I play ranger in Australia. Only have middling issues with latency. Sure, it has its problems but I somehow get by…in PVE only
A Black Sword with Black flames XD or a simple black blade haha
We already got one, it’s called Eternity
I hate it
ah yeah, because eternity is black and has flames……
anyway, i think he means something like this:
http://s1225.photobucket.com/user/OrderofTwilightImages/media/GantasDemonSword_zpsf6750008.jpg.html
Ah bugger, I meant Twilight. Eternity is half correct though!
I hate all three of them
Azhure, congrats to you and your guild. You’re having fun, playing the game as it was designed, and making people rethink a Pavlovian response of “kill Elemental, run to Ogre”.
Some people may not like that they’ve been caught off guard by the change in pattern, but to quote the Principia: “’Tis an ill wind which blows no minds.”
I’d also like to state that many times, people have killed the FE and then run off to do the SO very quickly. Many other people don’t get there in time, and miss out on the event, even if they do get into the opening. Having the event after the FE doesn’t mean everyone gets a reward for it. That’s part of why I have a fully charged key waiting for a day when I’m in the mood to trigger the event at an odd time. Having that key meant that I walked past a large herd of people calling for someone with a key to unlock the event for them. No one did.
I like your style.
Also, you purposely killing the ogre to spite the OP? Yeah, that is griefing.
Actually, according to the others, this isn’t considered griefing. I’m within my rights to play the game how I want, on my own schedule. Sounds fair to me.
Except you;re doing it with the intention to spite op, and op is doing it to do guild events with other people sociably.
Yours is much more rude and hateful, where op’s is genuine.
Actually, with sufficient evidence, OP could report for griefing and have a possible chance of getting it actioned whereas reporting the OP wouldn’t be even looked at
3. Attacks elementals instead of shaman, while he has his shield up
There’s nothing wrong with this as long as you have shaman selected as a target.
If you have him selected as a target then each successive skill used will remove a stack off of his shield.
This is why I, for example, will aim my ice storms/meteor showers in the areas with the biggest concentration of elementals.
I will just assume the team you had was really bad either way and probably didn’t have shaman selected. Pugs blow.
This would have been fine and it’s what I do. I was with 2 guildies both of whom are fractal veterans and I usually main a warr, so slashing around like a mad charr is easy….

BUT THE ELES WERE AUTO ATTACKING THE MOBS.

(edited by Azrael.4960)
I don’t recall stating that I “don’t care” or that I’m doing this to intentionally “make others mad”. Where do you get off saying so?
By proclaiming the following:
For better or worse I’m the type that cares for my group above all else.
You say you give everyone the option to join your guild for the Steam Ogre. I say you should do the Steam Ogre when FE isn’t around. That way, you don’t ruin the run.
Yes. That is entirely within your rights. However I would question your intent, if it were only to try and spite me. Also know that it is incredibly easy for me and mine to reroll a new FE map that has an Ogre chamber not on cooldown.
Not sure why you don’t just do this in the first place, and get your guild away from the train. You complain about others getting mad, yet you intentionally do the Steam Ogre out of order. So as my above suggestion states, don’t do it when everyone else is here for FE.
Any which way you argue it, the inverse is also a legitimate argument.
After skimming the thread, I’ve come to the conclusion that if I decide to open steam ogre’s room exactly 20-21 minutes before fire elemental, thus depriving azhure’s guild an ogre spawn in favor of generating one in time for the world train to arrive, I’m fully within my rights, I’m not trolling, and azhure can suck it up. Sound about right? Anyone see something wrong with that?
I doubt the guild would care to the same degree as the mindless zerg. They’d probably just move on to the next step in the guild event rotation. You seem to miss the fact that the guild is doing it as a social event for guild bonding. If one point in their stop is busy, they can move on and continue their guild activity.
To recap, the reason people were mad isn’t because they missed out on a minor Champ Bag. The main problem here is that trolls ruined the pattern of the run. Because of this, I haven’t touched the Steam Ogre in a while. I heard it was bugged, so I stopped going to FE. But now that I know why it was “bugged”, I’m upset, purely in principle.
