Idk, getting ascended rings are easy from 1-20 fractals and you can get an ascended necklace for like 30g (Vial of Salt). If you want, you can buy the gold to get one of the MF Ascended backpacks and get ascended trinkets from logging on a couple hours when your guild is doing guild missions. Thats like 30 AR right there without any armor.
You can attune the rings without needed any condensed essence and slap a couple 9-11 agony infusions in them for cheap.
And then theres the AR potion from the vendor and mistlock singularities thats practically enough to do up to level 50 fractals. Theres also always the chance to get infused rings from the level 21-50 dailies, in that case you dont need any essence at all.
Maybe so, I find everything to do with AR Utterly confusing, but it all seems to loop on itself thus Dev22. You are correct I find, that you can craft without the vial essense, but you need 1,600,000 xp won in fractals, again Dev22; cant get it if you don’t have it. Hey but whats could be more fun than Locking the Key to the Treasure behind the Vault door. then watch the players beat their collective heads against said door!
Dear Devs, we the players, we pay your check, we are not the Enemy Really.
If you’re talking about the fractal masteries, you’re utterly wrong about how to get them. It’s ANY EXPERIENCE GAINED IN CORE TYRIA. Not experienced gained ONLY from fractals. As for AR, read the wiki. It’s fairly self-explanatory. Frankly, start where every single other person started, low tier fractals, you know, the ones that dont NEED AR.
As for whoever mentioned the Anguished Tear of Alba as giving you +10 AR, it does not. If you HAVE 10 or more AR, it does absolutely nothing. It adjusts your AR from 0-9 TO 10.
Every ‘naysayer’ to the this post is entirely missing my point, and it’s frustrating.
One really lame thing about MMOs to date is that the ‘mobs’, are sparsely sprinkled around the maps, they are just waiting for you to go and kill them. They’re just idly standing there, looking dumb, that’s it. They don’t serve any other purpose. One person suggested here that if I wanted a challenge I could take my gear off and go hunting these ‘dumb’ mobs. This is precisely not what I want to do.
I am proposing that at least in some areas of the game, there be mobs that _serve the purpose of making your access to a location challenging. Bridge guards would be one example.
Currently, players can just run right past every single mob everywhere, anywhere in Tyria. Lame, boring.
There’s other games out there with exactly what you want. Go play them.
Ever wondered where all the NPCs in this game who buy your junk items get the money from?
I wonder what they do with all the junk.
Someone somewhere must be building some kind of gigantic war machine out of broken lockpicks, cogs and spikes.
How do you think the steamcreatures came into being?
Well there is auto loot, not doing enough dps, but the dr is not a thing. Chances are you can’t loot the the chest because you already did it previously in the same period, or auto looted.
DR can/does affect event loot like that.
The game works perfectly well and nothing is “wasted” (as the poster above says, once you’ve done progressing in levels & masteries, you don’t need ‘experience’ points).
While they’re not needed, that doesn’t mean they’re not wasted. You perform an action, you get xp for it and… the xp disappears. In another post you offered a reason why luck couldn’t be auto-consumed. This is a case of xp being auto-consumed into a black hole. In a game about progression that seems a strange omission.
Think of it this way, if the mobs didnt generate experience for you, you’d not get loot drops off them either.
I don’t understand your reasoning there. Could the game not give loot without giving experience?
For the most part, mobs that do not give experience on kill, does not give a chance at loot.
The main problem with underwater combat is that it would require a vastly different positional system. For those that dont know what I mean, compare how you move around on land to how you move around on flight-type games (like Ace Combat for example). GW2 you have full movement in 2 axis while extremely limited in the 3rd. Meanwhile, other games in the category I mentioned have complete movement in all three. GW2’s movement for characters is horizontal, not relative to your viewpoint, while character orientation is mainly vertical (just as hobotron insists on). Other games have your movement, as well as orientation, relative to your viewpoint.
On average each cracked fractal box is with .60-70s- if you buy the key/box it’s not worth it as most of the items inside are now worthless.
This is why fotm gives you a limited amount of gold for your 1 HR- if you do all the swamps/Daliys it’s about 10g for your HR.
Not really. You either break even or make a substantial profit from the encryptions. If you’re a fractal runner, you drop enough encryptions in a day that you can buy the 30 keys a day, with no net loss in gold. You only have a net loss if you buy the encryptions and only get the basic trophies.
