I dont need any “signs”. I am 100% sure we’ll meet with her in the last episode.
Well, now the rest of us is a little more convinced of this, too.
Also, if that doesn’t solve the issue, posting your system specs and in-game video settings could help.
How boring is it that races in GW2 are merely cosmetic?
Not only aren’t dialogue and storyline personalized depending on your choices made during character creation (except for that tiny bit of the game until you walk off to fight Zhaitan), but racial skills are also underpowered and therefore never make it into any build (there should be an additional skill slot dedicated exclusively to racial skills), nor do races (for instance) have special abilities that modify stats to add some spice to profession choice.
I say race should matter. It should make a difference in both story and builds. It should not be merely cosmetic, because that only adds to the increase of boredom any game with a lack of variety poses.
(Note: Quantity in content, like constantly adding new maps with new mobs to bash or new items to the Gem Store, doesn’t make up for a lack of quality in story-telling, like having a more personalized story with more options and different paths, racial abilities, and what not.)
(edited by Ashantara.8731)
@OP – You miss the most important part: Those key people talking in the trailer, the veterans from GW1, are no longer part of the team. Founder Mike O’Brien (I loved that guy) left, and so did Ree Soesbee (she was great), and Daniel Dociu (his son took over as lead artist who apparently prefers a more modern style than good old-fashioned classic fantasy). That’s why GW2 has become more and more of a grinding game with weird new designs. And in many aspects it tries to copy other MMO’s core content (raids, for instance) instead of staying true to the original vision. I’d prefer to have better storylines personalized for my characters (race, background, alignment etc.) than new ways to ridiculously move through a map etc.
So I am currently desperately looking for an alternative, because GW2 just isn’t cutting it for me anymore (I’m merely hanging by a thread, trying to fill the “gap” with new characters only to experience some of the good content again on my way to Level 80). I am so bored most of the time. It feels too repetitive, as you correctly stated (and adding new means of travel doesn’t help the issue). Unfortunately, all the other MMOs out there are just as repetitive. The original vision of what GW2 was supposed to be has been canned in many aspects for the sake of satisfying those standard MMO players. While it still has a uniqueness about it, it is gradually fading. Quantity doesn’t equal quality.
P.S. This video summarizes the issue pretty well:

Yes, the Collection Trophies are useless once they have been added to the collection (please double-check if the item has been added and doesn’t have any further purpose).
Go full candle, with new legendary torch, wing 4 raid backitem and foefire wraps.
Yes, indeed. It’s rather laughable, isn’t it?
At least the Foefire Wraps don’t have candles, and when you wear them with certain long-sleeve chest armor, you see only the cool part (namely the wraps from the wrist down) minus the not-so-pretty bracers.
I think this could be done…and within the lore. Perhaps not a festival ALL the time, but it it could be live all the time.
I could see some of the survivors of the crash in Dry Top migrating back to the cliffs and it becoming the “2nd Home” for the Zephyrites.
Then, once a year they could have a festival honoring the spirit of the Zephyrite people and having all the special events and such as a celebration of life…which is greatly valued by the Zephyrites.
I love this idea! I hope the devs are reading this thread. <3
Many, MANY of us have been asking for something like this for a long time. They have said that they are looking into some different options for dealing with this, such as a button to allow players to disable the sounds, but we haven’t heard anything concrete regarding a plan as of yet, to my knowledge.
I still pray for the day that I don’t have to listen to The Dreamer, aka. Trollbow.
Oh well, thanks for the info. That’s a bummer. I do hope there will be something done soon. (A sound deactivation option for those weapons would be great.)
I’ve already transmuted Bolt into Whisperblade — ahh, the silence, sooooo nice.
Simply remove the language-specific prefix from the URL:

Two of the rings are already infused.
But are they attuned as I suggested in my post?
What people want them to do is a remake of season 1 that plays in instances so that you can live the story and its major dungeons and battles solo. Yes, that means taking things like Tower of Nightmares and the battle of Lion’s Arch and making solo instanced versions of those where you play with your bros of Dragon’s Watch.
This.
Unfortunately, trying to have a conversation on behalf of this topic always seems to result in some nay-sayers trying to lecture us about the nature of the original LWS1 and how it’s not possible or would take up too many resources (as in devs working on it), so “That’s not gonna happen, deal with it!”, and blah blah blah. It’s like running against a wall when you are trying to have that discussion on here.
