I’m probably one of the few that don’t use a keyboard to play GW2 I use a G-13 game pad, to use chat I have to use a keyboard that is not on my desk, in WvW if I want to chat I have to stop moving (very bad idea) or be in a safe place to type, not the most ideal conditions but I love the game pad and have grown to accept the fact that in most cases I can only communicate via TS or mumble if I want to survive. In PvE it’s different not as intense combat and spamming a auto attack leaves time to type in chat.

I have 0 expectations of getting one as a drop. I don’t even care if I do anymore. RNG gods are against me lol.

Same here… 3000+hrs and no pre drop, although I do have enough gold to buy one I’m not sure I really want to, I’ll probably wait for the precursor crafting before I decide if I want to invest the gold either way.

Randomize world event timers

Blanger.3162

I think there is already enough RNG in the game, the amount of hours played to get the chance of a precursor drop or a legendary in the mystic forge comes down to just individual luck (or account number luck if you believe in it) randomize all the world events and players will be faced with luck once again playing a role in being in the right place at the right time, some of the lessor events will never spawn because no one does the pre and as we have seen before when events go for a length of time without spawning or completion sometimes they break and require Anet to fix the problem. Tyria is a large world and it would appear that the world events are working as Anet planned if not why would they release a API for folks like gw2stuff to use?

Randomize world event timers

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Blanger.3162

Blanger.3162

Sounds like a personal problem, I hope you can get used to timed events.

This… and you realize you could just play without the timers and not try to ruin everyone else’s day who only has an hour or 2 max a day to get on and needs to optimize their routine.

Agreed, the old timers (without the API) got spammed at times to mess with the players and throw them off, the new timers like gw2stuff are very much a convenience for players who have limited play time but want to do world events. I like the fact that it’s not part of the game UI so the people who don’t want to use them and roll the dice as to when a event pops are free to do so.

But it’s nice to have access to the timers for those of us that find them useful, I use the gw2stuff to not only see what is up but what is in window or getting close to opening the window for the event it allows me to maximize my time in the most efficient manner and plan which area I go to next. I can’t even count the number of times I’ve told players asking about events like the Maw where the event is time wise because I keep the timer open on a separate screen and can at a glance see what is happening and most are thankful for the info so they don’t waste their time just standing around waiting for a event when they could be doing something else more productive.

Can anyone explain the mini thing to me? I got this because of gem purchases but I’ve never used a mini. How do they work? Is it a one time only thing? Can you use it over and over? Like, I have 2 of one kind, account bound of course. Is the 2nd one any good? Is it bound to the character that opens it?

As far as I know they are account bound, can be used by any of your toons, they just follow you around and look cute, can be used over and over but will go home (storage) when you WP or change zones, or when you deposit collectables, not a lot of purpose other than the cute factor at the moment but that is JMHO

Oh yea…there are minis that are not account bound that you can get that can be bought and sold on the TP, there also is AP’s for completing a collection.

Scarlet as a champion of Primordus

Living story and personal story spoilers ahead

Hi folks,
Given the recent hints of dragons being involved in the living story, as well as the DO NOT TOUCH thumpers, among other things, I wanted to put together a theory that would at least entertain the notion that Primordus is involved. (I made this video before all of these neat hints today).

(snip)

And Scarlet will now be mass producing these creatures in her factory somewhere (the ‘islands’?) and finally unleashing them on Tyria.

She is amassing a new, super army – a combination of the alliances, the new corrupted minions she’s created, and also by drumming up all of the destroyers still underground (via the Mysterious Probes).

Interesting…….so in your opinion where does the newly talked about “Death Star” come into play? maybe the factory is in the sky instead of “the islands” or it’s considered a island in the sky?

Thanks for your take it was interesting.

Who's excited for 2014?

Having recently dug into the lore, I don’t think there’s any way that it CAN’T have to do with dragons. They mentioned the feature “bundle” coming in 2014 that sounded a bit like a mini-expansion (in the 2013 in review post) but it’s still a bit vague.

(snip)

Finally, a huge expansion with all of the zones you mentioned? That will demand some heavy development, for all of the art/design/code/hearts/events/etc. that a whole new zone would require – like, more than a year. Cantha and Elona, from what I gathered, were like Tyria. And Tyria is pretty massive. We’re not even finished uncovering all of it yet.

