Doesn’t the tooltip of Spectral armor still says that it doesn’t work with other forms?

I use it for the passive. And im going to be trying a solo arah p2 with that build soon. Need to get some more practise on lupi with warrior first though.

Lol, good luck with that. At least with a warrior they have off hand block, Endure pain, and stamina regeneration signet. We, as necromancers, got no block, no vigor, and no invulnerability. So, not sure if that’s possible.

You should have 93% crit damage. Atleast thats what I have. Full ascended though. People mentioned in another thread that strength of undeath is bugged so its not 5%, its flat power. Target the weak is always stronger (you can maintain 3 condis on your own + more) and seeing as you arent using DS to dps you need higher precision to boost your dps. Retal isnt gonna help much unless fighting trash in pve and in most situations you should be getting fury from teammates aswell. So perma fury is very easy to maintain.

Trust me, try that build out in a decent group with a warrior or two and you will see how good it is.

You might have missed my gear setup, but I have Knight armor, with zerker the rest. Since I recently got Incinerator which is Soldier stats, I switched out my helmet to berzerker from Knight to compensate a little. So, I won’t actually have 93% with this build unless I switch out the rest of my gear to Berzerker, however I don’t want to be a full glass cannon, I hate it. Just the idea of dropping in one hit isn’t fun. Arah won’t be easy as full berzerker Necromancer.

Another thing is, I don’t like to be too group-reliant. I understand having a warrior in group would give me good might + fury uptime, but there are many times when there isn’t a warrior around. Don’t want to drag myself back unless I have a certain group setup. I did try your build all day yesterday, sometimes even had warriors with me. It is a solid damage build.

I do have a question however, do you use the signet of spite for the increased damage, or dps relying on the passive?

Hm?
I am rather sure that people are whining quite a bit about how hard the Gauntlet is, so I don’t really follow how it can be “mindless gameplay”.
But then again I suppose one only chooses to see what supports ones argument?

The farm is done with specific classes, using specific builds. Something that has high burst and damage denial. Such as blind and reflect. This is why Thieves, Guardians, and to some extent mesmers can pull it off easily.

As for how much those people are being rewarded, just read the Deadeye farm forum, people are making more than 600g. Buying pretty much everything they need from the TP. Which causes a major inflation since the supply getting way lower than the demand.

I am truly saddened to see this happening to GW2, I had high hopes for this game. It had great potentials, but they keep doing one mistake after the other. In the end, people will get fed up and leave. Happened to me with RIFT and SWTOR before. They need to stop throwing stuff left and right, and focus on ONE content at a time.

When I first joined GW2, I thought it hated the idea of farming. They culled everything that rotated around farming, and they even introduced Diminishing Returns to keep the prices fairly high in TP. Then you have this latest patch, which is about nothing but farming. Farming for gold, farming for exotics, farming for T6 drops. No diminishing returns, no actual waiting time after defeating a boss with gambits, nothing….. Just farm farm farm farm. Whoever lasts the longest, makes the most money. I prefer people actually farming for their required materials a million times over farming gold and champion loot bags.

Yesterday, I spent the whole day trying the 30/25/0/0/15 build in dungeons.

Cons:
1- I feel squishier.
2- I lost a big chunk of critical damage from 93% down to 77%. If I use scholar runes, it will even go down 74%.
3- I lost a 5% increased damage (SR25)
4- Lost ability to enter DS every 8 seconds. Thus losing retaliation and fury uptime.
5- Lost DS pool size.

Pros:
1- I gained some precision to break the 50%.
2- Gained 2% increased damage per condition on foe. On average the enemy has 3-4 conditions. That’s 8% damage increase.
3- Able to trait Warhorn.

Not sure if I missed anything, but can’t say if the 30/25/0/0/15 beats my 30/15/0/0/25.

As for 30/10/0/0/30. I use that in sPvP, and used that for a long time with Axe/Focus. However, for a dagger build, outside DS, without fury, makes it annoying. I have yet to try it with dagger.

I truly don’t understand why they are doing this.

1- Why Ascended gear when there is no higher end game?

2- Why make gauntlet farmable? And not just for Achievement-wise?

3- Why have all dungeons give the same rewards except AC and Arah?

4- Why make events spawn champions when they scale so high, making people do nothing all day except farm?

If I actually go for 30/25/0/0/15, I won’t have precision issues, then scholar runes would be best.

Thanks for the suggestions, I’ll try this build. Already have a warhorn, so no problem there, and I usually do swap WoC to other stuff depending on the situation.

Edit: Any specific choice of traits?

