My sister and my mother are alcoholics and my mother is in a very bad state thanks to that now…

I do not drink alcohol and I forbid alcohol for our x-mas celebrations and most other things we celebrate. Have you heard about “Kräftskiva” or “Midsommar party”? It’s something we have in Sweden and alot of people are drinking lot’s during these days and I still forbid it on these days.

Now to the point of all this, I do not mind drinking in game as it does not hurt anyone as it is fantasy and not reality. People have to learn to see the difference between a game and reality.
I am not a parent but if I was I would have sit by my kid while playing a violent game or a game with alot of sex, alchohol, foul words and drugs until I can see that my kid can handle it no matter if it says 3+ years on the box cover. And I would never let my kid play a game alone that I have no idea what it is about.

So again, if you can’t see the difference between a game and reality I would suggest that you do something else and found a doctor to help you with that problem. The fault is not the game.

Wierd… I havent played that JP last wintersday and I will not play it this wintersday, I don’t feel forced to do it. If I where to get the Shoulder skin then the JP would be the least of my problems but I know that it is impossible for me to get so I don’t bother doing anything that has to do with that.

Why do people say score doesn't matter?

If the rest of the team has 100+ and you have 30, and it was a close game.

Definitely you are dead weight

Well typing everything with uppercase letters help almost as much as score does to a game.

So you are calling me dead weight when I defend home point from being captured through a whole match? Now usually I do get scores sometimes, I do this as there are players trying to take home point and I kill them but most of the time I get to fight Eles or other tanky builds and the fight can go on for almost the whole match if I don’t get help. But I know for sure that as long as I keep the cap point in my teams colour I am contributing to the team with or without any personal score. On the other hand for a tanky build trying to take the cap from an enemy player and who never succeeds to cap the point, well that player is a dead weight.

Please read first.

It would NOT be a close match if you bunked or defended the whole game.

I did read and I did understand it quite well mind you. If I defend or not won’t result in uneven matches, it is all depend on what strategys both teams are using. As a defender I evaluate if I am needed at home for example and I may move to another location if needed but still as a bunker I am traited to be guarding a point from being captured by the enemy team thus I will stay on a captured point and thus I will not gain very much personal score, still I am doing a darn good job holding a point from the enemies if they try to take it but I can keep them from doing that but still I gain no score.

My other teammates can make mistakes and we will loose points so we can iether loose, win or we can have a very close match. Defending capture points is one of the most important positions in this game and it usually gives you the least points.

If you go into every match and do the same strategy without adapting, you won’t win as many games imo.

Defending capture points, gives you capture defend points. Its one of those top player stats at the end of matches. Also, unless you never lose the base ever, you get the neutralizer points. Also part of a bunkers job, is to res and stomp. Plus just cause you are a bunker doesn’t mean you should never attack something, you touch something that dies you get the kill assist points. Granted you might not be top score, but gimme a break…. if you got no points in the match, its because you suck period.

Plus with these new hot metas, who isn’t a bunker? lmao….

If you think the conquest game mode was invented in gw2, you are whats sad, nerd.

Let’s say in situations I get every now and then, I end up fighting 2 Bunkers and 1 DPS, I fight them at the cap point I am defending and also my team “owns”. If I leave they will capture that point but if I stay and fight them I will keep the cap point for my team and they will have 3 people trying to cap that point with no luck while my team caps the rest of the map. Still I will not be able to DPS through their heals so can not down them and there are no team mate that I can revive so how in the world will I be able to get points? To get points from a capture point I need to neatralize it and/or capture it.

And talking about not reading, I started with saying that I need to adapt, look at the bold part in your quoting me. What I mean is that I am traited to defend and that I shall do, leaving an unguarded cap at current meta can mean the loss of the match thats why I need to stay but with good communications and good eye on the mini-map I know exaclty when I need to move or not.

Also I never said or atleast I didn’t intend to say that zero points what I have in a match, I am usually top scorer even though I am defending but what we where talking about was that score is a measure of a good player as it isn’t. It has nothing to do about how good you are.

And if you stubbornly sit on home point and the enemy team ignores you while 5v4’ing your team on the map?

Well as I said above, if you have good communications and know what is going on on the map you will not do that and if you doing that you are doing things wrong.

ok so you are saying youa re the most valuable player because all you did all match was fail to capture a 3rd base, but were a successful distraction? Sure this helps the team sometimes, and I do it myself. I might run far and try to distract 2 or 3 enemy players while my team caps the rest of map, but if thats all you ever do, or if you do this the majority of the time, I’d say you are covering up the fact you are not that good and thats really all you can do.

But like you said yourself, even though you always bunk a base, you are usually top scorer, and that is my point. I’m not saying that is the case everytime, I’m just saying good players consistently score higher then bad players… Regardless if they play mostly defense or offense. And again, for the 10th time, i’m not saying top scorer automatically means mvp. This goes for any team sport. Look at Andre Igoudala on the golden state warriors last season when he got mvp for the championship…

I said if I where to stay at a cap as I have it to guard it from others to take it, then 3 people comes and try to take it. Should I leave to let them capture it or should I stay and defend it as a defender I am and thus keeping them from capturing the cap point I am on, I never said anything about failing to cap I said I owned the cap and if I left I would loose the cap.

