According to the wiki in base Tyria:

“There are 214 points available if you have the Krait Obelisk Shard in your home instance”

This means you still have to do some of the jungle to unlock your specialization. Sorry but I see no problem with this AT ALL.

My Warrior and Guardian both had over 200 HP’s left prior to HoT ( World Completion ). It’s pathetic that to max out an ELITE specialization I have to do what? 5 Hero Challenges? lol

ArenaNet, you need to stop caving in.

It’s bullkitten. Getting the required Hero Points isn’t/wasn’t very hard to do. I’m casually playing through Heart of Thorns right now, and I’m 85% done with Warrior’s Elite Specialization. While I’m not done with it, I feel as if I’m progressing and it gives me a sense of “earning” the specialization. In fact, I was excited to bring my new Rev through it to do it again for Herald.

I swear, this is the reason we can’t have nice things in this game that makes you feel good when you’re done completing them. Such a shame.

The only one that i think is truly hard so far is the one with the Balthazar champion, other than that you only really need a couple more people (which are not hard to find) to finish.

And you’re forgetting the fact that the new hero challenges gives 10 points instead of 1, you don’t expect ANet to just hand them to you do you??

I wouldn’t say Balthazar’s too terribly hard. Me ( Warrior ) and a Ranger duo’d it from on top of the ledge. Since he has ranged attacks, he doesn’t reset his HP/Aggro.

Should I purchase HOT or wait?

Copestetic.5174

Honestly? I’d wait a few more days at minimum to let them iron out bugs and such. We’ve had several patches since launch, and I’m confident we’ll have more. Holding out until things are a little smoother’s great for you; you get to finish leveling/whatever it is you’re doing now and, you get a nicer experience once you do decide to purchase HoT.

Aside from that, right now the community’s split between Halloween content, HoT, Revenant leveling, and farming the new map bonus system for materials. Not to mention Stronghold for sPvP and the new Borderlands for WvW. In short, we’re all over the place trying it all out. So again, waiting would probably provide a nicer experience once the initial “rush” is over with all the new content we just got.

Just crafted Sunrise (cos I’m a kitten). Here’s my feedback on it.

The good: having to get WvW rank to 14 forced me to play WvW and I really like it. So that was a pleasant surprise.

The Meh: It’s mostly a gold farm really. And an Ecto farm is you know your dungeons ^^

The horrendous: World Completion.

So World Completion. First off, here’s some ideas for improvements.

1. Hearts could have red rings on the map, marking their effective zones.
2. The mini map could have the same level of detail as the world map.

My advice to people thinking about crafting a legendary: Just buy it instead. World completion is a kittening nightmare. People will say things like “it’s easy” which it is. but it’s also a 100 hour mind numbingly boring grind; it’s the worst seriously. And I know some kittenheads will be like “100 hours!? scoff scoff, I do world completion in 1 hour and 15 minutes using nothing but my rock hard kitten for the keyboard controls” the kittens.

Anyway, that’s how I feel about it. Now to craft Twilight and make $$$ off Eternity

You think it’s bad and frustrating in GW2? Try doing the same thing in GW1 with no map editor. lol@ 100 hours. Took me a year to just do Cantha proper until I found an editor/overlay/whatever the cool kids call them to highlight areas that haven’t been unexplored.

Mind you, that was also BEFORE YouTube was this huge giant filled with “how-to’s”, Google turned up tons of guides, and the Wiki for GW1 wasn’t as comprehensive as it is today. Map completion in GW2 is a cakewalk.

Dragon Hunter, Tempest and Daredevil are the poorest received elite specs by far. They need more devs reviewing them because they’re obviously not as well conceived as the other elite specs.

Because they’re all ‘made’ by the same guy; Karl McClaine. All of ‘his’ teams classes have been really specific and, kind of bad. Meanwhile Robert Gee’s and Irenio’s have been pretty good.

I have to agree with OP. Out of all the classes, Guardians were the most likely candidate for receiving all that Druid got. Even from a PvE lore-base perspective, Guardians are Monks and Paragons rolled into one class; Monk, being the dedicated healer in GW1 while Paragon was a heavy armored, shouting, spear-chucking buff bot.

Druids on the other hand, weren’t even grounded in lore in GW1. Just vague references about a bunch of kittens going into the jungle and turning into walking tree ghosts.

someone skipped really nice chunk of Prophecies campaign huh? :P

Not at all. There’s just generally not a whole lot of information about Druids in Guild Wars Prophecies’ lore. It’s literally as I said, a bunch of Krytan dudes who went and turned into tree ghosts.