Thank you for the explanation on the lore, very helpful.

I’d like to pose a hypothetical question to everyone which is this.

We don’t know the size of the design team working on the LS updates do we? Is it possible that since launch Anet has had a team working on a expansion in conjunction with the LS team? and if it is possible would the amount of time since launch till spring/summer of 2014 be a adequate amount of time to create a expansion and still produce LS content on a regular basis if the team was large enough? Would it be to some advantage for Anet to keep this a secret? And lastly do any of you think GW2 can survive solely on LS updates with no expansion ever?

Yeah I know more than one question, but it’s a hypothetical that’s been rolling around in my head for the last few weeks and I can’t understand why they can’t or won’t give us more info than it’ going to be a big year for GW2… just hype?

Blanger.3162

How many times do they need to say that content traditionally associated with expansions will be released through LS updates before people notice?

I know they have said that but the problem is…..the content leaves and is gated so it has to be completed in the 2 week time frame or it’s gone, granted events like the current Wintersday are reoccurring but just like the LS it is gated and leaves the game after it’s ran it’s course.

I’m not complaining, I actually like most of the LS content, but the fact remains that it isn’t enough to hold the interest of players who have been here over a year and have completed most of the tasks that the game offers not involving LS.

Anet will have to open new areas of the map with new DEs, Champs, Hearts, Vistas, and mobs to keep the players happy and coming back to GW2, someone in another thread made a great analogy about sitting through a 2 hr movie that you had seen a hundred times and how much interest do you have in watching it? while I enjoy killing the shaman at the Maw it is getting quite stale, it’s a great fight for the first 1-20 times but after that it’s just kinda’ boring and I look for other things to do, after you do those other things what is left?

Yeah, because all of the LS updates have been entirely temporary content, and we totally don’t have a modified path in TA, scarlet invasions, updated Tequatil, new fractals, revamped Kessex Hills, oh and Southsun Cove …. yeah, that’s all gone now.

Living Story is not just temporary content … it’s some temporary content that’s used to introduce permanent content.

Outside of seasonal content, there was remarkably little temporary content in the second half of the year, and even a lot of the temporary content from the first half has returned to us as permanent content in fractals.

Additionally, when there is temporary content, it’s not just there for two weeks. The general pattern was one larger update with content that lasts for a month with a smaller follow-up two weeks later.

Yeah I know you are correct they have gotten better and like the tower in Kessex it has been around longer with more progression (story&content) than any other LS update, the 2nd half of the year has certainly been better contentwise, and if a expansion isn’t in the future I do hope they continue to evolve and refine their LS updates.

I also know that once they start down the path of an expansion there will be no turning back once it’s released, people will want another and another, we chew through content like it was a small bag of fries wishing we would have bought the large bag….it’s just never enough.

Like I said I do agree with what your saying, nothing I’d like better than for Anet to be successful in the direction they are going, new content every couple of weeks is just a great concept for a MMO and it has held my interest for over a year but I feel I’m in the minority of older players.

Agreed, some of the best times I’ve had is helping other players I come across trying to defeat a champ or mob and joining in for the kill, I’m pretty much a solo player in PvE but helping others is one aspect of GW2 that I really enjoy especially in the low levels where new players are trying to learn the dynamics of the game.

I spend a lot of time in Orr and it’s very common to come across a small group of players trying to take down a champ or run a event chain, even with the scaling it’s a lot of fun and does at times turn into a epic battle, people always for the most part work together and a shout out in map chat normally will pull people to the event so it is successful, people complain about the loot all the time but the battle is a lot of the time more fun to me and the loot becomes secondary.

That “other game” is going to fail hard. Not as kittenWTOR, but it’s going to be terrible. A game that is not based on lore, looks absolutely terrible and is not only B2P, but subscription based AND microtransactions?

Yeah, no.

GW2 will be coming out with expansion content sometime this year. Book it.

Your veiled threats against GW2 will go unfounded. You will probably play that game for a month and then come back to GW2.

GW2 players are spoiled and they don’t know it.