May edit post as I am going to finish reading this post now.

Edit: Also I want to say that it may have sounded like I was the most valuble person in the team but that I do not mean becouse a bunker isn’t good themselfes for example if they don’t have a cap that means they have to cap it and that is almost impossible for a lonely bunker, thats why someone with high DPS is good with a bunker. The whole team build is important and not just the bunker, what I am saying is that a bunker is the one who will score the least personal score if everyone is doing their jobs the right way and have a good rotation.

Why I am usually top scorer is becouse I usually play SoloQ and it is hard to have good communications with PUGs and thus I end up in more fights where I need to rez and stomp more and some players do not support me when I get to much attention and that leads to me loosing cap and I need to neutralize and recap and that gives me score. But when I play my guild team I rarely loose cap and I get help only when I need it wich means less kills, less rezes and less captures wich is less score.

Still personal score means almost nothing when it comes to how good a player is, it is like using AP as a measurement on how good you are at running dungeons. It gives you a hint but it does not have to be a fact.

I am not a pro or a big fan of ESL though I watch it from time to time… With this meta I think they would do good in using the treb, maby they will build a team centered around the treb to counter the meta. If the treb is used right it can be the reason for a victory.

I’m using the party function as intended, I am allowed to play ranked with any of my friends. This is also extremely irrelevant, and you make the decision to queue by yourself.

You’re rigging matches just stop…

Sounds like you’ve been running into too many 5 mans.

Join a guild, make some friends, form a group, enjoy.

Always been guilded but I solo mainly (until now). 3 diamonds and an emerald friend? Don’t even try.

Not that I am taking any sides as I don’t know the truth but to this statement I am going to say.

Me and a few Guildies are playing PvP a few times a week and most of the time we are 4 players who play PvP the most but then a little now and then we have a few players in our guild that is interested to play ranked with us so we let them join us.

In our case we are “only” emerald all of us but I think you get what I mean.

Oh… And by the way, havent devs said that they will fix the BUG that makes players loose pips when someone leaves their team? It is just that it takes time to fix I guess and we can only hope that this bug gets fixed on teuseday.

Why gain and loose max 3 pips?

I have been thinking, why is the system like this? Why is it so that if I loose to a bad team I loose max 3 pips and why do I gain 3 pips for winning against a good team?

Why make it harder than needed (in my opinion).

My thought is this:
Why not just loose 1 pip for loosing and gain 1 pip for winning? And to make the game less unforgiving if you loose a tight fight with “close” score like 400 vs 500 you won’t loose a pip. This will make players not give up when they are loosing (yes I have seen that happen) and it won’t matter if the oponents are meant to be hard or easy, if the fight is a good one no team gets punished for it.

They do not care, they got HoT box money and if people leave; no big deal to them. Infact that is a good thing, less server costs! Win win for them.

This is pretty stupid… If it where this case their marketing would be a totally bad.

First of all, I don’t think most of their money comes from box sales but from gem shop. Second, if they thought that just ignoring community after box sales just becouse they earned enough money on the sales then they would be ignoring potential new players coming to the game (buying more boxes and more gems). So rumor of bad communications is spreading on the internet and may destroy sales and thus in the end make Anet loose more money than they earned. A bussiness is about growing and get bigger income not just to stop when you have reached a specific numbers.

I agree that communications has been bad the last few weeks but I bet the reaseon is not becouse they don’t care.

it’s a melee condi build homes.

manage your condis and kill them. they have like 16k hp and poor stunbreak access.
sure, they use blocks but just use an unblockable skill.

I have got some work for you now.

Just use an unblockable skill you say? Now what I want you to do is give me atleast one unblockable skill/trait for every class that will turn the tide of the battle against a Revenant with Crystal Hibernation for example.

So you like the game mode less becouse you get more options now? I mean it is not like you can’t play the game just like you played it before.

That wouldn’t give me any progression towards the wings, which is the entire point of doing any PvP in the first place. Why do people keep offering non-suggestions? “Oh, I hear you’re having trouble getting a flight back home to Chicago for the holidays, why don’t you take a bus to Omaha instead? Wouldn’t that solve the problem you have expressed?”

I can’t get the Raid achievements, since raid was introduced it made me hate PvE (That is not true though).

This is also an issue they need to resolve, but it’s not the most immediate one. But yes, more ways to earn the raid rewards would be good too.

The achievements are meant to those who enjoy to play the game, something for them to be happy about.

and that would be great, _if they did not tie cool rewards to them. If the only thing you got for completing the Ascention achievement line is “you completed the line” then I would have no problem with it, but since it’s necessary to get those wings, it’s necessary to complete for people who have absolutely no enjoyment from the associated activities.

Well with your comparison it should be more like the flight to Chicago is still going as usuall but they have also added a bus that takes you to Omaha and as a congratulations for surviving the trip you get new cool wings. If you don’t wanna go to Omaha then don’t go there. If you want the cool wings I guess you have to rida along and try to survive the trip.

