Note: If you don’t have Exp Scroll, just do the other side of the “+”

Fastest if you have everything:
Exp Scroll to 20 + 60 Tomes (if no Exp Scroll, 78 tomes needed)

If you don’t have Tomes and but have enough mats/coins:
Exp Scroll + Crafting all Professions (if no Exp Scroll, need to do either one of below)

If you don’t have enough mats/coins
Exp Scroll + EotM Karma Train

If you don’t like the PvP Aspect of EotM
Exp Scroll + Complete ALL Starter Zones

Or do what I do, I mix and match those activities without regard to how fast. I just play

Guaranteed zero rewards

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: DeathMetal.8264

DeathMetal.8264

Something that me and a friend discussed the other night, was how GW2 has guaranteed no rewards, and this really bothers me. Whenever you are exploring the world, and find that hidden cave, you are almost guaranteed to find nothing of interest what so ever.

There may be a treasure chest filled with the same useless green and blue items that drop from any other enemy (if there is any chest at all). There may be a veteran monster, that just takes longer to kill, and doesn’t provide a meaningful reward worth the effort. And all this does not encourage me to explore the world. What’s the point of discovering a cave behind a waterfall, when the cave contains nothing that I wouldn’t find anywhere else?

The game needs better rewards overall, but it certainly needs to reward exploration better. This could be done in the form of achievements, but also in the form of an extra page in your journal. When I discover a cave, let there be something special in it that makes me feel rewarded for my trouble.

Just consider this: if the rewards are so epic whenever you find a cave, they will be posted in guides and then people gets so used to it, and they never find it epic anymore. A real example: when WB doesn’t guarantee any rare, people complain about it. Now, it has guaranteed rare, and now people complain and call it trash. You have an idea now right? That if ANet made the drop better, that there will always be complaint like yours. The idea is to reward, just enough, but not too much. Personally, I believe the exploration rewards are fine, I wouldn’t have it any other way (try completing Lv70+ zones, it even gives you exotic!)

Where are the good looking weapons/armors?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: DeathMetal.8264

DeathMetal.8264

I’ve been wondering this for a while now, gw2 is based on the appearence/looks of armors and weapons. But why arent there any armors/weapons worth grinding for?

We have got dungeon armors/weapons, most of them look awfull (ac, cm, se, coe), i almost NEVER see people walking around with those armors/weapons.
Cof, TA, and Arah armors look decent, but i’m still missing something.
Cultural armors are nice, but some tier 3 look worse then the cheaper tiers.
Even the armors in gem store (where they can earn alot of money with) arent worth buying.
We can combine armor pieces, but then u probly have colour difference in certain pieces (example TA armor).

Legendary weapons, are nice, but they dont look “legendary”. Some dont even have a glow :o. How come greatswords have 2 options to make, and all the rest only one?
I dont wanna shoot flowers or pony’s with bows xD, or get a discoball that glows.
Why not give players 2 options, at every legendary? so they have a choice which one to make.

For a game based on looks, there really isnt much choice

Question: Where are the good looking weapons/armors?
Answer: Look at the wardrobe, then wiki where you can get them or just google them

VERY IMPORTANT: BEAUTY IS IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER
aka What you constitute as awesome, may be lame to me and vice versa.

Gw2 still bad??

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: DeathMetal.8264

DeathMetal.8264

Which legitimate criticism of the game did OP make? (Ones that are personal opinions and offer no constructive feedback, such as flat statements that the professions are boring, don’t count).

-no end game
-grind all the time
-crafting

These are all points beaten like a dead horse for some time now that go ignored. I can expand
1. There are virtually no high effort high reward content in the game.
2. All of the end content revolves around grinding ascended/legendary and cosmetics, the only way of doing said grinding is low effort extremely low reward content.
3. The constant nerfing of farming, no more champion runs, NO MORE DYE DROPS (desperate grab for peoples money from lion chest keys).

Endgame – I remember, but I cant find it anymore, that Anet stated there’s no endgame. They want/like that even low lvl zones be scalable to max lvl, they do this via dynamic level scaling i.e. downleveling and in times, upleveling: wvw, living story, etc). Also, Anet mentioned pseudo endgame for horizontal development rather than vertical (i.e. no constant grind for BiS every certain month). Then Anet also gave FotM for those who live vertical progression.

Grind All The Time – purely subjective. Again, I remember Anet mentioning that “grind” is about leveling. I play Wildstar, eew, leveling grind is indeed a grind. I also played other Korean MMO, and man, do I need to always buy XP bonus stuff just to get a few percent of XP after several hours of mindlessly killing the same mob again and again and again. If you meant gear? Some grind is indeed needed, but it’s not like you need BiS to complete most of the content of the game. I even saw a Liadri video being defeated naked. I have seen dungeon done solo. I, myself, solo Champion naked.

