In a nutshell. But warriors can bring defensive support and boons and guards can do offensive.
If you can use Ma#4 knockdown and bulls rush with 100b and eviscerate its not a horrible build to roam with. Just squishy. 20k eviscerates anyone?
Also, you’re running AXE in WvW? Oh lord.. What else are you running? GS? Congrats, you can kill low level upscaleds… If they’re really low level, or bad…
Lmao
Yeah 20k is only doable on full zerker. But you can easily get 10-15k on a “proper” warrior build. Thats more than half their health gone in a single hit.

obsidian flesh 4 sec invulnerability shocking aura stun when they hit u burning speed to reposition ur self and keep theif farther away from a back stab plus u can dodge twice these are some very simple ways for u to solve the issue just be better at ur class instead of calling for nerfs pls and if they are D/D then dodge the very telegraphed cloak and dagger skill and they will run out of utilities to go invis with
Lol.
I’ve been running my warrior build of full berserkers + scholars with 30/25/0/0/15 traits in WvW and have found it fairly easy to dominate in roaming situations.
Yeah… Not buying it. Either you’re outright lying or playing against incredibly incompetent players. Both equally likely… With that build any decent player will eat you alive.

And sigil of earth…no. You have 0 condi dmg.
Hammer would also be a lot better than mace or bow
Oh man. That is some insane combo. Not a chance in the skies i could do one like that in a short time.
I do like the engi but maiby i should try a simpler proff when starting gw2?
I watched some youtube tutorials and i am pretty intimidated.
Nah. Stick with engi and youll get the hang of it pretty quick. For leveling use bombs and rifle tho. Start out with rifle then just spam bomb #1. Bomb #4 will essentially make you invincible against a big group of mobs. For gearing just use “mighty” gear (power). Then at 26 use “strong” (power precision) then at 65 “berserker” (power precision crit dmg). Get a minor sigil of bloodlust off the TP and stick it on your rifle, thatll also help a lot
Standard mesmer condi build
What I like most about SWTOR is probably just the fact that after 10 Months of play I have gotten VERY use to the gameplay. And for the record I’ve never even watched a Star Wars film!!!
As for WoW, I think I disliked the number of Keybindings, and the grindyness of doing their little quests. Even Side Quests were a pain.
In SW there are Side Quests but it’s actually fun!!! There is such a HUGE differance between SWTOR & WoW. Also, you can upgrade your backpack to 80 Slots in Star Wars. It was like I couldn’t carry ANYTHING in WoW!!! Plus in SW you can send your companion to “sell junk” and free space at any time.
Another concern I have is the time it takes to hit Endgame. I’ve heard it is very easy to Level to 80 and it happens fairly quickly. I have also heard that Endgame “sucks” in GW2. Is there any truth to these rumors?Mayra
You could upgrade your bags in WoW too. But thats the point UPgrade. You can in this game as well.
There’s not really traditional quests like in other mmos. You get xp for literally everything. The fastest way to level is just map completion, but often times i just end up running around doing whatever looks cool. Gw2 is also different in that if you are above the level for a particular area it will down level you to that areas level so that its still a challenge. You get the same xp and loot you would at your own level area.
The endgame in this game consists of whatever you want. In that way it pretty much starts at level 1. Wanna map complete that zone? Do it. Wanna figure out the recipe for that cool sword you saw on the trading post? Do it. Wanna run some dungeons to get tokens? Do it. There is no traditional endgame. You just do what sounds fun
The wiki says it turns into might
Sometimes i regret my human warrior over an asura.
Hello everybody. I am a HUGE SWTOR fan and have a good number of High Level toons on that game (including an Endgame 55 Sith Sorcerer). Now keep in mind that Star Wars is the 1st MMORPG I have ever played, besides some tinkering around with WoW. Now I love Star Wars and have gotten very use to the gameplay, keybinding, ect. As far as my tinkering with World of Warcraft though, I was NOT impressed whatsoever. I don’t want to offend anyone here by trying to compare GW2 to any other MMO, but I would like some feedback from other SWTOR players that also play GW2. Mainly, will I like the gameplay or does the gameplay compare much more to WoW? I just bought GW2 and haven’t even installed the game yet. I will do it later tonight. Speaking of… I have 27 Ping and 12-14 Mbps Download Speed – How long do you feel it may take to install my game? I play on a Toshiba Qosmio.
