They can basically scepter number 1 any class and build to death. Completely overpowered if used properly. By properly I mean basic understanding of the class because the build carries the player. I’m mostly into dueling and have taken part in and watched many duels. There’s a specific guardian build that is completely unbeatable.

No such thing as a unbeatable guardian build unless you mean a bunker spec with no offensive pressure whatsoever. Also Scepter isn’t that good beyond melee medium range. The projectiles are unreliable and easily avoided, and if you’ve got melee in your face you’re kind of a sitting duck. General stun lock and condition overload from a decent engineer or condition build will be able to kill you.

Trust me. 99% unbeatable and it’s not bunker. It’s a mix of zerker, knights, cav etc. With the build you don’t even have to be that good of a guardian. We’ve only seen the build lose to my guild member who runs a necro and got off a good combo with some corrupt boons and fear.

My other guild member ran the guardian build and it’s completely hilarious how it dominates everything in duels. He think it’s completely boring to play now because it’s pretty much a guaranteed win.

People complain about warriors being OP for instance but they have never fought a guardian apparently. Massive damage with huge sustain due to many blocks, invuln, blinds, protection, regen. It’s absurd. Fighting warriors on the build is a joke, actually.

If a thief tries to backstab me and I use an actual smart tactic and BLOCK their backstab then they should be revealed.

Why can a thief spam a super hard hitting ability like backstab on my warrior who is using shield block until it eventually lands? That requires zero skill on the thief’s part. Just spam until it lands and they have 4 seconds in stealth to spam it.

If this is implemented in other parts of the game:

Please please you MUST limit the ability to switching templates in WvW to your spawn area.

Imagine you’re running around capping camps for your team and you come across a thief. The thief engages you, notices his build cannot kill yours so he shadow steps away, goes invis, and exits combat almost instantly. Now while in stealth he hits one button and his entire build has been changed to counter yours and he attacks you and destroys you.

This issue would be even worse in smaller group fights as the thief can disengage even easier and you’re stuck in combat with other enemies while he’s switching builds in stealth.

Thieves will have a huge advantage. You need to to limit template switching to your main base. Why the main base you ask? Imagine this scenario:

You’re roaming around with your normal build and you spot a necro. Pop open your menu as you walk up to him and click on “Necro Counter-build.” How lame is that? That’s pretty lame.

I think it’s funny that people complain about warriors being “OP” when a guardian can have higher DPS and more sustain.

A warrior can not beat a DPS oriented guardian in a duel no matter what build he uses. The blocks, blinds, damage, and sustain they have is absurd. They can basically scepter number 1 you to death if they wanted.

I don’t ever want to be pestered about dueling. Ever.

Why would anyone pester you about dueling? If someone really wanted to pester you about dueling they would do it currently anyways since the closest thing to dueling would be to join an empty PvP arena. This whole “I don’t want to be pestered” thing is a horrible excuse people against dueling keep spouting.

Those of us who like to improve our skills in the game would love to duel our friends using our PvE/WvW builds (PvP amulet builds are boring).

Basically, you flag yourself as able to be dueled and other people that want to duel can request you.

I thought that was a cool idea. Not so different then a auto-decline, except it only really puts you on the spot if you want to duel, not the other way around.

This sounds like a perfect solution. I also wouldn’t mind if dueling was kept to only outside the city. Or even some random corner of a random PvE map.

Any PvErs against dueling with the above limitations are just being silly.

harrasments, trolls, the fact that PvP doesn’t belong in PvE in both PvE-er’s wishes and lore.
also, that you think PvP arenas are boring doesn’t mean we PvE-ers have to deal with the PvP crowd ruining PvE, you have your place so use it or stop complaining.

So, PvP players somehow ruin PvE? What should I be saying about PvE players like you who come into WvW for their achievements and map completion? I have nothing against you guys.

Maybe you wouldn’t be so afraid of dueling if you could duel your buddies and become good at PvP. Just think of it like that.

Stop taking the game so seriously. It’s fine if you die to another player.

There are other warrior skills that suffer from this random “lag.” It’s always the skills I listed in the above thread. Every other skill is perfectly fine.

Hammer F1, Greatsword 3, Longbow F1 and 3. In fact it makes using Greatsword 3 as an evade close to impossible most of the time.

I’ve been using the ele since the betas and after seeing this exploit being used more and more I think it’s time to push to have it fixed. I honestly felt cheesy using it long ago when I first tried to see if it works and I refuse to use it because of how strong it is.

I’m talking about the burning speed + lightning flash exploit.