Crafting – O.o why would this bad? The only thing I can think of is the forced crafting to get an Ascended, but like I said above, you can get away doing contents with just rares. Exotic would be awesome, and Ascended is unless you’re that one who always do top level fractals.

1. Depends on your definition of high effort/high reward. Making my legendary fits this, it may not fit yours, but it fits mine. Which is my point: subjective. Some people consider reaching a certain title/achievement point as their high effort/high reward (i.e achieving title etc) but others (like me) don’t even care about it.

2. If you’re the type who always like to be top/best, you end up in two areas: gets bored coz you attained everything, or quits coz you cant get to your goal. And assuming Anet made WB drops ascended 100% of the time, I foresee that some will complain “I am not special snowflake anymore, everything so easy, everyone has ascended, nothing to do in game. I have everything, all I do is afk in town”. So your wish was granted, but broke others. Either way, Anet can’t please everyone 100% so you just have either enjoy what you like, ignore what you dont like, or make a suggestion to Anet. If the dislike > likes, time to move on. I practice this myself, knowing no game will fit my likes 100%, coz there’s not perfect game!

3. Nerf Champ awww (you mean Queensdale?). You know people still farm Frostgorge right? Or that there was a Boss Blitz champ farm? Or that Drytop Champ farm is the “thing” lately? Or that Plinx train and other trains in Orr exist for t6 bags farm? And you can still do farm at Southsun. Except, maybe you dont like those, maybe you like Queensdale champ only because it’s freakin easy. In that case, I have seen Kessex Hills champ farm as well, and in rare instances, Gendarran champ farm.

As for No more dye drops, aww. Dye Drop isn’t something that’ll make me feel really bad. Sure there are people who absolutely love it, but I’m not one of those and I know many who dont too. But what I’m saying is, removal of this drop is not gamebreaking at least for me. Sure maybe if you’re making the legendary that depends on it, then yeah you could say that, but all you need is patience to get it if it’s indeed what you need/want. Like I said, if your dislike > like, it’s time to move on. Personally, dye drop isn’t going to sway me off.

TL;DR: maybe this game is not for you. If you decide to stay, I hope you find what you’re looking for. If you are quittting/have quit, I would appreciate if you can send me some of your stuff. I accept donations, even your trash =)

Gw2 still bad??

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: DeathMetal.8264

DeathMetal.8264

Hello, I bought gw2 long long time ago. More specifically I preodered it. And I was very very very VERY disappointed with:
-crashes
-empty servers
-no end game
-grind all the time (80 lvls?? Come on in gw1 there were 20. I could hit max lvl in 3 hours. In gw2 its much much longer)
-crafting – also grind
-dumb login procedure (every time I had to login onto my mail, I still have to)
-support not responding for tickets
-Boring classes (skills – small amount and all almost same [deal x dmg] )
-5x Guardian team so op
-No level scalling (80lvl character in 30lvl area is still stronger than 30 lvl character there)
-Gem shop news all the time
-Insane server structure (gw1 districts ftw)

So my question is:
Is anything improved right now? Or I have to wait for Guild Wars 3?
Or just play gw1 – best mmo ever made.

Thanks For Answers.

Whine more, this game is simply not for you. Answering those questions won’t change your mind. Good luck…

No signs that it’s happening now. After several months of dealing with wrecked events.

Be that as it may, your issue was answered. Your ISSUE is not about MEGA SERVER, it’s about proper scaling so don’t lump your scaling issue as a Mega Server issue since I have shown you links that your issue can happen with/without Megaserver.

I’ve got this feeling the scaling rework just won’t happen. The Cursed Shore will remain the kittened loot train forever. Yes, I’m bitter.

It did happen before and it can happen again.

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/updates/Game-Update-Notes-January-28-2013#post1307769

Look for the portion about

“The difficulty of events to claim and defend the Orrian temples and the Gates to Arah will now scale to accommodate a larger number of players.”

Again, your issue is NOT ABOUT Megaserver. That quote I posted is a year before Megaserver is implemented. Scaling IS NOT a Megaserver issue. It happened before, it is happening now, and it can happen again, whether there’s Megaserver or not.

DeathMetal, please, enlighten me: how is doing events in which there are 2-3 trash mobs for each 10 players out of the whole zerg of 100 fun? There is no proper scaling for this megaserver system!

It is not the issue of megaserver, but the issue of scaling. Not ALL events react that way. Consider the Boss Blitz. They scale WAY TOO high if too many people are in there, it’s better to do the bosses with the optimal number (5-6 players).

Then consider Tri Wurm and/or Teq, have you done it with less than a full map (say 50 players)? Would you prefer that events can not be done because of lack of players?