2. When the time is right, turn on your tag and steal his zerg.

3. Laugh like a maniac.

I only agree on the first part lol.
Follow other commanders, and watch them as you learn from their actions. Once you feel like you can do it, put it on and lead, while improving whatever you felt lacking.

More time gated content is not what GW2 needs…

That’s not time gated, you can make a rotation in Orr, then join in on events, afterwards, move to frostgorge, do the champs there and events, once these are done, and if you feel like you still want more, you can either go to lower level areas champs or do the dungeon champions.

This way you still had your share of bags, and prevented all the people from farming day and night in the same place. You even made them do more content to get what they want. I think it is a good idea myself.

The T6 mats are not going up because there’s more cash. They’re going up because crafting to 500 and making T7 mats is likely to require a lot of T6 mats, and people are hording them so they can get a jump on the new crafting.

This might be the case, however I doubt it. Many people haven’t gone for their Legendary because of how much T6 mats is required, and money making was harder in the past than today. Today, if you just run 5-6 dungeons, thats more than 6g. Another thing I’ve realized is precursor price going up. Spark went up to 560g from 500g in one night. So I believe many took this chance to start building their legendary.

As for crafting level 500, I highly doubt it will require THAT much T6 mats. It will start off with T6 mats until you are halfway through, then T7 will be required to continue to 500. Just like all the previous levels.

Dagger Build

After getting my incinerator, I wanted to change into a dagger build.

This is my build

It is a DS flick on/off build. Currently using it for PvE. Haven’t done much WvW lately, so can’t say how well it performs there.

Stuff I’m considering:
~Changing my orbs into Eagle runes for increased precision and damage at health < 50%, but don’t know if 5% increased damage is better than 120 power which i lose from the orbs.
~Changing the build into a more signet oriented.

Let me know what you think.

Help with dyes?

The problem is that each set has different color effect on them. On some sets Abyss will look lighter than grey on other sets. Not to mention people abuse Abyss dye, yet in my opinion it kills the armor details on many sets.

However I can name some dyes that I love and used a lot on my necromancer: Evergreen, Charcoal, Pitch, Emerald, White Gold, Midnight rust.

While I don’t really agree with your reasoning, 1, 2 and 5 would be improvements that I like to see
3. Bad idea. Champions won’t ruin the economy too much. They’re dropping skins that will soon be very devalued because of how over saturated the market will be with them and mostly T6 mats. T6 mats need to drop in price by a lot before T7 comes out.
4. It’s the rarest thing in the game. I don’t think that it should cost 2G. That being said, less RNG can and will be involved – they were talking about adding a difficult hunt for it or to make them craftable from T7 materials.

Champions + skins already damaged the economy. It is true you gave people more ways to get T6, however you also gave them way more money to buy them. That’s why all T6 mats went up in price, except for claw since it wasn’t nerfed yet with its extremely high drop rate. In my opinion, going for T7 and ascended gear is totally unnecessary for lack of higher content, but that’s totally a different discussion.

I didn’t say 2g, come on don’t exaggerate lol, I meant they should be between 50g-200g maximum. 500g -700g is just absurd. I do know more ways are coming to acquire precursor, however, it is time gated, and increasing the rate on precursor drop a little won’t hurt the economy.

You got my attention until that paragraph…

But i can’t support you any more when you ask for “smaller” achievs & ask to remove the AP bonus for earlier GW players, playing GW2 atm ( Hall of Monuments)!

Asking for Hall of Monuments to be removed, is the ultimate selfishness attitude in this game, IMO!

You got me wrong there, I didn’t ask the HoM to be removed, keep it there with its rewards. Just keep the AP system strictly for GW2. Moreover, “smaller” achievements don’t mean easier ones. Smaller achievements can be something like “Finish a fight in a dungeon without getting hit with AOE.” “Kill a boss in a specific way.” “Kill world bosses”…etc…

What I’m saying, is I’d like the AP system to have a meaning. If you see someone with 7k AP you would go, “wow..that guy did a lot in GW2.” and not “Heh, he did dailies everyday and has HoM.”

Hope that made sense.

Lol its more on the lines of “zerg” is the end all be all excuse a person tells them self that is why they failed to do something. That alone show your argument is more related to YOUR ability to get things or not get things as fast as you want it has nothing to do with what your playing its all you.

Had to read that few times to understand. It is true that with zergs, it is easier to accomplish things, and up to you whether to join a zerg or not, but trust me, without zergs you won’t be as efficient, and even sometime fail. Let me tell you why, i tried doing champions with 8 people, took us a lot of time to kill one champion. As for PvP, try killing a group of 4-5 people alone, you won’t be able to do it. For WvW, obviously the bigger the zerg against you, the harder your fight.