This ^^^^^^^
I do have to agree on a expansion, I really see no way around it to keep the playerbase who has been here since beta, new players that’s another story but the game has to grow and LS isn’t really cutting it for most of us, temporary content is fine for the short haul but this MMO is over a year old it can’t sustain itself on LS content and keep a aging playerbase interested IMHO.

18 Karma for events?

Blanger.3162

Well Sinbold. It is not true as said. My Guardian received 18 karma without grinding events and I did change the areas multiple tiems and it stayed so low!

Not sure what is happening to you but I do know that DR is alive and well, case in point in Wayfarer I do the MAW but while waiting I’ll do Wolfmaster as many times as I can for the Karma, first kill it’s around 200 karma, second kill it’s around 150, third kill is in the 90’s, forth kill in the 50’s where it will stay until I leave the area no matter how many more time I kill him. I have found that if I go to Twinspire (sp) and do a little crafting and miss a kill it will go back up to 200 or 150 for the next kill, but a second kill after that will put it back in the 90-50 range until I leave the area.

Expansion coming soon?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Blanger.3162

Blanger.3162

SOON? IMHO the LS content has been mediocre at best, some I have enjoyed others I’ve stayed away from but there will come a point in GW2 where an expansion will be the only thing to keep the players interested. We have lots of lore and areas yet to explore and temporarily opening those areas through LS won’t cut it unless the areas remain open after that LS content plays out. The game is now over 1 year old and those of us who have a year invested will want new areas to discover if the game is to survive and the older players stick around, I don’t believe Anet can accomplish keeping a aging player base without a expansion sometime in the not too distant future. (Like in 2014)

Of course this is JMHO

How much gold do you have?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Blanger.3162

Blanger.3162

760+ at the moment, I started saving gold to get the “golden” title last spring and saw how easily it was so I just kept saving and set a goal of 1k which I would have already surpassed if I hadn’t started a personal guild and bought influence with gold.

I saw someone ask about luck if you vend or sell everything, until I hit 80% MF I salvaged everything for the luck, since then I only salvage blues (for luck & mats) & rares (for ectos and mats, sigils which are sold), greens are sold on the TP, most of my gold has come from daily runs in Orr for mats to sell, selling ectos, a few good exotic drops that I’ve sold, and selling a few minis, also doing events. Gold isn’t a issue for me it’s karma that I can’t seem to hold on to since most of my 8 toons are decked out in exotic temple armors, the last toon I leveled to 80 I just bought the exotics off the TP since I didn’t want to burn up the karma I had banked.

AP Needs to be private

Blanger.3162

If I reach the next 500-step of AP, I generally think “Oh, cool! =D”.

If someone has really a lot of AP (and I happen to see that or if I check out of curiosity), I think “lol wow, he must have played a lot (or be quite dedicated to farm them)”.

Other than that, I don’t really care about how many AP someone has. I can understand if some people prefer to only take people to dungeons who have at least 1k achievement points, though; because you get those kinda fast while making your first experiences with the game. With 1k AP, you are way more likely to have a general understanding of how the game works than if you’re below that (because as I’ve already said, you get those first 1k kinda fast).

Agreed, I’m almost to 6k AP but I stink a PvP, and WvW, depending on the toon I’m playing I stink at PvE but I don’t really care, I play to have fun and get a sense of some form of achievement for the hours played the chests at every 500 AP are just another carrot dangling in-front of my toons that I must try to get, doesn’t mean that I’m the least bit competent at any one aspect of the game. It does show that I have played and completed tasks and should have a basic knowledge of the game mechanics.

one core can still use 4GB RAM maximum. You would know if you studied computer architecture. Its because the length of an instruction in the instruction set.

Thank you Sir…. I have only a layman’s knowledge of CPU architecture and being old I’ve forgotten a lot about how data flows and instructions are processed, but for a quad core processor it would seem 16g of memory would be max that could be accessed and the newer 8 core CPUs would be 32g is this correct? One other question if you don’t mind in the new 4 channel MBs does that change it would seem that it would not but only provide a wider path.

So, that high dollar power supply that I wanted kinda went out the window at that point because I wanted better fps and graphics now. Not later, now :p. So instead of saving up an extra $100 and ordering online I ran over to PC Brokers and got a power supply that was 100w over the minimum for my GPU which barely, and I mean barely by like one more millimeter the GPU wouldn’t fit barely, got it fit into my fathers kittenty PC haha. This has held me over until I finish purchasing everything here shortly.

