^— To add on to that. If there suddenly were some massive Tengu stuff going on in Tyria I think the citizens might be making a bit more of a big deal about it. Considering how, except for a small few, the Tengu have kept to themselves and out of the affairs of the other races.
It will take a decent amount of time.. You would need to finish all of the campaigns, unlock alternate armours for all the Nightfall heroes and get some minipets in order to get some of the easiest points.
Only buy GW1 if you actually want to play and will enjoy it. There is a free trial, I STRONGLY suggest you take advantage of that. It’s not the kind of game you will want to play just to get titles if you don’t enjoy it. If you do try it and find that you enjoy it, then you probably won’t mind working through the game to get titles.
You’re thinking too far ahead. The game is only almost near the first year of release. We might expect new classes when/if an expansion comes out. As to when that might be we can only speculate. I would think maybe end of this year or beginning of next perhaps.
If there IS New Krytan I would think it’s just a reused texture.. We’ve seen the outside of the HoM in GW1…
The Asura Gate was most likely put there shortly after the events of GW1, although it’s possible that it is only there mechanically as a way for us to exit and isn’t actually there in terms of lore.
^— That’s what I think also.
Yeah I meant armour similar to the Sylvari cultural armours, but available for all races. Human-looking clothes are available for everyone and in large quantities, why shouldn’t Sylvari clothes be also?
And we were more saying that Sylvari look odd in a lot of regular clothes.
Don’t forget the nightmare hounds within the dream when you start a new character though. By introducing those negative subconscious experiences, the Dream itself creates the physical things within it.
Actually, Nightmare hounds (like Fern Mastifs/Sylvan Hounds – which they are versions of, twisted by Nightmare) are creatures of the Pale Tree so naturally they share in the dream as well, hence their presence.
“The Dream can impart knowledge and sensation, but not actual experience”
The sylvari add their experiences to the Dream. So their subconsciousness does affect it even though it exists independently. That’s how the nightmare courts is working. By causing enough pain and terror to alter the dream.
That is through the memories and experiences (of them doing evil things) that they pass on to the unborn Sylvari, not through the creation of physical things within the dream.
it is unfortunate. I think the new JP needs a temporary Buff which prevent swiftness from being cast on you, that way you can control it yourself.
In most other JP’s swiftness is really helpful, but this JP is too finicky and the jumps are all designed with the default jump distance in mind so it really doesn’t help.
Guy says : I dont like any of the “9” hair styles that exist in the game . Could we get some more?
Guy 2 (not even considered troll for this) : No, i like them. So you dont need them.
So devs should not make more hair styles, so that others “can” pick them if they want to….not even forcing anyone to anything, its just an OPTION. Because you are hapy with it. And the other 330 000 0000 players should rot in hell, because its propably only your problem.
THAT is the TIPICAL awnser for almost anything i get suggesting ANYTHING. Or in fact the most suggestions or “pleas and preyers” get the same awnsers.Good way to go cumminty….
Know what? I also want more hair styles. I was extremely unhappy with all of them. And Norn have like 3 times more?
Yeah well Norn and Human’s seem to be their golden children. I Lol’d so hard when the dev’s said they were disappointed that so many people play humans since they’re missing out on really good story content, yet the dev’s design everything with humans in mind….
I’m absolutely certain that in the future they will release more Sylvari hairstyles. I’m not too worried about it, my Sylvari looks great xD. But if they release any new professions I’m going to need more hairstyles so I can make another Sylvari… ;P
This is my Sylvari Amfortas Agravain
You can’t quite tell how adorably pointy his nose is in this shot, but I think it still does him justice.
Firstly I just want to start off by saying that this isn’t me complaining about the JP being too hard and that I can’t do it etc. etc. I know that if I keep trying I will finish it eventually and I will feel good about it. This is more just my thoughts on what constitutes good JP design and why i feel like this one falls short in a few ways.
My biggest concern is something I’ve been seeing across the game. There seems to be this opinion that ‘difficult’ = challenging, fun and good. It really doesn’t. Difficulty is about mastery and requiring users to carefully calculate and time things. I feel as though this new JP relies too heavily on blind jumping and already knowing where to go.
