The Dialogue box when you double click the skin CLEARLY states that you can withdraw the skin infinite times across all your characters from the achievements panel.
^— Technically it was. There is a dialogue box when you double click the skin that clearly states you can attain more from the achievement panel at no extra cost.
I found it interesting while reading the GW wiki page, on Mursaat, how so many things had referred back to the Jade fractal such as the (at-the-time) new condition, Agony (so much like the Mursaat’s ultimate skill, Spectral Agony), ascended items, basically referring to the Mursaat – Infusing, like in GW1 to be used against spectral agony – And lastly, the Jade contructs they built. All within one update..
There is no connection.
The Jade Constructs were Purple/Red like all other Mursaat constructs. They didn’t have anything to do with the Jade Sea, which was a product of the Jade Wind, other than both using the word ‘Jade’.
Agony is a mechanic and the condition is inflicted by all bosses in high level Fractals – other than it’s name and function there is nothing to suggest that lore-wise it is the same as the Mursaat’s Spectral Agony ability. Agony is extreme physical (or mental) suffering, Spectral Agony is sort of implied to be something worse. (In GW1 there was a Ritualist skill called Agony which of course also had nothing to do with the Mursaat, it’s just an noun :P
Ascended gear also doesn’t refer to the Mursaat at all. Ascension in GW1 was to do with attaining the blessing of the Gods, in GW2 it is just a word used to communicate an increased defensive property of the gear. Infusion was also specific to Spectral Agony, there is nothing to indicate that Agony Resistance in GW2 would protect us from Spectral Agony (of course there is also nothing to indicate that it wouldn’t either, but that isn’t the point).
if the dragons were the only reason we aren’t moving to other continents, we’d be heading to cantha already. beyond kralk there’s the desolation, and beyond that you have an undead overlord enslaving a whole continent, and i sure hope ANet has better common sense than to throw us at another undead threat so soon. people are still hating the risen.
anyway, i do think kralk might be next, but for different reasons than yours. i also hope he’s next, because he’s the one i’m looking forward to the most. either him or jormag, though it seems that we’re at an advantage if we strike kralkatorrik before he fully recovers (granted, it’s been 6+ years since he last fought anything).
for whatever reason, i just don’t see primordus being second in line.
You obviously didn’t play GW1 then… Prophecies: Orrian Undead!, Factions: Afflicted! (They rose from corpses and were ugly so close enough) Nightfall: Palawa Joko’s Undead!
On a more serious note: Primordius and Jormag woke before Kralk, so wouldn’t it make more sense to go after them before they get stronger? (I don’t necessarily think that, it’s just a response to your Kralk recovering comment).

They are intelligent beings and their actions definitely aren’t for anything that could be considered ‘good’. On awakening the first thing Kralk did was go and kill Glint pretty much because she was no longer under his control. ‘Good’ and ‘evil’ are socially defined, they aren’t concrete things, so Lutinz is right in saying that it isn’t so much about them being evil but rather them being our enemy.
The dialogue of Lyssa’s Muse from the Gate of Madness mission in GW1 pretty much sums it up:
Lyssa’s Muse: “There was a time when the gods walked the earth. Every thought and achievement was a gift of the gods.”
Lyssa’s Muse: “But now you must realize that our gifts are within you. Dwayna lives in your compassion, Balthazar in your strength.”
Lyssa’s Muse: “Melandru dwells in your harmony, Grenth in your justice.”
Lyssa’s Muse: “And in your inspiration, Lyssa is there.”
Lyssa’s Muse: “The divinity is within you. And so, we give you our blessing. That should suffice for the task ahead.”
Lyssa’s Muse: “And to you, Kormir, a most special gift.”
Lyssa’s Muse: “This is your world, now. This is your decision. You must make the choice that only a mortal could make.”
If the God’s were to solve people’s problems then nobody would try and fix anything. You also have to take into consideration that they are only the Human Gods, the other races probably wouldn’t look kindly upon having Gods that are not their own solving their problems – the Charr especially.
There’s also nothing to indicate that the Gods are more powerful than the Dragons. The Dragons could pose more of a threat to the Gods than to us? The Dragons could be more powerful than the Gods, etc.
Even calling them Gods can be somewhat of an issue. They’re certainly powerful beings, but there is a lot that suggests that Tyria and a lot of its inhabitants existed before their arrival on Tyria – so you have to question exactly how important they are to anyone other than the Humans. (Although I’m certainly not saying they aren’t powerful or important – just playing Devil’s Advocate and showing another side to the issue.)
