My memory of the details of Ghosts of Ascalon are a little fuzzy, but Gullik and Killeen only knew each other for the duration of the novel. I’m pretty sure that she died while trying to save him and the rest of the group from the branded. His dialogue is meant to be more about his profound respect and gratitude for her actions rather than something romantic I think.
There are Dolyak ghosts in Harathi Hinterlands. You escort them back to their cave or something weird like that O_o.
Dear two people above MKalafut please learn to read…
It isn’t just about how the previews make ME feel it’s about how they change the game environment and player attitude.
There’s a difference between letting people know what the new content will be – which the release pages do a great job of – and completely ruining every single aspect of it, which is what the ‘previews’ do.
I’m getting sick of how much GW2 seems to be catering to all the imbeciles who think that a good game is a game that instantly rewards them for doing absolutely nothing at all. Start letting players experience the game first hand, maybe then we’ll start seeing a positive community emerge.
(He posts angrily after having just been killed multiple times by some invisible mesmer in Obsidian Sanctum whilst innocently jump jump jumping along. -rages-)
How did I somehow miss that O_O.
I honestly just accepted that for no good reason whatsoever there was a vision of glint statue in Drok’s.
But I’m pretty sure there has never been any mention of a relationship between Glint and the Dwarves. The Forgotten served Glint, not Dwarves O_o.
I also don’t think a Dragon would have an airship built to protect her heritage?
I know that back with the first couple of content releases, e.g. Halloween, a lot of players complained that there wasn’t enough information accessible about the releases before they happened. As a result of this we saw a lot more information put on the content release pages for subsequent releases and this is great. The content release pages are a brilliant way to deliver enough information to pique interest without spoiling everything.
For the life of me I can’t figure out why we’ve suddenly gotten to a point where the entire contents of the releases is being shown prior to the actual release. By doing these developer livestreams and giving access to sites like Dulfy who then put out extensive guides BEFORE the content is available you’re actually taking a lot of fun out of it. People should be excited to get in game and explore what the new content has to offer and they should feel like all of it is brand new to them. As things stand the releases feel stale because instead of people trying to figure things out and actually exploring you end up with a chatbox full of “There’s a guide on Dulfy”, “Go look on Dulfy” etc.
Tl;dr Can you please stop completely spoiling any aspect of surprise for the content releases.
Before someone starts saying “just don’t look watch/read the stuff”, that doesn’t address the actual problem here. New content should be new. Arenanet shouldn’t be encouraging a gameplay mentality where players are basically expected to read how to play the content before playing it – encourage players to figure things out and help each other out. You’re killing the gameplay and community environment as it stands.
Well all of the footage and commentary pretty much says that they are Canthan humans who live in the clouds.
The Tengu are on what used to be Sanctum Cay…
The Gate in LA could serve any purpose but it isn’t the border of the Dominion of Winds.
^— Yup. the 13" all have integrated graphics card (I think), so they don’t do a very good job.
They are probably just being careful. You know how much sensitive people and governments became the past few years
We have to remember always that even though GW2 is in a world different from ours, the gods of GW2 are still on planet Earth :p
Anyway, with the recent patches, I noticed there’s a growing number of NPCs that are possibly of Canthan origin. Why they are suddenly in Tyria even though the seas are still being blockaded, is weird. Unless they came via the air, which fits with the sudden appearance of the Ætherblade pirates and the coming next patch Bazaar of the Four Winds and the Zephyr Sanctum.
The NPC’s with Canthan visuals have always been there, they are the descendants of Canthans who migrated to Tyria or sought refuge in Tyria before Cantha was closed off.
I think you all lack a basic understanding of how spheres work…
Also Shael NCSoft is the distributor, Arenanet is the developer. GW1 existed long before Aion, there is no influence… Aion exists on the interior of a sphere rather than the traditional exterior – it’s not dissimilar to a Dyson sphere so it’s hardly an original idea.
Tyria is a sphere and from what we can observe there isn’t anything particularly odd about it.
You guys are missing some really crucial facts, the ‘fight’ against Zhaitain wasn’t just that final little bit in the end of Arah Story mode. We’ve been fighting him through the entire personal story, trying to find his weaknesses and ways to fight the dragons corruption. The 5 races have banded together and merged their knowledge and technologies and have fought through the hordes of Orr.
Just because the fight seemed ‘easy’ mechanically doesn’t mean that it actually was easy by any means. Zhaitan is dead, the Pact and the PC worked very hard to achieve that, I’m sorry none of you seem to recognise all the effort that they put into it >.>
^— and that has absolutely nothing to do with the HoM…
Sea of Sorrows is the designated Oceanic server so it is entirely possible that we’re all just playing at a different time to you.
But yeah, most people tend to do dungeons with their guilds.
Also if your entire race had spent that much time in some phased out dimensiony thing you might all go a bit mad….
Open up System Preferences and make sure that the correct device is set for your speakers.
Open up GW2 and open the Options menu. Navigate to the sound panel and try turning the Master Slider to the far Right, try putting all the other sliders to the far right. Check that the sound device in GW2 is correct and try changing the sound device to check the others in case they work.
Do you have any speakers plugged in or are you using your mac’s default speakers?
Yup. Pretty sure that is GW1 concept art.

