They’re actually all really strong, just overlooked.
As an Asura Mesmer, I can say that I enjoy using Golem 7 occasionally, but I much prefer Golem D for the 3x Shield of Avenger (yes, it will blow a Shield of Absorption up to 3 times during it’s lifespan), in addition to doing damage and tanking pretty well.
Honestly want something like this for males:

Put a more attractive face. :p
Can’t put anything better onto perfection, sorry.
Electro, please keep in mind that Asura use Male Armors for both Male and Females.
So I’ll just go ahead and get this out of the way – if you play a game for 8+ hours day, lets face it…. even your friends would say you have no life. XD
Who said I have friends?
The drill goes on your hand, how is it a mount?
When you use it, it goes on your head.
If they’re like hot air balloons, think The Grove seed pods.

Done.
The gold/hour is First hour: 6g81s90c.
Subsequent hours: 6g26s.
Click link for math (ignore half of it since it applies to the Facebook buff that never got released).
If you’re talking about the Commoner Human, that’s a widely known Key farm method.
At current Gold → Gems conversion (3G50S/100Gems), it will cost 15.75G for 450 Gems (5 Keys) or 3,15G per Key.
At CoF, with a rate of 80s per 8 minutes, it will take ~ 4 runs to get the gold to get 1 Key. 4 runs is about 30 minutes.
Getting a Key takes about 30 minutes through the Commoner Human method.
Engi stealth isn’t quite on-demand. I’d recommend Engi or Ele as they have higher skill ceilings than the other classes, which means that you can keep learning for a lot longer.
Get ‘em while they’re hot! Impress your friends by moving around Tyria in a stylish manner.
Be careful, though, if you get hit by any stray attacks, you may lose your focus and be forced to walk normally again.
And yes, these are mounts.
And no, Arenanet doesn’t pay me for this… (or maybe I’m paid to say that.)
Actually no, the first build is main Staff, the second is main X/Focus.
Your post is mostly just bias in terms of build, you said it best yourself that certain
ones seem garbage to me
That’s just how it is. The best way to see it is that there are more viable builds than you know, you just can’t play them.
That’s not to say that you’re bad, it just means that they don’t fit your playstyle.
People were messing with code in chat and typed that. To fix it, relog.
There are a few swap builds. They’re typically 0/20/20/0/30 or 0/20/0/20/30.
@ButterOfDeath, but with any build, you have a main focus with that build and then you can do a few variable tweaks.
You’re not going to get a Berserker Full DPS Warrior that’s capable of providing AoE support to his group. He’d have to sacrifice some of his DPS.
With Mesmer, on the other hand, you trait into your playstyle/weapon skills moreso than your utilities. Your utilities are just what they shound like, utility skills. With other professions, your utilities are what define your build. As a Mesmer, your utilities accommodate and accompany your build.
When you need superior siege, you’ll understand.
Cheaper to buy off TP.
Nobody knows. beepboop
The rings you get that are Infused… are Infused. I kept my wording… distinguishable for this reason.
You can go to Idea Incubation lab for 6 ambients every 20-25 seconds
Then play a Mesmer.
How did you come up to that conclusion? :x
Out of that list only 3 have magic-related summons and only one has technology-related summons.
league of legends> Fizz and Veigar
diablo(2/3) > Necromancer/witch doctor and wizard
Torchlight (1/2) > Engineer/ember mage
Borderlands (1/2) > Siren/Zer0
The elder scrolls > Stealth mage
Dungeon defenders > mage
MNC > assassin
Team fortress 2 > Spy/Pyro,enjoy medic too
Shadowrun returns > Rigger/Shaman,also tried a decker and liked it
Wakfu > Xelor
Dofus > Foggernaut
Crossed out = never played or (in Diablo and torchlight’s case) generic caster/beatdown classes.
Name | Playstyle
Fizz | Annoy, Harass, Avoid, Escape
Veigar | Quick, clumsy CC (clumsy in regards to plop it down, but can easily miss) and huge, clumsy burst
Siren | Supportive. Build becomes trait oriented.
Zer0 | Stealthy Assassin
Stealth Mage | Must I say more?
Spy | Stealth with potential to nuke.
Pyro | Strong supportive presence and large presence on the field.
Medic | Stronger supportive presence.
Plus, mesmer feels like a weird mix of magic and stealth as stealth is limited, but much more present than on many professions.
This means that if i’d pick a mesmer for deception/stealth,i may prefer thief and if i’d go mesmer for magic i’d rather go necro or ele.
While I might agree in regards to not picking Mesmer for one attribute, keep in mind that Mesmer has all the attributes that the OP wants.