Just a side tip… There is nothing stopping you from watching the cutscenes. I’ve never encountered anyone who had a problem waiting an extra 30 seconds while someone watched and it’s not like there is anything they could do about it anyway. They could kick you from the group, but most people would be happier waiting a minute for someone to watch a cut scene than spending 10-20 minutes trying to find someone to replace you…
The Dialogue from the cutscenes is also available on the Wiki.
It’s almost a certainty I would think.
If they don’t then it’s a missed opportunity.
As Healix pointed out it is not a PvP title. Whilst Faction points could be earned through the PvP Alliance battles and competitive missions they could also be accumulated through PvE with the vanquishing of areas, completion of quests, missions and bounties – therefore it is considered a PvE title.
Maguuma Wastes, pretty much all of Elona etc..
You also have to take into consideration that PvP occurs within the Mists. The locations do tend to be fragments of the past, present or future (e.g. Raid on Capricorn which is a place from the Sea of Sorrows book) – but they aren’t factual representations. We see the Jade Sea in the Fractals of the Mists dungeon – yet at this point in time the Jade Sea is theoretically a Sea once again and therefore it’s presence doesn’t indicate that we will get to see the Jade Sea in it’s old state at any point in GW2. The mists is the mists…
^— What he said. Its a desert map, that doesn’t mean it is the Crystal Desert at all… Even on Reddit the poster conceded that he only wrote ‘Crystal Desert’ because it’s what seemed likely to him – but it isn’t likely, that stuff is there because it is meant to be there and the Crystal Desert is not the only sandy place in the GW world…
Can you post a link to the actual reddit page?
Map glitching is never a confirmation of anything and those screenshots don’t really show anything conclusive :/
I want to know the average amount of times players died on the map xD, it would be interesting to get a ball park indication of how dreadful we all are :P
You can get the new Celestial recipes which allows you to craft the celestial armour. It is an armour attribute, so if you were a Tailor for example you would want the Celestial Intricate Gossamer Insignia: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Celestial_Intricate_Gossamer_Insignia
That would then allow you to craft Celestial gear using the Insignia and combining it with the typical components (as in the two pieces you craft and combine with an insignia normally). Alternatively you should be able to buy it on the Trading post.
I’m unsure if the armour uses a unique skin or if it just uses the same skins as the last tier of craftable armours (I would imagine it does that since if it were a new skin it would be a bigger deal).
You should have just been able to double click the GW2 installer app or drag it to your desktop and double click it from there to run the installer.
DMG’s always work the same, they open up a small folder, like what you see there, with a file inside and either you drag that file to your applications folder or you open it if it’s an installer.
“Scribe’s Note: The following journal page was retrieved, undoubtedly without permission, from the Zephyr Sanctum, and in 1326 it came into the hands of the Durmand Priory. The author remains unidentified, and the veracity and authenticity of this account has not been verified. Believe at your own risk.”
That is written at the very top of the page. It is entirely possible that it is meant to introduce us to the fact that something isn’t quite right about the Zephyrites and they aren’t being truthful about what they’re up to..
There is a male Sylvari talking about a girl he likes near the Asura Gate to Ebonhawke in The Grove
Well it isn’t a Mursaat skeleton that’s for sure. They only have three toes
Pardon me if this is idiotic but nowhere does it actually say “Nobody was every allowed into Cantha”. The only thing that comes close is that the borders to Cantha were closed. Borders which one would have to assume are metaphorical considering the absence of any physical borders. If you take into consideration that the borders being closed was mentioned along side the exile of all non-humans it could quite simply mean that non-humans were denied entry. Them being isolationist and xenophobic doesn’t necessarily mean they didn’t allow trade with Kryta and Elona, it just means they wouldn’t allow any sort of external influence from other nations to be exerted on Cantha. All that considered is it not then entirely probable/possible that trade was continued between Kryta, Cantha and Elona up until the rise of Zhaitain. That would also justify the comment of Cantha being completely closed off after his rise, because if they had already closed themselves off that comment would be completely redundant. (And don’t go shouting ‘Order of Whispers!!!’ because their access to places would hardly be common knowledge and it’s possible that if they can still access Elona they can still access Cantha.). And take a breath.
Except that Ree wrote it, she’s not an imbecile and she should technically be the most knowledgeable person on GW lore shouldn’t she?
Is it possible that Cantha was still open to trade with Kryta since it was strictly humans coming through? I imagine that as long as none of the other races were coming close to Canthan ports they wouldn’t mind. Trade can occasionally be pretty necessary and I would think the Emperor would have the sense to acknowledge this even if he was a little crazy – exports = profits!
I just hope ANet doesn’t go the route of the “Father” being the reason why we have the Nightmare which eventually helped spawn the Court. I know it was started by one smarmy Secondborn, but still if they pull something like that on us it won’t be entertaining.
