I agree with Vayne that it’s not a biggie but it is a bit daft that players have to resort to a combination of external websites and the lfg tool just to be able to play the normal content. And it leads to crazy side-effects like people being abused in chat for daring to be in a map when they are not participating in the event. I’ve seen a very, um, “passionate” flame war between someone who wanted to coordinate the meta event and someone who was running an HP train. Both seemed to think that they had the right to dictate the whole map.
I’m also sure that the heavy lfg usage on those maps is one of the reasons that the megaserver does not work so well in HoT. The megaserver is trying to keep maps populated but a sizeable proportion of the players are using lfg to hop between the map instances.
I’m fine with the fractal appearing in the PVE list sometimes but I don’t like it when the list contains an activity. Those are basically PVP mini-games so definitely do not belong in the PVE category. I’ve been in Crab Toss where most folks are just standing around waiting for the timer to run down and I’ve been in keg brawl where both teams co-operate to make one team win in the shortest possible time.
I agree that there should be an XP “wrap around” reward and I don’t think it needs to have a particularly high value. Just some karma or a spirit shard or even just a chest containing salvage fodder. There are plenty of fairly low value chests/bags in the game already so they could be re-used. Or just give us a couple of AP.
The Johnny Cash islands please.
An ode to a pointy hat:
“Oh, pointy hat, pointy hat. Where art thou? Oh! There you are. Cool.”
It will consist of a single new map “Really Tangled Depths” and there will be a 4 day long meta and a 3 day long “autokick” on the megaserver.
Some forum regulars will claim to love it.
Underwater combat sucks in any game. It’s just a rubbish environment in which to fight.
(Excellent thread title btw…)
I’d love to be able to reorder the skill bar, especially on my main who is an ele.
Ele’s can attune to 4 different elements so those first 5 skills change with depending upon weapon choice and attunement so there is a large number of combinations to learn. The AOE skill hops around as do some of the other debuff and defence skills, depending upon your attunement, and that’s before you consider my much used Ice Bow. I’d love to be able to reorganise them to better match my “normal” rotations. As it is I suspect many ele’s stick to just one weapon and one or two attunements.
And who thought slot 6 was the most logical place for the heal???
I’m neutral on the other 4 suggestions.
Noob question: Is a “keep” a specific structure or is it a generic term for the various structures you can capture? I ask because at no point did we capture anything that was called a keep. That might be why I have yet to see a Lord so I may have spent that 90 minutes and never even had a chance of a spoon.
Tyria Mastery - After last mastery pt RESET

I also can’t see anything wrong in those screen shots. You need more mastery points before you can get to 5/5 on that track and in the meantime your surplus XP is going into another track. Nothing has “reset”.
Well, after a fairly miserable 90 minutes I have to say that I’m spoonless and none the wiser. I followed a comm-led zerg. We battered down lots of gates, beat lots of champs and got a bit of loot. The score looked OK but at no point did I see anything with “Lord” in the title nor any of the other Spoon droppers listed on the wiki.
So I’m scratching my head a bit.
Thanks folks. A clear consensus there.
I have a Norn ele who looks quite old. – grey hair and beard, quite distinguished. I don’t know exactly how old he is but he probably should not be gliding at his age.
But, yes, more age options would be good.
As the title says really.
I’ve no interest in playing any WvW at all but I am interested in the precious mastery point that comes with completion of the spoon collection and, somewhat annoyingly, that means I do need to play a bit of WvW. The question is, which bit is most likely to produce the spoon? I dived into a random one and followed the zerg for a while but I only saw one of the NPCs that can drop the spoon and he was dead long before I got to him. After that the WvW experience was mostly one of repeated frustration, confusion and death.
Any tips, bearing in mind I really don’t want to spend any longer in that game mode than I need to?

Relax folks. Next month they will nerf the HoT content, the obnoxious and rude elitists will leave the game and we can all relax and have fun again. HoT brings out the worst in some people.
A big “yes please” to account-wide recipes but not to account-wide professions.
I would, however, like to be able to buy a full set of crafting licenses on one toon rather than the maximum of 4.
Thank folks. That is as I thought and means I’ll be saving those particular gems for something else instead. If only the ship was instanced like the home instance and the EotN.
bought expansion wheres extra character slot