2. Well I don’t see that as an issue, it is an content not designed for me, then it is not an achievement I am elligeble to have. Why should I?

3. The cool rewards is a way to get players interested in stuff that then have never tried before. If you don’t find it fun or entertaining then it probable isn’t something for you. Now we can debate the difference between GW2 and most other MMO’s where stuff are required to be achieved to be able to continue in the game where GW2 only have a few convenience rewards and fluff rewards. I like that I get cool stuff for compeating achievements and I don’t mind that there are stuff that I will never be able to get a hold of, I can still enjoy the parts that I do enjoy in the game and I am not forced to play any content that I don’t like.

The achievements are meant to those who enjoy to play the game, something for them to be happy about. I would stop playing as soon as I found myself going out of the way to get achievements or cosmetics… I mean it is a game, a game is meant for entertainment, if it becomes a chore or second work I would quit asap. But well that is me and my opinion.

Have you tried CC or condi cleanse?

Comeback and report results.

I’ve tried CC. They constantly have 2 stacks of stability when they dodge roll. And if I CC, I sometimes get taunted for 4 seconds.

I’ve tried immob or chill or blind… But they have resistance.

Have you tried CCing when their stacks of stabilities are gone? Have you tried Immob or chill when they are not in mallyx stance?

lol, all smart Revenants carry Enchanced Bulwark and have you even tried Shiros? You know, the instant stunbreak, dodge and removes chill, cripple and immobilize? You CANNOT trap a Revenant with conditions or CC.

Oh, there is no need for Glints stance, with the power from Mallyx and the mobility from Shiro you got everything you need to kill people. Revenants that use Glint are just holding themselves back.

These are the counters presented on Meta battle:

Getting Chain CC’d while in Mallyx stance
Heavy boon removal combined with high condi pressure.

= Pretty hard to counter a Revenant with this build.

Got that garbage map like 50% of the time… You can’t even choose not to play that map, unlike other maps which you can choose…

what? Uh… you know you can uncheck it before you start a PvP match and they you will never play it.

Well actually I am suprised and sad, I have been pretty defencive against complainers here on the forums but almost ever since release of HoT it feels like Anet is abandoning a sinking ship… Less red posts and no “interesting” information Twich like ‘Point of Interest’ or ‘Guild Chat’ … It’s like nothing is happening. We got information about coming balance patches so I was waiting eagerly for today to be able to play my Guardian again whithout needing to Build for DH… Well one can dream but atleast I was hoping for some nerfs to the top played classes but not a single one, in fact it almost feel that the bug fixes made them stronger. Way to go!

Hmmm…. I havent bought mats for a single Ascended armor piece I have and still I have crafted most of them. Now I have all Ascended I need so instead now I sell all ascended mats that I craft and earn alot of dough And you know what!? I do not grind or farm, I only enjoy playing different content of the game.

You should try it, GW2 actually gives you alot of entertainment if you try to enjoy it instead of grinding and farming gold to buy stuff from TP where players have set the prize.

To those argueing about it be changed or not becouse people will be angry.

First of all some outfits has actually got changed after that they have been available in the store, the monks outfit for example so it is perfectly possible that the skin will get a better glow.

On the other hand with the monks outfit still as an example, people raged at the forums becouse they changed it and people had spent real money for the old look.

Does it matter that Just a flesh wound.3589 does not think that the change will happen? No.

I will probably never get the skin for myself but I agree with OP it looks alot better with the glow and it fits the icon immage alot better too.

Or better yet. Make elite spec’s to something they where meant to be, an extra special specialization wich gives you new skills and weapon but not a over buffed class. With this I mean Anet needs to nerf all but two elite spec’s so that they are not a must.

If it wouldn’t had been so that I use all my mats for guild hall I would have more gold in GW2 from just playing now than I would have from just playing before. Mats are expensive like crasy. I have been crafting ascended mats since ascended crafting was introduced, now I don’t need Ascended crafting anymore so I sell all ascended stuff I craft each day from just playing and well I earn almost 30-50 gold each day from just that and then I buy Elder wood, Quartz crystalls, Flax and coarse sand for it all. You wanna make money? Sell crafting mats for that money buy cheap Black lion ticket weapons on TP, wait and then sell them, repeat.

As someone who has played quite a few MMOs out there it seems to me as if this game was designed for those incapable of using but a fraction of what they know, because every other MMO I have played out there does not limit me, allowing me to use my character to its full potential, i.e. if I have learned 40 abilities I can use all of them, at any given point, which is what GW2 never allowed and it is absurd and idiotic and the cause of major frustrations, e.g. when you find yourself in a situation where you could use a different ability than you have slotted and cannot equip it because you are not given the choice to use whatever you have learned in the past (which is stupid, because we all have a choice, only ANet denies that fact),

THAT is crippling, NOT conditions. It’s limiting and frustrating not being able to use everything you have learned.

ANet’s argument: game would be imbalanced… blah blah blah

- there are ways to make it balanced. Those who don’t want find reasons, those who do find ways.

Many hardcore MMO players refer to GW2 as casual, hand-holding c**p for many good reasons.