The devs fixed the fiery greatsword + lightning flash exploit but they didn’t fix this one. The greatsword was doing a massive amount of unintended damage. Well, you can do the exact same thing with burning speed. Just cast burning speed and then blink onto your target. You’ll deal massive damage to your target especially if they don’t IMMEDIATELY dodge or leave the target area. It makes it so tankier eles (especially when running fury on attunement swap, can cause huge damage.

It’s obviously unintended and should be fixed just like the fiery greatsword exploit was.

-When you’ve got the “fast hands” trait, your weapon swap goes on cool down when you entire or exit water combat. It also happens when dropping banners and other pick up weapons.

-A few warrior skills experience a casting delay that no other abilities experience. Hammer F1, GS Whirlwind and Rush, and Longbow 3 arcing shot. If you notice you sometimes find yourself spamming those because they just aren’t casting. See my thread here about this:

It’s pretty sad how effective 5>2>1 is. You can be a horrible player and do pretty kitten decent when ONLY doing this combo. You can literally do nothing else except the combo above and kill most classes.

1) You should not be able to rezz a completely dead player while in combat. I hate killing a much larger group with my 5 man team only to have 2 thieves sitting in the back rezzing the completely dead. It’s lame.

2) You should not rally because you threw a single stone at a random nearby mob that died. That’s stupid. Countless times have I fought 2-3 people at once and downed them all only to have a stupid deer walk into the fight and die which then rallies them all. What type of horrendous game mechanic is that? Keep that stuff in PvE and out of WvW.

Full Berserker Warriors are dominating (and ruining) PVE at the moment. I’m sorry it feels bad to be nerfed (us Thieves were nerfed too), but it’s good for the health of the game.

Yeah and we wish the changes stayed in PvE. Now condition tanky builds are even more powerful in WvW. It’s lame.

I understand having high melee damage (it’s a Warrior, duh), but ranged is just a huge no.

Any hard hitting abilities from “range” that a warrior has is highly telegraphed. Why did you stand in the big red circle showing you where the slow moving arcing shot projectile was going to land?

Seems like an L2P issue. People cry about warriors but obviously haven’t played as a warrior against equally skilled mesmers, necros, DPS and condition thieves, condition engineers, and DPS meditation guardians. There’s no warrior build that can beat those in a duel against equally skilled opponents.

Anyways, the cry babies got what they wanted and the warrior is getting a few things nerfed that didn’t need nerfing in this upcoming patch.

Bug - Longbow - Obstructed / Out of Range

This happens to me ALL THE TIME. I get an obstructed or out of range message when the person is obviously out in the open or well within range. Last night I traited for 1200 range and I attacked someone at around 800 range just standing there and I get an out of range message. So annoying because obviously it always happens with my pindown.

Decent setup but your burst is borderline exploit and not working as intended. It’s obvious Anet didn’t intend for lightning flash to work the way it does with certain abilities (burning speed and fiery GS rush). Horrendous coding on their part. If I’m not mistaken they are fixing the fiery GS rush exploit so they should definitely fix burning speed.

Alright, this is something that has been bothering me for a very long time. There are some warrior abilities which sometimes have a delay due to network lag (my guess) and it’s incredible annoying. I’m talking about an issue that happens even when there are no zergs on the map having a huge fight. My connection is solid as well.

Sword leap is instant, hammer 4, 5, 2, 1, are all instant. Greatsword 1, 2, and 4 are instant. A bunch of utilities also begin their cast instantly. I haven’t seen this issue with any other class either. Everything just begins it’s cast instantly.

Now, when you try doing hammer’s F1, GS Rush or whirlwind or any longbow attack, it seems like randomly the cast doesn’t begin for half a second most of the time. I sometimes find myself spamming my hammer F1 because it’s just not casting. It’s sometimes impossible to use GS 3 as a well timed evade because of the delay.

Anyone else notice this too? My buddies and I complain about this all the time.

You will lose 100% of the 1v1s to any good player using the following professions:

Condition engineer
Mesmer (any build except PU)
Thief (any build)
Guardian (DPS oriented meditation build with ANY weapon they want)
Condition Necros

It’s funny when people scream warriors are OP but warriors cannot beat any of the above if both players are of equal skill. Guardians are so absurd when specced right. They can do massive damage and have a lot of blocks, blinds, and heals.

I really have no clue why this hasn’t been added yet. The terrible arguments against it are “I’m afraid of PVP and I don’t want people sending me duel requests” and also “game isn’t balanced around 1v1s so dueling shouldn’t be put in.”

