Would that categorize pranks as well as form of sadism?

I would say that pranks motivated by a desire to be hurtful are absolutely a form of sadism. The same principle is at work here — Support will almost certainly be reviewing incidents to determine INTENT.

There’s an element of naked callousness at work. This isn’t an interaction with a person you know which opens up the possibility of good natured poking between friends — this is being sprung on complete strangers with no other goal than to be hurtful.

Since it’s so black and white issue I can almost see no difference between deriving pleasure from torturing people and throwing a water filled balloon…

Then I hope you develop the social skills to tell the difference. You’ll probably need them at some point. Because in the real world there are places where pitching a water balloon with be considered fun and others where it’ll get you fired (or worse). Likely with even less opportunity for appeal than here.

Is this ‘the’ Nike from DnT? If so, it’s ironic that you’re taking the high horse at all. Especially considering you trolled thousands of players shortly after Raids launched, got kicked from Raid Testing, and then preceded to remove tweets/posts that people got offended by, leaving only the positive ones in hopes to mitigate the damage already done.

If not, my bad. Just think it’s funny.

We for once wanted players to be bitter and hate each other’s guts."

Well then I’d stand corrected.

But I don’t think that was the intent.

Big whoop, there’s an event. The real question is are Legendary bosses tied to an achievement? If so, then yes, they’re there to be killed. If not, well, there’s events going on in Queensdale right this second. I better get there because the developer’s wanted me to do them. But wait, there’s also some in Fireheart Rise, and Southsun Cove, and even Auric Basin!

Point is, big deal. It’s another event. There’s thousands of them. Unless the legendaries are tied to an achievement, I doubt they’ll be killed too often. The loot they drop is crap compared to what the Noxious Pods drop. We all know that.

And your view of people hating each other just because a loot phase was set-up to be a little more difficult to get through’s straight SJW/tumblr worthy. You say people are unhelpful and selfish. I constantly see people trying to rez downed players, banners all over the place, random Aegis boons, Swiftness, and stealth. I even see players trying to thin the mobs out a little.

Point being, you make it sound like this horrible thing, but it’s really not.

Because the Labyrinth post-Vinewrath isn’t the same? How many times do you think someone’s stopped and rez’d me if I’m one of the unlucky ones who get targeted and insta-killed?

None.

It’s fine.

Labyrinth was an entirely different situation. You’re not intended by Anet to kill the wolves. These champs and legendaries are intended to be killed during this 15 minute window. That is the disconnect between Developer Design and player behavior.

The labyrinth gives a way to be invulnerable to the wolves, and also a waypoint and anvil right outside the exit.

These explorable areas in DS, might have their nearest waypoints contested. You may spend an extra 2 minutes (out of a tight 15) running back to try and get pods, and no there is no pickups to make you invulnerable to champ and legendary one shots.

I don’t think I’ve seen the nearest WP’s contested in DS once the Meta’s over. Not saying it can’t happen, but I’ve yet to see it happen.

Plot twist: Maybe instead of this supposed “disconnect between Developer Design and player behavior.” Isn’t a disconnect at all? Maybe it’s intentional to add even more value on the contents of Noxious Pods.

If that’s what they were going for, seeing as how this forum even exists, it’s working.

it can happen. I’ve been on the receiving end of that one. The legendary wyvern contested the waypoint when I got killed by the legendary mushroom emperor.

Of course, neither legendary mob got killed. Nobody even tried killing them.

If they’re not INTENDED BY ANET to be killed, why do they have events?

As I mentioned: To increase the value of the content in Noxious Pods.

400 gems for a bag slot is ridiculous...

I bought a couple a long time ago when I got my first couple of chars to 80, I bought a bag slot for each. I haven’t bought any more. For me they are too expensive to buy when you’ve got multiple level 80s. It’s not too bad if you have only one char you play but it adds up fast when you have one of each profession. If they were cheaper and soulbound or more expensive but transferable I’d be much more inclined to buy.

$4 isn’t too expensive. I’m sorry, I’m going to have to disagree with all those that claim that it is. That’s literally like, a couple of sodas, a small box of snacks, or a cheap meal at a fast food restaurant. All of which, we can do without. If money is that tight to where $4 for a convenience item is just too much despite knowing the benefits an extra 20-slots brings in an MMO; perhaps it’s time to examine what you are spending your money on and make some changes or, obviously get a ( better ) job.

I go to work just like everyone else, I’m a student like a lot of people, and I have bills like normal people. I’m not rich, but I can easily tell myself: “Hey, I want another bag slot. Instead of going to McDonald’s today for lunch break, I’ll just make myself a quick salad to bring with me to work!”. And everything works out.

ezpz

$4 times 8 times the number of bag slots per character is what adds up.

