There is a reason why on duel servers necros are allowed to start with 20% life force.

So i agree, but the 2 second delay on leaving ds kittenes me off more…

Yup, hopefuly the delay is realy getting fixed. It sux tho, that bugfixes are repacked as buffs

Is the 20% a common rule? I heard anti-necro noobs say 0, noob necros 100, and most others who dont know much on the subject say 50% LF.
I personaly always thought 20% to be sweet spot, fair for BOTH sides. Makes me quite happy that others think same

A side question, but can anyone tell me what the correct terms for " bunker " and " tank " are? a lot of ppl mix them and i dont want to be preaching stuff thats false.

The way i heard it:

Bunker = survival + team support. Ex. bunker guards, with clerics amulet. Role is to be in the team fight

Tank = survival + damage/+CC. Ex. Hambow warriors, with soldier amulet. Role is to switch with guard on mid , as
1) the guard is needed in the teamfight
2) they have damage to actualy kill attacker
3)they are “tanky” enough to not die fast, should they mess up or under 2v1 attack

Edit: I ask cz, necro can build for tank (minions / spectrals often with soldier) or bunker/team-support with wells and stability. To know which role OP is asking for.

spectral armor works with speed runes, just depends on what ur lacking. if u misplace urself the armor could save u, but the walk has more uses with its jukes (Line of sight, scouting far, ledge jumping, and the most funny one- shadowstep stomp with wurm).

Note armor will reduce 33% of dmg (only power), the walk can reduce 100% with a good line of sight juke.

Edit: i personaly dont miss the lyssa cleanse. offhand dagger is amazing. u do need to compensate the stabilty loss with better movement

xerrex has some good power necro videos on twitch, and you can ask anything when hes streaming.

leeto dagger power builds is also top, just different playstyle, more allround.

The guys from But of corpse have a few almost t1 builds( youtube/soacgaming , video around 30), if youre a lowr rank player they might work even better for you.

Both power and condi work best if you get a group on TS, necro needs team support. If u dont like skyhamer, u can also solo in teamq quite good, just have an alt prepared if 2+ warrs/decap clown

edit: and nemesis (youtube/iamoneandiamlegion) has basicaly whole necro cowered. PvE mostly, with wvw and tpvp parts too.

The traitline is very fitting, it gives and improves proffesion mechanic -DS and DS is used as defensive and offensive mechanic in power builds.

The problem is, that death and blood (toughnes and hp) line are sooooo bad, that its a better defense for condi necros, who also have worse LF regen, to just also go into SR for more Life force.
The right direction would be to make 15 with siphons give u as much survival/ and more sustain, as the 15 spectral armor from soul reaping.

So NO, and even if it was a good idea, such a drastic rework wont happen.

0.5 s – the top limit, with excpecting like a heal. Its not easy at all to necro wh#4 (0.5s cast) interupt a guardian block heal (1s heal , 2s block)

0.75 s – can be done , though more often its a random stuff flying around interupt

1.0 s – can be reliably done

I main (mostly power) necro, thief being a good alt.

Yes, two opposites. On necro, I get countered cz of no stability and main defensive move DS#3 cant fear during evade. I have to purely relly on my team to help me if thief overextends, rezzes mostly dont work cz blind or cleave. Offtopic, but why cant DS refil to 10-20% out of combat? Respawning with 0% makes u a sitting duck, only adding to snowball effect.

OK, now my thief PoV. Its the traits and sword#2 (and lyssa -.-). I only started performing as good as on main when i switched to meta 10/30/0/0/30. Free backstab every 20s + all other good stuff. Why is sword/dagger easier with same traits&everything? The sword#2. It removes punishment for overextending in teamfights. Unlimited get-out-of-jail card.

Like d/p is lately also 3-spam ( 3-11-3-11…) for the blinds but on sword u get both gap-closer and a even better retreat.

IDEA: Maybe shorter range on sword#2 retreat, like 600 ? And smaller cost for attack but bigger for retreat?

Basicaly anything with “unlimited” escapes.
PU mesmer, thief stealth regen, GS warior with stupidity signet. The stealth is a problem of gamemode, only reason pvp is considered balanced and fun is because capture points force poeple away from this in-out with regen-hp play.

Anything with perplexity runes.
Even without the brokenly OP runes, many condi builds are too strong 1v1 with their condition spam, while being tanky. They dont have escapes for 1v3+ like above builds, but they have such condiburst, that in 1v2 , they kill 1 person before they even got to 50% , heal, and its 1v1 with 70% hp. easy to win as a conditank.

The 1st is gamemode side-effect, the 2nd is overall class/item balance problem. Hope it cleared u up

Even if you breakstun and you go out of range the pistolwhip still hits you for at least 5k?!

