OK, here is something very specific to the light armor. Because of all the gripes I have about female norns and that horrid frame the armors wrap around, and the weapons scale size to… shoulder armor is always a very, very tricky and heartbreaking thing. It’s something humans and sylvari do not have to contend with, but I hate the character models, faces hair and just about everything else for the others.

SO: Those shoulders on the light armor. They consist of a large rim of material with some of that blue whatever stretched between them. Remove the blue from there, make that rim hollow and just what it is. Having that gap filled makes the already disproportionately large shoulders appear much larger and I believe the skin would be better if that rim were left just hollow.
General style gripe on the rest of the armor… There are bits on odd places of the set where you made cuts into it that look like castle ramparts or such, those all should be smoothed out to fit with the lacy designs on the leggings and a few other bits.
Also for all of them…the butt capes, seriously? The light armor begs to be asymmetric.. this design would actually have handled it very well if half that butt cape was removed (similar to the crafted exotic light armor I believe). Issue being, the badonkadonk appearance and the fact that all the butt capes are quite plain. There is no dyeable ornamentation on them to break up a giant flat color. This seems to be the most common oversight with all butt cape designs, they are thrown on there as ornaments but they have no designs or anything, so instead of adding flavor, they detract from the whole by making a giant flat, plain blob on the screen. Can be fixed by adding some kind of ornaments, like the designs in the Winged leggings, or making these features much, much smaller. Norn t3 cultural heavy has the right idea for having it there, but not having it be overwhelming.
Also again with the blue, I would much prefer more actual character skin and/or the ability to change the color of that big blue blob. The armor covers my face and hair, so wearing it means there is no point in caring what my character might look like, and that blue puts severe limits on the number of colors that match well with the set.

One last thing, AQUABREATHER the first time I went underwater I got a real shock because I wasn’t expecting what I saw. Sets like this really need to come with a matching underwater piece… and that is something that needs to be sent out to anyone who has already bought the set… talk about broken immersion.

Nipples can not be seen.

there are shaded circles on the light armor and medium where they likely would be on those horrible giant augmentations of the 90’s… in some light the circle has a definantly shade difference and even a slight shadow on the bottom compared to the rest

Thank you Arena Net.
Now, how about adding a new armor set that is acquirable without gem store or long grind?

So…you’re asking for the devs to give you an exclusive new armor set, but with little to no effort or contribution to the game’s financial well-being?

=/

Or like more dungeons, and less gem store or ascended crafting i think is what he was asking for… while a dungeon grind is long, it isnt nearly so bad as the others.

As to the topic. As usual, check Norn female shoulder size before releasing please. Or just change the norn female model so that it doesnt use norn male size and placement for shoulders and weapons… norn female light armor looks so next to impossible to get right because of this alone, not for lack of nice skins. The medium and heavy suffer worst for this btw… the light is barely within limits.

As to the skin itself, the undyable, unhideable blue is kind of off the reservation, but you are heading in the right direction… remove the blue, the mask, cover the boobs just a very little more (and have a chat with whoever did the nipple thing because it’s wrong on so many levels… size, placement, the fact that its there at all…take your pick), and then make it something i can get without the gem store or vision crystals etc…

Legendary Armor idea

in Crafting

Posted by: Inimicus.7162

Inimicus.7162

SO: instead of making it bound to a single specific skin, why not make 1 legendary armor set for each of the 3 armor weights that:

-can change item skin on right-click
-can change stats on right-click
-has best possible stats
And some gaudy new gpu killing particle effect skins could be thrown in as well.

Basically, stuff is legendary, and if it is the “best of the best” why not go ahead and make it 100% the “best of the rest” too? Infinitely expandable armor… even if each piece was as involved as any current legendary weapon, I think this would be well worth doing that grind at least 6 different times for your favorite character… BUT only so long as it has access to ALL stats, and ALL skins.

EDIT: bound by race/armor weight ofc… we don’t need any more flamekissed foul ups

resources are allocated towards other aspects deemed more pressing.

