to become avatars.

I just wanted to take a second to congratulate you guys for Echoes of the Past. I’ve been somewhat critical of the Living Story so far, but this has surprised me in a very positive way.
Not only did we get a much, much engaging and satisfying experience from the story quests, but you also added a whole new map with new events, new vistas, more lore than ever before, and new stuff to work towards, and two new sets that are actually obtainable in game and not through gems (huge deal!) – all in one patch. Pretty kitten impressive.
I must say that if this is what future for GW2 looks like, and this is how you will handle future content patches, i will gladly throw my money at you to support you.
A step in an amazing direction, Anet. Well done!
I actually wanted to make a thread about it this second. Can’t seem to figure out how to get past that gate.
Swordsman evades, but swordsman deals single target damage, while Berserker hits everyone in its path.
If you want him to survive the first spin, just get Triumphant Distortion. It’s basically a must have in WvW currently.
Like the title said. I’ve submitted a ticket to the support 2 days ago, and i only got the automatic “your ticket will be reviewed shortly” email so far.
What’s the average wait time for it to be answered?
I have 100% world completion on 3 characters, and i never really thought like the WvW is difficult, or whatever. I never mobilized anyone to help me with it, i simply took my time.
But, i do agree that WvW should not count for World completion as it’s simply not a part of the world. It’s in the mists.
So that would be my advice – simply take your time with it. Each day try to get 2-3 pois or vistas, and sooner or later it will add up to 100% completion. If your server owns a specific color, make it your duty to complete it before the reset. Simply hop in, check the map out, and grab what you can every few hours. Then go over to other borderlands, and grab the two vistas and one skill point located in the south. Then, if you can get more, do push north. If you can’t, simply get busy with something else, and wait for a switch of colors.
Bumping this thread with my new mesmer look. My goal was to make him look like an upper-class citizen (despite the fact that my mesmer is a commoner) or a high ranked war general, just try to get that oldschool GW1 mesmer feel.
Head: Heritage Mask (no other option for me. this is THE mesmer headpiece)
Shoulders: WvW Exotic
Chest: Ascended
Gloves: Vigil
Legs: Vigil
Boots: Zodiac (suprisingly, the spike doesn’t clip through the legs!)
Mainhand: Whisperblade
Off-hand: The Anomaly
Dyes: Midnight Purple, and Sincerity
I mean, i completely understand why our characters no longer talk. 2 different voice actors for each race costs a lot, and takes a whole lot of time.
I think they could simply re-use some of our character’s lines for certain situations. They did so with Trahearne’s “The enemy is here” (or something like that) in the latest LS.
Our characters have literally thousands of lines, so i’m sure there’s a whole bunch of neutral ones that could fit in some situations.
I recently leveled up my engineer to 80, and i must say that all was fine until i reached a moment when i started meeting characters who recognized me (“We meet again, Commander”), but i was not yet introduced to those characters.
Overall, the Orr storyline currently is a huge mess, it doesn’t make any sense, and it’d be best for ANET to fix it, as it simply doesn’t speak well of the company, it makes them look like they honestly don’t care (even though we know it’s not true).
Mesmer fits perfectly into the Meta, and is generally a very good, versatile class in PvE. With the nerf of Ele’s Fiery Greatsword, Time Warp became one of the strongest skills a speed-run could get.
Yes, like TrOtskY said, Condition damage as is may be useless for PvE, but it’s really kitten strong in PvP and WvW.
In its current form, any, even relatively small buffs to Conditions would perhaps make them viable for PvE, but as a result it would completely shatter the balance of PvP and WvW.
The only option is to re-design how conditions work, and that, i’m afraid won’t be coming any time soon.
Time gating is only a huge issue when your game charges subscription each month. GW2 does not. You can take your time, and craft everything you want at your own pace.
And like it has been mention above, you can bypass a lot of the time gates just by buying stuff from TP.
The thing that players truly want is a challenge, simple as that. They want something that cannot be cleared by an average player in 3 hours.
Yea, like 0,5% of the players want that, so technically youre right, practically – no.
I think you got it twisted slightly, and did not read my post entirely.
I am not calling for hardcore difficulty content that indeed only 0.9% of the playerbase even gets to see (Oldschool Naxxramas from WoW could be the example).
I am making a suggestion to create content that rewards effort, and not simply attendance.
My suggestions are simple – if you’re a casual, and you don’t want anything changed, and you just want to log in, kill some stuff, get some loot, and just generally relax, you’d still have that.
However, those who want more, and those who like to be awarded for their skillful play, should be. Again, i’d like you to read my post. Its direct answer to your post.
Pavillion was a big mistake on ANets part
Dry Top should be exception, not the rule, it goes under same hat as pavillion.
You agai and again metion these rewards (bribes), BUT content should first stand on its own, then and ONLY then it can be measured how many people want it. So no, no special rewards or anything such, if its extremely popular -> make more.
Otherwise youre just making a point most people that do this content are interested in the rewards anyway, they dont give a kitten if its challenging or not. So making “easy” content with nice rewards is actually way to go. Yeah, that 0,0001% that actually want challenging content because its challenging content get screwed, but thats how it is.
Well, the rewards (or “bribes” as you so elegantly put it) are an integral part of RPGs, whether you like it or not. New, shining loot that requires patience and dedication attracts players. If this wasn’t the case, no one would go for that Legendary or Ascended armor.
