Cowardly Warriors

in Warrior

Posted by: Azure The Heartless.3261

Azure The Heartless.3261

I’ve noticed a lot of warriors using greatswords purely for the movement abilities. This happens mostly in WvW, but I’ve also seen it in sPvP.

Okay, so what’s the problem? The players who (ab)use these abilities have the option of ejecting themselves from a fight, with almost certainty that their enemies will not be able to catch them.

This seems to go completely against the philosophy of the warrior being the brave frontline damage dealers that they were designed to be.

Unfortunately these cowardly tactics are now very widespread in WvW. At least 50% of the roaming players that I’ve encountered in the past few weeks (bronze tier NA) are greatsword warriors who pick fights and then run away when they get below ~30% health. Even thieves who try to stealth away from a fight are less frustrating and easier to catch.

I recently heard a rumor that the movement abilities of warrior greatsword and elementalist fiery greatsword were being nerfed, but those changes do not appear to have been kept for the feature patch.

Can we please do something about this cowardly play style? It’s very frustrating when more than half of the people who pick a fight with you run away as soon as they start losing, and there’s nothing you can do about it.

Not frontline damage dealers anymore, due to player QQ. Anet nerfed the greatsword damage and adrenaline for the upcoming patch, so expect to see a lot more warriors hastily retreating.

rofl. Warriors now run away, because when they actually do damage they’re too op.

50% dmg reduction in stealth back

in PvP

Posted by: Azure The Heartless.3261

Azure The Heartless.3261

are you kittening kittenting me? Thieves are the most overpowered class on this patch along with mesmers and you want 50% dmg reduction in stealth which is already the most kittened mechanic in the game by far.

stealth has no counterplay in this game and is the cheapest and most overpowered and certain disengage and a thief/mesmer/scrapper can just reset fights forever until they get a good opening

thief gameplay in a nutshell: get a bad opening? Stealth, reset fight, repeat until you get a good opening, spam 3 if you;‘re d/p or s/d or spam 5 if you’re staff thief with some dodges inbetween

thief is currently so kittening overpowered and braindead i have no kittening words what were arena net thinking ? oh right, they weren’t. They have more condi removals than elementalists , do insane dmg, unhindered by any kinds of slow/immobilization, the most stun breakers (steal isnt a stunbreaker but it does just the same thing, shadow step is 2 , infiltration signet if you run it is 3) with low cds huge kittening joke

same with mesmer except they have more dmg and less condi removal but in general are the same cancer and easy mode kitten

Yep.

Agree 100%.

Totally braindead. Stealth op.

Azure The Heartless.3261

im glad there are people who understand. thank you

this whole discussion would be unnecessary if the anti berserker crowd would simply accept the fact that nobody is going to stop them from playing how they want. and so they should not try to stop us from using our playstyle.
but instead, they are selfish and egoistic and would be better off playing a single player game if they cannot deal with other peoples playstyles or wishes.

I think there’s a disconnect between different groups of non-zerk and different groups of full zerk.

With that being said:

  • The people playing full zerk want to finish the content as fast as possible and know
what they need to do to not blow up. Not Zerker/ Not Experienced? dont slow them down.
  • Zerker has less place in “Open World” PVE/WVW./PVP. All of these modes focus on
team effort / working with players that may be new to the content.
  • Zerker has less place in Half and Full Pug Groups. New/pickup players tend to not know what they are doing and will need a slower pace to complete the dungeon.

There’s no reason to jump right into the “LFZerk” parties if you don’t meet them. 99% of the game is available for you to play geared however you want. They’re just fast tracking it to farm, and time is lost if your dps isn’t contributing as much as it possibly can. There’s need for more tanks in Open world/WVW/PVP where support of a specific individual or groups of individuals are important, and movement patterns cant be memorized.

Idea for condi rev build

Azure The Heartless.3261

Hey everyone, I was messing around with a build for a condi rev after the patch, and he had some success with it, but I wanted to get some feedback on it. I’m thinking about switching staff for hammer, but staff 5 still has nice cc
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vlAQNApXmnfNWNSuJrJRHl/kskygS4S5QJorcrklTFJNQiHsJbWVNTnSA-TZBFABDv/AAPCAFOBAMcEAiqMAA
I appreciate some feedback for it

Run sinister if you can handle it. Carrion is fine.

Tormenting is fine (That’s what I use hooray!).

Run Glint if, again, you can handle Sinister. If not, Jallis is fine. Your mobility is from blasting stone road.