The game works perfectly well and nothing is “wasted” (as the poster above says, once you’ve done progressing in levels & masteries, you don’t need ‘experience’ points).

We are aware how much the shiney baubels are worth – and it has been noted already in the thread.
It takes many events to get these – and the amount of liquid gold/hr is still very low compared to other sources.
Trophies are also sold as junk as well FYI. Many of said trophies are also worth a considerable amount. Additionally, Fractal runners can accumulate a decent amount of them.

Short of making a “mastery” that gives a tangible reward and recycles over and over, I doubt the current system would allow anything such as this, as post-80 it’s no longer a leveling system.
. Also, to get this out of the way, not specifically at OP unless they bring up this point, there are no such things as lucky and/or unlucky accounts.
Yes there is—outlier accounts!!!!!
Outliers =/= un/lucky accounts.
But it’s just a statue. And it’s bonus loot. OP you didn’t “miss out on ascended” because you got that.
Do we have confirmation on this? It would be great to know for sure that when I get a statue piece, I’m not missing out on, say, a spoon or an exotic accessory.
You arent. You can take off the tinfoil now.
Heart of Thorns is a rip for some of us. I paid $60 for the game back when it was buy-to-play, now new players can come in w/o paying, buy Heart of Thorns, and get stuff I can’t even though I’ve already paid. Why on earth would ArenaNet do that to people who’ve already bought the game? Shouldn’t we get HoT (at least the $50 version)? I feel like I’ve been cheated. Again.
You want the expansion? You buy the expansion.
Honestly, I’d get it. The quicker you can manage to get through the story of HoT, the more ready you’ll be when LS3 is released.
Mind mentioning the rarity of each bag? If DT’s is rare, while SW’s is only masterwork, there you go.
Not unless there are significantly more enticements and much better content. The HoT expansion was really bad value. Still feels like two zones and two unfinished zones to me.
That’s because you, and probably the vast majority of posts after yours that I didnt bother reading, forget that HoT includes two different types of content:
- The HoT content itself
- Every LS3-LSWhatever release between HoT and the next expansion
No expac? No LS3+. HoT only shipped with the initial content, as well as all the game changes it brought, everything else is coming.
Finally, every time someone forgets this, Jormag eats a kitten. If you willingly “forget” this when posting, Jormag eats 10 kittens.
It could cost you <2-3g (the cost of 4 rares) or 2000-3000g (if you’re seriously screwed by rngesus and dont keep track of what you spent) depending on how your RNG goes. Also, to get this out of the way, not specifically at OP unless they bring up this point, there are no such things as lucky and/or unlucky accounts.
As an additional bit of proof this is a break rather than a fix is the fact that when in a squad, you still see their hp bar.
That sounds like a bit of inconsistency here. If “Show All Players Name” is unchecked it shouldn’t, by definition, show any names not even those in your party. Maybe the previous behavior was wrong and now it got fixed? Actually, I never realized if it would always show party member’s name despite that option being checked or not, then I can’t say much.
There’s a gigantic difference between “DO NOT show ALL player names” (it’s current functionality) and “do not show all player names EXCEPT those in my part and/or raid.” At worst, they broke the functionality by making the option do exactly what it implies.
Buy spring rolls off the TP. Boon/swiftness duration, find some mobs around you when you get on the map, murder em all, proceed to run around with 5+ minutes of swiftness.
Laurel merchant iirc
My hero panel says that I need Mastery points to continue. My experience bar says that I have 3,175,000 experience points out of 3,175,000. I have zero unspent mastery points.
The last bit unlocked was Supply Line Management. Do I have to craft all the pact recipe items to continue?
….You dont get mastery points for gaining experience. You “train” in the selected mastery with said experience. You gain MP by completing achievements, LS/PS stuff, etc.
One of the few staffs that isn’t a stick with something on top. I grabbed it even though I don’t have a lot of use for a staff right now. Maybe with the next set of elite Specializations.
That staff probably looks pretty cool on the melee staff users.
Yes, so much so that I plan on buying a couple skins while they’re cheap. One for all of my staff users (especially my disused rev, if only because the dom staff reminds me of the chrono cross Swallow-blade weapons), the others to sell.
First, I’m going to get this out of the way: kitten you for making me want to buy that outfit.
