Quite honestly Krall, you have to admit this was pretty annoying.

About the only thing that I liked were the implications of the end boss.

I’ve got no problem with Scarlet, I really do not. But Christ this is just going a bit far at this point.

To be honest what urks me even more now that I think about it, is if they wanted to put out glorified reskins, they could have done it with some of the awesome town clothes and people would cream themselves.

Instead, they went this route.

To be honest I can not possibly defend the cost of t3 gear at this point anymore.

Please no. I hate it when people do this and get downed constantly. The dredge boss in dredge fractal is a guaranteed down for those who have no AR and can’t double dodge. In Maw, you’ll get downed in both agony phases. You’re just a liability to your group and forcing them to carry you.

Funny, I find it extremely easy to survive all of that.

One new fractal, that’s it.

This patch might just be the patch with the least amount of new content all year. This would have been the perfect time to add Ascended Armor at the very least.

It’s 3 new fractals (Thaumanova Reactor, Molten Facility, Aetherblade Retreat), 2 new boss fractals (Captain Mai Trin, Molten Berserker + Dredge Firestorm pair) and a story instance (thaumanova again). That’s probably more content than any living story to date, tbh.

Additionally, the new Mist Instability mechanic will add replay value to the fractals that already exist by messing with the gameplay.

I’m glad they’re adding AR and MF as fractals, because I loved both of them, but to be honest, it’s been a year since fractals came out, there really should have been more than one new fractal and two LS dungeons split up into two fractals each.

My guess is most of the team dedicated to fractals was focusing on the reactor (remember they supposedly did not start working on it till it was decided) and then after that they focused on trying to condense AR and MF to fractal size without losing the essence of the dungeons, and then balancing around that.

My or may not be a valid excuse, but that’s what I figure likely happened.

This update has been asked for, for quite a while.

And yet we still get people complaining.

Honestly, Anet could make GW2 the Jesus Christ of all MMOs past, present, and future and people would still say “Yeah that’s cool, but can make it toast?”

They said they wanted to do that, not that they would by the end of the year.

Sarcasm aside, what exactly are you are expecting? Shakespeare level writing for characters in an MMO?
Scarlet /is/ a comic book villain. Explaining how or why she does the things she does is akin to asking how the Joker manages to get enough explosives inside a building to threaten to blow it up without anyone seeming to notice. If anything, she makes more sense then the Joker ever does because at least in Tyria, you really /can/ use ‘magic’ to do all sorts of things (like oh… I dunno… combine things that don’t normally go together… Like Oakhearts and Clockwork…)

As for the cinematic itself… I liked it. Just as I liked Scarlet as a Joker-esque villain. That’s my opinion, which makes it just as valid as anyone elses here (minus the constant vitriol aimed at the Developers. :P)

To be fair, in the universe Joker exists in, you can use magic as well.

If it’s a true progress bar, then at the rate it’s filling up………I don’t see it finishing any time soon.

Don’t walk into the spore mines… They show a clear AoE marker around them and pop few seconds later.

And if there weren’t 70,000 other things going on, I might be able to avoid them.

Add those to the AOE poison, huge quantities of nasty mobs spawning all around…

It’s a bit much for an area you are supposed to just be traveling through.

It’s pretty easy to avoid the spores, even with the mobs on your tail.

The mobs themselves however, at least on the third floor, are the real threat.

I’m sure some players are better than others, and I’m also sure some classes can deal with it better than others. But there are a LOT of downed and dead players on the map so I am not imagining this.

And how is that different then the first day of nearly every other release?

My only complaint about it is that it was the perfect chance to hint at her motive………..and if anything it made it seem even more like she has none to begin with.

The closest thing we got were those two nightmare court members saying something about not being her to see her plan come together or something like that.

I don’t think a Living Story Content will ever be as difficult to kill as, for an example, Tequatl. Would be challenging though. I would be really excited if we ‘failed’ and then the Living Story would go on with all of the consequences!

I don’t think Tequatl has ANYTHING to do with Scarlet or the Tower of Nightmares.
I’m talking about the Living Story content, not about a normal ingame content which has been revamped through an update.

The Living Story has more plots than just Scarlet.

Bobby Stein confirmed that there’s a story behind Tequatl’s power boost and that (really? thakittens is censored?) it ties into the Living Story somehow, despite the utter lack of story in the update itself. Nonetheless, Tequatl Rising was a Living World story update, not just a “normal ingame content which has been revamped through an update.”

He is. We just don’t know how yet. But a developer stated that he is and there is an actual plot behind Tequatl Rising – even though we didn’t get any plot other than “Tequatl is stronger!” “Narru(to) is sent to fight Tequatl” and “Rytlock sent Rox to kill Tequatl to join the Stone Warband.”

My guess is we may be approaching the end of the Scarlet plot, and Teq was thrown in early both as a story reason for his strength boost and as a hook for the next plot.

To be honest every time I see living story do something in WvW or PvP outside of pure aesthetics I only ever see people complain, from both sides.

For things like new map in sPVP, that doesn’t really need to be considered living story content. It’s usually packaged along side it.

