but hey…now downed shatter mesmer can port even if the thief that rped him 1v1 with panic strike is stealth stomping…much wow, some serious op survivability buff right there…worthless in 1v1 and in teamfight you can just target anything else and still use downed 2…or maybe pve heroes couldn’t…who knows…

Unprovoked, I receive the most snide and offensive comments and PMs when I use it…thus further increasing the entertainment value I extract from the game. Its great against the newest batch of Legendary Champs and PVEers who spent all but 2 weeks in hotm and think they know it all and better than you bcoz their finisher is higher up the chain.

Rabbit finisher is over used and doesn’t deliver the subtle message of being outplayed by a noob as good as the deer.

Also, there is a ginormous skill and overall knowledge disparity between the very first r80s or at least those who got there before any buffs were introduced and the recent ones. HUGE.

noone was r80 before 15 april 2014, when ranks still used to mean something, there had never been a REAL first r80…not even close to it since only ONE rank from 69 was 450k (Yeah right, 450 thousand rank points for going from 69 to 70…then 450k again from 70 to 71 and so on) and that was insanely long (Got my r70 myself just some days before the stupid patch that dumbed down r80 to 1kk kicked in trashing more than 2.5kk of my old points giving me a reterded emote looking like a failed 3d max rendering representing some sort of flying electric chicken)

let’s say there was a huge difference between those who got r80 while they were r55 and those who already were r65+ before 15\04\2014 since r70 required more than 3kk rank points in the old system, and it was THREE TIMES the amount of pnts needed for r80 now (Rank 80 was 8kk rank points before patch..quite a bit different)

tl;dr: r80 became a joke after 15 april 2014 patch…like all ranks anyway, after that you can now go from r1 to r80 in pretty much 4 months or even less since last year and that is nothing, no matter if you got it farming hotjoin or playing tpvp

so just chill down…noone cares about r80, everyone who’s not a total noob (And many still are) is r80, it’s like being in bronze league..

if you bother reading notes from the dumbest patch ever in the hystory of dumb patches here you go…

Hello,

correct me if I’m wrong – but I dont think there is a general answer to this question. It rather comes down to your team comp, your role in the comp, enemy team comp, map, etc.

So could you pls instruct me about the specifics? I play and like both specs but I’m having a hard time deciding which one to use in the given situation.

If they have thief and mesmer you definately need to go hambow, if they have heavy condi pressure and your team doesn’t have much cleanses (Aka not double ele) you should probably go shout, if you’re gonna 2v2 with engi mate (Pushing far, engi holding point while you roam and so on you want to go shout since engis are weak against condis) if you mainly fight with an ele on your side you should run hambow being able to eat direct damage. In teamfight hambow is offensive (CC, setup burst, pressure) while shout is mainly defensive (You almost play as a bunker guard, looking at condis on mates, their hp and so on…with the only difference that you can actually kill stuff if they manage to eat enough condis)

Anyway is a rather long story and a pretty different playstyle even if shout is probably overall way easier to play than hambow at high levels (I know some reterds actually think facerolling you kb is enough, that may be true if you’re used to be a scrub playing vs and with other scrubs..but there’s actually a HUGE difference between good warriors and ppl who just randomly push buttons…they may look the same to those who know nothing but you can spot if a warrior is good or not after 10 seconds looking at him playing)
Anway both specs have their strengths and weaknesses and you must consider both your and enemy’s comp before choosing

Profession swapping is allowed, with no penalties. This isn’t a policy change, we just don’t feel we can enforce it at a quality level we are comfortable right now. No ETA on its return.

Also, is the 1 minute cumulative or consecutive? Example someone swaps toons and it takes them 35 seconds, then they swap in match again later and it takes them 35 seconds. Deserter?

Cumulative. One disconnect for 1 minute is treated the same as 3 disconnects that are 20 seconds long.

So I’m sure we’ve all queued in ranked arena with 4 people and getting a pug that does not communicate at all and has no concept of teamplay while being against a full organised team. This was not that big of an issue previously since people that pugged team arenas generally had some desire to communicate with a team otherwise they would just solo queue.

One suggestion I have is to have a minimum number of unranked games won before being allowed to enter ranked arena, therefore requiring a minimum amount of team arena experience before being allowed to play games that affect the ranking of the rest of your team. What wouldn’t work is total games played or using rank as an indicator, since custom arenas do not promote any kind of team play.

I also support that but for slightly different reasons. I believe that actually ranked games are really an unfriendly place for beginners and should be locked until you have won at least, let’s say, 5 unranked games. This way, beginners would be better prepared to face whatever they meet on ranked game.
This should be part of the NPE.

There is point where you have already learned the basics and you are ready to play ranked. The rest comes with experience on the field.