It’s there on all 3 for me. Just bear in mind that some dyes will depress the effect, rather than just provide a hue to it. Midnight Fire for example, drastically reduces it, while dyes like celestial enhance it a bit.
They should have an npc in LA that you can talk to to “complete” a pseudo-mission to let you remove those things off the screen.
I agree. The game needs more reasons to QQ and /ragequit over bunkers.
Except they removed the bunker-type stat sets from pvp.
rng for machines is impossible..thats one of the first things electricengineers learn.
If you learned that, change the place where you learn. No good will come from there. This is plain wrong.
True RNG is not possible, but true RNG is not necessary.
The important thing is that it is possible to have simulated RNG that has absolutely no connection to your account – so that even if it’s not completely random it will be equally random for everyone and no one will be guaranteed better or worse results.
Which does seem to be the case in GW2. Or at least the only evidence I’ve seen against it is purely anecdotal and more often than not along the lines of “My friend just pulled his 3rd precursor from the Mystic Forge, I once threw some rares in there and I lost money so obviously I have an unlucky account that will never get any good drops” with a follow up post further down where they admit that yes their friend does combine rares or exotics in the Forge several times a week and has never kept track of the results but suspects he’s lost more gold than he’s made overall.
As far as i see it really matter and it really have an effect on the acc bcs u use the same computer usually…
reposting this because you seem intent on thinking your account info matters. Read the bolded part.
hi
i have been playing this game since beta and i did not get any precursor is that part of the game design or is it because you want us to buy it always coz i feel realy lost !RNG isn’t tied on time, it is tied on tries. So if you play a lot in short time you have better changes than playing very little over long time.
unluckily rng with computers is never real rng..bcs the system tend to go to the same nrs again and again..so there are really lucky acc and notlucky acc
And this is why I have the below post bookmarked.
Threads like these only show it’s a PERCEIVED problem, not an actual, provable, fixable, problem. Perceived =/= real.
Second, those complaining about lack of drops have a notable LACK of information about what they’re doing. Brand new accounts? Most of them are probably doing open world stuff, things that help level characters and AP. The “old” accounts? Sitting in LA griping or running dungeons. On top of that, the devs arent going to say kitten, because they’ve [b]already stated it[/i]. Why would they repeat something that players have been repeating when it’s clear people who are utterly convinced otherwise (like those wearing tinfoil) refuse to listen? For you, their silence may be an indirect confirmation of an “issue,” but for the rest of us, them not saying anything is perfectly reasonable.
Why is it reasonable? One, JS has stated nothing about your account (this includes your serial code, for mr tinfoil above that mentioned it) other than your magic find boost affects RNG. Two, he’s stated it repeatedly in multiple threads. Three, he’s the game’s Economist, someone who’s definitely going to know more about the RNG than say, Gaile. Especially when said RNG has an impact on the economy he’s in charge of monitoring. Four, a working RNG is going to have outliers, both those with abysmal luck, like the OP of every friggin “RNGesus hates meh” thread, and those who can pull out back to back precursors. I’m in the middle of the average and better luck right now, having recently pulled an ascended chest out of a champ bag. If I was on my desktop I’d upload a picture of it. Fifth, Anet probably understands there’s no reasoning with these people, so arent going to validate their non-concerns, whether with an affirmative or not.
As a sidenote, the OP of one of the other threads has been directly told by JS that account-determined luck is a steaming pile of dolyak kitten. Twice.
Finally, you get to/make a good point. Does the system work? Yes. Does the system work as intended? Quite likely. Does the system work as players think it was intended? Clearly not when you get threads like this. The last one is where a lot of players base their “it dont work” argument. It’s also why JS made a thread asking about the different options working WITH rng (not replacing) with alternate systems, similar to dungeon tokens and fractal relics. While the same idea, they’re different systems- one is for obtaining loot you cant get without doing the dungeon (sans pvp) even though the dungeon doesnt drop it directly (be nice if it could), and the other is a system for obtaining loot if RNG doesnt roll in your favor to give you the exact one you want/need.
Before the latest patch, the game used to display the names of your party/squad even if you had the option “display all player names” unchecked. Now, it only displays them if it’s checked.
Sigh…. fixing thread eating bug.

