I’m not going to bother speculating what they’re planning. It seems that the community over-speculates and gets the hype level sky high, only to be completely blown away at the pure blandness of whatever it is that’s getting so much hype.

Wait until 2016 for Lost Ark,maybe the next big thing watch 8 and 19 minutes trailers and Black Desert, not as impressive or balanced pvp wise so far I’m staying calm until I try both. I went from C9 to GW2 the combat there is great everything else,gear,lag,hackers,farming,.. went down #wastedpotential

Rumors of Blade and Soul coming in 2015 as well.

I wouldn’t count on Black Desert being remotely balanced as far as PvP’s concerned. I’ve been watching some of the newest gameplays, and the mobility all classes have is flat-out absurd. I couldn’t imagine being a Warrior going against Ranger or Sorcerer; it’d be like a crippled kid trying to fight Albert Wesker in RE5. The game looks great though, but so do most Korean games.

I think everyone agrees that we need more content,EVERYONE,i don’t know someone who woudl say “No we don’t need content”…and i don’t say that.
BUT WHAT I SAY IS :
We don’t need it delivered in big chunks 1 time a year or 2 times a year.

I just want to see some content not catered to the 9-5 Dad that only plays 2 hours a week.

I think that’s my ( and quite a few others ) main issue with the game; that there’s little-to-no challenge. And the few areas that even remotely require players donning their thinking caps, are less rewarding than just spamming 1 in some zerg. If ANet opens up Cantha, or Elona, or even the rest of Tyria with more of the same issues that’s been repeated here on the forums and reddit hundreds of times the past two years; yes, people will eat through the content, and be back here kittening about it.

Then go play any of the many games aimed at hardcore players. WildStar probably has a sale on. Or, you know, WoW.

Seriously – there are tons of games for people who want to devote their life to it. GW2 was explicitly aimed at more casual players. This might not be the game for you.

I’m not asking for “hardcore” content. Just more with some spice to it. More of the open-world bosses in Dry Top that actually pose somewhat of a threat, and more enemies like those that pack a punch in the Silverwastes will do this game some good. I’m hoping ANet continues down the road they’re going as far as the increasing of difficulty of trash, and bosses. Just a little more and I honestly feel they’ll hit a happy medium.

No need to be aggressive, just voicing my opinion. Don’t want you to go to bed angry tonight, and be all fussy in the morning for work.

There is none, Guild Wars 2 and Guild Wars 1 have the best PvP in MMORPG, has been for years.

And you’re never going to find one that is better, Guild Wars 2 spoils their PvP players with giving them max levels and max gear.

I wouldn’t say “never”, but definitely not in the foreseeable future. That being, the next two years or so.

I find many of the choices pertaining to Animal Companions to be very bad choices. Like having 4 pigs. What is the reason for having 4 pigs when we could have a Raptor?

If Oink was a pet option, every ranger would have a pig pet.

Oink from GW1? There were Warthogs you could get, but never really noticed Rangers using pigs other than for laughs or to be different. 99% of the ones I knew, and most who I pugged with for dailies had Black Widow/Moa.

Will something be done about Rangers?

There is a reason no good team runs a ranger, they are underpowered if anything.

No good team runs a Ranger because they don’t have anyone who knows how to utilize the class to its fullest. Let alone skillful at playing it either.

This kinda’ made me laugh. So we have all these players that routinely compete, win weekly tournaments, and kittenin’ flew to China for a nice chunk of cash that play-test builds, theory craft, spend tons of time practicing, bouncing ideas off of each other, and devoting time to understand the mechanics of this game at levels most will never know…Yet Ranger’s LB 2 skill is too hard to master.

Was King Adelbern really a bad guy?

Copestetic.5174

I can see why Adelbern was present at the end. I figure Adelbern was there because while the Charr were still a threat, we got rid of the majority of the threat with the Titans. Of course, we had to go back and kill the remaining ones through those quests, but no doubt closing/keeping closed the Door of Komalie messed-up the Charr’s agenda for awhile before they found their new Gods.

Another reason, is whether or not you were a Prophecies-created character, ( though it makes more sense if you were ) I’m fairly certain the news of your accomplishments spread even to remote Ascalon, just as Ruriks death had. I think it’s reasonable to assume that he knew you would be a valuable asset to him, and thus the reason he went to see the PC; to ask for help now that the events in Prophecies had ended.

Emotionally is a little more difficult to break down. I mean, on one hand I always figured Adelbern knew about the PC’s, given the amount of time we spend with Rurik before and after the Searing. It’s kind of a stretch to assume that Rurik not once mentioned to his father about those who he’s been running around with killing Charr. Or who he was with when he brought down Vatlaaw. So to me, on an emotional level, he at least understood that we were Ruriks’ friend, and Charr killing buddy that turned out to be these super kitten heroes.

Barradin and Salma, nada here. I mean, we did meet Barradin in Pre-Searing, and brought put his daughter to rest with Althea’s Ashes quest, so maybe he felt he needed to show his support for that? Or maybe he was just there with Adelbern as an escort or something. No idea. Salma doesn’t make sense to me, because prior to WiK, I didn’t really know who she was.