$4 times 8 chars is $32. No longer lunch at Macdonalds, but heading towards what the game itself cost to buy.

Then if you want the full 3 per char, $96.

And now I have a 9th char. Add that into your lunch at McDonald’s calculation.

My question is, why do you ‘need’ 3 extra bag slots for 9 characters? You literally have 900 kittening slots across all 9 with 20-slot bags and no extra bag expansions. I find it hard to believe that you ( or anyone else ) plays all 9 of your characters enough to justify even buying more bag slots or, needing any more inventory than what 9 characters with 20-slot bags already have. If inventory for whatever reason is an issue, buy a few for the ones you play the most. Not all 9. I bet there’s several of them ( your characters ) that haven’t even hit their inventory cap once because they’re hardly even used and, when you do use them it’s most likely in short bursts of time like a Fractal, or maybe a little map completion or PvP.

I’m not even counting Warehouse and Crafting Material storage. Nor will I count a personal Guild storage that a lot of us have.

I’m leveling a Druid right now. I haven’t decided if I’m going to like it or not, so I haven’t invested in more bags or a Copper Fed yet. Even after playing for 4 hours today, there’s not been one instance I’ve said “DANG IT! ALWAYS OUT OF INVENTORY!!??!?!!?!”. I just don’t see how it’s possible to run out of inventory space unless you have 1 character, with 4-slot bags and can’t figure out how to use the warehouse.

Have you actually looked around at other MMO’s, OP? It’s pretty common to see publishers like Aeria Games charge $10 for a 10-slot bag. Where as here in GW2, you can pay $4 and throw a 20-slot in there for no extra cash.

Let’s not factor in that we already have a base 100 max. Again, other publishers often purposefully limit that amount ( I’ve seen 10-30 being the max for a F2P player ) to heavily incentivize people buying bags; either through in-game means or from their cash shop. Either way they win, because someone’s buying a bag.

$12 for an extra 60 inventory slots is worth it. Especially in comparison to other games.

This is literally the biggest bullkitten ever.
I dont play a class with stealth so i cant pass freely through mobs and guess next time ill have to go on mesmer/thief/engi. Today i did mistake by not following zerg to noxious pods, in 15 minutes all i did was opening 5 noxious pods alone because i was dying to those legendary mobs. Even in zerg ppl dont bother to ress its just who 1st gets to pods-wins and teleport out. Great system 10/10. You might aswell delete machetes from vendor cause im stacked as kitten due to this bullkitten. Legendary mobs or pods, not both. The top of this pile of kitten is treasure mushrooms that spawns only at that time.

None of my classes have stealth either, and I usually open 10-15 Noxious Pods. Killed? A few times, but no biggy, since there’s WP’s pretty close by the “loot zones”. If I aggro, I’ll just run ahead to drop it and return.

It’s really a non-issue.

Mastery gates for raids?

I really hope you guys plan on using existing masteries to their fullest extent. Would love to see some of the raids “gated” behind having specific masteries. Itzel Poison Lore, Exalted Markings/Assistance, Nuhoch Alchemy/Stealth Detection, Stealth Gliding and even Ley Line Gliding.

All of these would make for some pretty interesting fights, and it’d be a shame to not include them because some people would rather sit on the forum and complain than get in-game, and hit up the LFG.

at first, yes its a farm to get this armor. But then again, if you get into a map that is doing the meta, you have a chance to get a free box at the end. Plus, if you have the mastery that lets you get “trophies” from any mobs, those bags can contain from 5 to 130(highest i’ve gotten) gears.

AND at minimum 3 for each Airship Cargo you open. Think I’ve got 25 a few times on those as well.

Copestetic.5174

Then don’t “hope” they’ll reach T4. Use the LFG tool to find a map that’s actively trying to achieve T4 as night-time is approaching. Most players don’t know what to do at night-time or what you get for succeeding at it, so by positioning yourself with other players in your boat who want the armour set, you’ll maximize your chances of success.

Pretty much this. Did this myself earlier this week for my chest piece. By the time you’re done with all the events, you should have enough for at least one more piece of gear from the Itzel vendors. That’d put you at 3/6, and I think the Personal Story gives you the helm, so 4/6.

Actually, the PS might get you a choice of the “smaller” pieces ( gloves, shoulders, boots etc. ) I’m not sure. I do know I have shoulders and helm that I haven’t bought from the vendors, since I’ve done HoT’s story twice now. If that’s the case, then getting a full set’s pretty darn easy if you have a couple of alts you’re willing to take through HoT for the rewards.

Would you consider playing HoT, “braindead farming”?

