So far, Anet has done an amazing job at bringing what’s cool in solo games into an MMO. But it’s also done a great job at removing the good things that were already included in the genre…

I don`t think you could get any more accurate then that.

A free trial would open the door up to whole lot of gold seller spammers. They would keep making new accounts to send mails and clog map chat. No thanks, the gold emails everyday have finally stopped.

For the player that loves minimal time and effort into getting to max lvl and getting endgame gear, this game is like a paradise. Every person that begged guildess to powerlvl them and give them free gear in past games is probably in their glory playing gw2 in it`s current state. Who wouldn`t love hitting 80 after a week or two and have full exotics by the third week? Well , it all sounded awsome and different at first , but now what?

Useless cultural armors

Then it wouldn’t be cultural would it ?

Sure it would. Cultural only mean it`s created by a certain people. They just went a step further and made it only race exclusive. I could go to Holland and buy wooden shoes but they wouldn`t be equippable because I wasn`t born there, or the merchants would just tell me the shoes are only for the natives.

A good fix for this would be for warriors to have the banners stick to their backs like the samuri used to have flags. So you summon your banner and it pops onto your back and gives an aoe effect around you and you never have to worry about having to pick it, put it down, or people taking it.

Ideas to fix the Scepter

If they ever sped up the scepters projectiles, expect another damage reduction to the weapon. They already reduced it`s damage by roughly 1/3 then what it was since headstart. They did increase it`s range a little too. But for faster projectiles the attack speed and or damage would get slowed or reduced quite a bit.

Not necessarily. Damage is just one (of many) ways to balance skills. Increasing the speed, but slowing down the cast-animation (or even giving it a short cast-time), would also work.

Isn`t that what my last sentence says in different words?

So if they had an advancment exchange where you could spend like 5 skillpoints for 1 additional trait point after lvl 80 it would be kind of neat.

Please no.

Just curious for arguments sake. How exactly would that effect you in a negative way? You lvl up after 80 and get skill points anyway, why not put them to use. It`s not like the game forces you to spend trait points.

Now I could understand for the pvp people who don`t want to invest time and get the extra exp for the extra points. But the pvp could be locked at the 70 points so everyone is on the same field. What would it matter to you if people in pve wanted something else to work towards? I would just like to know.

I thought in the future it might be possible to continue building your traits up. Once you hit 80 you keep getting skillpoints. So if they had an advancment exchange where you could spend like 5 skillpoints for 1 additional trait point after lvl 80 it would be kind of neat.

But yeah, if you got an extra 10 trait points I imagine they would consider you to have too many options to get a stronger template. Not that it really matters. I don`t see anyone being able to solo dungeons anytime soon.

Yeah but even if passwords were stolen. They could see that the original user of the account is based in the US or Canada or whatever, and when they monitor the bot activity and see the user online then is from Bejing or any other part of the world then it`s a dead givaway. Disable the account and send the owner an email and either help him restructure his account and password or have him contact Anet. I think if someone reported a hacked or stolen account they would probably disable it to beginwith until the issue was settled.

But I report at least 12-20 bots a night. Most are the same ones that are perma camped in areas and some are new ones I have caught. On Anvil Rock there is probably more bots then actual players in close to every zone you go to. At least it feels that way. People don`t even use landmarks or waypoints for directions. They just say, over there, go left and when you see the group of ranger bots, turn right.

What I don`t understand is. Every bot or gold seller has to spend 60 bucks to access the game. If they get banned wouldn`t they have to spend another 60 bucks to get back into the game again? Are there that many people buying gold that these bot companies can keep affording to pay 60 bucks per shot everytime they get one of the bots banned? They must be making a fortune to be able to stay in buisness.

Harvesting tools

Banewrath.5107

I myself don`t mind carrying all the different tier tools around. But since I am a crafter and I don`t always stay on the orr maps. Sometimes i like to adventure in lower lvl areas and I will harvest what is there too. I just don`t like having to keep switching my tools back and fourth for every different zone I go to. Can`t tell you how many times I`ve run up to an ori ore or tree and started tapping it with an iron tool.