While it may be a good option,i’d rather start out with another profession: Mesmer’s balance and effectiveness seems very fragile to me.
And this is where I shine… cracks knuckles
Mesmers are a jack of all trades, master of none, when you first pick them up. Without traits, they are a weak, underpowered useless profession. But what’s that you’re telling me? Mesmers dominate in WvW, sPvP and are useful in Dungeons (PvE)? How is that if they’re terrible?! Because they, without traits, have no refined power, they are incompetent. Once you start to trait them, your powers become more defined and you can utilize yourself in any fashion.
Stealthy mage? Check. Stealth builds are potent, albeit not so much AoE Stealth Presence (compared to Thief, that is). In fact, Stealth builds are ridiculously strong with the recent “diversity” patch.
Nukey assassin? Check. Shatter-cat allows you to get in their face and burst them down. You can even start with an untraited stealth to get in close.
Support? Check. While most people don’t realize, Mesmers have access to some of the strongest heals in the game. 3000 AoE heal every 3 seconds BEFORE healing power.
More support? Check. Boon Removal, Condition Removal, Boon Sharing, Reflects, Mobility, AoE Quickness, AoE Vengeance, Portals.
CC? Check. Diversion for instant daze (especially when combined with traits to allow yourself to count towards it for a truly instant interrupt), Signet of Domination for a long stun. Various Pulls, Pushes, and Dazes in weapon skills.
I think you meant to say title.
Gold Find, as of this next patch, is becoming useless. However, I’m quite sure Arenanet will figure that out and either compensate or make it affect something.
Why is Gold Find useless? Gold, in dungeons, is now received at the end only. Gold in the open world is never more than a few silver.
Then play a Mesmer.
Almost all of that is gone without elite dungeons. I find that sad.
Fixed.
Vayne, you need to step back and read. You just argued with me for arguing for you. Your posts in this thread are degenerating in content. I hopped in to stop you both.
Please, tell me what you enjoyed in other games, not what the professions in this game do. I know what they do, I don’t know what you enjoy.
Arent the new skills that are coming out this year going to be purchasable via skill points?
Save them bud.
Up until we can use them for something other than mystic forge recipes or legendaries , they are utterly useless once you have all of your skills.
Possibly, Arenanet might do something fancy because players who make new characters will get overwhelmed with skills.
Hello.
Just here to say that GW2 has poor content. It’s so bad I play for 45 minutes per day AT MOST !!
Summary :
- Heart of the Mists (sPvP) I play one match, then afk for 2 more.
- I finish my daily.
- I quickly do a [few] jumping puzzle[s] in WvW for somes badges of honor.
- LogoutAfter that, I go to another game with real content… and I can play much more than 45 min in those games.
Now, I wanna summarize this game’s faults:
PvE : What’s the point? The reward for dungeons is terrible!
SPvP: Eh? After beta testing for a year there’s only one game mode? Really innovative for the 19th century (200 years ago). [TN]
WvW : Zerg or die! Conclusion: When the truth contained? [TN] With real rewards and content that makes it interesting, players will want to persevere. In short, the kind of content makes the game.
With 45 minutes of playtime per day, I have the same stuff as a player who plays 8 hours a day.
[TN]: I think he meant to type 20th century, because he was trying to compare the game to the 1990’s. But it’s funnier keeping it at 19th century, since 114 years ago, this game really would have been innovative (because it would have brought electricity, internet, and computers back in time!)
For the “When the truth contained?” I think he meant something along the lines of “Now for my honest opinion about the content?” but I can’t be sure.
As for my response…?
Hellow.
Just for say, that LoL have so poor contained. That I just play 45 min per day MAX !!
Summary :
- Connection
- Play game → match (I play one match, then ragequit for two others)
I have my FWotD.
- I go quickly in ranked for some elo.
- Logout
And After I go to an other game with real contained, And I can play much more than 45 min in others games.
Now, I wanna make a summary to this game :
Normal : what’s the use of ? The reward on game is so poor…
Ranked: Euh ? Beta test since 3 years. Just one play mode, rly innovative for 19th century.
Bots : Riot, or die !
Conclusion: when the truth contained? With true reward. Contained the kind of interesting that makes you want to persevere. In short, the kind of which contained no game is on.
With 45 min of game per day, I have the same stuff, the same skin, the same advantage than a player who play 8 hours per day.
Also, you might be surprised to learn that 5500 AP is not exactly a “casual” score. You’re still within the 90th percentile of all GW2 players; the vast majority of players actually have AP’s of 2000 or less.
5000+ is not my definition of casual, either. Although I’d like to see a chart or something that shows the 2000 or less statistic.
Here you go.
