Whats the point then? Whats offensive about the human body?
It’s not what’s offensive about the human body itself, but the artists’ intentions, and the prominence across media over time and the impression and influence it leaves upon its consumers. There is nothing wrong with a woman who is conventionally attractive, and she has every right to feel good about herself, and to be represented in the media she consumes. She has the right to be sexual, dress however she wants, et cetera. But there are many women who aren’t conventionally attractive, who not only rarely see themselves in the media they consume, but are insulted and disregarded by the men (and sometimes women!) who believe the only attractive women are the ones they see in media. And people’s impressions of what are beautiful are definitely influenced by media (and vice versa), if you consider what people considered beautiful across different times and cultures, and compare it to their works of art. There’s also a problem of artists using sex to sell, or just casually thinking, I want a sexy women, so they put in a sexy women, because she’s sexy, not because they want to show her as empowered and capable of choice. Of course, someone who would want to put in just that might very well create the same product, which is why issues such as the watch knight are tricky to discuss.
The problem is that there is a very small definition of beauty, and that small definition is everywhere. If you’re a woman who doesn’t fall into that definition, there’s a good chance life will be harder for you. And yes, some people will rage and think all women who fit this standard of beauty (fictional or otherwise) are terrible, but just because they argue it poorly doesn’t make the problem a non-issue.
I’m sure there’s a lot of details I’m missing here. But it’s not about ruining the game for those who don’t have their problems.
Honestly I don’t think fat women are attractive nor will I ever think fat men are attractive. But there is a science behind what is appealing to our eyes. and the science says that when we see a “beautiful person” we get certain stimuli that actually prolongs your life. So this image has been portrayed for a very very long time. the fact still remains though if you don’t like it then don’t play! In this game they have artistic rights and therefore it does not matter what you or the (guessed—->3% <—-guessed) of you that are offended think and it will stay.
Maybe we should censor these as well then and make them fat? and give them covered breasts?[/quote]
I feel I should point out that in the eyes of the media these days, those statues would in fact be labeled as “fat” unfortunately.
Also I can’t think of a single context where that sentence would not be insanely stupid and honestly offensive.
Your comment about a female mod doesn’t help either.
considering you can ezmode farm deadeye at 20g/hour, you put 2 and 2 together and what do you get? inflation!
That would be the case if
a.) all classes could do it as efficiently
b.) everyone is doing it
well the thing is I really DONT want to take advantage of this and grind deadeye…but if this inflation keeps up i’ll be FORCED to grind deadeye for the 20gold/hour.
Considering this event lasts until september it’s just a matter of time until everyone and their mom starts doing it.
I’ll be transparent here – I didn’t know about it until you said it. And tonight I’ll try it on my zerk warrior :P
I assume you use all gambits on Deadeye? And even through buying tickets, you still profit?
If inflation was suddenly a problem for this patch, I would have bet John Smith would have recommended a quick patch adjustment late last week. It’s his job to watch it.
But since we haven’t had anything (if there were no stealth nerfs), I think this may have been intended.
Perhaps lvl 500 crafting and new legendaries may come out next week…
Honestly? It wouldn’t shock me if they put this out first just to prep the economy and player base for the crafting, Which is why now that I have the golden title and little use for the gold beyond that, I’m just hoarding any mats I get.
Although tbh my care about 400-500 crafting depends solely on their being ice themed armor or not >_> Ascended in itself ( and legendary weapons for that matter) mean zilch to me if they don’t suit my tastes.
Just remember guys, that even though gold drops have increased considerably (especially from boxes), a tons of loot have also dropped, and players have been dumping them on the TP. Just look at all the dropped prices in terms of lodestones, t5 mats and select skins. 15% cut is a significant gold sink.
Yeah, for all the hate that the TP tax gets, it is doing a marvelous job at keeping the economy in check.
The personal story was almost entirely Sylvari focused, hell even the Zhaitan Arc’s theme is the Sylvari theme song. In fact, the story works best if you play it as a Sylvari (Sylvari was my first character btw)
Sylvari can wait their turn.
That being said, I’d expect their turn is in fact coming up.
Which makes me wonder, are they going to be the star(s) of killing the other dragons? Can they not be corrupted by the other dragons, like they can’t be by Zhaitan?
