Actually, no. They said, they reduce damage by 10%, not critdmg. According to the formula:

1-(1.885/1.94) = 2.85%

Replacing 2.85% with the desired 10% and 1.885 with X, which will be the new overall damage:

1-(X/1.94) = 0.1
x = 1.746

Now we are taking this formula:

(1+0.79*(0.5+0.62)) = 1.885

Replace 1.885 with 1.746 and 0.62 with X for the new crit dmg modifier:

(1+0.79*(0.5+X)) = 1.746
x = 0.44

So we get from 69% critdmg to 44%, which is ~36.2% nerf to critdmg, similar to what i got earlier

Also consider the overall dmg nerf for burst builds, it will be nigh impossible to kill a condi class as a shatter.

I’m currently getting 80% Critdmg from gear alone (Celestial weapons, helm, coat and leggins, Cavalier back, rest Zerker + Traveler runes).

I will have about 656 Ferocity after the patch. Going by (12 Ferocity = 1% Critdmg) this will result in 52% Critdmg and thus a 35% Nerf in Critdmg. My Critchance is ~50%, so overall i will get nerfed by 17-18%, not counting the Vigor (and thus Deceptive Evasion) nerf.

Hoping i did no major flaws but so far i see a HUGE nerf coming for Shatter builds. Not that they were that competitive in WvW roaming to begin with.

Yes, you lose 10% of your crit damage. It’s the end of the world. Your char will fall over the dead the moment you press an attack.

I’m losing more than that. I’m assuming that Celestial Critdmg will get nerfed to the ground compared to berserker/valkyrie/cavalier. I spent an awful lot of time to grind for ascended Celestial stuff and won’t accept having to trash them.

/edit: Also Shatter builds lose up to 50% of their long term DPS because of Vigor Nerf so i might even reconsider to completely rebuild.

Exactly, and the reason is that those builds are just unplayable without Deceptive Evasion and the added vigor. If ArenaNet were to take our main clone source shatter would cease to exist so they’d need to give something ine exchange.

/edit: Removing Critical Infusion would most likely limit Shatter to 0/20/0/10/30, leaving exactly 10 points. Those will go either to Domination for added damage or Inspiration for condi cleanse. Not exactly build diversity for me.

I’d include a slight nerf to PU mesmers (replace Aegis with swiftness or something similar, so it also has a bad RNG option like every other mesmer RNG skill, or only let it trigger every 2s).

I certainly hope they nerf condition damage in an equal way or at least give zerker gear +vit, like it does in PvP. Otherwise, condi builds will be even stronger than they are currently.

Disclaimer: I don’t care about PvE, my opinion is mostly based around WvW roaming/duelling.

I think it’s fine for some classes to have better access to vigor than other. Warrior has a lot of immunities, block, the highest hp and armor, so it doesn’t need vigor that badly. Eles and mesmers, on the other hand, are a lot squishier and have entire builds relying on on-dodge traits (ele might stacking, mesmer shatter/clone death).

Removing vigor would only server one purpose: It makes warrior an even more dominant class than it already is.

Necros could use more (or better…any) access to vigor, though.

Ironically he does sometimes if both you and your target are on elevated terrain (i even had him climb stairs once…but only once so far).

And lets look at the roaming aspect of mesmer:
We’re 1 build, PU. Eventhough I play it in roaming, I would never use it in dueling unless the enemy wants me to. Why? Because it’s massively overpowered in roaming and dueling. The synergy is so good with phantasm that you can almost faceroll anything 1v1. And with the last patch, we only go buffed in roaming!
Give us something more challenging for roaming, idc if its not as strong as PU. I’ll find my way around it.

Shatter, Lockdown, Phantasm. Just because you only play 1 build doesn’t mean there aren’t more. PU might be the most powerful due to the defining trait being overbuffed but you wanted something challenging and…there are.

I have to admit i haven’t read all posts in this topic. PU was a good trait before it got buffed to triggering every second, so i would just suggest reverting to the previous state (triggering every 3s).

