I’d like to see Anet change the way we obtain outfits so it works like this:
You can unlock the whole outfit and wear the whole outfit anytime on any character for free (as it is now), but also unlock each individual skin (helm/shoulders/chest/gloves/legs/boots) so you can mix-n-match with other skins to truly customise your look.
It would be a win-win for everyone. Anet gives us the additional option to mix-n-match with individual skins of an outfit (which also makes us use more transmutation crystals), while still keeping the option to wear the entire outfit for free (as it is now).
This… times a million.
The first two posts of this thread are dead correct.
Then and now…
Ooh, I love picture #4! I don’t recall seeing the Mad King burst through the Lion Statue that year. Musta been at work. All I remember is the wreckage.
Make sure you show picture #3 to King Thorn… you appear to be as big as those two are, so I’m sure he’d consider you as a replacement for his disappointment of a son.
Thanks Yes, at the very first appearance of King Thorn, he burst through and I had my finger hovering over the screen cap key for just the right shot I just had a feeling that it wouldn’t ever happen again, so I had to get a picture.
And becoming an adopted Thorn? That would make my Necro’s lifetime He’s a big fan of the old coot with the pumpkin head ;D
So, I had accidentally deleted the character I had that had this item shortly after the 2012 halloween event ended. The wardrobe update didn’t include my Mad Memories (as expected). My question is simple: Can I or can I not obtain the Mad Memories this year?
Seriously, did you not read the two posts directly above yours?
ANet should make it available for people who can spell it.
You know.. I just discovered, unless stopped, my Chrome automatically changes “Memoires” to “Memories.” Apparently, “Memoires” is not a real word. “Memoirs,” however, is a real word.
Definition of LITERALLY
1
: in a literal sense or manner : actually <took the remark literally> <was literally insane>
2
: in effect : virtually <will literally turn the world upside down to combat cruelty or injustice — Norman Cousins>just saying
Neither of which apply, since not only do I sport my Mad Memoires, I see plenty of others doing it, too.
(edited by Gryphon.2875)
I mean there’s literally no one running around with the skin anymore as they most likely left the game and it’d still take some work to finish the skin..
Perhaps you need to look up the word, “literally.”
In any case, I’ve been wearing my Mad Memoires backpack since the event started.
Yes, I have both skins, and I don’t mind one bit if new people get them. Doesn’t change what’s in my wardrobe. What do I care?
(edited by Gryphon.2875)
GW1 and GW2…
Same character… reborn.
(Although he really misses his Scar armor…)
If you notice too, the Halloween music that was written for the event has been updated with live instruments. They sound a lot crisper and prettier! Another thing I noticed is when the hands try to grab you in the clock tower they make weird screaming sounds. Another NEW update is they used the screaming sounds from “Escape Lions Arch” event earlier, so now in Lions Arch you can hear the screams of people still trying to escape it. It is creepy. xD
Awesome! I wish there were a soundtrack of the backgrounds of these creepy instances…
It is not unisex. It has a different model for female human, norn and sylvari.
To make things truly right and fair, it’ll have to be like Saints row: All versions of all clothes available for both genders. And there would be both a dress and a suit for both male and female of all 5 races.
Some many not want to see an adult norn with his massive mustache and a dress. But if they want to, let them, I say.
Yes, this. For all outfits.
If they included the old GW1 control panel… basically letting us decide what skills they use, what skills they cannot use, and where to stick them, then sure.
What I really don’t understand is why the GW1 AIs were so much better than the GW2 ones..
“Did IQs drop sharply while I was away?” – Ellen Ripley.
Perhaps this is a better forum to post this in.
The GW1 Scar and Tatoo armors. The plain ones. Never was fond of the Elite ones.
And, yeah, there are some who don’t wanna see people in “thongs” running around (even though that was perfectly acceptable in GW1). Well, make it a cheaper set with only torso, arms and legs pieces, or maybe some pants that don’t look like thongs.
I like both Outfits and Armor Sets. Both have their uses. I would like more armor sets in the Gem Store, though.
I do believe the only way is to get shiny foil candy wrappers, and give them to Terksli, a skritt in the old trading ship in LA (that’s no longer the trading ship). But that only enters you in a raffle for the item.
Agreed. Plus +1
General Options > User Interface
- Hide My Story — While the Living Story is interesting, I don’t feel like going through it on each of my characters. The constant reminder on the upper right of my screen, not to mention on the mini-map, is distracting and unnecessary. Being able to remove it would help reduce clutter, as well.
Options, User Interface, Content Guide: “Disable Personal Story”
May not be what you mean, but that option is there.
He would look fab. I think it was my topic you were looking for. In any case, yes, this should be an obvious addition and option to have. We have hidable gloves, shoulders and helms. Shirts, at the very least, should also be hidable.
Sometimes I wonder that. I think I just like being in Tyria…
Ranger pets have a similar oddity to them. As you are on the surface of the water, you have no access to any of your skills or profession mechanics, this includes the Ranger’s pet. The pet simply despawns when you hit the surface of the water.