So zergs = win in GW2.

Well, I’m not someone to judge something right off the bat, thus I’ve been playing GW2 for 11 months now hoping for an improvement.

This is what I think of it:

1 – Zergs: Everywhere you go, you see Zergs, most of the fights are based around zergs. WvW? Zerg! PvP? Zerg! Now PvE? Zerg! Barely any strategy.

2- Achievement Points: The achievement points system is the worst I’ve seen so far. Other than the fact that if you played GW1 and did nothing but the dailies/monthly for the past 11 months, you should have at least 6k AP. Making AP mean absolutely NOTHING. Working for one Legendary takes months, yet you are awarded with 5 AP where as doing a daily, which takes 10 min, awards you with 15 AP.

The achievement point system is lazy at best, instead of putting in so many little fun achievements to do, they just put one big one that lasts a lifetime. Kill 1000 enemies of certain type, kill x number of players in WvW, kill x number of dolyaks in WvW, win x times in sPvP, kill x times in sPvP. Then you have the activities which have ridiculous
numbers as well making you grind over and over again.

The jumping puzzles and explorer achievements are on the right track, but you can finish those in less than few weeks.

3- Economy: The in game economy is going from bad, to worse. With the last champion update, many people ended up with tons of money from farming, which caused a major inflation. T6 mats and precursors have gone up in price. They release stuff without giving it a second thought, like those who are farming the gauntlet, and the new exotic skins dropped from champ bags.

4- Dungeons: The only real dungeon they released was the Aetherblade one. That felt like a true challenge with all the achievements with it. However, that was temporary. Apparently, to Anet logic, all of the dungeons have the same difficulty except AC and Arah. TA, CM, and CoE rewards the same as CoF P1, which shouldn’t be the case.

5- In-game Details: There are a lot of important details found in other games that should have been taken into consideration at the beginning of the game. Such as sticky target, target middle of screen, squad window showing joined people, minis
window to access them anywhere, … etc.

How to improve?

1- Release permanent content that relies on strategy and tactics more than zergs.

2- Add many little fun achievements instead of the big bulky ones, and remove AP from dailies, monthly, Hall of Monument. In other words, make the Achievement point system totally related to how much you’ve accomplished in GUILD WARS 2. This will give the AP system some actual meaning. Take WoW for example, having 7k AP in WoW means you have done A LOT, where as in GW2 7k AP means you did dailies/monthly everyday and possibly HoM, you haven’t actually accomplished anything.

4- Increase the drop rate of precursors. We shouldn’t pay 600g for an exotic. This is absurd. Gathering the rest of the requirements isn’t a joke. I feel happy because I got my Legendary, however, I paid over 500g for an exotic….

5- I love the idea of dungeons’ rewards. However, I feel like CoE shouldn’t reward the same as CoF. Even TA can be challenging. If it wasn’t for a guildie that needed TA tokens, I would have never stepped inside. CM can go from easy to a wipe in less than a minute. Giving them all a solid 1g isn’t fair. AC isn’t harder than TA, they are the same. AC path 2 is the same as CM path 2, where you need a strategy to win a fight. So I suggest increasing the rewards for certain dungeon paths to make them more tempting.

idiots moments

At some point my level 80 warrior must have had his Traits reset. I never noticed it and could not figure out why I was sucking so badly.

lol, that happened to me, too, when I returned after a couple of months break. I eventually figured out why e.g. my warhorn skills weren’t turning conditions into boons anymore.

i paid for the trait resets without realizing my warrior was already given free traits resets.

haha At least you didn’t pay for the manual another time thinking that’s how you reset your skill points. I know two people who done this. Paid 2g for the manual thinking that’s how you reset.

The only stupid moments I get is when I dodge in the freaking wrong direction. Sometimes I fall to my death, sometimes right into AOE, and most of the times, right into my death :P.

Champion Farming Question

In Gandara Cursed Chores becomes way too crowded that loading screens take more time, and champions die way before I can reach them.

In Frostgorge, less people do it, and many of the champions you reach them via running from some other champion instead of only using Waypoints..

I tried conditions, and failed because of the way I play. I hate staying in the back throwing condition at everyone like a sissy. I like to go into the midst of the fight and bruise everyone so bad, that everyone else can finish them. Which is why I play powermancer.

Power build, killed him easily. Even the meat achievement was easy. I basically focused on the pet and took all the meat before it reached them. After a while you will do amazing damage. Axe/Focus (30/10/0/0/30)

People arent calling for nerfs, people are calling for design fixes. The arena design isn’t good, and it makes the fights harder than they should be.