But trolls are everywhere. In WvW claiming Keeps with 0 buffs in a small guild. Undercutting my prices on the TP. And purposely ruining PvE trains. I’ve learned to live with it, but that doesn’t mean I’m not allowed to be upset at some people don’t understand the logic of how a train operates.
Constantly referring to Azhure as a troll, you apportion malice to their purpose of doing Ogre. By their very opening post, they have said they announce their intent in map to do the event. They’ve gone to the trouble of preparing a key and announcing it. How can any malice be attributed to them and their guild?
What you seem to miss is that the train is not convenient for all players. Azhure and their guild have their own “train”. Should an entire guild be inconvenienced simply because their train schedule is different? Is their train any less logical?
The malice is from the fact that he says he doesn’t care that everyone else wants to do the Steam Ogre after the FE. Purposely doing it to make others mad is bad form. If he did it, apologized to everyone, and promised not to ruin the train again, then I would be more forgiving.
Ah of course! Because they don’t conform to “the rules” their malice is obvious. Oh how foolish of me to be arguing from their perspective.
/sarcasm
Conversely, one could argue that everyone else is malicious because they want to do Ogre before FE and that people wanting to do it after is bad form. If other players did that, apologised to the guild and promised not to ruin their train again, the guild could be more forgiving.
(Bear in mind, I’m not arguing to be stubborn. I’m trying to make a point that always looking at it from the “majority” stand point while ignoring the minority is one of the big reasons why there is so much discontent in so many countries in the world. Sunni Muslims in Shia dominated countries, Shia muslims in Sunni dominated countries, Tibetans in China, Aboriginals in Australia, and so on)
To recap, the reason people were mad isn’t because they missed out on a minor Champ Bag. The main problem here is that trolls ruined the pattern of the run. Because of this, I haven’t touched the Steam Ogre in a while. I heard it was bugged, so I stopped going to FE. But now that I know why it was “bugged”, I’m upset, purely in principle.

@Azrael.4960, I acknowledge the fact that their are those would attempt to abuse macros. However, I am almost certain that Arena Net could detect this abuse in real-time through the packets of data that the client must to send to the servers in order to establish constant communications(which is required to play any MMO). Thus, these players could be punished for their actions in relevant time. Additionally, Arena Net could also detect any possible work-around these player may attempt to use to abuse the macro system without detection.
Perhaps so, but that requires putting resources into something that they wouldn’t otherwise need if a simple “No macros of any type allowed”. Certain macros are overlooked as long as they don’t give your character an unfair advantage over the other players.
That’s about as thin of an argument as players saying “I don’t want to WP when dead at Tequatl because I need that 2s for my legendary.”
That doesn’t apply here. Dead players who don’t WP are just trolls. If they WP or not, they still get the loot at the Teq kill.
How is OP (and their guild) beholden to the rest of the map?
Because it’s an unwritten rule that all players know about and have the honor to abide by. Steam Ogre comes after the FE kill. It’s been that way since we first discovered the Steam Ogre. To alter that is akin to moving Christmas to January.
That doesn’t change the question. They’re not beholden to the map any more than I am. Others may be sheep and follow along the “unwritten rule” but there has never been and should never be some arbitrary unenforceable rule that prevents players from playing how they want.
“You’re honour bound to do XYZ” No I am not and no they are not.
Macros of any stripe would be open for abuse. People like yourself may use them legitimately but there is without a doubt that there is a subset of people who would abuse them. It’s safer to completely close that Pandora’s box than to allow a peep.
I play with >200ms of latency because of my location relative to the server. I live with that fact and just adapt. I gave up WvW and never played pvp anyway. But I’ve still found enough to fill in my time in game
I added emphasis. Now I am back. But I don’t have access to content. I am asked to buy it like this was a DLC or something. That’s not right at all.
Yes I expected to miss on “ocasional event” (christmas, valentine, w/e). I didn’t expect to miss permanent content.
Imagine you played idk what MMO. You go away for a while. In the meantime they add a new map. When you come back you cannot access that new map unless you pay. This is garbage. That’s why I asked, why do I have access to the new PvP map then? I wasn’t active at that time, so I should be denied access if we are consistent. May I shouldn’t have access to the new traits either.