Anet really could have done us a solid if they only had one tool for each harvesting class. I really don`t see the need for having multiple lvls of tools to be able harvest. Now I don`t see Anet making one tool with a durability tracker on it. I could see them attaching a script to nodes since it would be super easy to do. It would be like

begin miningscript
beginonactivate
check lvl of node
checkplayersinventoryfortools
consumecorrettool OR consumenexthighesttool
end script

Now this isn`t the engines script commands but just an example of how easy it could be done. If you ever played the fallout games and did any modding with scripts, you would see how insane easy it would be to add a 5 minute script to all the nodes and make it happen. This is alot easier then figuring out cost vs amount of allowable harvests for a tool. Either system would be ok with me.

I really fail to see your way of thinking. What does an aoe block or aoe prot have to do with beliefs? One blocks damage , one reduces it. Both protect allies as well as yourself. You can still use protection on yourself when there aren`t any other players around.

If someone takes a swing at you, and I put my shield inbetween you and the swing. Do you still get hurt? Did I not just protect you from harm?

How exactly is an aoe block personal protection? Would function juat as the protection buff does bit would block damage instead and hit whoever is close to the player. If blocking damage for your party or nearby players isn`t protecting them from harm then I don`t know what is.

There is no “server” with gold, trading post is global.

Also, why are you mining mithril in orr, you should be looking for orihalcon, omnomberries and other tier 6 materials.

Because the tier 6 nodes are few and far between. Mithril and elder wood is everywhere you look, why not take it if it`s there.

15-30 minutes a day is enough to give you 2.50-3g with litte effort, this is by just mining 10 simple nodes in Orr.
.

I`d love to know what server you are on that you are getting so rich doing this with. Mithril is only fetching 20 copper a shot and ori is only getting 2-3 silver a shot on anvil rock. The woods are getting the same prices too. Nobody wants cooking mats unless they are the omnomberries and they are only fetching 1.5 silver a shot. You would need to be farming alot more then 30 minutes to get enough mats together to make 2-3 gold.

Why are a lot of gamers unsociable?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Banewrath.5107

Banewrath.5107

I think it because over the past few years games have become easier to advance in. It`s not like it was in the old days with eq where it took a year to lvl to 60. Now you can hit cap in most of the newer games within a month and playing solo to boot. You really don`t need to rely on people in the same ways you had to before when you had to have a group. People complained about not being able to solo and now everything aside from dungeons and certain events can mostly be done solo. So with this trend in gaming being so fast people are forgetting the purpose of what an mmo is supposed to be about, playing with other people. Sure I have 30 other players on my screen helping me do this event, but it`s not the same as it used to be.

I would rather have 1 tool with durability meter and depending on what thing you mine/chop/gather it will reduce its durability accordingly. Let’s say a 150 Durability would be ok Some plants will take 5 durability in one gather, other will just take 1, 2, 3

That`s a good idea Ronah. I like that idea as well. Would free up some bag space too.
After some thinking on it though I wonder what the price of the tool would cost? If one one pick could mine every ore with a durability meter with lesser tiers taking less durabilty then higher ones. I think the tool would cost about the same as the ori tools. Then you have to take into consideration if you are getting enough hits out of the tool to justify the price. Then also consider newer players would never be able to afford 4-5 silver for a harvesting tool when they start the game.

I like the idea alot. But I think alot of thought would have to go into how it could be made useful for everyone.

Right now as it is I carry almost a full bag of harvesting tools from copper to ori. I don`t know how many times I have went to a node to harvest and find I had the wrong tool equipped and got ruined fibers, plants, or ores. Normally I am top of that kind of thing but once in awhile you slip up.

I think a decent idea would be to have the nodes you mine autodetect what appropriate tool is needed and consume those. So if I run up to a copper node with an ori pick and start tapping it, the node will see I have copper picks in my inventory and consume those instead of the ori picks. Might be able to be done with an attached script on the nodes or tools themselves, I`m not sure. But would sure would make it less of a headache constantly opening your inventory and checking to see what tools are equipped everytime you approach a node.

set buy orders minimum price to vendor value

in Suggestions

If you sell for vendor price , the person selling is actually losing money. He would be better off just selling it to a vendor. I too though have seen alot of items being ordered for 1copper. Stuff like mithril dowels and insignias and various other crafting items. Also alot of green drops are being ordered for 1 copper as well. I think the people making the orders are hoping they just get someone to make a missclick and sell by accident since once something is sold like that it really can`t be disputed since you have click ok for it to go through. I myself have sold a couple things on accident for lower then vendor value and I think this is what they are counting on to happen.