They wont.
Ventari is the sort of intellectual father figure for most Sylvari and the game makes that very clear. The Nightmare Court exist to try and eradicate that ‘external’ influence and essentially purify the tree. Adding an actual father who has caused the NC to come into being would immediately devalue the NC’s actions. The NC believe what they are doing is for the greater good of all Sylvari, they’re wrong, but it’s about what they believe. I don’t think Anet would undermine that so we should be safe xD.
Helios, isn’t it possible that both are right? It is suggested in Arah that the corruption was removed from Glint by the Forgotten, returning her mind to it’s former state – which implies that she existed prior to Kralk’s corruption. You could read that as – The God’s brought Glint into Tyria/sent Glint into Tyria, Kralk corrupted Glint, the Forgotten uncorrupted Glint. Unless that doesn’t fit within the bounds of the timeline?
Though honestly the Zephyrites seem a little nuts to me and I get the feeling that their beliefs wouldn’t really allow anyone to convince them that Glint is anything other than what they already believe her to be. >.>
I lol’d at her dialogue, but I think that is as much a homage to the fact that the dev’s expect the event to trigger hundreds and hundreds of times so it would hardly be shocking for the NPC to witness it over and over again and expect people to touch it.
But I think the idea behind the Pale Tree and the Sylvari is that they are uncorrupted pure life . If you go to Killeen’s grave the ground around her is free of corruption even though it’s in the middle of the Grove. I would like to think that the Pale Tree’s purpose is to birth the Sylvari so they can spread across the earth and eventually die -Where life goes, so too should you- removing corruption from the Earth. So I don’t think there is meant to be any kind of limit on the amount of Sylvari present on Tyria if they’re Tyria fighting back (pure speculation and tinfoil hatting of course). If the Pale Tree’s death caused all Sylvari to die they wouldn’t be a very effective means of purification would they. The Dream is also suggested to be something external to the Tree herself and is part of the Mists (I think?) so she’s more of a conduit rather than a direct lifeline.
(edited by FlamingFoxx.1305)
What I find odd is that they don’t seem particularly curious about the Sylvari, I think a couple of the NPC’s have even called me Sylvari by name which suggests they know what they are?
If it is Glint then I would suspect they built their airship to avoid both corruption from those below and also from the Elder Dragons – just a thought since Glint obviously knew of their existence :P
The Mursaatish looking thing and the Merchant near the tops dialogue did really strike me as odd.
Every time I talk to the Aspect Master at the top of Zephyr Sanctum and confirm that yes I want to play Sanctum Sprint I get taken to the Legacy of Foefire PvP map.
This is insanely annoying, I would love to experience this new activity but the game won’t let me… I don’t PvP so I can’t think why it would do this.
^— It’s possible they added Harpies into the Maguuma despite their absence in GW1. In ‘Sea of Sorrows’ there is a bit where they are talking about the Maguuma and I think Macha mentions there being Harpies there (which struck me as odd)…
Lmao, Well done :P
A lot of creatures can swim! Also a lot of them get frozen animations when pushed into water and look really ridiculous (e.g. the Risen Knights)
Can you try lowering the resolution of your computer quite a bit and then launching GW2. This sounds odd but it looks like it’s trying to run the launcher in full screen for some bizarre reason so perhaps it can’t cope with your resolution?
Do you have any other programs or tweaks running while trying to play? and what exactly is your mac? MBP iMac Mac mini?
ISP and Netdiag reports on MAC/Lag issue?

^— I’m confused Kylla I don’t see any mac instructions on the page you posted O_o.
But yeah, Fraco adding that command runs specific Windows programs so yes we could tell you how to add the command, but absolutely nothing would happen, the game would just launch as usual.
A chance to think before it is spoon fed to you? is that what I am detecting here? Oh, God, I never thought I would see the day. Praise to all that is holy that there is a desire to think in a game once again.
Can’t tell if mocking
But yes, that is exactly what I want. The Lore forums went into a lot of speculation over the new update and even when people are wrong it can reveal some interesting things – if all the information is laid out plain in front of people then nobody gets to do any thinking.
Seriously people learn how to read. I’ve said multiple times that the issue isn’t that the content/guides are there. I’m quite capable of not looking at it and I don’t look at it.
The problem is that it is available BEFORE the content is released which has a detrimental effect on the community as a whole and stops encouraging people to actually EXPERIENCE the content.
All I’m asking is that they limit the amount press sites are allowed to reveal beforehand and that sites like Dulfy don’t post their guides until the content has actually been released. Once the content is in game then sure people should be able to go and read guides and play it however they like – but it shouldn’t be a common expectation in game (and an expectaiton of the devs if you look at how they’re treating this stuff) that every single person in the game has already read guides.