God, you must have a hard time finding either :

1) your F1 key
2) Flesh Wurm key
3) the Spectral Walk key

or even 4) the Spectral Walk return because you planned that the thief would teleport.

Also you are probably glass if you take that much damage while running away, which means you still have over 20k hp. Could be worse, and you deal 4-5k with your #1 Death Shroud so I fail to see how you can complain either way (condi or glass).

Basically, my understanding of your thread is : please make my class more op so I don’t have to get better to fight other strong classes. Funny.

1) How about removing the stun? cz if u remove the evades its all back to s/d which isnt much different. A fast animation and evades, but forcing u to take the immobilize utility and teleport to get dmg off.

Your 2nd update was best imo. Zerker amu + speed runes combo. 24k hp is just enough, you get the crit.dmg back and the movement helps us alot. Both in melee and when running.

The top 50 is more a class issue. Youll die eventualy, unlike shad, who if u let him with 3hp will come and kill u back in a 1v2 Its just a class mechanic and untill u actualy gain some hp back in DS its just a matter of time. You win if enemy overextends

Im a bit worse player, but just to give my share:
-even though i criticized it (still do), i go with spectral pull over corrupt boon. temple& khylo at least.
-the DS recharge + stabilty (+weaknes shroud) works good on zerker, since u got enough dmg anyway. On barb amu, the added crit chance is a must since youll be camping in DS sooner or later

I just glimpsed all the leaks, but THE TORCH !! It scares me to death. Its like elementalist heal and good ones who know when to use it are godly. Dont you think think its so OP, especialy considering that unlike the ele chanel, ur dealing DPS around autoatack?

Again, Im not trying to advocate condi necro. But this looks like a huge power creep. The game needs remowed condi spam and added condi sustain, not cleansing-spam new meta.

I think your going from wrong direction. Well never have siphon,minion,power,condi = 4x types of necro great in 3 different parts of game (pve,pvp,wvw), each with diferent stages, level or size of play. And thats for any class.

What is ask you is more what part of game do you play?

the build is going crazy on everything from #25-90%. Games and sports where u know the winner are boring, not fun. Its like a 4v5. 9ppl complain at end. If by some chance you still defend this decap abomination, it must be:

a) you are one of 2 best teams on the continent, equiped with TS, extraordinary skills and 1-2 wariors

b) you are decap engie yourself. anet stealth-patched matchmaking, cz youre finaly wining 80% even though u solo in teamQ.

Warriors are too good, but not because of anything you proved in an experiment with some average-ish D/P backstabber. A competent P/D condition Thief would have beaten you up and taken your lunch money. That fight either ends with the Warrior 1) dying, or 2) running away.

They are scaling back Healing Signet some. That will help.

Well the average human is an idiot, in the world as in any guildwars gamemode. So giving any (preferably PvE guy) a build that is the strongest and easy to play is super bad, since they will spread like a plague. And they already are, 2 is min, 4 warrs in a random tourny is almost normal.
Like the only ones who try warrior and quit, are actualy players who feel disgusted by it.

Dont know why u bring p/d thief up in a balance discussion. Its a troll build which cant die but doesnt affect bigger score of wvw, and a build which shouldnt die but loses too much time off-point for it to be worth sending in pvp.

Are you joking? DS is probably the most powerful class mechanic of all of them, and by a good margin. Necros already have the highest hp in game, and DS scales with it giving you absolutely massive effective hp, and great sustain too when using a power build with dagger and spectral utilities. It’s almost trivial to keep up life force with such a setup… enemies will burst your ds down, then you pop spectral armor (and heal to recover your main bar) and you’re almost immediately half full of lf again.

On top of that, the damage from +50% crit chance life blast (plus might and vuln stacks) is probably the best ranged sustained damage in game. And 4 and 5 do great aoe damage… and you have an instant cast fear… and teleport with chill (one of the best conditions in game). I’ll take that on any class, any day.

Exactly, its an old problem, especialy lately as DS is getting fixes.

1v1 a full 100% at start is A LOT. too much to be called fair, especialy in builds who can generate almost another LF bar during the fight. It can force a warrior on short retreat.

But 1v1 a zero 0% LF is a huge hindrance. You cant absorb 1-shots, so its just unfair ur a sitting duck.

The cumunity would trade a DS reduced to 80% but now auto-regenrates to 10-20% anytime, it would make necros more stable and easier to balance. But we you know how much they listen and how much they act.

I think the true problem of engi: There is no other competition build for him. (And that kittening game mode).

Last but not least: Decap engi isn’t in all competition teams, but Guardian and Warrior.
Again, why is Engi op (and not in all teams), but no teams can play without Guardion and Warrior?