Thank you to anyone reading this.Sincerely,
Mayra
This is kind of funny, since im a hardcore Gw2 player thats just been getting into SWTOR. Currently have a lvl 27 marauder and just finished with tatooine.
SWTOR and wow are NOTHING like gw2. Gw2 is entirely based around movement and active defense rather than straight up tanking hits. For this reason there are no tanks or healers because you can use blinds, blocks, evades etc to avoid the dmg you would have taken in the first place. Almost all the skills in this game can be cast while moving because movement is just that important.
I strongly suggest giving this
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/GW2-Combat-system-101-Guide
A long look. As for download speed its ~7-8 hours on my laptop, i cant say for sure how long with your system
Im running a Thief, currently using a D/D for sPvp. I also have P/D for swap, not used to P/D yet. Running 0/30/30/10/0. I’ve tried various Professions in sPvp just to see kind of how they perform in PvP, although I understand WvW is different. It just gives me an insight on their mechanics and what I can somewhat expect out of them, thief is my fav so far.
Thats good0/30/30/10/0 or 10/30/30/0/0 is the standard backstab build. You get decent survivability from shadow arts, and good dmg from critical strikes.
This link will show you what gear to aim for once you get to 80
The normal leveling weapon for thieves is Sw/p. this is because you can use the #5 ability to blind mobs (they can’t hit you) and autoattack cleave them down. The #3 also evades for the duration. Its pretty easy to level with. P/D is more a DoT weapon, not so great for leveling. Its a very defensive set, and there are some very powerful WvW builds using it, but id stay away for leveling.
Short bow is almost always the swap weapon for thieves, simply because its so versatile. You can spam the #2 for tons of AoE dmg, the #3 is an evade that cripples, the #4 is a long lasting poison field(use it to reduce healing, especially good in pvp), and the #5 is a long teleport incase things get too hairy.

Some misconception here. Berserker is the best stats for pretty much everybody because Direct Damage is the best choice right now. Other option?
Condition Damage : Its Rabid Gear (Condition, Toughness, Precision). Some profession are great for that (Necromancer and Engineer on top). But still, how condition work, yours powerful condition will diminish the condition from others (even if they are full Direct Damage, they will still give some condition). Meaning that even if you have good DPS with condition, overall you gonna decrease the party dps.
Healing : Most build (even full zerker one) can survive most encounter if you know what to do. Meaning that your heal won’t help at all except to give some breathing room, when things go bad.
Tank : Well that just don’t exist. You can really control the aggro. One way to partially do that is with a Guardian with a balance Toughness/DPS build. Most of the time he gonna have the aggro, but its not 100% sure. So not a good way to go.
This mean that your ultimate goal is to become full DPS (meaning Full Beserker Gear and Full DPS trait). Of course not everybody can do that, especially when you are new and don’t quite yet know the game. The trick here is to create a build with some defensive stats (from trait or gear pick your choice). Just enough defense so you can stay alive. As you become more comfortable with the game you decrease your defense gradually until you reach a point where you can’t go lower without dying too much. Hopefully you will be full DPS at this point, but maybe not. And you know what its not a big deal. If your final build is dps trait and full Berseker gear with 3 people of Knight (Toughness, Power, Precision), this is good. You are better with a bit less dps and enough survivability to stay alive, that full DPS but always down. Your lucky, because Mesmer is probably the easiest profession to go Full DPS. Some really good DPS trait also give you defensive stats and your illusion will take most of the beating, leaving you alive.
This guy sums it up well, at least for now since youre new. Those first two posts are so wrong tho. If you bring a healing or condi build into a dungeon youre asking to be kicked
10/10.
For those of you wondering look at the build
Love seeing pineapple vids
I wonder how much toughness they were running in that first clip. 3k eviscerate crit, :’( also love the second clip, always fun taking advantage of the other server. That block at the end to lol. He must have been crying on the inside he didnt get to troll you in downed state.
Every time eviscerate doesn’t crit i think a pineapple goes rotten :0
I believe this thread is less about the gem store and insta-80 and more about how Cond Build is apparently OP in WvW.