Events need to scale, it’s not a Megaserver issue, it’s an event issue and it will happen/can happen whether you’re in a Mega or not (consider for example, some adjustments made to Orr events prior to Mega S)…

  • People who don’t like Megaserver (the long time players) either quit, or go to this forum often and voice their opinion
  • Meanwhile, people like myself who loves Megaserver, often ignores comments of those who dislikes it, or doesn’t even visit forum and we just play
  • Then the new players don’t really care

In the end, only Anet can say if MegaS did more good than bad or vice versa.

I love how I can play WB any time in my waking days, with people always doing them.

I love meeting both old and new people. Yes, I still see people from my old server and their guild too. At the same time, I meet people from all other servers without guesting.

Visiting maps which would normally be not populated, is always like new experience: map chat is alive!

Doing events, whether low level or high, is a fun experience. Of course, some still takes cooperation (Teq/Wurm) and failure can mean some people are hating it, but you can’t please 100% everytime. So just learn from it, and move on…

Are there quirks? Yeah, during the first ever implementation, we had issues with Guild Mission. But after Anet made sure that Guilds can share credits, it’s just as fun. We still need to taxi maybe a couple of people or so, but since we’re a guild, we don’t mind waiting for others.

WvW is probably the most challenging now, but now, we just talk to prospective new members before inviting them, and tell them what they will be missing if they are not from our home server. I would prefer that Megas be on “PvE active” zones only and not in the cities, but hey, I can live with it.

In the end, I love MegaS and wouldn’t want Gw2 any other way….

Create a Special Account - 8 Slot Bag

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: DeathMetal.8264

DeathMetal.8264

Hello

The main ideia for this Special Account Bag is this.
For example: I have 3 caracthers 80 lvl , i wanna use my ascended rings and accessories.
Problem is everytime i log in, i have to go to bank share that itens between characters.

This special account bag works likes this.
i buy one for each 80 lvl toon, in there i put that itens. So next time i will log in, the itens will appear in my second toon, and so on. The bag save the itens, that way i share the itens betweens toons everytime i log in

By mats

Wallet and Banks solves this concern. Don’t get me wrong, I like this idea. But the next thing we know, people complain why 8 slots only? The next they complain, why only one-slot for that special bag? And before we know it, people would ask why not just remove the bank and put everything else in this special bag. And then later on, why do we even have limit on these bags? Why not just make one bag with 1million slots, that can hold all items and gear and what nots, and be accessible across all characters?

It sounds good, till devs run into some sort of technical limitation, and decided to just go back to what we currently have right now x.x

I like my Sunrise legendary a lot, but many says ALL legendary are <insert bad comment here> ugly

The best way to play the game that you love EVERY ASPECT, and that you feel where your feedback are valued, is to make your own game just for yourself.

Heck, even with food it’s the same. I like Chocolate, and I thought everyone loves it because hey, it’s Chocolate but as I grow older and meet more people, I found many who can’t even stand the smell of it.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience. Just stick to other money-making stuff and move away from risky ones like selling slots.

If you really wanna sell slot, get 3 others of your friends, to make sure you dont get kicked. Sure you lose 3 other sales, but it’s safer.

As for the game mechanics, I’m pretty sure these things happen very rarely so Anet don’t really changed the way party-kick happens. But I like what Anet did, that anyone can propose a kick and not just the party leader, but maybe change so that no one can kick the dungeon maker coz that kicks everyone else out of dungeon (that seems odd right?)…

180 Gold on no precursor? how about you?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

DeathMetal.8264

I spent, back then (a year ago?), ~500g accumulated thru several tries of about 80g to 90g worth of rare greatsword. Note that I resell Exotic that I get, so let’s say it’s about ~400g. I don’t really know the inflation rate now compared to a year or so ago, but back then, after spending that much at the forge, I decided to just buy one (about 500g).

Getting a Pre is such an RNG factor, forge is supposed to alleviate some of the RNG factor, but it’s still RNG. As for trying again? I’d say, just get the gold, buy the Pre. That’s what so tricky about luck (or lack of it), you wouldn’t know until you try. And just when you feel like giving up, you get hopes that you will get one (maybe because you heard people got one in less try, etc) and then only to fail again.

I know, I tried it many times. I also know personally, at least two guildies who have tried it less than 10x and got one. RNG is never fair, it can never be fair, otherwise, half of then population would be running with Legendary and people will complain that it;s not so legendary after all (but that’s entirely different topic)….

Anyway, if you “feel” you’ll get it in a few tries, no one’s stopping you. But my suggestion stays: get the gold, buy the pre. If you ever get one dropped, lucky you. If you ever got one dropped and you already bought one, sell either or both if you change your mind.

Good luck, we all need it.

