That makes no Sense Dante.1763 because I THINK their goal is the casuals…
If they change 1 or 2 hours will be really good for EU + South America.Only USA I don’t think is enough to stress test or to achieve the goals they have in mind.
Sadly we don’t really know their goal. No, this is stress testing, not content polling. They have no goal to get any particular demographic within the playerbase, they just need to see if the servers can handle the content they have made, and all they need for that is numbers.
Yet again it all comes down to: beta is not a demo.
Well I only run a few low level fractals every now and then with my power necro, but I haven’t had any issues.
So for the Netherlands (GMT +2) that would be?
20:30 – 22:30
00:30 – 02:30
04:30 – 06:30
Guess I’m only playing in the first block then.
lvl too fast people complains…. level too hard and too slow also people complains…. i wonder how people measure the word “too”….
It’s almost like GW2 has a diverse player base and anecdotal evidence isn’t very useful
All content no matter the difficulty it brought low by time and repetition. When Tequatl was remade it was pretty difficult, now it’s a casual farm. The same for many of the dungeons.
I don’t think the problem is that content is too easy, more that we’re not getting enough new and varied content.
We took a week off of elite specs for what?

If people would stop acting like kids, maybe they’d stop being treated that way.
To be honest I think a fair number of GW2 player are in fact kids. I think you meant to say unreasonable or irrational.
They are dragon minions, whether they know it or not, waiting for their master’s call… waiting to hear…
The Bloop of Bubbles!
As cute as I believe quaggan to be… you’re on to something.
And I believe that Peneloopee and Bloomanoo are the most insidious of all… think about it they were in Kessex Hill during the Tower of Nightmare. Coincidence maybe. But guess what happened when they went to LA? It got attacked! And when they went to the world summit, it got attacked! I can’t be the only one who finds it suspicious that those two Quaggan are there whenever something goes wrong…
It’s an exclusive armour that can only be achieved through… well through grinding AP like a mad person… but let’s say though being a veteran player. A full set basically tells you: this fella is awesome (or something in that line).

Given the huge number of game breaking bugs introduced on May 19th – which appeared to be a relatively minor patch – I would suggest that if you do return pre-HoT, you come with a grim sense of humor.
Sure lots of bugs. Haven’t most of them been fixed? I think a lot of them were fixed in the subsequent days.

You know, most weapons arent even used due to meta. Why throw in more weapons?
Because diversity in and of itself is a good thing?
Is it though?
Probably not, that’s why I used the question mark :P
So you’re on their forums why?
I’d imagine he / she and similar persons basically stick around in order to complain and criticize.
Cons:
Poor dungeons
Poor Boss mechanics
Poor weapon variety (hence the topic)
Poor meaty content (hopefully the expansion takes care of this)
In the case of dungeons I do very much think ANet agrees with you, hence the lack of dungeon love.
Boss mechanics are getting better though. We saw a large improvement in S2.
i’m still willing to bet if GW1 had GW2’s graphics & movement (including the ability to jump), noone would be playing GW2.
I’ve got 2 character pre-searing. The combat is so horrid (well for me, but even my own personal opinion is still sufficient to counter the absolute claim) I’m not sure if I’ll ever return (probably only for HoM points but… eh).
No one knows! NO ONE! I doubt even Anet knows.
Sorry I’ve just seen way too many ETA threads lately.
Or… legendary armor XD
Which all seems to ignore the fact that Anet seems to have little ability (in house skills perhaps or simply using a closed platform) to make substantial changes to the forum functionality.
I am just curious OP, how long have you been playing, and what exactly do you do for leveling?
If you pvp all day every day, you should have at least one level 80 in less than 2 weeks, unless you lose a lot.
i stopped playing for a long time, i played spvp every day when it first came out.
Ah yes they didn’t have the new reward tracks back then.
If you ask me, I would remove precursors from Mystic Toilet and made them account-bound (no trading), but increased boss drop rate to 1%. Maybe bosses should drop a box of precursors to choose one from (like ascended chests), so you avoid getting three aquatic precursors.
