Dee Jay, condi-engineer is still pretty hard-countered by necros, who heal more while clearing condis on consume condis, and have 2-3 condi transfers.

Besides necros, engineers seem to have the upper-hand in almost every other fight. The new capability to take extra on-swap or on-crit sigils to improve condi-spread, combined with balthazar runes that turn IP into a 7s proc make them absolute BEASTS (7s burning guaranteed to apply every 10s is also OP as anything, combined with the kiting ability engies have vs. power builds).

Decap bunker engies also seem to be stronger now, and simply can’t be killed with power builds. However, necro is still the solution, it seems. Maybe some new builds could give them trouble, but it looks like you either bring a necro or are at a severe disadvantage.

Maybe generosity sigil will help?

So what you all are saying is engi kills everything right? necro kills engi right? Doesnt this mean necro is the real problem here and not eng? Do you even listen to yourselves? Necro has same condi spam plus twice as much HP. Wake up guys and stop complaining about something all the time just because you have been killed by someone. You cannot have 1 build to beat every build.
I say necro is far more dangerous than engi. Also try to hit moving/evading target with grenade. Go on try it.

Using your logic. I don’t how you came with : A kills BCD, E kills A. Therefore, E is broken. What kind of argument is that?

I ll explain it just for you then. A is condi spam, E is condi spam, A meets E and E wins, meaning E is more dangerous condi spam with twice as much HP. Is this logic enough for you now? Good.

1) against good players, it is useless. A 1.30s fire rate can mean it take 5 seconds before you actualy hit some1, in this time u wasted DS as your defense AND you didnt apply any other conditions so youre also wasting DPS

2) Against bad players, its still annoying to hit just cz of the clones/pets flying around

3) It is gated behind DS, something you start without with… Hopefuly this can now get adressed

4) Youre blowing your actualy small suply of life force as condi necro, just to get the deeps to scratch a hambot

5) The new curses GM feels like ok trade and it looks ok from design pov, moving condi necros into condi trees.

6) My personal only, may change ofc: I cant find a logical rotation for it. i know its just 2 days, just saying

Any power build has some crit. Any condi build has “enough” crit, just to get the cheezprocs.

Only bunkers (altough dont forget even cleric guard with scpeter#2 got the vigor prety often) are left out, but theyre not something that is meant to kill u.

I think the 3second thing is a bug. All similiar trait like our DS 3x vuln or thief 1x condition /3s of stealth all work IMMEDIATELY at start and again every 3s. Like thief loses 2 condi if he stealth once for 3s.

Still its lackluster, should be AOE, and i still dont know which trait i should give up for it in a bunker build (wells recharge or 1k heal on DS)

Ignore this, is just “cunstructive” part so post isnt deleted:
Soul Reaping 15 already is best defense as it gives a lot of life force. protection is nice and rarely u even get a free stunbreak, but the about +30% life force is just best survival option currently.
Instead of Death ALSO giving extra life force, not mentioning the laughably big difference in amount they give, how about some actual defense:

-CC is necro killer. not fun to play or be against. If you just recycle the fear on CC trait into this 15 trait, boom, suddenly going into defensive traitline may make you actualy live 1x CC burst longer.

-Or remove condition on DS, and make it 2x conditions. Before you say OP,OP, its better to remove conditions out of play than having a hot potato transfer fest with generosity. MAIN REASON though: it would be used as escape from IMMOBILIZE STACKING.

Just 2 thoughts, which are already in game, so you dont have work or waste any workhours with whoever the designer of this was.

Anet shafted us on the crafting.

I spent all my glory, opened my chests, and has 2000+ arcane powder with NO GLORY TO BUY CONSUMABLE TOKENS OR ITEM TOKENS.

Yup, been saying this for a month, but they decided otherwise.

Again, for those saying you saved, you actualy did it wrong and got lucky. They gave a 1000h pvp = 300gold in wintersday, when it was specificaly announced that glory will be removed.
After that it was still NOT WORTHY buying consumable tokens, heck i even destroyed a few chects stacks, just cz there was no salvage kits to buy.

Now i got 250x slivers , but no 50k glory for tokens

I personally almost never see Hambow Warriors in WvW. I don’t think it’s nearly mobile enough for people to want to grab it in most cases, but maybe that just happens to be how the servers I play against have landed. Other groups might be different.

Fun vid, Leeto. Are you running full Zerk, or do you have some Cavalier in there for that vid?

EDIT – The more I think about it, the more I really want to try running double-dagger instead of dagger+focus. I lose the potential Focus #4 burst and the boon clear, but I think the weakness and additional condi drop/blind could be worth it. I might even feel better about dropping Plague Signet for some more mobility. Will have to dabble.

