There has been tonnes of new content added…
but you can’t play it because it was temporary.
^ this. And they even started to remove purchasable weapon skins.
Yep one of my many pet peeves about the game.
The ferocity didn’t cure the zerker problem and the new traits didn’t make the trait system anymore diverse.
I hope you have a level 80 there OP.
And this is why you don’t come to the forum to know how the games going, us forum dwellers you see are mostly here to voice our complaints (or just pulled like 8 hours in GW2… so tired) or thoughts on possible improvements.
Not much of a suggestions (I assumed some interesting new mechanics). But yes this seems like a good enough idea. The only problem of course is that you’re giving the stick without the carrot in sight. This system is intended to only punish players for succeeding, without benefit to them. Usually you’d give them better rewards the more ‘levels’ they’re able to defend through.
Skins will be available for a long time on the tradepost. There will always be people selling them. I don’t understand what is the issue. I agree with Anet that skins should be removed, there are way too many of them right now.
Because giving us more choices is bad?
Removing unpopular skins from the merchant seems like a reasonable action to me. It has the added benefit of adding some future cachet to the affected skins.
“ANet is removing skins that almost no one wants,” seems like an odd complaint.
What if I want some of those skins? Or in your mind is it fine for the few to suffer for the choices of the many?
I don’t think the uproar is over which ones they are taking out but just the fact that they are taking things out. Especially now that we have a wardrobe and can actually build to unlock those things. Ones that I would never have considered before, I would like to be able to unlock the skin of someday. Especially all of the wintersday items.
Basically voicing my thought here. This is going to be a thorn in my side for the rest of time I play GW2, suddenly my wardrobe will have even more un-fillable holes.
I’m getting tired of this game. All what I’m doing there – it’s trying to save money in time to buy something that will soon be removed from the game. And hastily make achievements until they decided to remove too. It no longer brings pleasure. A game in which nothing is permanent. Everything is not for sure.
Do you even want a scelerite skin?
Not my first choice, but there’s a couple of them that don’t look bad. So I’d say yeah I’d want some.
I want ALL skins. That’s the problem. This is my “style” of play. And the game (would seem to be) designet precisely betting on this, with all of these collection cells, minis, wardrobe, not necessary equipment grind etc.
Collect until you get tired…
However, developers are constantly rushed. Collect all is simply impossible. Need huge infusion of money (unaffordable for me (and I, let’s say so, pay much MUCH more than the cost of subscription in most games).
When you realize that developers destroy something that you aspire to, the game dramatically ceases to give pleasure. And this happens in GW2 almost every month.
yeah I’m feel punished for not playing the game how ANet wanted, not spending all my money on keys.

Megaserver is good and bad. It’s good that zones aren’t empty anymore, that I get to meet a bunch of new players (some are nice, some are not but those are in the minority. Hear people have other experiences though… maybe because I’m in the RU region?). However it does have some draw back, specifically in terms of temple events, large guild events. Apparently some people have issues with non-english speakers but I don’t really get that one myself. However for the more casual players they’ll hardly see any downside.
Anyway see you in the merged thread.
GZ, I don’t have a single legendary or precursor… so lucky you.
It wouldn’t surprise me if the gods themselves had a hand in it, especially those ruined rings that seem to span the whole island. We already know that Orr was far ahead of Ascalon in magic, from those scrolls in Malchor’s Leap. As for why the gods did it for, I guess with that kind of power it’s not such a difficult thing to do just for aesthetics.
Well as the gods use to call Orr home I’d say pretty good change they had a helping hand.
Technically, we don’t know if Zhaitan is dead dead or simply defeated/knocked out.
It’s been confirmed by ANet staff that Zhaitan is really dead. No more, bereft of life, pushing up the daisies, et cetera.
In fact, back in Beta, his corpse was visible in Arah explorable mode, both on the map and in the zone itself. For whatever reason they took it out before release.
Well he’s technically always been dead… undead that is.
It would be a major policitical issue, but that’s what makes it interesting.
That’s what I’ve been going on about since the attack on LA. So many interesting political story lines. At the least politics might be more interesting than single super-Villain.
Besides, the Pact already has headquarters, and one that doesn’t conflict with the way the story and time is set in maps – Fort Trinity. On that matter, I’d be interested in seeing Fort Trinity grow as the pact readies up for the next task and become a small military city- of course, that’d require some major changes in certain personal story missions.