If you arent running Sinister, Sigil of Air is a poor choice. youll need a sigil that is more useful than a chance of proccing on a 4% chance per hit.

Invocation is odd. If you’re going to use it (and not herald), and want your air sigils, I’d suggest speccing for fury (including fury X2 Grandmaster) since you have resistance to condis once you’re in Mallyx and reduction in Jallis.

You’re speccing tanky. It has a couple of faults but isn’t a bad build. Personally I’d go full Sinister and spec for (apply poison on torment) to jam torment and keep its uptime nice and healthy, but that’s just me. This could also work with some tweaks.

Keep staff. there’s no need for you to use hammer, and if you come across anyone with ports, leaps, dashes or otherwise unremovable sources of mobility (banish enchantment will work on people with swiftness uptime) You’re not going anywhere if they get on top of you with a +1.

i said “stack” 4 to 5 times but they never listened, at this point i knew they were noobs.

however we got bloomhunger without any problem,

next map was harpy map.

all of us fell down by knock back few times and i realize warrior showing offline.

so i voted to kick warrior and instead they kicked me.

do you think this is fair?

Yeah. Probably should have said something to them on the off chance that they were premade and you were the odd member.

Dueling Option - Forgotten?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Azure The Heartless.3261

Azure The Heartless.3261

+1 for dueling as always. wishful thinking though, I highly doubt they’ll implement it.

Again for the people who don’t want to duel, put in an option to ignore requests, simples. Doesn’t mean it should be cut out of the game completely just because some people would rather not duel their friends. That’s just silly.

Dueling is PvP and A.Net said their system design for the PvE side WAS NOT DESIGNED for any type of PvP.

That is why there are arenas in the sPvP area.

That isnt going to stop people from asking for it, arena net should just implement dueling in so people stop asking for it. Just because some people are scared that someone will laugh at their poor dueling performance it doesnt mean people don’t want it lol.

Nope Anet shouldn’t add things just because people ask for it. They should only add if it if it fits their vision for the game. My guess is that it doesn’t.

Then i guess their vision of the game doesnt include a large PVP scene l0l

It includes, like Guild Wars 1, a scene where PvP and PvE are separate entities that don’t really interact with each other. There was very little interaction between PvP and PvE in Guild Wars 1 and that was often considered a PvP-centric game.

That doesnt change the fact that dueling helps improve a pvp community, if you can go to an area where people randomly duel and you watch it’s interesting. They should have added a system where there is an area in the mists where you can duel instead of making it all instanced. Guild wars 2 is no way a PvP-centric game tho? Also guild wars 1 was no where near as pvp centric as WoW and look at how big WoW’s pvp scene is still now compared to gw1s.

So let them have arenas for dueling away from the open world. I never had a problem with that.

Like i said an area where people are dueling each other creates competitiveness, People will not randomly stumble upon people dueling and watch if its in a closed off area. Im just saying Guild wars 2 will never be competitive in the PvP scene if they arent creating an atmosphere where people can enjoy being competitive. If 2 people duel in a forrest who else knows besides them? no one, but if they duel outside a city everyone who goes past can watch the entertainment. Like i said just look at how popular WoW’s PvP is, it wouldn’t be that popular if they didn’t give players opportunities to be competitive ( dueling ).

So people can just start dueling in the middle of an event they’re not participating in and scale it up, making it harder for a person to do because they want to duel there? I don’t think that’s a good idea.

Two people wont effect a group event so significantly that it is the difference between win or loss. If two extra people not participating causes an event to fail, it was failed already. There are AFKers at every event already.

You gotta do better than that, Vayne

There aren’t AFKers at every event, unless you happen to be talking about meta events…but I’m not. Some of us actually play in the open world. Sometimes I come across an event and I’m the only one there.

Sometimes that event involves, say, protecting buildings from attacking enemies. It’s hard enough solo, running back and forth with the number of people who spawn. If two people were dueling there (or AFK there for that matter), the number of enemies would at least double. There’s no way in hell I could cope with that situation. There are many events I could think of that that would be a problem with.

I will indulge your oddly specific, fantasy situation.

“excuse me guys, could you duel away from this event, please? Thanks! I appreciate you moving away so i could finish this event! Wait? Are you serious? You guys will stop dueling to help me with the event? That is so generous! …Wah? A new peice of mail? You guys ALSO sent me 100g!? You guys rock! I was wrong about dueling all along!”

