You get your title for map completing once. You get your star for map completing on that character.
Current method is fine, imo.
Ok, but why not? What would be the harm in making the star account-wide?
Titles are already account-wide, aren’t they? Why should this star be any different?
Character progression. Map completion is character-wide, not account-wide. So unless you go about making Map completion account-wide (which would actually hinder the game experience replayability), then there’s no purpose in making the reward account-wide when it’s character-wide.
I’ll find you that if you can answer me:
Also making the game become a pay-to-win game instead of a buy-to-play game.
it isn’t already?
In what ways is it a P2W game?
That’s not my quote. I never claimed it was a P2W game.
And neither was my quote about players complaining about laurels. I never complained about laurels.
I think you’re confusing yourself.
Really? Then when and where did I complain about laurels?
Where did I say you complained about them?
Then explain how I’m confusing myself. Because that’s the only context I got out of “you’re confusing yourself.”
BLC items aren’t in the market.
Additionally, Gold→Gem exchange rate will skyrocket, benefiting players who already have Gems versus players intending to buy Gems. This will also make it so that becoming P2W will be easier as your Gems will be worth more Gold (so $10 after the patch would give more than $10 before the patch).

In PvE, there’s only so much a Mesmer can do, I feel more free in WvW, but even then, running as a solo roamer only gets you so far.
I think pokemon is the only game I played when you can’t have both conditions on at the same time
In Pokemon you could only have 1 condition on you at a time. If you were poisoned and fell asleep, the sleep would override poison. Same with any other condition, this is what some skills could utilize with self-inflicting conditions (better to be asleep then poisoned, especially if you don’t want that pokemon to die).
Also making the game become a pay-to-win game instead of a buy-to-play game.
But wait…you said…
I feel like people forget how useful Ascended actually are… not really that useful at all. The difference in stats is so negligible that food provide more stats.
How could it be P2W if what you’re buying is…in your words…“not really that useful at all”?
Laurels can get you more than just Ascended gear. It can get you crafting materials, boosters (that aren’t all available in the gem store), dyes, and more.
Don’t tell me you’re naive enough to believe that the complaints about dailies revolve around the acquisition of “…crafting materials, boosters (that aren’t all available in the gem store), dyes…”
I’m not the one making the complaints. I’m not the one pointing fingers. I’m not the one bashing everyones head for not agreeing with them. I have seen complaints of all of those, and if you continue to say that “it’s the only way to get Ascended” then you need to pay attention, because Ascended will become CRAFTABLE and you know what Jewelcrafters craft? They craft TRINKETS.
Calm down. Stay in the present. Don’t muddy the waters with “this will happen in a few months”. We’re talking how it is right now.
If you can find me a post or thread where someone claims dailies are unfair because of “crafting materials, boosters (that aren’t all available in the gem store), dyes” then I’ll concede you have a point.
I’ll find you that if you can answer me:

Every Zerker has beaten this since the patch.
Big difference
Full support guardians have also beaten it.
You can test all your skills in the Heart of the Mists before purchasing. You will eventually purchase every skill (assuming you care to), and can easily do so well before level 80.
I don’t see why they would need to implement something like this.
But then they’d lose a lot of their profits (namely via Transmutation).
The system works well in the long-term, just take the hit because if it worked in the short-term, the game wouldn’t work in the long-term.
They’re already working on adding more skills, potentially being added via skill challenges not skill points (so that lower level players can accumulate them without being overwhelmed and have to grind at level 80 to get their skills).