Just my two cents from what I remember.

It didn’t really feel like he acknowledged the PCs in the titan quests, and the epilogue was written so much later it really felt disconnected to me.

Especially all the major figures suddenly showing up in Droknar’s Forge…

But officially he only banished Rurik.

If you talk to Adelbern during the little epilogue, he’ll ask you to come back to Ascalon to take care of the Charr ( or something along those lines ). Also mentions something about Rurik being proud of the PC’s. But for realz, Adelbern was totes a baddie and not a victim of being made that way so they can humanize the Charr for GW2.

I always thought that all the NPC’s being at the end of each campaign was more of a “party” if you will. A few days, or weeks after the events actually happen. Now for the end of Nightfall…ya’ got me.

I would have seen it as an honorable sacrifice to give the last of my people a fighting chance to live. At least that would have been mine reasoning. Adelbern probably just did it out of spite and anger.

But forcing them to stay in Ascalon didn’t give them a fighting chance to live. There was no chance whatsoever that they would survive the Charr invasion forever. Fleeing to Kryta in search of aid (and potentially use their help to reclaim Ascalon) would be much more about giving people a fighting chance.

Just out of curiosity, where in lore does it say he made them ( soldiers and civilians ) stay?

The thing to keep in mind is that Rurik’s betrayal could severely undermine the King, and have a bad effect on troop morale. And his journey across the Shiverpeaks could just as easily have resulted in the death of all those Ascalons, and not just himself. Its easy to look back in hindsight and say that he was right. But what he did was wrong, even if his intentions were good.

Wasn’t the choices basically: Stay and more or less guarantee the death of everyone or seek aid and risk the death of everyone?
I got that impression while playing the story at least.

Let’s not forget there’s factors that’s not getting any attention, and two of them are pride and honor. Obligation could be another, and patriotism as well. While Rurik and co. had no objections on saving their own skins, others stayed behind to fight a war for as long as they could; probably, due to the above.

My point is, if there’s an expansion they’ll deny it/remain silent up until the last possible minute like everything else so they don’t upset people or set weird expectations. Just because you have the “proof” they’re not working on an expansion with old interviews, means very little given their closed-lip policy.

Like Vayne said, you have to read between the lines with ANet.

How about I read what they said instead? Again, no plans for an expansion. This idea that keeping quiet, and not promoting a product, flies in the face of everything any MMO company has ever done.

Including this one.

How many people would come here and QQ about a potential expansion? I mean, you’re doing a good job about it right now and this is just a speculation thread. There’d be tons of people quoting the same sources you are kittening they have to pay another 50, or 60 dollars for new content and feel “betrayed” because it was all suppose to be released as free updates through LS or other non-traditional means.

Keeping quiet about it is a good move in my opinion. But I suppose like you said, you’ll have one Hell of an “I told you so” thread next year.

When was the last time ANet came out and said what’s in the works months, or years before it’s ( the content ) ready for release?

As far as upcoming content discussions? They have a front page for it.

https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/upcoming-events-in-guildwars2/

Last update was in September this year. Last actual discussion about unreleased content was this month about the Living Story returning on January 9th.

https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/season-2-returns-on-january-13/

Oh course, there are all those trailers, wallpapers, and live feed shows showing and discussing stuff before it’s released. . . .

Edit: And the upcoming wiki page discusses items and events months, and in some cases, years before release. Can link that too if you’d like?

They don’t talk about anything unless it’s starting tomorrow, next week, completely obvious it’s coming ( Halloween ), or setting a specific date to when something we know’s coming ( LS ).

The Wiki page is a compilation of all the crap that’s ANet’s responded to in interviews and in some cases, here. Like everything else, they’re not going to give out a date or even a rough date on when it’s released or, even if it’s even being worked on.

My point is, if there’s an expansion they’ll deny it/remain silent up until the last possible minute like everything else so they don’t upset people or set weird expectations. Of course as long as Adelbern is King, Rurik is only a Prince, and it really wasn’t his call. So Rurik was in the wrong here, even if his intentions were good. He went directly against the order of his father, the King. That is an act of treason, simple as that.

And yet acts of treason is not always wrong.

Should you really listen to a ruler that would rather get his whole kingdom killed rather than ask for help due to pride?

The civilians and soldiers that stayed behind had a choice: stay and fight their age-old enemy for “reasons”, or run to Kryta leaving it all behind. Those that stayed and, ultimately died whether by Charr or Foefire did so knowing that their futures were probably pretty grim.

Beyond that, I’m in the camp that ANet specifically made Adelbern look like a monster to make the Charr more amiable. Or, it’s all a farce ( how Adelbern’s portrayed in GW2 ) and it’s just the Charr’s way of telling the story to again, make it seem like they’re a half-way decent race.

A lot of people keep stating rank doesn’t matter. I agree with that to an extent, since you could ( or still can? ) farm it easily enough in Hot Join in the past. Despite that rank shouldn’t be an indicator of “skill” because of the above, I still think that it should be a factor in match making if it’s not.

