Like how every battle is a dps-race zerg-fest.
Or how you’re usually required to have zerker gear to join dungeons.
Or how the only wanted classes are Guardians, Warriors and Elementalists?
For example, this video is over a year old and the problems are still relevant today.
UI improvements are nice, but should be secondary objectives when the main gameplay is this off track from what their original vision was.
None of the points you made are true. Produce proof that:

Ley Line weapons were pretty and unique. These are blindingly white and bland, especially since they can’t be dyed.
Nostalgia shots fired.
Again, he isnt talking about mere mobility. He’s talking about ridiculous gtfo-mobility coupled with apparently heavy condi mitigation.
While the changes to adrenaline definitely affect the value of Cleansing Ire (for condi removal), warriors on the run aren’t really in a position to use it since (1) you need to hit a target to get the cleanse, unless you’re using longbow, (2) if you’re losing longbow, you’re not hard to catch, and (3) if you hit a target when trying to escape you only prolong the slow down for being in combat.
There were no adrenaline benefits for warriors escaping combat, except the very small leap some would get using hammer or axe, which aren’t running weapons. The changes to adrenaline make it less likely you’ll make any burst, whether in combat or out (and bursts aren’t useful for running).
Not ire.
Melandru.
Lemon soup.
shake it off.
Dolyak, balanced stance
yknow. the auto things that you can just press to be immune to crowd control.
Although I probably brought the wrong idea to you by saying condi mitigation.
Let me rephrase. Mobility isn’t the issue.
mobility while ignoring fear, knockback, knockdown, immob, cripple, chill, or daze is, to the OP. Condi Clear addresses most of the things that last more than a second (fear, daze) and stances / shake it off address knockdown, so I have a bad habit of lumping them together.
To me, it isn’t an issue, let me note that. If you want to spec to ignore every last condition or crowd control applied to you for the sole purpose of running, go nuts. This appears to be a pebble in OP’s shoe though, because warriors pick fights with him, see they can’t win, and then retreat immediately, but he can’t catch them because his snags wont work on them, and he only has a couple of seconds to do so before they put 3000 distance between themselves and him.
Understandably infuriating. Can’t do anything about it without hurting the warriors that don’t do that, though.
I’d think of it like a shark attack and let it go. If you live, you win. you just don’t..yknow, get its head to mount on a wall or anything.

What?
But in all seriousness, not at the moment, no. That mechanic is there to force players to use evasion/active defense.
legendary survivor
you cannot jump
What dreadful business.
Do you guys think that there’s a middle ground between ultra hard and easy?
For example, I think we could clean up some of the issues with the Shatterer and just make it a more engaging experience. So rather than spending the entire fight hiding under his right paw he could, say, turn his head and attack that area? :] It doesn’t have to be hard, just a little more involved.
We tried to put in a few changes here and there when we added the new world boss timers. Reactions varied.
I think just changing the mechanics of how he works would make the fight a lot more fun.
One idea would be to make it so that he is immune at each 25% mark and he summons the crystals and you have to destroy them for him to take damage again. Having a small amount of health regain for him while they are up would make people have to move. The difficulty of it would all come down to the position of the crystals and how long it takes to kill depending on the scaling if it.
Some will probably still just sit at the side and let others do it but I for one like these kind of mechanics in battles.
Anything upwards of “stand here, press 1” is a bonus.
Iirc, spider queen is now more engaging as a mini boss because stacking doesn’t trivialize the fight, only makes it harder.
In a combat-centered game, pigeonholing your whole party into one position should not be the wisest strategy.
After we get the colored tags someone needs to organize and create commander tag pixel art on the map
Perhaps an 8-bit frog or something >.>
I’m sooooo there
lol
We would need 134 people with tags >.>
Can we do this?
Others have already explained how to catch them, and you should know the warrior that’s gone Nascar has sacrificed other things to do it… like any build/class in the game.
And none of those who claim things like “just cripple or CC them” can explain how you’re supposed to do that to a warrior with stability who is immune to conditions.