Hi there OP, I am not sure I understand your issue because I have a hard time understanding your post. So if I understand it, you’d like to get Gift of Battle but you dont like to do WvW right? Some of us have to do stuff we don’t like, just to get stuff we like, it works both in the real world and in-game, and that’s just how things work.

But, in case you don’t know, you can get Badge even not doing WvW
a) Achievement Points
b) Laurels (you buy WvW exp, you get WvW chest, which contains badges)

For more info, you may refer to this:

Dry Top reminded me of what got me hook

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: DeathMetal.8264

DeathMetal.8264

Drytop and Boss Blitz actually, reminded me, why I got hooked at Gw2 back in the early days, and why I almost quit. I loved Gw2 because of fast, almost non-stop events, with chance for decent loots.

Anyone remembers Cursed Shore? Plinx Chain? Tunnel Events? Those events pop up 2-5min with each other, with so much coins and loots!!!! The only reason to stop is because you got your “fill” (or you need to go to work/bathroom/etc) and not because there’s nothing to do, virtually no wait time!

Then Anet, for some reason, decided they dont want players to “play that way” and introduced DR (which is acceptable to a degree), then nerfed the loot, then nerfed the events (slower) and eventually, nerfed the whole place (less mobs, easier risen).

Here’s hoping Anet wont make the same mistake for Dry Top….

What happened to "my way"?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

DeathMetal.8264

This game has been advertised like " we make the game for you, the player, we let you play the way you want to play"
This has been happening for over a year now but after the recent nerfs, “the way of how we want to play” has become “the way we want you to play”
Notice the change? it is “you”

Obviously, your way is not Anet’s way. Anet has ToS, EULA, whathaveyou, that must be followed by gamers. If you think “my way” means I can abuse other players because “that’s how I wanna play” is valid, think again. I am not saying “you” personally advocate for this, but just showing an example where “player’s way” is not necessary “the right way” or “any way I wanna play the game” way.

“Your way” must fall within the confines of what the developers meant for the game to be played. Anyone who thinks otherwise is fooling themselves.

But you sound like you need to play more and learn more. If you die and you can’t get to your team mates because you keep dying (because of trash mobs or traps or whatever), then you just need more practice. Now you might have played the said dungeons 100s of times, but not all of us have the same gaming skills; Im guessing you’re just not ready yet. And if you get kicked, just learn from experience, play with friend, and with guildmates. Or make your own group that says, no skipping/all new welcome.

Also, not everyone plays like the way you described. My guildmates has been carrying guildies and non guildies and willing to teach if they have time.

So my advise:
Play more, learn more
Make your own group, make your own rules
Run with good players

Is the gold to gems rate fair in guild wars 2?

Yes! It is an OPTION for players to use in-game gold rather than having no option at all. Say, if Anet never implemented Gold To Gem conversion, then the only option to have is to use real money.

Now, I’m not saying it’s “cheap” to convert, that is entirely different and depends on who you ask. I’d say when the game launch, I felt conversion was steep, because many players don’t have many gold. But now that I have more gold than when i first started, it still feel steep.

But the good news: I have an option to use in-game gold rather than just buy gems with real money.

TP killing real mmo fun

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: DeathMetal.8264

DeathMetal.8264

The point is NOT that people have no fun anymore while playing Guild Wars 2 or the Economy Simulator which is called Trading Post. The point is that the Game itself doesn’t satisfy. This is a difference.

Diablo 3, Skyrim, Dark Souls 2 and so on. In these games you can only achieve something if you play the game. And when you reach your aim, it is absolutely satisfying. In Guild Wars 2 it’s different.

Because of the Economy Simulator, the game has huge imbalances with loot. If you spend houndreds of hours, it doesn’t mean you achieve anything. You need luck to get gold or you play tp (“doing nothing”). An example for the imbalance: 10800 silk scrap (36 bolt of damask x 300 silk scrap/bolt of silk) for an ascended light armor set. To say it again, it is ONE example.

I want to go back to my first post. Does the Trading Post destroy Guild Wars 2? Yes, because the actual game is completely deformed by the Trading Post. Do people have fun with these influences? The barons and economists for sure. Other people? I wouldn’t bet on it.

I still have fun with PvP/WvW/PvE, but I’m defenitely not happy with this situation. It’s kind of grueling to see how the tp makes the loot you got from the real game to trash.

Without the Economy Simulator and consequently the loot imbalance, Guild Wars 2 would be still the best game since release. (And instead of fixing Trading Post issues, Anet could have fixed all the bugs already)

You can’t have it all! So others are better than you in making money, we’re on the same boat. But I chose not to make it an issue, because it’s not an issue for me. I mean, if I do my best in making money, it’ll be mediocre. That means, I still can’t compete with those who have the smarts to make money off TP.

