shrugs it’s the way of RNG.

Examples
One of my guildmates has had 11 precursor drops, I’ve had 2, our guild leader has had 1. everyone else zero.

Another guild mate got enough ascended armour boxes in WvW to fit out her elementalist, in a week.

I got 3 different fractal skins in 5 runs

Meh they look silly and don’t even flap . sticking with my holo dragon wings

I’m so glad they don’t flap. I hate that the other wings flap even though I’m standing still and definitely not flying.

Which is a fair point, but if the black ones stay completely still regardless of what you do, then they still look weird. I would’ve like to have gotten the teq wings since I have a mini teq. he looks like a familiar flapping next to my necro. Having matching wings would have been nice thematically, despite my necro never having fought teq. My warr and ranger do that

Fractals:
I’d put my hand up for this. Fractals are still fun compared to other dungeons but could do with a boost, particularly on the rewards table.

Necros:
Necros are pretty limited in group utility but awesome in zerg utility in wvw. The upcoming changes to specialisations and stability could bring the necro to the fore in wvw especially. I’ll wait to see what specialisations bring.

Trench coats:
I personally prefer the trench coat over the skin tight out fits. If they brought out a few more interesting ones, I wouldn’t complain.

Pristine Fractal relics:
Definitely this. It’s weird that the rarer reward token in fractals has the least use.

Buff tab:
Don’t care about this so much since I use up mine with regularity

Outfits:
Not too fussed about this either since I don’t buy any of them but people do enjoy them so it’s not for you to say yay or nay

World bosses:
I’m a bit of two minds of this. The world bosses are loot pinatas already. I don’t really think they should do much more with legacy stuff like this except later on when they haven’t got bigger projects to work on.

Discounts:
That’d be seen as a blatant money grab from Anet and would cause significant community backlash

BL Skins:
BL Keys are a big money maker for them. There should be some sort of exclusiveness in the skins but it would be nice to get a key as a super rare drop every now and then

Mini:
Don’t care about these that much but wouldn’t be averse to them being in game.

Living Story behind gems:
It’s free if you log in during the 2 weeks. You have only yourself to blame if you miss out. You may want to think about that entitled attitude when you consider how much it costs to do development

Perma 25% buff (Mount)
No, no, no, no, no, no, no. No more of this mounts (or equivalent) garbage.

Precursor hunt
Waiting to see how HoT will do this

Waypoint favourites list:
This is just laziness and exploitable

Item note:
More laziness

Back pieces:
Some people like them, this is not for you to dictate.

Performance issues:
Might want to check your machine. I’m running a GTX760 on a Z97 mATX mobo with a i7 4790k (4GHz) CPU and16Gb ram and I have the settings on all high. I go from 60fps normal down to 25fps during Tequatl with 100+ players around me. That’s with all high settings

Mouse bug:
Haven’t come across that. Maybe it’s your mouse?

When I started playing at release, Behe was like this mystical beast that everyone was terrified of. There was none of this “downleveled” business so there were no lvl 80s to help. Behe used to slaughter everyone that came to fight him.

When I started playing, no one was able to do Shadow Behemoth because it would get bugged for days to weeks at a time.

Actually down-levelling has been in the game since at least the first open beta. It’s just that early on there were very few level 80’s and the type of people who rush to max level are not the type of people who then go back to do events in starter zones.

I know that downscaling was always present, what I meant was that, that early on in the game, no one had reached level 80 yet so everyone that faced Behe back then were at the level of the map.

Rata Sum should be expanded if anything else. It’s going to be the next big hub given the war in the western jungles.

I’d actually want to see some sort of evolution in the other cities that coincides with the events that are occurring in the game.

From an in-story military perspective, the last thing you’d want to do is have long supply lines. Sure, personnel can jump between way points but supplies must use the gates. As it stands, anything being supplier to Camp Resolve would either come in by air or overland. Conceivably, all supplies could be routed through LA from the various cities and then cross into Rata Sum before making the overland trip to the Brisban Wildlands. This makes no practical sense. Given the space in Rata Sum, at least 1 more portal should be opened up so you can go from there to at least Camp Resolve. (I am keeping in mind the need of the gold sink that is WP fees)

The same happened with Fire Elemental. 40+ players would go fight him and he’d kill them all.

I kinda wish this would happen again. Claw of Jormag is a slow loot pinata. Tequatl and Triple Wurms are challenging but more in the sense that the time limit causes the failure rather than the boss himself. I’m looking forward to HoT to see what new lvl 80 (or higher?) bosses will be like. Fighting something that is strong enough to slaughter an army of lvl 80 players with interesting mechanics will be fun

Strangely, while I have huge nostalgia over GW1, every bit of that nostalgia really comes from things that were just not well thought out. Things like Frenzied Defense + Healing Signet + Vow of Silence or Melandru’s Resiliance + Foul Feast. Or, for the two-man combo, Arcane Langour + Equinox exhaustion-locking the entire defending team in Fort Aspenwood. All of these were frankly not good for the game, but they were immensely fun.

