Maybe you kicked them too fast and 2 out of 3 kicks didn’t get registered?

Probably, considering it took me well over 50, maybe 100 kicks as I chained it out of the area. Alternatively, you and those you know are just really lucky and it has something like a 5% chance after a the first few kicks. When you kick it, it pauses for a second before running back. You probably have to wait for that or else it doesn’t count.

Remove the ability to join a lobby that will finish in 2 minutes.

It’s not really an issue since it just resets. It failing however is another problem, but in the case of the JP, that’s how you can score a private instance.

Otherwise how can you say we shouldn’t be wisps for this one?

Falling wisps aren’t as fun to watch.

They probably didn’t make people whatever because it’s a much easier experience compared to everyone starting at the same point and expected to hop between a few little objects. Not only can you choose a different path, you can also simply wait a snowflake turn, then you likely won’t see the other players again, assuming you all don’t fail early on.

Healix.5819

you have to actually buy things and be in front of a Trading post to pick up, so i don’t see how it can be worth abusing. Besides, TP already have infinite storage.

If you could selectively pick and choose, there’s nothing stopping you from using the trading post to store stuff forever. As it currently is, you can no longer use the trading post to buy something you need without first picking up the 100k+ items you were saving to flip at a later date. Any serious flipper however has multiple accounts just for this purpose.

I’m not sure how it would create any extra burden on the server, considering it already remembers everything you bought.

It actually doesn’t. They’ve already had to cut down the trading post’s history to improve performance.

How bad it’d be however is heavily dependent on how it’s coded. Regardless, letting you sift through everything is obviously a huge difference compared to only letting you view some of it. It could be done and it would definitely have paging/limits, but it’d probably require a lot of work, especially considering that they seem to be currently using a simple queue to interface communications.

Its like opening a document that contains 10 pages. The computer already remember whats written in all 10 pages (saved data), it will not reduce the performance if you decide to scroll to page 3, instead of reading the pages in order. Same concept.

The data still needs to be processed in order to even find page 3. If the goal was to read random pages as fast as possible however, like an indexed database, then the pages would be stored in fixed blocks, allowing the page number to be calculated.

Trust me, as someone who knows their IT, a patching server uses exponentially more “server resource” than the small amount needed for what i’m suggesting and there is obviously no problem there.

A patch server only uses a lot of bandwidth, which ArenaNet outsources to a CDN. Handling cached files requires very little processing. Real time database transactions are the opposite, requiring little bandwidth, but having high processing costs.

When the JP was first introduced, it was an actual map, like any other PvE zone. It was later converted to the SPvP format, which added the time limit and scoreboards. They use the PvP format because PvE stuff is disabled there. People were using speed boosters for example in the clock tower. You have to be careful however, because sometimes your PvP equipment is a factor. Not sure if it’s still the case, but stack vitality gear for Snowball Mayhem; the other stats do nothing.

In short, GW2 is running out of memory.

HoT basically made a 64-bit version of Windows a requirement. You can’t fix the problem without upgrading to 64-bit, but you can try to avoid it. Set the model limit/quality under graphics settings to lowest and restart the game after waypointing to a new zone. The longer you play / the more objects you load, the more likely you’ll crash.

If you want to upgrade, you may be able to use your existing Windows 7 32-bit key for the 64-bit version:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/software-download/windows7

If you don’t know your key, you can use ProduKey to recover it. Note, security software may label it as malware, because it’s reading your key.

Busted Flagon/Bouncer/Bar Brawl was basically the same idea as Costume Brawl, but with NPCs. They were probably abandoned because how would they have implemented them back then? Private instanced activities? Now however, they have phased adventures. The shooting gallery is what target shooting would have been like. If they ever bring them back, which would probably be easy to do now as they’d be redundant, expect them to be as adventures.

Why would they remove them just because you can’t play them? The visuals still add to the atmosphere and the carnival area is used for the human personal story.

Healix.5819

An easy/normal mode would be easy to implement. It could be as simple as offering permanent protection. It wouldn’t be a good idea to split open world maps however, but they could easily do it for the story. Since they let groups trivialize it anyways, which is probably ArenaNet’s intended version of an easy mode, they wouldn’t even need to disable the achievements or reduce the rewards.

GW2 was always meant to be challenging however. The game was heavily nerfed during beta because of the standstill MMO crowd, where even a level 2 Moa in Queensdale would kill you within a single channeled peck. Their intention was to ease-in the difficulty, increasing it over time to improve those players. They have gone back and nerfed old content however, like the Silverwastes, so maybe they’ll blanket nerf HoT with the next expansion.

BigGuilds vs SmallGuilds: unfair scribe costs

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Healix.5819

Scaling can work, but it needs to dynamically adjust to the total size of the guild. For example, they would need to limit guilds to 5 people at first, which could be upgraded or downgraded in quantities of 5. As you changed the size of the guild, everything would scale accordingly, including the requirements of anything already completed. Any excess would be banked for future upgrades, or a portion could be recovered.

