[Discussion] Lack of Skimpy Male Armor

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Gryphon.2875

Totally agree! I would love to see more sexier armor for male characters!
Warriors got the most (which is pretty few) hottest armors! I just love when they’re showing off their abs, arms and legs.

I’ve seen a thread like this a few times before and one person posted an alternative version of Human T3 medium armor for a Male character of the female set…
Looks really nice! I’ll see if I’ll find it.

The legs from the Profane armor set really shows how nice the human male butt looks like We need more armors to show off their butts.

Edit: Ah! I found the alt version of the male T3 armor.

OMFG I want that T3 version. Now. Anet. Make. Happen. Please. Yes. Want. Much.

+ 1000000 to the OP. I’ve made similar threads in the past.

There’s several skimpy male NPC outfits that could be opened up to PCs.
There’s the Tribal Outfit. Bring it BACK!
Reinment of the Lich would be great if you could disable the shoulders and arms.

Oh and let’s not forget what Anet already designed in GW1.

Gryphon.2875

And to the one above did you really solo gw1 that would mean no npc helpers.

I did it with no PC helpers then :P However, I did all the Prophecies and Factions “missions” before there were any such thing as Heroes, with only the horrible AI Henchies as support.

Point is, you should be able to do the current dungeons at your own pace, as I did in GW1, either alone, or with NPCs.

They recognized the need for this in GW1, which is why they added Heroes with NF and EotN, and then Merc Registration to convert your own alts into Heroes.

The playerbase is already divided. On the one hand you have your elitists, on the other, everyone else. It also has another division as well. Pvp and Pve players. Every MMO is like this. Has been since I first started playing them.

Which is why Anet itself made GW1 playable for either type of player. What we’re saying is that it would be nice for them to do it again.

GW1 had its issues. But, it did and still does have advantages over GW2.

When I was first reading about Ebonhawke way back I was SO hopeful there would be open PvP against the Charr as we try to hold them back, and even reclaim the Ascalonian homeland. I still occasionally go back to GW1 just to go north of the Wall and decimate the Charr forces out there.

I actually refused to do the one heart quest in the Charr homeland that has you help to destroy the wall, when I came across that heart I was literally angry. I did eventually get it done by doing events nearby though.

Scarlet didn’t take a realistic time to build the Breachmaker or the Kessex Flower Tower. So at the very least cleaning up the rubble would not be unrealistic in the face of that precedent. And I am more than ready to go beyond mere cleanup and get on with (gasp!) rebuilding.

their artists can either draw you new maps like silverwastes or they can redraw old maps like la

they dont have enough manpower or budget for both

which do you pick?

Well that’s a bit presumptuous and ridiculous. Have you attended some company manpower and budget meetings? Or are you just saying the first thing that came into your head in order to post something negative?

This company is geared towards releasing new content every two weeks. And despite the fact that they know their work will often be gone in a short time, they have still managed to produce some very nice settings. I have every faith that they can do this, and I wouldn’t be a bit surprised to hear that they already have “New LA” mostly ready to be deployed.

Between the Megaserver and the physical loss of Tyria’s social center, the game is darker and lonelier than ever. We need a bright spot for morale’s sake.

Why is exotic gear so easy to get ?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Gryphon.2875

i guess my friends were right, this game is fun untill 80, then it just flattens out so hard.

That’s a funny statement, everyone that i know and plays gw2 thinks the opposite, the game is terrible boring until you are lvl 80.

We don’t play to get gear (that would feel like a job :\), we play because IT’S FUN. Of course some player’s goal is to get X reward, either legendary items or such, but most of us just play because we like to play it. We like to smash enemies in WvsW, or we like to kill dragons like Tequatl in an organized teamspeak with 50 more friends, or we like to go to the new maps and defend the castles against mordrems like if was an Age of Empires game for 1 hour.

I hope you understand my point. Most MMOs makes you “work” to get your desired items, GW2 instead let’s you get them easier so you can enjoy playing. This game offers a lot of activities, I made a post in the spanish forum a few days ago listing all what you can do at level 80… the list is really long. If you think that you have nothing to do just because you have your gear, then please go back to WoW or other MMOs that force you to “have this equipment or gtfo”. This is GW2, this is different!

[QUESTION] Tribal armor

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Gryphon.2875

Gryphon.2875

Tribal armor (labeled as masquerade for pve, but was a different armot altogether in pvp) disappeared from being acquired when the wardrobe patch hit. There was no hint it was being removed, or notification at all this armor would disappear. If it was mentioned it was going to be removed, like the fuse weapons etc, I can understand, but there was nothing.

