I use Axe/Shield and Hammer in PvP ( and PvE because it’s zergy or completely faceroll ). For PvP, I don’t trait for it, but I find it extremely useful. Having an extra 3 seconds to find that Mesmer, not worry about being hard CC’d while running an orb, or negating the damage of Ranger’s 2 skill is a Godsend.
Of course, you can get more out of it if you choose to trait for it, like reflecting back projectiles, getting some Might stacks ( or both! ), or just cutting down the CD of those two skills.
I don’t know, I enjoy having a shield even if I don’t trait for it in PvE or PvP. That, and I’ve been a Tormented Shield/Chaos Axe user for going on 8 years…so I’m probably biased.
New weapons would obviously be great, but I think Hammer would be a much cooler choice for Necro
Necromancer Munne, ftw.
So it’s agreed then? We rally in Ebonhawke and kick the fuzzballs back across the Blazeridge Mountains and out of Ascalon!
I’m with you!
‘’Rally to me Ascalonians!’’
How I wish Humans were still at war with the Charr. Would have made things much more interesting to have to deal with Elder Dragons AND a bunch of fur balls.
One thing I really liked about FF 14 is that they really listened to their community. When it was first released it was pretty bad, not going to lie. However, they listened to player feedback, and did a complete revamp with A Realm Reborn. It just goes to so you that things can improve.
That’s one thing they have a leg up on ANet. They still listen to the community unless it’s like, “wtfruthinkinbro?no”.
Yep, I agree with pretty much everything you said. I’d also like to add, that the PvP scene in FF:XIV is also already dead. Hardly anyone does Arenas ( 4v4 forced 1 Tank, 2 DPS, 1 Healer on each team ) and Frontlines ( 24v24v24 of wtf ever classes going for 3 nodes like in Conquest ) has been on the decline since its release earlier this year.

Frankly, I don’t care how GvG turns out to be in this game other than: A. Two groups of players stacking to kill the other group/Guild Lord or B. A revamped Conquest.
I don’t think it should be ‘more’ rewarding. I think however, it should be more rewarding than it is currently. I’m not saying throw some gold in there, or gems. But, adding a few more champ boxes, dungeon tokens, and crafting materials ( with the exception of Dust, Ore, and Frags lol ) would be more than welcomed.
The back of the Masquerade shoulders, does resemble the White Mantle emblem. Here’s a screen shot I took to look at.
Just implement GvG like it was in GW1.
No point reinventing the wheel, specially 2 years late after the game release.
I disagree. I believe they do have to ‘reinvent the wheel’ for how different GW2 is compared to its predecessor. I do wish they’d hurry up though. lol
I have this feel, you’re not going to like what people are going to say.
I dunno…ever since the last few patches I’ve been lagging a lot too…..and I never do.
+1 Started lagging myself a little after Halloween.
I’m sure people have noticed, but for those that have not. There’s a Silverwaste Reward Track now. I’m like, 75% sure it wasn’t there until today.
What’s coming down the pipe doesn’t seem reasonably relevant to current game satisfaction/dissatisfaction.
In a game that had some expansions, or significant content updates, sure.
In a game that’s seen very little of anything, despite all these ‘big projects’ that’s been worked on in the background since release, I think it’s justifiable for people wanting to know if it’s time to move on.
10/10. Would have more fun playing your version.
Speaking of concept art. That one loading screen with the b-iconics is great.
Has Marjory’s greatsword animation been like that since the start? Where she does a little twirl on the third auto-attack?
Also, what’s with the green/black pools when Rox uses Barrage?
Josh mentioned a special RU episode during the last one, but I didn’t catch when that was going to be. I thought he said it wasn’t going to be it’s normal time. Anyone know that info?
Next Ready Up is Wednesday, November 26th, at 12PM PST. The upcoming Thursday (11/27) is Thanksgiving in the US, and the studio will be closed on the following Friday.
On the last Ready Up, you mentioned to stay-tuned this week for some updates regarding PvP ( or at least how I interpreted it ). Will that information be distributed through PoI?
Side note, I really wanna find out what happened to Devonna, Aidan, Eve, Cynn, Mhenlo and the likes D;
I’m thinkin’ they died. Well, maybe not Eve. She’s too crazy to die. I heard Mhenlo killed himself though. Poor man. I knew Cynn would be the death of him.