I’d always assumed Fort Trinity was the forward based for the assault on Zhaitan. Logistically speaking it was a good choice, however its a bad choice if you’re attacking a Elder Dragon on the opposite side of Tyria.
LA is a major port city. We might not have seen the ships coming and going, but they did.
Yeah but Asura gates basically render all conventional means of transport and shipping obsolete. It was only the costs involved (discussed somewhere else in the Lore forum) that really stopped them from completely taking over. Frankly the Asura could have completely ruined LA as a major port city if they wanted (even if they couldn’t decrease the costs, simply running at a loss for a couple of months would have taken all business away from LA).
He REALLY is a big mystery. Just like the tower’s own awareness that was probably linked to his consciousness. I really hope that they will do more with this and not just drop the plot-thread. Asidefromlookingcool,IfoundtheHybridreallyinteresting.
Also liked it’s design. I had always assumed that the tower was a imitation / mock Mother Tree, able to produce its own type of Sylvari. Something that the nightmare court would obviously be very interested in (seeing as how they’re current means of increasing there ranks are rather slow). Although that theory itself brings up a number of questions.
Actually Konig that gave me a thought.
/equips tinfoil hatWhat if it’s not the first hybrid after all? What if Scarlet created something on a smaller scale like him before? After all, somehow she got those mysterious seeds from (current plothole) and /knew/ the result would be something krait-shaped and living coming out of the plant.
/puts tinfoil hat on tinfoil hat
As any good scientists she’d probably do a couple of experiments, at the very least to ensure the viability. Also a prototype-profit would have gone a long way in helping convince the krait to join her alliance. But sadly no lore to support it.
Or what if she obtained the seeds from a location Modremoth showed her and the stalk was pretty much a means to create champions and she’s convinced it was her own plan to make the poison and yet the voices in may make her believe she was just doing his bidding. Angry Scarlet is angry. Cough, cough. /tinfoil-mode over
Going back to my corrupted Mother Tree theory, maybe she got her hand on one of the other Mother Tree seeds?
In Angel’s words “[Scarlet] has created this hybrid of krait and nightmare that, that is really nightmarish, if you’ll pardon my using the same word again. Um, so, she’s telling everyone that this is, this is the prophet. The krait believe her. She’s basically incubated a normal krait inside the, a pod on the, on the plant, and as it has become infused with the toxins from this plant, uh, in, in great quantity, it has evolved, and it comes out, and, um, you fight it.”
Well there goes the corrupted Mother Tree theory, since it would only hold up if the Hybrid was a krait shaped plant (in the same way that Sylvari are human shaped and fern hounds dog shaped). However interesting enough, if the speculation holds, we might have a good idea what Mordies corruption looks like.

So it’s not much of a ‘debunked and forgotten’ as much as it is “Anet’s so secretive about their story that there’s too little to build solid theories with so why even bother.”
Yeah… ANet really really should top doing that.
At least this is better then the crazy theory crafting I saw ingame about the Shadow of the Dragon actually appearing as a new world megaboss with the jungle dragon awakening…
Well, there is that empty space in the current boss rotation, and iirc it’s in one of the “big” boss spots…
From a purely technical stand point copy pasting a model is a lot easier than creating a new one. Using the existing model means they’d only have to focus on some animation and attacks. So I think its likely.
ANet don’t seem to lack resources for creating new models. I would be surprised if they re-used models for Mordremoths champions. The champions don’t even have to resemble dragons, or at least not all of them. Some sort of giant earth and plant based behemoths wouldn’t be surprising.
Yes, but resources are still finite, the time spent on a new model could also be spent somewhere else.
Back in the start (wow I have been playing too long) the rumour was that ANet didn’t want it because it broke emergence or something. It was kinda silly back then as well not having it.
It does, otherwise they wouldn’t do it. That’s not to say that it doesn’t tick off a portion of their player base though.
Yes, like me. Oh come one, I can sort of understand LW skins and items, since you do sort of earn them, but removing RND items? How many chests have I opened only to get a couple of boosters? This feels like punishing me for not being luck.
Yeah yeah just had to get that rant out of the way. I’d always though that Black Lions weapon skins where the sort of think you could slowly earn over a long time given their RND nature.
Can you even get sclerite weapons with black lion tickets?
yes, they’re 3 tickets each
And how many black lion chests is that?
Probably a good thing they are being removed, they never were very popular.