Hmm… One of the main aspects of the whole Guild Wars series that I like is that you only have a few skills available. As I am someone who have played not a few but many MMO I love this machanic best of all.

And to OP, well I don’t agree with you at all accept for Build template. Some things needs to be checked at but not reworked.

Delete the guild missions !!!

The existence of PvP Missions itself is not the problem. My PvP- Guild is happy to get a chance to build our Guíldhall without going to PvE. The real problem are Guildmissions which dont encourage to play successful.
Summoning Heros is one example, personal score is another one. Especially personalscore missions are annoying. Most of the time our guild decided the outcome of the match to early, personal score was not even near the points. Personal score can be an mission that punish good teamplay. And even in close matches you get punished after 15 minutes if both sides where fighting in an balanced match on three notes.
In the end we also made this personal score missions, but only because we activated the score-missions permanently the whole week every match. At some point you can make this mission random.

Conclusion: PvP Missions are good, but only the rankpoint- and “win the match”-missions. Personalscore and hero-missions can be a reason to stop trying to win a match as good as possible. Maybe they should change these mission to a "stomping mission or an “capping mission”. Or for stronghold some kind of mission like “win your match without loosing both/one door on your side”

This Summon heroes Mission not only makes PvEers ruin the fun for PvPers but me and my team was thinking ‘Maby we should just defend and summon alot of heroes’. We didn’t but this is totally plauseble that others do so this is not a good PvP mission. PvP missions should be only about winning (But with a few specific conditions as worminator.5174 suggested).

Elite Specs have made Core specs redundant

This is all just my opinion and how I feel about all this, I may be wrong but I just wanna give my two cents.

A few weeks ago I said bah, I can fight any Elite spec on my Guardian… Hehe, well now eveyone have learned how to play their Elite specs and found best build with them.

All elite spec disch out a good ammount of damage while being able to block/evade at the same time and they heal alot and they are overall tanky.

I play Scrapper mostly and I don’t want a nerf but I am pretty sure it needs one but worse are Reapers, Mesmers and DH with their very big AoE’s and CC and survivability.

Reapers Conditions do crazy ammount of damage even though they are more or less unkillable.

DH are not that hard their traps has good visuall tells (If they are not bugged) but they do way to much damage and can keep most classes trapped without any chance of escape (Now you say use stability. But yes if I had some but I don’t, what I do have is stunbreakers and they do not help). So my advice is to give Stunbreakers a stack of 1-2 Seconds Stability too as this new CC meta could need it.

Druids and Elementalists are what I hate the most, not only I can’t kill them but they do so much condition damage that it is redicolous. I don’t mind that I can’t kill them becouse they can heal very good (that is the point of druids) but they only need condition damage stat to do damage enough to kill every non Elementalist, Druid or Reaper. It feels like in the end every class is going to be like: Healing/Condition damage, Buffer/Condition damage, Tanky/condition damage becouse condition damage only use one stat too be good. Yes I can use cleances but… Most of them removes 1 condition and goes on a CD and there is one or 2 skills that removes all and is also then on CD (This is not true if you play elementalist though) and Druids and Eles gives you constant condition damage.

This is how I think it should work; you wanna do massive damage? Okay then you will be easy to kill. You wanna be able to survive 3 players? Okey then but you won’t do much of damage. You wanna be ok at everything, yes but you won’t be able to kill on 3 hits and you will not survive 3 players but you will be good overall. If you go tanky or healer you go tanky or healer not tanky with alot of Condition damage.

Door breakers...

I just lost a match in a few seconds, two in a party against a full premade… Realy bad that full premades are teamed against 2 grouped or solos even… But that is another story.

What bugs me is that 2 elementalists kept a gang of doorbreakers alive during the whole charge, most died after the first gate but the rest of the team had a good stream of doorbreakers and with their firedamage they did the NPC’s pretty quick.

Our team was pretty bad sure but 2 eles could stay alive keep Doorbreakers alive while giving 2 of us enough damage to kill us sooner or later.

My advice is… Iether make Doorbreakers unhealable or nerf their incoming healing.

Sooo… After answering to all this I am thinking. What in the world does this have to do with anything OP even said? It was about the Raid being to complex for casuals who want’s to play their Build in a PUG and being succsessfull. Well Raids is the only content in GW2 that is made to make the Elitists happy. We casuals can do everything else in the game.

I would be happy if everything but the raids were casual friendly.

But as I see it, the raids are just the pinnacle of gating most things of HoT behind organized groups, or at least requiring a long time commitment.

GW2 having no raids was one reason I liked it so much, and I woldn’t even care so much about them anyway. But together with all other changes, and the direction GW2 seems to take now, it really starts to feel like other MMOs (e.g. WoW).

I suppose the point of OP and this thread is to discuss what GW2 still distinguishes from other MMOs.

I don’t mind raids, it is not my cup of tea as long as raid content wont be the center of Future GW2 content I am okay with that. I mean I am so looking forward for comming LS and I hope that next time won’t only be the next raid wing but also with a LS part that has nothing to do with the raid.