If only petitions worked with ArenaNet, one could show them how many newer players would be interested in such a project and would gladly pay for the content.
(edited by Ashantara.8731)
It has already been requested several times, and if I remember correctly, the status quo was “It might come with future releases”.
Tip: If you want to change stats on the LWS3 and Mist rings, you can at least do that by simply attuning them in the Mystic Forge (be aware that you can only attune a ring once; you can also infuse it in addition, which would allow yet another stat change, but that is too costly unless you play Fractals a lot).
You can just check the box in your hero panel to toggle the backpack to invisible, same as with hat, shoulders, and gloves.
And that pretty much sums up why everyone has the “WTF” thought about the shoes/slippers.
You mean they could have implemented a checkbox for that too, instead of coming up with an ultra rare skin? Hmmm… now, there is an idea. (And yes, I was thinking the same thing.)
LWS 3 Trinket farm too grindy?
Just one word: Yes.
P.S. I have eleven characters equipped, some with more than one set, and again, yes, that was a grind I am glad is over. Of course, no one forced me, so…
I hope we get a Queen Jennah mini
You’re a funny one, aren’t ya?
I am hoping for another chance on the Divinity’s Reach backpack, but the best present would be (drumroll) the next expansion.
Equipment isn’t the key factor that makes HoT (and later content) easier to master. You need an efficient build and to train your player skill more than in the core campaign.
I remember entering HoT for the first time — I wouldn’t touch it for another six or seven months. Then, after I had played more frequently and improved my own skill at the game, I managed a lot better. By now, I regard the HoT maps easy to navigate and enemies just as easy to fight on my own, some with caution, of course. It really just takes getting used to.
As I can see, this still hasn’t been fixed and VB is still called “Open World Content” in LFG? Wow. How hard can it be to correct a simple database entry/link?
We get it. You like the Canach voice actor. Unless you can prove otherwise, the voice actor reads directly from the script which is written by the same writers that write everything else. There are other people that love other character voice actors more.
As I mentioned before, he let’s some contractions slip, plus it’s in his intonation that does the trick. You can recite something in one way or another, and it will make all the difference.
now we just need more high heels of various varieties across all weight classes.
Nooooo! On the contrary, we need less of those! (shudders) It’s so hard finding good flat boots/shoes for female characters as it is.
I just peaked into Black Desert, the armors for female characters are terrible (as are the animations and the girly anime voices). All high heels, short skirts, even stockings — so cheap. I felt disgusted and had to leave. That is the only reason I am not going to play that game.
Now, if GW2 continues with the sexist armor policy, I might consider leaving as well. At least, here we still have some alternatives (and it’s still much classier than in BD).
(edited by Ashantara.8731)
canach is the only GW2 npc left that I like, other than caithe. Taimi, Rox & a few others that aren’t human sounds like they ARE their character. Not like they’re reading from a script like braham or Eir. Not to mention the human & norn character voices that sounds like they reluctantly are reading from a script like “Oh, so 1 more take? groan. fine”
Funny you say that, because Canach is the only Shakespearean voice actor in that group who refuses to read the script to sound as colloquial as it has been written. He manages to give those lines some class, in spite of the mediocre writing, which none of the other actors manages.
Maybe I am just imagining things, but I am pretty certain that characters I haven’t played a lot lately are more likely to receive valuable loot than those I have played frequently.
Almost for sure, you are “just imagining things.” Humans are notoriously bad about remembering. We remember bad luck streaks better than good luck ones, we see patterns where there aren’t any, we remember “average” as “not good” (which turns into ‘bad’ in our heads). This is all well documented.
This is why scientists
don’taren’t supposed to make claims without rigorously comparing results. If you’re sure that you get better loot on less-frequently-played toons, start keeping track so that you (and your readers) don’t have to rely on whether you’re better than the rest of us at remembering.
While your statement about human memory is correct, there are still mechanics in many games (e.g., remember how farming was nerfed in GW1?) that limit or even reduce loot, rewards or (in some games) even XP upon frequent play in order to prevent the exploitation of the game’s mechanics.
And no, I am not going to “keep track for ‘my readers’”, as this is a game and not scientific research.
Once more, I just noticed the loveliness of the NPC chatter in the human home instance. So endearing!
Why can’t we have dialogue of that quality anymore which fits the setting of Tyria so well?