They’ve been out for a year and still only cost 3 tickets, most weapons go to 5 or 7 tickets within a couple months. Never see anyone using them.
Still seems like a silly reason to remove them. Anet has been criticized numerous times for all the temporary content that they have put out, and now they’re removing skin items too?
Yeah, I was kinda hoping after Season 1, that they’d realise that players don’t like temporary content…
However removing weapon skins is just dumb, particularly when they’ve introduced the wardrobe system that displays all possible skins right there in a single window. Instead of removing them from the vendors, they should just make those skins directly purchasable in three easy steps:
1) Open wardrobe.
2) Right click locked skin.
3) Select “Buy with <x> Black Lion Tickets” or “Buy with <y> Gems”.
This. I’d actually be willing to spend some gems rather then play the lotto for some of those skins. Removing them… feels wrong. Besides the currently the store is a bit, low on content.
Is this simply a cash grab? Even if it was, how many players are going to spend or afford 30 scraps per skin? And that is for scelerite only. Why remove these items, I just don’t understand AN’s thinking some times.
It’s very very bad business strategy. They’re hoping to cash in on the impulse buyers, the OCD collectors etc. To get these items you need to play the lotto, this could mean 10 Dollars or a 100 Dollars thanks to the RND. With a bit of sunk cost fallacy, you’d see a short term bump in sales. Too bad they’re also kinda screwing us players who only occasionally but a couple of keys and who slowly collect scraps to one day in the future spend them on weapon skins.
great, take even MORE STUFF OUT OF THE GAME… what is wrong with making NEW CONTENT instead of removing content? Most game companies ADD things, not take things away…
Add wardrobe, remove skins… makes complete sense to me. Removed pretty much the only other reason to go to southsun in the process… I want to use words that will get me an infraction here. STOP REMOVING CONTENT or maybe one day we’ll stop supporting such behavior!
Is the southsun merchant for these skins going away too or is this just the black lion weapons guy cause the interface sucks for merchants?
That sir is not the attitude we want right now but it’s the attitude we need right now.
My advice, take a break. You don’t have to play GW2, its not a sub game so you can pick it up and put it down as you like. Maybe when they’ve finally released new content you can take another look.
A lot of issues around rewards I’d say relates to RND. But the game does become rewarding given enough time and effort, it’s just that over the short term you’d probably not feel all that rewarded. Probably something ANet can look at.
Neither AI or Zerkers are the problem. Players will always find the optimum strategy. In this case it’s zerkers and stacking. If ANet were to implement better AI, players will simply find a new strategy.
But that said, some changes would be nice, dungeons are getting a bit routine (since players have already decided on the hand full of dungeons which require the least input and produce the most benefit from running).
here’s what you do.
logout
uninstall your gw2
throw your computer in the garbage
???
profit
Not sure if that’s a troll post or bad application of sarcasm. Either way, bad on you I say.
First, I am not a lawyer, nor am I trained in any legal profession. For real legal advice, you should hire a lawyer.
Report this to ArenaNet, either in-game or through a support ticket, and report it to the police. I have no doubt ArenaNet will take this very seriously. They might decide to report the incident to the police as well, on top of banning the account; however you should not assume that happens, nor that the authorities ArenaNet makes the report to follow through on it.
You should file a police report of your own.
In cases like this context is important. Also being a online game it might be impossible for local police to do anything (if the person is in another country). Assuming everything is as it appears, then at the very least Anet should take action.
Well we don’t know if the cycle is natural or not, it seems to pre-dates any currently living race (there is indication that the cycle was going on before the dwarves and jotun and the rest). Second we don’t know if the amount of magic is finite or infinite. It’s possible that there is only so much magic and that even after full release the impact of which would not be too dangerous.
There isn’t much lore around the EDs unfortunately, so it’s all pretty much speculation.
I think that the complaining has gotten worse since the end of LW S1. More likely its a self feeding loop of hate, a meme (in the sense of the selfish gene), a example of cryptomnesia. Or to put it simpler I think everyone just jumped on the LW-hate-bandwagon without knowing it.
Well since ANet is sitting on the entire S1 Living World, I doubt that us in the none Chinese regions can wait until China has experienced the entire S1 (which took us over a year), unless they rush it out in China. I’m actually hoping that they don’t sync them up, otherwise either we wait a long time for new content or China loses a large chunk of Living World. Unless they make S1 permanent in both regions… wink wink or at the very least allow us to reply it in some manner.