This means that if you are using the trait that builds up attribute stacks on your pet, or your pet has boons, touching the water (or diving in) will destroy that. Unlike the sigil stack issue, you cannot “simply” pay 10g to get around this clunky behaviour.
Which is why my Necro avoids water like the plague… cause my Flesh Golem doesn’t just pop off like a ranger pet. He has to totally be respawned, manually, with the cooldown, even if I just slip and touch water. Irritates me no end that Flesh Golems can’t swim. The rest of my minions swim just fine.
It’d be really nice if the camera worked like it does in GW. That would solve a lot of issues with the camera.
This. A million times this.
And more.
oh trust me, they have progression. Ascended was the single worst decision they made. They literally became like all of the other MMOs out there the day they announced it. And no they don’t need more progression they need it to remain where it is now.
Skins are good so long as everyone can get to them. No one should be forced into doing parts of the game that aren’t part of the play style we should have actual “play as you like” mechanics in this game by now. Karma is going to waste big time in this game.
Agreed.
I love to make my character stronger whit skills items statcs and i don’t think i’m not the only one but seriously for everyone out there that thinks this is smart question as well, do u guys like to build the best gear out there on the first year of playing the game and use that gear years and years out of the line just keep on changing the skins on it ?
- Your character won’t become any stronger with gear grind. It’s just the same if you deal 1000 damage to a monster with 1 million health than if you dealt 1500 damage on monster with 1.5 million health. If stuff is dying too fast they are just going to buff resistances so that the player experience stays the same. It already happened and it was one line in patch notes.
What gear grind does is
1) separate population of players who have played for a long time from those who are just starting
2) slower player progression through the game
3) provide a cheap alternative to designing an actually challenging game
Totally correct.
You know, this thread has furthered my desire to reinstall GW1 and take my old characters for a spin
you know what? i did just that recently. suddenly … all the boredom, frustration and anger about gw2 washed away. now i’m back to min-maxing gvg and ha teambuilds i’ll never actually play and heroing endgame content. i didn’t drop gw2 all together (still doing something here and there now and then) but that little voice in my head that says “you totally want to play gw1 again” is completely right. i did duncan, uw and urgoz recently and i can’t wrap my head around how anything (except the aetherblade path in ta which i really like) in gw2 could compete with that in terms of content quality.
Hrm, well I never did do Winds of Change… think I’ll give it a go!
Anyway, to the OP… this game was sold to us in good confidence that it would never be what you ask for. Ascended Gear has already cracked that promise. No further divergence will be tolerated. Sorry. Go someplace else.
Halloween events in GW1 were hotly anticipated and generated hours upon hours of fun for a month. This two week deal is a sad comparison.
Guild Wars used to me my favorite Halloween game. I used to just hang out in Lion’s Arch for hours, chatting, dancing, joking around. THEN they added quests which made it even better. Seems like GW2’s version is going backwards.
You know, this thread has furthered my desire to reinstall GW1 and take my old characters for a spin
I loathe gear progression. Heck , after my first GW1 character finished the story, I had the rest of my characters “ran” to Droknar’s Forge, to get the max armor and weapons, so I wouldn’t have to worry about it while I played the rest of the game
I vote yes largely because its probably easier for PvP players to get the PvE armor they want then PvE players to get the PvP armor they want.
Correct
1) Have an Asura
2) Equip said outfit
3) Remove headgear
4) Add flute in hand
5) You now have your own Satyr-character
Now, if only I could make the devil’s horns visible on him…
Your two plus years of cries to put back in a completed armor set that was available in beta from karma vendors falls on deaf ears.
That makes zero sense.
How does that make zero sense? You’re not the first person to make this thread. We’ve been asking for this armor set to be put back in for literally more than two years. Anet has not responded to a single thread regarding this issue with the exception of an extremely vague post on Reddit saying that missing armors may be brought back through reward tracks.
#SweptUnderTheRug
The river eventually erodes the mountain.
I’m okay with outfits… If we can have more where removing hands, shoulders and head pieces are an option. I would like this set a lot more without the broadened shoulders which look especially awkward on my Norn ): Still, it’s a nice set and my Necromancer is rocking it.
Likewise, and seconded. I’m always for hide-able armor and outfit pieces.
Please put more GW1 ARMOR into the game as gem shop armor sets! (Like Krytan, Profane, etc).
And Scar and Tatoo armor!
This is how you make customers happy:
You take something away from them, wait for them to complain and point out its not fair that you took it and not developing anything meaningful to the game, bring it back without developing anything meaningful to the game – and they are happy! Yay! :-D
Well, it’s something specific that I want so, yes, it would make me happy :P