The whole point of this thread is to fantasize about new classes for those of us who don’t agree with some of Anet’s choices.
I, for instance, don’t want a heavy armored “Monk/Priest” in the form of a Guardian Elite Spec, or a heavy armored Ritualist in the form of a Revenant Elite Spec.
I think the a monk would be great for a guardian elite spec. However, the ritualist might be better suited for the necromancer as an elite spec, but it can either way.
Sure, a heavy-armored Monk/Priest. Where have you seen such an abomination before, in some sci-fi setting perhaps?
I could agree on the Necromancer Elite Spec for Ritualist, although, again, this is not a thread about Elite Specs.
1. Monk – maybe not identical to GW1, but close
2. Ritualist – as it was in GW1
3. Necro – revert minion summoning to like it was in GW1
-only summon from corpses
-bring back the minion army (with cap of course)
-teleport to heal via corpse
-minions degen and die (the degen timer like in GW1)
4. Mesmer – keep portal; make the rest like it was in GW1
Agreed on all four points.

1. Windows 8.1 is bad.
2. It’s not a gaming laptop, and you can’t tell me that other demanding 3D applications won’t also overheat your system. What else do you play?
3. Try to find a better cooling solution for your laptop. There are several on the market.
Example the Vine event in AB, I open all Ex. Chests and just click salvage all and walk away. I never even hear of anyone getting anything decent.
I have actually gotten quite a few exotics from those chests. My Magic Find is currently at 223%.
Maybe I am just imagining things, but I am pretty certain that characters I haven’t played a lot lately are more likely to receive valuable loot than those I have played frequently.
The new way the acquisition of ascended armor in PvP works is definitely not worth the time and effort.
Just for the record, there are also girls/women in PvP, “bois”. ^^
I just wanted to say great job on the new PvP lobby. […]
I can only second that — love it! Such a lovely panorama and great atmosphere, some climbing/jumping action too, and of course the llama achievement — all fun.
Also, the new features are great as well, and of course the change to the match end — at last I can look at my stats in piece and even truly enjoy the victory on a pedestral! Just, please, could you add a slider for the (de)capping sounds? Those are truly unneccessary and do annoy many players.
The old system of matches just popping up with the victory notification and then allowing players to finish fights was INFINITELY more satisfying.
No, it was not. It was annoying as hell to not be able to look at the final stats etc. in peace because some people always felt like they needed to continue to attack you like raging wackoes.
I love the new system — bravo, Anet!
Buying HoT for a friend in exchange for gold?
in Account & Technical Support
Posted by: Ashantara.8731
Why don’t you let them log into the game on your PC, then (under their supervision) use their account directly to buy the game with your credit card (or whatever payment method you use), then log into your account and let them buy you Gems with their card in return?
That way, you would avoid the risk of transferring gold.
Even the ones that are fighting without snowballs are still just play-fighting (which is normal, non-hostile behavior in cats and many other species). Again, no damage is being done to the cats, no blood, and no angry cat sounds.
Well, to be fair here, one has to point out that the sound they make when hitting each other is rather brutal, and they do fly quite a distance when hit.
P.S. I have tried adjusting the volume by using the effects channel, but that just doesn’t suffice as it affects all effects’ volume.
Elite Specializations - were a terrible idea
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Ashantara.8731
Elite specs shouldn’t make you better at everything you do. They should’ve been created in a way that opens up new builds and ideas, but not buff all existing builds.
I completely agree with this. Unfortunately, the damage is already done, and unless Anet revises its whole system to correct that mistake, I don’t see a remedy for it.
P.S. @ Orpheal.8263: No offense, but you keep repeating the same statement over and over again, in variations, when you could have made your point in just one paragraph.
So could we pls be allowed to trasmute heavy armor with light skins mediums with heavy and light with medium (and all the other compinations).
I would love that! Then I could finally make my Norn Druid actually look like a Druid (with some light armor skins).
Excluding a scythe or musical instruments, couldn’t all this be accomplished via Elite Specs, rather than adding new classes?
The whole point of this thread is to fantasize about new classes for those of us who don’t agree with some of Anet’s choices.
I, for instance, don’t want a heavy armored “Monk/Priest” in the form of a Guardian Elite Spec, or a heavy armored Ritualist in the form of a Revenant Elite Spec.
We’ll probably get to choose a second racial backpack too.