However, as long as I can continue to enjoy and beat contents with whatever money I have, then it’s all good. I still use full Lv78 Exotic Armor since I first learned how to play zerker a month after launch of the game. It’s still the same set that I use in most aspects of game except PvP. I do:
WvW, Dungeons, FotM, EotM, World Boss, Open World DEs with these gears WITHOUT hardships nor problems.

Lately though, I am moving towards ascended armor. It might take me years, but meh, I can easily do stuff with my Lv78 gear; I am not so excited nor in a hurry to get full ascended. I do fine, in fact, more than fine, with my current gear.

So other players are millionaire and parading their stuff, guess what, I don’t mind them and I could care less about them. Live and let live, they don’t harm me. Sure, I don’t have shiney stuff, but whatever they can cut, I can too….

I tried it for a couple of days and I found it very archaic for my taste. If you are looking for an old-school gameplay, where you will always need someone to perform tasks, this game is good. If you just want to play the game solo and doesn’t have to wait for anyone, this game is bad for them. I personally don’t like it.

It is too early to compare both games though. The fundamentals are too far apart. To be able to fully compare the two, the players of WS must be able to play the game at least to the point where bugs has been found, endgame has been discussed for some time, and players are fully geared. Until then, all discussions as to the merit of WS vs GW (and vice versa) is just face value and not “the real” experience.

Why is zerging so encouraged in this game?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

DeathMetal.8264

Zerg is not a problem, it’s the mentality of the players and their skills or ability to adapt to play the game.

Consider:
No Zerg, not enough people to do the event, all players are experienced and skill full, but event fails (i.e. Teq)…
No Zerg, enough people to do the game, they use their skills to complete content (i.e. Fire Shaman, Ogre Chieftain, pre patch Grenth Kill Risen Priest)

With Zerg, everyone and I mean everyone, doesn’t do necessary things to complete event, the event fails (i.e. Tri Wurm/Teq/Marionette/etc)
With Zerg, many choose TO BE lazy (or simply don’t know better), many chose NOT TO be lazy, and the event still continues, but probably takes longer than usual (i.e. Golem using range attack)
With Zerg, everyone CAN STILL choose to be NOT lazy, they use their skills to complete the content, and the event completes A LOT faster.

With zerg, players who are clueless, CAN STILL get rewarded. They can use their experience to be better next time, or never learn. It is up to the player. After learning (or not learning), they can choose to use their knowledge (or lack of) and play the game.

Without zerg, players who are clueless, WILL NOT get rewarded, for the failing event. They can use their experience to be better next time, or never learn. It is up to the player. After learning (or not learning), they can choose to use their knowledge (or lack of) and play the game.

=======

As you can see, whether the zerg exists or not, players can still fail and can still succeed in events. And even if players continue to play the game WITHOUT the zerg, they can still never learn if they easily gives up, or just bad. Take a look for example Orr. This zone has been nerfed to death, it’s so easy, but you can still read forum complaints how the Orr mobs are hard (or cover up, by saying, they are annoying). Simple fact: Orr has been nerfed, mobs not as hard as they were during launch, and people still complain. All the players need to do is familiarize themselves with how Orr mobs fight, and avoid unwinnable situations, or, bring the power of the “zerg” with you.

Leveling is the worst it's been

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: DeathMetal.8264

DeathMetal.8264

Leveling in this game is so freakin’ easy I don’t care if I am that much weaker. You hit mine an ore, you get xp; you chop a tree, you get xp; you throw snow balls, you get xp; you craft, you get xp; and then there’s killing mobs, doing events, and pretty much discovering areas, poi, and vista gives xp!

Sure, it has changed, but that’s how games evolve; whether it’s for best or worst depends on you (and it seemed it is worst for you), but for me, no change, it’s practically so easy to level, only my laziness prevented me from reaching 80 (and yeah, I made a new character during char slot sale and it’s Lv30 now in just 4hrs). This game doesn’t even punish you enough when you die, the old games I played, I lose XP, if not loots and coins and more. In this game, if I die, I can be revived by others and don’t have to pay anything, not even a repair cost anymore….

And oh, back in the days, my traits doesn’t even matter much to me, I am so noobie I use whatever drops and I played with just the very basic traits (Adept?). I only get serious learning about traits when I hit 80 and I hit 80 in about a week O.o….I play with my new char, and man, the mobs melt so fast x.x

World Boss Timer Sheet

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

DeathMetal.8264

I made a Spreadsheet to easily check World Boss timers for our guild (AoW), I figured I’d share it here as well. There are several sheets in the Spreadsheet, choose which one best suits you. Note that the time on some spreadsheets are EST unless otherwise noted. Use Chrome or Firefox, IE sometimes cause an error.