Both of these are lame. Just include an option for those who are afraid of it to ignore all requests. The latter argument is stupid too because a huge amount of the posts in the profession forums are about beating other classes in a fight. If we could duel our friends it would be so much easier to learn how to deal with various builds and professions. Dueling happens anyways (either in PVP or WvW) so there’s no reason why a QOL change can’t be done to make this easier.

Oh, one more argument against it is “I’m a PVEr and I would hate to see people fighting in Lion’s Arch!” but it’s funny because these PVE players are the first to use their Halloween tonic and fill LA completely with costume brawlers.

You shouldn’t rally AT ALL from killing anything.

You also shouldn’t be able to res a completely dead player while in combat. I HATE it how my 5 man group starts destroying a 12 man group, only to have a few players almost instantly res a dead player. It’s dumb and supports zerging a bit too much.

Honestly, since there’s so many terrible PvErs who are afraid of this dueling option being added into the game, I think that only adding this feature to the OS arena area would be the best bet. This way it’s in a PvP area and away from their precious PvE and they won’t feel “threatened” by people dueling each other.

I should be able to right click and invite my friend (on the same server) to a duel. It’s pretty simple and should have been in the game from launch.

Discussion: Downed/dead state and zerging

What if you couldn’t hard rez downed allies? What are the positives and negatives?

This is what needs to change in WvW. It punishes smaller more skilled groups when the larger zerg can just have a few players IGNORE the fight and hard res completely dead players. They should not be able to rez the dead while in combat. It’s a simple change that promotes more skillful play and not “just throw more players at them until they win.”

There are absolutely no negatives to changing this in WvW.

What also needs to change is the rallying off of mobs. For instance, I down 3 players in a fight and a stupid wolf gets pulled in and dies causing all downed players to rally then proceed to kill me because they rally with half their health back and all conditions cleared. That’s terrible and has no place in PvP.

P.S. Elementalists should not be able to mist form into keep doors.

These might be considered bugs but there’s one or two that need fixing because

Warrior

-Can you please make it so that mace main hand’s counter blow blocks all projectiles when NOT using “missile reflection” trait. Right now without that trait it will only block 1 projectile. Sword offhand blocks all projectiles with or without this trait (this was fixed a few patches ago. It had the same issue as mace main hand).

-When a warrior has “fast hands” selected as a trait there’s an issue with your weapon swap going into cool down when you enter water when in combat. This doesn’t happen with any other class. When I enter water and I need my spear, I cannot swap for 5 seconds every single time. Puts the warrior at a disadvantage big time because he cannot swap weapons when needed.

-Longbow Burst (Combustive shot) took a big nerf a few patches ago. The radius of the field is too small even if your adrenaline is at 99.9% The radius should be max as long as you reach the third bar of adrenaline. It sucks to use combustive shot only to find out that your bar was at 99.9%.

Thief

-I feel cheesy on my thief using the trait “blind foes when using a skill that stealths you.” When I’m on my warrior I notice how powerful this blind is. Even with melandru runes and condition reductions foods the blind lasts too long. The thief can basically perma blind you. This trait needs a cool down or needs the blind duration to be cut in half.

A thief can spam cloak and dagger on you and blind you constantly. You have no way of stopping the next cloak and dagger with a stun for instance, because you’re blinded. Swinging at the air no longer clears blinds. There is no counter play to being blinded constantly like this and it’s really bad game design. Please fix this!

It’s very simple.

1) Those who are afraid of dueling can enable an option which ignores any duel requests.

2)Dueling can take place anywhere. Why would this be a problem? I see no PvErs complaining when Lions Arch is COMPLETELY FILLED with people costume brawling.

3)People who use the excuse of “this game isn’t balanced around 1v1s so dueling will make people complain” obviously haven’t been to the profession forums. All you see are people complaining about how one class is OP against their class. It already happens. This isn’t an excuse.

Dueling is something that many games have. It’s something that you can do to pass the time while waiting for buddies to show up for a dungeon. It’s something that will help you become a better player and learn how to deal with other classes in a fight. If you take the game seriously enough that losing a duel would cause you mental anguish, you need to go outside and take a breather. It’s just a game.

How to prove to yourself warriors are not OP

Wanna see how warriors are NOT OP? Fight a skilled necro, engineer, thief, or mesmer. They will destroy you. If they pop doom sigils on their weapons a warrior will be destroyed even harder.

People need to L2P. Warriors are EASY MODE on my engineer.