You only get those if you’re under attack while harvesting. It’s more likely as you take more damage. It’s also practically guaranteed if you have a trait that activates when you’re hit.
Not true lately – I have been getting them on occasion (along with those dandelions) when absolutely nothing is in sight. I estimate a very low (like 1-2%) over the period of a night’s play.
This started happening prior to the April 15 patch for me. It doesn’t happen often, but it is confusing.
I chalked it up to “game rolled a certain vendor value worth of resources to give me on a harvest, and the junk is just how it rounds it off”.
Ok so another possibility, with every time you mine there’s a change of getting something extra. Maybe this also is being affected by DR? Maybe not only loot gets worse the more you play but also any bonuses that you harvest.
Really? Mind you my gathering tools are so old they’re still soul bound (wonder if I can still exchange them?) and I’ve never had any issues with ruined ore. Might be a bug with some of the more recent gathering tools.
Yes, you can exchange them for the account bound ones. Just talk to a Black Lion representative near any Trading Post in town.
Oh thanks
I haven’t been able to complete it either. I think however my problem probably relates to the fact that I get in on one of those Megaservers with too few people. I guess if I camp out a bit before the event, ensures I was on one of the fuller servers but meh
Nice to know that there are still people enjoying the game on the forums. Hope you enjoy your experience as much as I have.
Really? Mind you my gathering tools are so old they’re still soul bound (wonder if I can still exchange them?) and I’ve never had any issues with ruined ore. Might be a bug with some of the more recent gathering tools.
Here’s a serious suggestion: remove the megaservers…
lol no
FIX the megaservers. Give capital cities back to home worlds. Lower the population limit for players who stray into the zone. Add/increase the limit for those who taxi in with other party members.
Oh, and replace the anti-swear word kitten for puppeh. Dogs need love too.
Yeah, I don’t miss running around Orr all alone. But yes improvements need to be made.
They can’t stop people from trying e-mail addresses and guessing passwords.
Would you rather have ANet not ask if you’re trying to log in from China?
And if the e-mail from ANet keeps vanishing, and not simply being labeled as spam, then that’s a sign that the hackers already have access to your email account. Change your e-mail password now.
Yeah, emails don’t delete themselves outside of the spam bin. Good sign that they’re in his email. Although if they were they could just reset his password and be done with it. Seems however that they’re continuously trying to get in.
However on one of my emails I am receiving a lot of phising mails. It could be that at least some of these message hee’s receiving aren’t from ANet.
Seriously, I had this game installed for 5 hours of game time, realised what it was then switched off. Now I’m getting straight up harassed by this games mailing system.
Well seeing as how you’re not a player, why not change the email? Now I don’t necessarily mean change it to some made up email (in case you want to try the game again, although judging by your tone…), but don’t you have a hardly used email? Perhaps create a new email and use that for your ANet account, that way you won’t have to worry about receiving emails on your usual email.
Relentless Attempts to Hack into Account
in Account & Technical Support
Posted by: CureForLiving.5360
There is something going very wrong, 4th member of my guild is getting hacked the same way (we have like 50 active players). Some of them has extreme computer security, authentication on e-mail, more of the best spyware and antivirus programs, 20+ characters long passwords with capitals and numbers, tho they still get their account stolen.
One guild mate made a new e-mail on a NEW PC after getting hacked, and there he resolved his gw2 account problem, then he got hacked again a day later.
I suspect the security problem isn’t on the customers’ side.
Yeah I’ve noticed a couple of hacks in my guild too. Granted I don’t think they had authenticators. Still would be nice to know where the problem lies. I’ve got 2 stage authentication on my account, and email and if those with similar security measure have been hacked… Well I’m glad I didn’t save my credit card details last time I went to the TP…
God, people like you make this community feel so childish…
Why do you feel the need to insult people? Totally un-necessary and adds nothing to the argument.
Catharsis?
kitten we’re spoiled. Used to be MMOs would release maybe a months worth of content every four to six months and people would lap it up. Now people are so used to having new things to do every two weeks that withdrawal symptoms are setting in. Perspective people! Perspective!
Yeah. I remember my days in WoW were like that. In fact they didn’t so much release a months worth of content so much as content that would take the elite Raiders maybe a week to beat and casuals like my old guild 3-4 weeks.
I’m feeling the lull, but hope it’s more of a “calm before the storm” moment. ^^
Jip that’s what I’m hoping. I think ANet is still developing content, even if it isn’t necessarily a full team doing it. So when things start up again they’ll be able to polish what’s already there.