1% drop rate seems extremely high though.
I’ll shamelessly use a online calculator for this one (http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/13/drop-chance-probability/) cause you know math and stuff.
By boss I’ll assume you mean world boss. There’s several of them but let’s assume you do 10 a day. After a week (70 bosses) you’d have a 50% chance of gotten a pre-cursors, after 2 weeks you’re up to 75 percent, 3 weeks is 87% and after a month (say 30 days) you’d have a 90% chance of having gotten a pre-cursors.
With a 1% drop rate basically everyone would have a pre-cursors in the first month.
I’m glad that we will be able to craft precursors. I just wish that crafting in GW2 wasn’t so boring. It feels so unrewarding.
You level up crafting to get ability to craft high level stuff. What else do you want.
Which is actually a very good question. How can crafting not be boring?
With 1% boss-drop chance (which would be reasonably high, if precursors would be accound-bound), you never know when you’ll get one. Currently, the drop chance from bosses is 0.1% or 0.01%, which is discouraging, to say the least.
Granted I’m using online calculator (so if might all be wrong) but 1% is very high.
Is that a gauranteed 1%? If i kill a boss 100 times, one precursor will drop?
Apparently not please see http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/13/drop-chance-probability/
Well if you’ve really got your heart set on getting to 80 asap then try the Edge of the Mists. It’s basically a karma train but you get a lot of XP as well.
Although I do kinda feel like you’re missing out on the fact that the open world PvE experience really isn’t that bad.

Have you tried Living Story S2 perhaps?
So you’re against the idea of allow legendaries to be achieved through multiple means? But what about people who like crafting?
I have 2 accounts that i farm on at same time and the amount of gold i make is 500g+.
Oh that’s sounds somewhat suspicious, hopefully you’re not using any bots or something. I’m not sure how ANet feels about multiboxing in general though.
The 500 gold a week was due to an RMT crackdown. According to their analysis of mailed gold, only a very few innocent people would be affected by this. I’m sorry if you are one of them but that’s the way it is.
For the good of the many I guess.
You know, most weapons arent even used due to meta. Why throw in more weapons?
Because diversity in and of itself is a good thing?
Well I know the Zepherites tried to fund the reconstruction… not sure if being blown up sort of prevented said resources from reaching LA though.
Well firstly that introduces the usually nonsense around homosexual relationships (but I think ANet has already taken a strong pro stance here so probably not a problem), then there’s the question of… how and why? I mean what would be the benefit of a in-game marriage system as apposed to a couple of RPers getting together and doing their own marriage thing? And if they did implement it, well that’s a very RP kinda thing and GW2 hasn’t been to RP friendly as far as I know.
Coming soon, Battle for LA 2.0: Consortium Edition.
Well the embassy idea seems to have some potential.
I’m fine with gemstore costumes. Would however love more in-game armor-sets though. I kinda think people have resigned themselves to only (or at least primarily) getting new armor via the gemstore.
No, don’t save them! Sick of their constant “goo” and “coo”. Slaughter them, slaughter them all!
Foo!
That seems to be a thing all over the city- the Consortium are building them offsite and will airlift them in.
Am I the only one finding this new found faith in the Consortium disturbing?
Has anyone noted if there’s any change to NPC chatter outside LA? That’s always been a big disappointment for me, how huge world changes don’t affect the gossip anywhere else. I’d love to find some other city NPCs commenting on it.
Think it’s a matter of time and effort versus visibility. It would be nice if they did this, but 90% of the playerbase wouldn’t even notice.
Yes, yes Karka please!
Apply the lessons learned from Silverwastes to Southsun Cove!
Agreed.
What if HoT is nothing more than a glorified over hyped map like SW. Do you remember all the advertising for how awesome SW was going to be?
SW was awesome. But since it has been the only new content for months now…
Somebody stole Aslan…where is the outcry?
BRING BACK OUR LION!
OCCUPY LION’S COURT!
I hope that’s not the case and the “special thing” to take place of specialization reveal this week is not LA…
Well it’s a very small announcement overall, smaller even than that week that they only talked about the (all be it awesome) frogs.