It’s very simple dgraves. FULL ASCENDED is better than FULL EXOTICS by 16%. Why? Because I’m accounting for MORE than just the pretty numbers on the armor you call stats. The WEAPON damage difference is what makes the biggest difference between ascended and exotic. Granted, I doubt you understand that, or want to understand it since you seem to live in a world where ignoring all other relevant information is in high fashion right now.
Arguing with DGraves is like talking to a very slow baby that’s sitting on a dictionary while occasionally flinging ripped out pages at you. It doesn’t understand what you’re saying, nor is anything of it coherent or of any value.
Ascended weapons make a somewhat huge difference because the basic weapon damage range is also increased. But overall I wouldn’t call the stat bonus by Ascended a major advantage, it is for the most part a status upgrade.
The damage range between exotic and ascended stays roughly the same actually, the damage is just higher.
@ Aidan Savage. You forgot the Jewel for exotic trinkets, which you don’t have in ascended. The power you get from full exotic isn’t 2138 but 2288.
The wiki isn’t wrong.
But the point is still good. We all know that full ascended is better than full exotic. But ascended armor is a really really small increase in stats that is usually not really worth the investment.
The wiki isnt wrong, no, but his math is. I’ve omitted all upgrades in mine, using just the gear itself. Including upgrades make it more complex.
That’s because you’re fooling yourself into thinking you know this stuff dgraves. If you’d look at the table, the table also includes UPGRADES to trinkets, which I’ve omitted for the sake of simplicity. It’s also more obvious when gear stats go up by MORE than 5% per tier. Using the table you yourself provided, a masterwork 2handed weapon has approximately 8.8889% more primary stat than fine. Rare has approximately 7.482993% more primary stat than masterwork. Exotic, finally, has approximately 51.265823% more primary stat than rare. Ascended, the BiS tier, has approximately 5.020921% better stats than exotic.
No need for a toggle. GAoEs will automatically select point 0 (yourself) if your mouse is over any HUD element, like the skillbar.
As for engis, there used to be a reason to through them on enemies, but sadly they took away the Acidic Elixirs trait :c I miss stripping buffs off enemies at the same time as buffing allies.
hi

its cheaper to buy one from TP than to craft them XD…..
Unless oyu want one of the new legendaries.
Raids need a normal mode! [
Why? They’re MEANT to be difficult. You want a “normal mode raid”? Go do fractals or a dungeon.
PvP needs to count only personal mmr (so you get enemys that are as good as yourself and not only teammates)
Actually, no, if anything it should take the AVERAGE of your team’s MMR and use it. It wont ever use an individual’s rating because the fights arent 1vs1, they’re 5vs5.
and wvw needs an overhaul or at least a wvw season.
You realize they ARE working on an overhaul for wvw as well, right?
That would resolve ALL hardcore-casual problems.
No it wouldnt. The only way to resolve those problems would be to ban those who complain about the problem. No matter what anet does, there’s going to be SOMEONE who complains about it.
Dgraves didnt even get the math right. Again. Full ascended zerker gear gives you a total of 2382 power, while full exotic gives you 2138, a difference of roughly 244 power. With an engineer using a rifle as an example, here’s the math:
weapon damage: 1101 (midpoint/exotic) & 1150 (midpoint/ascended)
power: 2138 exotic & 2382 ascended
skill coefficent: 0.65 (hipshot AA)
armor: 2064 med armor target, exotic, zerker
Damage from exotic weapon: (1101*2138*0.65)/2064=~741 avg damage (noncritical)
Damage from exotic weapon (with ascended stats): (1101*2382*0.65)/2064=~825 avg damage (noncritical)
Damage from ascended weapon: (1150*2382*0.65)/2064=~862 avg damage (noncritical)
And because you cant use an exotic weapon and get ascended stats out of it, the difference ends up being 862 vs 741, which ends up being around a 16% damage increase overall before account for other stats..
edit: setting the other variables in the damage calcuation to 1 gives you a seriously wrong result when we’re talking about practical results.
(edited by Aidan Savage.2078)
I don’t hate raids. I actually like them being in the game.
I don’t like them affecting other content being released.
Well how else is that going to work? Someone has to do it and that means resources, which are not infinite, must be used.
Increase the man power behind LWS3
Decrease the man power behind raids.
Let raids have the lengthy release windows. Raiders care about PvE and the story of the game, so inbetween raid releases there is content that everyone can enjoy.
