Yep another freebie under promotions tab. My guess it was announce on twitter or facebook, but oddly absent from here.
Personally I think a CDI on the BLT would be good to do at some point.
Chris
Sounds nice, but there are a lot more important things that need to be discussed, that effect the core (conditions, class mechanic, mob AI,….) that shuold be adressed before BLT.
The player unl34shed made a list on top of this side.
From a PvE perspective the BLTC is at the core of why rewards in this game are mediocre at best. While I agree some other things are important as well, I hardly consider the effect the BLTC has a second rate concern.
Char slot sales. It’ll go bck to 7ish as long as they don’t introduce another promotion b4 it does. Not saying 7 isn’t off but just saying what it is.
Someone made a decision that wasn’t thought out. Obviously when a t2 mat costs>2x the corresponding t6 and the t4 costs >5.5x as much as the t6 something is amiss. Will we ever hear anything about it? Probably not, it’s very hard for ppl to admit mistakes and we will most times do anything to avoid doing so even it it effects other ppl.
We won’t get any feedback on anything they don’t want to talk about, namely the shortfalls. If you have noticed the trend of the only responses in most player concern threads are moderation only. It’s one of the main reason communication is still severely lacking between the players and the devs. Unfortunately I don’t see it changing any time soon at least not with this company. So in essence I wouldn’t hold your breathe.
Was just wondering what determines our wvw colors? At first I thought it was place in the matches, but after remaining in a place yet changing colors I am not sure. I am curious about this due to the eotm pairings.
Other games have no bearing on whether or not this one is or is not something. Saying it is not grindy compared to a highly grindy game is fine but that has no relevance to whether or not it is grindy of itself. The comparison is simply that a comparison not a true measure. It falls into the lines of inconsistent comparison.
ex) Michael Jordan (6’6")was not that tall compared to Manute Bol (7’7"), therefor MJ is not tall.
We full well know that both are tall (well above avg 5’9"), so the comparison is not a true measure of height, just a comparison.
Regular WvW maps are resetting sending players back to spawn location randomly.
You mean an actual chance to get something via playing? Not a chance…must’ve been a typo.
Not much for my tastes, but perfect for the 14yr old gals or those that want to be 14yr old gals out there.
K in that case all slayers but giants done, 9 of the weapon masters done, 20k wvw kills,World bosses done daily cept teq and new wurm… I can go on and on.
I’ll add my woes to this:
5,560 hrs
2.2k g into forge
0 pre drops or forges
2 pre bought from tp
Being an outlier stinks and since time does not seem to be moving things in the direction of the middle I have to assume something is wonky.
I guess you missed the “behind the scenes” matched with “transparency” bit. Either that or you don’t find paradoxical statements amusing.
I thought this bit was rather amusing:
We’ve been doing some behind-the-scenes work on our systems to provide more transparency with the queue and to fix some of the frustrations players have had with it.
Indicator of knowledge of the game? It’s the best we have.
Absolutely not.
Care to elaborate why not and or what may be better?
Indicator of skill?..No…Indicator of knowledge of the game? It’s the best we have. Basically it’s the same as a test in school. Is it a great measure?….No… Is it the best we have on a generalized basis? Yes..Abeit by 2k players have a general grasp of the game.
4) Timing is synced with Teq and thus we have a choice. Atm Teq is the better choice given 1-3
1) Yes. Points should be kept short and to the point.
2) I’m not sure here as if by votes we might end up with flying mounts and if via Anet the community might feel ignored. Maybe a balance of the two?
Not gonna read whole thread, but will give my point of view. Having 2 80 rangers, I have played them a fair bit. Also having every other profession I can compare and contrast them. That said, imo, the ranger suffers from 3 major drawbacks, 2 of which concern pets.
1) Pet ai. This will draw aggro to unwanted places. If the player is not able or willing to control his or her pet with the limited options, then the ranger is more of a liability as a class. The inability to store pets while in combat is part of this issue.
2) Split dps with pet. Rangers that control pets effectively still have to deal with split dps. As most controlled pets are passive their dps lacks while reducing the negative aspects of pet ai. If dps were to be increased while pets were passive or stored and/or pets were able to be stored while in combat…this would be a non issue.
3) Attack animations. I’m looking at you sword auto attack chain. Well this has been acknowledged and hopefully we will see some resolve which’ll increase ranger viability.
I’m betting they are taken aback by the response. But it, infinite tools, did transition from a mere convenience item to an item that can generate extra income.