I suspect by your words that you only care for your own victory.You shouldn’t think of other players as simple minions to your service. They just come in all flavors and shapes,and usually do their best

i sometimes really want them being like ai minions, maybe you would be able to control them or make them read team chat at least, instead of going svanir with 2 ppl on start and getting rekt while you have to go tryhard mode 1v3 on mid just to stay alive waiting for someone who is not coming

and then they eventually discover team chat just in time to write “Why noone helped with boss?”

At least the solo q leader board and system was ALWAYS individual players so the measurements were more accurate but the decay was terrible

I used to be for a grindy leaderboard. But this experiement has shown me that it doesn’t work. The leaderboard must be about primarily skill or nobody takes team queue seriously at all.

Shouldn’t matter, if 4 players win vs 5, they always deserve a win, and in addition, the people on the 5 team deserve -3 leaderboard points for managing to lose 5v4.

if you win 4v5 you should actually get WAY MORE points than if you were 5…

ar at least this is how logic works…

Nope, youd sacriffice a teammate, or even one of your multi accounts if were including that, when score would be 490-300 with safe 2 cap to get bonus points

First of all on celestial shout war you should keep your fire shield up as much as possible, use your savage leap on fire field all the time (Try to use leap just before combustive ends so you can still burn them after field is gone)

When you were vs thief and war and war went vengeance you also could have tried to track his vengeance letting them killing you as soon as his vengeance was ending instead of kiting at 1k hp…you would have been back up, leaving the ranger that was coming on point for a bit (Maybe kiting into the mine to los them and keep pressuring with lb from stairs until you got your shouts off cd able to get back holding point) considering you had banner up in case the ranger went down while you were kiting

But well those are moments where you have to think really smart and really fast and it’s all about experience…just remind bout fire shield and keep going, once you get used to play your spec you are gonna have less tunnel vision too during messy stomp/rally situations

When will they stop being about farming ranked and actually about skill/wins? I thought it was supposed to change this patch. Why even bother doing ranked atm unless you have no job/school/life and can commit whole day to do ranked?

I found it rather comical that botters and farmers were rewarded after all (dem under 50% winrates lol)~

The NPCs award points, and give you a buff. Who wouldn’t want that?

It takes a higher level of understanding of the both the map and conquest mechanics to get that securing mid is important.

How would you guys suggest we go about teaching this to players?

Don’t hide MMR’s so the people with bad MMR’s have less room to argue with the higher MMR players =\

If you DC and do not reconnect within the grace period, yes.

This is to discourage groups from leaving the match early to invalidate a win for the other team.

what about what used to happen really often to me aswell as many others: DC and server error when trying to relog? No matter what you do takes like 3 minutes to get back…and sometimes you just can’t relog at all, you just keep getting server error while cursing god and talking with your teamates (Who are losing 4v5) on ts about how good those servers are

Mid -> contribute to win in almost any scenario
Beast -> gamble to be stolen beast

Just now, an idea popped in my head. (means it’s only a theory)
If we send no one to mid,
a few people to beast can be free 25 points (=50 seconds from mid).
After instant kill, these guys may check enemy number in mid,
and choose between mid and enemy side beast.

Just a theory.. People bunkering mid rest of the game. Happens. Gl with the PvE theorycrafting

People bunkering mid win because we have been crushed in mid and became outnumbered and rush to mid again and again.
This is the case giving up mid and trying only with superior number. (as described)
No defeat in mid, people alive and points worth 50 seconds.
If they sent everyone to mid, we kill their beast (another 50 seconds).
Else, we outnumber them at mid.
Considering this, still no interest?

if you have people who keep going mid one by one without regroup or not even thinking about pushing sides instead, at least trying to divide them and win smaller teamfights then you just lost already no matter tactics and kitten

chief and svanir with 10k power + quickness for the first 2 minutes of the match….they’re gonna learn it the hard way, but i assure you this is definately gonna work.

Just had a Ranked match in Forest of Nifelel.

Before it starts, I say to my team

“Let’s not take the beast in the beginning, take MID instead.”

After an exchange, a ranger replies: “BEAST WINS MOST MATCHES NUMBSKULL”

Can someone please explain why you would want to start with the beast rather than mid?

Because they probably think that being a huge monster is gonna give huge drops and kitten…in dungeons it works like this…

that is a pretty legit reason for istant-afk imo…not even worth trying to explain why going for boss at start is totally wrong on so many levels, they won’t get it anyway

‘Miserable 60%’ is what top players in other Esports (e.g. LoL) usualy have in Solo Q.

Too bad this is not LoL…in gw2 60% is bad, not even talking about 50%, if you look at real top players they all have 70%+ at least…and it not all about going with premade teams, hiba for example despite going mostly solo still has 69%..