ProxyDamage your analogy is ridiculous because It misses the point of what I’m saying. I’m not saying ‘I don’t want to see guides so they shouldn’t be there’. I’m saying the guides shouldn’t be there until players actually have the ability to experience the content. If people want to use guides then that is 100% ok with me – but the impact that this has on the playerbase as a whole is really saddening. You can have a different opinion but you don’t have to be so rude about it. Express your opinion but don’t call someone else stupid because you disagree with theirs.

^— Actually the majority of the patch notes have been released no more than an hour, and quite often after, the patch goes live.
They aren’t at work at the moment… So I think you kind of have to forgive them for not posting them.
From what we can see the other races don’t have a problem with it. I can’t see any logical reason for them to have any issues with same-gender couples anyway.
-snip-
Oh I agree with you there, I don’t have any problems with the damage dealt by Ele’s. I play a staff ele also and it is very easy to do more damage than a D/D ele, even when spec’d into Earth and Water. The issue comes from how quickly other races can down us (I’m looking at you mesmers and thieves, the scourge of my existence)
But if the Dwarves handed over responsibility to Humans there would have to be a reason for them doing so. The Rite makes a lot of sense for that, which is recentish enough that you would think any humans who had a hand in building the Sanctum might have some clue what was going on.
Exactly what Elthurien said. There is a test server, it’s simply private and is populated by people who have access to it specifically for testing.
Public test servers simply aren’t a good idea. You split the player base and create a large group of people who have zero impact on the game economy and basically get to exist inside some pointless bubble – the majority of whom end up not actually playing in it because they want to help test for bugs but rather because they want to experience content before everyone else.
Ascension is attained by defeating the Doppelganger in Augury Rock though, not by reaching Glint.. Although considering Glint was supposedly brought into Tyria by the gods perhaps they just wanted to offer her protection etc. -dons tinfoil hat and sits quietly in wait-
(and I do stick to the idea that they brought her into Tyria, there is nothing to indicate that she was created by Kralk and more to indicate that he corrupted her and that her state of mind was returned to her by the Forgotten while her body retained the corrupted look)
^— This. You get back what you have put in. The people complaining need to release that changing peoples points would be equivalent to taking away peoples Hall of Monuments rewards just because you don’t want to play GW1…
I do agree that some longer Male options would be nice.
Really interesting to hear that Kristen! The kind of regal look of the Pale Tree definitely does a great job of showing the Egyptian influence.
Yeah you have some really good pointkitteninz. Given that indication of time it might be weird for it to mean Glint since she would have been aware of what was going on with the Dwarves, I imagine she also would have been more likely to charge the Forgotten with a responsibility like that – although if they were all busy in the redeemed realm?
The thing that annoys me is that we have the “Aspects” in this release, I feel like if it were Glint we would have some reference to the Facet’s rather than Aspects. (Unless the Facet’s were strictly to do with the Gods, but then it seems odd to me that they were protecting Glint’s lair).
But with the knowledge we have you would think that it isn’t someone of any of the major races. The Dwarves hardly would have made something for the humans and then left the humans to take over the responsibility. Nor can I see it relating to any of the elder races. So Glint does seem like the best option :S (Calling her the Elder seems kind of like a slap in the face to the Elder Dragons xD, they should be more careful about tempting fate..)
You’re right. But being in love with someone doesn’t mean you’re in a relationship with them xD. It’s also possible that he came to love her like that because of her actions, either way judging on what we had in the book I just don’t think there was anything going on between Miss Green and the blundering Oaf, oops sorry I meant Norn…
^— We have a different opinion, and that’s ok
It is built off of the GW1 engine if that helps you at all?
Rangers, I say this and I don’t even play one…. There are so many players who do play rangers and it makes it very very noticeable that the profession is a little neglected.
After that I would say Ele’s. Even spec’d into Earth and Water we die ridiculously easily. It’s pretty much ‘play D/D or go home’, and I don’t want to use daggers, daggers on a casting profession is ridiculous and shouldn’t be considered the most viable option.
Inb4 someone calls me out for being a whining Ele. Consider that with so many of us whining there might actually be a reason for it…
Perhaps Sylvari return to the dream and therefore can’t be wandering souls with unfinished business or whatever it is that causes people in GW to be ghosts (I seem to recall reading something that suggested it was the typical ‘unfinished business’ thing, but considering the amount of happy/content ghosts we come across I don’t think thats right)
It sort of reads as if someone has read the text and then tried to recreate it from memory…