GW2 wasn’t supposed to be pay to play crap where you have to buy each patch like its some kind of stupid DLC.
An example for why it matters:
Imagine you are using Microsoft Windows. For some reason you don’t have access to your computer for while or chose to run Linux for a few months (the reason doesn’t matter at all. It is your choice.).
Now for some reason, you wanna go back to MS Windows. Sadly, you missed Service Pack 1 and a few other patches. This awesome patch added new features, fixed some bug, w/e. Wouldn’t you mind if you had to buy all those pacthes, one buy one, even tough you already bought your Windows licence a while ago? I would go crazy.
Actually. It is DLC. I’ve said it time and time again. Content costs money to develop. You know, little things like salaries, power, server maintenance, upgrades, and so on.
Imagine you’re in the automotive business and sold a car to someone. Some time down the track they come back and say
“I heard there are new rims out for my car. I want to upgrade rims, but I want it for free because I already own the car” or maybe
“I heard there are new tyres out for my car. I want to upgrade them but I want it for free because I already have the car”
Would you give it to them? Of course not. You’re running a business and it costs labour, parts, power, water and whatever else to do all that.
(edited by Azrael.4960)
That one missing Champ Bag could be the difference between getting an Exotic to MF for a Precursor, or having to spend 2 Gold on another Exotic. Tis a big deal to ruin the Boss train runs.
And if OP wouldn’t care about missing the Steam Ogre, then he shouldn’t care to wait another few minutes to do the event with the rest of the players on the map. /Logic
How is OP (and their guild) beholden to the rest of the map?
You ran from a skrit.
All of my THIS.
If skritt ever became a playable race, I have a vision of WvW. You’re there, running to your next objective, when you see an enemy player running by with every possible speed buff the game can muster. Then, just as you attempt to make chase, a wall of allied skritt players roll by, yelling “You ran from skritt!” and “You lose!”, while one stops, faces you, says “More come, yes?”, then rejoins the skrittpile.
Time to derail the thread with puns
- The skritt hit the fan for that player.
- Epic skrittstorm
- Kicking the skritt out of the player
Back on topic, the dredge in the tunnel fractal has an epic line
“It keeeeens in outrage……the vermin”
This.
From a talking mole rat.
And so with the kind words of a a couple of people who also don’t care what the map of players think, the OP will continue to grief the FE event. At least this confirms that this was a troll thread to get people upset.
Maybe a small group of us should time a Steam Ogre kill first, then OP can see how we feel about not adhering to their tight schedule.
Unlike the ragers, the OP and their guild probably wouldn’t care. They’d just move on to the next stage in their rotation and come back later.
Thing is that Steam ogre was never meant to be treated as a secondary loot pinata. It was meant to be part of the leveling experience in Metrica and as a challenge for newer characters in that zone. Anet may as well remove it now given how it’s treated and the toxicity raising. Queensdale 1.1 anyone?
It’s a bug. It’s a combination of a certain wintersday item (not saying which one so others won’t try it and blanket entire maps in golems) and the engineer’s slick shoes.
What they are doing isn’t even close to the definition of griefing.
If a team of 10 players purposely does something to prevent an event for the other 90 players on the map, that would be griefing.
The simplest fix is to just remove the timer from the Steam ogre.
Why people are foaming at the mouth at missing 1, not 10, not 4, 1 champ bag is beyond me.
What they’re doing is hardly griefing. They’re playing the game as it was intended. Hell, OP would be well within their rights to just open it for the guild, do the event and move on. They’re not beholden to the unwashed masses that abuse them for doing the event. When I’m doing exploration and come across champs, I announce to the map that any lowbie interested in getting the help of a lvl 80 char in taking down a champ should come to my tag. I considerately tag up and wait 5min.
Can I solo the champ? sure. Do I need to tag up and let people in on the loot? Nope.
OP or OP’s guildmate has gone to the trouble of getting the key ready for a steam ogre. How they choose to use it is entirely up to them. If it inconveniences a map full of people, don’t blame it on the OP, blame it Anet’s map design that locks out gate.