At least the sprocket market already pulled back over 50% since the giant clockwork event started.
I cannot believe that they are taken back by the response. It doesn’t take a psychic to have know what would happen. If they truly are taken back, well then the company needs to hire an adviser in HR that can advise them on basic human psychology.
That aside I am of the train of thought that they are simply waiting for the storm to pass and the community tires of being ignored while issuing concerns. Once it blows over we may or may not get a response which will acknowledge it, but address nothing. Then future iteration will inch further and further along repeating the same behavior until we are long past where we began. Like easing into hot bath, we will get fully submerged it’s just a matter of taking it slow, a little at a time. Then it really won’t seem that bad. Being of this train of thought I believe they do have a competent marketing team and just acknowledge the reaction as a means to an end.
Holy kitten kitten. Vol and Lordkrall have gone against Anet on something. H-e-double hockey sticks have frozen over and the sky is falling.
If that’s not a sign of something being wrong idk what is…..lol.
That’s a lot of map completions…
Or a moderate amount of playing the trading post. I’m leaning more towards the latter.
I don’t know if its a bad precedent, it depends if they allow for refund for the old items or not.
Why would they though?
If I buy the same car next year that you bought today I might very well get something extra with said car.
That said, I do wonder why they suddenly decided to add this, especially since it says nothing about it in the description, which makes me wonder if it is a bug.
Wouldn’t you feel cheated if your 3 month old phone (spanking new state of the art model too) got replaced with an improved model for the SAME price ?
lol Evidently you are not familiar with one of the white knights of the round table.
That aside my thoughts on this is moreso towards it moving away from a strictly “convenience” item and more towards paying for advantages.
Then it would be all about gold again. That imo is the wrong direction. We should be rewarding play more not just pushing players towards trading. A BIG NO for that one imo.
Unfortunately that system takes a lot of the reward feeling out of it’s reward by doing so. Since rewards are an integral facet of this genre of game it really does garner taking a deeper look at.
I am one of those who thinks the opposite. I believe we need more rewards based on adventuring and less based on trading, karma does that. I would hope that if they do release new legendaries they will be based on playing content and not so much buying and selling. Then they might gain back some prestige that they have lost long ago.
They want you to buy them from someone that used the tp to stockpile them. Remember it’s a trading game in disguise not an adventure game.
We’ve seen multiple reports of this scaling issue on the Wurm’s, and we’re actively investigating the cause. Please continue to post any details or repro steps you can think of. Links to videos with timestamps are also appreciated.
I know this thread is about the scaling of the worm encounter, but scaling in general could use being looked at. Many encounters do not scale well or at all. Idk if it is a universal system that gets bugged or if it is encounter dependent issue. Either way the game could be bettered by taking a look at scaling in general.
We can compare how our economy effects players who are just starting vs how it effected us when we started.
Hi Essence, Can you compare the differences in the economy for me? Also, do you see definitive milestones within the economy’s changes that would also effect players starting at different points over the past year and a half-ish? Or has it been incremental over time? I’m very curious to see it from your perspective.
I could, but unfortunately I know your stance already, and thus what I perceive as your objective would be a waste of my time. ie…..“do not feed the….well you get the just of it”.
As for the second bit. Incremental mainly with a bit of steps coinciding with releases. Each release offers those with (not new players) a significant increased chance at gain. This is proportionate to wealth disparity…..eg……the more one has the more they can gain and the less one has the less they can gain. Since this only grows in time newer players in relation to established players have less and less of percentage in comparison.
I’ve been posting about this very thing since day 1. Unfortunately it has fallen upon deaf ears.
I have nothing confused. I am well aware of the effects of our economy on this GAME. That’s the main kicker here. This is a game not a real life economy. The game is the number one priority, not the economy…some forget that or choose not to consider it.
If the economy of the game fails, then the game will quickly follow. I’d posit that in a game like this where there is no (or should I say very limited) power creep as a result of the lack of vertical progress, the economy becomes the most important part of keeping the game alive because the economy allows ALL players to participate in the horizontal progression.
It doesn’t have to fail if it isn’t purely based on numbers. It is not an all or nothing aspect, 0 or 1, black or white, there is the ability for levels of grey.
I’d would also debate that verticle progression is the most important aspect of a mmo livelyhood followed by it’s economy.
We can compare how our economy effets players who are just starting vs how it effected us when we started. There is a prominent difference and it will only gain traction, effectively leaving some in the dust….aka moving away from ALL.