That makes zero sense.
That squeal of hers is hilarious.
Yeah. Bring back scar and tattoo armour. Heck, for Asura, you could have Magitech tattoos that have flowing magical energy so they look like circuits.
That would be awesome! :-D
U totally get my vote for this! +1!!!
Thanks :-D
Hide-able everything. The only epic thing that old MMO Runes of Magic featured.
Never seen another MMO do that.
That would be awesome, but let’s start with shirts! :-)

“Pieces of this set were unlocked through the previous structured PvP reward system. Players cannot currently obtain it.”
Please, can we have this for PvE? Outfit? Gem Store? Something?
google Tribal Armor Set for light armor classes
tho the armors are gone for goodbut yea Id like to see some kittenty male characters walking on the street

“Pieces of this set were unlocked through the previous structured PvP reward system. Players cannot currently obtain it.”
I’d love to know if and when they’ll make it available for PvE.
Because armor is there to protect. If you dont want to see armor unequip it.
Someone not familiar with Tattoos in GW1.
I suggest Tattoo “skins” ala GW1.
And Scars, yes, yes yes yes.
I just want some skimpy armor options for male avatars. I can’t even find one that bares my arms. Especially something like a more cutaway version of masquerade armor, sophisticated/skimpy.
Equal representation and more options/customization the ftw!
Yeah that’s my gripe with the torso of the Pit Fighter. Yeah it shows the chest and back pretty well, but it hides the arms. PLUS it’s ONLY heavy… which makes no sense… There’s no Light armor more skimpy than a HEAVY one?
Yes, thank you for proving my point. That covers much more than the heavy one.

This is actually a good idea, but as posters above me said, it should be for male and female characters.
Not trying to say it just for people to be skimpy, but norn could show off theyre tattoos, charr could show off their stripes and actually go supersaiyan with that new hairdo.
As long as the characters are wearing something underneath their armor, theres not a problem with this idea. While were talking cosmetic changes, why not get rid of transmutation charges instead of punishing people who want to change clothes on the go? I mean they did it with trait points, and if they really need the money that bad they could just do the boxed expansion idea that everybody is already ready to throw $40 down on ( playable quaggans and kodans pls ). Being able to dye weapons would also be a neat idea but some weapons are just lame recolored versions of other weapons so that might upset people.
Going back on topic, this idea should have been implimented already. If the reason people have a problem with it would be because of people making female characters and wearing no clothes, all i have to say is its a legit strategy! Especially when playing as a skimpy female character gives you the advantage of distracting your opponant! Who would be able to combat you when they dont even have theyre hands on the controls?! Perfect legit strategy.
Males and Females, yeah. But, yes, it should have been added as a checkable / uncheckable option when they added the option for arms. I changed the title and my OP.
(edited by Gryphon.2875)
Well, we definitely need more skimpy options for males, regardless. It should be balanced between the genders. So far, unless you’re a Norn, there’s really only two heavy armor torso’s that are skimpy. One covers the arms, the other the shoulders. Not good enough. :-P The Gem Store ones is just a re-skin of another one already in game, with flames animation. Light really only has one that shows the chest, and that’s just barely, at least in PvE. (Again the Gem Store one is a reskin + flames.) Norns have a few more options, but I prefer humans.
I miss the Scar and Tatoo armors from GW1.
We need more skimpy variety!
Since helm, gloves, and shoulders all have a hide option now… why not just make shirts hide-able too?
Please?
i think it will be a good idea, i have a norn warrior and i always thought it will look more savage and barbaric in his bare chest like the mossman form fractals. Also in some models and arts of gw1 norns where showing thier chest too.

I think it would be an excelent idea for some character conecpts
I could care less about the skimpiness or whatnot.
However, I’d be more than happy to see more of my Charr’s awesome fur pattern and the torso area does provide the most of it. It’s such that makes most Charr unique from each other besides armor after all, that and such detail is a shame to cover up.

I agree, apart from this:
5. Costumes?!
I think recently we’ve gotten too many costumes, with even more datamined and too little actual armor sets. Costumes are awesome, and they have as amny fans as enemies. But I think replacing armor sets with costumes is a bad move. We didnt get a new armor set for months now.
Some of us haven’t much RL money, and an investment in an outfit we can use while leveling, and on multiple toons, is more cost effective than a ton of transmutation charges.
IGN says this is a PvP set, but that’s an old post; so, I was wondering if it’s available in PvE in any way, yet?

Not to mention, the scar armor at least was/is more a Grenth thing…
The GW1 Scar and Tatoo armors. The plain ones. Never was fond of the Elite ones.
You could even make the scars / tatoos GLOW now, since we’re all about the glowey animations and such in GW2. And, of course, make them dyable.
Make them an outfit, so everyone could enjoy them.
And, yeah, there are some who don’t wanna see people in “thongs” running around (even though that was perfectly acceptable in GW1). Well, just make the outfit upper-body only, and give it some really cool looking trousers.