Interesting stuff I noticed is that there’s an extra Wurm, and a missing Maw Svanir Shaman (the extra Wurm might be the Maw Svanir Shaman). It also doesn’t list ALL world bosses, but World Bosses that are provided by Anet on their feature pack blog:

Orr is a chore

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: DeathMetal.8264

DeathMetal.8264

All the rewarding play has been taken out of Orr. People complained about farming events and farming in general, yet we have the trains running in other maps….
Anet is just slippin’ and slidin’…. Doing one thing and turning around and do the opposite….
Given all the updates to champion loot, Orr should be an even better place to be at but nope. Looking back retrospectively, all the updates to tone down Orr were pretty kitten pointless.

There were plenty of people farming Cursed Shore champs when the boxes were first added. No idea why people stopped or at least it seems like they stopped since I don’t see anything on map chat. If I had to guess it’s probably because the the FQS champs are either easier or the pathing is better.

tl;dr
Players who likes profits choose path of least resistance to gain loots
Players who likes challenges, are spread all over, trying to find challenging content, or just quit

FGS is easier to do than Orr and for the same rewards, players flock for path of least resistance.

I am not really sure, but I am one (if not the only one) of those who noticed how Orr went downhill for the first time in November’12 when the first patch hits. For me, and those I played with at Orr during the time, it’s not about the Champ boxes. It was the pride that we’re able to play at the harshest condition, and even strive. Orr was the place where many players complained how hard it was, and for me, it should be hard: it was a “Lv80 only” zone (Cursed Shore specifically) which compared to FGS is a Lv70-Lv80 zone.

Players band together, completing events, both for loot and karma and coin (yep, a lot of coin drops from mobs back then till it was nerfed too). When the first champ boxes loot was implemented, players flock to Orr to farm a single champ: Embers, doing other champs if ever the Embers ended (accidentally or thru bugged or by some player who wants to complete the event). A lot have complained for this, and this was nerfed too! Meanwhile, other champ trains are still on-going (FGS, and Queensdale). And players who loves the challenge that Orr poses back then, they now have to either join trains themselves, run and solo some champs, jump the world boss bandwagon, do other odd things, or just quit.

I understand Anet would like to make “all” zones “end game zones”, but it makes the most sense to make Orr the “best end game zone” because it was one of the last areas that players can explore normally thru inter-zone connection (Southsun Cove is via portal/ship/gate). And yeah, when Southsun became profitable too, the answer from Anet is to simply: nerf shark, skale, vets, drops, kqueen, etc. And again, meanwhile, the other champ trains are still on-going.

So yeah, that’s why people only do trains at Queensdale, and Frostgorge. There’s one now too at Gendarran, because it is easier to rally PuGs because Gendarran is (temporarily) the new “hub”.

tl;dr
Players who likes profits choose path of least resistance to gain loots
Players who likes challenges, are spread all over, trying to find challenging content, or just quit

Indeed, in my post here, I mentioned

3rd Month: A few bots remain, then the loot was nerfed down to the ground. Plinxx zerg is far and few, and FotM was introduced. Anet’s decision back then was that “griding those areas are not intended”. Would have been good, but Anet only replaced the grinding/farming with FotM. Events takes way longer to spawn, and lot of wait time happens. I mean, what gives?

I mentioned that ANet only replaced Orr farming with FotM farming (back then). Of course now, Orr has been replaced by L.S. farming, Queensdale Farming, Frostgorge Farming, Dungeon Speed Runs

But I got too much off topic so I’ll stop =)

Orr is a chore

DeathMetal.8264

Pardon the bad rhyming ;-)

So I’m at level 80 with my first build, an elementalist. Up until now the game has been captivating – one that has truly exceeded my expectations. Up until now, that is…..

I’m battling my way through Orr and the contested waypoints are killing me. I end up attempting a lot of events on my own or with just one other player as the place seems to be deserted, and if and when I die, I have to go to a waypoint that is clear on the other end of the map because all the others are contested. I’m in a well populated server but I swear there are way more people at the lowest level maps than the highest ones, hence my problem at completing group events. I doubt I will complete this area as an elementalist unless I can hook up with a group of players attempting to do what I’m doing, but for whatever reason this has been the most uncooperative area I’ve experienced so far. I’ve been down and people will run right by me without blinking an eye. Or I’ll ask for help with an event and am ignored. Frustrating…..

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Any suggestions on what I can do?

Not to insult you, but Orr has been dumbed down/nerfed to ground so much already. I solo champs, and I don’t even wear full ascended. It’s a simple case of L2P and being aware of your surroundings. I have done Orr with Ele as well, Thief, Ranger, Mesmer, Necro and Engineer (they are all Light and Medium) and have done it with Guardian and Warrior as well, in short, I have done all 3 Orr zones with all classes.