If you look at JP’s like Hidden Garden (which is undoubtedly a user favourite) and Morgan’s Spiral, one of the first things you notice is that these puzzles have very specific paths and it is always obvious where you need to jump to next. The thing is being able to see where to go doesn’t automatically mean you can do it with ease, that is what makes these ‘difficult’ and fun. Hidden Garden’s jumping section up the tree for example isn’t always easy, making the jumps between mushrooms requires you to be careful with your jumps, yet it’s enjoyable.
If I look to the Mad Kings Tower and the Wintersday puzzles, once again the path was always clear. You had a good sense of where you needed to go. These puzzles brought difficulty in the form of a time limit, something that worked well and encouraged users to learn the path. But they weren’t unforgiving, if you fell it wasn’t a big deal.
The new JP seems to have dropped everything learnt in the others. If you fall there is a good chance you will die. The jumps aren’t always immediately obvious (unless you watch the steady stream of people in which case nevermind). There are jumps which require you to land in a specific place which you cannot see because it is above you and will kill you if you don’t (really bad design because anyone just starting the puzzle either needs to have ruined it and looked up the path or make it out of luck). There is the very easy possibility of being sabotaged, in most other JP’s if someone else speed buffs you it isn’t a big deal, in this one it spells death – most of the jumps have been created with the default jumping distance in mind and have a small landing area and death to either side, being speed buffed just as you jump (which happens frequently) pretty much kills you.
I wan’t to reiterate, I’m not saying ’It’s too hard make it easier!‘. I just want to express my opinions and maybe see what other people think. I’m going to keep trying and I know I will get it eventually. But it definitely doesn’t rank anywhere on my list of top JP’s. And I live for the JP’s
It’s only July 2nd if you live in New Zealand, Australia or some other part of Oceania….
GW2 is an American game, you have to wait for July 2nd in their specific part of the world, and even then they could release it at any time of day – they need their staff to be in at work in case anything goes wrong and needs fixing. It’s not like it hits July 2nd and everything happens automatically….
I’ve been thinking about the Jungle Dragon. When I first started playing my Sylvari I just assumed it was a metaphor in the dream of the dragons to come. The Jungle Dragon in my opinion looks too much like The Plague Bringer. The Shatterer, and Claw of Jormag look nothing like The Plague Bringer who is probably breather-in to Sunless, plus I think Anet is a little more acutely original. I think the only reason the Jungle Dragon looked plant like is our Slyvari haven’t seen outside the dream yet, and may be coupled with thoughts from the subconscious of all they have known before birth.
What is the Plague Bringer?
Also the Sylvari don’t control the dream, it’s sort of a place in the mists kind of thing, so their subconscious would not effect how things within the dream appear. It’s important to note that the Dream existed before Sylvari and that other things can enter it, explaining the presence of a Dragon minion and the White Staf. The Pale Tree believes that the Plant dragon we fight is our Wyld Hunt to fight Zhaitan, and considering we end up on a Wyld hunt to fight Zhaitan we probably have to assume she is right.
Hmm…i think i ’ve seen ina a post in this subforum, some months ago that EotN (outer side of wall) has New Krytan characters on it.
That is extremely unlikely. If so then it would be reused textures. But there would be no logical reason for there to be New Krytan on an old structure that we can almost guarantee is not man-made.
I don’t think you’re likely to find someone with both the new MBA and a 1080 screen…
Also bumping is against the forum codes of conduct.
Well. I could kind of see this being a new area next to Lions Arch/below Genddaren Fields? Since we can see water, a waterfall, moutains and I would think that the wooden structures are in-progress buildings or something?
Do you have any shortcuts that you use for playing where you hold down Control and click any of the F1-F12 keys? (These put the focus onto other things, for example the menu bar, which I believe would allow the game to stay active because it’s running in full screen but it would shift the mouse focus off screen).