And how exactly is he gonna settle it with the other guy? He will just be put on the thiefs block list. If someone is downright dishonest in a game and does something to cheat someone out of something, then he should be banned. Even moreso if they had an agreement and screenshots were taken as proof just in case something like this should ever happen. I don`t think Anet wants dishonest thieving people ruining the game for other people, so I think they will make it a policy to step in and take care of buisness. They don`t want a population like that to grow where people think it`s ok they can cheat and scam and get away with it.

If you have screenshots of the conversation where you both agree to a trade through the mail, then it isn`t hard to see that the guy got shafted. The only reason they don`t have trade in the game is because they want to monitor everything easilly and control it. Having a no trade system makes it very difficult for gold sellers to move gold from player to player. They can scan ingame mails to detect what`s attached and view the relationship history between the two involved to make it even harder on gold sellers.

You should get your coin back and the thief should be banned.

The bots have thier day coming. Once they confirm that all reported are indeed bots, it`s gonna be glorious. No more seeing half a dozen naked rangers teleporting around and camping all the good mat farming spots. I actually trained a vet onto one last week about 3x and watched it die. Then it dissapeared and about a minute later another one came to take it`s place and about a minute after that the original was back and they resumed the deal. I tried training the vet on them again but the two of them were strong enough to kill it. They are still in the same spot as I write this too.

I remember in dark age of camelot we could hit the T key and it would illuminate you a good bit to where you could see where you were going or what you were doing. I have tried holding a regular torch weapon for a light source and that don`t even make a very big difference. I`d like to see some kind of lighting aid you could toggle that had a slightly larger area then the normal torch but at like 2-3x the brightness. And please don`t make it any kind of flickering or wavering type of light source. That just hurts your eyes even more.

From what I understand. HP was better in the beta builds. But since it was working a little too good they reduced it`s effectivness. They want you to dodge instead of heal through damage. Too much healing ability makes the game too easy. I think if they ever did increase the power of HP, they would enable every single mob in the game the ability to one shot you so you couldn`t take such advantages of the HP bonus.

I wouldn`t even bother with crafting on your first character. After I got to 80 and played for awhile I decided to make another character and dedicate that one to smithing. I farmed all the mats which took forever since the antifarm sticks it right up your kitten everytime. You will find everything you need on the tp for cheaper gearwise. Just save all the mats you aquire so when you do decide to start crafting seriously you will have a good foundation to start with.

Well, more variety and playstles for starters. I like playing a guardian as a knight in shing armor type. I `m sure there are people who like the holy monk type. With your way of thinking we allready have every class we will ever need so why bother adding more in the future. We won`t need assasins, ritualists, paragons, dervishes, or any other class that could make the game more fun to play. You are probably right though. keep it as it is for the duration of game. I can`t imagine why anyone would want to play anything different then what we allready have.

You’re the one who said, “It would really be no different then any other class except his heals would be a little better then everyone elses and he would probably benefit the most from healing power.”

Really no different. Those were your words.

Yeah it would really be no different in forms of general gameplay because he will have to be able to kill, heal , and support. Just like all the current classes. He will just go about in a monks way. A different playstyle. If you think a slight healing power bonus like 2% or so is gonna break the game then i don`t know what to tell you. You have any idea how much healing power you need to stack for it to be worth sacrificing another stat for? I really don`t think you do.

So your defining characteristic of a class is a 2% bonus to healing power?

His differences would be his skills, equipment, and how he would kill, heal, and support. The monk wont be swinging greatswords or hammers. He won`t be using a shield and a sword. He wont be wearing heavy plate. Light armor, caster weapons or pure hand to hand weapons would be his setup . He would have a 2% bonus or however much to healing power just because it would be called a monk.