Guild Wars 2 is the better game for gameplay, but I won’t pretend it’s perfect. I have fond memories of GW1, but they ironically, are not for the good stuff in the game.

Stability Change Clarification

This should make things interesting in WvW. Although I see some sentiment that the bigger the blob the better the survivability of the masses, but I see it as which ever side has more necros and mesmers will come out on top. Two zergs meet and whoever can lay down the heaviest boon stripping and corruption fields will win out. Engineers will definitely see more use in WvW and will pull the meta away from the GWEN we’ve been seeing for the last couple years.

I would expect that open field engagements won’t be a quick burst of action and one side breaks the other. Zergs would have to be very careful about how they engage and hoard their stability stacks and boon corruption fields. I could also see more skilful play with Lightning fields (Static field, Tornado, Elixir X) with Leap finishers to get the Daze
to strip stab stacks.

Ele drops a static field on a few enemy players, they pop stabs, warrs switch to swords and Savage Leap, Rangers could switch to GS and Swoop, etc.

I can kinda understand the worries for wvw but I think players will adapt and rather than seeing even bigger zerg fests, we may see less in fact.

breach/vw and the "fault" of the new players

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Azrael.4960

I command VW and breach quite regularly often going between breach champs depending on where I happen to be. The ones I’ve spent most time on is Copper Husk and I’ll normally be the one which jumps into the area and draws Copper’s aggro to keep him away from the bubbles. While I do that I tell the safe spot campers to AOE the bubbles down.
During VW, I’ll often command middle or bottom. I’ve usually found that people are most responsive with short simple commands.

“At start, pls get siege up and man it”
“Champ on me”
“Watch for rear spawns.”

I’ve gone down myself a few times and the best way to encourage people to way point is if the commanders do it themselves when they go down. I’ve often ended up leading a mob running back to VW.

It doesn’t matter who goes down, whether they’re a newb or a vet. If you’re dead, you’re not contributing. If you draw someone out of the fight to res you while you’re dead, you’re contributing to its failure. I make sure to point that out and I’ve had far more successful runs than not.

The other thing that invalidates a comparison beyween D3 and GW2 s that buying the gear in d3 gave you a substantial in game advantage over other players in that you would be able to plqy at the higher levels of the game. In effect you had access to the levels where the best loot was thus allowing you to confer on yourself a monetary advantage through the outlay of real life cash over those who did not pay.

You can pay money to get you the gold to buy the stuff to make your ascended armour but that conferred no advantage over those players who didn’t because they are still able to make their ascended armour just at a slower rate.

I did wvw completion on a t8 server before I transferred. That was on my warrior. Wasnt so hard deapite being down thay far. Luckily my then server was top of tier 8 so getting that wasnt so hard. Was a bit mire challenging when I tried it with my ranger. And my thief I finished in a tier 3 server. At least there I can just stealth everywhere. Its gonna be a real challenge to complete it in my necro. I been doing it here and there when I can. At least a necro can join a blob and fight into the point. I got most of wvw done like that. Joined a zerg and stormed the posts. For other skill points and pois it’s just a matter of running smsmart. I also used it as an opportunity to scout for the main blob, particularly when the fighting commanders are online. They always appreciate info from outriders. If you try to solo wvw it’s doable but not quite as much fun. Contributing a little to the server effort while doing so is by itself pretty rewarding. In my eyes anyway

Personally, I calculate roughly how many Exotic lucks I need to raise 1 % then click that many once I’ve got them. At this point, that’s about 60 since I need about 12,000 points to make 1%. I also have really good fast twitch muscles, so performing 120 clicks takes about 10 seconds.

That being said, a use all on luck wouldn’t be a bad thing though.

Otherwise, I suggest just opening things as they come rather than wait :p

I really hope they allow us to lower the fireworks shows.
At the moment it’s really hard to even see the enemy under all the light effects. I just don’t understand how do people see the hints of special attacks that need to be dodged, when I can’t even see the mob.

I sympathise with that. Big events would be every epileptics nightmare. For me, it’s not about seeing the attacks, it’s know how the mob time their attacks. After a while, you get to know around about the right time to do a dodge or pop a block. It’s not 100% fool proof but I catch about 80% of the attacks by knowing the timings between attacks. It doesn’t matter what they throw, as long as they attack, I’ll at least be dodging something. If they don’t and I’m out by a few seconds, I’ve got a chance to reposition.