Yes, cowardly warriors sacrifice a lot of damage in order to run away unconditionally. No one is claiming that they’re overpowered, that’s not what this post is about.
What should we do if outnumbered? I’d like to hear your thoughts as to how being able to flee that far, that fast would be anything short of necessary for wars that were not specced for bunker when confronted with odd numbers?
I’ve started using GS in pvp, and I am all too happy to #5 right the kitten off of a point if a zerg/group comes to pick up my opponent. Much of the time, I still get expertly snagged and melt before I can even get away, even specced for condi clear.
While I am disappointed in your unsatisfying opponent, I should not have to have my escape culled just because of roaming warriors that have eyes bigger than their stomach, if you get what I mean.
berserker gear + every other set without defensive stats are the only gear sets that make full use of the active parts of the combat system. so how is this a bad thing?
You have answered your question by asking it. It is a bad thing, because they are the only gear sets that make full use of the active parts of the combat system.
Out of curiosity, how many people complaining about Zerker gear bought themselves a set, tried it out for a few months, and decided it wasn’t for them?
Most of my chars have switched to zerker by now. The advantage of doing so was just too great to do otherwise. I don’t consider this a good thing.
I bought zerker gear. Tried it out. It was fun, but I ended up not liking it because in the event that I had people downed on specific bosses, I’d be deadlocked. Melt if I tried to help them, melt if I let them die.
I dropped zerker armor for knight/soldier, kept the weapons, and added a knight/soldier/zerker mix to my accessories. put points into defense for armored attack, and slotted bloodlust to recoup a portion of the power.
I still get to play like I used to, but now if someone downs I can grit my teeth and rev them to get them back up without melting, even under direct fire.
I get a lot of “<3”’s when driving a train for that.
I find playing the buffer between full wipes and wins more engaging, since I’m keeping track of downed while I fight.
Just something extra to do.
Yknow what?
To all of those aggravated about the zerker meta, how should it be fixed?
Remove the gear prefix?
Make every armor do the same kind of damage?
Because if you do the former we will move to another prefix, and if you do the latter dungeons will start excluding classes.
I am curious as to how these people that cant be bothered to pick up 6 pieces of armor (so they can do a specific type of dungeon) want to fix the game to make it balanced. Please enlighten me.
Shield warrior is OP, how many other infinite blocks for 3 seconds on 20ish seconds cooldown are out there?
Since you asked:
Shield Stance is a 3 second block on a 30 second cooldown.
Gear Shield is a 3 second block on a 20 second cooldown.
Counterattack is a 3 second* block on a 15 second cooldown.
Riposte is a 2 second* block on a 15 second cooldown.*Works if you are not within melee range of an enemy.
While Counterattack and Riposte do not work exactly like Shield Stance does, it will accomplish the same thing in many scenarios, with the benefit of having a much shorter cooldown. This is one reason why it is worth considering using sword off-hand instead of shield.
Thanks for prooving my poing… only a few skills compare to shield warrior and not all of them are infinite block.. riposte and couter attack its only 1, sucks as a block skill so it only leaves engie shield comparable with warrior. (guardian focus and elem arcane shield are on a 3 block counter which also sucks).
I don’t think your point was proven. Riposte is a multiblock. In fact, it’s impossible for it NOT to be a multiblock when fighting a giant, because of the standard skill lineups that all giants seem to share…
Your argument stops when you are surrounded by melee.
First, not really if you can intelligently kite …
you missed the point right there… better keep the original post in mind instead derailing just to keep the argument alive.
“Second, are we not talking about soloing a giant with nothing else around? Because I’m pretty sure that’s what we’re talking about in this thread.
Which if these giant attacks spawns adds, much less adds that melee? Throw Boulder? Stomp? Stamp (Double Stomp + Punch)? Roar (Weakness + Fear)? None of the above?"
Thanks for taking a snippet of my post out of context, and then trying to pretend like I’m not paying attention to the context of this thread, when I’m actually pointing out how invalid one of your statements about riposte not being a multiblock due to melee attackers is from within the context of this thread (and also outside the context of this thread, too).