Personally I don’t mind there is no next season yet. I tent to like the game better without a ‘do it now or miss out forever’ feeling. But I would love to see an expansion with some great permanent content in the future.
oh I must say I agree. Looking at the new Wardrobe, there’s so many skins that just aren’t available any more. Not to mention a lot of content I wouldn’t mind replying.
But since the forums have been going on and on about temporary content I’m hoping ANet takes it to heart. Remember when Living Story events were once off like Karka invasion of LA? We complained and ANet changed. So I’m hoping.
anet is so cheap they can’t have more than 1 studio?
How much do you have?[/quote]
I’ll agree with the sentiment, if not with the usages of a ad hominem.
For the love of god, Buy more employees. More people= job will be done faster. = Profit!
Ever read the Mythic Man Month. I have it, but I haven’t unfortunately. Time and what not. However I think it basically provides a counter point to your argument.
Yes, but you were all excited about Season 1, and we all know how that turned out.
I honestly think people are retrospectively making it far worse than it was.
Couldn’t you at the very least give us a speculation of -when- we get updates again? Is it a case of weeks? a month?
I think we as players have basically burned that bridge… We don’t tend to know the difference between ‘speculation’ and ‘promise’.
Not sure why the payers outside of china have to sit on our hands while china ramps up. I would have expected a new revenue stream to have additional staff to support it.
In the same way that 9 women can’t produce a baby in one month, adding more people to a software development project does not necessarily decrease the time required. Me paraphrasing the mythic man month.
In some days, 1 Month After the last update and Devs are still nowhere to be found. O_o
Apparently they’re busy.
The items the vendors sell differ based on your character level. At level 1, you get level 1 armor for copper. At level 80, you get level 80 white gear for a few silver.
My guess is the character you’re playing on EU is much lower level than your NA account.
Granted that makes perfect sense, but lets not let the facts get in the way of wild speculation.
Um… maybe it’s because it’s the import tax? Mailing those items all the way to America must be expensive. Production was probably outsourced to third world countries in Africa or something :P
Finally SOMETHING!
I like to think ANet is polishing the content as much as possible. But yes several weeks of silence. I guess ANets 2 week release scheduled spoiled me.
Personal story, more of this. Possibly even turning season 1 into a personal story.
More maps would be nice, with the new megaserver the previous issue (that I think was going on) of adding new maps causing empty maps isn’t such a big deal anymore, so more maps. However some notes need to be taken from Southsun. In my opinion the maps needs more than a bunch of group content and only 1 or 2 jumping quests.
Some new profession weapon combos.
In terms of my more unrealistic expectation: New races, a bunch of new events in current areas (as in I don’t want to have to look for events any more), more world bosses (every map should have a world boss themed to that map). A massive overhaul of the underwater combat system.
Yeah seem our local South African ISP have all gathered together and decided to screw us over. Of course there’s also some people from other countries having this problem, but it seems primary to hit us ZAers.
I’ve got the same problem, thought I had a fix (and it did work for a while, but now… not, https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/Can-t-update-client-slow-stops/first#post3721943). What I do know is that this is a issues that’s been around for more than a year. In my case it’s probably got something to do with the type of packets they’re sending through (or at least the port) and how my ISP is handling them. Anyway this doesn’t seem like an issue ANet is particularly concerned about or is addressing. Most advice you’ll probably get from a red posts is the basics: run as admin, check your firewall, check your anti-viruses etc.
Worse part is I really want to login (been away for about 2 weeks) to see all the new features
Anyway Chimprozee’s solution sort of works (although not exactly the same way for me as for him). Keep the client open when it hits zero, after a while I’ll say ‘Connection error(s). Retrying…’ (as it’s presently doing with me), then after a while it’ll start up continue and the cycle will go on. Patients I’m a afraid.

But to ask if all mobile plants are related in some way is no different than asking if centaurs and charr are related in some way because they have similar bone structures (which in turn is like asking if humans and pigs are related because both have similar bone density or whatever the similarity is that makes pigs a good test for effectiveness on humans).