Wow, finally an intelligent post. You could take some tips here Esplen.
I do not care about group 1’s interest in getting the same rewards as people who play more time.
Forcing a player to play every day is not a good plan.
I believe I said in my first post here that content is what needs to motivate players to log in every day, not daily limitations. As others have said, dailies make the game feel like a job and a grind. It isn’t fun.
So what you’re saying is that it’s alright to be a bigot as long as I’m in agreement with your opinions?
Nobody is forcing you to login. Nobody is forcing you to do dailies. Nobody is making you grind.
People get rewarded for doing what they want. People get rewarded for playing how they want. You just aren’t getting the exact reward you want. You just aren’t getting rewarded for logging for one minute (which isn’t enough time to do anything, bar looting the trading post or gathering a node).
THE MAIN THING THAT PEOPLE DO NOT SEE IS THAT NOT HAVING ASCENDED WILL NOT GET YOU KICKED OUT OF A GUILD/DUNGEON/PARTY/WVW/ETC. IT’S NOT A REQUISITE FOR THE GAME. IT’S AN OPTIONAL ENDGAME EXPERIENCE, JUST LIKE LEGENDARIES.
Actually, Nurvus edited his post 3 hours after I posted my message.
Additionally, Critical Crafting (which is already in place) does not refund your materials (because that’s illogical, how can crafting a Bolt of Jute with 2 Jute Scraps not take 2 Jute Scraps?), but gives you bonus Crafting Experience (and thus more character Experience).
Gathering has a chance of “Critical Gathering” which allows the node to not break, allowing players to gather more (thus more experience and loot).
Killing has a bonus experience based on how long the mob has been alive (a “veteran” system, so that mobs like Moa’s will get killed by the people who actually want to level up).
Exploring will grant more bonuses in the near future, and be a requisite of the new crafting levels. (Not sure how “critical exploring” would work, even in your methods.)
All I see in your words are:
I want to sit in town and craft to 400 so that when I go out, I can gather and kill and level up super duper ridiculous fast, instead of having systems that don’t punish players for playing the game properly (leveling up your crafting as you’re leveling not TO level.)
But what do I know, I’m a troll.
@esplen i am a completionist i like to do thing’s 100% i guess its my ocd it just really sucks when i have to play things i dont enjoy.
I am on a not so great system and also when i dont enjoy something i dont really focus that hard :P
I have won a game
but i spent more than an hour and a half to get like 19% towards 2500 points. Aspect arena took me 15 games to get the achievement’s 1:15 total time and i really enjoyed doing so. i just dont udnerstand why im for ed to grind southsun for 3-4 times longer ?
I get 24 fps at my stablest. I average 14 fps with a high chance of spiking during crucial moments.
I am a completionist.
I have not missed any Living Story achievement (or limited achievement).
I do not complain about it because it is my choice to complete everything, both with and without my hardware limitations.
I finished Southsun Survival: High Scorer in 4 sessions. The first session was to familiarize myself and I got 300 points. The second session was to get as high as I could. Near the end, everyone left the zone except one other person and I. We started to farm wins off each other to maximum our efforts (at the rate that we were going, it would have taken ~2 hours to get both of us the achievement). When our instance merged with another group, I left. I left at ~1250. From there, I got to 2000 in my next session, then was tired (I could have continued, but I was burnt out) and in my last session, I powered through.
In some games, I would finish with 13 points. In other sessions I would finish with 90+ points. I would change my strategy based on what happened in the beginning. If I started with a Pistol, I would charge someone with a lot of goods and steal their stuff. If I started with the Sword, I would use it to get myself 8+ rations, then camp out in Owain’s Refuge. I also made sure to eat a ration at the last conceivable moment (which is why I would sometimes end with 13 points, if I did a mistime on the eating). I lied about how many rations I would have to give other players a false sense of security. I would stalk a player when dead, not to kill them, but to farm points off of them by running in front of them and pressing 1.
I did not complain about the achievement being difficult, because it really wasn’t, it just required time. There is a difference, please keep that in mind.
Go play WoW and then you probably won’t want to come back.
You should take your own advice.
But, technically, they’d be getting healed.
The reason why “healing” hurts undead is because it’s typically holy/light spells which is opposite to their unholy/dark magic (sustaining them). In this game, it is Magic that sustains them and Magic that heals.
If Healing Magic were to affect Risen, it would heal them because it could mend their sinew/muscle/structure.
Keep in mind that most healing Magic in GW2 is Water Magic, not Light Magic (if we were to assume that there are archetypes to magic, which there are, it’s just they removed the magic trinity of damage dealing).

As for saying that just because there’s Gold→Gem conversion means any attempt at making the game P2W is nullified is a very skewed way of looking at it. Keep in mind that with every new purchase (especially ones that a lot of players would desire) that comes out, the price of Gems using Gold will increase (depending on the demand, based on how much people want the item, of the item).
Yes, anything purchaseable with Gems is available to players who spend nothing in the game, but that doesn’t nullify the fact that spending real money is paying for ease of game (which is the whole purpose of Pay to Win). Want me to expand on this?
Also making the game become a pay-to-win game instead of a buy-to-play game.