Yeah, it was a bit of a missed opportunity imho. A char slot should be included in all of the HoT variants to sweeten the deal, especially as there is a new class to try out.
I was a bit miffed that I misunderstand the free slot offer. I thought it was for everyone who pre-purchased, not just “vets”. It was my own fault for not reading the offer properly but that did not stop me feeling miffed!
Just checking that I’ve got it right.
The Airship Pass (on offer for one day only, folks) can be used from pretty much anywhere but does not give you the facility to return to where you used it. So it’s one way only.
Correct?
I agree that “unique” is a bit vague. I would have probably made the same error as the OP if I had not seen a previous thread about it. A slight rewording could make it a whole lot clearer.
I’m not sure why they added this restriction anyway, given that there seem to be two rings for each stat combo, the only difference being the type of infusion slot that they have. It feels like a pointlessly daft restriction to me.
Probably 4 or 5 hours tops. Long enough to get gliding plus a brief foray now and again to see if it is still as frustratingly annoyingly frustrating and annoying as I first thought. It is.
Your pics will not have been deleted. you’ve just got to find them…
Fun……………….
The titles are fine. I like ’em.
This thread might illustrate one of the problems with the HoT metas – they bring out the worst in people.
Some folks want exclusive maps, exclusive lanes and an exclusive say in what/when/where other players should be.
Yeah, good luck with that.
Any player who thinks they should have the right to decide who can be on the map is in the wrong game imho.
Personally, I wouldn’t join any squad that would have me as a member.
Heck I would be even happier if they reached 20g/coin.
The end result is either recipe costs will change or more supply added.
20g each???? You must be crazy. Why buy them for 20g when you can buy them from me for only 19g. *
(*This offer expires in 7 days.)
This could be a great way of tempting players like me into HoT. They should add a couple of HoT options to the normal daily PVE selection rather than adding a new category. They should make at least one of them quick and easy. If you are looking to do three quick dailies for the chest you’re going to choose the three quickest/easiest ones. The Tyria vista and the gather tasks are a no-brainer but there is room for another quickie to tempt those short of time, especially on those days where the third choice is between a tedious mini-game and a world boss. Once you start tempting people in to HoT then they will start to feel more comfortable there. Dailies could also include parts of the HoT meta events and would boost player numbers for those bits.
And I don’t buy into the “don’t upset the non-HoT owners” thing. As long as non-HoT owners can still do the same old dailies there is no problem with there being other options on the list. Buy an expansion, get access to more stuffs.
Yeah, only a couple of thousand files for me too. Sounds like the OP is downloading the whole game, either because of a glitch of because they have moved the executable or GW directory.
If you want to PvP then pick the best PvP class and make do with it for the other games modes (or make another toon). No point going PvP’ing with a jack of all trades, that’s like going racing in a boat that only leaks a bit.
Well, I can’t speak for others but I’ll be checking the prices later on to see if it is worth selling some of mine.
I’m surprised that no one has mentioned that the only reliable way to get the new stat sets in HoT is by crafting them.
That’s probably because no-one plays HoT.
(Soz, that was just too tempting…. ;p)
I’m an epic hero. I don’t want to have to run away from a short man dressed as a mushroom.
It’s a definite “yes” from me, but I’m not sure about the ethics of selling girl scouts.
A pointy wizard’kitten, please. You can’t be a proper wizard without a pointy hat.
I only frequent the 1-20 fractal LFG and I’ve seen one or two AP requirements there too, as well as plenty of “zerk only” and “exp only” things. Cringe-worthy really, given the easiness of those fractals. I just dive into any old group and it almost always works out. Occasionally you do end up as part of a dreadful team but that’s OK, it just maybe takes a few more minutes to get the job done. No biggie. Last night we were doing Fractal 2 and only two of us knew what to do, which gave us a certain amount of challenge with the three wisps but we got there after a few goes hehe.
I didn’t even know we could see other player’s AP total.
Valve is evil.
Adobe is evil.
Anet is not evil.
You get one point the first time you do it. You don’t get a point if you do it again on another character.
I have to say that only getting a single point for all that work is a bit miserly!
Press H and click on the achievements tab (2nd from bottom I think). Anything with a red mastery point symbol are the ones you have not done. There are some to be had from world boss fights like Teq and TT which can be done “solo” alongside the mob. Living story 2 is a rich source of points, but not cheap if you need to buy the gems with gold or $$$. Also quite a few in fractals which are not solo but are very casual if you do 2, 10 and the daily one. I’m a solo player (plus 3 daily fractals with pugs) and I have around 40 central tyria points, which unlocks everything except the last legendary crafting tier.
It’s the HoT points I struggle with. I have, um, 1 point. Gliding. Maybe I’ll go back to HoT one day. Maybe not.
I can’t decide whether you are real or just trollin’ but assuming the former, and assuming that you still have your login details, just download the game and dive back in. You can decide after that whether you want to spend money on the expansion.
Hello. Rock here. Scissors are fine. Please nerf Paper.
I think it probably can be done but I can see why they would want to discourage it.
Of course, it wasn’t a problem until the new guild hall thing. You could just make another guild and invite the existing members to the new one. You can still do that but the guild upgrades stay with the old one. I guess you could rep the new guild and just switch to the old one when you need to, thus reducing the harassment (yep, I’m curious about that!)
I quite like stacking, and I don’t see why the OP should get to say how I should play.
A game should never make you sad, m8.
+1 and +1 again for shared recipes. Makes no sense for them to be character-based.
I’ve read this thread carefully and added those badges to my TODO list ;p
Slightly off topic. Today’s daily boss is the Megadestroyer. I zoned in a bit too late and found the waypoint contested so I ran up the hill and glided down inside the volcano with a big grin on my face. Awesome!
(Hmmm… “glided” or “glid”?)
I agree that merging them would make sense. It’s all one game really and some stuff like gliding is now across the whole game anyway.
Anything with a once per day limit will sell well (as long as it is not account bound!) I’ve made some great gold out of crafting heat stones and grow lamps recently but it does depend on what mats you tend to accumulate. Sometimes it can be more profitable to craft the stuff that is used for crafting those once-per-day items. Also look at orich plated dowels and some of the related inscriptions.
If you’ve been in the game long enough to be worrying about birthdays then surely you can scrape together enough gold to buy an extra char slot. 800 gems cost about 150 gold at present rates.