I reached leaderboard rank 64 in TeamQ nearly a month ago on my engineer with a full turret power build. It’s my firm belief that engineer is actually the easiest class to master, although with a relatively high skill floor, and here’s why:

  • Kits – With no cooldown, an engineer is able to use one skill in a kit, swap to another kit or their main weapon set, and continue fighting scott-free. Unlike elementalist, there’s no punishment for cycling your kits too fast, and you’re actually encouraged through traits to swap kits constantly. This leads to the spamming of skills without much need to put thought into what you’re using, other than having a ‘generalized’ grasp on combat.
  • PBAoE – Engineer has far too much PBAoE for a conquest-based PvP format. Between bomb kit, grenade kit, toolkit, turret detonates and elixer throws, engineer by far has the absolute most offensive and defensive AoEs of any class, and can shotgun them at his feet on a whim, making kiting the only viable option for defeating them, and even at that point Grenade Kit has both the condition damage, direct damage, and soft CC to deal with even the peskiest of off-point burst mesmers.
  • Condition Spam – ANet’s initial vision was for necromancer to be the condition class, however engineer has far surpassed the conditions output of the necro with the constant spamming of PBAoE fields and the ability to spam shuffle through their kits without punishment. This combined with the horribly imbalanced condition meta makes the engineer both tanky and have high damage output.
  • Healing Output – Healing Turret blasted into its own water field after the initial pulse of healing has a higher HPS than warrior’s base healing signet/adrenal health/regeneration combo, and adds regeneration on top of that healing.
  • Automated Response – This trait is entirely too powerful, and I’m ecstatic it’s getting nerfed. Running a Barbarian’s Amulet and jewel, I’m easily and comfortably able to maintain myself in the 1k-6.5k health range that is 25% of my 26k health, and more often than not a fight would be easier, even running only Healing Turret as my sole source of condition removal. Fights involving even two condition classes (say, a condi engie and condi necro) would last far longer than it would take for my team to reach far point and help me out, and eventually push the opposing side from their home point with my health still in tact.
  • CC – This one’s a big point. Running my full turret build with rifle and APT, I had 6 sources of knockbacks/launches and one stun at my fingertips, and one of these CC skills always available even with the other 6 on cooldown when rotating correctly. This is a stretch since most engineer builds don’t have quite this much CC, but even when not investing into turrets they’ve got rifle, flamethrower, toolkit, APT (healing turret), and Supply Crate for 5 total CC skills while maintaining their survivability and gaining the benefits of kits and conditions, as well as mass AoEs as per mentioned earlier.

The engineer is, by far, the easiest class to master. The issue is that many people don’t play engineer because it’s hard to get into, but once you learn the rotations and what each skill does, you’ve essentially already mastered the class. Running a build like Teldo’s Bomb Build with heavy conditions only makes you look like a better player than you actually are due to the extremely forgiving nature of the class.

Great summary, this are exact problems i run into against engies.

I find ALL their weapon and kit cooldowns very short, promoting the spam. No meant personal, I would make their CDs longer, cooldown on kit swapping would break them probably, but increase the other utilitys and their tool-belt counterparts.

Also the instant-cast stuff should be reduced globaly…

2) Necro only.

a) Same, put life force to 0% at 0s.

b) Actual necro problem, please listen and do it this way.

  • 100% LF is too much for 1v1 , and not much in teamfights anyway
  • 0% LF IS A DISASTER FOR NECRO
  • GIVE NECRO AUTO-REFIL LF TO 10-20% OUT OF COMBAT , but lower max LF to about 80-90% of current max if needed

Necro life force is now easier for new/non-veteran mechanic abusing player, more CONSTANT and EASIER TO BALANCE, GRATZ!!

  • 1-5th the “named” teams who need no introduction are in automaticaly
  • 6-16th are in on average rating on the ladderboards
  • All other have to fight untill we have 16 left ( spot 17-32nd).

Possibility of expanded brackets was already mentioned in the Anet post, its same in other sports.

Just for the guys saying the +/- evens out, the +/- condi duration is bugged or the formula is written a way so:

1) it first calculates outgoing condi duration
2) then aplies the -% of whole duration on user

Result is
a) 100+40% and -100% condi stance = 0 conditions not 40%
b) or 100+40% and -40% like wvw food = 84% conditions not 100%

I have no idea how they could implement that into the mechanics, but the bigger the -duration, the stronger it is. At -100% it doesnt matter, you could have +100000% duration and it would be completely negated.