Nerfing any type of stat combination is, for me, a very bad solution. Rather than kittening of several hundreds or thousands of players ArenaNet would do much better with designing PvE content in a way that rewards different builds/playstyles.

Berserker gear isn’t a problem in the other 2 gamemodes (it might be, however, if they will ever introduce another step of gear grind. But i will quit the game at that point anyway ^^).

i think ileap needs to be nerfed like infiltrator’s strike was.

i don’t see how making inf. strike useless and then letting mesmers do the exact same kitten is fair at all.

Well, that’s because iLeap:
- has a cd
- needs a target in 600 range to make the chain skill available
- has a much shorter time window to use the stun break

I quite dislike nr 1 because it would remove the (at least for me) popular iLeap -> Diversion combo and, as you already stated, cause me to have 1 less clone for shattering. This would also leave Sword/X combos without a clone skill which goes against how it is for every other weapon combo. Since iLeap won’t be a clone skill after this change, it also won’t be affected by iCelerity which will further nerf the skill by increasing its cd for many builds.

I’m ok with nr 2 und 3, though.

A year ago Johnathan Sharp posted an updated class description guide on this forum.

Well, tbh, that class description was total bullkitten. The old descriptions told something about how ArenaNet wanted the classes to work, but after the rework they stated exactly what was the current state of the classes. If i remember correctly, the ele description says something in the line of “can do everything, but is harder to play” (this was before all those ele nerfs, btw).

So…i wouldn’t give much about those descriptions.

Area fear would most likely be too strong considering that necros have what i would call the best #1 downed ability and win almost any downed vs downed fight (except against warrior). I always thought thaat the fear works on their target, but if it doesn’t, it should be fixed.

When i’m running solo (and i almost always do) i expect to die…a lot. But that’s fine for me. We often are outmanned on at least 1 map, that’s where i roam because there are no repair costs. I like attacking bigger groups, even zergs, and trying to lure some players out of it (can’t expect 1v1, always expect at least 1v2/3).

If the whole group chases after me and doesn’t give up on it, i’m dead. I’m mesmer, i use traveler runes, but they are still faster than me most of the time.

If i want fair 1v1 duels, i go to the Obsidian Sanctum arena. And in this area, i expect 1v1 and i know those of the other servers who also do will not intefere if i kill someone who disturbed a duel.

Don’t buff food. You must always consider the cost some of these possess and the advantage people using them have over people who don’t. Actually i think the best solution would be removing food entirely, at least from WvW.

Personally i’d prefer Traveler for mesmer as our health pool is already quite decent. For my guardian, on the other hand, i’d use Speed runes. He also lacks a passive speed buff, but his base health is a lot lower than for mesmers.

+-10% condi duration is way too little, compared to e.g. +10% crit dmg lol, please think a little.
Minimum 20% for condis, maybe 25% or smth like that.

Why? Traitlines are also balanced for 30% condi duration to 30% critdmg. That’s just how it is and should be the same for food.

I mostly do WvW roaming or duels in Obsidian Sanctum arena. I like the increased build diversity, the open space roaming provides and the possibility to have a real crowd of spectators while duelling. It just feels better when they are really there instead of just watching via spectator mode ^^

I see some problems with this:
- PvE players would have nothing (or at least much less) to do with their gold.
- Especially WvW players appreciate the increased build diversity WvW offers over PvE. Most of them still hate the Ascended grind, though…

What i would like is to have PvP skins available in all game modes for infinite uses. It’s kind of a hassle to have a single-use event skin and having to decide how to use it. As of now, i’m a pure WvW player so i use those skins for PvE/WvW, but if i should decide to play PvP tomorrow, all those skins were basically “lost” for me.

What about condition damage/ pet hybrids? They will be useless with this type of build.

Personally i think this outcome is actually desirable. Having the freedom to spec as tanky as possible while still regaining the same amount of pet dmg is no good balancing for me.

Personally, I think it would be beneficial to have an option to have a different build, gear set, etc automatically when you enter wvw. The option would prevent me from wearing the same stuff as wvw accidentally when entering a dungeon shortly afterward.