The Grizzlemouth ascended Trident is drool worthy. I’m a sad panda that I can’t use it on land
I’m renting a 30 slot server from a friend of mine for 50 British pounds for a year.

Taunt is just reverse fear, stop thinking of it as a tanking tool.
Fear allows you to stay ranged taunt allows close combat with agro focused on the player which is called tanking
This^
Denial is big on this forum.
Now I see why Anet keeps stuff secret now….
The enemy player or mob will be running towards you auto attacking while you dish out melee dps on them. It’s not tanking its control. Just as how fear pushes everything away from the point it was cast at, taunt is great for grouping up mobs for a burst. Taunt to pull the enemy in a whole on skyhammer (yup, that map will be even more annoying in regards to player positionning) You can pull someone off a stop right into your burst to down them, etc.
Why do so many people want to think of gw2 and make it fit in a trinity mould…
Yeah cause it’s not like Tanks do those things or anything….
Who was I fooling…
Silly me, let me boot up WoW or Wildstar, log on my tank and fill a DPS spot, after all, Tanks can do all that stuff according to you…
There isn’t really much point in trying to explain it to these people, they will just cover their ears and refuse to admit they are over-thinking things.
Pulling mobs to you already exists in this game, taunt is just another way to pull… thieves for instance can pull you in and by no means are they tanks….
Yeah, pretty much. I can definitely see where the new CC can be useful for specific encounters, but that’s really the way it is for all CC.
Well let’s call it a Controller, instead of Tank, since y’all so hurt by the word Tank, even though the Tank is a Controller.
So now we can play dedicated Controller.
Do you, or do you not, have a problem with that?
In what way are dazes, stuns, blinds, knockdowns, pulls, petrify, float, fear, launch, or ice block related to tanks at all?
It reduces damage to the Controller, same thing a Tank does. Tank has many tools to reduce damage. Otherwise they would be lumber for a fire somewhere.
Is thief now a tank because it uses scorpion wire to pull a foe? You’re trying too hard to link things together now.
Controlling a Mob AI and controlling its Damage-output makes a tank.
In Rift, a Mage, and Rogue can all tank. All classes can tank. Because they prevent damage to themselves and group, while controlling mobs AI.
Taunt in GW2 does just that!
And Guild Wars 2 isn’t Rift now, is it? ArenaNet has done many things non-traditionally, I don’t get why you think their versions of definitions is so shocking to you.
And many things that are traditional. Taunt being one of them.
I assume you had a point,Traditional taunt affects the threat meter, there is no indication at all that this one does. So no, it really isn’t. This has been explained so many times to you from various people.
I’m kinda waiting for the day when one of these so called “Tanks” fires off a Taunt and the mob comes running towards him, hits him twice, taunt ends and the mob runs off somewhere else. “Tank” is left standing there in their Nomad armour going “I’M RIGHT HERE! YOU’RE SUPPOSED TO BE HITTING ME! HOW DARE YOU RUN AWAY FROM ME!”
Well keep waiting, because Revenant has 6 second taunt….
Which will probably get nerfed once 5 man Rev parties start playing ping pong
#puglyf
Going into a Lava shaman fight on lvl 29. Guardian in the party and I ask him
Me: Are you packing WoR, SoA etc.?
PUG: “Just range him”
Me: “During shield phase?!”
PUG: “Just go range.”
kicked after 2 wipes. Bring on a ranger and a necro. First time pass
#puglyf
Going into a lava shaman lvl 22 with 2 eles. (I’ll need a bullet point list for this)
1. No might stacks at the start
2. No icebows during shield phase
3. Attacks elementals instead of shaman, while he has his shield up
4. Don’t wait for the other three of us to drop his defiance stacks so we can Ice bow 5 the shaman
5. One has 11k AP, the other has 15k AP.
Result wipe 4 times.
Kick both, bring a guildie and an engie with 4k AP. Vape the shaman in 1 run.