But everything else but raid is casual friendly, HoT maps are hard but they are not impossible and there are almost always people around you to help you with group events and HP’s. Since HoT released I have mostly played solo and I have done most of the HP’s, not solo but there have always been someone there to help me.
But okay, I wouldn’t mind if HP’s where made soloable or as some idéas I have read about with difficulty choices. It wouldn’t have any bigger impact on how I play but the ovarall difficulty in the maps is perfect in my opinion, not to east and not to hard.

They could base it on the max guild roster size. You know the guy you gotta pay to increase your guild member cap? That. If your are a first level guild with the lowest member cap your upgrades are cheaper. The higher your member cap the more you pay.

Exactly! And if you increase your roster size, you’ll have to pay the materials/gold needed to move from e.g. Tavern Restoration 1 for guild size 1 to Tavern Restoration 1 for guild size 2. That way, people can’t kick their members, upgrade their guilds for cheap and invite everyone back – they’ll have to pay the materials needed for their guild size.

It would have been fairly easy to create this system but instead anet decided to kitten over small guilds. Hopefully this was just due to a lack of time and not because they don’t care, and they’ll fix it sometime in the future.

I am a guild leader since 14 november 2013 we had many members now we don’t …let’s say 10-15 daily online members,that is a small guild,yet we don’t complain about the upgrades and we work hard to get our amazing guild hall in a nice shape.
We got all the buildings (tents for now) available and many of the upgrades.
And we are working constantly on it.

Good for you that you don’t mind grinding for all those materials you’ll need to get all those things back that you used to have before anet took them away. The upgrades I want back are unreachable for my guild (number 1 priority would be the wvw +5 supplies buff), so I can choose between suffering in silence and letting anet know that the new system isn’t working for small guilds, especially for the ones focused on wvw. I choose the latter.

I have only one question.How many members can be considered a small guild in your opinion?

I know the question wasn’t for me but…

less than five can’t be concidered a Guild was said in a stream. I would say that 5-20 is a small guild where everyone knows eachother, 21-100 is a medium Guild and over that is a big guild. Now I am not talking about members, I am talking about active members.

Well first I am going to say that not every but most content in this game is reachable without farming or Grinding thus nerfing loot and gold drops does not have any impact on how atleast I would play GW2. Now I know there are a lot of people out there who want’s gold so they can buy their Precursor or Legendary even or other crafting mats from the TP. Some players gather the materials themselves and do this over and over again just so they can have what they want as soon as possible.

Well atleast for me a game is a game and is meant to entertain you so I do what I find entertaining in the game and by doing this I enjoy the game to the fullest and in the end I have what I need to get myself a Legendary or other darn stuff. Sure there are stuff that are meant to be farmed but those stuff are not meant as content for me but for players who enjoy that sort of content.

I agree that PvP is imbalanced and Elite Specs are too stronk :P And I was realy sad that latest Balance patch was nothing but a few small fixes but I am still playing PvP as before and I am enjoying it, I have a guardian (Not DH) and I am doing very fine in PvP. I am pretty sure that classes like DH and Reaper where not supposed to be as strong as they are but I guess it takes time to find a nice balance to them so it doesn’t make them worthless instead. For example Turret engies was a thing a while ago and every engie had turrets in PvP and then they made condition affect Turrets and now no one uses Turrets anymore. What would be the best balance would be to find the line where it is nerfed but it doesn’t get slaugthered instead.

Enough of that, let’s continue: VB being filled with AFK raiders is realy a problem and I hope it get fixed soon but I am pretty sure this is somehting that Anet didn’t think of and iether they handle it or VB will be dead. But hey we actually got AB, TD and DS to play in and I have noticed alot more action to these maps now that AB has been less interesting.

Well I hate to break it for you but Raids is tailored for those who want’s a challange and thus will need a specific setup. I am supriced that people think that raids will be able to be PUGed, atleast now the first months before people have learned what to do and more. What you need is a TS or any other Voice chat and a good team composition.

Now some people and extremes has figured out the “best” builds to have in the raid but I am sure that if you find a nice guild to join they will probably let you be a tank or something with your Scrapper. But yes, you should probably be prepared to have atleast exotic gear to have a chance of doing it. Raids are supposed to be hard not something you can PUG.

Maybe it would be nice to try tanky variant with scrapper build – I gotta test it myself in the nearest future, at least.
BTW, if you’re on EU, you could also join Arbor Vitalis [AV] – we’re going to try famous “build diversity” in raids

I play ½-Tanky Scrapper and it is awesome, if I would go all out tank like HpVT I think I would be invurneble

Well, I would not want to be in the balance team… If people actually posted their ideas of balance with numbers.

Like… 15% damage nerf on True Shot.

Well actually it is their job to figure this out, we can give them reasons to why they are unbalanced but we can’t realy see the exact numbers as the devs can.
Contructive feedback is what we wan’t to be fixed and why it is overpowered, how it has to be fixed is often very hard to know for us without Devtools.