It works just fine for me with my Saitek mouse so I’m not really sure what to tell you?
Can you open System Preferences and check that you have both right and left click enabled?
It looks so dreadful. The design isn’t tooooo bad, but the way it handles the dyes just ruined it for me. I tried it on my Sylvari (Ele) and just no, I couldn’t
The UI font will just be a standard system font.
So i decided to start posting some sketches i’v made, i’v quick painted em even cause i can’t rlly digital paint, it’s just so the diffrent “materials” were easier to tell from one another
a Palm Tree Pony, and a Flowery Long Hair
Hope you like it :P more will come meanwhile, i rlly enjoyd drawing those
WOW. Those are really really amazing. I think you’re better at digital painting than you think you are xD.
I really love those concepts, it’s nice to see some kind of variation in the plants used. The existing hairstyles seem to mostly just use the same kind of thick leaved fronds.
If you do any more or if you have a deviantart account I would love to see!
^— I think the issue with that is there is nothing to suggest the Mursaat couldn’t have saved the other races and phased them out of Tyria as well. If it was a choice between dying with the other races or saving their entire people and it was only their people they could save then obviously the choice wouldn’t really be ‘evil’. But if they had the option to save all the races and simply chose not to – that’s pretty evil >.>
Is it possible that these blue gates are Asura designed gates specifically for use by the Order of Whispers or something weird o_O?
It’s not even that there are MORE homosexual relationships. It’s quite simply that it is more noticeable since it isn’t something you usually come across in games. As Konig said Anet wanted to emphasise that they aren’t particular about the perceived gender of who they love.
^— that makes no sense O_o
I’m sorry you’re kidding right?
The first two were written very very poorly I found myself cringing at the language they used and the really weak attempts at incorporating character description and development. Ree is a far superior writer.
^— that is really really weak evidence…
The Asura have been living underground, of course they haven’t seen it before. The Norn have just moved south I believe, so of course they haven’t seen it.
Being stargazers doesn’t give them any kind of claim to a building with a star in it. There are a couple of observatories in Elona, the building is therefore probably Elonan.. Do you see how flawed that kind of logic is?
If you’re just pointing out a possible connection, then yes a possible connection exists, but there isn’t anything to really support it and there is nothing definite about it…
^— Yes it will lower the heat a bit and then fans won’t run anywhere near as loud.

Do you mean the whole ‘if you hold both buttons down at the same time you run forwards’ thing?
Or are you saying that it treats all of your clicks as left clicks?
Yeah you use Google Authenticator from the app store.

Can you try Kylla’s suggestion in there and let us know if it works at all?
I noticed something perhaps a little odd.
In the Aetherblade Retreat dungeon once you’ve gone along the wooden walkway with the electrical barriers and get to the top there is a dancing hologram. I’m pretty sure it is doing the Sylvari dance… Seems odd for an organisation with no Sylvari in it unless someone higher up is?
Yes I have more than you, I did more than you. Why on earth should the fruits of my effort be erased to accommodate your desire? I am here for myself , and the reward of my effort cannot have any effect upon the reward of your efforts.
If you desire help, ask me. By helping you, I may enrich us both, that is of value.
If you cause the destruction of what is mine, you impoverish us both. After all, why would I help any who destroy what I value?
This is my stance on the issue.
I don’t understand the point of your comment…
They aren’t taking away your achievement points, if you have a lot of points then good for you, you will have access to a lot of rewards!
^— Yeah, GW1 had a far larger number of monster types, even just in prophecies, even counting everything that used the same model as 1 thing, there were still more monsters in GW1.
^— Well Account based rewards is really what the new Achievement system is all about… So you aren’t likely to get more account based rewards for the anniversary, if they did that time essentially becomes another in game currency and that is problematic.
The Priest of Grenth is referring to this event:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Defeat_the_Lady_in_White
and the Engineer is referring to this area:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Bandithaunt_Caverns
(Also Grenth isn’t a necromancer, he is the God of Death (amongst other things).
you have only confused me. are they resetting acheivment points? if so booooooo
Of course not…
I’m not really familiar with NVIDIA graphics cards so I have no idea how decent yours is. Your processor is only a core 2 duo though, which is a bit of a hindrance.
Pretty sure you can’t upgrade anything other than the RAM on a MBP so your best bet is probably to shift to a newer 15" MBP if you want decent FPS.
Of course WoW has higher FPS, it’s a game from 2004 so it is nowhere near as graphically intensive as GW2 is. You also have to take into account that the GW2 OSX client is a port. It runs inside a Cider Wrapper so it is basically emulating parts of Windows, that means your system has to work a lot harder to run the game than it would if the client were native or you were running the game in Windows.
Just a side note, if you can try installing Windows via Bootcamp and seeing what FPS you get there because you may find it much better without having to shell out money on a new mac.
There will be an NPC who says “Oh hai I invented this new game”. Same as with Dragon Ball…
I could see it being the Druids in some final stage of life in which they begin to merge completely with the Maguuma. But it could equally be something to do with the Nightmare Court and be a physical manifestation of the pain inflicted on the forest by the NC.
mursaat, maybe? We know that mursaat structures look like asuran structures. And they have connections to bloodstones
We don’t “know” that actually O_o.
The only Mursaat structures we have unequivocally seen are the Jade constructs, the ether tower thingies and their buildings on the Ring of Fire Island Chain, which were purple and not very Asuran looking.
We'd like an update on getting out of Beta

Nope I haven’t yet. I completely forgot
^— Debit Cards all the way.