There seems to be no point in any further discussion here.
I thought we were talking about “Soloing a giant with sword /shield is never ever a good idea, even for Advertisements; and if you advocate sword/shield fighting a giant on an advertisement for GW2, you are borderline lying about your game, because better options exist.”

i am the type of person that sees “this class only” and take it to mean “join and relist this party with insultive comment about them being elitest kittens”
i would be the type to join on other classes and swtich after changing the party setting
i dont care if elitists block me or harras me there the ones ruining the game for others by not learning how to play correctly and wanting an easy ride
i also change people selling lfgs too cause that kitten is low and should be banned
Ew.
Stop taking it upon yourself to ruin people’s concept of a good play session just because you feel they shouldn’t be asking for specific things in their dungeon.
You’re just making the problem fester for no reason.
Just an aside, I’m finding it funny how on one side of the “lets nerf warriors” bandwagon, players want to nerf Greatsword mobility because it is “unrealistic” for heavily geared player characters, but on the other hand being smacked in the stomach by an iron hammer and getting (not a full, mind you) weakness uptime, while realistic, is also an issue.
I dont even care about protecting warrior from nerfing anymore. I have no opinion on this apart from the above; let Anet do what they please.

Adding a new race adds a minimal amount of eye candy for the players that would need a disproportionate amount of labor on the part of the devs, and money on the part of the company, to make neat and tidy.
Most MMOs that add a new race to their games have a base model that can be tweaked with minimal developmental effort. GW2’s character models are so varied, though, that anything short of a completely new model (or one that hasnt been player accessible), would be unacceptable to the players, so this ease of implementation doesn’t really apply in this respect.
It’s too much, for too little.
I am a guardian main, and therefore vote that. It is fast paced for sure, and if you have an ascended set for your warrior/rev it would be compatible. I’m at work, so I may take a min to respond, but feel free to ask me anything about the class and I’ll try to answer. I’ve done pve pvp and a little WvW, but I haven’t raided
Another heavy might be nice. I’m learning towards this and mes.
I don’t think I’ll play ranger or engie atm.
A single tear was brought to my eye as one more player realizes the struggle.
Its easier to call for general nerfs instead of changing the build they love to adapt to the current battle.
Good suggestions above, also wanted to focus on this.
It’s true. AOEs melt turret engies, but people aren’t willing to just make a build change, largely, to counter them.
Hell, even ricochet on a silly pistol/pistol build harasses engineers.
True that you cant have it both ways. And I do agree that there should be a point where players stop calling for nerfs and start actually getting good.
Don’t think that should be solved with a stationary build though. Let’s leave that lesson for revenant, and get the turret engies on their feet.
So punish a group of people playing the game because they’re not adhering to how you think the game should be played?
No thanks. How about let them hang out in bloodtide and you do your thing.
You cant balance thief.
It’s either competent at something at which point it is op because dirty thief class, or not competent at anything, which is fine because only scrubs play thief.

I would think that being able to get larger rewards for failing an event that people need to complete in order to do the most important aspect of content Arenanet is currently focusing on would be seen as a design flaw to people with a shred of common sense, and that in order to ‘protect’ that farming location people would take modest precautions by not attempting to report people actually trying to do the content in droves.
Imagine a support rep getting:
“Hey Anet, we’re getting a whole lot of bonuses for letting this frequently respawning event fail (which requires little effort on our end), but this one guy keeps trying to succeed even though it’s tied to the living story you guys are focusing so much on. Can you ban him for trying to complete his content please? He’s obviously griefing even though he is playing the event as intended; because the majority believes he is wrong to do so/he feels compelled to stop us.”
Yes, people are going to try to ruin your day. That being said, the reasonable course of action would be to not go crying to Anet about people playing the game the way Anet intended them to play it, especially with what happened to blix.
Be mad, but not stupid.

I have 3k armor . Is this a balanced game in yor opinion?^
Better question.
Would you say not dying if you have 3k armor is balance?EDIT : sure you got hit for 10k, but we dont know anything about buffs, debuffs, or any other external factors.