Will add in borderlines for all percentages below 70% as text in this post in an edit. Too lazy to edit/screenshot it all.
Borderlines for 70% and lower:
Border|AP
60-70%|1450ish
50-60%|1070ish
40-50%|795ish
30-40%|580ish
20-30%|395ish
10-20%|230/231(230 is 10%, 231 is 20%)
0-10%|100ish

It would take 15 days, or, in those 15 days, you can do dailies/monthlies/guild missions and get 1 accessory with the guild commendations and 1 amulet with the laurels.
It’s not challenging or rewarding when you know you are going to get something and that it will only be a matter of time before you get it. The charged quartz is the most ridiculous iteration of time-gated content yet. It’s absolutely terrible it takes 2 months to make a set for one character… but wait! Anet loves to punish players who actually play more than one character. So, if you wanted 2 full celestial sets you are looking at 4 months.
Celestial Armor takes 30 days (assuming you get a quartz every day).
30 days will also, theoretically, get you 40 Laurels (assuming you do a daily every day).
30 days will also, theoretically, get you 12-24 Guild Commendations (assuming you do at least 2 activities a week).
Celestial Weapons take 15 more days (assuming 3 weapons).
15 days will also, theoretically, get you 25 Laurels (assuming you do a daily every day).
15 days will, also, theoretically, get you 6-12 Guild Commendations.
You now have Celestial Armor + Weapons, 65 Laurels, 18-36 Guild Commendations.
You can purchase 2 Ring/Amulet (2 rings + 0 amulet or 1 ring + 1 amulet) via Laurel Merchants or, if you have Badges of Honor, 2 Rings and 1 Amulet. You can also purchase 1-2 accessories via Guild Commendations.
That means that you now have, depending on how much you do (and whether or not you have Badges of Honor), somewhere from 12-15/15 items (unless you require 4 weapons, then add 5 Laurels, which doesn’t affect anything, and potentially 2-4 more Guild Commendations, which also doesn’t affect anything).
So, if you’re a casual player and can get on to do your dailies and, once a week, run with your (or a) guild to do Guild Missions, it only takes 1.5 months to get a full Celestial Set.
Unless, of course, you need 2% more Magic Find instead of 2-3 to all stats, in which case, go ahead, wait the extra 25 days. It’ll only take you 70 days, then. (Note: total of 10% magic find in place of 9 to all stats)
I do my dailies everyday which gives some points but that’s like bringing sand to the desert. ;-)
I have some parts of the game nearly untouched: WvW, PVP and Fractals.
This should give me another 1.000-1.500 points which is still miles away from top.I think it 12.000 still impossible nowadays!?
Are you doing EVERY option of your daily everyday? Both PvP and PvE? Because that’s what top players in achievement points have been doing for more than half a year. Yes they are THAT crazy.
Crazy? Come on.. PvP daily is something you can get after 3 matches.
And the PvE/WvW Stuff isn’t that time consuming either. They are if you only want to play 30 minutes and keep up with players who play 8hours+ a day.
Why would you want to keep up wth 8h/day players? Those are clearly players who are extremely dedicated to the game.
Exactly my (and your) point.
They can get near 100% stealth uptime without speccing specifically for it, but it’s a lot harder and is easier with a wall… or two.
Kudu’s isn’t a Light armor, though. His is medium (as he’s an Engineer) and it has the armguard on the left arm, not the right.
You can’t dodge or use LoS?
OH Sword, in Phantasm builds, kinda relies on having the -20% cooldown reduction. This makes it somewhat necessary to run 10/10/0/25/25 but the 25 in Illusions is also a bit useless for Phantasm. The two traits that it does give you are not very good for Sword Phantasm (one reduces attack downtime on Phantasms for most Phantasms, Swordsman NOT included), the other increases direct damage the Mesmer deals while Illusions are out, but it’s a Phantasm build, so it doesn’t help out that much.
While it’s fun to run OH Sword, it’s not quite as easy to use it full potential since the “diversity” patch.
Don’t run 10/30/0/30/0. If you’re doing Phantasm, run 10/10/0/25/25 or 10/15/0/25/20 for maximum dps (second one for solo, bleed stacks will help out).
If you’re doing shatter, run, for uber dps, 10/30/0/0/30 or 20/20/0/0/30.
Keep in mind, that base direct damage, Mesmers are the weakest in the game. Once you trait, you become really strong (your nuke isn’t quite as fast as thief/warrior, but you can down an enemy ridiculously fast, nonetheless).
Also, keep in mind that non-Shatter Mesmers CANNOT utilize Sigils of Force(or Night / XXX Slaying) because they have little to no direct damage.