Orr uses Arabic influenced names :P
Yeah, there isn’t likely to be anything depicting their old state. Concept art is used for conceptions of possible in game things, so you’ll find concept art of Jotun as you see them now/similar to now, but not their past form.
Hello! I am currently having a very similar problem, however instead of a grey window, my screen becomes full screen and all that appears is the GW2 cursor on a black screen. Then I have to CMND+Q to quit the app. i have tried typing ~/library/ in my finder search box and have not found the Application Support folder you mentioned. I have also tried spotlighting “Application Support” and have not been able to find it. What should i do next?
P.S. i tried taking a screenshot of the black screen and GW2 cursor but the cursor didnt appear in the screenshots
You can’t search for it. Follow the instructions carefully. Open Finder and click “Go” in the menu bar. Then select “Go to folder” from the drop down menu and type ~/library/ into that box. That will take you to the folder with application support. Then inside there delete the Guild Wars 2 folder.
The user library is hidden, you can’t access it through spotlight searches.
I currently have no idea how the Sanctum is going to fit into lore. I dont think its tied to the Tengu cause there really is no sign of them in the screen shots or the concept art. Currently Im guessing either some elemental based race or, because the structures remind me a bit of Cantha, perhaps an decendent offshoot of the Luxons. The Luxons did use the magical Jade and Amber to power their landships so maybe something similar using wind charged crystals?
In the end there is a very good chance Im completely wrong and this is a completely new thing. As for where…. A crazy idea but what if the whole thing is in the air. We see alot of floating rocks around in the game. What if its a giant levitating chunk of rock?
Oh well, we will find out in a few more days. Im actually interested in how this is going to thread into the over all story arc of the Living Story. Perhaps someone formed a force of sky pirates to raid a sky market? Those crystals sound certainly interesting.
The concept art all looks strictly wood + fabric though, which is backed up by the word “kite” in most of the descriptions. It will be really interesting to see what it is nonetheless.
There are people, but not many. You’ll find people in the major outposts but probably not in the earlier zones so you would be playing Solo.
The game is most definitely soloable, I completed almost all of the story missions in both Normal and Hard mode on my own.
It will take you a bit of time to get through all three campaigns and EoTN, although it will depend on what content you are wanting to experience. A lot of lore is delivered through quests so if you are planning on doing all the quests then of course it’s going to take a bit longer. If you JUST wanted to do the missions (you would miss out on a lot of content) then it wouldn’t take anywhere near as long. Although you still have to factor in getting to level 20.
I STRONGLY suggest you play the free trial and decide if the game is right for you before you decide to buy it.
Konig,
Again as always you are saying so much bullkitten top prove your point.
First off all I am not saying it is bout Tengu or not, I’m pointing out some important simularity’s.
Izu is not a weaponsmith he is a crafter asked to make weapons for the pact. In war all tools are considered weapons, so do the airship. But it looks like you bend the facts to your own conclusion.
Imperial sanctum did have clifs, tidal waves could have changed it to what it is now.
So again you are bending facts. I will ask you again to leave me alone. You lost all credit to me in the narrow minded way you argue. If there was a block function I would have used it. So leave me alone!!!
Do not argue with me, do not quote me (specially as false as you always does). do not try to talk with me but get lost!
On Izu, having just done this story step the other day I can most confidently confirm that he is a weaponsmith. His dialogue also confirms this:
“Years ago, we swore a friendship after battling undead monstrosities together. When he invited me here, I remembered that bond. I shall craft the finest weapons Trahearne has ever seen.”
Saying “In war all tools are considered weapons” is a rather baseless and subjective assumption. Weapons are considered weapons in war. Airships are considered transport or airships…
When you say “Imperial Sanctum” I assume you meant Sanctum Cay?
A Cay by definition is “a low bank or reef of coral, rock, or sand”. No tidal wave can add stable land where it did not previous exist. If the Dominion of Winds has high land in it then it is artificial and built up by the Tengu, rather than natural rock formations – therefore there definitely aren’t cliffs…
There were volcanic rock formations, as there were with much of Kryta in GW1, but nothing that would be constituted a cliff. All of the high points were made up of sand and dirt and weren’t actually all that high.
I’m not trying to be nasty or anything, but Konig uses very sound logic in all his answers so when you start insulting him like that it doesn’t come off very well…