But I imagine the class being able to heal and support when needed and still be able to lay the beatdown while doing it. Just because one class is able to do one thing don`t mean that`s the only class that is allowed to ever do that.

Human Male Voice— John Cleese or Johnny Deps Jack sparrow voice can`t decide
Human Female Voice—

Male Tree People—Sylvester Stallone, the Stallone from the original Rocky Haha could you imagine Trehearne talking with illiterate rocky doing his dialogue!
Female Tree People—Charrow not sure how you spell it. But the old latin actress that would talk real fast in spanish.

I`m pretty sure all the classes have the ability to trait in healing power so that really doesn`t matter. His base bonus from healing power would be a certain % above the the class that currently has the highest base bonus. He would also be wearing cloth armor and not using swords or shields. Hand to hand weapons and kicks would probably be his main use of melee while he used a staff or focused energy for ranged attacks. He would have the ability to heal, he would have the ability to to give a beatdown, and he would have supportive type abilites like everyone else has but more in line with a monks style.

That don`t make him needed for any content as we can do pretty much anything without him this far. It would just be another class added that does things a little different with a playstyle unique to his own like the other classes have. Nothing he would have would turn the game into a trinity system or require groups to absolutely need one to complete a dungoen.

-Ranger with healing spring is one of the best team healing skill.
-Necromancer with Well of Blood.
-Engineer with healing turret or bandage kit.
-You can stealth allies and they will get regen under stealth as thief if traited.
-There are Mesmer traits that allows you to shatter clones to heal allies.

Every single profession can be a healing based profession if you create your build correctly. If you play correctly, you can save your teammates from death using those healing skills.

Agreed. So what would be the harm in adding one more class to the game that can do everything else everyone else can do but a little differently?

Because what you’re asking for is a dedicated healer class that does nothing else but watches red bar beyond anything else and depends on his team to keep everything off him.

Do you know why the Cleric aka “healer” in Dungeons and Dragons wears mail armour? because hes designed first and foremost to kill in the frontline. Thats what the guardian does.

Dedicated healers are not the goal of Anet and its game mechanics.

Clerics in dnd wear plate btw last time I played. And I asked nothing of the sort for any dedicated healing class. You could add a monk to the game that kills with magic or mace or whatever and it can still have good healing potential just like any other class. Though because it is a monk it`s benefit from +healing would be alittle better then everyone else. That in no way makes him a dedicated healer or brings the trinity back anymore then a guardian does. The monk would just go about it a little differently.

A little differently as in be more focused on healing stuff?

Yeah no, the guardian does that just fine and often when guardians do that and sacrifice all their dps, teams start dying in dungeons.

As I said before, this game is not about one person carrying the entire team, its about the entire teams ability to work together in negating damage and eliminating damage source.

Do you really think someone like a monk is any good in Gigantus Lupicus’(mid boss of arah) second phase where he shoots AOE all around that almost kills people?

A proper team in this match up would be so spread out that you cant target another player in your range, having someone like you suggest means being close to each other, you know what happens when you cluster for his second phase?

WIPE

His second phase depends on your ability to dodge his red circles and DPS to bring his HP down, not on some guy who wants to fix your wounds and 5 people focused on this aspect > 4 people and one guy too far to heal anyone else.

The way of the monk and assassins are over.

For some odd reason you keep thinking I want the monk to be a full time healing class in the game. You probably read all the posts I made in this topic and completely misunderstood every single one of them because you read only what you wanted to see. So I will explain this one last time so you can understand. Even then you probably won`t.

A monk could be added to the game for people who like that type of character. the monk will be able to survive and deal damage like everyone else. He will have heals like everyone else but he will have slightly higher healing power bonus because of the fact he is a monk. That don`t make him the dedicated healer of the game. It makes him another class for people to play that supports allies in different ways then the current classes do. What`s wrong with that? Why is everyone so against variety? Because technically, we allready have every class we could possibly need for the game. Does that mean we don`t need or want something later on down the road to change things up and try different things?

Shields are amazing

The 90 toughness trait now also reduces you shields cooldowns to a more reasonable timer. Still long but better then it was.