If you go here http://www.gw2score.com/PvP and sort ladder by win/loss ratio you’re gonna get a way more realistic ladder full of good players instead of a bunch of nonames farming ranked and loosing half matches

Sadly many players like zapdos and sizer don’t even bother playing ranked…and there’s a reason after all

Had war mate on temple rubberbanding everywhere…he was thinking he was on point while he was actually standing still on stairs…the next game on forest 2 dc and now i had 2 secs delay on weapon swap and our thief was lagging out like mad on legacy. Lost 3 matches because at least one of us couldn’t do kitten. And no, all connections were fine, no lags on ts, good ping on everything except for gw2.

Fix your dam servers anet…and please, for the love of god, do it once and for all

for the Nth time, the real problem is:
“boon removal options is not strong enough”
NOT
“celestial amulet is too strong”

also, another problem is, heavy boon removal professions such as mesmers and necromancers require high personal player skill level to perform well, or with good support from team mates.

you have no idea how many times i have experienced my balanced stance -> battle standard combo to be interrupted and my team mates stomped right before my eyes.

yes, the other team have players who removes my stability first before interrupting my battle standard.

simply improve boon removal options or the professions which are supposed to be strong in boon removals (mesmer, necromancers) and we will see less complains about celestial amulet. and might stacking.

or simply start toning down boon access on some classes….

why nerf things when we can buff things instead?

because since only few specs need toning down nerfing few things is way better than buffing everyone else leading to new op stuff popping up..

necro was op after dumbfire patch…they buffed wars in order to counter op condi necros…and ended up with wars being more op than how necros were before….if they plan to buff other specs to make them able to counter broken eles and engis we’re gonna end with even more broken stuff around….and everything is gonna start all over again

start nerfing incendiary powder since is one of the most reterded traits ever, and toning down ele’s access to permaregen and permavigor and\or putting some cd on cleansing water…or remove some fire and water fields that make ele a might stacking\support machine in teamfight with all those blasts around

everything is already gonna be way more balanced

S Ele (D\D Celestial) and Engi (Rifle celestial and those knockback spamming decap bs even running soldier ’n kitten)

A Turret engi (I know it sux in high level pvp but definately too strong considering the absolutely no skill it takes) and Shout War (Basically you just spam stuff and stay alive, also healing your mates while spamming)

B Guard, War, Thief, Mesmer, Ele not running cele d\d, Engi not running celestial rifle or decrap clown specs (Kb, imm, block block block, blind, kb, healing turret, kb, imm, block block….and so on)

B- Necro (Probably because of eles and shout wars cleansing everything you can possibly throw at them + lack of sustain) Ranger (DPS is meh…really situational, while condition is going nowhere for the same reason as necro)…i would say that nec and condi ranger are not so good just because some other classes (Ele first of all) being op hardcounters to conditions (Expec in teamfight), but they’re not overall bad imo

celestial alone is pretty meh…if you remove all boons from celestial specs they usually suck pretty bad. Real problem always had been celestial+kittenload of might, regen, vigor, protection and so on…the more access you have to those boons the stronger celestial becomes..and that’s why, considering boon spamming is real (And boon stripping is still pretty weak: the only really good boon stripper is probably shatter mesmer, not even a necro or s\d thief can control boon stacking in teamfight), celestial specs are the almighty kings of spam meta

You have played 8000 matches and still have not reached enlightenment of the way gw2 PvP works, probably a slow learner. A hint (build wars 2) you can’t play 1 class and expect to win all

it’s not about winning 1v1s it’s about specs/classes that are way too much rewarding compared on how much effort needed in order to be effective. There’s no skill on spamming kbacks and autoattacks waiting for incendiary powder to randomly proc (And since it’s random there’s also little couterplay to it…you dunno when it’s coming so you don’t even know what to dodge/block) same goes for d/d celestial ele, once you get the basic rotation you’re good to go….ofc being a really good one requires good play, problem is that everyone can be a decent engi/ele right after the box due to blatantly broken traits like cleansing water or ip

On ele they probably just need to remove one between permavigor or permaregen, on engis a little bit higher cd on healing turret and some key cc skills (Along with incendiary powder ofc, think it’s not really needed to mention it cause everyone already knows how kittened that trait is) would probably be enough to bring them in line…

and yeah air+fire definately needs to go…too much dmg for a totally random proc even on AUTOS (Pretty much like ip burning…)

I have wondered for a while why anet does not make the pvp section of gw2 completely free to play. This would likely increase the number of players and may even result in game sales to people that want to play the rest of the game. Most popular pvp games are free to play.

Hi guys,

It has been over 15 minutes since I made a post on this so here goes.