Is paid
“I was wrong about dueling”

If they’re going to attack you, they’ll reveal themselves. If they’re running away, youll be placed out of combat.

But because you can’t see what your opponent is doing at all which means you can’t do anything but make an educated guess on how to counter their next attack.

That’s the point. Playing a guessing game is not difficult. If a thief is winning, theyll stick around. If they are not, most likely they will run. Using your brain should not be an inconvenience.

I’m saying it removes counterplay.

No it doesnt. Some classes can reveal instantly by pressing one button. Interestingly enough, thieves do not have counterplay to this.

Pugging with a premade party is always dangerous.

If I see my party is premade I wont even talk to them because I know they will kick me instantly if I do as much as asking for banners or reflections, etc.

Which is not the way it should be, but in my experience premades can bully others easily and get away with it.

I’ve had good times with premades; actually. If you say hi and do other things that prove you arent a robot (like requesting a stack on a boss with AOE wipes) you are more likely to run the path smoothly.

It’s just like full pugs. either you get a terrible premade or you dont.

What is the state of Thief class in PVP?

in Thief

Posted by: Azure The Heartless.3261

Azure The Heartless.3261

Thief is still op.

Mesmer is just judged by lower standards than thief. Thieves expect to be op.

Thief is second only to ele in terms of opness

Can I be frank?

you’re spouting garbage.

EDIT: Never mind, he’s doing it on purpose.

Thieves are not unhappy about being a +1 class, they are unhappy about not being able to smack the living hell out of everyone but the tankiest builds. If they would look at the big picture objectively they would realize that they are not weak just that the playing field has been leveled out a bit.

Also garbage. Tired of people on the outside looking in trying to tell me how I feel.

I have no sustain.

Every other class got a dps boost.

Its painfully simple.

I dont care how long the kitten fight takes or whether or not I do a little or a lot of damage to a specific build. I need to be able to sustain long enough to make either leaving or winning an option.

Right now I can do neither.

EDIT: I want to tack on that I find the fact that every other dev is providing dps increases for the respective classes they oversee, but for the most part thieves are getting clunky ways to avoid that damage without any baseline sustain or baseline methods to deal with it.

The old feline grace should have been baseline. Fleet shadow should be baseline. Instead we got the former avenue crippled and the latter in a line that nobody wants to take because it’s borderline useless when considered practically.

I still need to look at DD. It’s so clunky atm though that I wont use it if it’s like that at release.

New player, couple of questions

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Azure The Heartless.3261

Azure The Heartless.3261

Hey all, new to the Guild Wars world and had some questions. My primary focus will be PvP, but I am not averse to PvE. Assuming there is an overarching storyline throughout the game I would like to complete it.

Classes:

My preferred playstyle is to be a bruiser. I want to be able to initiate fights and soak up damage while still being able to dish some out. Is a guardian capable of this?

Quest/Level:

In terms of leveling, what is my best option? Is the personal story like a “campaign” series that guides my path to max level? Is there a main campaign questline that spans the game similar to Aion and Skyrim or is the questing structure more like WoW’s? Is WvW a viable leveling option? In previous games my focus has been maximizing my leveling time while still trying to enjoy it. Not a huge fan of aimlessly grinding or repeating quests more than a handful of times.

Having said that, is crafting/gathering something I should worry about? In previous games I would outlevel a zone before my gathering was ready to advance. Will I encounter a similar issue here?

Is WvW the only time my server matters?

Thank you for taking the time to read all of this and I appreciate any and all feedback!

Warrior fits your playstyle. Guardian is focused on synergy more than bruising, although they can be specced for the latter.

PVP situations have their own XP bars, but in pve you get lots of experience for dungeons, crafting, mining, exploration, etc. you dont have to repeat anything. I don’t think there are any quests that occur more than once that are not boss fights, events, and there are plenty of those, so your leveling experience should not be boring at all.

you wont encounter gathering issues. gathering is done on the fly with appropriate tools that you get from vendors, and you do not need to level gathering. Crafting is a little complicated, but there are easy guides on the internet to get you started/finished.

your serrverrrrrr matters almost insignificantly in pve. based on how well your server is laying the smackdown in wvw, you get very very tiny boosts to all stats in pve. it resets every (two? one?) week(s) and is frankly unnoticeable, so to be frank; yes.

welcome to GW2, and have fun.

I can’t care too much either way. Anet has a track record of getting backlash whenever it does anything it all, whether it be sticking to its principles or acquiescing for a large group of like-minded gamers/focus groups.