Decorations should be easy to make and simply be balanced around singles though, but they can easily scale by requiring multiples in order to place them.

The problem however is that guilds would be discouraged from increasing their size, especially when smaller guilds are more likely to contribute compared to the spam invite zerg guilds.

Wait… are you saying your 8-pin power input for your GPU only has a 6-pin connected to it? IIRC a 6-pin delivers 75W and a 8-pin delivers 150W. I’m not sure what side-effect your setup would cause though.

Both can actually supply the same power with 3x 12v pins, but the 6-pin is only specified for 2 with 1 unused, so it’ll vary by PSU. If it is 3x 12v, it’s entirely possible to rig up the last 2 pins with a fake connection as they’re only ground wires. The lack of those 2 pins being connected at all however could be causing the problem, as one is an optional power regulator which the GPU is probably going to test, and with nothing there at all, it may default to the lowest power configuration.

I’m looking out for some incompatibility on, maybe, my cpu, or eighter any program I might have…

The “bus interface load” is the amount of data being sent back and forth between the GPU. Notice how GW2 was capping it while the other game wasn’t? The limited bandwidth of x1 means that GW2 is having to wait on the GPU.

Check the BIOS for any PCIe limiters / manual slot configuration and while you’re at it, disable the integrated graphics and any power saving/green features it has. Update the BIOS (compare your version) after testing, which will probably reset the settings, so try again. Some boards will share the PCIe bandwidth, so try disabling all non-essential features in the BIOS – USB Turbo has been a cause in the past – and after testing that, strip down the system to its bare components (take out any other PCIe cards) to test.

Take out the GPU and check its contacts for damage or dirt, then do the same for the slot. All it takes is 1 pin without contact. Be careful not to damage anything. Slot it back in, ensuring that it’s properly in place and not slanted or anything (the clip on the slot should snap in place, if applicable). Additionally confirm that GPU is properly powered.

If you’re not intentionally running it, disable NVidia GFE shadowplay/sharing.

Back in the day, the festivals were a part of the actual living world, which is why they were updated. Now however, they’re simply distractions used to buy time. They could maybe squeeze in 1 festival a year to add on to, but anything major would certainly take the place of a living world episode, meaning everything gets pushed back by 2 months. There’s simply no profit in doing that.

Your ISP can’t do anything as they have no control over someone else’s network. If you contacted them, they’d likely ask for a tracert then probably just point that out. The most they would do is forward your complaint, which would then be ignored. They might be able to route you over an entirely different network, but it’s highly unlikely. If you want a quick solution, you can use a VPN to reroute your connection, though you’ll need to find one that is both close by and not on the same route.

My account was banned for eleven days, but I never purchased any gold?

If you’re saying the reason for the ban was that you participated in real money trading, you don’t actually need to buy/sell gold to get banned. If someone sends you an item or gold in the mail for example, regardless if you accept it or not, you’ll be banned if they were flagged for RMT. RMT also happens through the trading post, which can get you banned if you fall into the trap of buying/selling items with extremely abnormal prices. If you share an IP with someone who gets banned, which includes any IPs across any accounts you’ve logged in to, they’ll assume the account are shared, so they’ll ban them all.

When you contact support, they’ll usually say something about how the decision is final. Ignore it and ask to have the ticket elevated. You can also post in that stickied thread.

You say its not resolved like this is an easy fix for Anet, they would have to do a massive amount of work just to increase the game to 4k, all icons etc would need remade, take that across the entire game, all that work for maybe less than 1-2% of ppl who play at 4k

They would simply stretch the icons, which is how it’s already done. If scaling is already done by percentage, they’d simply need to enter a new value. If that was the case however, they probably would have done it already, so it must be hardcoded.

It’s likely failing to download from your local asset server. You can manually try a different one by using the -assetsrv command, but do note that the IPs can change over time. You could also try using Google’s DNS as a permanent solution. For -assetsrv, enter the following into the address bar of the folder containing Gw2.exe and hit enter (or you could make a shortcut):

Gw2.exe -assetsrv 52.84.16.151

You can lookup other IPs yourself by opening a command prompt (cmd.exe) and entering the following command:

… or using Google’s DNS:

nslookup assetcdn.101.ArenaNetworks.com 8.8.8.8

If it still fails, use the -log command, then open %appdata%/Guild Wars 2/Gw2.log to see where it’s getting stuck.

Posted by: Healix.5819

Healix.5819

The error means that you’re missing something required by the executable in order to run, or it’s corrupted/unsupported/unreadable.

Just to rule it out, add GW2 as an exception to your security software. Disabling it isn’t always enough, and some security software will even persist after uninstalling.