And by an attack as easily dodged as Kill Shot, no less.
Dear Azure please read this and hopefully some dev will too.
You guys have no idea how many people didn’ t buy hot and how many people have actually quitted the game after buying hot for this unbalance game status.
Myself i can count at least 10 of my friends.
Immagine what will happen when games like black desert online and blade and soul are out.
What truly confuses me is that Azure I gave you evidence of a 10k shot saying that i have 3k armor, ( everyone knows that that skill is overpowered ) and you even attack me denying what i m saying?^ XDI truly hope that devs don t share your same way of analyzing problems Azure.
I have no words.

I’m saddened that it’s gotten to the point that the players who are acting as the lifeblood for this push for Guild Wars’ ascension to e-sports have to literally quit in tournament games to make a point.
I don’t really know what to say anymore.
Maybe this is drama. Maybe this is expected behavior for attempting to run a tournament without first balancing classes.
Whatever.
I think a fractal armor set (maybe having similar looks as its weapons) would be a good idea.
I also agree that wvw needs a couple more ‘exclusive’ sets as well. Something to work towards, to make badges worthwhile, etc.
I don’t disagree with the OP though, pve would need its own ‘exclusive’ set as well. That could come in the form of legendary armor, the return of FoW armor, harder world bosses getting a full set of droppable armor (like wurm slayer, but being a complete set, which anet could still do), etc.
Then each mode, or major game play component, would offer something “worth chasing.” (Theoretically) Just as we once desired to chase FoW armor, or Vabbian armor, etc.
This is a very reasonable position for this forum.
I don’t understand why people feel the need to turn this into another “us vs them” war, I play all modes (badly) and I don’t begrudge sPVP getting an exclusive set of armour but the “exclusive” PVE armour sets were the dungeon sets which were always accessible through sPVP. So them adding sPVP armour is a good first step but I think they really should add additional “prestige” sets for WvW, PVE and fractals. Which they may be planning on doing in the next few feature packs. (I’m still kinda hoping we’ll see a WvW exclusive set this feature pack though).
The difference is that the so-called exclusive dungeon skins were within anyone’s reach. Especially in the early days of the game, you could get a full dungeon set in a couple of days. Now, you need a week to do so.
The new exclusive pvp armor is accessible only to a handfull of players that get invited to a special tournament. And nobody is denying them their special reward. We are asking for something special for the people that play PVE.
It is incredibly difficult for me to see the new Amberite weapons, Mawdrey, in addition to the large lineup of Legendary / Tequatl / Wupwup weapons and then see requests for something special for people that play PVE.
To be frank.
You wrote so much about something you haven’t even played.
At least wait for the mode to be released before you tell Anet it’s wrong.
Two things.
The game was always b2p. 40 bucks to even get in.
Most people on the forums are here because they are unhappy about something pertaining to the game, so the majority of opinions you see will be negative.
There are many thousands more players that have just started, have been here for 2+ years, and everything in between that are happily zerging along/enjoying the game with their friends/dueling. Don’t gauge the health of the game by what we say here; we’re generally irritated. All the people with positive reviews are currently enjoying the content (with a small outlier perusing the forums at work).
Pretty sure Anet has learned how to sift through our general angst for honest critique by now, too.
If I had to start over? Yes and no. I like the game, but I’m going to be pretty miffed (and probably quit) if all of the equipment and etc. I worked for were suddenly removed. I’m not diehard, but I’m content with what they’re providing so far. It’s leagues above many other mmos that launch decades old engines with glossy graphics paint and market their games as new and innovative when they’re not.
Anet has my attention because they think outside the box and challenge what MMO perceived conventions are. And if I wanna drop off for a month and go play Warframe? No sub fee. Come back whenever. Dont even worry about getting left behind. Most youll miss is a really pretty/nice sounding trinket that you could have gotten if you were paying attention to Dulfy.
(edited by Azure The Heartless.3261)
Huh. how about that.
And here I thought “entertaining cows” was the silliest thin- ahem.