Do whatever. I know that said opinion doesnt hold any motivation regarding any which way, but I wanted to voice how I came to feel that way, since more than a few players are shaming Anet for appearing to feel similarly.

I want to say its okay for Anet to not go back on its game design just to please some gamers who can’t accept anything that is -not- a WoW clone, but that isnt my place. I dont have metrics.

You cant stop people from whining.

The first mistake any person or business can make is expecting to please 100% of its playerbase.

Nobody complaining about expansions wants to hear “Gw1 is not GW2, the devs wanted to do something different”, for instance.

Theres going to be a lot of people disappointed that the game doesnt fulfill their wildest dreams of what it should be. The only thing you can do is let them keep headbutting what they think is wrong, ‘cause they sure as hell wont stop if you tell them it’s anything but.

** Do Not play < Thief > in sPvP **

Azure The Heartless.3261

speaking of wvw point of view. thief are deady 1v1 and sometime 1v2. but take this on pvp where you should also contest, res, stomp, decap, cap etc and have timer above your head… it just waist of time. if no times was than everone would go pu condi mesmer best1v1 if you wanna fight 2 days accoumplish nothing

And you know what? Thieves should be deadly 1v1 / 1v2 in WVW.

In days and places of warfare, even in societies not under siege, people traveled in (and still do travel in) groups so robbers wouldnt kill them.

That practice was so common that it spurred the use of the term “Highway Robbery.” People that laid in wait for unguarded travelers were called “Highwaymen.” Traveling to a location alone is usually more dangerous for the traveler than the bandit, so why the hell is it backwards here?

If you’re travelling solo around that map, you’re asking to be mugged. and that is how it should be. Thieves should be -excellent- when they catch you alone, but melt when outnumbered. Right now they’re the inverse, and who cares about that. you can 2v1 with any class and do well.

Why are people Internalizing these “Bandits shouldnt be good 1v1” rants? Their role could easily be “pressure people into traveling in pairs/running lanes between points by punishing people that try to stretch lead by capping alone”; but since that seems to be toxic to the players, all we’re asking for is sustain so that the wiki (And, by extension, what apparently is the developmental intent of the class by the devs) wont be an outright lie.

‘Cause right now its a lie about as heavy as looking at a cat and swearing by your hat that it’s a panda bear.

why does your proposed suggestion of diminishing returns have to apply exclusively to warrior mobility skills?

Rangers, Elementalists and Thieves all can be equally mobile with Mesmer and Engi being able to reliably disengage. Guardians can disengage as well.

The implied reason is “Warriors need to be sandbags.”

Lots of Reveals.......

in PvP

Posted by: Azure The Heartless.3261

Azure The Heartless.3261

The problem is not that there is too much reveal, the problem is we have no decent general purpose solution to conquest and roaming that does not make heavy use of stealth. Stealth is our damage mitigation, our condi cleanse, and our burst at the same time. In that respect, it -can- be called a class mechanic, because our class depends on it for many aspects of general combat.

Giving other classes means to break all of that at once is a kitten shame, sure, but the bigger shame is that we don’t have a decent alternative.

Or, more simply put:

“Experts at stealth and surprise-

Thieves practice an agile, acrobatic fighting style, which can make them very hard to hit."

^ Is a lie.

I never understood why they rolled all the sustain and condition removal into the SA line. That just seems like such a dumb design decision.

Yes it is. And that’s why its so painful when we just see

“oh yeah this class can reveal now”

“oh yeah heres a reveal for you too”

“Oh sup, taunt makes thieves break their own stealth”

And the like, because anyone running SA knows that if they want to do meaningful damage, getting touched by any of those means a loss, because they are stripped of -all- defenses minus the stun break they may have saved. Nobody wants to run Acrobatics because it just isnt up to par with what SA provides, even with reveal as big a problem as it is.

I don’t see why people are insisting we just sit back and be happy with this because mobility. That just seems like an almost catatonic coercion to be content with being target practice. And it isnt like we’re forced to play thieves either. I can roll warrior or anything else at any point if I just wanted to win. Thieves are -fun- for most of the people complaining, which is why we bother.

Right now, it isnt fun.

Stealth in MMO's will always be overpowered

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Azure The Heartless.3261

Azure The Heartless.3261

As much as i enjoyed your narrow minded response based on theives (its ok, everyone here thinks this a thief thread). I’m going to jot a bit on a more contextual note.