A good guild doesn’t demand 100% representation. It, by virtue of the sorts of members it has and the things it does, naturally encourages you to rep 100%. I’ve only ever been part of 1 guild at a time, especially since i’m an officer. It looks very bad on the guild, imo, if the officers aren’t repping. But the real reason is that I really enjoy being with my guild. They’re a fun lot and even though we aren’t all on the at the same time, when we are on we do a lot of stuff together, chat, help newbies do dungeons, fractals, events, map exploration and craft gear for them.
One of my guildies who is a newbie to the game reached 80 on their first character and needed exotic gear. One of the other officers was saying as I logged in that they would have crafted a set of medium armour for them but didn’t have a 400 leather worker. So seeing, I relogged my leatherworker and made a set and gifted it to them. The little things in game don’t mean much, they’re just pixels after all but the little gestures are what good guildies do for one another and bind the guild together.
Wow, really? Another one of these “I paid elsewhere for stuff so give me the expansion for free” threads?
Was Eye of the North free? I don’t believe so.
Sorry, (well, not really) the entitled attitude of so many players is staggering

Have you considered using your ring finger instead?
Sadly, both of those fingers’ tendons run to the same point in the elbow…
Interesting (not in a dismissive way). The only time I’ve gotten any pain of that sort is from holding down the buttonskeys for a prolonged period of time, but otherwise never. Perhaps it is to do with you’re holding your wrist relative to the keyboard? Do you rest it on anything? or do you hold it aloft? You might be able to solve that with a wrist rest or one of those gel pads. The other option is to put the keyboard further from your body so your arms are more outstretched and you’re resting on the desk. You may find you’re bending your arm and thus wrist at an awkward angle because your keyboard is too close to you?
Wintersday axe and fractal axe are my current faves
Others that are pretty good, for their simplicity
Truth, Tribal, Legionnaire’s, Zojja’s reaver, Flame cleaver, Guild broad axe
A Black Sword with Black flames XD or a simple black blade haha
We already got one, it’s called Eternity
I hate it
The only thing remotely related to housing that I would want is a place to bunk in the guild hall. A second level dorm or whatever.
The players are at war with dragons, the last thing one needs to worry about is what colour wall paper to put up
Changing the bind without being able to change the order makes for a very, very UN-intuitive interface. I agree with the OP – it’s absolutely maddening to be stuck with the same order. I’ve never played a game where I couldn’t move my skills around.
It’s simple – why not be able to go to your Weapon Skills page of your Hero panel and rearrange them?
Related to this: for Right-Handed players, the “1” key is pressed by the weakest fingers of the hand. Since spamming the the “1” key is so essential to GW2 gameplay, it has started to actually cause tendon pain in my elbow.
Easy solution: be able to move most-used skills to the “4” or “5” key where the stronger fingers are. And don’t tell me I can just “remap”. Of course I can, but then the skill icons on my UI make no sense with respect to my keyboard.
What’s the only game I can’t do that with? GW2
So what do I do? Play something else so my elbow doesn’t hurt. All because in those other games, I can simply move my skills around my bar.
That’s interesting. I use my left ring finger for hitting 1 because my pinkie isn’t long to reach it. It might be just the natural curl of my fingers but 1 falls exactly into the range of my ring finger when it fully extends, hence no problem with my elbow. Granted it makes for awkward combat at certain moments. For me, it’s largely to do with how I type. I rarely use my left pinkie for anything beyond LSHIFT or LCTRL so that’s probably why I have little problem in that regard.
Have you considered using your ring finger instead?
what is with people and death knights..
Commanded another Tequatl run last night and made certain to inform people that if they die they should go to the nearby Quaggan waypoint and run back. Most players who do Teq now understand the need for it, especially those in the frontal zergs. I think once players have gotten the swing of things that in world boss events like these, there just isn’t the time or opportunity for players to be ressed from dead. Eventually, players that just lie there waiting to be ressed while everyone is fighting end up just feeling embarrassed that they died and everyone else is still up and fighting. Better to just remove your pip from the map so that people aren’t just staring at you.
