I will just say how much rank matters: i had a guy stomping clone while i was wasting all my initiative trying to prevent enemy necro from rezzing that mez. Obviously necro got the rez eventually. I killed mes again, my teammate starts to stomp CLONE!!! again…. :|
So i get such teammates because clearly rank represents skill

The term as widely used in LoL. Sometimes people wanted to have clean account with really good w/l ratio or just play with friends (or carry someone for money<<<this happend a lot) since in league in ranked you can only team up with someone max. 1 division under/above you, so they created new account and skyrocketed on it quite fast through divisions since there skill does matter a lot and 1 high ranked player can carry entire games by himself. The downside is ofc if you are low/mid division player you stand absolutely no chance vs those player and might as well forfeit match, not to mention you lose a lot of points for such matches since system thinks the smurf is new player and shouldn’t have won.

Reveal itself is managable, the problem is that revs and scrappers have it pretty much per default. Then add all the aoe, ccs, invuls, heals from their side… not to mention dmg… yeah….

I had similar story: i went +1 teammate and killed enemy druid. He (druid) called me noob etc.
Some matches later i gethim on my team. Since i blocked him i could only guess he was talking crap to me again due to teammate responses. Fun part, he threw the game so bad whole team was flaming him while he apprently still tried to push blame on me lol. Was funny to watch

Happens to me as well sometimes, thought it was issue with mouse response and auto run (i use mouse keys to move). Recasting movement keys couple times and dropping target usually helps.

This forums format is crap and we have a new bug every week. It took months for the ability to “Search” through post actually worked here. Reddit is simpler and easier and GW2 devs can employ way more mods just from the reddit community to keep toxicity down.
Hell even the users can help police, if idiocy gets downvoted enough it will actually hide the post, meaning players can get on scummy commenters right away.
Lastly, we don’t have 90 sub-forums on reddit… It’s all a single thread and with the “Hot” setting a dev can find out, easily what most players are commenting on or upvoting.
All in all it’s just a cleaner more streamlined system. There’s a reason why Reddit has survived this long.

Because of 50% w/l ratio algorithm: if your win ratio is above 50% the matchmaking puts you in matches that you suppose to lose untill you drop below 50% w/l ratio again. Welcome to gw2 where you get punished for winning games. Only way to win games despite that algorithm is to play full premade with really good players because matchmaking can’t put you on bad team anymore and can only give you harder teams to face. This is based on my personal experience from over 4k matches~
I am looking foward very fun time atm (probably will be like 10 loses before i get ok matches again~)

It is not leaderboards, it is mmr. MMR affects 50% of matchmaking. Anet said they will reset it when leagues start but they didn’t so……..yea~

There was the time where:
who have more hambow warriors win
who have more terrormancer with Dhuumfire win
who have more invisible mesmers that burst with 20k damage win
who have more thiefs that backstab for 25k win
who have more dps guardian win
who have more engi cc bunker winseriously, that’s not the best meta we had but if you talk about class diversity is one of the well balanced of ever.
Yes, theives and warriors find a hard time, actually, but all the other classes play really good.
Some fixed and thiefs and warriors will become really good. They’re damage and survavibility don’t really luck of anything to make them viable. They only need some mirated buffs. to make them more able to fight in different roles.
None of those metas lead to timers run out before 500 and pro teams quiting matches during tournament.

Mes wells, DH traps, scrapper fields from enemy – all have friendly color. The only way tro figure out weither the spell is friendly or belongs to enemy is to actually walk into it (which usually ends up in death). So will this ever be fixed? Or do we have to wait untill another muffin session on reddit is over (because clearly it is so much more important than doing actual work and fixing bugs) ?

Seriously I can only play PvP in 1 hour bursts now before I get too angry at the game and stop.
I’ve never in any point of my GW2 life had this issue, the game is at a massive all-time low and lots of people are going to be leaving the game – even those who don’t certainly aren’t going to be recommending the game to anyone.
And everyone knows what problems there are with the game because there have been non-stop complaints on the forums since leagues.
1)There have been complaints since the launch of the game
2)There has been a doomsday prophet every week
3)Previous meta is always better in people eyes

MMR wasn’t reset and entire pvp system just sucks: favors low mmr players, grinding, cheating and exploiting (why couldn’t they just copy paste working pvp systems from other games?)