It just hit me (while I was mindlessly doing my daily), from a scientific perspective it is perfectly logical to ask if Charr and Centaurs are related if they have similar bone structures (looking at physical traits is one of the ways we define biological taxonomies). From an evolutionary standpoint separate development of common traits is possible, but usually can be traced back to a common ancestor. Although bone density isn’t a very good relating factor I must admit, but in terms of testing on pigs to see the effectiveness on humans… well depends on the test. Humans and pigs have a lot of similarities actually (http://www.goshen.edu/bio/pigbook/humanpigcomparison.html), it’s kinda the reason we can do things like tissue transplants. Interesting note a 75kg Pig has a similar heart size as a 75kg human. Although if it’s the immune system we’d probably look at the sea otter oddly enough).
Well, largely because the gods have stopped meddling in the matters of Tyria.
Or because they’re not as powerful as the term god would indicate. For gods they’re rather mortal. Abaddon died and I’d imagine that Balthazar’s father was also a god (who was beheaded). Dhuum and Abaddon were both imprisoned for a very very long time (why does god need a spaceshi— I mean, why does god have such a hard time getting out of jail).
Balthazar’s father could easily have been mortal, since divinity is not passed down by genetics (though some power does seem passed down since Grenth had titles such as “Prince of Ice and Sorrow” before overcoming Dhuum).
But you’re falling into the gap that is caused by monotheism being so commonplace nowadays. In traditional poltheism, gods are not these omnipotent, omniscient beings that cannot be covercome. They’re unaging, world-making, race-making, afterlife-governing beings.
Why does Abaddon and Dhuum have such a hard time getting out of jail? Because they’re in a jail tailored specifically to them. No different than the prisons the Titans were put in with Greek Mythos – Titans in Greek Mythos were gods too.
I’m still going with the Charr on this one, there are no gods or immortals only powerful entities.
CureForLiving was saying that the “born full-grown” could be a unique attribute to the Pale Tree, not all sylvari ever. Though plausible, given the sylvan hounds are born smaller than they end up being after a few months, that’s not the case unless Malyck went from young to adult in a very short timespan (I suppose the Toxic Hybrid did, as he grows within a minute or so).
Actually I was calling them babies because they’re ‘born’ ‘full grown’, thus creating an amusing contradiction. Although now that you mention the Sylvari hounds… something to mull over.
Malyck didn’t wake up with memory loss. The memory loss was a (false) assumption on the player character’s part due to Malyck not know what the Grove, Pale Tree, or Dream of Dreams were. Malyck shows with perfect memory all that happened once he left his pod if you go with Caithe’s option in that storyline.
I went with the oracle lady myself, so I missed that one. But still that reinforced my original point, there’s no way that the Pale Tree and the Grove Sylvari would allow a pod to just flow down the river. They clearly have system in place to ensure the safety of the pods. Now it might have been an accident that his pod got swept away but no search party? I think that this might indicate that the none-Grove Sylvari might not have the same cohesive society as the Grove Sylvari. Or they have so many pods that losing one or two doesn’t really bother them.
Man, can you imagine the amount of effort it would take to haul Zhaitan’s body to a safe and secure location for analysis? They would either have to cut it up to manageable pieces or haul the whole thing in-between a dozen or so airships.
Or they could setup a system by which they get hordes of adventurers to smuggle the corpse to them piece by piece in exchange for an assortment of knick-knacks.
Arguably, we know how humans came about – in regards to Tyria (brought to Tyria from another world);
Much like panspermia it does a very bad job of explaining where anything came from, it just shifts the location.
and we don’t know that wind riders “came from magic” – we just know that Sybitha unleashed them, specifically those in the Crystal Desert (those elsewhere may be of different origin).
And Sybitha was a wizard right?
Well a buff would be nice at the very least it might change how other players see necros, which frankly is my biggest issue of late far more so than the actual performance of my necro.
This seems familiar:

Some advice that helped me (in the linked post) changing my dns to 8.8.8.8 and alt to 8.8.4.4 helped.
Stop thinking that anything plant-like must be connected with Mordremoth somehow.
Seriously, it’s hurting flower sellers.
I’m sure ANet can come up with much better dragon minions.
Actually we lack a lot of racial origins. We don’t for example know how the humans, norns, charr or asura came about, and we don’t know the story behind the original seed that created the pale tree and sylvari (other than the seed was in a cave guarded by plant monsters). In fact to my knowledge there are only a handful of species who’s origins we know (breeze riders came from magic, demons are made from the mist). With such limited knowledge, and given the somewhat unique nature of plant creatures it does seem logical to ask if plant creatures aren’t related in some way.