And i think that’s the psychology of it. When a number of players are dead, people don’t feel so bad about being just another of the dead but if you’re the only one lying there, your pip is the only one visible on the minimap and even though your name isn’t visible, the thought of all those other players just looking at your pip just lying there will make people move.
Perhaps, that’s the way to do it. Play on people’s psychology. When you go down, you only see your own pip on the mini map and none of the other dead. If players are fooled into thinking they’re the only one lying there, they may be more inclined to WP.
Been running a sinister armour/rabid trinkets packing Rabid Sceptre (Geomancer rune)/D(Malice rune) + Zerk D (air)/F(fire) with aristocrat runes hybrid power/condimancer. Sticking with 6/6/0/0/2 for now.
Considering whether to go pure sinister or stick with rabid trinkets for the extra toughness instead. Tears up husks and more than puts up a good fight when switching to the zerk weapons. Survivability, surprisingly good in the SW. Just need to remember to carry tuning crystals and condi duration food for that little bit extra. Using DS to gain might then switch back out to conditions to push up the damage per tick.
Not a bug.
Sounds like you got hit with the 15pt Air minor trait (http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Electric_Discharge), which can fire behind the Elementalist. The discharge then procced a superior sigil of fire, which shows up as a flame blast in your combat log. (The Staff fire3 flame burst skill does negligible power damage).
Is a bug mean doing something that is not suppose to do? It does not say any where in description of firing behind the elementalist? “Strike your target with a bolt of lightning when attuning to air”.
That is why i first did research to find out if the problem with elementalist firing behind was there before and if problem was there before, did arena net fix it.
If the ele has you targeted and attunes to air, then you will be struck by that effect, even if you are behind the ele. That’s what Azyume was getting at. The trait is working as intended. Also, as azyume said, the elementalist had Superior Sigil of Fire on one of their weapons and it triggered on the critical hit from Electric Discharge thus causing the extra fire blast damage
From an efficiency perspective, it really is jut plain faster to join the zerg and help fight your way into the POI’s/vistas. I’ve done it 3 times so far and each time, I just attached myself to the zerg or went scouting ahead of the zerg.
Zerging is particularly important for classes like Necros since they don’t have any escape skills.
Leave the POI’s vistas and SP’s until you’ve cleared all the ones in keeps and towers otherwise you’ll just be really frustrated
You’re why other players die at events such as Teq and THW. No one in this thread cares about shoddy farm events in places like weeniefail (I will never refer to the human starting area by it’s proper name). Most of us are talking about events where excessive numbers of dead people refusing to waypoint is actually detrimental to the event’s odds of success.
Good, I’m counting on it. If they refuse to take 5 seconds to res me from downed state, then they can die.
- Tequatl: takes 60 seconds WITHOUT swiftness and gap closers or jump pads to get back to the fight. 30 seconds or so if they were used. Too far away you say? Guess you wont get a res.
- Amber Wurm Head: 30 seconds without any movement assists. Half that with. Hard to see how that’s too far away.
- Cobalt Wurm Head: Basically the same as Amber. Still not too far away.
- Crimson Wurm Head: Bit longer than either of the others, but STILL not too far away.
- Breach: You die, waypoint. We dont have time to pick you up. EOD.
- Vinewrath: Sure, this one can be seen as “too far,” but even if on win/fail against the champions, if you die in the first 60 seconds, you arent being picked back up. Run your behind back from the waypoint, and you’ll be able to assist one of the other two lanes in their defense. Die outside the champ fights? I’d probably waypoint even then because the only way you’re getting picked up is if there’s enough people in your lane to take care of the defense and have some to spare to help rez people. If there isnt enough in the lane for that, you’re going to be sitting dead for quite a while. The only reason it’d be alright to stay dead and wait for a rez at vinewrath is if you died with less than 30 seconds to go on the champion fight. If it’s the final champ, you either get dumped outside your lane on a fail, stay there on a succeed, or everyone’s dead in the first place because you failed and had no more carriers.
In the context of Teq, THW, and Silverwastes, the phrase “waypoint is too far” is an excuse for the lazy.
vs. a 5 second res from down state.