I say this because the r80’s I’ve seen in my matches, have straight wiped the floor with me. While they may not be top tier material to the whopping 10 people who actively compete in GW2 ( and all the forum pros ), there’s a significant difference in skill compared to a rank 35 like myself, simply due to the amount of experience they have from the amount of games required to even be rank 80.

My experience has been about the same solo joining in Unranked. Before the 12/16 update, I had about a 70% win rate solo in Unranked, now I’m struggling to maintain 50%, and that’s generous.

At the rate I’m going, I’m going to be under 30%. Thankfully I don’t care too much regarding overall stats, but I’d at least like to look somewhat competent. Here’s some of my favorites.

The ONLY people complaining about this is the SoloQ players and again, the minority.

I highly doubt SoloQ’ers are the minority here. The general reasoning for pushing the queues together in the first place was because there’s like, 3 people who are interested in competing as a team in this game.

I’m thinking you super-hardcore-pro team players are the minority on this one. I also find it rather ironic, that those sitting here trying to go on about their “lives” and “jobs” are trying their hand at a higher level of play ( Teams ) which requires by default much more skill, dedication, communication, and more importantly time, to be even remotely competitive.

Whereas in SoloQ, you press a button and go.

I agree, OP. Guild Wars has a history of decorating their main cities up nicely; even some that are way out in the boonies, like Droknar’s Forge ( which I never understood, but it was welcomed! ). To have such a small portion dedicated to Wintersday this year really is kind of a bummer. Prior to getting into PvP for GW2 a few months ago, I took peoples ( what seemed to be “good” ) advice, and started off in Hot Join like many others. After about a week, I was tired of the crappy matches and decided to delve into SoloQ. I got wrecked.

In my opinion, the only thing Hot Join provides to new players, is a layout of the map. Sure, you can test builds there but why would you want to test how great your build idea is, against players that aren’t really good/new or, are just there for dailies? After spending a couple of hours on sites like Metabattle, the wiki, and YouTube, I came away more knowledgeable and a better player than I had from the week I spent in Hot Join.

I personally don’t think Hot Join does enough for anyone other than ANet, for it to even be in the game. I get people ( and ANet ) like to say people should start off there, but I think that’s a horrible idea given my experience doing just that. If they really want people to care and learn to PvP other than just diving right in to Conquest, I think offering more game modes with mixed PvE elements would be a good starting point a la Fort Aspenwood and Jade Quarry from GW1 as those two modes were a lot of peoples starting point before moving up to RA, Teams, HA and GvG.

Questions I have is – what class build would you make to be successful in PvE as a newly made account starting with Zero Items or Resources as to not lose interest in the game and end up quitting. I was in a rather nice GW CLan (AKA)but they didn’t move over to GW2 unfortunately…

I think the two absolute easiest classes to level with are Warriors and Rangers. Guardians are a close second contender for Ranger’s spot. Grab yourself a Greatsword for any of the above, and whack away through PvE ( and your brain cells ) for a week or two until you hit cap.

If you’re bored from PvE, you can get items that boost your level by 1 from Reward Tracks in sPvP. Or, if you really, really, really hate your life, head to the Edge of the Mists and follow a commander around for a few hours to get level-appropriate rewards and experience, with the only requirement of pressing your “1” key.

Or you could just drop some cash on Gems, and convert them to gold and craft your way to 80.

certain professions are able to ascend the spirit ball, much, much better than any other professions.

I doubt that’s the reason. Anet has done very little to ensure the classes are equally represented in PvP.

Try use a ranger with Sword + GS + movement speed signet+signet of wild.+signet of stone.

Some classes are better at running Orbs, sure. I run them frequently as my Warrior using Shield 5 and Stances. But just because some classes can run them better doesn’t mean a map with a somewhat unique mechanic ( in regards to GW2 ) should be completely put out of rotation.

There’s no one class to rule them all, and all have their strengths and weaknesses. I’m just going to chalk this one up there with it being “too hard” for the casualness of Guild Wars 2.

I really hope there’s no “Dark Knight” class added. The entire premise of the class seems completely lame when trying to put it in the Guild Wars universe.

I think the main reason why ANet requires us to be in HotM to queue up is to prevent people from ragequitting and not coming back. If you were in the PvE world before you queued up, logged out while in a PvP match, and logged back in, the system was more often than not unable to put you back into the match. This happened for both hotjoin and Solo/TeamQ. People in the PvE world could just quit and go on their merry way.

I think the reason they force players in HotM is simply to make it look like their one PvP mode is well populated. In fact, I believe all these changes are simply to make it feel as if there’s tons of PvP’ers active within the community and to force players to team in hopes of more competition in their little tournaments.

I think they’re shooting themselves in the foot here. Instead of removing a useless game mode like Hot Join, they essentially remove SoloQ. I for one, have no desires to make a static in this game. I know what that’s like from GvG’ing in the original, and in old Team Arenas. It’s just not something I want to commit to in a game that has one PvP game mode after two years.