I’ve made probably about 200g just from playing HoT since launch. I’ve taken two characters through the expansion and working on a third. Across all three, I have about 3 stacks of Silk, tons of Elder Wood, about a stack of Ancient Wood, bookoo’s of leather mats, I know for a fact, 3 stacks of Flax, nearly 200 Ectos, etc…etc… and this isn’t figured into the amount of gold I mentioned I’ve made, this stuff’s just sitting in my character’s inventories/bank.

My point being, getting the mats required for Ascended gear seems to be pretty easy. Work on HoT achievements, level them Masteries, run a few of your characters through for the Crystilline Ore, pick-up all the Flax to sell ( still at around 6-7s each ) and sell what you don’t need.

Don’t know, doesn’t seem too hard to me.

I can look at LFG at practically any time of the day, and there’s tons of people using LFG to taxi into “org” ( organized ) maps, looking for others on the story steps/achievements, Hero Challenge farming and specific Hero Challenge help.

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Copestetic.5174

There are at least three Hero Points and one Mastery Point locked behind this mastery in Verdant Brink alone.

This is false. I think there might have been when they launched but its not true now. I have map complete and do not have the poison mastery.

Some of the mastery levels seem like things they wanted to implement but never really got around to, I am assuming some of the group will need them for raids. I can easily see running through poison to touch a switch/plate/item/etc. Or having to fight in a poison cloud or some such.

I will have to check. I hadn’t bothered going back to those points since I didn’t have the mastery.

I finished a VB map completion on a Rev yesterday; no Itzel Poison Lore required. Like I said, they’ve removed it from affecting Hero Challenges as near as I can tell. Auric Basin as well. Not sure about TD and DS, though.

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Copestetic.5174

I’ve found once you get the basic ones out of the way (1st level of each line and updrafts for gliding), working on HoT Mysteries isn’t that bad. I wander, do events and map completions, swap to alts and work on Hero Points for their specializations, help friends and guildies in HoT… and generally just try to have fun and not worry about the Masteries, and after a while I’ll notice my XP bar has filled up. Weee!

Agreed. The old adage of a watched pot never boiling is very on point here.

I did SW for the pack mastery and before I know it I was done. Relax and enjoy the scenery you will get there eventually.

Quoting again for truth!

I have 31 Mastery’s in HoT and 10 in core Tyria ( Legendary track, almost done with it! ), just from playing the game. In HoT, I run around and do events mainly. If I’m on an empty overflow map then I’ll pop some boosters if I have some, Halloween food/utility for 15% more experience, and start killing mobs since they’re so dense.

Same for core Tyria, except I’m also doing map completion on a Revenant before I hop on over to HoT. It’s really not that hard folks.

Is terrible. This dude’s been killed 3 times, spent around 700 years in one afterlife or another, and has gone to Hell ( Realm of Torment ). Where his “soul” is now ( since we killed him in Gate of Madness ) is up in the air, but I think it’s safe to assume it’s not a place that’s too pleasant.

My question is, is why he acts like us channeling him is a minor nuisance? And, if he’s really in a worse place than the Realm of Torment was, why would he ever want us to “release” him?

Now, I realize it’d be kind of insulting to his character if when we channeled him he was crying, begging us not to “release” him back to whatever Hell he’s spending eternity in now, but you could have at least had his voice actor portray all that anger he had instead of this weird, “Oh how cute, a mortal’s summoning me.” attitude he has now.

lol I think the bulk of my experience gain is strictly from killing enemies. If I’m on a non-meta map ( which is often since I’m getting a lot of crashes since HoT ), I’ll pop some boosters, food, utility and start the rampage. Most of the time I’m netting more experience than had I participated in an event since, a lot of people skip trash which gives bonus exp. the longer they’re alive.

What would a Legendary Revenant do?

Thought Rytlock was the first Revenant?

Honestly based on the concept art for the Revenant I was under the assumption that Razah was the first revenant.

Razah is a Ritualist ( unless you change his profession ). And that isn’t Razah’s concept art. Unless I’ve missed something somewhere.

Thought Rytlock was the first Revenant? Not sure if we’d be channeling another Revenant anytime soon. However, we could definitely channel a Ritualist from GW1. There’s plenty to choose from like Xandra, Duncan the Black, or even Master Togo. There’s also a plethora of skills in the Ritualist line that featured “heroes” of Cantha’s past. For instance Attuned was Songkai, and Vengeful was Khanhei. So tons to work with.

Personally, I hope we get a Ritualist up next to channel. Would love to have one that was a Spirit Spammer!

I actually thought the bundle was great. A nice glider, outfit, and some other things that I’ve forgot about.

I hope there’s more bundles like this, personally.