Stealth- invisibility- whatever.

Lets think about what it means to be a skilled player. How do you want to be skilled? Do you want to be the type of player who has a quick wit, the twitchy nature to be able to block or counter the swing of a sword mid swing?

Or maybe you’re the type of person who looks at the bigger picture- an overwatch. You’re strategy makes up for your lack of twitch skills because you know exactly what the enemy is thinking. In fact- you’ve already set traps and know precisely what your enemy is about to do.

Lets dive a bit deeper, stay with me…

PVP combat, in its most basic skillfull form, can be found a fantastic and long lived title known as Mount&Blade Warband. In Mount and Blade you control the swing of your sword by its direction (up, down, left right) and the direction to parry (up, down, left, right)..

TingTing- thats the noise you hear when two skillfull players begin fighting. Parry after parry.. But wait, this can’t go on forever can it? Don’t worry, there’s also a mechanic to feign a swing, basically swing halfway then stop to fool the enemy. This, combined with tricky body movements, ends with a victor usually within about 40 seconds at the highest skill level. (most player’s are dead within 10 seconds, as they have not practiced their ability to parry)

This is how i see the basis of all combat in every game. Someone swings, other’s respond, and its a good old back and forth fight until the winner comes out on top.

But what happens when you can’t see the other person swinging? What if you don’t know he’s there at all? How can you possibly even begin to plan around something you don’t even know exists? Seeing is half the battle- is it not? What if the entire sword swinging mechanism was entirely invisible.. Every move, every play, gone from sight.

Welcome to stealth/invisibility in MMO’s

I could go on and on. I hope you get the point by now- and stop talking about thieves.

Your stance is noted, and your adorable assertion that my response was narrow minded because I mentioned only one class that uses it as a mechanic is also noted. I really wish the first action taken against people that present an alternative viewpoint in good nature was not a flat insult, it really cheapens the quality of the argument.

I don’t agree that mount and blade is “basic skillful pvp” judging from what I’ve seen in terms of gameplay, so it appears that we have different viewpoints on what constitutes skill.

That being said, even if seeing was half of the battle, the other half would depend on either strategy or reflex would it not? Invisibility turns what is considered conventional combat on its head, yes; but for GW2 that’s a good thing.

Interestingly, the “response” option you think is missing in response to someone who is stealthed performing “swinging” is still there. It just requires a bit of pre-combat planning to the tune of “how will I deal with x invisible class if they drop in on me?”

Not all combat needs to be cemented in good old “I attack, you block.” Responding to an emergency enemy appearance/mugging has been handled really well with the stealth mechanic, IMO.

Grind is still grind

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Azure The Heartless.3261

Azure The Heartless.3261

I read very little of the larger debates in this thread, but it seems like several people are confusing the burned out, frustrated sensations they experience when working really hard for gold, cosmetics, or whatever else they want in the game by repeating dungeons, farming locations, or other events ad nauseam with the symptoms of grind.

They’re absolutely right, in the simplest sense. They are grinding, the frustration they possess does come from a grind. Grind -does- exist in GW2. However, it was not placed there by the developers. The grind the aforementioned players are experiencing is brought upon largely by themselves and general unwillingness to slow down and enjoy the game for what it is in order to achieve faster rewards.

Tired of farming X map? Go do something else. virtually everything in this game throws money at you, from harvesting onions to going deep-sea fishing for certain drops in Southsun. When you’re tired of it, go someplace else. Do an event. Party with someone. Mix it up.

Tired of completing the entire world for that gift? Take it easy. Listen to the npc dialogue. Go someplace you’ve been before and stop pressing for completion when it’s no longer fun. Go play on the underwater organ or something. Your legendary isnt a limited edition drop (And the limited edition things, for that matter, are -easy- to get)., you’ll get it when you get it. Dont blaze through the content for content.

I don’t think its fair to the developers to place the general unhappiness of the grinding community on them. It isn’t largely grind by design, it’s grind by method and the desire for what is as close to instant gratification as possible. Yes, precursors being rng is a travesty, but it’s being worked on.

Play the game. Play the market. Go see what people are doing. If you feel like the game is work, you’re doing it wrong. After all, what are you gonna do once you get twilight? swing it around for a month then quit?