Also, what mice are you using? Is this with an apple magic mouse/mighty mouse or is it a 3rd party mouse. If you’re using a MBP what happens if you try Three finger dragging or performing some kind of multi-touch gesture with the trackpad, does it release the mouse?
I’m just wondering if perhaps the issue is that GW2 is losing the mouse focus and can’t reactivate it for some bizarre reason?

I managed to walk through a rock in Fields of Ruin and proceeded to run underneath the map. Was extremely interesting.
Similarly Goemm’s lab was/is bugged and I fell from the JP and didn’t die when I landed. I was left on top of the Inquest lab and could run around places you wouldn’t normally be able to reach, it had some really cool views
.
Free waypoints.
There are issues with that though. GW1 let you travel between Outposts for free. GW2 has too many WP’s for that to be a good thing.
But I think that travelling to the 6 major cities should definitely be free.
Also you can /report people in game
.
Reasons why not:
The staff have better things to do with their time than sift through submissions. For example – creating their own armour sets to go in game, fixing issues, etc.
You can’t ensure quality in things people submit. Even if they are reviewed by staff the chance of users actually putting everything in all the right places, coding, modelling correctly etc is slim to none. It’s not feasible.
However:
I would love to see the return of the design a weapon contests that were held occasionally in GW1. Some of the games best looking weapons were created based on winning submissions by users. It’s always cool to see what people come up with.
I’m so happy to be able to use the Wayward Wand in GW2 simply because I know that it was designed by a user for GW1 which makes it just that bit more special and cool.
Yup. RNG needs to go. I can accept it’s presence in the BLT chests but it shouldn’t exist in anything else. If you just want to have the Dragon Coffers drop a random amount of candy and fireworks sure. Put the weapon skins somewhere else where players can either earn them or purchase them.
I definitely agree with your suggestions on Dungeons. it would fix a lot of the issues with players just running the shorter dungeons over and over again. People might be willing to do the others if the reward reflected the time input.
I don’t understand why you need target golems when you have real enemies you can go out an practice against O_o?
Player to player trading was possible in Guild Wars 1 so I’m not really sure why they didn’t implement it in GW2.
Rock Dogs are always a possibility. But they will only implement them if they add a new skin to each type of pet, they won’t just add an extra skin for one pet.
The point of PvP is that everyone is on an even playing field. That way the outcome is determined by your SKILL not your gear. You can’t give advantages in PvP, all you end up with is the strong people staying strong and the weak or new people not being able to advance at all. Upgrading in PvP would kill PvP and prevent it from being anything remotely close to an e-sport…. WoW is not known for it’s PvP at all, in fact I’m pretty sure most competitive PvPers think WoW’s PvP is dreadful, so I don’t even know what you’re on about -_-
Reasons the party size is (and should stay) at 5:
Not everyone has a large screen, With a party of 5 the Party UI is taking up a decent chunk of space, adding more people complicates that even more.
There isn’t a lot of chance of anyone being able to keep track of more than 5 people.
You have guild chat for co-ordinating your guild…
Coding dungeons to scale to larger parties would be a nightmare. The more people you have the more condition stacks and immobilises or interrupts your party can cast, it’s hard for a dungeon to scale to cope with that without it crippling how you play or ending up like open world boss zergs where everyone can just spam skills 1&2.
Yes. We need the GW1 emotes
!
I miss being able to just play instruments with party members while waiting for someone to come back from being AFK etc.
What if you started playing an instrument and the NPC’s around you joined in like with Henchmen/heroes in GW1
-squee-
So sorry my husband posted this. I myself am a new player on his account. Making a suggestion about the game hardly seems like crying, if that’s what you assume here I feel sorry for you.
Tip in life: Stalking is frowned upon by my husband and I
Yeah I would be really careful. Sharing accounts is against the EULA/TOS.
+1.
It’s not such a big issue for the other races because cloth, leather and metal look fine on them and lore-wise make a lot of sense. We’ve seen Norn, Charr and Asura in GW1 wearing similar clothes to humans.
