Honestly it would be sad. Part of the beauty of this whole ordeal is partially represented by the unique weapon each class can have for elites.
I don’t see like that, sure it is nice some uniqueness, but also force new weapons just for the sake of being unique is a bad way of think.
Like Druid may get a mid/long range support skills staff while Thief elite get a melee AoE high sustain DPS Staff, same weapon but totally different game play.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Yeah, that is quite annoying, now I have those bags spread among several toons, some day I’ll leave the lobby to open them all in one go.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
That picture looks like a thief with a staff.
Yes, that is what we are speculating now, and that elite spec weapons won’t be exclusive to each one, like it may be possible that Druid and thief elite spec will get staff and Chronomancer and rev elite spec will get shield.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Indigo, my apologies if I wasn’t clear. I was referring to this being the framework for the elite specs to become full on viable professions by allowing you to have more weapons, skills, etc. in the future. Say for example they release a new weapon (set) for each one… a druid with a scepter/war horn or whatever. They add another handful of utilities. Things of this nature. It’s possible.
Oh, that is what you meant?
Then no, it is not how elite spec works.
What may happen in the future is a new elite spec, lets get the Commando in your example, and that get yet another weapon and skills so a ranger can get Druid (staff + set of skills) or Commando (rifle + another skills) for example, but not add more weapon and skills to previous elite spec.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Piggy back only work for you to see the story, you won’t get the rewards and for the achieves you also need to have finished the story, so yeah, you need to buy it to be able to do get the bio set.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Yes, Revenants will also get a full elite specialization, so yeah it is virtually 10 new professions.
Yes, devs said that with that new system they can easily add new elite specializations in the future.
Yes you don’t need to make several rangers to be a druid and later be a commando, following your example, you can change it as you please.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
So, you are complaining that time passed and the price of the thing you own is lower now after 3 years, you must be new to this world.
Everything you bought in the past now cost less.
Last year I bought The Witcher 2 for 5$ and got a DLC armor for free, I’m sure that the Projekt RED market forgot about the veterans and stabbed their loyal fans that bought the game on release …
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Weird, I was the opposite with Wicked Rodeo, I tried some times with a group and failed, after a few tries solo I did it.
But still, I read a few topics in the past about playing having trouble finishing the story step, let alone the achievement, so player skill changes a lot, but sadly the players that can’t do the achievements also want the final rewards by other means and that makes no sense imo.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Let the list begin:
Male Norn Ranger: Bardy Belzebuson
Bardy is my RL last name and Belzebuson is a reference to my GW1 main and also my account name
Female Norn Mesmer: Valkiria Ravenkin
Valkiria is Valkyrie with a more portuguese spelling twist, Ravenkin is a nordic way to say that she is devote of the raven spirit.
Male Asura Thief: Barddy
Well … it is just my last name with an extra “d” to fit the asura name convention.
Female Asura Engineer: Oogah
That is quite nice, I tried to name her like the GW1 asura Oola and of course it was taken, then I changed the “l” for “g” and it was also taken, so I added a “h” in the end and there is it.
Male Sylvari Elementalist: Baridy
I read somewhere that Barid is Bard in celtic so I just added an “y” in the end to fit the Sylvari name convention and also resemble my last name.
Female Sylvari Guardian: Bardine
I was lacking creativity and just made a female version of Bardy
Male Charr Warrior: Belz Ironsoul
Belz is part of Belzebu and sound roman enough imo, and since my warrior is from the Iron Legion Ironsoul fit the name convention nicely.
Female Human Necromancer: Raquel Bardy
Well … this one is also quite interesting, my RL name is Rodrigo Bardy and my mother said that they picked my name before they knew what sex I would be when she was pregnant so they picked 1 male and 1 female name, Raquel Bardy would have been my name if I was born female
Male Human Guardian: Ahiru Darkwing
This is my placeholder for a tengu name and also my silver doubloon farmer, Ahiru is duck in Japanese, and tengu name convention is usually <Short Japenese name> <Avian part + Adjective> so I made a reference to Darkwing Duck
Those are my toons.