If you’ve played other MMO’s like Final Fantasy XIV:ARR, WoW, or 85% F2P games, then you’ll feel right at home. It’s an older title, so it’s very much using the “Holy Trinity”. You might be in for a shock, as many of the Titles in GW1 are quite expensive and grindy. If they’re neither of those, then they take awhile to work through. Don’t expect to have everything handed to you like what’s done in GW2. I played GW1 going on 9 years now, and I don’t have quite a few Titles. That’s excluding PvP Titles.

Is it worth it? I’d say so. You get a butt load of Achievement Points for GW2, and a good amount of nice skins like the Firey Dragon Sword, Fellblade, Diamond Aegis, and the Gnarled Walking Stick for you upcoming Druids. All great skins and free-to-apply.

Outside of the above, you get a chance to experience 250 years ago! With thousands of quests, missions, and maps to explore and see just how different the landscape’s changed since then. And the lore. And maybe come to a vague understanding of why some of us veteran, older players are salty with all the changes made. lol

I would never join a guild that requires 100% rep any more than I would join a club that didn’t let me join any other clubs.

I’m the complete opposite. I’m much more interested in a 100% rep Guild to find solid players who I know will be around when I need to ask a question, or want to start a party for something.

Not hop scotch around my Friends List and other Guilds. 100% rep is basically every other Guild system in existence in other games; joining one opens up a community of players that are united under one banner so-to-speak.

Moving away from Alliances that GW1 had is just another mistake ArenaNet made when trying to “innovate” in GW2.

So far, I see many many players using complete garbage builds.

ANet needs a way to give new players competent build. Without this, new spvp players will be farmed over and over again. Players of the same team will be angry with them.

There also needs to be a “Better Default Keybind” option that would change keybinds to be more efficient than the default. There needs to be tutorials on how to play them.

How can new players learn if their build and skills are bad?

New bloods cannot enjoy pvp if they go straight to downed state every time they leave spawn area.

If you give nabs specs that can be effective while requiring 0 skill is gonna end up like turret engis, spirit rangers and so on….

It’s not like new players really need to think they’re already good at something, if you’re bad you die…asking for specs to fill the skillgap it’s like asking to break this game even more

I’m probably gonna say something totally new and unexpected for 90% gw2 pvp community….but if you take a look at ANY other competitive game it’s pretty obvious

Nabs are supposed to get rekt…that’s how you’re supposed to get better, if you get rekt qq and quit then pvp is not for you and noone is gonna miss you anyway.

It’s not like everyone is supposed to have a spot just because someone else does….in a competitive game you go up only if you deserve to and most people are gonna stay where they are forever, how many play football at amateur level everyday? How many actually make it to major leagues? You’re basically asking to dumb down the game to allow amateurs to compete vs those playing in major leagues without being any better than them in terms of both skill and experience…and that makes absolutely no sense

Keybinds are pretty easy to adjust…you just need to put your binds where you can easily reach them, it’s not rocket science…you can’t make a “better dafault keybind” since everyone has a different keybind based on his hardware (Kb, mouse, keypad and so on)

I have to disagree. Not that I think you’re absolutely wrong, just that I’d like to believe that someone who’s new to the game ( who’s able to pick-up a meta build from the proposed “Meta UI” ) would understand that just because they’re using a build that’s tried and true, they still need to practice with it and understand Conquest/Courtyard/Stronghold mechanics along with everything else.

Good.

Even if it is RNG like Fractal skins that won’t bother me.

As long as it is some doable RNG (so not like 1/10000) it is fine. Then RNG can add to the game.. every time the rush of “will it drop now”. That effect go’s away when it’s a completely unreasonable drop-rate but with doable RNG it will be a pro.

RNG, in theory, should be higher for Raids. The reason being simply there won’t be as many people who do -and complete- them as to what we see in the open-world zergs. Where you have thousands upon thousands of players running around in the Silverwastes day in and day out, you’ll have a few thousand players beat the raid boss(es) every week.

Increasing the RNG on the ‘good’ items seems like it’d be a good deal. It keeps people motivated while getting their Legendary Armor sets going, or they can choose to sell the items to make some money from those that don’t participate in the Raid content.

Think Voltaic Spears, Bone Dragon Staff’s, Draconic Aegis, etc. from GW1. That’s kind of how I see it.

You’re funny, “reprogramm”-ing the starting build is just changing a few variables and it’ll take someone a few minutes to do it, but that’s the lame way to do things.