Wow, and here I thought I was short of bank space with 5 lvl 80 chars…(Don’t even want to think about those altoholics)

Shifted, if you can, screenshot and upload your bank tab so ppl can see what you can do about space.

Yes, you can farm for gold to convert to gems to buy bank tabs. It’s 600 gems for a new tab IIRC. That’d be between 50-60g if I’m not mistaken (no access to game atm so someone pls correct me if I’m short).

But best policy is to have better inventory management. With 5 lvl 80s, 4 of which I play regularly, I use the 5th as a mule to carry extra stuff. The other 4 all carry the extra armour and weapons needed for general adventuring as well as harvest tools and salvage kits. A personal guild for bank purposes is a common solution, but you’ll need to invest some gold to get the influence for the bank tab.

Sometimes I’ve been able to feed mawdrey, and the star, a full stack even if I’ve fed them the day before.

Does it randomise between 4-5 loads of 50? I did notice I could feed a full stack, but it doesn’t seem consistent.

Yep, must agree that on the outfits thing. Never bought an outfit nor will I ever. Having the same look as everyone else makes for a bland landscape. Every one of my characters are fitted out in mixed armour to an aesthetic that suits my eye. I constantly poke about in the armour locker looking for different combinations of armours that would suit my character, then plan ahead on doing some world explo for charges. Sure, it’ll take a while to get all the charges for a full suit change, but I’m patient.

Also, I think the point is that a lot of the newer releases have been outfits over armours. The total number of outfits vs armours is lower but the trend has been outfits over full suits of armour or at most armour pieces that are released in 1’s or 2’s. The Scarlet shoulders and gloves, Dragon helm, shoulders and gloves, Lawless boots and gloves are examples. We’ve not seen a full gem store armour suit in a while but granted we did get the carapace and luminescent sets. Not such a huge fan of the glowy armour but the carapace set is very nice indeed. Been using pieces of it here and there on my warr, thief and necro.

If you’re playing mostly PVE, then pure power, pure condition and the hybrid power/condimancer is the usual way of going about it. For dungeons it’s powermancer usually. Solo roaming on a conditionmancer is doable if slow. Hybrids are more fun as you can tweak it to your style.

Necros hold a special place in WvW where their boon stripping abilities are always sought after. A few well placed necros armed with wells and/or marks and boom that’s all your enemy’s buffs gone. Furthermore, their access to Fear makes them excellent at zerg disruption. Watch the enemy for when their stability is stripped then bam, drop a fear bomb and watch the hammer train disintegrate.

I’m just keeping ahead of the bloodstone and empyreal intake by sending them to Mawdrey and the Star of Gratitude. Being able to get rid of 200 of each every day is a blessing in disguise. I’m totally hanging out for a dragonite eater. I throw out a stack pretty much every night. I used to convert them to ingots as soon as I hit 200 but I’ve not got a big buffer of ingots to make vision crystals so I’ve got a lovely surplus to feed my eaters.

I’ve been doing a lot of silverwastes and hardly any of the WB’s anymore because they’re just not interesting any more. At least in SW there is a chance at failing the event that makes us pug-manders try that much harder to herd it towards success. Naturally the result of that is more dust, more fragments and more ore >.<

I’ll likely make a second revenant which will be a human male with the generic revenant armor set, a dashing young face and clean shave (can’t stand all the Orlando Bloom facial hairs that people like to take). Figure he can be my GW1 ritualist’s descendant.

Any more depth to the roleplay doesn’t really exist.

That’s the nature of the TP.

A while back when I had very little in the way of gold, probably about 100 or so, but a lot of assets (materials etc) probably around a few hundred G worth, I decided to make an exotic skin and sell it. So I made Titan’s Vengeance, bought a few more mats investing another 10 or so G into it and popped it into the TP for 100g which would net me about 70g profit, since I had all the mats to make it. Watched the price drop down to 90g then 85g.

Now, I had 2 options much like you do.

  1. Pull it out, sell at a lower price and absorb the loss
  2. Keep it on the TP and wait

I went for #2 because the movement of such an item is going to be very slow, and even slower for a legendary, as they are high value, high margin, low quantity items. After about 3 weeks sitting there, the higher orders whittled away until it finally sold. Patience won out.
I did the same for an Azurite Orichalcum amulet which go for between 35-40g mainly because of the rarity of the orbs. Again, I waited out about 2 weeks before the order sold. I sold it for 39g50 but it had dropped as far as 33g.

It can be hard watching a very high value order sitting there tying up gold, especially so for legendaries. You probably set your price point too high especially with HoT precursors coming. Legendaries and Precursor movement will be substantial in the coming months as people try to off load their stock before craftable and collectible pres arrive.