For example spotting the meat on that ground was painful, spotting the AOE from liadri was painful, spotting the red circles in Deadeye was painful. Moving around with a camera angle stuck close to you was painful… etc…

Those aren’t nerfs, but fixes.

I’m not colorblind, and I think the color choices/design of the arena/fight is by far the worst.

I even started a post somewhere else for Necromancers Death Shroud. As you know DS makes the screen a little green, and the AOE is red. Which makes the AOE little brownish, pretty close to the color of the ground.

I think they should either make the ground flat without any holes in it, or add huge white skull images inside the red AOE to make it more visible.

I’m not conditionmancer. Again, regardless if we can or cannot do it with DS. People are abusing the post-processing to avoid unnecessary difficulty in the fight. Ticking this off should make it easier with the DS on.

To be honest I finished the fight even before I knew about this post-processing. I had more than 10 tries just to figure out where to position myself when the blinding flash AOE hits.

Is it too much to ask to make the red AOE more visible without having to modify the options?

Sawnic, Andele has a point with the Death Shroud being important for Necromancers. The amount of damage we can dish out with 100% crit chance while eating Liadri’s constant damage is nice. If I want to respec, I would go to something even more tank-ish, and it also includes DS. From 30/10/0/0/30 to 0/0/10/30/30. No matter what you choose, you will need to go into DS at some point to stay alive.

I just wanted the devs to take this into consideration for any future implementations. Green + Red = Brown. Simple

The problem with Arenanet, everytime they bring back something, they reset it as if we never played it before. Take the activities. We farmed those throughout all of the events, just to start fresh again once they were brought back.

When a world event reoccurs, such as Halloween, will the achievement points done in that event reset, or will we be able to continue where we left off last season?

I finished all the achievements of such events so far, however when the time comes, and an event repeats itself, I don’t want to redo them. I’d like to work on whatever I couldn’t do last event. Such as skins and so on.

So, respec to something that uses Death Shroud less. I had to respec to a DPS signet build on my mesmer away from my usual staff bunker build.

I might have to do that for the next orb achievement, however, that wasn’t my point. My point was about the encounter visuals which shouldn’t make the fight harder that it really is. The ground and the colors are poorly chosen.

And to make things worse, there is no prompt window asking if you are sure you want to use the balloons. Double tap the F on the chest and you will find yourself in Divinity Reach -_-

What bothered me the most wasn’t actually the dodging, since I memorized the pattern and had the food buff up, what actually bothered me the most is the Death Shroud User Interface.

Let me explain, when you use DS, the screen turns a little green-ish, now as we all know, the arena ground is brown-ish. The AOE from Liadri is red. Red and Green = Brown.

On my Necromancer, I run 30/10/0/0/30, so I’m heavy DS specced. I can’t count how many times I wiped in the Arena just because I couldn’t see the red AOE. To make things worse, the ground has wholes in it, so spotting the red circles is even harder.

The way I beat her was I went lich on phase 2 and burned her down. Without DS UI I was able to spot them way easier and move accordingly.

Please Arenanet take this into consideration.

Now, time to try to go for the orbs achievement.

No, just no, took me a whole day just to learn the pattern and be able to do it on my Necromancer. The difference is that 1 mistake is all what it takes for us to get downed. Where as other classes have either invulnerability or teleport/shadowstep.
Even before learning the pattern, I was able to pull off the first phase with my dodge thief, however, since damage sucked, I couldn’t do phase two. So I stuck with my Necro since he is my main.

I believe they are a bug? I think there is a legendary boss that spawns them, and they fail to despawn at the end.

I agree with Blaine, you might have been doing the pavilion mobs where they hit hard, and some hits might instantly down you. Another thing is, if you aren’t critical hitting that much, check if you have weakness on you. Some trash mobs, i think pirates, throw weakness condition.

The elections were rigged. ArenaNet decided beforehand that Kiel is going to win. Probably because they already have made content based of her. But you know what ArenaNet? You just lost a long time player with this move. There isn’t going to be a better time to uninstall GW2 from your computer. Was fun till it lasted. Tired of this crap.

You aren’t the brightest if you thought that way. In my opinion Anet wanted Evon to win, which is why they’ve placed the abaddon fractal there. Cheaper keys = more people spending money on the gem store.

Define casuals, because personally I consider myself a casual, yet I’m going for my 5th 80, and almost 8k achievement points.

I voted for Kiel because I use WPs a lot, so I’ll benefit the most from that. I know I will never buy keys from gem store, and I know no matter how many people wanted to play the Abaddon fractal, after first few runs they would want to just skip through it, or find exploits to get it done faster. Who knows, if it was even as tough as lava fractal for example, people might end up skipping it altogether. So why bother with which fractal?