So I would say just play it like your life depends on it. Don’t take the mobs for granted, learn their “tells” and attacks. Some Vets summon minions that explode that can insta-down you. Some of them summon explosive “eyes”. If you don’t know how to fight them, you’ll be in for a surprise. So again, it’s L2P: know your enemies.

Orr was my favorite zone (what with cross-zone effects of temples). Good luck and have fun…

Many players will find this topic uneccesary, irrelevant, or a threat to your income because you make a kitten ton selling precursors you are lucky enough to forge but I don’t care. I have been playing GW2 since early access (I was in beta too, but that doesn’t count) and I have forged 1000s of weapons, done countless dungeons, WvW, and events without a single precursor drop.

I feel like my account has a hex on it, some quirk in the coding that prevents nice things from being added to my loot table and I’m tired of it. It’s time to end the nonsensical RNG where legendary precursors are concerned.

You are not alone. I haven’t gotten any pre drop since launch. But hey, it’s a lottery and I have never been lucky with lottery. Except that in this game, Anet could have removed the lottery part…

Feedback/Questions: MegaServer

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: DeathMetal.8264

DeathMetal.8264

Sometime ago, I have proposed a merged PvE server
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Suggestion-Open-world-dynamic-content/3573567

“Proposed solutions:
a) Merged PvE zone for all servers
No change for for WvW players!!! The overflow system is already in place so it wouldn’t be overly difficult. When players log in, the server they login doesn’t affect PvE, only the WvWvW affiliation. The PvE server can create dynamic overflows as it sees fit, and all players join the same zones. This will solve, or at least alleviate, lack of population to other servers.”

I only hope that this is not part of April Fool’s
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/introducing-the-megaserver-system/

Here’s part of how Anet describe the Mega Server
“With the megaserver system, players won’t be separated into different copies of the same map based on the world they selected on character creation. "

And here’s another:

“With megaserver technology, there are as many copies of a map as are needed to comfortably hold the population of players in that map at a given time. Rather than having a separate map copy for each home world and artificially limiting the amount of fellow adventurers you see, the megaserver system brings players together and dynamically opens up new map copies as necessary.”

And I am really pscyhed about this because it even includes about my feedback on how anet should create overflows (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/livingworld/lwd/Will-Teq-Scaling-Happen/3084770):

“A sample solution might be:
A guild of x-number of people WP to Sparkfly, if they all WP within a set of time (i.e. within 3min of each other), they all get thrown to another overflow: ALL of them.
The same should work for a party of 5.
The same should work for a squad [i.e. no need to even join any guild]
And if feasible, the same should work for “friends”…
Then, the event should start when everyone is fully loaded, or till a set wait time is over [say 1min ala FE timer for its final pre]
One of the early birth pain of Teq event is the separation of friends, members, partymates and/or guildmates, leading to long camping which leads to boredom. The separation to multiple overflow breaks the idea of being in a guild to do events together, to use the guild’s chat, the guild’s voice server.”

And now Anet said:
""The megaserver system is a weighted load balancer for players. It aggregates data about you, like your party, guild, language, home world, and the map copy where people you like to play with can be found. Using this data, it ranks all possible versions of a given map by attributing a score to each. You’re placed in the map with the highest score, which is the one with which you have the most affinity.

I don’t mind, but I feel for key farmers. It’s a normal game mechanics, and I have seen “speed run” for it (15min?) which is absurd. Because I’m pretty sure it’s more than 15min, creating/deleting character and having to go thru all that stuff just to get the key.

DeathMetal.8264

I thought I’d find something new to first post, but the things you said has been argued (and defeated) countless times. “Control” works wonders when done properly, and if that failed, there’s Evasion. Plus, constantly moving and evading and attacking is called “Active Combat” which I prefer than Holy Trinity (tank taunts/soaks damage, healer heals, dps well, they dps). If I wanted that type of gameplay, I wont be playing Gw2. If gw2 will adapt that game play, I will leave gw2 (and im sure many others too). Nothing new to see here, move along..

tl;dr: just NO to Holy Trinity.

Personal Story, Expansion, New Armor, New Crafting, Extended Level, Awesome Skills, New DEs, etc. etc.

Fact is, there will always be people who will not like stuff, new and/or old. Some loves P.S. (me included and many of my guildies and friends do), some hate it with a passion. That’s natural: some likes red, others hate it, some likes chocolates, some despise it.

Some likes permanent contents, some hated it (i.e. non WvWvW people hated EotM), some loves temporary contents because it makes things more exclusive and feels more special, however, some hated it because they’ll miss out. Some complained how this game is so hard, while others are laughing so hard how easy this game is.