Adding more avenues for grind wont fix it. Farming faster wont fix it. Fixing the matter of grind and general reward pacing requires a little wit and willingness to explore the nooks and crannies of the map for the drops that people -want- on the tp, but are not being provided. Everyone’s at the train, everyone’s at the world bosses; getting the same loot and trying to sell it even though the saturation is making that process hardly lucrative for the time and monotony involved.

I might even dare to say that people feeling that there -is- a grind actually do need to L2P. In the greatest sense of the phrase.

It is at odds with the way the game was meant to be designed – using dodge to show your skill and avoid damage.

Also this mighty class had all elite skills so epic, so strong, so monumental that they had to nerf the one which was 99% warriors using so that it reaches epicness of the other elite skills? Ok then i guess i have no more questions then.

Explain - zerker and active defenses?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Azure The Heartless.3261

Azure The Heartless.3261

Hi All,

I have seen all these groups asking for zerker – and many threads saying l2p active defenses in both pvp and pve (esp dungeons)
From what I can ascertain zerker is a armor stat is there a corresponding trait stat or is it all 6/6/x – full power / precision traits?
Active defenses are like Stealth, reflects and stuff so you don’t take damaged e.g. Stabilitys / condition clears?

Is there anything I’m missing here – or is the game really that easy that heals are not required?
IS it really just a case of learning the skill animations, sounds and what each boss does in pve and use an active defense?
PvP seems a bit harder to active defense – as the players are more random (human) but I presume the same logic there also applies?

Enlighten me a little please..
Tell me more how this dark art works that I can do dmg and take no dmg from stuff.

This is exactly right.

The dark art is pretty simple, actually.

The more informed you are as to what attacks, casts or AOEs cause damage to you, the less armor you need. Armors that provide toughness and vitality do so with a direct reduction to your potential damage output, but if you know what is going to hit you and have an answer to either reducing or outright avoiding that damage that isnt “lol face tank it”, then you can devote that buffer you would need to keep yourself alive to increasing the damage you do.

Stealths, blocks, utilities and dodges are “Active defense”- that is, defense that mitigates or negates damage, but needs to be initiated by the user, rather than “passive defense” which is built into the armor at a cost to damage output. Every class has lots of “Active” defense, and generally the more familiar you are with your opponents (be them AI or Human), the more you can rely on well timed evades or mitigation that your class provides as part of its skillset.

Heals are by and large not required to be specced for, given your entire group (if you are not soloing) knows what they are doing.

It is absolutely just a case of learning animations, tells, and general rotations of skills used by AI and humans. In essence the game boils down to

*Can you learn to not stand in a circle?

*If a warrior has hit you with a shield, is carrying an axe, and muttered something about being “all wound up” or “ready to hit”, can you move?

*Can you protect your back if a thief has stealthed near you?

*Can you run from a lich?

*Can you not stand under the drop crate?

If you can do the above ^ reasonably well, you can devote the armor you’d use as a buffer for mistakes or unforeseen occurrences to finishing the fight faster or generally being more dangerous to your opponent. Even high damage is a good defense in pvp; because it forces your opponent to go on the defensive, be that using their utilities or what have you.

It really isnt too complex. if you know “lol this is gonna kill me” and one of your options at that time is “don’t get hit”, why carry toughness? Running all zerkers is not a required meta or a “play this way or you get a stigma attached to you” its just a benefit of high level, high skill play. Lots of people have gotten to that point where they just dont -need- toughness, which is why zerker is a meta now. Unless you’re one of those people that gets a kick out of beating bosses by poking them with a toothpick.

Then.. yknow… be my guest, run nomads or something.

Lets talk about the new Gem conversion [Merged]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Azure The Heartless.3261

Azure The Heartless.3261

You may be surprised to know this (I know I was) but very few people bought gems at smaller denominations than the first one offered in the new system. That’s not to say they never did, nor that there wouldn’t be the desire to do so. But overall, the current options were selected based on player purchases in the past.

If this is the case, why has the choice been taken out completely? You said it yourself, people did buy smaller increments of gems. People also bought larger numbers. I don’t understand why the choice was made to completely remove the option so we could buy as much or as little as you like.

This. instead of centering the game around what metrics deem the majority, you should make allowances for outlying cases if they exist at all, no matter how improbable they might seem.

The choice to omit 50, 100, or even 200g options from the conversion rate seems more willful than mandatory. I mean, you even have the space to add those rates on the ui. you could have just done it for the sake of balance.

but instead, there is a buy more gems button on the conversion table for people looking to trade gold for gems where a 50, 100, or 200 option could have gone.

I cant buy this, sorry.