HoT is not soloable

Copestetic.5174

Finished HoT yesterday. Only thing I partied up with people for was to get in good Meta maps. Outside of those few, I’ve done tons of events, and threw up boosters and enjoyed killing tons of crap -solo- for exp. This also includes several pre-nerfed Champion Hero Challenges.

It’s not hard.

With him gone, we can take over the Pact since we’re second in command, we get all the credit, and no one has to listen to him again. It’s lame.

That’s what you think. They’re going to need a Marshal in the background, not on the battlefield to deal with the various commanding from afar should things go wrong. A possible person for this job could be Laranthir himself, unless Glint’s child takes the role.

And enrage the community more than Trehearne already has? Yes, that’s a wonderful idea. Lets remove the leader of the Pact and then randomly appoint some new person to be our new boss. Hell, they even made us the leader of DE 2.0 despite the fact that it was Marjory that brought everyone together, it was Marjory who already had the investigation company, and it was Marjory who had all the detective skills that were needed at the time. Marjory should be the leader, not us, but because the community can’t seem to handle anyone but them being the most important person in the room she suddenly defers to us at the beginning of LS2 as if that had always been the case.

No, we have absolutely zero business being the leader of the Pact, but based on how chain of command works we ARE the leader of the Pact now.

This guy gets it.

ArenaNet, please tell the story you want to tell, not what the community wants it to be.

I think the biggest risk is getting a crash.

Disappointed with RNG, opened 1000 ToT Bags

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Copestetic.5174

Of course the “good” stuff is locked away by insanely low RNG. There’s thousands and thousands of people farming thousands and thousands of bags each day. To have a 30% chance at getting all the expensive crap would break any and all value they hold and would likely leave the content a barren wasteland after a week.

anet when are u going to fix this?
this is really really annoying and game breaking.

Getting the same thing since HoT went live. I’ve crashed so many kitten times on Tarir and VB that I’m to the point that I’m not going to bother doing them anymore until I hear they’ve fixed it or, at the very least, acknowledge it’s an issue.

Game Crashing all the time.

HoT Meta events crash 90% of the time for me. I’ve completed 2 VB’s and maybe 3 Auric Basin since HoT’s launch. It’s pretty much guaranteed that I’m going to crash.

GTX 770 4gb SC
i5-4690k
Windows 10 64-bit

Ran the game flawlessly prior to HoT on max settings outside of WB’s, where I’d dip in the upper teens for FPS. I think since I’ve had this PC, I’ve crashed 1 time on Tequatl. Now it’s every HoT meta.

The new Ebb sword skin.

Copestetic.5174

It is a really nice skin. I was hoping there was a sister weapon for it; flow. That way you could wield both Ebb and Flow. Too lame? lol

Actually, there is a Flow. It’s a warhorn that matches the Ebb sword.

Warhorn called flow, and sword called Ebb. Both water themed. Elementalist just got warhorn but first dataminig were sword……hmmm gets me thinking

Ah, that kind of stinks. Is that the warhorn that’s all white? Looks more like a cloud? If it’s the one I’m thinking of, that’s a little disappointing. lol

I see the future, Anet will nerf raid because lots of forum warrior QQ

This is a lot of people’s fear, and it’s rightly justified to feel this way. The same people that gave bad reviews and complained here and on reddit will do a repeat of that to trivialize Raids.

The new Ebb sword skin.

It is a really nice skin. I was hoping there was a sister weapon for it; flow. That way you could wield both Ebb and Flow. Too lame? lol

Like to add that after a few minutes our Guild stuff came back online. However, once in the Guild Hall, it looks like EVERYTHING is unlocked, NO NPC’s, and Mordrem vines all over the place that have no collision.

For those people who want some prestigious feeling, go PvP or later Raid and fractal leaderboard.

Those are places you can stand out. The elite unlocking is not.

For now.

Raid’s will most likely get nerfed as well. Just make sure you kids hit up the forums to complain and, on gaming websites to give bad reviews about them when they go live.

Our goal was always to have elite specializations as a part of character progression, but it’s clear that a segment of our players was so excited about the elite specialization system and abilities that they really wanted to experience most of the expansion with them unlocked.

This translates into: kitten it, we tried guys! We wanted to give you guys something cool to work towards in Heart of Thorns, but the 90’s kids got kittened and gave us bad reviews, so we had to nerf it!

Since they specifically pointed out that a major reason for the change wasn’t because they personally felt it was too high, but because they didn’t properly communicate that it would be high to players before the fact…

I expect the next batch of E-specs to be as hard if not harder than this one, but with plenty of warning to people that you won’t be getting this day 1.

They mentioned several times people won’t be able to just go in and “master” their Elite Specialization. They did warn. People are just too kitten entitled these days. It’s that simple.