Anyway here is what dota 2 guides look like – http://i.stack.imgur.com/J2nSB.jpg

Even if new players would have meta builds it won’t change anything. Especially on classes that take time to learn. Give new thief meta dp build, he will still get farmed at spawn.

I swear I remember build examples in PvP areas in GW1. Like “Hamstorm” was one of them. It was a joke build, but I ‘think’ there was example builds early in GW1 that you could look at in-game. Now, this has been years and years ago, and the image is fuzzy, so take that with a grain of salt.

I think it’d be pretty cool to have like a “Meta Build” or “Popular PvP Build” tab under the Build section in the PvP lobby. Where it have a list for all classes, you find the one you’re interested in, and it preloads it for you. Give your skills, traits, runes/sigils a quick run-through to see how they work together, and have at it.

But that would probably require the age-old build templates which, ANet has shown time and time again that they have no interest in making our lives that easy.

The fact the only queue for pvp can you put as a solo with other solos against a full arranged guild team.

The utter WORST decision made by anet was implementing that tbh.

I don’t know. There’s been quite a few decisions that stand out as really bad on my list. Removing SoloQ is definitely up there, but so is not splitting PvE/PvP skills, balancing once every 6-months unless something really gamebreaking pops up, and only supporting one gamemode for 3-years.

Bunker position in Stronghold?

Posted by: Copestetic.5174

Copestetic.5174

Shoutbow here:

- Being able to practically keep NPC’s under the effects of Swiftness is great for the initial push and, helps catch stragglers up like Heroes.

- Conditions aren’t too much of a problem, given I have 6 AoE Cleanses with short-ish CD’s with 3 also healing for 1900-2050 HP.

- Burning through LB seems pretty potent to NPC’s. Due to high Toughness, they stick on me more often than not. Which helps keep the rats safe until I can whittle them down. Assuming of course, my allies haven’t done so already. 90% of the time though, they’re already dead or being dealt with.

- Can easily 1v1 a player and take out a pair of NPC’s. 1v2’s+NPC’s can get a little hectic, but are doable. ( Just my experience )

- Normal Bunker things here ( Banner, constant AoE burning, cleanses, sustain, Might etc. ) for team fights and lord room.

There’s cons of course, like high burst damage on the NPC’s, or a plethora of conditions covering a few Burning stacks. But overall I enjoy Shoutbow in Stronghold until you really good build makers tweak it specifically for SH, and post it on Metabattle.

Are teleport enemy skills (Revenant down state #2 and Unyielding Anguish) supposed to ignore stability? Unyielding Anguish cast twice can be used to decap a node and there’s nothing you can do to stop it.

Unrelenting Assault in a 1v1 reminds me of ranger’s Rapid Fire. It does a lot of damage and is significantly longer than a dodge, so even if you dodge it, you still get hit by a good chunk of damage. Might need to drop the number of attacks and give it bonus attacks against multiple enemies.

Is the ‘teleport’ skill you’re talking about the AoE one? Because I just had a match against two Revenants and yes, it’s annoying as Hell. Stability didn’t work for me either.

This is quite funny since in the necro subforums there are already complaints that reapers are paper…

Well the problem is they kinda need to be this tanky/sustainy if they want to stay in melee range against more opponents all the time (their intended design) without blocks, stealth, invulerabilities, mobility (for disengage) or extra dodges. So if you reduce their passive tankiness/sustain they would need some active defenses or they become trash…

I don’t know. A Reaper and I held a node against 3 ( 4 for a few seconds before he ran far ) for quite awhile. He was pretty darn tanky and while Shoutbow’s not ‘that’ great anymore, we were pretty comfortable there defending against those three others.

I have a level 9 sylvari and all I can say is this game is INCREDIBLY, INCREDIBLY, INCREDIBLY, INCREDIBLY EASY and BORING!

This is all anyone needs to read. The game isn’t supposed to be hard when you’re barely out of a starter zone meant to teach people new to these games.

Except this mind-numbingly easy content is the first thing players like the OP see. The game doesn’t teach you anything except how to spam 1. Oh sure, it shows you how to dodge, but you really don’t need to even do it until much later levels and even then…

Regardless, I think OP has a valid point about being bored so early in the game. In fact, I’ve seen quite a number of similar complaints in the Plains of Ashford recently, on an alt Charr I’m leveling. If a game’s content isn’t engaging a person in the early game, why would they stick around? Do you continue watching a boring movie after 30 minutes? I don’t.

Ah, I was wondering when Ohoni would post or make a thread about this. I hope it stays locked behind raid content and, I hope they implement more of these types of rewards behind other ‘hard’ content.