But even so in these forums screaming for a nerf there are lots of idéas of nerfs and buffs and there have been there almost since release of HoT but the few fixes that has happened from feedback from players that I know is DH skills has graphicly been toned down and fixed the invisible trap (Though yesterday I happened to be in one anyway).

I agree with OP.

Many replies with ‘A guild is not for 1-4 players’ and also that I agree with. But lets say I am in a guild with 10 active player, there would be no chance in a deep frozen pit of flames that we would be able to get a nice comfy guild hall this year. The amount of stuff needed to build stuff in the guild is of the roof and the Aetherium that was going to be the gating for Big Guilds and give smaller Guilds a chance to keep in even distance with the big guilds is not working. Aetherium makes big guilds have to wait yes but smaller guilds will not be able to build anything in a 3-# weeks becouse they lack materials mostly Flaxseeds and coarse sand that is needed for nearly every darn thing.

A small guild maby don’t care about the buffs or usefull stuff but decorations, making a nice home for you and your close friends is behind a big big big BIG wall that my guild of 30 active members and 10 constantly helping with the Guild Hall havent even reached yet. But I feel so sorry for smaller guilds who had banners and Guild buffs and now they have nothing.

I’ve seen a lot of frustration from people on the current upgrade system. There is no way to perfectly balance guild hall progression with consideration to guild size. However, I think there is a reasonable solution. Give guilds the option to halve the necessary materials for an upgrade by doubling the amount of aetherium needed to complete the job.

This way smaller guilds don’t get bankrupt if they don’t mind waiting a little longer.

All WvW guild claiming upgrades need to be free and unlocked at any guild hall level. You shouldn’t need to pay for a feature that was already unlocked before HoT launched. That’s just ridiculous.

Scribing should no longer be a crafting profession for individuals but a collaborative effort amongst guild members which is accessed via the new Guild Scribe npc. The highest level scribe in the guild converts over to the scribe npc’s level.

Of course it can be balanced.. every MMO I have ever played, which includes guild housing has them balanced with rewuirements scaled accordingly… this isn’t something that is a new concept its been around for donkeys years and done a million times better than this rubbish we got handed down.
The bottom line is this guild hall implant was merely a stealth gold/materials sink.. except its not stealthy at all and its far from evenly weighted.
Guild Halls absolutely can and are scaled based on guild sizes in many MMO’s and the hall/content/mechanics/costs/incentives and rewards tied to the guild are scaled accordingly – it’s not rocket science.. it’s just poor content decision making that came up with this one size fits all malarkey made even worse if they didn’t even realise the impact it would have across the whole guild spectrum.
To then just negate all the efforts guilds of all shapes and sizes had put in previously and tucked what they had behind walls that for some will take an age to break down again, if ever… well it speaks volumes to me and I am beginning to wonder if these people ever played an MMO in their lives because this kind of BS can lead to a proportion of the player base sticking two fingers in the air and uninstall at the next opportunity.
Why should 5 players have to grind an eternity for something a faceless 500 guild can farm in a few hours – they have no idea what balance really is, is what I am thinking.

Like other things that have been pushed through GW2 there is such a big disconnect between what could and should of been developed and what the bean counter says they want developed.. this is nothing more than another way of pushing gem sales and gem to gold conversions…. hence the sudden announcement that they are also taking stronger views on RMT.. something they should of been doing from day 1.
No, what ANET preferred was to implement the perfect gamewide sink because they knew it was a hot potato that had been cooking on the forums for some time.. and they have taken advantage of it.

Usually I go against comments like this becouse I can’t beleave Anet would sink so low… But this badly implemented Guild Hall and Scribing ammount of stuff you need… Well it makes me beleave you. I left Lotro for GW2 and in Lotro I had a guild with IRL friends only, we where 7 Active players and managed to make our Guild House a beatifull place to be in, allready at day 1 whe made furiture and nice decorations with ease. In GW2 I am a leader of a Guild with 30 active members and not more than 10 are helping with the Guild Hall, we yet have to get one single chair in to our guild hall. I thought the decoration was going to be a fun thing about Guild Halls, not a grind becouse I so much despice Grind … Ty Anet for making wonderfull idéa into a big letdown.

I can tell you to the day exactly how long it would take me to get 30 charged quartz for a full set of armor by my own harvesting efforts. I can’t tell you how long it would take me to get, say, 30 powerful blood for a full set of zerker armor from random loot drops, but I have no doubt it would take me longer than getting 30 charged quartz unless I was extremely lucky. Do you get 30 powerful blood or ancient bones or vicious fangs or any of the other rare mats in only one month?

So, what’s your complaint? Those who want insignia using quartz are sitting pretty compared to those who want insignia based on other rare mats. There’s no RNG involved.

1. Charged Quartz Crystal are Bound to account wich means I can not buy them at TP.
2. Charged Quartz Crystal can only be gathered 1 time per day no matter how much time you have to play, but powerfull blood can be farmed and aquired in one day if so one wishes.
3. Quartz Crystal can be found only on one availeble map + home instance and it is not enough to even charge one crystal so if you are out of Quartz Crystal you still need to buy from TP to be able to keep up to charge one crystal each day.
4 Charged Quartz Crystal need to have a daily daily routine while Powerfull blood comes to you as you play, I havent bothered getting powerfull blood but I have well over 60 of them in my bank, I havent bothered of Charged Quartz Crystal since I gave up Celestial crafting and I have 0 Charged Quartz Crystal in my bank. Now my guild needs millions of them (well atleast over 700 of them).