Unfortunately we cannot really go out and actually get things we want directly in this game. I know…..right…..So you will need to amass gold instead…..it’s rather sad imo.
Yeah and those people who sell them on the TP magically found them in their bag everyday they log in.
There is a difference between randomly and directly. The likelyhood of directly farming a lodestone is such that it is not advisable. That said one can get cores from SE, but again we’d still need gold to promote and the rate of which they are acquired leaves much to be desired. So again gathering gold is still the best option.
So to direct this to your post…most of those on the TP were randomly found not directly farmed.
I am pretty sure ‘economist’ is just another name for “someone who gazes into crystal balls and tries to dazzle the public with charts and graphs based on cooked up numbers and assumptions pulled out of their a*se’.
I’ll take the ancient Roman soothsayers poking around in chicken entrails any day over an economist. If they got it wrong, it was usually their last mistake …
In that case, you’d be quite wrong. Economics is a very old field of study. Sure, there’s the theory component, which, just like other sciences is focused on the exploration of the unknown and is thus subject to constant reevaluation, but there are also hard facts that have been laid out. It is not the job of the economist to market the idea of the economy to jealous, whiny players, it is the job of the economist to ensure that the economy is running smoothly for ALL players.
Economies (like the one we have in this game) by their very nature do not run smooth for ALL. They actually move further and further from that the longer they exists.
I know 100% we can get named exotics from champ bags at lower levels. I got several while leveling my 2nd guardian doing the champ train. That said I have also heard that we can get precursors from champ bags. I have not had one drop for myself so I cannot say 100% this is accurate. Anywho going by those two assumptions I am going to go out on a limb and say there is in fact a chance albeit a very, very, verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrryyyyyyyyyyyyy slim one that yes you can get one at lower levels via champ bags.
Is it just me or is the Wurm event at the very same time as Teq?
Unfortunately we cannot really go out and actually get things we want directly in this game. I know…..right…..So you will need to amass gold instead…..it’s rather sad imo.
Even if you could make heavier characters they’d simply loose all that weight from running everywhere and fighting all the time. Unless ofc you do nothing but stand in LA playing the TP, which tbh is the mental picture I have of them anyhow.
lol…..Ya’ll are arguing the 99% and not the concept? Never cease to amaze….
While a certain poster may take things a bit extreme imo, the overall message (ya’ll seem to ignore to focus on semantics repeatedly) is there (again a bit extreme for my tastes). The bandwagoning by those invested in relevant activities is obvious to the point where their bias is may be taken for sound basis of questioning their validity on such a matter.
If you’re going to argue the point argue the concept of controlling markets…not whether the 99% number is real. Arguing the 99% makes it seem that you cannot argue the point at hand and as such need to resort to focusing on something inconsequential.
Mask of the Silent
The fact that most of these items ever existed is just blatantly a bug.
-Bill
Was this wording a bug?….Definitely gonna have to call you out on this as it is 100% an impossibility that the coding required for these to exist was a bug.
Simply put that statement is a lie or at the very least extreme poor word choice.

In wvw the update ui is very distracting. I wish there was a way to revert it back.
So when is this achievement going to degenerate into player harassment? My bet is 2-3 days.
Besides the karma booster and name change contract, the ones removed were useless. But, yeah essences of luck are less than mediocre.
semantics……you know full well the point
Important distinction.
You can argue that you NEED food to live. You cannot argue that you NEED filet mignon and lobster every day to live.
When you conflate need with want, you reach the conclusion that the Trading Post makes thing too expensive. When you correctly identify needs and wants you realize that the Trading Post is your best friend.
This is a perfect reply……
The point being that nothing is required in this game. Thus justification using “required” as a basis is moot in this case. The only thing required is character creation so anything past that is optional.
Correct. Nothing is required in this game. Also, playing the TP is not required to enjoy the game or get anything in game.
So nothing is required to play required aspects of this game. That is sorta neither here nor there. Optional aspects however are rather relevant since they are pertinent to most everything in the game. Hence the debate at hand.

It’s not that it’s hard, it’s that the number needed was excessively high, so much so that it was impossible to collect without buying off the tp. Other items are moreso about low drop rates and rng behind them coupled with. For some items it doesn’t matter how much one tries to obtain them they may not ever due to rng.
Remember candy corn 20 slot pails…impossible (realistically) to gather enough candy corn for it. 300 charged lodestones…how many years will this game last? GL gathering 300 silk per day everyday to not miss out on time gates……etc etc
It’s not hard to find places where the tp is needed. All one needs to do is look.