Neither runes or food are going to break your build. They can, however, make your build [work better].
Wooden Sword is best sword.
Also making the game become a pay-to-win game instead of a buy-to-play game.
Not unless you delete and remake it.
I second this!
Also why not show us the price even if we can’t afford it..? :/
You can already see that. Look for High/Low/Average Conversion rate. The Average is the current price.
You get your title for map completing once. You get your star for map completing on that character.
Current method is fine, imo.
This was discussed a while back and a dev said it would be nice to have, but they were working on bigger fish.
I guess Esplen is the type of person that likes to get one lollipop from his mom rather than get a job and buy them.
Too bad gems can’t get you laurels, eh?
You get the most influence from doing a dungeon (10 per run). Each activity gives you 2 points.
Logging in (on each character) for ~10 minutes will give you 10 points per day.
And again with the “this other MMO has rested experience, so GW2 must have it as well”. Because leveling isn’t easy as it is.
Leatherworking Huntsman Weaponsmithing Jewelcrafting Cooking are solid choices for a Thief.
For all around useful crafting choices: Jewelcrafting and Cooking.
Actually, Dog, you’re the one who can’t comprehend that there’s more to life than lollipops as your entire complaint is that you are limited to one lollipop a day.
I would say dungeons, but with 30m-1h you’re not guaranteed to finish.
Because of that, I would suggest to just focus on finishing your PvE daily every day (at least 5) which will net you 35% of your current level not including doing the actual activities.
But you responded to someone talking about buying, not exchanging.
The only time I can see using the same weapon[s] in two sets is to utilize Sigil of Energy for getting more Endurance every 9 seconds. This gimps your skill-selection, but you can always change an offhand or a mainhand. (It’s still better to just run Sword/X + Scepter/Y).
iWarlock has a very, very low attack speed (attacks every 6s with 1s cast time) and a slow moving projectile. If you can’t avoid that, your bad.
Drop 3 warlocks with Phantasmal Haste. If they’re staggered properly, try dodging that.
It’s an old shattasm build.
If you want a full-squish phantasm build (it works better than shatter in PvE, in my opinion), run this
Ignoring the utilities (which should be Feedback + Blink + Situational, technically all three of your utilities are situational, but I usually run Feedback + Blink in most scenario’s), the traits opt for the most damage via Phantasms. This means you can sit back and play with a playstyle even easier than a Warrior while maintaining safety from the distance. I typically start with my sword out and plop a focus phantasm with a focus 4 for reflects, then switch to GS and just sit in GS until I need to swap for more reflects (if needed). If I’m in melee, I’ll do the opposite, starting with GS then switching to Sword and maintaining Sword.
It’s your standard run-of-the-mill Phantasm build that will give you high numbers (at least, for a phantasm) but let you sit out of the fray (in most cases, there ARE times where you need to be in the fray, that’s just dungeons).
I use this build for Fractals, Dungeons (including CoF P1) and open-world PvE (since I’m too lazy to swap to my Shatter build 18 times a day when I swap to Dungeons/Fractals from open-world PvE).
In WvW, you can use this build, but a shatter build is more optimal, both in AoE and in nuke potential.
Why not buy $20 worth of Gems five times? Nets you the same amount.
If you exchange larger amounts you get a marginally better exchange rate at times.
Not when buying gems.
Steam Mechataur’s are larger than Moa’s.
Worst: The voting itself. I don’t care enough to click ‘vote’ hundreds of times. Furthermore, people are probably voting for both candidates to complete all the achievements, making the ‘election’ even less accurate.
To get both the achievements, it only requires at most 5 to each candidate. If you have to vote more than 5 times, you’re wasting your usages of the buffs.
You can infuse it via the Mystic Forge, but you will lose the upgrade. (Think of it as changing armor. When you replace your helmet, you lose the rune attached to it.)
I play my engi without fastcast.
You’re not a grenadier then!
If you are, well, uhm…kitten?I’m not? My piano fingers say otherwise.
SO,you’re telling me…you use the grenade kit, frequently, without fast ground targeting, without any finger-saver macro AND you don’t have carpal tunnel yet?
Holy piano fingers,i bet you can smash a wall with them.
Technically, I’ve been suffering from early stages of carpal tunnel for a few years (weakened hand grip among other things. last year, it was painful to make a fully formed fist unless my hand was in a relaxed fist, not a gripped fist)
But no, I don’t get pain. League of Legends “calloused” my carpal tunnel, of sorts.
It would also make the map a whole lot slower.
I feel like the majority of this thread ignores Southsun Cove as a bright, sunny, enjoyable landscape with volatile enemies and risky viewpoints.
I dunno any of these problems you’ve been having and I’m an avid player. Never heard of them until just now.

Sums up this thread. Sad that people don’t understand still.
He is not saying he wants a gear treadmill. He is saying he wants a reason to get max stat armor. The only reason I can think of so far is so you can join cof p1 gear check groups.
Most CoF groups won’t get kittenpissed if you only have 1 or 2 ascended (namely the ones obtainable through dailies).