Were you stomping him? There is a glitch with stomping a downed player. You start the stomping animation with stability on and they hit you with their interrupt causing your character to be “knocked down” but if you don’t move your controls, the stomping still happens. This happens every single time I try stomping someone when I have stability.

If it wasn’t during a stomp it might still be the same bug. I have been “knocked down” with stability while doing hundred blades and my character is on the ground but invisible damage is being done to the people around me by my invisible hundred blades. Happens with other professions as well.

[PHZE] Warrior with cobalt is using a speed cheat. Just a heads up to the leaders of that guild. He just starts teleporting across the map super rapidly when in trouble.

In WvW there is almost no reason not to log the moment you are downed to prevent a stomp. None.

Bwahahaha. My guildies and I get a good chuckle out of people who do this because we know we angered them enough for them to AltF4 out of their entire game. We prefer you do this because we don’t need to spend time spiking you and we still get credit and a loot bag from you. Saves a lot of time.

It just makes you look like a terrible player who is very upset about dying in a game.

The only decent guilds on that server were [FKVA] and [NA], the rest of you are as good as ogre or dredge mercenaries.

It’s actually just TKVA again. The F was changed back to a T when the FEAR guild (Lychon and company) we merged with (good buddies still) kinda stopped playing the game.

[vT] is really one of the most skilled of players you can come across and we had fun roaming around together when they were on CD. Miss you guys! The only neat thing about you guys leaving is we sometimes have a chance to fight each other.

But I would bet getting stomped adds a whole nother group that is discouraged to fight. And what we all want is more fighting right?

People who have an actual FEAR of dying in a video game just because they “got spiked” are 100% terrible players. I have no interest in fighting them since they will pose no challenge.

How do I check if I have something on autocast while in a specific kit?

In this image you can see the number 1 attack skill is set to auto cast because of the yellowish arrows surrounding the ability:

To turn off autoattack (which everyone should do to be honest) just CTRL-Click on the ability. Any ability can be set to auto attack….even an elite. It just uses the ability as soon as it’s off cool down. You can only have ONE ability set to auto attack.

For the engineer, you can set this differently for every kit that you’re on. Mine somehow was set for my elite to auto attack while underwater in grenade kit but with no other kit. I was confused as to why my elite was dropping when I entered water combat….heh.

Check to see if you have something on autocast while on a specific kit. I somehow had my supply crate set to auto cast only while in grenade kit and whenever I would entire water and swap to that kit it would drop supply crate instantly. Took me a bit to figure out what the hell was going on.

I really hate posting about this garbage trash talk, but you blocked me after joining my party to get my name and you say this.

I came after you because you jumped on me after 5v2 my friend and I, apparently you got angry after several deaths since you whispered me with this bad manner.

After you blocked me I asked my friend to whisper you for a 1v1, and you’ve denied. I beat you 1v2 with that mesmer and you keep talking, I don’t understand.

HAHAHAH! That guy is a joke. His group would fight my guidies in an even group fight and would they would lose every time. He finally got upset and spammed joined our party until he found out my name. He started trash talking me while extremely upset about losing the fights and saying that “I’m garbage without my teammates.”

I duel him in a warrior on warrior 1v1 and destroy him. Such an easy fight. He then becomes more upset so I had to block him. He would not stop PMing me. I’ve killed him countless times over the past few weeks while he tries his very hardest to target me. I almost feel bad for him.

I honestly think the guy has issues.

I agree. The largest AOE circle should be put down when your adrenaline reaches the third bar and not just when it’s 100% full. I’ts pretty dumb to use the burst only to find out that your adrenaline was at 99.9% and you only get the tiny useless AOE circle.

People are still complaining about warrior’s rifle? I’m guessing it’s those that just installed the game.

It’s the worst weapon in the game. Useless in melee and has the most obvious attacks ever. I love coming across these warriors because they are free kills.

Remove ability to res finished players.

You shouldn’t be able to rezz completely dead players while in combat. It’s that simple. This lame mechanic helps the horrendously bad larger group win the fight. It’s annoying and caters to bad players.

If you’re so outnumbered or being beaten so bad that they are ressing fully dead players you had no chance anyway.

Nope. My 5 man team has been up against 15 players and while we focus on downing people repeatedly, you’ve got 3 tanky people in the back constantly rezzing the dead. Three revive one person and now there’s four people reviving people and it just goes from there. The fight would EASILY be ours if it wasn’t for this stupid mechanic.

Here’s the ping results. 6% packet loss is completely unplayable. Skill delay is rather annoying.