Non-raiders are happy with story. Raiders are happy with raids and story breaks.
Throwing more people at a problem, contrary to what some people believe, is NOT always the solution. Unless it’s a door in wvw. Then it’s always the answer.
I don’t know if this has already been brought up :
Apparently the pvp legendary backpack “the ascension” features an upgrade slot, which isn’t for infusions, but rather for upgrade components like ruby jewels, queen bee, etc.
Is this a bug ? I sure hope it is, considering that legendaries aren’t supposed to give any stats advantages to a player (except swapping attributes), if we slot an exotic jewel it would give around 55 more stats than a regular ascended backpiece, which is completly unfair imo.
Likely a bug, as it’s probably meant to be a defensive/offensive infusion slot, not an upgrade slot.
Players may now jump or glide from the “Havoc’s Heir”—safety railings have been removed from the airship.
Yes, the thread title is severely sarcastic, but I am glad they added this change. It’ll provide incentive for me to use the single-use passes I’ve got left.
Players should be required to actually think like a sentient creature.
Yeah they should, that way it wouldn’t be necessary to explain to you that for an MMO newbie (the people we need to keep this game alive) a single word “unique” with absolutely nothing else drawing attention to it is going to cause problems and is an inadequate warning.
Which is why I’m not against them adding one of those “tutorial” popup thingies, like you’d get when you unlocked a new feature/ability. Noticeable enough for players who JUST came across it, and something that isnt as obstructive as modifying the text for every single accessory in the game. You’re also forgetting human nature. Players are seriously more likely to STILL ignore additional text even if it gets added ingame. On the other hand, a screen-level notice is more likely to get their attention.
Considering the OP didnt stop and think “i should ask and/or find out why this has a ‘unique’ tag on it,” and probably blindly purchased a duplicate, it IS fair to settle the blame on them. Necessary? Not all the time, but definitely still fair.
Should there be a tip notice when you first obtain a unique trinket? Yes. Should there be descriptions on items in such simple terms that an amoeba can understand it? No. Games, let alone mmo games, should not be spoonfeeding players to the level they’re equivalent to a computer waiting for input. Players should be required to actually think like a sentient creature.
The odds are low, but, keep in mind that while it’s low, it also depends on how much oyu USE the forge. If you use the forge once a day, your odds of getting a precursor are miniscule compared to someone who spends an hour a day crafting rare weapons to pitch into the forge.
Some racial skills are strong enough in enough situations to rival their non-racial options, which is why they were never intended to be used separately from the rest of your skills.
When I started three years ago taking condition duration was “stupid”. Now it’s the opposite; the belief that 100% is the best option no matter what has emerged which is the same extreme assumption. Black and white, no?
You would think that a 3 year old problem would have been solved three years ago since nothing has actually changed but … yeah.
in general condi duration has always been the optimal choice for condi builds. its severely overbudgeted. but you used to only take enough to ensure that you capped out whichever condis you were using, similar to capping out crit rate in your assassin/zerk comparison. that constraint was removed.
Actually, before the changes which currently limit you to 100% condi duration, it was entirely possible to EXCEED 100%. I’m not certain of the exact number, by my necro’s autoattack was, with runes, traits, foods, etc, was able to break 15 seconds on the bleed.
That is unique to Necro Scepter only. That’s because Lingering Curse changes the base duration of the conditions.
Not by enough to account for it being nearly +200% though. This was back when it was a 33% increase, not the 50% we currently have. Granted, that did also include +30% from the trait line bonus too.
GW2 doesnt support, and likely cannot support, a system of this style.
Orpheal, new players dont belong in high level fractals in the first place. Additionally, there really ISNT any “grind” getting the AR. To top it off, scale 1-50 fractals are, frankly, stupidly easy for new players to access. 65 AR is what you need to do a scale 50 fractal. By then you should have 2 rings already, maybe one or both infused, which can be up to 20 AR alone, just doing dailies would mean you’d have enough laurels for the amulet for 25 total, and if you run guild missions, you’d have one or two accessories for up to 35 total. If you did any of the crafted backpieces, that’s 40 AR. That right there lets you get up to scale 38-39. If you’re really invested in doing fractals, you’d be in possession of at least an ascended weapon, and maybe one or two pieces of ascended armor, bumping yourself up to 50-55 AR.