When the endgame is 100% to do with looks and not really a whole lot of anything else, it is certainly important. I have gripes stemming from beta of bad graphic/meshing issues with norn females in all armors and several hair styles that have only been fixed for humans since betas… Putting the time in to fix some of the old, and frankly best, content in the game would win them many more hearts than forging ahead at all costs. And I don’t see how you could not think medium armor especially needs a whole lot of help, real bad… heavy and light both have all levels of coverage done several different ways, medium gets cultural and maybe 2 or 3 other sets (duelist and kinda meh gem store sets) to break the trench stalemate.

EDIT: actually a whole bunch of the medium trench coat sets would only need a few metal plates and maybe the SE helmet to fly as heavy armor…

You’re right. ANet would never reconsider the path they’re on, and do a complete 180 on something important.

Right?

Some of us like asymmetry. No need to bland up every shoulder skin in the game.

To counterpoint: Some of us hate asymmetry, and likely for the same reasons you like it lol ><
There is a certain level of it that doesn’t twist my eyes, Norn t3 medium (Eir’s armor) is a good example of one that is well done, even if almost too much. This case it’s one, rather small piece that only sits on one shoulder awkwardly. My tastes say there needs to be something to suggest a reason for a huge imbalance like that… Though something that looked like it was made of a much lighter material, or less material (human t3 medium shoulders, or that t3 medium chest and it’s half-skirt thing for example) is also within the bounds of acceptable. Different strokes, I just want more choice because so many shoulder pieces who could be perfect for me except they only come asymmetric and there is no like peer with proper symmetry…which a glance at my post history will reveal has been a consistent gripe of mine since the betas. I’m only asking for the chance to acquire and/or choose, not some human t3 purist looking to screw people outta what they already got.

The point of "time gating"

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Inimicus.7162

Inimicus.7162

A time gate is simply some activity where a countdown clock in one form or another prevents you from doing the same activity again within the time frame. Daily server resets at around 4pm pst (i think) is a time gate on daily achievement points, weekly guild mission resets, things that can only be crafted once daily, and the “daily rare” chest from world bosses are all examples of a time gate.

It is just an attempt by the devs of any game to force some things to take longer for the ultra wealthy, in GW2, they would have had all their ascended weapons and armors done on day 1 without time gating for example.

Fix to Raid ascended drops

Why every 3rd time a ticket. Why not just a ticket each time and require 9 tickets?
Anyway, I think it’s a bad idea. Wurm is a lot easier than teq, which will be obvious in few months when people start farming it all the time.
Also the reward is fine the way it is. Real reward is the feeling of accomplishment for actually beating it rather than some valuable skin that you think you deserve just because you guested on bg/deso or did it with specialised guild.

Tickets like raid tokens in other games is a good idea actually, though 10 would be rather fast compared to the current ascended crafting debacle.

As for “feeling of accomplishment” is this why you can’t form a single full pug group, especially when saying “no skipping” quite clear in both the lfg add and in party when they join? There’s always at least one.

And the guesting thing is a separate issue; it’s because they put something like this into the wrong setting, so not all servers will be able to kill it (causing mass guesting) and the people on their home servers are going to be shut out of the once or twice daily kill because of the masses of guests. While I like complicated mechanics and such, in the open world it’s a bit too much without also allowing it to scale way, way down…especially considering the current loot. I’m figuring 2 hours camping home server on average, a few rares, maybe an exotic if you’re real lucky and a shot at ascended gear if you win the RNG lottery jackpot. Which a group of 5 can accomplish in less time and more loot with fractals… While 5 is too few…. maybe 15-20 at each wurm head? and 30-40 total for the entire teq run would be the proper minimum scale to still keep it big, yet have it as something that is going to happen more than 1-2x daily on the more active servers

Stacking & Ignoring Enemies in Dungeons?

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Inimicus.7162

Inimicus.7162

When the game has just started, it was much more fun to do dungeons.
Because nobody knew of these stacking mechanics and stuff.
However, we spend a lot more time trying to get it right, still new and fresh off, knowing nothing.
It’s sad that new players are “robbed” of this new world experience.
But what can be done? Player’s have just found the fastest and most efficient way to do them.

Actually, good mob ai like leaving aoe circles, staying at range and such were cut because they taxed the servers too heavily.

What can be done? Well frankly… in Arah specifically people run past soooooo many champs and even take the lazy way on loot pinata groups (the detonator in paths 1 & 4 iirc).