However, I think there is a reasonable solution. Give guilds the option to halve the necessary materials for an upgrade by doubling the amount of aetherium needed to complete the job.

This way smaller guilds don’t get bankrupt if they don’t mind waiting a little longer.

All WvW guild claiming upgrades need to be free and unlocked at any guild hall level. You shouldn’t need to pay for a feature that was already unlocked before HoT launched. That’s just ridiculous.

Scribing should no longer be a crafting profession for individuals but a collaborative effort amongst guild members which is accessed via the new Guild Scribe npc. The highest level scribe in the guild converts over to the scribe npc’s level.

I would rather have the Guild Scibe NPC to have all the ammount of exp combined from the guild into the NPC… becouse we are a few with pretty ok scribing and we put a few gold in to it.

I like the Guild Hall part alot but the ammount of needed flax and coarse sand is horrible and well our Guild Has been on 3k Aetherium for two weeks now and well if it was douled it would have been max again so IMO that is a no go. Less materials needed would be nicer, big guilds could then wait for aetherium and smaller guilds wouldn’t have to farm all day long to be able to build something when their Aetherium is max. That is the true point of the whole Aetherium thing I though but I was so wrong.

Just gonna chime in with my comments…

I think the whole Guild Hall and Scribing concept it utterly broken and the biggest gripe I have with it is that it requires so darn many Flax and coarse sand… I mean it is sick that we need it for almost everything in Scribing and for building stuff!

And all these sick Brown pigments …

Except for WvW stuff most of the Scribing stuff is for fun and cosmetic, for the sake of making your Guild Hall pretty, well a chair is more complex to build than a sword O_o

If Anet made Weaponsmithing now we would need, 200x oil to wax the 200x leather for the grip, 200x Stone, 100x coal to make a firebed, 100x water to make a bath, 300x iron ingots to make an anvil another 200x Iron ingots and 300x soft wood planks to make a hammer and with these things togheter with 30x Orichalcum Ingots to make the blade.

Having a Guild Hall and being a leader of it is more work than work, and before the expansion I had planned a Guildmember to be the decorator… He is still waiting to be able to decorate something. I wonder why the dragons isn’t dead yet becouse there are som many chairs and tables, houses and lot of pretty things in the world but if you have to go to Maguuma to gather Flaxseeds and Coarse sand every human in Tyria would be realy strong.

I have spent alot of Gold on Guild Hall and my guildmembers have to but none of us would mind it if Anet nerfed the ammount of Flax and Coarse sand needed and upped the ammount of pigment you get from Jungle Plants and Salvaging Dyes.

Why are people saying I do this much damage I am so über at sPvP!

While I say, I do OK damage but I can have 3 enemies Vs. me on point without loosing the point. Who is better for the team?

I have serious doubts about the validity of the previous statement.

Not sure if you’re talking about me, but I’m not trolling or whatever. I loved getting my first character to 80 and I had hoped the enthousiasm would continue after reaching level 80.

Unfortunately it hasn’t (so far) so I’m wondering if I’m doing something wrong or had too high expectations or anything like that.

If you think grinding 10hrs in 1 zone is not fun then you might want to look for a refund since H.O.T is a Grind

Anyway, on to topic.

What I do when I am level 80 is:
- Do map compleation (also doing this while leveling).
- Personal story and Living Story.
- All dungeons and paths.
- Fractals (Personally I am waiting for the december fix before I will continue to play Fractals).
- Play WvW.
- Play sPvP.
- Do world bosses.
- Do Jumping Puzzles.
- Level your crafting proffesions while playing the game and finally you will see that you will have enough mats to craft ascended wihtout paying a single copper at TP.
- Join a guild and do Guild Missions.
If you bought HoT you can:
- Explore the new maps and enjoy the neverending events.
- Now level masteries (I am doing this while exploring the new maps and doing the story with all my characters).
- Get you Elite specializations (Wich you eventually get by exploring).
- Do the new Story and get ready for comming Living Story.
- On Teuseday you will be able to Raid.

There is so much more that I do and have done, I have been playing this game since release almost everyday.

You need HoT elite specialization to be remotely competitive.

Could be true but I do prerfectly fine with my ordenary Guardian, well I am no ESL gamer but I see myself as good PvP player and I can beat all Elite Specs 1vs1.

Anyway, that wasn’t what the OP was asking about so without telling Lies and dearail this thread anymore.

What has changed since you played last seems to be:

Wardrobe system
Now PvE and PvP do not have seperate looks, what you use PvE is used in PvP cosmeticly speaking. You should if you have any Transmugation stones or crystals change them in to Transmugation charges. The charges are now used in wardrobe wich you reach from your character sheet and it costs 1 Transmugation charge per piece of gear you change. Dyes are now Account bound so if you have any alts log in to them and get all dyes they had and get 1 unidetified dye per duplicate dye. There is also something called Outfits now and they are a full suit of cosmetic that you can wear above your real gear, but most of the outfits are found in the gem store so be carefull when you buy cosmetics in gemstore, an outfit is an outfit and does not have body pieces.