Eh, I kind of doubt it. I personally feel like Jormag will be Norn focused, Prim will be Asura focused, Kralk will be……..maybe human AND char focused tbh. Not sure on DSD, finally I imagine Sylvari will be the focus again when it comes the 6th nature dragon.
As for corruption, I recall the belief ingame is that the Sylvari can not be corrupted because they are supposedly completely new life forms to the Dragons. Of course, there’s the theory that Sylvari were born originally to be Dragon Minions and that the Nightmare Court are, in fact, the true Sylvari.
I agree with 1 and 2, but the orbs aren’t really random. They go off a few seconds after spawning, granted I never let them stick around long enough to go off anyways.
There are times when they spawn in a place that simply wont allow you to rach them in time before they pull you. This is what I call random. Sometimes they spawn in places which will actually save your kitten by pulling you there. Sometimes they spawn in a manner which guarantees a KO (they love to pull you straight into Shadowfall and post-pull knockback means you cant even dodge that AoE). That is what I call random. IMO they should be somehow synced with the Shadowfall attack or be ranged attackable (would still require awereness to spot them on time, target and kill).
I recall them all spawning in the same spots for me (assuming I used the same arena)
IMO she is mostly well designed. There are three things to consider.
1) Poor AoE circles visibility. The grate texture makes it hard sometimes and I believe this to be an oversight on devs part.
2) Camera issues becouse of the dome structure. Another oversight I believe.
3) Random nature of Cosmic orbs (other mechanics are not random and OK IMO). Perhaps that is intentional but I would not call a random factor like this a good design.

Is it weird I know straight women, or married women, who are artists and like going just a little “top heavy”, racy, or otherwise appealing it up?
Not really. The only people I know who I consider true friends are female, and they’re the first ones to dress their characters up in skimpy clothing so long as it looks stylish.
Hell, one of them wants the tier 3 med human just because of the underboob where as I myself would have to pass on that one.

When I made my engi I gave her as tough a look at the game would allow. I would have preferred a body type with smaller breasts though, but they weren’t available. Take a look.
There are a lot of body types many of us would prefer in games, but we have to understand the limitations the developers have. There is nothing wrong with requesting more diversity though.
We just have to make sure we don’t say, “I couldn’t make smaller breasts, therefore sexism!”
The size of the breasts are the concern which happen to come with the body. When most of the breasts are DD+ it is obvious without argument. It is like saying Lara Croft just happens to have huge boobs but has nothing to do with using that to market to male gamers. -_- Though I love Lara Croft, I will still not deny that fact.
What do you expect from FAKE breasts. Of course the Watchknights have FAKE large breasts.
Small FAKE mechanical breasts just wouldn’t look right.
Please read the post. This is not in regard to the bots but the body selection for Norns and Human females.
Eh, I’m personally ok with female norn body shapes.
It’s the barbie doll humans I hate. But then with the right armor even that can be hidden
Everyone replying please go install Guild Wars and run Gates of Madness, Glint’s Challenge and Shards of Orr solo and then come back and tell me it was LOLeasy. I guarantee you will not.
I use these three missions as a gauge to tell me how difficult content is in GW2. Queen’s Gauntlet is at a level of difficulty much higher than those three. I am saying nerf the difficulty to be on par with them. Right now it is just mind-numbing frustration and annoyance. I am saying this after having reached Tier 3, Fight 1.
Gates of Madness: Easy
Glint’s Challenge: I recall this one being easy also. Hell, weren’t there builds designed with the express purpose of solo farming it?
Never did Shards of Orr myself, the dungeons in EoTN never really interested me.
And you can’t compare GW1 and GW2 difficulty wise as the mechanics are entirely different in every possible way.
It’s really not as bad as people are making it out to be. It’s only been a few days, so people haven’t learned the fight yet. Once you learn it, it’s pretty simple. (Went back and one-shot it on my necro after beating it on my ranger.)
I bet there are a ton of Mini’s in Lion’s Arch by the end of the event. Just keep at it.
More then likely, I feel people are greatly exaggerating how difficult the community as a whole finds this.
As it is I’ve seen plenty of people with the mini other then myself even outside of LA.
The encounters are perfectly fine, the only thing that needs fixing is the camera, the zerg being underneath and every now and then bugs. Also reviving you automatically would be good.
If the problem is the actual mechanics of the fight, then I’m sorry but those are perfect and one simply needs to get better.