I renamed my War named Whirling Axe to Justiciar Amilyn. Thought that was pretty cool myself. Also have a Guardian named Healing Burst.
In the case of Gwen, you did all of two quests with her as a child. It’s not like she played some major role at that point.
This is incorrect. Gwen as we know her in Pre-Searing, was a powerful level 80 Mesmer/Elementalist as seen here:
Start at around 1:30. As an aside, it’s hard to believe it’s been nearly ten years since GW1’s launch.

You’re about to get trolled by Conquest try hards.
Which doesn’t change the fact that the overall quality of story/writing has deteriorated significantly.
That is of course a matter of opinion rather than straight out facts. I have seen rather many people dislike the whole fragmented and weird Prophecies storyline for example.
Also the whole “Abaddon is behind every single thing that have ever happened in all of the Guild Wars campaigns” was rather silly.
That’s also an opinion. I personally thought it wrapped things up quite nicely. I mean, if anyone/thing could pull all the things that happens in GW1, it’d be a vengeful God that’s trying to escape from his eternal torment.
In my opinion, I’d rather have that kind of story telling instead of what’s shaping up to be a generic dragon-of-the-year type of thing.
So what does ANet gain from commenting on this stuff? Well it sheds the toxic element and Maybe, Just maybe, they might instill some hope for the future in some players who actually like the direction they intend to go.
Honestly, at this point, it’d be hard to disappoint people with their direction ( or lack-thereof ). The only way I can see them losing a ton of people, is if they went out and said to expect the exact same thing next year, as what they’ve done this year; more LS driven story, a couple new maps, couple of feature packs/balance updates, and pushing the gem store.
Something Kurzick! IDK… Im bad at making guesses. Maybe a Cantha themed map?
GW2 style Fort Aspenwood, please.
I remember a preview…
http://dulfy.net/2013/11/22/gw2-new-game-mode-prototypes-for-pvp-shown-in-livestream/
Is this something that will be incoming before 2016?
They said there’s some things to look forward to coming up next week. Hopefully they’ll reveal more information about the new game mode, and maps. Hopefully.
And Skyhammer was played no more. Thank God.
Well I typed something out, didn’t really come out right so I was about to start over… but dlonie hit it right on the head, so I’ll just say “Seconded!”
+1
Had a lengthy post only to scrap it. dlonie has what I want down to a “T”.
The Whisper’s Armor looks Dervish-y to me for female light armor users ( other than Charr and Asura ).
Not sure if this is what you’re looking for, but I always had a thing for Elite Templar armor in GW1.

Would love to see some more skins from the original games make their way to GW2.
Finally. Another person who wants to see a Zaishen Chest in GW2. Here I was thinking I was the only one.
I hope they’re not re-introducing the Mursaat to us in this arc of the Living Story. Don’t get me wrong, Mursaat, the White Mantle, and Jade constructs are awesome and quite possibly my favorite enemies in GW1. I would rather see them get the treatment they deserve ( in my opinion ) with their own story arc. Not being somehow fit in just as fan service.
Maybe when the full set’s available.
Exactly. The FDS’s hilt in GW1 would only change color slightly, even with the darkest of dyes ( black ). It didn’t affect the actual flames. There were also many skins that couldn’t be dyed, or technically could, but didn’t have any effect.
I’m pretty sure ANet knows how to handle these types of things by now. I don’t see the issue at all.
I’ve just seen some questionable choices like removing the shop from in-game to online and removing certain costumes. When GW1 has no more updates, why are you removing content from it (even if it has just been cosmetics so far)? Seems like you’re trying to kill the game or something. Maybe not, but it worries me and others. I love GW1 and so do a lot of other people (I have GW2 too, but still like GW1 a bit better).
I’ve made a lot of friends and would be sad to see GW1 go. Please don’t remove anything else from it.
Probably not for another few years. I think you’re safe if you’re trying to grind out r4 KoaBD.
…and the Radiant armor skins. Having all Abyss dyed gear, with the glaringly silver parts of the Radiant Vambraces hurts my eyes.
Please?