People like you are the reason that companies like ANet cannot be transparent about what they’d like to do.

On one end people are yelling at them to tell them their future plans. On the other hand there are people like you QQing about not meeting the standards that they set for themselves EVEN THOUGH they had stated that these timelines are not set in stone.

It seems like ANet has made great strides over the course of this year and has met most of their benchmarks. They still have 2 months to come to terms with even more of them and my faith in the ANet team is strong.

There’s a great article that relates to this, basically saying the fans are the game industry’s worst enemies I think is what it’s point was. Don’t remember where I saw it though.

My now finished (for now, unless we get some more ice themed/ghost themed gear) ice wraith look.

Truthfully, I find myself torn between my Guard and Necro, but my Necro is my most recent project.

The theme behind this is that of an ice wraith. So for it, I used the wraith mask, corrupted weapons, shatt wings and the rest is norn cultural.

Honestly the only reason I’m not buying this for Elise is because her current outfit fits my ice wraith theme much more.

I’d love to see the Krait try and march their kitten off the coast, through the snow and into a city full of Norns itching for a good fight.

My necro would make a killing off starting her own krait skin boot shop.

Keep in mind a lot of lore applies to them before they were, in fact, beaten. Not just beaten, but forced to flee their preferred environments or face extinction only to risk becoming servants of Zhaitan.

At this point, the Krait are on the edge of desperation. Xenophobia and overgrown ego take a back seat when true desperation comes into play.

As for the Court, it’s implied and fairly obvious they are the ones pulling the strings in this alliance.

That being said, how well this all turns out depends entirely on Anet and what they are leading up to.

I fully support PVE phantom mask, hell all town clothes.

My necro currently is using the wraith face paint for her ice wraith theme, but if I could use the phantom on her (and dye both the glowing red portion and the normal hood parts) it would be perfect.

It would not shock me if there were a secret entrance underwater.

There is a large tower/castle in Wizard’s Fief, Kessex Hills, just southeast of Garenhoff.

There’s no connection, as far as anyone has hinted at, between the wizard Isgarren (owner of the tower) and the new Krait tower.

I’m not sure I ever want to see the Wizard’s Tower in the Living Story. I love how mysterious it is, and the ominous, implied story around it. Even a good execution in the Living Story would take away some of the magic of the mystery for me.

I’m of the same opinion to be honest, it’s common for people to THINK they want to know something mysterious, but do not realize they are likely only to be disappointed because the answers don’t match what they feel the answers should be.

People raised a fit when ascended gear was first introduced and acted like it would be a requirement for everything from then on………..here we are now and we see how that turned out. I’ve gone up to fractals 30 with zero ascended/AR myself.

To be fair, ascended is a WvW problem, not a PVE problem. You can do 100% of the PVE in the game with rare or lower gear if you are careful and patient enough (possibly with DPS race bosses excluded).

Where the ridiculous stat inflation comes into play in WvW, where the extra stats, damage, start to stack with other extra stat buffs, turn a fairly evenly matched fight, into a much bigger problem.

I beat plenty of people equipped with ascended gear when I was still in exotics, only ever got some ascended gear because I had the laurels and commendations sitting around. If I lose a fight in WvW, it’s because I got outplayed, simple as that.

Granted, that was on my Guard, I’ll see if that holds true once my necro gets there.

To be honest, at this point I feel we have enough weapon skins. What we need are more sets of armor skins.

Why would the krait, a race from the ocean, be working with an elder dragon from a jungle. If you follow the lore behind the krait, quaggan and hylek it becomes clear that the krait didn’t used to be a problem. Something from deep in the ocean (Deep Sea Dragon) pushed them out of their home into the other aquatic civilizations and eventually to Tyria. If a dragon made them run away from where they lived why would they be working with an entirely different one? If they were going to work with any Dragons it would be DSD. I’m pretty sure they’re connected to something else entirely unrelated to dragons.

Does not connect in a meaningful way with the Krait in Kessex Hills who are just normal every day Krait, and not connected to an Elder Dragon.

To be fair, it’s pretty obvious we’re going to be seeing Krait that are far, far from normal very soon.

Trying on light outfits on my guard last night so I could get a feel for a norn necro look made me understand just how bad kitten a Necro with the AC greatsword would look.

So, currently I am going for an “ice wraith” look for my necro, maybe not traditional but I like it.

However, I am currently torn between two back pieces, and unfortunately this character is to low to try them on outside the preview window which to me feels limited in many cases.

So, what do you guys feel fits better with this outfit. The ghostly and icy skeletal look of the shatterer wings, or the almost wisp like icy wind effect from the wind catcher skin?

(providing screen shots of the outfit from different angles without either piece, and the outfit from different angles with each piece in preview window. Took a lot of the wings because I tried to catch them in various motions. )

This is what you want to happen, not what is going to happen. As the Living Story is generally adressed to everyone there probably will never be a hardcore-only content patch. Also they would definitely tell us about ascended armor crafting (which will be the main means to get it) beforehand ATLEAST in the release page.