Ah what the heck, I’ll chime in on this. I voted for Kiel for one simple reason, not because of the wp’s, not cause of the reactor, (though I do think that will be neat). I voted for her cause I am a gw1 vet, and I dislike the charr.
Clearly you haven’t play thru eotn.
Oh Really? You mean where Doomlore shrine is and Central Transfer Gate, dwarves turning to stone to fight the destroyer. Having a half dozen hero’s tagging along threw an area and one of them being, (if you choose to bring him)… a charr. Pyre Feirceshot right? Yeah, in my world one good doesn’t re-write all the bad.
You mean other then the rebellion he (and you) helped spark leading to a better Charr society?
If you don’t like it, don’t do it. Why would you do something you don’t enjoy? The Queen’s Gauntlet is embraced by many players, and most are willing to help and provide tips and builds to those who are open to it.
Are they also providing the gold to buy a new complete set of armor and weapon? :P
Considering how easy it is to make gold right now……..they may as well be.
Also I’ve heard of very few people having to change their gear completely. Most either have had to change nothing or simply change their skills and traits.
In ancient art that features the nude human form … body proportions are always believable and never exaggerated to make the people depicted more sexually appealing, again this is applied to both genders.
I may not agree about the Watchknights specifically, but I appreciate the spirit of most what you said – however, in this particular, you really do not have the slightest idea what you’re talking about.
Yeah I decided not to include stone age fertility charms in my point about art, I obviously have no idea about art do I. Yep a quick search of all the countless exquisite pieces of renaissance paintings and statues clearly shows all the women with DD breasts and men with 12 inch kittenes….
Last I checked, ancient art was not considered Renaissance.
My point still stands for old Greek and Roman statues. Or is over 2500 years not old enough for you?
I was merely pointing out that your claim of Renaissance being ancient is false.
I think you need to calm down before you start hurting your argument by attacking everyone.

Perceived as a “rebirth” by some yes, but not in itself ancient.
could be Scepter of Orr corrupted 250 years old Livia tho
Damm.. introduce Livia in gw2 would be AWESOME
Hmm… Could be Livia but she was never obviously corrupted by the Scepter of Orr.
She's in Sea of Sorrows so she was still around at the time of the book. It wouldn't be that suprising for her to have made it till now though it raises the question why she gave up her old job (High Exemplar, you know the job Anise has). That was only 70 years or so ago ingame.
One thing to keep in mind in regards to corruption is that The Lich in GW1 was able to mask his appearance.
Personally, I was it was Livia even though it likely is not. Maybe corrupted, maybe simply misguided…………but then that’s partially because Livia is one of my GW1 favorites.
There’s about a 2.5 second delay between when they begin to form and when they drop.
In reality, the best way to do is to watch someone else first.
Although eventually you’ll get to a point where you don’t need to know when they are going to drop, so much as you’ll know where to be by the time they begin to form.
Unfortunately I believe they said before that all Jubilee content including the arena is temp. We supposedly will not be seeing a focus on perm content till the next living story, with a greater and greater focus on perm content from there on.
Unfortunately, I can’t for the life of me remember where the post is, but I’m sure someone does.
There’s a skill retrainer for every class in the middle of Queen’s Jubilee. This should provide you a clue that respecing is probably something the designers wanted you to do.
It goes alone with what Guild Wars is like. For example the other night in Guild Wars I spent an hour and half alone trying out different builds for Glint’s Challenge, and I still could not beat it. I got up to wave 7 and was wiped by Destroyer of Lives. Nasty beasts! :o
Do guardians have to respec to finish the gauntlet? No? Then I don’t see why anyone else should.
Actually, I’ve seen quite a few Guardians say they needed to respec, and of course some did not (myself being one of them).
On the other hand, some necros say they had no need to respec and completed it and simply plowed through it with their normal condition builds.
When you just happen to be using the build needed to finish the gauntlet, it doesn’t really count.
People shouldn’t have to respec and especially not have to regear unless the challenge is even for all classes. Some Guardians might have to respec. Most don’t. Some players of other classes might not have to respec. Most do though.
I countered you claim, and then you go “uuuuh…..no that doesn’t count because…….because it doesn’t!”
You’re making a lot of assumptions already, it’s pretty clear anything from you will be pretty biased at this point, no offense.
I honestly don’t care what armor you wear as long as I don’t have to pick you up constantly. I don’t see why people on both sides of the fence make such a big deal over it. Try the grey area – its nice here.