Dungeons got nerfed.
WvW died.
There is nothing left to do once you got new legendary :/
I used to love this game so much. It was my second favorite game (after original FF7), HoT made me hate it. I really don’t understand devs. It is not like feedback wasn’t there, it is not like we didn’t warn them for months that this will happen (at least about leagues). I guess some posts about muffins on reddit are better feedback about this game heh.

I am thinking that he is talking about the Revenants 4 second taunt thanks to Vipers. It’s the longest CC in the game for some stupid reason.
Happens once to single targer “every” 45sec. Its predicable. Use stab and cc to bait it out. Thats what most does either way. I would like to see indicator of this trait on bar tho so both player and enemy can know when its up.
It is predictable however 45 seconds is really, really low. Just look at Reaper’s Protection, 60 second recharge.
However, I think the trait is bugged. There have been times I baited it out and nothing happened, yet, the trait still goes on cooldown. Not only that, it can trigger through walls.
Maybe, sometimes i was wondering where my taunt is but then again with all that random stab/immune to first cc etc idk. Difference between this and reaper protection is that eye is single while reaper is aoe. Last stand is 8sec stab+free stunbreak on 40cd, dh places daze trap that provides stab+aegis on 36 (or 45, not sure) cd etc. Hard to catch stunbreak every 30sec while recovering all endurance and so on.
As you see eye is not really all that broken when compared with similiar stuff. But im up for removing all these passive craps personally. Slot n forget, 0 skill.
I don’t mind passive abilities. The issue is when they are clearly too good. 3 second taunt? You can blast someone 8k damage with an instant-cast Chill of Death trait.
Of course, ArenaNet balance the game the same way they play it.
This actually might be really close to the truth. Some dev once admitted himself they don’t have much time to play this game so obviously players that spend a lot of time in game happend to be often better than devs at pvp (free quote). I wouldn’t be surprised if whole obsession with aoe/passives and bunkering came from that. I mean we saw the trend going like this for a while: the difference between good and bad players became smaller and smaller due to class mechanics. If player (dev) is not good at pvp (reaction, resource managment, strategical play) then design classes the way that computer plays for you and doesn’t require much player involvment/skill. That way even worst player (even devs) could compete with good players~ PvP system that is nothing more but grind favoring less experienced players with low mmr just supports the theory, imo.
Don’t think they could pull that off on asian market given how asian players are obsessed with grind and are very competitive.

What type of dmg you exactly want to buff? The 3k autoattack? The 4k dodge? The 5k one chain of elite? or the 5.5 k sword 3? Or maybe the 11k backstab that comes from stealth?
What about survibility? Every single match ive played that has decent thief he has less deaths than any other player.
Its stupid to even consider that thief would need buff and not that some other classes need a nerf. Thief is class for expert players who are good at the game, if you want to buff it for bad players then first ask to nerf it at high end.

You ever tried stealth gyro?…that thing is slow and often get stuck on random rock.
PU and especially mesmers have lots of stealth and ANET nerfed it because it was almost perma stealthed in most of fights. Actually it needs more nerfs.
Reflect on whirl only reflect projectiles so it don’t reflect 99% attacks.
Recovery matrix is fine, engies needed that protection.Scrapper is most balanced class atm, it has medium burst capability, have good escape options and heals, very good sustain. Irenio did a good job.

Was kind of expected given how mmr wasn’t reset despite the promises made by Anet. People with no/low mmr shot up the ruby fast, people with high mmr have to deal with lovely 50% w/l algorithm and actually fight hard matches to gain any pips which makes their progression quite slow.

Everybody in every match should do their best to win the match. Thus " to try a bit less" has no point in PvP environment.
i just pointed out that people who were intentionally afking at spawn trying to tank down their mmr were silly
the way matchmaking is programmed, it makes sure you tank down mmr anyway, it will force it on you, will shove it down your troat and makes sure you enjoy it (or not); there is no way around it unless you run full premade of top players
the more matches you win, the more you will get punished: you will get absurdly lopsided matches where your entire team either afks, rushes 4 man beast, gets wiped by 1 person from enemy team or… you simply don’t have teammates from begin with (yes that happend to me)
i would say my experience of (closing to) 4500 games across 2 accounts could back up such observation~