Of course an expansion’s coming, anyone who vehemently disagrees I’d have to call a fool. With how many people ANet has working for them, they’re not all focusing on the Living Story. I fully expect one by spring of next year that’s just that; an expansion while the LS continues the important story involving the Elder Dragons. After all, they’ve mentioned several times in interviews that there’s “big things” going on behind the scenes, and to date, we’ve yet to see something just so huge these past two years. They know what the majority of players want, and that type of content just can’t be given out at the rate people want it to be through the LS alone. They also know it’d make them a kitten ton of money.
Also, if I’m not mistaken, an expansion has been included in some NCsoft report or some such nonsense; again, slated for 2015. This isn’t what I’m basing my opinion on, but it does reinforce what I already believe they’re working on. It’s Guild Wars. Of course there’s going to be an expansion.
This might be a prop that should be hidden, and might be featured in future parts of the Living Story. I don’t think we were meant to see it just yet, or at all. It could also be placed there by accident, although that seems a bit unlikely.
I think it’s a sign! Crystal Desert is what LS3 will be about!
Its a teleporter whether or not you want to believe it.
Except it looks just like the “throne” of the Ghostly Hero, and not that of the teleporters littered throughout the Crystal Desert.
Other than that, how do you know it’s a teleporter?
Legendary Champion. Get that.
Thought this too when I saw the first one thinking “Alright, the next one’s going to be a dragon!”.
I was wrong and it kind of disappointed me. Oh well, at least Glints Lair looks nice.
I finally figured out who this “E” character is. It’s Elminster.
I just want the Zaishen Chest. Throw some keys in reward tracks and call it a day.
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Zaishen_Chest
Edit: And a title to get primarily PvE’ers into PvP and, the rich ones to buy PvP’ers keys.
Is this shocking to anyone that there’s a “luck” factor involved in SoloQ? Did anyone here ever play RA in GW1?
Humans home first, Charr home first; I don’t care. I killed thousands of those kittens while Death Leveling in Pre for years. Then many, many more once the daily quests came out. I have since grown a sick passion for killing Charr that rivals Gwens’. I’d love to wage another war on the Charr as even with those that we can kill in GW2, it’s just not the same when there’s a Charr Guardian right next to me helping.
The Necromancer+Hammer combo is a long-lost secret kept by Necromancer Munne. Might want to head to old Ascalon and see if you can conjure her ghost!
I don’t mind, but then again I skipped last years events in favor of another game. I just thought that they were re-doing this years events for China?
I was thinking the same thing as OP after watching that video. After putting his theory out there, I was blown away. That would be cool as kitten.
Just out of curiosity. We have plenty of racial skills that are attributed to the respective Gods. We can pray to Dwayna for a heal, Lyssa for a boon, Kormir for a cleanse, summon Balthazar’s hounds, and become an avatar of Grenth and Melandru.
My question is: Are the Gods ‘really’ not here? And if they aren’t, why are we allowed to do the above?
The GW1 system was designed for a completely different game with a completely different type of “average player” playing it.
This system we have now – both stat-wise and skill-wise is designed to be as “dummy proof” as possible so terribly bad people can still perform and don’t drop the game.
That’s the short answer.
Pretty much this. It’s amazing how dumb-down games have become in such a relatively short amount of time.
why dumb-down?
Can I assume that smart games provide 9999 skills, 999 foods and drinks, 999999 other items and allow top gaming sets to be fully utilized and full time own those with basic keyboard and mouse?
Is it dumb down also that everyone have access to endgame gear and are gear and stat wise on pair with everyone else?you know. I’d like more of such dumb games.
I really do.It’s “dumbed down” because it doesn’t require the player to think and improve like the first game did.
It doesn’t punish them for being terrible both at thinking their character build/gear through and at executing moves.Let’s look back – GW1 gave you access to 8 skills – however a proper build required skill synergy and creating a combination of 8 skills that worked well together.
In GW2 your skill slots are fixed – that means you can’t go wrong since you’re made to take a healing skill, an elite, and utilities.
And the worst part? Your skills are tied into your weapon – so any player no matter how terrible he is can now just equip a weapon and be effective regardless of his understanding of the game.I remember in GW1 – when I first picked it up – I just loaded my skill bar with attack skills – needless to say how that worked out.
You had to pick skills out of a pretty large selection in order to create a skill bar that did something or the other. Usually skills had synergy between them so picking the right ones made a huge difference.
Couple this with the fact that you had to invest attributes and pick up upgrades for your weapons and armor ( which could do various things) and you have a game with a much steeper difficulty curve.Your weapon, your attributes, your upgrades and skills were all linked together. If you could think things through properly you’d get a build that was good. If not you’d be terrible.
The bottom line is that the game is dumbed down not because people have access to end-game tier items easily – but because it doesn’t force you to get good in any way.
It doesn’t make you have to think about what you’re doing or you might fail. You can open world farm bosses all day every day in the worst gear in the game and have no idea what you’re doing since the zerg is there to cover for you.
Couldn’t have said it better myself. Excellent job.