On that note I’d like hot key equips like in GW1, where you press a button and can completely change your armor and weapons set with something that you have preconfigured. This of course could only be used outside of combat.

I remember a dev post somewhere stating that they would actually like to implement something like this, but i don’t remember where it was.

Hardly possible when every weaponset is bound to have one but especially shatter builds tend to shatter phantasms immediately after they attack once, sometimes twice. I would hardly describe that as “using” phantasms.

Regarding ConditionShatter, the build is practically non-existant. There is one shatter that applies a useful amount of conditions in F2, but the duration is much too short and confusion is far from what it once was. If there would be trait to, say, apply bleeding or other conditions (yeah, there’s vulnerability, but that hardly does anything in a real condition build), there could be a ConditionShatter.

I’m not doing much PvE, but i would see part of the issue in how “challenging” is defined in this game. Most big bosses just got a lot of hp and damage that high, that it nearly doesn’t matter, how good your armor is.

I think Aetherblade Retreat was a good step in the right direction, as it introduced some mechanics that put it apart from the usual “stack together and dps”. There need to be more tricky fights where it’s not just a matter of dps.

Granted, this will make playing with “randoms” much harder since you will have to communicate more and use certain strategies to win said fights, but i think this is a price worth paying.

I agree that it can be irritating to have the same skill being different in all 3 game modes. As long as possible, i would keep balance changes the same in PvP and WvW, maybe even PvE where possible. But some skills just need to be nerfed or buffed in one of the PvP modes but would be totally op or useless in the other.

Personally, i would simply like to see Rush (GS #5) removed and replaced by something non-moving (or with a small movement to keep Mobile Strikes’ power level). It misses most of the time anyway and is mainly used for moving around in a way that shouldn’t be possible for a heavy armor class.

Maybe move Arcing Strike (current F1) zu #5, replace it with Hundred Blades and give warriors a new #2 skill, maybe something that applies bleeding. If so, the current HB damage should be for full adrenaline as it already deals 2x the damage of eviscerate (although it is unlikely to fully hit).

Personally, i wouldn’t want that. Would make it way too hard to keep an overview in a fight. If they should ever do this, than it should be for the person using it only.

Or an option to toggle on/off as with team colours.

This is actually the better option as it would still allow someone to “boast” with their color.

As with team colors, i would like this to default to standard colors.

I wouldn’t reduce the scaling but actually increase it and lower base HP regen in exchange. Healing Signet should heal less than it currently does with additional Healing Power, but be able to heal slightly more (say, 500 HP/s with 1k Healing Power).

There should be an effort to make Warriors need to decide between damage, tankiness, healing and possibly mobility.

I’m not sure about PvE, but IMO, there shouldn’t be a difference in skills/traits between WvW and sPvP. It’s simply unintuitive and confusing to users. Heck, I wouldn’t mind if skills/traits where same across all of sPvP, WvW, and PvE.

There are still differences, a few examples:
- WvW has more open spaces and you don’t need to be capping points all the time, so mobility is much more important. Certain warrior skill (namely Whirlwind and Rush), for example, might not need a nerf in PvP, but should in WvW.

- Perma, or long term, stealth is balanced in sPvP due to not being able to cap a point. In WvW this is usually not an issue since players are seldom alone and distances are longer so you can win a fight and cap the point while the other guy won’t make it back in time. This means that mesmer PU, for example is a lot stronger in WvW than PvP and – imo – needs a nerf in WvW at least.

- AI clutter is more of an issue in PvP since there is (due to numbers) less AoE than WvW, so it needs to be toned down in PvP but can be left alone in WvW.

Because of this (and most likely several other reasons that don’t come to mind right now), it makes sense to split PvP and WvW balance.

Well Tres, you can always come to Obsidian Sanctum and head for the arena. Sorope (SWAT), me and people of the other 2 servers are there nearly everyday and you won’t get zerged…well, unless the trolls are there, obviously.