If you’ve googled it, you’ve probably already tried sfc /scannow to check the integrity of Windows. If not, search the start menu for cmd, right click command prompt and run it as an administrator. In the command prompt, enter: sfc /scannow. Run Windows Update after. If sfc failed, try again under recovery by pressing ctrl+alt+del to bring up the lock screen, then hold shift and click shutdown > restart to bring up another menu. Select troubleshoot > advanced > command prompt, which will reboot to a prompt. Your drives will move around while in this mode, so you’ll need to confirm which drive is your system. It’ll likely be d: instead of c:, so enter d: into the prompt, then enter dir to list the contents of the directory. Change the letter if necessary:
sfc /scannow /offbootdir=d:\ /offwindir=d:\windows

Press WindowsKey+R and open msconfig. Under the boot tab select safe boot with network under it, then ok and reboot to enter safe mode. This will disable non-essential software, so it’s a simple way to test for conflicts. Some security software will however persist, which can be a problem. Try running GW2 now. Uncheck safe boot under msconfig to return to Windows.

If you’ve googled it, you might have tried to uninstall/reinstall Microsoft Visual C++ runtimes. If not, open “programs and features” and uninstall all of them, taking note of what version you remove as you’ll need to re-download them from Microsoft later, otherwise your other games will fail to run.

As a compromise, you could try the 32-bit version of GW2 by renaming Gw2Setup.exe to Gw2.exe and using the -32 option (Gw2.exe -32). This would however mean that your system’s 64-bit DLLs are the problem.

As a last resort, use system restore or re-install Windows.

It could’ve changed with their new format, but considering seasons were originally planned to play out over a year in pseudo real time, there’ll likely only be 6 episodes at most. I wouldn’t be surprised if the 4th is the last. The living story only serves as an introduction to the expansion. Next episode Taimi’s probably going to reveal how to fight the two dragons and it’ll probably involve Aurene and some lost artifact, like something involving Glint’s old cave in the desert. They could still touch on and fill out some other things, but with the stage set, they could end with an expansion trailer whenever.

Its like they are trying to screw over the players and making sure they die. The game isnt really enjoyable, its a pain. You arent ment to enjoy the story, and not have the feeling of, you can’t wait till its over, which is how i have it

The NPCs will actually kill everything for you, so you can just run away and wait it out if you really wanted to. This is the problem with having actual helper NPCs compared to NPCs being mostly cosmetic (balanced for the group vs balanced for you). Your experience can vary greatly because of them, because sometimes they’ll actually tank everything for you.

As for the general difficulty, GW2 was always intended to be balanced for the action gamers, whereas most MMOs are balanced for the casual players. If you play an action game like Witcher 3 for example on a normal difficulty, you should notice a similar solo experience to GW2. The problem however is that GW2 lacks vertical progression to compensate, which is probably why ArenaNet allows groups to trivialize the content, except most people would likely quit instead of going out of their way to group. Some professions are also far easier than others; a necromancer is probably the easiest due to its natural defense, effectively having 5x the health and pets.

Nearly the same thing can seen in the new map, except enemies will occasionally ignore the AoE. As an elementalist for example, I’ve dropped a meteor shower and watched the griffons run far away, and sometimes they don’t even come back, though still in combat.

I doubt they’ll bother adding a retry mote considering they never went back and redid season 2, and these achievements are trivial compared to that. Grouping up to cheat it is the alternative.

Why? Access to the treasury is the reward for completing the event. If you don’t participate, why should you be rewarded?

When? They’ve been talking about it for like a year. That’s all they’ll probably do until the next expansion (~ another year).

How? You should assume that if you don’t participate, you won’t get the rewards. Something like the particpation buff in the Silverwastes, or they may just put cooldown on the chests. If they wait until the next expansion, they’ll likely just nerf the contents and say it’s time to move on. They need to fix the core problem though – changing instances to farm the same thing over and over.

Vermignus could actually be an interesting world boss if there were any challenge in it. For now, even when the scaling is so high that 2-3 champion wurm pop at the same time, the golem in itself isn’t remotely damaged.

You have it backwards. Bringing more people only makes it easier (and funnily, more rewarding). Scaling was only intended to make it so larger groups could reasonably participate, like a level 80 in Queensdale. In terms of difficulty, if you bring 100 people, it’s actually going to be balanced for something like 60. Normal group events are actually balanced for 3 people.

Failing the wurm is nearly impossible however without intentionally trying. The wurms tend to ignore the middle relays, so it’s possible to win even if nobody shows up. If you want to see an event with a huge difference, try the sloth queen with only a few people. The zerg can casually burn her down, but a small group won’t be able to out DPS her healing, and trying will only cause her to eat the grubs faster, leading to a fail. The actual goal is to stall for the food deliveries, which put her to sleep.