3) The autoatack bounce is just bad luck sry. There are many profesions, builds, weapon sets so 1 will always be preffered in some scenarios. Ele has similiar bounce while necro has no actual cleave. + any zerker vs zerker is gonna hurt, I think if the evasivnes was adressed it would be enough to prevent a thief kiting you to death with 1-3-1-3-1-3

In perfect scenarios youl fire a epidemic every 20 seconds. If you just take asciis wvw builds you have a reliable damage burst every 30s seconds. Or go like nemesis, full glass and pierce stuff to death with lich and ds#1 autos. The bigger the zerg, the more power is better, especialy if theres skill lag

First, dhhumfire will proc on Life Blast, not on Life Blast crit (http://dulfy.net/2014/01/17/gw2-ready-up-skill-and-balance-developer-livestream-notes/), you only need to land it one time to make it proc (and they could do that while the ennemy is feared or immobilized).

1)They lost 1 bleed on the bleed mark, are there other nerfs?

2)They lost weakness duration but they have +30% duration via the first traitline and weakness was buffed, hence the duration nerfs.

3)Fear damage was basically a loss of 70 damage…fear still does 1k damage PER TICK (it can do 2 or 3k).

4)Yes, necros can’t have greater unblockable marks but they still have access to many unblockable skills (corrupt boon, #2 DS, Lich auto attack, wells). Their marks got buffed in the process too so that the greater marks trait is unnecessary. Pretty much every condi necro is still running Terror which is only at 20 points in the condi traitline, not that much of a big deal. Btw, if you recall, they moved Terror at 20 points and moved Greater Marks so that people couldn’t get GM and Terror..But then they gave up on Greater Marks thanks to the marks being buffed, and they were able to get their hands on http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Master_of_Terror at 20 points in Soul Reaping (more fear ticks, so more damage). So yes, nerfs resulting in a buff.

5)Huge buffs to other classes condi removal? what are you refering to? I mean it’s about that time that ele got an ICD on cleansing water and that cleansing fire got nerfed, nothing has changed as far as engineer is concerned (traduction : still is a free kill for necros), nothing for thief either if I’m not mistaken, nothing for guardian…please explain.

6)The addition of sigils that buff condi removal in the next patch may prove to be a little issue for all condi players, not just necros. Since I don’t see any other justified point and this one is hardly important, I don’t get why necros would suck.

I just don’t get it.

1) 1x bleed on staff#2, 1x bleed on dodge mark + 1x bleed on traited weakness shroud so less bleed bursting which was actual skillplay, 1x bleed on scepter #2 -pvp only

2) The weaknes was OP, but nerfed hard. It is wrong logic starting with base 30% condi duration and god forbid the DS-recharge perfect scenario, because it only forces condispam instead of stack and pushes condi necros into useless tree.

3) 17% of +1k dmg is trivial, the nerf back then had 0 effect. I just wnt a moral victory of them admitting a mistake

4) It is a 10 trait points buff, but it removed the unblockables and most imporatant, reduced AoE dmg by a lot, youre avoiding 3k bleeds every 6s now in a teamfight

5) Idk any specific, but theyre logic last 9 months was bringing condi removal up. Lyssa is finaly getting nerfed so im neutral here

6) Will see what new stuff is brought to all classes

But with current knowledge, theorycrafting, condi necro will be weak. Im all for removal of condi spam, just as long engie IP and bomb/nades are next, spirits should dissapear and the warior bow could have a smaller radius.

As said before, there are 2 ways u can go:

-full burst with 2x wells and lich, prefer scepter/focus for ranged reliable dmg&LF… its fun, but needs others in team to have tanky support roles and limits you to 2 node strategies

-a more deathshroud, self sustainable based path… basicaly leetos d/d … its more alround so its as good as you are… its getting nerfed a bit but so are the main OP specs… best looks and most fun for power necro veterans

i dont care about the current inflated dye prices (blue), Im saying that there was NEVER a worthy way to make pvp dyes. I mean pvp rewards went like this:

1) nothing….. lots of glory, matts and chests u cant spend

2) 1,5-years later…. dungeon/cult armor for glory
and random (unlimited rank) items for mystery coffers

3) 2 weeks later… WINTERSDAY…. most of everyones glory was spent here, it was their workaround for retroactive rewards, since they said theyll remove glory —-→ gold.

4) End of wintersday…. At this time, I was STILL DESTROYING 250x of chests, cz It was not worth 200 glory salvage kit vs. remaining armor, lvl books or even random coffer.