Well we really know very little about these other Sylvari. All we have to go off of is Malyck. Based on what we know about Malyck: no connection to the dream, fair tempered, generally a ‘good guy’. By all account there doesn’t seem to be too much difference between the other sylvari and the grove sylvari. However since Malyck woke up with memory loss and spent some time amongst the wardens it’s highly possible that he might have assumed many of the grove sylvari’s habits and world view (meaning that his sylvari might very well be different).
As an interesting side note, was Malyck a baby when he washed up in the river? Maybe he just hit his head on a rock? Not sure if plants suffer from brain damage, or even have brains. If he was a baby this is and interesting fact since in the grove all sylvari pods are carefully looked after, could this mean that the other sylvari are less socially organised? Maybe their pale tree isn’t sentient, and thus their society lacks a cohesive force.
A race similar to Afflicted resulting from a Disease Elder Dragon would be very similar to Zhaitan though whether that makes it viable or not viable depends on ArenaNet(by the way how many Undead Elder Dragons do any of you think could possibly exist on the planet Tyria?).
Disease ED would basically steam-roll over all the races, honestly I haven’t seen too much penicillin lying around so a magic immune version of any real would plague… And most likely the minions themselves would probably also be pretty infectious.
As for how many Undead EDs… well firstly we need to have some idea of where EDs draw there power from, and thus if it’s viable for for 2 EDs to have similar powers, then we’d need to know if there are any other EDs. However nothing in lore excludes the possibility (by merit of there not being a lot of lore on the subject), maybe EDs wake up in shifts and for all we know there might be hundreds of EDs below the surface waiting for their alarms to go off.
Serious… if i wanna play something interesting and refreshing i don’t wanna get new dyes instead. Guys who wanna play football are not joining a Tennis Club
Well then welcome to the tennis club? What you don’t want to join us? Ok that’s fine, but do you really have to sit in the corner and complain non-stop while we’re having fun? Wouldn’t it be more fun if you… went somewhere where you could have fun? You do know this is the tennis club right, no matter how much you complain we’re not all going to put down our rackets and go play football with you.
Guild Wars 2 is structurally different from Guild Wars 1 in a large number of ways. I would even argue that Guild Wars 1 is not an MMO due to how instanced off the world is. Guild Wars 1 is more like an RPG and is made to be more of a solo experience than Guild Wars 2 is. You might just not like MMOs, well then I have a large list of other RPGs you could play that have well constructed story and gameplay that may be more to your liking. I and many other people find the game has not yet lived up to its potential, but it might get there if given enough time; that is one of the boons of an MMO, they can change A LOT over time.
Said in a far nicer way then I could. GW1 is not GW2, complaining isn’t going to change that.
(assuming the guild is large enough to actually do some of these world events by itself).
Guess I’m gonna have to try and find a larger guild… but I like my small guild… luckily I can have more than 1.
Actually it wont take as long…they will need a HUB for Halloween and Christmas
Would however give them an excuse to bring some holiday decorations to the other capitals for once…
We can rebuild it. Lion’s Arch has the money. We can make it better. More structurally stable. Easier to navigate.
Really though for what LA started as, it needed to be updated anyway.
Definitely had the money, tried looting the bank afterwards… guard wouldn’t let me close to the big pile of money.
In a way, I almost wish they wouldn’t rebuild at all.
Turn it into a memorial of the way things used to be, and the people who died. Put up plaques and lists of the dead, and lists of the heros. And, at the center, where the lion statue used to be, a monolith with a picture of the statue on it.
Then, build a new hub somewhere. Call it New LA or something, but make it so that it doesn’t look like all the flotsam in the world piled up in one place. Make it real, with real buildings and parks, and markets. Build a great wall around it for protection from the ground, and use some of that “found” technology to build lasers for protection from the sky. Give it a real government, and a council chamber, and offices for the 3 Orders.
In other words, scrap the old LA and make a new one that actually looks like a city on the scale of DR or Rata Sum.
+1 this idea, would be nice if Anet did something unexpected.
With the living story gone I’ve realized there’s nothing to do in guild wars. I log in, giggle at the Queensdale champ train drama and then log off and find something else to do.
What did you find you enjoy doing now, OP? I’m kinda lost myself now :/
Well I’m not OP, but I’ve found leveling alts isn’t too bad, working towards my ascended gear (kitten you time-gating!), probably going to go for a few more world completions. Must say though, being rather casual, even I’m kinda starting to see that once I have a 80 of every profession and a couple more world completion, and finally geared up my main, there not too much else. Luckily being casual that’s still way off. Mind you I can only imagine the self proclaimed hardcore crowd, they probably did everything in the first few days. No wonder they keep complaining.