<cough>
Basically this. Look at his posts over the past day
This is so simple yet makes so much sense. You’re glued to the ground so can’t be moved w/e. i cant believe no ones thought of this before
Most common power builds are 0/0/30/10/30 using hammer/GS, bow/GS, axe+Sh/GS, sw+Sh/GS. Condi is 0/30/20/0/20 with dire or 0/10/30/30/0 with apothecary and shouts.
Power build gear should be zerker weapons/trinkets and cavalier armor with lyssa runes.
Thats my favorite of the viable builds. Tons of CC and burst, along with tons of mobility to escape if things get out of hand. A lot of it is about setting up combos for your longer, more damaging attacks (Backbreaker, 100b, etc)
0/0/30/10/30 is pretty good for a variety of weapons. You can start there and adjust accordingly. But 20 in defense is always mandatory for cleansing ire.

Yeah it’s a little confusing, sorry. I’m used to basically either grinding BGs or other various PvP things for gear to PvP or grinding dungeons/raids/world bosses etc for PvE gear. Some games I’ve played where you strictly farm PvE gear for PvP, some are different. So I’m starting to understand now based on what ya’ll are saying, sPvP offers an equal playing field based strictly on skill. For WvW I’ll need to acquire actual gear that I’ll have to grind out, now grinding gear for WvW is where I’m at a loss. Is there a specific type of gear I’m looking at farming? A certain route, such as this gear > then thisgear > this gear > and finally the gear you want? Ty for all the help.
Thats also very different in this game. All exotics of the same prefix will have the exact same stats no matter where i get it from. So say i get a berserker gloves (power precision ferocity) from a dungeon, but i also have one of the same level that i bought from the trading post. There would be absolutely no difference in the stats. They would just have a different look. Same with soldiers (power toughness vitality) or rabid (condition dmg toughness precision) or any other stat prefix.
Because of this and the trait system (top two tiers are offensive, middle two are defensive, and bottom one has something to do with class mechanic ie deathshroud, pets, toolbelt skills, elements, youre f1-f4 abilities.) any profession in the game can do anything. You can build an extremely defensive thief for example, and likewise a very bursty guardian.
If you tell me what profession you rolled i can help you setup a viable build for WvW.
Probably the max burst 25/30/0/0/15 D/D build. Full zerk and scholar, full signets for might. Cast CnD at the same you steal (from 1500 range) then backstab. If theyre still alive HS spam to death
Care for aegis with this build. If a guardian has aegis on and you do this you’re going to get destroyed because you’re beyond squishy. Still hilarious landing those 9k+ backstabs though. Very risky build, but it fits what you’re looking for.
Just use an auto attack….
And 9k backstabs? I consistently get 12k
So anything I get in these chests is basically useless gear wise considering the merchants give me free exotics and runes or whatever anyways. Besides the glory boost? So get to level 80, alright.
Not entirely useless. They’re mostly for looks. You can preview almost all the armor in the game in your pvp locker in the mists. Thatll give you an idea of what some of the higher end chests can have. (All that gear is also obtainable in PVE/WvW)
You can also get it from karma at Orr temples
I’ve been gone since October or November and finally got my PC working again and am getting back into the game but I’ve got a few questions.
Is the new heal skill, Defiant Stance, worth it or are Healing Signet and Healing Surge still the go to heals?
There was a S/S+LB build that was fun for pvp. 0/0/20/30/20 or something? Anyone know what I’m talking about and if its still viable?
Did the healing signet tweaks make any real difference, or is it still just a set it and forget it heal?
Were there any other major changes that happened? I only skimmed over the release notes. As a general question are condi builds still looked down upon, not just on warriors but other classes, or have they been given a buff yet(in a pve environment)?
The new heal is only good for massive zergs in WvW, otherwise no.
The standard condi build is 0/30/20/0/20 or 0/10/30/30. Dire with the first, apothecary and shouts with the second.
HS is being tweaked by 8% in march. Nothing else has been done to it
Every thing else is the exact same
I’ve been doing Solo Arena, just so I can learn some basic pvp in this game and get the hang of my ‘profession’. While acquiring some money, I got some reward chests that gave me some items are these of any use in WvW? How should I go about gearing up for WvW as thats more so what I want to be doing.