That would be sweet! I want the DR one so bad… Picked the Hoelbrak one last time.
The coolest 5th anniversary gift, however, would be the new expansion.
I have never truly gotten into the profession of Thief yet, and if they nerfed its damage that severely, it is unlikely I ever will.
P.S. Has it happened before that ArenaNet “sneaked in” a balance patch without informing the community about it? (I can’t recall downloading any updates last night…)
Been a while since ive looked back at this but interesting to see the life still going so heres a few more musings:
[…]
It was a pleasure reading through your theories. All the connections you made actually make perfect sense. It would be so exciting if those turned out to be accurate. I would love that!
Even though i like Taimi, it would be an interesting plot point to let her die. She’s kind of.. op.
LOL, I hadn’t noticed!
P.S. I like(d) her, too, but the OP part has made her totally annoying. I don’t like having an NPC doing all the work for me, reducing me to the mere “muscle” whose only job it is to kill things.
Could we please get a separate audio channel in the game’s options to regulate the volume of weapons’ special effects? (Yes, that mainly goes for legendaries, as I can’t think of other skins that have special audio effects.) It is currently tied to “Effects Volume”.
For instance, I can’t stand the constant crackling of Bolt. (I just finished the legendary, and the YouTube videos I had watched didn’t make it stand out like that, i.e. that the crackling is a continuous sound as opposed to only playing when drawn.) It is majorly distracting und unpleasant, and I am considering using a transmutation charge only so I won’t have to hear it anymore.
Another good (and majorly annoying) example is the constant neighing of The Dreamer everytime a shot is fired. I don’t own that one (and never will, mind you), but have a guild mate who uses it during our raids — yikes!
If it’s possible, please add the option. You would immensely enhance my GW2 gaming experience.
Im relatively new to GW2 so if this is the standard im completely unaware but why???
I think that criticism isn’t new and they have listened to it, seeing as the final mission of the current episode does indeed sport that skip option. However, changing old content is always something Anet dislikes to put resources into, unless it is the fixing of severe, game-breaking bugs.
I think a future glimpse of an adult Aurene will be among the final footage of GW2, as a teaser for GW3. That means a long, long time from now.
The Death of the gods?
I believe quite the opposite. They will finally return! That’s why this heretic weapon is needed.
Plot-twist: What we think is The Mists is the real world and we are actually playing in The Mists!
Why, all of a sudden, am I having an awful “Lost” flashback?
This is an argument I think every player can support: more festivals would be more better.
Yay, we agree! I still would like to experience the Festival of the Four Winds (and other no longer existent events) first-hand though.
Mainly because I NEVER use shortbow – I find the range/distance of the skills really lame, and the skills not good enough.
Are you joking? Shortbow is the main bow used in the most efficient Ranger builds. The CC etc. is invaluable. I do have a second Ranger with a Berserker build, though, who also uses longbow — however, my Rangers use their bows only as secondary weapons as they do primary damage with their(semi-)melee ones.
But yes, a nice longbow (unlike the kitschy Kudzu) would be something to behold. However, looking at the more recent legendaries, I am afraid it would make Kudzu look like the cream of the crop in comparison.
im glad to anounce that the new legendary bow has arrived in the gemstore ^^
LOL! Yes, indeed. Wow. ^^
(edited by Ashantara.8731)
Some of the adventures where fun, others a pain in the behind. I have some at gold but most at silver and didn’t feel motivated to keep trying for gold. Some skin reward would indeed have been a better motivation since there are enough Mastery Points to be earned elsewhere.
Please add a sound option for weapons’ special sound effects. The constant crackling of electricity from Bolt is starting to aggrevate me, as does the sound when other people use The Dreamer (the neighing at each shot is driving me crazy during raids with my guild mates, of whom one is in possession of said legendary weapon).
I forgot to mention how gorgeous most of the WvW maps are, and I wish we had such maps in PvE.
- We go back to Braham and tell him Jormag’s (probably) asleep
- he starts attacking the commander as he is unable to carry out his revenge and has no
idea where to channel his wrath to now
- we fight him 1o1 and can finally smack some sense into him, as this seems to be the
only language he understands.
I’m afraid that won’t do it. I have a strong feeling that Braham’s thoughtless actions, fueled by his hunger for revenge, will get someone close to him killed — probably Taimi. Only then will he wake from his vengence and understand where blind rage has led him.