Now this doesn’t mean I won’t be upgrading my power supply but like I said, I want to complete my rig now and play it now, so I’m definitely not going to purchase the power supply next or before I put all the pieces together and play some games on it but it probably will be one of the first things I purchase once I have it together.

Cush

Understandable…. something every system builder should have is a watt meter like this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882715001 small in cost but long in value testing the wattage draw of a new PC, it’ll give you a idea before any damage is done if your PS is of sufficient capacity to not only power your GPU but the MB/CPU combo along with the cooler, case fans and everything else the PS is running. In today’s world of 100w+ CPU’s figuring your total wattage demand inside the case is very important IMHO.

People still didn’t get it that, unless they’re working on some ultra-new virtual graphic generators ( used by e.g. architects ), they will not need 16 gb of RAM in the nearest future ( a couple of years at least ).

It amazes me, really…

That was the point of building this computer. To make it extremely powerful and to future proof it for a good amount of time. Is there something wrong with that? Especially when ram is one of the cheapest things on the rig.

Cush…

In the old days MBs and OSs could not address or access memory above a certain limit, in today’s world of multi-tasking, multi-threading, multi-core multi-virtuial machine systems that isn’t a problem, case in point, my wife likes to work in photoshop, corel draw, and illustrator all at the same time when working on a project both of the Adobe programs are resource hogs and while Corel isn’t as demanding it isn’t a slouch either.

While running any one of these programs by itself 8g is more than adequate, open all three and try to get anything productive done is frustrating to say the least, granted there are more factors here than just memory pool size, allocation, and usage, graphics program need well really good graphics, quick hard drives (for scratch disks), lots of processing power and a large memory pool, she does do some 3D rendering in Maya which is probably the most intense app she runs which they only recommend 8g of ram also, but open it along side the other products all running at the same time …..well in a 8g system it isn’t pretty or productive unless you like waiting.

Bottom line….I like to play GW2, so much so that I have ran Premier rendering video to Encore and let Encore author a DVD while playing GW2 which stresses my system I don’t believe I could have the processes running in the background, render video and play GW2 on a 8g system without problems but I’ve never tried it either.

As you say RAM is one of the cheapest upgrades you can add to a computer not as cheap as a just a year ago but still if your building for the future (which we all do) why not add in capacity that may not be used today but when Win9 comes out and can address 128g of RAM (hypothetical) you’ll be ahead of the game, everyone who builds there own PC has a goal or objective in mind, software they know they will be running but the demands of future software are an unknown so if you build, built the biggest and baddest PC you can comfortably afford but don’t scrimp on the power supply.

Not to disagree but would it not depend on what else the PC is doing? as a user of Premier I often see memory usage in the 80% (with 8g) while rendering video throw in a few other processes/tasks and it would seem that the added cushion of 16g would be beneficial. With the newest motherboards supporting 4 channel memory it would also seem that 16g would be the base memory you would want when building a system utilizing 4 channel since memory is matched pairs or groups now-a-days, last thing I would want to do is buy 8g (4-2g sticks to get the 4 channel) only to find out I should have bought a 16g matched set. I’ve always had the mind-set when building a PC of maxed stats in a price range or price point I could afford, never really knowing in 12-24 months what type of demand would be placed on the PC because of software revisions, Adobe has a habit of using every ounce of resources you have cushion or margin pre-built into a PC would seem to money well spent but it is JMHO.

How do you win GW2?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Blanger.3162

Blanger.3162

You win GW2 if you’re having fun. It’s that simple.

Now, this is actually markedly different from, say, pay to win style games where “win” is a number of enemy kills in a PvP environment where purchased power gives you a huge edge over those that don’t pay, so we don’t need to pull pay to win into the equation.

If you’re having fun, you’ve already won and can continue to keep on winning. So give us a grin and go keep having fun, you bunch of winners you!

This ^^^^^^

MMO’s in general are not meant to have a end-game or final chapter, you win small chunks of a much bigger puzzle that hopefully changes over time through expansions to keep that carrot dangling in front of you and keeps you coming back for more chunks that you can accomplish and win.