Those wont do any thing for WvW. Spvp is COMPLETELY separate from ANY other game mode. Anything you earn in spvp cannot be used anywhere else, and anything you earn anywhere else cannot be used in spvp.
To get serious about WvW you first need to be level 80. From there just get exotics/ascended with stats that compliment your build
Because their are hardly any guardians….
Warr cuz OP
I used that build at fotm 79, it works very well. If you feel its too squishy for 40+ that is 100% an l2p issue.
It works pretty well as long as you have group members to babysit your conditions and tank for you.
Very true. Thats why all good groups have at least 1 cleric staff guard. Gotta heal up all the bad zerkers after all
Or kick them and get good Zerkers so you can have a 5 man party and not a 4 man.
Sarcasm was obvious :/
Probably the max burst 25/30/0/0/15 D/D build. Full zerk and scholar, full signets for might. Cast CnD at the same you steal (from 1500 range) then backstab. If theyre still alive HS spam to death
What’s a tank in GW2?
And yea, most builds work best when you synergize with your teammates. Have any more shocking revelations?
I started to reply to you specifically when your argument was basically LTP. What is a tank in GW2? Mobs generally aggro the player who has the most toughness in the party. And since generally that is not you it will be someone else. Most builds do synergize with the team but while the 30/25/0/0/15 build does produce the best warrior DPS. Other than perhaps a banner or fgj this build brings nothing to synergize with the team other than DPS. So basicaaly this build in very hard content needs to be supported by other players who have to take a less DD build in order to support you so you can put out big numbers lol. I never questioned that the build does not do DPS I questioned how sustainable it is with pug groups or bad group comps, or in a party where everyone runs a as selfish build as this one in difficult content. And COF P3 is not difficult content.
The max DMV builds for other classes dont suffer anything. Support is support regardless if youre zerker or cleric
Cavalier armor with lyssa or melandru, zerker weapons and trinkets, 0/0/30/10/30 great for almost all weapons
I used that build at fotm 79, it works very well. If you feel its too squishy for 40+ that is 100% an l2p issue.
It works pretty well as long as you have group members to babysit your conditions and tank for you.

Can i have your stuff?
some people understand that warriors are way too strong (over powered)
but in the other hand most warrior players noticed how stupid OP the warrior is but refuse to listen to reasonPros:
1- high health and toughness.
2- easy to play in PvE/PvP
3- a lot of weapon choices.
4- Lots of Mobility
5-Copious amount of gap closers/movement skills to both engage or run from combat
6-Sustain
7-Easy access to CC immunity/ Condi cleanseCons:
1- Everyone knows you need to be nerfed.
2- Most heavy armor is kinda ugly.and at the end the only thing that needs a nerf on the warrior is everything.
Fixed.
Is your sole purpose in life to cry how OP warriors are on the forum?
It’s the new meta. You may want to change healing skill though, and you might want to have one more stunbreaker.
The new meta….
You have 0 condi clear, 1300 power but you have an axe, vuln duration sigils, bad traits. This is one of the builds people post to be sarcastic to people asking for help.
Stuff like this has been going on in the warrior forum for months. Glad its someone else’s turn to be “OP”
Its not intended, just a bug
Uhhhhhhhh………..
Stalker’s strike would do nice with a stealth addition and I still think we should have some kind of skill like Camouflage: Gain stealth for 30 seconds. Ends early on movement. 30s recharge
Good for both laying ambushes and general map scouting in wvw.
That would be so OP. you could sit in a keep all day long. You can’t sweep for it either since they just sit there perma stealthed
Look at your traits. They probably got reset
Yeah…this would be to much
It could also easily have been S/P. he immediately pistol shipped you, which if you sit in the whole thing does more dmg than backstab, and evades for the whole animation. It also stuns for 1/2 second. So were you stunned? Otherwise i agree it was full zerk d/p
Warriors are significantly over powered at the moment. The key would be to make them, once again, extremely subject to condition damage with few ways to cleanse.