I refuse to walk literally 60 seconds from the wp to the boss because the zerg doesn’t feel like ressing me. Another alternative if ANet add a wp 5 seconds away from the boss. Then I would wp.
(Probably gonna get an infraction for this but it’ll be worth it)
In case you forgot to read, we’re talking about defeated state not downed state. Commanders always tell people to res Downed players but not Defeated players. However, if you’re the sort of player that expects others to res you from defeated then I’ll make sure you’re on my list so I can tell people to look out for you in case you die and make sure you stay defeated, because when I’m commanding and I see people like yourself, there are only 2 words for it: Dead weight.
Another ridiculous thing is you can get a fractal spoon now (basically a middle finger at players when they see an exotic chest drop) worth 10s. An exotic piece of junk worth 10s compared to ascended rings worth less than 5s. I’d love to convert all my rings to Spoons and double the silver income from them.
I’ve always advocated for 4 rings into MF to make something. Maybe even something like
3 infused rings and 250 Pristine relics to make an accessory.
1000 fractal relics for a weapon skin of your choice.
1000 fractal relics + 250 pristine relics + 20g for an ascended box of your choice.
Pretty much every pug group I’ve been in more or less knows what to do in Mossman, Boomerlang (I love this) and Diviner. Ideally, the melee classes should rotate through range and melee if they’re playing sensible.
Personally, I never range Boomerlang, I just go Axe/Mace and smash my way through it. If I happen to be in an inexperienced pug group, I’ll usually be the only standing. Boomer rarely drops AOES right at his feet so being on him is actually the safest place to be. GS isn’t as good a choice because HB root leaves you vulnerable to AOE and interrupting it lowers your DPS.
Mossman has to be a mix of ranged and melee or he’ll murder your party with wolf spam.
Archidiviner same again, has to be melee and ranged.
I’m making my Asura a druid simply to create a massive clash of cultures.
Best way to do it is farm charged cores and upgrade to lodestones in the forge. Most reliable place for cores is Crucible of Eternity, although RNGesus may need a few prayers. Most of the cores I’ve amassed are from there.
First, I’d like a reskin of Bolt, but not likely of course. The lightning effect could do with a tweak. I have some ideas but that’s OTT.
I think profession related skins would be well worth the effort.
-A necro staff that looks suitably Necro-ish
-An elementalist staff that changes effect depending on your element. When using fire, a crackle of fire ignites and stays at the top and bottom of the staff (HODGIIIINS!); Air, a tornado blasts from the ground then settles into a swirling column of air surrounds the character. Water, a waterfall spirals a stream down the staff.
-Something like the Hammer of the Great Dwarf for Guards, Warrs and soon to be Engis, which causes an explosion of cracks to form in the ground when drawn. Has a special sound effect like the footfalls of hundreds of dwarves going to war.
-Daggers with a black lightning effect, that crackles up the arm of the wielder
-More Foci that strap to the arm, like The Anomaly, Chimeric Prism, which changes the projectile shape when fired, example Necro skill 4.
-A shield that looks like a cloud that wraps around your character, but solidifies when in combat and crackles with lightning
-A rifle that paints a cross hair on its target and fires a shot like an asura laser
Hi all! I’m relatively new to gw2. I’m not new to the mmo scene, and tend to hit my games pretty hardcore.
I’m going to be in a bit a slow rut while studying for a few exams, but in a couple weeks i should be able to pound farming and anything else needed.
I’d like to find out from you guys what your experiences in crafting legendaries has been.
How did you get it?(Paid, or crafted)
How long did it take you to gather the materials?
What method did you use to gather the materials?
How long did it take to craft you overall?
How often did you play during that time period?
Did you enjoy it?If you’d like to post something specific to what I am into, i am preferential to Greatswords, daggers, axes and bows.
Twilight and incinerator peak my interest the most
I’m looking to get hopefully varying feedback before i set off on my “legendary quest”, and grats to those who already got theirs!
1. Crafted mine. My pre dropped during the Southsun event, sat in my bank for about 6 months while I ummed and ahhed over where to make it.