It would be kinda sad if they don’t have anything to show come PoI or Ready Up this Friday. So I’m hoping they’ll still announce something (guild halls!) and then be able to discuss it further come Friday
What’s funny to me is that I get the feeling the next round of elite specs aren’t ready to present.
Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. Still doesn’t necessarily mean you’re wrong either.
No matter what it is people would be disappointed.
I’m a people
That’s what they want you to think :P
No, housing is something I never use, it’s just not my cup of tea.
Fair enough. I think when it comes to features like this is usually comes down to the player benefit (or maybe interest?) vs implementation challenge. For example something like guild halls will probably see a lot of usage and give players a lot of new things to do. Not sure how player housing measures up. Obviously I’m all for player housing (I’m all for any new feature) but its really up to Anet to decide if it’s worth the time and effort.
Lol you’re all silly if you think this is the “big news” they are going to talk about on Friday. They have been covering HoT stuff the past 3 weeks or so; I’m positive it will be HoT related.
Remember when we had a week about frogs?
I do.
I all fairness, those were some awesome frogs.
Well I’m not sure if add more rewards will necessarily increase replay-ability… well all it does it encourage farming. Which I guess is replay-ability for some, but I think it’s a cheap (and not necessarily in a positive sense of the word) way of achieving it.
In my case it was about 150mb before it was playable so not too bad.
It would be nice if we could have a portal from our home instance to the guild house. I don’t think the reverse would be possible since there are ‘home’ instances in every city, unless it automatically took you to your racial home instance.
Would probably work like http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Home_Portal_Stone
Reaper Hype: People Blinded By Aesthetics?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: CureForLiving.5360
I must admit a lot of my hype is because they just look so cool. And I love greatswords… my love of greatswords goes back many years to the days of FF7 and Berserk.
This wouldn’t be too bad. Small problem though is in motivating players to take part in it. Usually ANet does this via achievements and special rewards (skins, items etc.).
Looks like the special surprise is that we get to watch NPC’s work on LA!!!
Now all ANet needs to do is mall all the players a complementary whip, so we can… help motivate the workers to get on with it already. They’ve certainly been taking their time so far.
Housing? I’m all for it.
Although it seems this expansion they’re introducing Guild Halls so we’d probably only see it as part of a future expansion. Depending on how they do Guild Halls it might be possible to port some of the tech over.
Someone linked a portal drop yesterday?
I’ve heard about these drops as well. Not sure if it wasn’t just trolling.
Instead of living story they would be better off adding more dynamic events. Make them more detailed and longer chains.
I certainly would love to see a bit more of ANet refining their older content (particularly given that they’ve come a long way since launch). However not sure if I’d necessarily sacrifice Living Story
And historically, any time new events have been added to the world, they’ve been largely ignored, unless the living story has “encouraged” people to do them. Think of the toxic spore events, which were all added.
More dynamic events will always be welcome. But yeah you’re right in the end they tend to be largely ignored. Players don’t really have reason to stay and experience all the stories in a given map (or for that matter a means to do so effectively).
You are aware that they have added plenty of dynamic events since release, right?
The point exactly, they tend to be overlooked.
If they did them right they wouldn’t be ignored. The event chains need to be much longer and show some progression. And they need to not be undone completely overnight because no one was playing that map. For example when humans take over centaur camps they should actually construct human settlements rather than just have a few human npcs standing in a centaur camp. Get it to the point where you can do an event chain where you turn a centaur camp into an entire fort by doing events. That shows real progression in the world. Then the centaurs start using siege weapons to try to tear it down. Etc.
This would be wonderful. Kinda take a lot of work to do though.
I’m not sure that’s the way to go. I think dynamic events tend to be lost on people, because even though some people do like them (myself included) dynamic events don’t really offer progression. They cycle. They repeat over and over again.
Maybe progression is the wrong word to use, but some sort of pseudo progression. Let’s say to build the fort takes a month of doing hundreds of events (not necessarily all unique but still. Collecting materials, transport, building etc.), and over that period the fort is slowly raised and expanded. This would give the perception of progress. Granted when the fort is complete I’m not sure what you do with it. Defend it I guess? If you fail it gets destroyed (bit by bit) so you’re constantly going from no fort to full fort and potentially different types of events throughout the various stages.