You were never forced to participate in the Living Story, you could have easily made the choice to ignore a patch, as I have a number of times. If anything you are just excited over the Feature Pack because they are making a lot of really good mechanic adjustments, which is something the Living Story was not very heavy with.
I ignored some of these LS events and I have a feeling of being behind. Since yesterday I have an urge to do some SAB and get skins since there will be a wardrobe but NOPE – I wasn’t a no-life so no skins or titles for me because I wasn’t playing this game when Anet wanted so kitten me right? This temporary bullkitten is uneccessary and illogical, but they gonna wake up as always but little too late.
Yeah you’re not actually forced to do it, but if you want this pretty dress, and this cute hat you’re out of luck if you don’t.
with no LS the game is more alive, there is no mass LS farm and no LS zerg, just allot of players spread out to play the main game.
that’s what it’s all about, all the LS does is focus all the exiting parts in one small area, remove the LS and the world is more alive again.
So basically we just need a better application of LS then? Sounds good enough. Although not sure how much ANet is willing to experiment… well you’d imagine that now that they’ve moved on to a ED that experimentation time is over. However there’s no reason they can’t have interludes here and there where they try out new things.
I know a guy who has 300k+ gold atm. Wouldn’t mind seeing him get taxed. :P
Wow, he’s either very luck, or… well I guess he could have grinded that gold but no I can’t imagine the amount of grind required. Still I’m all ears as to the secret
Why is everyone panicking out by champion bags dropping less money? Don’t worry, if this does nerf champiom farming, someone will find another brainless grind to make gold with.
Where there’s a will there’s a way.
Anet has a good idea of how much gold they are taking out of the economy with the changes. I’m inclined to support them here.
One would imagine, after all ANet is in a far better position to generate statistics what is or isn’t going on. Unless we as players receive word otherwise, I’d imagine the decision is made based on real data. Sure we can speculate about the outcome but simply assuming ANet is shooting from the hip seems wrong.
1% increase on tp is 1% increase for all, poor and rich…
players with over 100g wont feel the +5silver cost that comes with 1%increase but players with 10g will…
so my questions is: how does “tax the rich” work if the poor get effected just as well?
PS: Everyone can play the tp….seriously.. everyone
Oh mister one percent can’t see why us dirty plebs can’t pull ourself up by our bootstraps and also become rich! Next thing you know you’ll be cutting relieve aid to Lions Arch, hiking up Asura Experiment/Accident insurance, de-fund the national feed a Charr cub program.
Tax the 1%!
Basically, while the TP tycoons may be sitting on fat stacks of coin, they get that coin from everyone who buys things. If you increase the cost of the transaction (i.e., increasing the tax), the guy who is selling (the “rich”) is simply going to raise his prices and the guy who is buying (the “poor”) is going to wind up spending even more money to get the same thing.
So we need to create anti-monopoly laws? Yeah, TP has been a bit too laissez-faire for me.
But please allow me ask: According to your (or everybody else’s) professional expertise, what would be “an effective tax on the rich” that would help to fight the dire income inequality within the game? Or is this social inequality among player characters something we just have to accept as set in stone?
~MRA
Well socialism get a bad rap these days but…
There are about 17 reasons I cannot answer that question.
So why bother posting at all?
To indicate that ANet is listening and taking note?
No, that’s not true. Some people are just not good with numbers, don’t have the talent needed to make the TP work for them. They could chuck money at it all day but wouldn’t get significantly more back out. There’s nothing shameful about that.
Yeah we all have skills, just not always the same skills or necessarily marketable skills…
If work is not required, then there would no such thing as gold or gems or loot and everybody would just be handed out the same stuff from ArenaNet.
I see no problem with this.
Even though you see no problem with every character wearing a standard uniform like in communist countries or in prison, a lot of us do.
Like I said, bad rap.
Adding a hardcore mode and a casual mode to existing dungeons would be something knew and nice. Although I guess the argument of fracturing the community… Still with the change they broad to Guild PVE raiding (i.e. being able to schedule tequatl or worm when it fits you) does seem to indicate a bit more focus on guild activities, and I’m guessing any hardcore dungeon mode would inherently be non-pug friendly. So who knows, if we frame the argument for hardcore correctly…