Reward track
This can be found on the crossed swords where you enter sPvP on the 2nd selection. For each mach you compleate you will gain “experience” or reward points that will take you closer to a neat reward. If you win a match you gain more but you will still gain reward points even if you loose. You can choose reward tracks and some reward tracks needs some special condition to be unlocked.

Hot Join, Unranked and Ranked
At the moment Ranked is disabled but in Unranked you will be teamed with and against players that fits your MMR (Sometimes it feels like it doesn’t work).
To play hot join you just go to the crossed swords and in the 3rd selection you press “Play now”, this mode is totally broken and I usually only try out some new build there.

… I got to go now, there are alot more new stuff but this is a small portion of it.

The last maps I have played at VB we have been doing HP’s for extra rewards and to help players to get them while we are waiting for map to reset after we have beten all the bosses. Use LFGtool to find a map that aims to get meta compleated and after meta is done go out and hunt for HP’s.

I have done all HP’s before this on 3 characters, most of them I have always had other players there doing them, once or twice I have been there and failed becouse I have been alone. I just think some people don’t have the patience to wait alittle. So many players playing MMO’s think that all is about farming and getting everything Now! Now! Now! It is some kind of MMO mentality.

In a little over three weeks I have been playing GW2: HoT now and I still have lot’s to do, I cant stop doing the meta events, I am planning on finding some PoI’s, vistas or HP’s and then I stumble upon an event and then I do that and suddenly I find myself following the Event chain and I end up doing the meta event. Ofcourse if I don’t use LFG tool the map are rarely succsessfull but it is really fun to do! I do like that there are so few waypoints and 75% of them are mostly contested so that I have to walk/glide through the jungle and having better chance of stumble over more events. If you just take it easy, every event is pretty close to you. This is so much better than Orr!

A game can always improve and GW2 is showing alot of it!

Edit: Oh I would like to add another post!

I maxed all 9 professions in hero points for their elite specialization and am finding myself still playing GW2. I thought the xpac was supposed to be bad and have nothing to do from what I read on these forums, but after unlocking specs I still havent touched the tip of the game.

-Even though it has nothing to do with the expac but Dungeons are such a nice place to play now, pretty much no gold farmer or Speedrunners join my group now with the rewards nerf.

-It is sad that Fractals has been a total let down but from listening to constructive complaints from players Fractals will now get a good fix. Super!

-World Meta events take HUGE amounts of time (2 hr+ each meta), fail regularly, and the game spawns dead maps faster than then the U.S. Treasury prints money but luckely we all can use the LFGtool so we can all be on a map filled with players with the same intention (And I bet that is one big reason “usuall” maps are empty). As I use the LFGtool I dont have to spend 1 hour of map hopping to find an organized one, or spend 40mins before realizing there is no hope at all that the map is even going to make it to the end phase. Rewards like the bladed armor chest are RNG at the end but someday I will get it becouse I don’t play GW2 just to get the Bladed Armor chest.

-General focus on world events creates this feeling that I can controll what I am doing and I can also help those who don’t know what to do to understand the game too, that We are around 200 people on a map that fights for a common goal. As player, I finally feel very important as I am succsessfully leading people to victory. Getting anything great in this game seems to be just sheer luck. Whether is getting a precursor drop or another nice cosmetic. But it is still just fluff, it will come to me sooner or later as I just enjoy all the content.

-Rewards in general suck and seem to become less and less with each update instead of more. Cost of ascended gear has skyrocketed to the point of making gear for new characters an impossibility for those who think TP is the only place to get your crafting mats. If you weren’t and early bird that got your crap early from the TP, your pretty much screwed but as I said you can get your crafting mats yourself while enjoying the game. Don’t even think about trying to make celestial gear very fast… if your a ele and follow cele meta hype then you have to prepare to spend a few gold a day to buy 25 Quartz Crystals to convert them at a HP to a Charged Quartz Crystal one each day for around 45 days… That is pretty sick so … meh… Since Celestial stats all new stats has just been a pain.

-EVERYTHING is expensive. Whenever I’m standing in front of the TP, I feel like I’m living in the Great Depression and standing in a breadline with a 20$ just to buy one loaf (a.k.a one single strength or scholar rune). I would be affraid to see how expencive things would be if it where easier to farm gold!

-The expansion story part is pretty small, One platyer can blow through the story in less than an hour and don’t really feel compelled to play through it again just to get slammed with bugs from the last boss. The quality of the storytelling is fantastic and I can’t wait to see more! We can’t forget that we also paid for the continuation of the Living story.

Anet made a really good expansion and with a very neat replay value! I still got lots to do but I can’t wait to play the raid and to see more of the Living Story!

If you cant handle it with zerker then don’t go zerker. I play Guardian Zerker and die alot with it, I can’t handle it so now I am going Cleric and everything is so easy.