Is there any chance this armor can make a comback, be it rewards path, or mystic forge again? Even for a short time, it was just unfair to remove without notification.

Limited time availability only works well if your entire potential market always has and will have had access to the item. For example, video games. If a game has a limited edition, odds are that your entire potential market will have access to buy that limited edition because they don’t need to be a member of a certain thing to see it. Any person can go in off the street to a store to order it.

If portions of your potential market may have only become a part of your market after the limited item has already left but they would definitely buy it when they see other people that have it, then it’s actually bad marketing to deny them that ability to purchase it.

Or if you didn’t know about an outfit, like the Tribal Armor, until after it was gone…

Hello,
I completely agree.

I like to play at my pace (read: at ease) and my pace does not fit 99,9% of people. Especially people doing dungeons.

That said I read people telling they could solo some dungeons (if not all) so I decided to give it a try.

Yesterday I did Ascalon and managed it. I soloed Ascalon in 1 hour. I died 2-3 times but as repair and portal are free that is fine.
After this I was a bit motivated. So today I tried the next one: Caudecus … and managed it as well. I also needed 1 hour but died 4-5 times. My guildmates told it was a good performance.

I will try other dungeons going up in difficulty.
Anyway, if at least story mode would scale to the group, that would be great.
Of course, it would be even better if the different paths would be scaled as well.

During some events there were small dungeons, I remember one in the snow area which I did almost everyday. It was nice. I would gladly do that again.

I soloed most of the story mission zones in GW1 and its expansions. Would love to be able to the same with dungeons here, at least in story mode.

As for armor. Depends on what you want to be doing. If your planning on being surrounded by mordrem id go ahead and take a Knights set. With a necros base high health pool we benefit alot from toughness and nights lets you make plenty of crits and high power damage. MMs especially so. If your going to be focusing on dungeons later on though. Well the current meta is zerker or bust. However ever since ive switched to knights ive found myself being ALOT more effective when actually playing as an MM Necro as apposed to just another generic dpser.

I run Knights as well, with a DS / MM setup, and Staff. I’m usually the last one standing, and, while my minions are continuing the fight, I’m rezzing everyone else…

Gryphon.2875

There are a lot of fortresses now in the Silver Wastes that I don’t remember being in GW1 at all. But since in GW1 it was a jungle, I suppose you could explain it away by saying that the deforestation revealed these ancient structures underneath the jungle. It still doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. But with a new game you can expect them to add new stuff that isn’t found in GW1.

So with all of these things in mind, Dry Top’s sand isn’t such a big deal really.

Yeah I was wondering about that too. The Silverwood—>Silverwaste transition is far more massive a change than Dry Top just… becoming more sandy.

But the world itself changes in strange ways, every where. I recently logged back into GW1 and took a look at Ascalon…. seems the Foefire created more of the Great Wall, in ruins, than existed when it first was breached.

[Suggestion] Emoji Support.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Gryphon.2875

I dont support this because it leads to people not being able to express their emotions anymore.
I dont want my kids to show me an emoji on their smart phone, when i ask how the are doing.

I’m not sure how that works. I just don’t understand. Emoticons are supposed to add to the conversation. Why is “I’m fine” better than “I’m fine”? Especially if the first one can be miss-interpreted as something bad? If you add a simple smile, you can change the tone of your entire sentence.

Could you explain please?

There is no explanation. Emoticons (which is what they should be called) are there to give a facial expression to text, to simulate body language. They are useful to prevent misinterpretation in a quick text.

Also, to Wanze, do you encourage your kids to use apostrophes and to capitalize the word “I?”

Toughness wasted stat

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Gryphon.2875

Gryphon.2875

The thing with all the defensive stats is that they scale well, but only when you increase two of them. Let me give an example.

Lets say you’re a necromancer. You have 1846 armor, and 18472 health. You have 1000 points to spend. If you put all 1000 into vitality, you’ll end up with 28472 health, which is a 54.1% increase in how much damage you can take. Put that into toughness, and you gt 2846 armor which is a 54.2% increase. But, if you 500 into both vitality and toughness, you’d get 2346 armor and 23472 health. That is 27% reduction from toughness, but that also applies to all of the extra health, so you would, to scale, have 29830 HP (a 61.4% increase overall).

It’s a concept called effective health. Because the two stats multiply each other, the best way to invest stats is so that health is roughly 10x higher than armor, then increase them at the same rate. This is where toughness kind of gets the shaft. For you see, the necro is already at the golden ratio of 1:10. Every other class… not so much. They all need a certain amount of vitality to reach the golden ratio.