Sylvari on the other hand are (usually green) plant people. Typical armour and clothing can look a bit silly on them and it would be great to have more options than the 3 Cultural armours and the Twilight Arbour armour. Also the Twilight Arbour armour just looks a bit ridiculous on Male Sylvari, especially the headpiece. So more please
!
I would love to see the Jade sea in the new engine. I can just imagine how long i would stand and stare at it. I said it before and I’ll say it again, Please bring Cantha back, if nothing else at least recreate the Canthan district in DR. It would undoubtedly mean a lot to the community.
Firstly: The Jade Sea has begun to melt, of course it’s possible that it hasn’t fully melted yet, but I would expect large areas of it to be water again.
Also we get an idea of how gorgeous a Gw2 Jade Sea would be from the Jade Sea Fractal
, which is gorgeous.
Split skill balance between PvP/PvE.
They’ve said that from this point on they are looking at balancing skills functions differently between PvE and PvP and I think there might be a few skills already with split functions
Because there are 8 professions and it would be a nightmare to program 8 possibilities into EVERYTHING just so people could feel like their profession was having more of an ‘impact’ on what is happening.
You are given choices on how to act throughout the game and you are left to play your profession however you want. Yes in the perfect MMO your profession would have an impact on everything. But do you have any idea how ridiculously implausible that is in todays gaming world. Companies don’t have the time, budget, personnel etc to implement this kind of system.
To you the end user it might seem as simple as ‘oh I’m an Engineer I should be able to blow this door up, whereas a thief should be able to sneak around to some other entrance’. But on the coding, art, designing, QA levels that tiny little possibility constitutes a LOT of work. It isn’t plausible.
That’s great! Glad you can play again
Lol, I agree, that’s why I perma unhide my files <.< two library folders confused the kitty out of me ;p
I couldn’t do that, it’s so ugly with .dstores and .bins sitting everywhere
<— Minimalist.
Nope :S. The only time my cursor disappears is in the inventory on occasion, which happens in windows as well and isn’t a big deal.
I assume when it disappears it’s still there but just not visible? Like, can you hover things and click?
Yeah I think it’s just when people don’t quite have a full understanding of how macs work and how files are handled etc. (Mostly stemming from the fact that Apple -tries- to make everything seem really simplistic and in the process makes it more complex to do anything they have decided you shouldn’t need to). I was so completely baffled by their decision to hide the Library folder in Lion and ML. I mean, I understand that people shouldn’t really need to access the folder, but they make it difficult for people who do or might ever need to.
i dont know how to find the hidden one. theres only one app support folder there. any settings i need to adjust to see it?
Open Finder
Click “Go” in the menu bar and then hold down the option key. “Library” should appear in that drop down menu while you’re holding Option. Click Library
Then go to the Application SUpport folder inside the Library that has opened up
Inside there is a ‘Guild Wars 2’ folder. Delete it, restart your computer and then open GW2. It should perform a small download and then start up. Let us know how that goes.(Kylla, I think in your instructions it might be better to place my instructions about holding Option to get to the library, or perhaps the “Go to folder” command might be simpler. People don’t seem to bother reading through the link you post and I think people are hesitant about using the Terminal >.>)
please Take a look at my reply above this one to see my further troubleshooting, i tried it your suggestion and also did read her link, and enables the hidden files in terminal, its just not there, greyed or full colored. and when i click
- Library- Application Support- there is no guildwars2 folder there. heres a screenshot of what i seeBecause that is the wrong Library. Please try and follow my instructions very carefully.
Open Finder.
Click ‘Go’ in the menu bar and then click ‘Go To Folder’ from the drop down menu.
This will open a little dialogue box. Copy and paste this into it: “~/library/” without the quotation marks.
Press ‘Go’ and it will take you to your User Library. Now click ‘Application Support’ from the list that shows up inside the Library.
Inside there is a folder called ‘Guild Wars 2’, delete that entire folder.
Restart your computer.
Start Guild Wars 2.ok thanks i’ll try it, at first you didnt say to type ~/library/ you just said to press option, and go lol, maybe you thought you put it? either way i found the file, and now restarting mac. i’ll let ya know!