I guess the NPE is kind of an adapter for people who come from different mmo playstyles and non-mmo backgrounds to get acclimated to the game without being choked on gallons of lore and new and what-is-this.
Glad it helped you guys. some of us who had gone through it already were pretty ticked off to find portions of it removed, but if it works; it works.
I’d rather new blood than old lore.
Too expensive = problem
Cheaper = problem
Thanks for the price tweak, Anet. I’ll be sure to pick one up sometime.
I’d like to point out that first, we both agree that dedicated roles do not exist.
However, the features of these roles do still exist, they are just internalized. You can’t just walk up to a class here and say “oh, this is a Warrior/Guardian/Ele. They automatically must be decent at (performing a certain facet of the trinity at a certain level) or they’re a bad player.”
That does not mean that the concepts have died or been removed.
These concepts exist in GW2, but with slightly altered meanings.
You thinking in a right direction but you no there yet
Yes roles do exist. And yes each party member is a Tank/Healer/DPS for himself.
Each profession can dodge (avoid damage completely), some professions have other ways of preventing boss from dealing damage (blinds, reflects, aegis).
All these factors lead to the following conclusion:
You do not need defensive stats on your gear, you should use offensive stats only to minimize TTK (time to kill) and you should use your active defenses yo avoid damage. In other words: get good and learn to dodge.
This requires everyone:
>is experienced with the dungeon and knows how to dodge
>is not out of dodges when they need one.
You’re only focusing on the smallest portion of the game, where players are running for speed clears on a dungeon they’ve already done, and do not care about anything else (or simply aren’t bad at noticing visual cues/ never mistime a roll)
The game is much larger than that. Sure, Zerker gear works on Speedclear groups. Not everyone speedclears though.
Sure, it’s really easy to boil PVE down into “burn down the boss, if you die l2p”, but that is just a specific result of “play how you want”. Just because you can tailor off what you deem unnecessary and place the burden of downing on the people that are silly/unfortunate enough to -get- downed, does not mean you should in all cases.
that’s how people get bored, bro~
(edited by Azure The Heartless.3261)
They’d also never kill you, especially in the case of guardian.
So warriors now completely suck in all game modes. This despite being highly desirable in WvW zergs and capable of soloing dungeons. The last post is clearest really: if you want an OP FotM class, warrior is not the bandwagon you are looking for. Otherwise you’ll be fine and very effective.
I already stated that warriors are wanted for stacking the hell out of swiftness in WvW zergs especially, and since when does “being capable of soloing dungeons” actually matter? Literally all classes are capable of soloing most dungeons— even the necros. Sometimes there are certain bosses/encounters that certain classes particularly excel at (example, situations that call for reflects = guard/mes), but overall it’s pretty much always been this way.
Warrior is incredibly fluid and much easier to learn/survive with in most circumstances which is why most people tend to call it OP when the reality is that they’ve always had low-end DPS in groups, yet fairly nice solo DPS.
The difference nowadays versus previously is that not only is it low-end but it’s even further behind the other classes than before in groups and instead of having fairly decent solo DPS, it has noticeably bad solo DPS by comparison to before.
Hey, at least they’re easy to kill now, right?
Now, if we could only stop them from running away from a fight and cut their regen in half….
[/sarcasm]
Most are missing the point.
WE WERE WINNING WHOLE MATCH by 60 plus points
I was staying home because 2 thieves on their team kept trying for it.
The guy fighting/losing near spawn, who was on MY team decided to rage, and talk trash.
After match he decides to whisper me saying how all 4 of other team mates were in ts talking kitten about me.I was unable to respond do to him blocking me before he /w trash talk.
This was all for no reason….
We won..he was on my team….I played the map.
You did your job. People will trash talk you for any stupid thing.
Ignore it.
You need to buy something to remain relevant. That is literally the definition of P2W.
Not quite.
Relevancy and Competency are two different things.
I have seen competent thieves beat daredevils, competent warriors beat berserkers, and a few other denominations.
The traitline itself is not a standard for competition, it is an alternative way to play an already grounded class.