Sadly no, all you can do is try to relate in your mind some skill CDs with the rune/sigil CD.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Exactly.
If your monitor is refreshing the image @60 Hz but the source is giving more images some times the monitor will show 1 frame and then the next one the monitor will show is actually 3 or more frames later and that is what is called screen tearing.
That is what vsync correct.

Besides guild hall, what else make socialization and group organization kinda mandatory?
So far all I see is content that can be done just by being in the middle of the large group.CJ has said you can “pug” guild halls. People doing the event do not have to be part of your guild to do it. So not even that is “mandatory”.
The fight to conquer the guild hall is the smallest of the features in there, maintain and upgrade the GH is the main stuff and that requires collaboration among the guild members and a minimal of social interaction.

I really doubt that ANet will kill any of the DE characters.Snaff would beg to differ…

A: No

Well, from that link the ascended LB is for sure the Dragonhunter LB, the ascended greatsword is the Reaper GS, so the chances of the war horn be the weapon of an elite specialization is high, specially one called Tempest.
BTW, I also wish to use sword with my ele, and Tempest was one of my favorite D&D 3.5 prestige class.

Only snaff died.
No one else so far.
Yup, can’t argue with that.

You’ll be able to see it when you get a glider, and that will only be available when HoT launches and probably at betas too.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
If in PvE you play more open world then keep the exotic but if you are more focused in dungeons then ascended may be better, otherwise go for the WvW gear.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Save builds is something Anet knows that players want badly, but I read somewhere that it isn’t as easy as it were in GW1, but yeah we all want that.
Also, with the last update they gave a good step into “saving builds”, traits you change in WvW will be saved when you come back to WvW later, so you can make a PvP, PvP and WvW builds and they will stay saved.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
It is not obvious that Eir is dead, Braham may find her bow and think that she is dead.
Canach is far from being in the DE, he is closer to be part of the “DE 2.0”.
I really doubt that ANet will kill any of the DE characters.

I know that SteamOS users are pretty much 100% gamers (if not 100%), and still how many won’t have access at all to Windows? Also many Steam users aren’t MMO players, from the MMO players how many has interest in GW2?
Currently the Mac client is still iffy and I’m not even sure if HoT will be available for Mac, imagine to SteamOS.
I’m sure that if Anet decide to work in something this complex they would focus in something like DX10/11 support or 64bits client instead.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Ok, lets be realistic.
From that 1.5% share of the market, imagine it will grow like nothing else you ever seem in the OS market and it reach 5% … how many of those 5% won’t have any access to Windows, maybe 50%?
So we have 50% of a 5% that use SteamOS, from that small market how many want to use it for an MMO, and that share that use SteamOS and have no access to Windows and want to play MMO, they like GW2?
You are asking for a quite big change focused in an really small share of the market.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
You’ll have access to the betas, when we have one.
More betas will be announced in the future and you’ll have guaranteed access, if you look in your character creation screen you’ll see one with a small “beta” tag on it, it will be your beta test toon.

(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
While I agree that mechanically it is more realistic now, we need to keep in mind that this is a fantasy game, impossible stuff happens all the time, ranger lost the ability to put traps in walls and under some surfaces for example, I know it would be impossible to do that, but make a frost trap over a lava area also would
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Do you mean trap skills?
I’m pretty sure that every trap in the game now doesn’t ground target, I have no idea why devs removed it and they never really explained.
If you are talking about something else then I’m clueless.

LA was a pirate city for a small window of time.
Before the rise of Zhaitan it was a regular city, actually a quite big one and had nothing to do with pirates.
After the flood Mariner rebuild it they way he could and being a pirate it ended as a pirate city but soon it grew and became a multiracial city with rules and everything and a pirate theme on top of that, and now it has the structure it deserves with a nautical theme because you know … it IS a nautical city.