Actually the original instructions I gave are correct, it’s just a different way of doing it. I figured the way I told you just now might be easier. People don’t seem to get that they have to hold option in order for library to appear in the go menu, it only shows up while option is held down.
Great to hear
Personally I might be inclined to believe that as the Pale Tree grew she observed the world around her and created children that would be at least in some ways familiar to the world around them.
While it doesn’t debunk the explanation, this theory is unlikely for three reasons.
Firstly, Malyck. A Sylvari supposedly from a tree seperate to the Pale Tree, he has no memories of the dream or his grove and seems to be good natured, like our Sylvari. It might not seem like much, but this means there's more than one Sylvari grove and that unless that grove also based Sylvari on humans, their form is naturally what it is. In the personal story for Sylvari characters who believe most in Ventari’s teaching that “Where life goes, so two should you”.
Next, if the Pale Tree WAS basing the Sylvari on existing life, why not centaurs?
Finally, if she designed plant people based on humans, why make them drastically fairer than them?
The Sylvari were the real threat the entire time, spreading across tyria at a alarming rate.
If you’re referring to the whole ‘The Pale Tree is an Elder Dragon’ theory then please stand still while I cast Meteor and destroy you >.>
Open Finder.
Click ‘Go’ in the menu bar and then select ‘Go to folder’ from the drop down menu that appears.
Type “~/library/” (without the quotation marks) into the box that appears and then click Go. This will take you to your user library. (It is a hidden folder so you cannot navigate to it yourself or search for it in Spotlight).
Now that you are inside the Library folder there will be a folder inside there called ‘Application Support’ Open that.
Inside Application Support is a folder called ‘Guild Wars 2’. Delete it and then restart your computer.
Now when you start up Guild Wars 2 it should do a small download (I think 8 files, maybe 20). Let us know if that fixes the problem.

^— Yes well you realise that we are simply other users not actual tech support -_-
The ‘canned replies’ are canned because they are what commonly fixes issues for the mac client, we’re just random people who have managed to figure out a couple of helpful things and are willing to share it with people who unfortunately have issues.
Nothing beats Trahearne, even Kormir didn’t beat trahearne.
That is harsh. Trahearne is better than Kormir I think. Kormir was just, I mean what even was that. She literally did NOTHING throughout the entire storyline, every single time she accompanied you she never attacked. Then for some bizarre reason she gets to become a god instead of your character who has already beaten the Lich and Shiro…. Just, what even was that. I can’t even process the insanity. I hate you Kormir, so much.
They could If they put us in a Asian region or something. I know they’re working on Chinese and South Korean servers. Really wouldn’t be that hard to ad an oceanic server to the region…
The ping ATM is quite ridiculous.
There are obvious issues with putting players in English speaking countries with players from countries where English is hardly spoken at all…
Not to mention the Chinese and South korean versions of the game are likely to be completely separated from the Western servers. They are a completely different market and they expect different things from their MMO’s so there are likely to be differences between the Western and Eastern versions of the game. (It’s also problematic putting Oceanic players on a server which a country well known for it’s numerous botters and gold farmers plays…
Yeah the Gendarren Fields mountain is definitely the new JP. You can see the steam launch pads that were in the Aetherblade Retreat, so it makes sense for the JP location.

Also can you let us know if you have made any changes to the client or GW2 files prior to this change happening.
Have you made sure you are running the game from an Admin account?
True Foxx, the anomaly I mentioned is when it transfers that colour profile to your desktop/other programs or gets dodgy when returning to gw2… So yeah, nothing to worry about unless you continue to only experience washed out colours in game.
Yeah, I’ve had a few times when my graphics card switches while using google chrome or something and the screen goes bluish (while GW2 isn’t running and hasn’t been running during that session). It’s a commonish issue though and is more related to the switching of the graphics cards than GW2 (because it happens for people who don’t have GW2). Doing an SMC reset gets rid of it if the problem is persistent, but most times restarting fixes it