I’m sure someone would make the argument that DD saved thief from uselessness, but DA/Trickery/SA or DA/Trickery/Acro(CS) are still viable traitline lineups, especially with Acro now being fixed.
…I’ve got nothing on reaper. There’s solid battle ground there. Whether or not that is example of p2w or example of nerf needed idk.
There’s a difference between hoarders (who effectively hold on to items for personal use/gratification) and merchants (who make decisions using the market to profit.)
And neither of these types of people make the community toxic.
The people that make the community toxic are the people that feel they are entitled to dictate the prices in a free market, when all they are entitled to is the freedom to not use it if they so choose.
OP is attempting to criminalize/shame people clever enough/lucky enough to stockpile an item that he now has personal want of, because they are selling them at a price he is not willing to pay.

They are dodgable for the most part.
Learn the telegraphs and prosper.
Yeah, I’m gonna have to call you on this too, cause it’s a lie.
Not only are they untelegraphed, but you cannot dodge them in the case of Lock on and Sic’em.
They are quite literally “press button, nerf thief.”
(edited by Azure The Heartless.3261)
It’s obvious to see that, although some people may consider them to be ugly, more thought went into the [Ley Line] set than the Chaos set.
The Chaos Set is just a nostalgia throwback for people who missed their axes from GW1.
ITT: “This game will never be e-sports” when Anet has never mentioned that was its goal in the first place
You cant take a game seriously where cats wear pompadours.
Someone being positive when talking about Gw2?
Can we start reporting commanders for AFK’ing at events until some people clear the pre. I mean.. isn’t that what the whole commander tag is for? for taking charge?
I mean, I know people consider it a vanity item, but if you let people continue using it as such there will never be a good purpose. some events like the centaurs and the shatterer have 3-6 commanders waiting at the base while you have to be lucky if someone does the pre. In most cases they are done normally, but only after a few people go and check up why the pre isn’t finishing
Why not just tag up and go do the pre?
that’s the kicker. According to the players, it was broken.
And that is the part that is beyond my comprehension.
I cannot believe there are people that call themselves gamers that cannot handle 5 skills at a time.
But then again…
You should spell the title correctly.
you are left powerless to counter this situation. you can’t even interrupted the teammate who is trying to revive the down foe.
I love how you know where to find the wiki page but failed to read it.
“Characters in stealth cannot be targeted by enemies, but can still be hit by attacks and take damage without breaking stealth.”
Every class in this game has an attack that can hit people without targets or an AOE that does reasonably high damage, sometimes both.
If you know he’s reviving his teammate, stand next to the person that is down and use an attack that Cleaves.
I suggest you actually read the wiki pages to learn about things you can do to actually fight against stealth before requesting that it be nerfed to suit your perceptions.
And, while I’m not someone that knows a lot about invulnerablity, the only classes that have access to true invulnerability have it for three-four seconds at most.
Again, with your magical guide the Wiki, you can find a way to make revving take longer than four seconds via Poison.
From stealthed person perspective: it seems like a huge nerf, but from the other side, if you are a bit skillful you can reapply stealth when your enemy starts blocking and let them waste their block.
Good players do that now.
Also, this would make DPS Guards even more of a curb stomp matchup against thieves because of Aegis.
So… OP is complaining that he’s winning fights, but just not getting the kill?
If warriors get mobility nerfs, then they should get DPS or damage mitigation buffs to compensate for the inability to escape from a fight. Then we can have other complain about how warriors are OP and start the cycle all over again.
Not exactly. Rather, I’m complaining that there’s a playstyle that isn’t fun for anyone that is quickly coming to dominate roaming in WvW. It probably isn’t even fun for these warriors, because they just keep losing fights and running away. No one is saying that warriors should be “unable to escape from a fight”, just that they shouldn’t have weapon skills that allow them to escape any enemy under any circumstances.
being targetable 100% while running away hardly lends itself to escape “under any circumstances.”
With thieves being able to reset Warrior adrenaline at will now, we are going to need those dashes I LOVE BEING UNDERDOG.
I was interested until I saw she was running malice signet.