It’s so refreshing to know a company cares enough about my characters to see them without any traits or skill and decides to go fix that up for them without consulting me. Because, well, let’s face it, I just can’t be trusted with the responsibility of setting up my characters’ traits without a corporate hand. Ar they going to continue to select my traits and skills me for me? Because I’m still that untrustworthy fellow you couldn’t count on to pick the right traits a couple days ago, so I think they should make sure to spend those hero points for me lest I fail to do so myself. Nothing makes me feel more like it’s an RPG than having my skills and traits picked for me, yessiree boy howdy!
Please read the link I posted, it is written in details why they did it that way: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Things-we-know/first#post5199934
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
i have read the explanation. i am glad for you! i’m glad you have a job that you can check the gw2 forums from that’s really cool. i wish i had a job like that, sounds nice…
Be from IT rules
however, i disagree. first of all this is a subjective matter. i may be frustrated by something you are ‘inconvenienced’ with. that is ok. we are allowed to have differing opinions! however there is no reason to invalidate someone’s frustration with a poor mechanic by telling them it is objectively inconvenient!
Yeah, you are right, it was kinda selfish point of view from me.
if the build was perfect, it’d be fine! i’d have fun playing my character the way that i built her. however, that is not the case! i remade a couple of my characters and had much more fun recreating them the way they were intended! this was fun, yes this game is SUPER FUN! and i love it. this doesn’t change that.
however, in my minimal free time i’d have had MORE fun, 20% less stress, and no need to type out this giant garble nobodys probably gonna read if this didn’t happen!
so i think it’s fine to express that here, in an open discussion on the game forums.
i hope that wasn’t super boring or rude or anything!
Yes, discuss the situation is fine, but Jon already explained why they took that rote as solution and people should know that an algorithm that convert the builds won’t be perfect at all, and most posts here seems more like plain venting of frustration than just discussion.
I’m sad that for a while you won’t have the best experience in-game but keep in mind that sooner than you expect you’ll get back in that good times you had.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Give back the Zerker meta? Since when it is not meta?
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
we are critiquing an implement of a frustrating system, i don’t understand why people get so mad when someone gets frustrated. sure its just ‘a few hours’ what if my time is limited! what if i have a job and can’t play gw2 all day and want to play the character i was building before the patch in my free time!
everyone cares about build at least to some extent i think. they want to play the game ‘their way’, make their own character and progress with it!
it’s not an issue of not having access to it all in the end, it just felt unnecessary!! and the algorithms for the autobuild were woahwacky it seems. it’s like ‘oops you had the wrong weapon equipped!!! here is a full spec of (thing you don’t want)’ haha
It is not frustrating, it is inconvenient at best.
I also have a job (writing this from the office :P ), I leave home 7:50 am and get back 7:30 pm, anyway … I’m 100% sure that the auto build didn’t break your character so badly that you are not able to play it anymore, also if the build was perfect you would still level your character anyway, right? So what is the big problem anyway?
Jon Peters explained why they did it that way here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Things-we-know/5199934
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
PvP and WvW seems very viable.
PvE you’ll lack a bit of sustained DPS but still viable.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Are you guys for real?
Get a couple levels and do a few hero challenge and then unlock everything, I’m sure you don’t even need to be at level 80 to unlock 100% of the skills and traits, this “problem” is temporary and can be solved in a few hours of gameplay.
If you don’t want to level up and/or do the hero challenges so why do you even care about build anyway?
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
You can have all professions on the same character, just not all active at the same time.
When you “remove” a profession to learn a new one you don’t lose the progression from the removed one, and you can switch back later talking to that profession trainer, the fee to switch is very small.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Would it be worth going for 50 points?
In my opining it isn’t, you just get a few more tittles and a few Achievement Points, not worth the time.
As for question 1, I should be fine without linking accounts? Why I ask this, when I get to 30-50 points, I will probably buy the $100 HoT and start a new account and link that one, Instead linking my current account.
You’ll be fine.
You can work on your HoM points and later add it to your new account, just don’t link it to any other acc before that.
BTW, I played GW1 from 0 and no friends and took me about 350 hours to get 30/50 points, and later with help of my guild mates I reached 45/50 but then I had about 1k hours.