So….there will always be two (or more) sides to the story. If you’re on the part that hates/dislikes it, then you’re SoL. If you’re on the part that’s been having all the fun, then good for you.

In the end, if things really don’t bode well for you, my suggestion is to move on. Because there will always be people who likes what you don’t like and vice versa.

Punished for not crafting?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: DeathMetal.8264

DeathMetal.8264

I don’t think you’re punished. Even up to now, I only use Lv78 zerker gear (though I do have Lv80 PVT gear) and yes, I sometimes run WvWvW in this gear if I am just lazy to change gear. So unless you really really really really wanted all BIS, then yeah, you could say you’re missing out, but not punished.

I will just copy/paste my reply from another thread:

Ever since the game started, and I had enough coins, I have been running on my Lv78 Exotic Berserker gear with Traveller Rune (yes, even before they become pricey). And I mean, ALL of my toons!!

Can I do dungeon with my Lv78 Zerker Gear? Yes
Can I do normal PvE with Lv78 Zerker Gear? Yes
Can I do WvWvW with Lv78 Zerker Gear? Yes (and I know I shouldn’t be glass canon in wvw, but just saying)
Can I do FotM and EotM with Lv78 Zerker Gear? Yes

Am I having difficulty doing all those things I listed above? Heck no
Am I being a problem that drags my team and slow them down? Heck no
Have I been kicked in PuG, be it in WvW, dungeon, FotM or EotM? Haven’t yet.

So what I’m saying is, as long as I can complete those I listed with my Lv78 Zerker Gear, I could care less whatever Anet throws out for the vertical progression people.

Don’t believe me?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GUKexYPL1cU

My video, the date is 2012, and if you expand the “Description” of the video, you’ll see I mentioned there I use Lv78 Gear with Trav Runes.

So yeah, Ascended, won’t affect me. I solo Champions in PvE with my Gear

It’s probably L2P issue, but since you’re solo and low lvl, I’d wager, you’re against a group event. If it’s not a group event, and you still can’t beat it, just L2P better and you’ll get it soon.

As for about making an impact for events, it’s been discussed countless times, and many said [and even a dev response iirc], it was pertaining to Personal Story. I mean, let’s face it, if someone killed SB and it will take a whole year for him to respawn, what will that do to new players? So many already are annoyed with “temporary” contents that players missed, what if all bosses in this game spawn only once a month just because some players would like to have an “impact”?

Even to the mobs, I’d hate for mobs to spawn every 10min, that’s just too long to wait, just cause someone wanted to make an impact…

I Gave Up On This Game Am I Wrong?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: DeathMetal.8264

DeathMetal.8264

People change, even our most favorite stuff gets stale, that is why something that you liked most before, can be bothersome at times. It’s just the natural order of things for us humans. I could say the same story with my experience with Diablo, and I threw in the towel for D3 (hated what it has become), but unlike you, I have never made any goodbye post to any community about any game that I loved.

Got tired of Warcraft 1, I said goodbye to the fond memories. Have enjoyed War 2, but have to move on again. War 3 was great, but it WAS great and I have to leave it too.
Same for Stacraft 1/BW, made so many friends, made stories, but it gets boring in time
SC2 is awesome graphics wise, story wise, I fell out of love
The Sims, what can I say, burned my pocket with all the expansions
Sims 2 and other iterations, I could care less after playing a few times
Sim City was awesome for me, except the last 2 iterations. I was hoping the latest will bring me back, but it turned me away even more

I could name you a lot of examples, like, I used to play Basketball, and Chess and I will have my eyes glued reading Naruto and Onepiece manga….

BUT we are human being, we crave for what we love. Sometimes, those we love before, are no more, sometimes, we just grow out of it, sometimes we get so used to it, sometimes we get really tired of it.

So I have embraced that part of me. I usually send email to the devs and developers whenever I moved on, hoping it will reach them and provide them feedback. After that, I move on to the next thing: be it virtual or real life hobbies.

I understand that you said this game was different from what you were expecting, from Gw1. But hey, not everyone share the same taste as you, and the devs have their basis of making this game for what it is now. And the reality of things are: they can’t please everyone.

I wish you well, good luck, and may you have fun in your next adventure!

And no matter what I do, I can’t consume stuff in Left Inventory Bank Window.

also, to check if your character indeed get it, just learn Leatherworker in that character. If you already have 2 crafting professions, you have to disable one (don’t worry, it wont reset to Lv1, it will just be inactive). Look at your recipes, it’s probably listed as “Red font” and wolah, mystery solve.

Cheaper to talk to the vendor and see if it says your character already knows the recipe.

Oh, I didn’t know the vendor tells you that now. It used to not tell if you have recipe or not, cause I once bought double recipes :/