In short: its too effective. Only top25 players can deal with it due to them being exceptionaly good, great TS coordination and them themselves running something even more OP.

Guardian being a must is a core problem since launch. It is the side effect of the game mode. But it does never wreck games, actualy making games interesting. It is viewed as not OP, the cumminty actualy wishes other classes could be in same spot, for the bunker/team-support.

Warior is OP. Everyones about to throw up on the thought of them, but cant since they got nothing left after half a year. So comparing anything to a warior is not a good direction for the game. And even warrs have trouble with the decap spec.

The goal is to tone down the survival of decaper, so it has viable risks in 1v1 and dies in a “normal time” 1v2.
Any ideas/buffs for compensation are welcome, just stop the childish ignorance towards this problem.

1) Nerf to condi, nerf/buff to others, buff to warr. 40% now play warr

2) No. Added a new heal skill, signet of vampirism. Was a fail, not even worth unlocking.

3) Yes. IMO at least. They fixed team #1-5 vs team #6-10. So now both sides have equaly good/bad players. A great improvement, should be like this from start.
You can still get that one r10 noob if you play at non peak hours, but thats more problem of low population which cant be fixed and your rating.

4) Some do, some dont. Being pro is more proven on the ESL weeklys and by others acknowledging you. We all know you can fall low/high on boards, let ur gameplay speak for itself.

5) Id say no atm. In a month theres a balance patch, but its just useless small stuff. Theyre changing all runes and sigils, so that might change but OP skill/traits will be left till summer.
Build templates are an idea but not confirmed yet.
The issue you described cant be solved, since unranked matches = hotjoin. You can however just play for fun and since teamQ doesnt have skyhamer/spirit map, #200-90% of teamQ ladder is 2/3 of solo players. So if you fall into this category, u can play soloQ here and then for fun while actualy more playing teamQ. Youll get more rank point reward too.

Now for what you can do. This works only with shadow, bone fiend and golem minions. I suggest going for 2 only since for all 3 u need to b fast and 10% LF is not worth risking being stuck with a utility u dont need.

1) put shadow minion on ur #7 slot

2) wait for 10s countdown before game start

3)press 7 to sumon minion

4) press the arrow above #7 to swap utility. this will “kill” the minion and give you 10% LF

5) the select 2nd minion
6) summon him

7) Final: select the utilty u want.

You and all other necros around u now have 20% LF. Dont rely on others since 9/10 necros dont do this, unlike 9/10 eles who do try to make up their existence with the 1min swiftness

Edit: Is this onetime 20% LF OP? yes, its broken, I kill 3 wariors and any planet or star alligned with my lifeblasts.

3x staff = 3,9s , 2x dagger chain is also around 4s.

Is it fair to not being able to acces 5 of your proffesions and defense mechanic skill for first 4s of a fight? No.

Since damage overflows to normal hp, do we even need a 10% limit? No.

Does arenanet have any plans to balance or actualy fix this nonsense? No, because there are other areas where were too strong and therefore we dont deserve anything thats a buff.

Back to topic, we all had problems as new pvp against mesmers. Its a matter of time untill spoting the real one becomes a reflex.

Only thing that theres no counter to is PU mesmer cz of too much stealth. A good mesmer can CC you around on necro, but you can kill him back too, so its fair.

Why are people hoarding chests?

a) 250x chests take 1 slot. Just the useless 1k powder i have takes up 4.

b) Its a waste of glory. 200 glory for salvaging to get stuff/materials u already have dozens of.

c) It actualy takes time to open them . For 250x chests about 1-hour, depending on your clicking, mouse and mental state.

why? Unless they grow a backbone and remove 8v8 hotjoin, i think the pvp is too small to be further splitted into 2 more ways. I chose the 3v3 over 2v2 for
-not hard to find 2 friends
-more chance for comeback/rezz.
2v2 is practicaly over when 1 goes down, 3v3 is still small enough to keep players in aggresive builds thus being interesting

Theres been a too much of a power creep last year. An interesting point was brought up by someone, that people psychologically accept buffs easier than nerfs. I hope you can gather the courage and make 2014 a nerf year.

IMO a good place to aim was spring/summer 2013. Only that instead of Incendary powder getting a nerf it became the (minimum) standard.

But of corpses bunker build flashes all-time for stability (plz buff it to 4sec so you can actualy get a stomp off ) and im trying on a variant of leetos d/d power necro with the stability flashing, just to “try to deal” with the abomination called decap engie.

This is more a problem of lag , your mouse or your nervousness :P not that it doesnt happen to me but the change would be bad, limiting our potential.
And it doesnt happen often, the 1-s utility delay would be soooo much nicer to be fixed first

I play power necro main, sometimes thief and warior as 3rd to try save a terrible setup. I prefer the boonstrip/CC of a mesmer over a thief, bacause it covers me on necro.