Make all non-gate guard champs drop 10 tokens each instead of like 3… Arah p1, that would easily double the # of tokens for anyone willing to take the time.
Increase the loot from killing elite mobs since the things are basically lootless champs anyway, I see no reason they can’t be worth 1s each across the board.
Possibly even increase the loot table goodies in specific areas like that corridor with the detonator mentioned above… every single mob in there drops loot and there are only about 5 elite ooze, last i actually cleared them I left with 4 extra rares and 1 exotic item…more like this, rewards for killing elites and way more champ tokens would hopefully cause the greed issues that spur dungeon skipping to slow down and actually look at the content a little more. Hey, they could even scale back the gold or two end reward to drive the point home if they made those 3 changed above.

Plz let us to get ascended without crafting.

Do we not deserve BiS gear?

No, you do not. Your capacity to work for it is as much as anyone else’s, that’s all anyone “deserves”.

Nothing is stopping you from simply farming gold and BUYING all of the materials, at which point you press “craft” for 6 forms of Vision Crystal, and 1 more time each for 6 pieces of armor.

You want to kill things? HAM out. You are too stubborn to craft 12 things? You really don’t deserve anything.

And with that attitude it sounds more like I should be getting paid for playing this…

And too stubborn to craft 12 things? naw… too stubborn to craft 6 things, craft 12 more because I like a different color and then “ham out” currently about 32 gold more on top of it all for transmutation crystals because the first 6 were kinda ugly and the second 6 had to be 12 since weapon dye channels were put on permanent “we’re working on it” since betas…. oh yea, and i need to do this for 3 or 4 characters to make decent use of my new account bound fractal level.

Sorry, I’m not making an account full of legendaries, so shouldn’t be spending this kind of effort, gold and time on this mess just because I happen to enjoy more than 1 style of play in your super exclusive club.

Ascended Armor Making it Worthwhile

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Inimicus.7162

Inimicus.7162

Ascended armor should have been epic looking right from day 1. The light ascended looks more like a clown costume, especially on the male :-/

I believe Anet missed out on a HUGE opportunity to make ascended armor something worth striving for in terms of aesthetics, like the concept art Anet came up with below.

P.S. I support your idea. To add to that suggestion, I would recommend Anet completely re-do the looks of ascended armor (and perhaps weapons), or at least give players the option to change it to a new version (as some would like to keep the current version I’m sure)

gimme a few minutes with their art dept and i could show them how to fix the ascended heavy and light armors…I don think i’ve even see anyone wearing a full medium ascended set.. though for looks, the other two only need a few tweaks…even if I still wouldn’t wear the skin

Also, the only bit of crafting the stuff that really grinds on my nerves are the account bound materials… frankly, these shouldn’t be an issue because these are what twist the knife imho.
empy/dragonite/bloodstone…pigeon hole me into content i intentionally avoid so hard that I wouldn’t notice it all vanished from the game entirely… System can be kept, but do something to make the bits any given player hates take a lot less time.
And them Laurels… 1 month for a set of armor, and a full work week for any weapon? This is wrong… Laurels should have been left out of this equation entirely imo.

Also of note, we have now destroyed anyone’s hopes of easy crafting to 500 (easy as it ever got) because the old mats used have soared insane in price. Linen seems stuck somewhere in the 7-8 silver range per scrap…and I thought gossamer used to be rough. Other individual mats the same, but they wanted to put a dent in the silk surplus: Mission Accomplished, but now we have a few other rather serious market issues coming to light as secondary effects. Linen has always been in rather short supply, but now I worry that even going somewhere to farm it will get me banned sweepingly with bots and event exploiters…

Whole thing fairly deserves a giant “DO SOMETHING.”

Plz make zaltian story dungeon soloable.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Inimicus.7162

People are already complaining about how anti-climatic it is that 5 players “easily” can take down an Elder Dragon.

How much more of that wouldn’t we get if we could suddenly do it on our own?

I personally don’t care- I would just like to do it.

So OP you have my vote- Actually I have been begging to make all the story dungeons solo-able, or at the very least-scale able from 1-5 players

rest of the post tldr..but I agree. Arah story actually isn’t even hard anymore, it’s just so heavily scripted that it takes forever…And you wouldn’t make it far soloing it ofc. Agreed with making all story modes group-optional too, it would save me so much headache…

However, basic reason nobody runs story: 50s end reward. No tokens, not more, story modes ALL take longer than the favorite shortie runs and not a one allows 90% of the dungeon to be skipped. So nobody runs them.