Totally contrary to console games I’ve played even with DLC, there is a final boss there is a end-game, there is a point where you have accomplished everything in-game you can do and you put the game on the shelf and move on to the next title.

This would be a “game-killer” to any MMO, new content, challenges and rewards are what makes a MMO the type of game that you can not win, you can get frustrated, bored, tired, and just plain sick of playing it but winning….never ever.

I heard anyone with a “2” and “9” in their account number is cursed with extremely low drop rates of precursors.

This is completely true. Here is why -
0 – Zero is nothing, and quantum fluctuation dictates that basically anything can come out of nothing, including a precursor.
1 – Numero uno, #1, top of the hill, of course they are going to get a precursor!
2 Well, 2 is just a wanna be number one, and it’s even, too. So boring. No precursor for you!
3 – The law of threes – it’s that you get a precursor!
4 – Number 4 in Chinese sounds like death. Don’t mess with that mo-fo! Better give him a presurcor!
5 – It’s in the middle, moderate, nice and temperate. That even-keeled-ness nowadays deserves a precursor.
6 – What do you get if you change one letter in “six”? That’s right, sox, or socks for our less-than-cool cousins, and what do you stuff your socks with this time of year? Precursors!!
7 – Lucky number 7. ‘Nuff said.
8 – It’s the only cube here, 2^3. Surely, for going above and beyond the square, this one deserves a precursor.
9 – For calling my Shirley and being at the end of the line, you get nothing. You lose! Good day, sir!

LOL…so that explains it, over a year of play and almost 3k hours not a single thing except a couple exotics, I just need a new account..no wait?

At least we have the slider option, last year we had no such convenience and LA was a mad house, then they introduced the musical instruments like the horn and things got really out of hand.

Having a title, an armor, a skin in PVE should mean you played the game and won it. As long as you can shortcut the acquisition with gold and gold can be bought with real money you are paying to win.

AS for personal image of winning, there are two things to consider. Take your game objective is to have Arah armor. You fight, learn and endure to get it and then what? Well, you might feel you won something ,but that effort is ridiculed by the fact that anyone with a credit card can get that armor.
You won… but feel like a looser.

If acquiring the title, armor, weapon, or whatever was only accessible through the gem shop for purchase only with real money then it would be considered P2W, but not only is it not the only way to obtain the object it isn’t the most popular or the way it is obtained in most cases, it’s a option to acquire for the folks that are in a hurry, have the disposable income, or just simply don’t want to do the content necessary to obtain the reward.

The other thing is there is nothing wrong with this, in a game that is F2P or B2P the company (Anet) needs cash to continue operating beyond box sales, the cash shop is a necessary evil to generate revenue, there are no in-game mechanisms forcing you to use the TP to acquire anything other than a desire to have the item. So with this in mind (the need to generate revenue) you have TP items that are only available through the TP and can not be obtained any other way. The people with a desire for those items have little choice but to use RL monies or convert in-game gold to gems to purchase the item they desire.

Still nothing wrong with this because nothing on the TP will give you a advantage over anyone else except the convenience of having it quicker, or the ability to salvage something to reuse the upgrades, or the cosmetics to have a certain look, these are preferences and desires not game changing mechanics forcing anyone to spend RL money which would be P2W if the object was a advantage over other players not having the item.

I’ve never felt like a loser in this game because I don’t have what another player has or do I care how another player acquired anything in game, nor have I ever felt like a loser because I completed content and got a reward that others could skip the content and buy the reward off the TP, it comes down to me in the satisfaction in knowing I was able to do the content and get the reward if you chose not to do the content and buy the reward it has no effect on me in any respect, it’s how you choose to play the game and how you view your accomplishments in the game. If your constantly comparing your achievements/rewards based on what others have done to get the same reward you will always come-away disappointed in any game same as real life.

Wow! So many pitchforks and blazing torches! I can never tell if I love or hate gaming forums.

And for the topic – I don’t care either way.

LOL …..

I think Azure (OP) started the thread, made a couple replies while making his popcorn and is kick’d back with a big bowl and a frosty beverage having a good laugh.

Interesting….

The pro WP people are saying Tyria is too large to not have WPs, the immersion folks don’t really see a need for them because they break their immersion and need to see and interact with everything that is Tyria. But yet all of us want a expansion that includes new areas/zones to explore don’t we?