I think there are 2 kind of “lies” shown in the video:

  • 1) The average commercial lies- “Never say NO to a customer”.

Like at end, when swifty asked will if have additional skills to unlock? He was asking that cz he thought 20x utility skill to be very little and is probably in the grind-to-unluck-and-be-better WoW mentality.
But they Gw2 guy had to “wrap” the answer, by saying:
-YES. u will unlock. weapon skills. in PvE. all 5 of them and ull do it before lv20.

I dont mind such, cz launch is important and the questions can be asked in the wrong way, like here.

  • 2) The “black on white obvious , oh yes u did promise that” lies

Simply anything beyond the 3:00 timer. A lot of BASIC pvp features, which had to be requested for over half a year, and are being polished now, more than a year later. And some still missing and slow fixes. Im also counting WvW here as it is actualy pvp oriented yet is being treated as stupid casual pve.
Its simply a waste for a 3.000.000 playerbase to slip by or just sit in Lions Arch.

Lies and fake promises are definetly not acceptable. What we dont know is, if they had a choice in it. Probably owners got tired and rushed launch date, or simply decided to focus more on casual pve bears. Then thats a design and buisness decision that we must accept and respect. They SHOULD JUST MARKET IT AS THAT FROM THE START!

Offhand focus is for pure glass canons. Its for 2-point strategy, you need to stay at safer range and wipe whole team when 1 goes down.
It deals dmg and most important it gives LF. 12% LF means 1-2x extra hits = 4-8k dmg extra , while in an invincible state. The chill will 99% force a dodge. And all from range, i recomend the trait and scepter mainhand.
Example: xerrex/forsaker twitch videos

Offhand dagger is better for 3-point strategy = smaller fights = 2v2/1v1 scenarios. You need to be able to survive on point and for some time.
The #4 is the best skill, it gives a lot of survivability. You then take dagger mainhand for constant and reliable LF. The goal is to outlast your opponent with conditions transfered, dhuumfire works good for single target too, and a 40k+ healthpool firing strong autoatacks.

I wouldnt take the axe (even in MM builds) in any case, but if u do, NEVER take the axe trait over chill of death. Hope you find what suits you

If some1 has 20k hp, half is 10k. 8.000 + 20% = 9.600
So Colse to Death = +2k dmg

Dhuumfire – ticks 2-3x 330 = +1k dmg every 10s

Leetos with d/d = a more allround , able to 1v1 -here dhuum is better and most important *reliable" dmg , better for top100 pvp where u must play on 3 points with constant but smaller fights 2v2 or 3v3

Classis zerker with 2x wells (scepter/focus) = better for 100-500 matches, better in the 4v4+ midfight, ull be cowered there and you can wipe whole teams. There u need the burst for 50-0 oneshots and its aoe, while burn would be single target and can proc on a stupid pet. 1v1 is hard though, even with full DS bar

Basicaly, the system is pretty sure that the #7 guys is a very good player. He played a lot of matches and was always at the top. So he wont lose as much, even though he lost to some1 far worse.

Poeple ALWAYS come up with “decap guard” . OK, what does he got?
-40s shield CD , basicaly unavoidable – effective on mid kyhlo
-25s Hammer CD , but has 1s cast , launch can be stun-broken
-will die 1v1 eventualy

What does decap engie have?
-15s CD on rifle , INSTANT
-15s CD on flamethrower, INSTANT
-CONDITION IMMUNITY and 3s block on 16s CD for survival , 1v1 u wont kill him , 2v1 it just takes too much time/manpower

I kinda dislike that the AA dps = 3# dps.

On shortbow when you evade , you are losing offense. If im not mistaken, lacerator strike even makes the dps slightly higher than AA.

Id give it back the 2 boonstrip , but lower the dmg.

Or how was old s/d thief which used CnD with blinds/daze ? Could it be balanced?

Lost 2-3 today , with the decaper team always wining. But we all knew that, heres somethign new:

I specced for 40% stability on necro, I had waterfall (fence helps a lot) , I had good and fast thief who could finish him , I once kill him solo , once even hold for +2min with holding point for us, I can say played perfectly landing my interupt and currupts. We lost 330-333 due to a last second stomp and him also getting a 1s decap about 50s
before end. Mid was never held. Good game , not knowing the winner till last second is what makes games/sports interesting

Now the question , aside that we lost/had equaly close match even with the stars alligning for me, is:

Do you now small-cat-ing see how “effective” this is? HOW BIG the point loss is?

I know such games on legacy aint nothing new and I love close games ending with timer , I just cant see designing 15-minute matches to end score at 60%.