If we go by what you say, that players actually want more stuff for less effort (which i kind of doubt, after observing LA’s chat for a year), then ANET should at least make it more enjoyable to repeat it. Like i mentioned in my previous post, the last instance of the latest Living Story patch was really good in this regard, because it introduced Challenge Mode, which made the encounter feel more exciting and dangerous the second time you play it. Even the Mordrem mobs are a step in the right direction, because they hit hard, and you actually need to watch yourself when fighting them, especially when you wear Berserker’s/Assassin’s gear.
The thing that players truly want is a challenge, simple as that. They want something that cannot be cleared by an average player in 3 hours.

My definition of end game is simple: “stuff to do when you reach level cap with your character”.
Is there stuff to do in GW2? Sure, lots of it. But is it satisfying? So-so.
The thing that players truly want is a challenge, simple as that. They want something that cannot be cleared by an average player in 3 hours.
My suggestion would be to simply implement “Challenge Mode” for dungeons, the same challenge mode we’ve seen in the last instance of the latest LS. Same instance, but a bit more difficult, with bosses having new mechanics.
Give us something like “Timed Runs” during those challenge modes. Reward organized groups for clearing the dungeon swiftly. It could work like the Personal Difficulty mechanic in fractals, only it would be named Personal Time Record, and each time you beat your record, you get rewarded.
Reward people who clear the challenge modes with unique skins. One clear gives you a unique 1 armor or weapon part. Collect 10 parts, and you can trade it for a skin of your choice. This could be equivalent of the unique PvP armor for PvErs.
Create new achievements based on the Challenge Modes, and and a meta achievement for clearing all dungeons paths that grants a title “Ascended Dungeon Master”.
For those who prefer the Open World, basically Dry Top is a step in the right direction. Implement a new zone, and give us a reason to be there, to complete the events, and reward us for our activity in that region.
Make the less popular maps more popular by implementing something like a “Bounty” system. Place new, big and hard to kill champs/bosses on different zones (besides Orr of Frostgorge) as a part of a “Daily Bounty Hunt”. Reward players for doing those bounty hunts not only with champ bags, but let’s say a chance to get a new mini, or a booster, or a rare exotic weapon.
New, challenging world boss daily repeatable achievements that give 1AP, and 3 additional champ bags. For example:
-Don’t get knocked back by the Golem Mark II (increase the radius of the knockback to not encourage people to simply range him)
-Partake in destroying at least 6 portals during the Shadow Behemoth fight (would encourage people to actually move their butts, not just stand in the middle)
-Partake in every activity during the Claw of Jormag fight (Kill at least one champ Ice Elemental that spanws near the turrets, help taking down the wall with charzookas, DPS the Claw when the wall is down)
-Etc.
Those are very rough ideas, but you get the picture. Just give us more stuff to do that actually require effort, not just attendance, and reward us for those things.
What others said, Engineer is a skill-based class, and it’s up there with Elementalist when it comes to unforgivingness. If you know what to do, you’re OP; If not, you’re a waste of party spot.
Mesmer becomes fun when it has lots of tools, traits and utilities at his disposal to use as it seems fit.
Thus, at lower levels, it won’t be too enjoyable. Virtually every class 1-70 performs better than the Mesmer. At 80 though, once you unlock your traits, things take a drastic turn and it’s super fun to play one.
Thief is a class with a rather high skill cap. A lot depends on how you manage your initiative and cooldowns.
Can’t speak anything about Ranger, because i generally don’t like the Hunter/Archer type of classes, so i never played one past lvl 10.
That’s not light armor exclusive. I’m crafting a heavy ascended armor set right now, and having to get 300 silk scraps with current prices every single day is just not fun.
I can’t call myself a “casual” GW2 player. I’ve spent some cash on the gem store to get some armor set skins, bag and bank slots, but i have never spent real life money on chests, hoping for tickets, as i generally am not a fan of gambling with my hard earned cash for things that hold no value in the real world.
I’ve been playing GW2 for a year now (including a 4 month break), and i got myself 6 Black Lion weapon skins without really paying too much attention to it.
It’s like a little ritual. Every week, i farm 4-5 keys from the lvl 10 personal story step.
Even now, after the changes which made the farm a little bit more time consuming, i managed to get 4 scraps, and buy another Chaos skin.
It’s not that hard, peeps. Take it easy, don’t sweat it and just make a lvl 10 character every now and then. I promise that eventually you will get your favorite skins.
All other builds are still behind, despite the GS nerfs. It’s still very much the best option.
Like Mea mentioned, GS with Axe/Mace, Berserker’s Power and Fast Hands with full Zerker is the current meta.
i don’t know if this was pointed out, but 10 minutes ago i decided to make an alt and noticed that all vistas and PoI’s are once again visible on my map.
Same with wardrobe, dyes, finishers, and so on – all unlocked.
Skills were untouched though.
This is a godkitten outrage. There was literally nothing wrong with how the story of Orr worked, and now it it’s a sloppy mess that doesn’t make even a shred of sense.
I have noticed this as well, on my lvl 40 elementalist, and now i see that i’m not the only one thankfuly. I was shocked with how hard the mobs were hitting me, and how little damage i did compared to the previous patch.
Having both WvW Tournament and a new LS chapter would be too intimidating and overwhelming for the player base.
They give us 2 months to properly recover psychologically from the very scary and confusing experience that is WvW.
You can’t see them on any race (except maybe Asura and very short female humans/sylvari, maybe).
Oh dear lord, even better.