I don’t want to spend a hour running through zones to reach my destination, most of the time I have limited play time to devote to the game and the thought of heading for a area I need for map completion and it taking me several hours (or evenings) to get to that zone is really a deal breaker to me, the only thing that would make it worse is if every time I died I had to start over from my origin.

I’d say make them selectable in the options, the immersion folks can just turn them off and have all the world to see at their leisure, the rest of us can use WPs and pay the toll for using them as we do now.

Should Guild Wars 2 be merely treated as a casual game instead of a world to explore?

Granted one could not use the way points. But then getting to events and such would be at a disadvantage to those that do.

If every one were restricted from using waypoints. Then every one would have the same chance, events would be made into a epic occurrence instead of another waypoint check list and traveling some where is meaningful.

And you would have hordes of people camping events waiting for it to pop, kinda’ like Teq was the first few days after the rework, if you can’t fast travel to events folks will just camp there…but the added effect would be the end of champ trains.

Naw….I like them, like others have said it makes travel to world bosses much quicker and my immersion is very shallow anyway, but could they reduce the number of waypoints per zone? I really have no problem walking to get to a waypoint so 1 or 2 per zone is ok with me I spend way more on repairs then traveling and normally walk a zone once I get there, zone to zone yeah WPs are a necessary evil to me especially if your traveling across several zones to get to a destination for a boss fight that is on a timer.

The loading screens make the game unplayable

I play on two very different computers, during the day (at work) it’s a lowly Intel i3 with integrated graphics and 4 gig of ram, old 500 gig HD, and a crappy DSL connection, the game is noticeably slower loading, playing most any content maxes out every aspect of the machine. (we won’t even mention zergs, or particle effects)

At home it’s a higher level i5 2500k OC’d, water cooled cpu, 8 gig of ram, 2x GTX 560ti cards, 250gig SSD, on a cable connection to the interwebs, never a hiccup on this machine and it’ll maintain 30+fps in all but the most challenging zergs where it’ll drop into the 20’s and is still playable, in the open zones it’s well over 60+fps away from mobs or zergs.

At work loading screens take 3-4 times as long as at home where they average 10-30sec in LA they are measured in minutes on the work computer, the work computer has a hard time in LA or any other populated area keeping 15fps and the lag in zergs is unplayable so if I play at work I’m normally just out in zones gathering mats hoping not to run into a mob.

These two computers and internet connections are like night and day, if I had to rely on a slow connection and slow PC that was graphically challenged I’d just go back to playing console games.

Both of these computer are about 18 months old and are running 64bit versions of Win7 but are light years apart in specs and it shows just how bad or how good it can be. On the home PC when I go to LA the fans on the video cards kick into high and stay there until I leave the area with no other noticeable indication of the amount of work they are performing, the work PC well it is laggy, freezes, and is noticeably stretched beyond it’s capabilities.

Wait to craft or craft while leveling?

Your choice really, you can advance your toon and bank any mats you save, or you can craft slowly at the same time and level both your toon and your crafting, as long as you don’t use crafting to artificially level your toon you can control both and advance as you feel the desire. Keep in mind though that you can only have two crafting disciplines active at the same time on any given character and there are 8 crafting disciplines.

You’ll really have to hold yourself back leveling if you play very much, you get xp for just about everything except logging on and logging off and the levels come rather fast in normal game play.

I have noticed that. Wish there was a way to turn off experience.

No real reason to in this game since you don’t out level content. With the down leveling you’ll still be doing content at level not matter where, so the only thing leveling does is gives you more options on what you can do.

This is true, if you want to go slow I would follow the suggestion above in following your PS and where it leads you, it’s more structured that way but your still going to level up regardless, my advice is not to worry very much about what level you are or how fast your advancing just play the game as you choose and enjoy the ride, you can always start other characters and switch back and forth that will give you a feel for different races and professions and slow things down a little bit more.

Todays gamers? want the story to be delivered exactly how “it needs to be” or its kitten. Gear grinding? thats kitten. Everything is kitten. No one appreciates anything and in games today, and devs have it rough. GW2 is unique in how its build and I could tell from jump it was going to take awhile for it to fully flesh out. How they are going about it is interesting, and the living story is a great concept even if the story absolutely sucks, but the crying… and kittening… its unreal.