But like I said, this is probably too much effort to implement.
In almost all WoW expansions, you get new dungeons & raids, new pvp maps & modes, new continents & zones, new classes, new races, new crafting professions, new gear, new mounts & pets, new skills & talents, new game mechanics, new quests & stories, new arenas, etc. And this is just the expansions. After that, they constantly update the game throughout the expansion’s lifetime (the exception is WoD so far).
Just for the sake of clarification, new races, classes and professions tend to be few and far between (you’re making it seem like every expansion has all of them).
But otherwise I’d agree that they tend to add fairly large new areas. Kinda sucks they don’t have a scaling system (last I checked) and with their quest system you don’t tend to get a lot of mileage out of the maps though.
I think, Anet was just experimenting and didn’t exactly know if they want to release only LS or expansions. In the end they new the benefits of an expansion as well as the fans asking for it. Hence it took so long.
I think this was a large part of it. That and China.
So it’s very nice that for you the LS works, still the LS is no expansion and did not deliver what many people expect from an expansion / what they wanted. That makes the LS irrelevant. Sure, it is what Anet had in mind (LS as a way to release expansion-like content) but it’s not how many players experience the LS.
So because it’s not an expansion it’s irrelevant? Irrelevant in regards to what?
(like a true B2P game like Gw1)
I was sure GW1 had an cash shop? Guess not then.
If you don’t count the current wait yes, but we’ve been without an update for 4 months now
Surely they could’ve planned it a bit better
As much nonsense as this 3 year business is, I have to agree 4 months is kinda… just give us SAB already :_(
Anet spoiled us early with updates so frequent, I didn’t know how they did it.
Which is exactly the problem! Expectation management :P
So a bit back on topic. I was watching GuildGab https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g8TsAZiJFG4 and around the end they start talking about profession lore. This really really brought up just how silly ANet would be if they didn’t do profession lore in-game.
Its a expansion ofc we get dungeons
Pretty sure they said that we aren’t, at least not tied to the expansion.
They didn’t say that. They didn’t say anything either way. Which most people assumed means no.
I find it a bit sad. Necros wanted shouts.
I didn’t really want shouts, well more apathetic towards it. I just wanted greatsword that cleaves. So I’m happy.
I’m trying to figure out the armor pieces from the video. It’s hard with dull dark colors on a dark though burning background. But it does seem likely they’ll put the Grenth hood back in the gem store …
Shoulders are Arah, i can tell you that much
GS is probably the specialisation skin. Hopefully we’ll get something else, Dragonhunters seems to be getting bow and gloves. Although not sure if Chrono gets 2 skins as well.

The head piece appears to be the new armor skin you unlock with the Reaper. From what I’ve seen over on Massively, shoulders, gloves, chest, and legs are all Arah Dungeon armor. Can’t get a clear enough look at the boots to figure out if they’re the last piece in the set though.
Oh… the nazgul hood. It fits though… doesn’t really do it for me but it’s not horrible.

With summer approaching
Jip I can really feel that summer coming under my blanket…
Oh wait you’re being a Northern-Hemisphere-ist :P
But on point, yeah sure why not. Speedos for all.
As a Necro/Warrior, these players are no longer just a mid to back line threat. Now, they can have a dual role, playing it safe from the back line by casting conditions and CCs, and instantly switch to a high powered melee dealer in the Reaper mode. Traiting with Chill focused sigils and runes, and you’ll be able to effectively control groups of targets within zergs. Add in some PTV armors for sustainability, and that’ll give you some time to pull off your Gravedigger attack within enemy groups.
I don’t think you’re going to be to able to spec a Necro to be both good at range condi and close range zerker. Not to mention we don’t even know if the condi changes are going to finally make condi a bit more viable.
Rather like the pyramid head comparison. Although if they’re not dragging their massive greatswords on the ground it might not feel apt.