Mesmer ruins gw2. Not only are they brokenly op and clutter up your screen.

But in addition all mesmers do is cry 24/7 about thieves.

Well it is the same for everyone. Thieves are strong, get over it.

I would trade in all my necro kitten for the evades and immunities and ports and stealths a mesmer gets.

Thoughts guys?

Hi there! Today I drop here to talk about a concern I am recently having about the insane amount of Toxic Players on PvP ranked match.

By Toxic Player I mean people that behave in way that it hurts the game and even other player’s feelings. Some examples would be:

  • Players who AFK because they just give up and think it’s not worth playing. (yeah, they still do that knowing that the Dishonor it’s actually turned off or doesn’t work properly). Some of them even do give advice to the contrary team!
  • Players that harass, makes fun of and insults other players because they apparently come from PvE/they don’t play well enough/don’t follow their orders.
  • Players who just insult and blame their teamates after/during a lost game. Very common on sore loser who think they were awesome but their teamates failed.
  • Rage leavers (theses are actually punished on their leaderboard score anyway)

Personally, I both block and report those players (and even sometimes I send them a last message warning them about their rudeness).
I know that sometimes people just have bad days and cant hold their tongues. No one enjoys the taste of defeat, and I also sometimes rage too at home when I lose a match after another, but that’s not reason to behave that way or being rude. If you have nothing good to say, simply you shouldn’t say anything at all…

I am seeing that behaviour over and over is way disturbing, and I feel somehow fighting for a lost cause , and it will be always be like this until there is some action from above.
It’s not pleasant at all reading chat messages from a experienced player telling other ones to uninstall the game or to go back to PvE.

Above that, and also more disturbing to my understanding, I also noticed that some of theses toxic players are on the first page of the PvP Leaderboards (Sorry, not going to give names or hints about what region I am talking about), and well, it’s pretty troublesome that theses player are not only not being punished in any way for that kind of behaviour, but they are also going to be rewarded with juicy stuff!!

What do you think about this?

Use a dueling room that has restrictions on builds/amulets. Sounds silly at first until you enter an unregulated 1v1 server and 80% of the players are running PD thief, turret engi, hambow, celery ele, or whatever the current OP meta is.

You know pvp is all about winning…ppl run meta because it’s the best for the job, noone gives a kitten about fair fighting, if you can outspec and roflstomp the other team it’s their fault for not having a proper comp. Not saying it’s not lame and kitten…i’m just saying that it’s how it works

I honestly never really knew if this game was balanced for 1v1s/dueling, but since that september patch I have sort of inconstancy with my abilities in pvp.

When it comes to tpvp, I’m not bad. I can cap points, kill other players just fine, but when it comes to entering dueling rooms I tend to die a lot. Is the game balanced for 1v1s? Or perhaps I just need to practice more?

Most ppl in dueling servers run dueling specs that are utter crap in real world pvp, to make it even more worthless they fight on beach instead of fighting on points (Like it should be)…so you will see some terrible bs like condi mesmer and condi thief permastealthing around that would be total kitten in a proper conquest match and since celestial/ soldier are usually not allowed there rabid and zerk specs have a big advantage, there’s almost nothing reflecting “real” skills in dueling servers (Outside maybe thief vs thief since many thieves tend to use zerk meta specs in dueling too)

Pvp skill is more about proper rotations and holding points rather than winning 1v1 expecially on beach (This is an hardcounter’s game, and there ar some 1v1’s that you just CAN’T win, this is why rotations are way more important)

Anyway just remember that 1v1 should be on point (If it’s not thief vs thief)
If you can’t (At least) decap their point 1v1 in 1 minute you’re already failing…noone cares if you can win in 2 minutes, if you stay there for so long they can just rotate a thief there and you’re done. For example you can see plenty of hopeless dps rangers out there just pew pewing you 1v1 from outside point, you just kite and los them for some time, you thief rotates, ranger is dead in 10 secs, point is still yours and you’re 5v4 good to go. You don’t even need to kill ppl 1v1 if point is yours, cause if you keep them 1v1 on YOUR point you’re already winning…since on map it’s 4v4 but points are flowing on your side

it has been more than 2 years, why still no personal score for bunkers who actively contest neutral or captured objectives?

for example:

contesting a neutral point while your team holds:
1 capture point (earn 1 personal score every 2 seconds)
2 capture points (earn 2 personal score every 2 seconds)

contesting a captured point while your team holds:
1 capture point (earn 1 personal score every 2 seconds)
2 capture points (earn 2 personal score every 2 seconds)
3 capture points (earn 3 personal score every 2 seconds)

this way, bunkers will earn some personal score if they are actively defending the capture points. of course, if no one goes and attacks them, then they will not earn personal score as the captured point are not contested.