I have work in 20 minutes and needed to vent, thank you and good quaggan.

^This… 1000 times This…

Unfortunately the “I want it all right nao!” crowd is the underlying cause of everything that’s wrong with the GW2 community.

So, the answer to the questions “What’s wrong with you” is simple. You have the attitude that you are entitled to everything the game has to offer without actually putting in any effort to get it.

Agreed 100%

Coming from console games and never having played any other MMORPG I have a pretty jaded point of view about GW2, I love it and I hate it at times but the good has always outweighed the bad aspects. To me there is nothing about GW2 that is deal breaking I feel that for the hours I’ve played I’ve gotten one kitten of a bang for my money, being a goal oriented player the game provides me with many more challenges than a console game could ever bring even with DLC’s

Could it be better? kitten yes!, is Anet going to make the game better than it is today? we can only hope that the game continually progresses towards the things we all want, if it doesn’t I still feel they made a great game and I got more out of the game in the form of hours spent doing content that was enjoyable and challenging along with being a excellent value when you spread out the cost per hour.

I just had my 1 year anniversary playing the game last month and have no reason to stop playing that I can see in the future, there are a few console titles coming out that I will play but for a game that is only a little over a year old Anet would seem to me to have already accomplished a lot and are reasonably interested in listening to their player-base and make changes based on that input. You could never have this type of fluid/changeable content from a console game which IMHO makes GW2 worth playing.

Dailies, run a couple of world boss events, crafting if I have the mats, gathering mats if I need something, LS content or WvW depending on time and mood.

If its a weekend and I have nothing but time it’s either go to Orr and kill risen, gather mats and run temple events or WvW if our guild isn’t doing something interesting.

Your in…. we’ll need bartenders and minstrels to help us celebrate our victories!

I would apply for the position of bartender if I can sample unlimited amounts of my new creations (how does freshly pressed karka taste? chill it first?) to ensure drink quality and the desired long time effect.

I am good at listening as long as I am not required to do more than nod and add an occasional “mhmm”.

Proper tips will increase the speed of conjuring my sultry intoxicants and secure proper temperatures for more traditional beverages.

If you drink to forget you will have to pay in advance.

Sorry, that stool is reserved for Kasmeer.

LOL… your in also, you may have the ale concession in my new country and of course sample all you may like as long as I get my cut in coin to help resupply my Zerkers, now I just need to get my blue commander thingy, a Zerker army, a couple ships and we’ll head on over and start kickin’ some karka kitten, I think we’ll start with that queen and get her out of the way first.

BTW: Karka is said to taste like chicken with a fishy smell guess we’ll need a few cooks also…. man being a potential ruler is a lot of hard work!

Meta events, gathering mats, killing mobs in Orr, champ trains in Frostgorge, crafting to 500, helping low level players, dailies, monthlies, LS content, PS content, grinding for armor or weapons, basically the same things you do at levels below 80, some of us find that WvW and PvP are better with seasoned toons that have put their time in PvE and mastered their professions although that’s not really a necessity.

Some people work on different builds by redistributing the traits and trying different weapons & armors, and of course there are those that just stand around in LA.

I do not want to be The Hero. Then again, that’s my preference. I think the problem is the pacing here.

Every single npc we’ve encountered so far has gone out of his/her way to tell us about how awesome we are. After 2 measly missions you get promoted to the highest operative rank in your order and then out of the blue you become the commander of an alliance that includes thousands of people. Next thing you know, we’re gonna rule our own country.

Agreed, don’t care about being a hero, but ruler of my own country now that peeks my interest, give me that karka laden island and a army of zerker warriors to command we’ll clean it right up!

XD. I’ll follow you my good sir!

…I do not have a zerker warrior though. As a minstrel maybe?

it’s cheaper to buy the gems, convert to gold.then create your own storage guild and then convert the gold into influence to create guild banks.

Yep, I think most of us are already doing this and will continue to do so as it’s a cheaper option than even store bought space.

Agreed, I bit the bullet months ago and did the personal guild thing and it has worked out rather nice, the added benefit is that if you choose to run under that guild banner sometimes and build influence you have the added choice of dropping banners which comes in handy at times and is normally appreciated by the other players.