5)Recently…. Salvage kit for copper… great ….. finaly salvaged through my last chests, only with no way to gain glory or any other method to use the materials

1) there has never been a time where it was glory-efficient to buy consumable tokens at 200 glory

2) Same a with kits, they were used for nothing cz many didnt even buy kits. Now you could give this items a last use

After the good-vs-bad team fix, they ARE working, only problem is totally new players are still put too high at 50%.
What killing the boards is ZERO rewards, so no one is actually trying and bad balance, which causes low population.

Anyway, GREAT news, a more lively mists map will be awesome for finding new pvp friends and showing off some skins.

… and maybe hopefuly the passive proc bonus -.-

… or rather move the #4 bonus to #6 , (its already too stronk but who cares) , and leave interupts alone, theyre annoying and powerful by themselves, no need for halting strikes and similiar stuff

also make the activation time 0.50 seconds instead of 0.75 seconds.
the projectile speed is fine.

LOL the skill is practiacaly undodgeable at close range / normal node size. Realy, put all the stun and immobilize aside, you cant dodge it by red-circle as it is already too late then.

Useless rewards that, turn into even more useless stuff, that you have to spend hours of just clicking through…

If the problem isnt solved, as elegantly as salvage kits for few copper, then it would have been better for them to say a few months ago:

“hey, the chests u have are worth 0, and the stuff it gives will be remowed. Just destroy them when u have 250x , dont bother with it.”

I think this isnt the right approach, again, we got some gold and kins for glory, let us have some colours for playing and winning tournament matches.

Anet have already answered this, all those excess material will vanish, be deleted on the 15.4.14.

All skins will be moved to the new wardrobe, from wherever they are now, so you can access them whenever you want, but after use charges to apply your look. Those charges are going to be fairly easy to aquire by doing the new reward system.

Everyone has had plenty of notice on all of this 3-6 months, its your own fault if you did nothing…

How is it my fault?

Consumable tokens always costed 200 glory , it was non-economic spending the glory to make

glory + blue powder = non-sellable dye

when you could spend 90% of your glory for gifts at the time, then the rest which u made later on was better spent on some 20x lv-up books or mystic coffers.

I have several 1000x powder and 250x sliver , but cant buy the consumable tokens. *It was same with salvage kits, during events it was WASTE of MONEY to salvage at , so you just didnt open chest or destroyed 99% of it. Please allow us to make use of the materials we SPENT HOURS CLICKING.

Again, briliant idea. think how many poeple do some wvw just cz of the jumping puzzle.
And every minute a PvEer spends somewhere else, not farming cofp1, is good for economy of gold…. which is soon global currency… its a win-win situation

OMG. I cant believe i never thought of a PvP jumping puzzle. This sounds like a great idea:

a)brings more poeple into mists
b) something to do during que , team-forming

If you make, please let it be over the rocks in the middle, so that you will see poeple failing and falling to their pancake death of shame.

This patch is a dream .

Just one thing.

Perplexity runes.

And this.

Best looking steps for the game, just nerf/remove perplexity in the next month to not stain the hard work done.

I was most surprised at them pulling out other nerfs to the meta builds, especialy PW and decap engie, considering it normaly takes them 6 months.

All thanks to Grouch. Made a thread, read the data, saw the pattern and nerfed his own class, all in 3 days.

Lots of great work, I wont feel ashamed anymore recomending Gw2 PvP to my friends.

Ok, constructive mode launched.

1) Which runeset did you compare it to? there is nothing close to the OP-ness of perplexity….Nightmare 6x bonus = 1s fear on 90s ICD and IT IS STRONG , perplexity is just bull

2) Why does this runes get 2x bonuses, each stronger than any other 6th ?

3) Remove the interupt and make is just a random on hit, basicaly nightmare set, but with confusion

4) OR, nerf all number down by another 100-200%….. Consider the 30% condi duration + duration of this set

If its just 1stack its already another cover condition, but the stacks are so stronk, its basicaly a stun

5) It is NOT opening new builds. IT IS the build. Why not make 9th class, “the Perplexitor” then?

1) you nerfed a too strong rune by 30%

2) you SHOULD have nerfed it by 200%

200% > 30%

In my country, this is 11year old math. Dont be offended, you still have 24-days to learn 3rd grade calculus , correct the values and everything will be ok.

Im a main pvper, but ive done all the dungeon storys at the begining of my gw2 career.

I was totaly against it, thinking if its clear to see from achievements, why the hell do i need to do it again?

Now that you said it, most PvP guys dont and it would be a 99% unfair start for PvEers. Fully support it and great thinking of whoever thought this through.