Remove the cleanse from cleansing ire. I only use it for the adrenaline gain anyway.
so basically you chose a build that is not optimal for wvw and asks for nerfs for class that is only good at roaming….
not only that, you admit that you wiped the floor with that thief because they didn’t use stealth… doesn’t it prove how kittenty the class is w/o stealth
i don’t like it when i see a thief surviving a 1v3 fight.
That has absolutely nothing to do with the thieves. People in WvW are sooo bad compared to tpvp
If u say that complaining about bugs is whining then I am a whiner. I enjoy playing it , but will continue complain about the bugs anyway.
A bug? No when ascended was first introduced the weapon strength for kits was at ascended level. They hit fixed back to the way it is now shortly. So clearly not a bug.
And who here is asking for nerfs? Wtf? Reading OP
I think it would be cool if it was 300hps passive, but then kinda like rangers troll Unguent you get600-750 HPS for 10 sec. 25 sec CD.
Numbers can be tweaked but i think its a cool idea.
Looks like everybody runs longbow and greatsword….
I run GS/hammer, axe/Sh+GS, Sw/Sh+GS, and Sw/Sh + GS. I’ve been meaning to buy a zerker LB so i can play around with GS/LB tho
Will Mesmer still be a viable pvp choice? Looked into necro a bit more, doesnt appeal to me and being OP is boring. Facerolling gains no bragging rights. I watched a few videos on Ele and Mesmer specifically, Ele seems decent 1vs1 in duels and seen a guy upload a month old video of some form of PvP, was a lot of people. He seemed to do decent really, Mesmer casting seemed to be great aswell and that was a current video, no melee involved. So Im unsure about the first post. I appreciate all the insight so far, anyone else feel free to chime in.
Eles are indeed very powerful if played right. But the skill floor is so high for them most people can’t do it. Skills in this game are tied to the current weapon you have equipped. So on my warrior i have a hammer, and its skills have lots of stuns, knockdowns, immobilizes, etc. but on a guardian he’d have completely different skills wielding that same hammer. You can also swap to another weapon in combat. So on my warrior i use hammer/greatsword. This allows lots of CC with the hammer to set up my big burst dmg with the greatsword.
Dont rush straight into pvp or youll get roflstomped. Level to at least 60+ to get a basic understanding of game mechanics. And if your buddy goes thief and you go mesmer youll absolutely wreck face once you both know what you’re doing
Failed to a Kill Shot. So pro….
I feel like you are very biased about warriors. Hey, I play one too, it was my first toon, but don’t act like kill shot is impossible to hit. When I played greatsword/rifle for fun, it really was not hard to land kill shots if you weren’t being focused. However, mine never hit that hard. This is way out of line.
It’s not out of line. It takes a lot of specialized building to reach those numbers – the warrior sacrifices a lot to get there. The skill has an incredible telegraph, and the warrior is a sitting duck while channelling it. I don’t like the skill either, because every warrior I’ve seen building for it is terrible and easily slaughtered.
I’ve actually been hit by it also, but I just laughed at myself for not seeing it, because it is really telegraphed, what with the long wind up, the going down on one knee, the neon sign over the warriors head, etc. Coming here to QQ about it is kinda over the top.
I’m not at all biased about warriors. I just hate all of the troll posts from people who cry nerf to things that are easily avoided just because they don’t understand how to fight the profession. I main a warrior, but I also have all of the other professions but necro and ele (couldn’t talk my self into buying more character slots since having lots of alts is punishing in this game). I kill warriors easily on thief, mesmer, and engineer. Really easily. Super easily. Ranger not so much, but that’s because I suck really bad on my ranger.
Mabye this is because I was playing an ele, and I have to work my rear end off just to survive(being this was a group fight). He saw that my endurance was gone, and I didn’t have my air 4(reflect projectiles) available. I’m not really complaining about the warrior necessarily, but the fact that this can happen.
Wait what? Your mad a character geared and built for full out damage was able to one shot another squishy player after having seen him use his reflects and evades? Its called counter play.
Really? So why can’t I one shot him in the same circumstance?
Eles have the fastest untelegraphed burst in the game. You’ve gotta have quick fingers, but you can easily burst someone down in less than the time it takes the warrior to kneel down and cast kill shot. Also churning earth and fire grab can and do oneshot people.