Warrior: 290 Vit
Guardian: 1046 Vit
Ranger: 472 Vit
Engineer: 472 Vit
Thief: 899 Vit
Elementalist: 756 Vit
Mesmer: 328 Vit

Overall, players will end up getting more from Vitality from sheer statistical efficiency alone.

Very informative Thanks!

Gryphon.2875

So, if you’ve noticed ANET is adding about a new stat set an update (Sinister, Nomad, etc). I don’t understand this logic. Currently, there are 24 sets, not all of these are available for trinkets, armor, and weapons.

I say there should be EVERY combination.

“Woah, woah, woah. EVERY combination?! That’s like…” (tries to math and head blows).

Yea, thats 9×8×7 combinations. (3 slots, 9 traits not inincluding class specific)

“That’s too much. There’s no way they can add that many.”

Ah, but it’s not. The way they are currently progressing, yes. It’s going to get more and more difficult to implement. It’s going to be a game of “What can we add over x years. And how do we keep balancing / updating that.”

“But everything will be unbalanced!?”

Relax. I will explain why after.

Rules:
1. All stats should be available to armor, trinkets, and weapons (get rid off aquabreather).
2. Any combinations should be available.
3. Scrap current nomenclature.
4. Follow new nomenclature below.

New system:
Players will be able to craft / buy all weapons by following a simple procedure.
(For this example pretend we are talking to an Weaponsmith NPC using drop down menus.)

1. Select item and kind
(Longbow, Axe, Greatsword…)
-Krait Greatsword
2. Select primary attribute.
(Power, precision, healing power…)
-This determines the final descriptor of the item
- Ex. Power: Power
- … … Krait Greatsword of Power
3. Select first minor attribute
(Power , precision, healing power…)
-This determines an the first adjective
-Ex. Precision: Precise
-Precise … Krait Greatsword of Power
4.Select the second minor attribute
(Power , precision, healing power…)
-Ex. Healing Power. Rejuvinating
-Precise, Rejuvinating Krait Greatsword of Power

Precise, Rejuvinating, Krait Greatsword of Power
(Sigils and runes will not be named, but will display on shift click)

[img]http://i58.tinypic.com/2vja8lv.jpg[/img]

The reasons to do this are as follows:
Clarity.
Build diversity.
Content in one update rather than the next 10 years.
Ease of updates (ANET can balance this as much as possible before rereleasing to the public).
Logical nomenclature.
No items have to be added to the game. The player can choose then the item is generated. (Look at WvW badge traders, this would eliminate those huge NPC windows.
Developers would have to do one, albeit, large update; but won’t have to constantly rebalance the game. This will focus the attention on skill balances rather than equipment.

Let me know your thoughts (especially you Developers).

Thanks, United Chi.

This one is not secured properly, and the spade shape creates a weapon that can only be used against your own face. It would quickly maim you the moment it took a blow, or if your head suddenly tilted forward for some reason, (such as tucking and rolling to dodge, for example). I hope you weren’t planning on keeping your teeth and/or nose.

Cantha was a very unique Asian theme, nothing over the top or silly.

The music, terrain, characters, everything about it screams awesome. Easily my favorite place to visit in GW1. Dang you Am-Fah and your random rappelling down trying to smash my face

Too bad they removed any semblance of it in GW2… even the small district Divinity Reach that was dedicated to them in alpha/beta.

Bolded for agreement.

I forgot about the Am-Fah! It was great how they used to ambush us and drop down from ropes hanging from what we can assume were the surrounding buildings. That was a really great little detail that added to the atmosphere.

Now in NCsoft earnings report 3Q14 found from conference call: " The game is now two years old. And therefore in the not too far future we do think that we will have an opportunity to show our plans about expansion packs for this game"

Wtb Cantha expansion:)

ugh, I can feel my expectations going up unnecessarily only to fall in crushing disappointment when they announce that it definitely isn’t going to be Cantha. T_T Maybe I will just play through the missions again for the nostalgia….

Edit: Although with this new LS arc I feel ever so slightly encouraged by the direction the are taking this game in. New zones and content will really revitalize the community.

The sheer amount of Candy Corn and other Halloween items created by the masses of Trick or Treat bag farmers and the masses of people opening them in hopes of getting the Mini and shiny wrappers will probably take quite a while to clear out, even with a sink.

Heck, I only opened around 300 bags and I probably got almost 3000 candy corn and probably at least 60 of each of the consumables (and I was using them during my Lab farming to boot). Granted, part of the candy corn I got was probably loot or harvested and not just from bags, but it does illustrate just how much of the stuff was created just from bags alone. And some people were opening those in the thousands.

Heh, yet another lovely side effect of making the ghost dog RNG and account bound… more bags opened… more Halloween loot obtained… less demand on the TP after the event.