Sigils of Accuracy are viable choices on Phantasm (and even Shatter) builds, since they are confirmed to work on Phantasms (and Clones) with a recent change.

Honestly, I don’t care if people do or do not like it. It does cause other players to login which means more players. If someone is not able to login, they actually don’t need ascended.
ALL OF THE ASCENDED TOGETHER account for ~2% of your stats. If that’s going to make or break your build, you’re either a crazy amazing theorycrafter (who probably has Laurels) or you’re making a big deal out of something which you don’t want to wait for.
Actually, the Mistfire is stronger than Hounds of Balthazar (and most other summon Elites). The only downside is that (even with the +100% health buff) it is weak and dies fast.
The only time Hounds will be stronger is with boons since there are two of them. (Fury + Might + Quickness will make them stronger.)
I just did this on my Guardian level 31 who is wearing level 0 gear (yes, level 0 gear).
The Champion was up, as well as the Veteran.
My tactic? I ran through the Champion, into the entrance of the cave. I did not aggro the first mob inside the cave. The Champion dropped aggro, but I had ~3 Centaurs on me. I cleared them.
I cleared the first mob in the cave.
I pulled the 2 centaurs closer to me when looking at the Commune. I killed them.
I proceeded to run in and fight the Veteran + 2 more centaurs. I kept the centaurs alive, but low, by constantly applying blind (traited F1 -> blind, GS3, Sword2) to mitigate as much damage as possible. When I went down (which I did), I rallied fast off of one of the two normal Centaurs. I then killed the other Centaur and focused all my damage (and mitigation) on the Veteran. This included a Knockdown, Weakness, more Blinds and one Block.
Once he died, I communed with the skill point.
EDIT:
If I were to do this again, I would use Renewed Focus instead of Tome of Courage, as the Tome is useless in most PvE solo scenario’s (at least, it’s really hard to use properly). Basically, I ran this without an Elite.
My utilities were:
Bane Signet (Plus Power, Activate: Knockdown)
Signet of Judgment (Less Incoming Damage, Activate: Retaliation + Weakness)
Signet of Mercy (Plus Healing Power, Activate: Revive an ally)

If you have an Ascended Ring, it will have 0 AR. You can apply an Infusion into it, which will make it have +5 AR (equivalent to putting a Rune into your armor). You can also Infuse the Ring itself, giving it inherent +5 AR (equivalent to upgraded your armor). When you Infuse your Ring, you lose any Infusion inside the Ring. After you have Infused your Ring, you may apply an Infusion into the ring again.
Key words:
Infuse = Infusing via Mystic Forge.
Infusion = Applying an Infusion, similar to applying a Rune.
Example:
Bob and Joe both have an Ascended Ring.
Bob puts an Infusion into his Ring, he now has +5 AR.
Joe infuses his Ring, he now has +5 AR.
Later, Bob decides he wants more AR, so he upgrades his Ring via the Mystic Forge (he infuses his Ring, just like Joe did earlier). He loses his Infusion in the process. He still has +5 AR. Bob now has to apply another Infusion into his Ring to get to +10 AR.
Joe, on the other hand, wants to get more AR. Since Joe has already Infused his Ring, he just needs to apply an Infusion. Joe puts an Infusion inside. Joe now has +10 AR.
Infusion = Applying Rune.
Infuse = Upgrading gear.
When you apply a Rune, it goes into your gear.
When you upgrade gear, you throw away your old gear (with the Rune inside of it).
(edited by Esplen.3940)
All I can say is to get a better machine. It only happens when your character loads before everything is rendered (and then you move and the game tries to render ground before finishing models).
With that said, I haven’t upgraded my computer and just try my best to ignore it. It hurts to look at, but I deal with it since I’m most likely about to run into a herd of people at the bank, anyways.
@VictorTroska, that’s a fine system and all, but…
Why implement something that allows players to not get on your game, when you want players to get on your game?
Actually :
Hardcore Salvage guy (Agent of entropy)
Around of 500~~750 of achievmentsAs said multiple times, there is a cap of 200 APs from salvaging.
Actually Agent of entropy is 250 AP max
And before it was capped some people had several thousands of AP from only salvaging.
200 off of Hobby Dungeon Explorer, a lot of people get it confused.
How about we make everything 2.5x slower to accommodate that change? EVERYTHING 2.5x slower. (Except Revealed, of course, since it’s now 10s.)
It’s getting fixed on Tuesday, but for now, you can drag your minimap to the top right of your screen and the leave instance button will not get covered.
The guild bank has a naming feature so other people in your guild know.
Your personal bank doesn’t have a naming feature because it’s your bank for you and yourself.