2. About 9 months not really dedicating any serious focus to it. Had to level up the required crafting profs and acquire the gold for things like Icy Runestones and Recipes. Mind you I did this all before the glut of dungeon gold we have now, so farming gold from dungeons was out of the question.
3. I did it all the old fashioned way. Collecting mats in the field, up converting to T6, crafting exotics and selling them on the TP to gain gold, buying cores to create lodestones, that sort of thing. Back then I was TP noob so it cost me a lot more than it really needed to. Also I had many very generous guild mates who donated stuff
4. Probably a year since I wasn’t doing it seriously.
5. Pretty much every evening. But I hate dedicating my game time to a single task. This was something I liked about GW2. Everything I did contributed a little to the legendary.
6. It was ok I guess. It just sort of all fell together so when I finished it, it was more like “so what’s next?”
I recommend waiting for the expansion before setting off on your quest. You may end up seeing new skins you’ll like instead of the current generation
Maybe you should do the same when WvW ppl go to PVE to do map completion?
i think your kind of player is the exact problem here, if someone has to wait more then 1 minute for someone to res then guess who is really the problem here.
During an event like Teq or THW burn phase, its the person lying around completely down on the ground, the reasons have been explained ad nauseam above.
death happens, just because someone died and waits for someone to res doesn’t make them a leech, don’t think so negative about ppl and start ressing if it bothers you so much.
Yes and I do rez people in the open world if I happen to come across them, but that is not what I am talking about. The discussion was about people lying dead during events waiting for rez and those people who rez them are now not doing DPS. People should help the downed every time unless it will cause them to die during big bosses but not dead.
The FULLY DOWNED should have the consideration for the other players to WP and run back. This is something that really hasnt been brought up much this thread, is how inconsiderate those who sit around waiting for rez are being to everyone else who are contributing to the success of the event.
a dead player is a dead player, we have ress for a reason.
maybe i am one of the odd balls here but i actually help players get back up, it’s called cooperation, look it up when you feel generous for ones…..
Generosity is all well and good. I too race towards defeated players in the field. But try doing that in an event like Triple wurms. The event is structured around every available player pulling their weight. If you go down, people will rush you to get your back up but if you are defeated, you draw a minimum 2 players out of the fight because one is dead and one is ressing. That’s DPS and aggro that you’re losing. Every time someone is defeated in THW, they straight away WP, because they know that they risk drawing ppl away from the fight. Only during very small windows, right before the decap phase, will a commander tell people to res defeated players. If you’re not on the commander when the burn phase starts, you’re going to draw the wurm to you and that will screw the entire final phase and fail the event.
The actions of 1 lazy person can ruin the event for over 100 players.
I just make it a point to declare that during Tequatl, Silverwastes, etc. People should not be ressing the fulling dead and that the dead should WP and get back.
And that makes infinite sense to me.
Did you seriously just bless this?
You guys at ANet designed this game to be a team effort and took away dedicated Healers/Revivers and gave us ALL the ability to res each other to encourage Team Work.
Now you just threw everyone under the bus since now the “WP if you’re Dead/Don’t res the Dead” group can now say “ANet says so.”
I can not believe you did that.
It’s team work when players contribute to the success of the event. Is being dead and drawing players away from helping the event, when you could have popped to a way point and returned, called contributing? In the vast majority of cases, it is faster to WP and run back to the fight than waiting for someone to res you. Bearing in mind that running and ressing while in combat are significantly slowed down so the “noble soul” who comes to res you is running twice the risk of being taken down while they’re ressing the sorry form lying before them.
When you die in a major group event and you draw players away from it, you are contributing to its failure not success
I would recommend that you look at buying a laptop after you get to the UK. You’ll have access to a wider variety of product and cheaper too.
Thanks for the recommendation! I would be leaving in September, so I heard that the new Intel processors would be out by then.
However, because the currency in my country is pretty weak, everything over there is significantly more expensive ):
I presume you are getting a stipend from the government to study over there? I suggest doing some looking around to see what is available. I used to live in the UK so I can understand the worries. The biggest consumer electronics chain over there is PC World or Currys (same company) You can get an idea from their websites as to the cost of a laptop with game capable components