Either make all stories soloable/scale-to-party, give rewards same as explorable dungeon paths, or redo all explorable modes to behave more like story (can’t skip because of some form of gate whether it’s something that MUST die, an npc objective or even just a locked door).

You weren’t there to make the meta achievement for the fervid censer?
Your bad luck.

Living Story Meta Achievement Rewards will never become and should never become tradeable. These kind of items are there to show others, how long they already play the game, that they were “there”, when something in the game happened, while others were not.

Its the same thing like with GW1’s festival hats, that also weren’t retroactively achieveable by players, that weren’t there, when the corresponding festivals were running to get the hats

That isn’t all true, those who held onto their year 1 antlers etc did gain the ability to make copies for other characters on their account via festival hat merchants, something which should have been here since day one… I should also note that it is way too late for me because all the good ones I couldn’t make fit for various reasons back when are now long, long gone…like my gw1 antlers Y-Y

Why I've changed my mind on Ascended

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Inimicus.7162

Inimicus.7162

That’s why Ascended armor is a long term goal. Once you’ve settled down into your build, you can start building your ascended armor. Once legendary armours come out, then you can start going for that

Legendary is a “long term goal” and frankly, gtfo out with your “long term goals” when i need 6-8 “long term goals” for 3-4 different characters just to pass bare minimum muster with the new account bound fractal levels… save it for legendary armor, it has no place here where actual progression (you know, the infusion slots?) is involved.

And that comment on anet trashing stats… I am losing 1 month worth of laurels, and more mats than i care to even think about when Assassin’s stats no longer can compete with zerk thx to the crit damage nerf.

I hate to agree with this but I do… and will until they bring out a medium chest that looks more along the lines of the vigil light armor chest. The only non-cultural set of medium that even nods in the direction of ‘sexy-dangerous’ is the exotic “duelist” chest and it’s named companions. Even though the Norn bra has it’s own issues with the look I’m going for, at least it doesn’t have the sleeves that break all hope of the best non-cultural, and non-trench coat look I got right now lol

Does anyone remember the Twisted Watchwork Shoulder Skin?
A reminder: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Twisted_Watchwork_Shoulders

I have a handful of these things sitting around, and am requesting they be redone to be symmetric. Just a mirror image of the same thing on the other shoulder.
Basic reasons: It dyes well enough (no strange dye channels making odd shades or filtering colors incorrectly and the bits which can not be dyed aren’t disgusting), the skin isn’t overwhelmingly huge nor annoyingly small when wearing minimal coverage armor and It sits in the proper location on norn females by not hovering at ear level or set way out of place…thx norn male armor model being used for females).

So basically just make it symmetric but otherwise don’t change a thing. Apologies for the epic fail mspaint job on the pic because mirroring the character preview just doesn’t work out too well :P

One time use, and once the skin is applied, it is spent. The only way to get it back is by using transmutation splitters (one splitter for every iteration i think) or re-buying it from the gem store…unless it’s the original flamekissed one, then you’re just sol with the rest of us.

It’s sad,but DEs have become the least favorite part of the game, one to avoid
and ignore.
They offer nothing towards making the world feel alive.
They become repetitive ,trivial and boring, just like traditional quests,
and even worse, here they are always in your way and in you face.
They are the reason Tyria is an endless graveyard of dead NPCs.
They offer no significant loot.
The player pop requirements for completing them are unrealistic.
They make no use of the dynamic scaling system in favor of the few
players that still bother to open maps.
And I can go on.
All and all DEs are poorly implemented and not only they fail in their
primary goal of making the world of Tyria feel dynamic and alive but
end up working against it.

Only in Orr where everything is a group event that really can’t be soloed or respawns too quick… Fact is that they are there for anyone who enters the zone, so I don’t mind dead or inactive ones strewn about all over the place for when i feel like breaking the harvesting binge and grabbing a little karma. I just ignore the ones I don’t like or that have 5,6,10 minute timers on them (not worth it, i agree) but otherwise unless they block a waypoint (these are beyond annoying…Orr) don’t sweat them too much… When i was still quite new to the events it felt like every zone was fresh and the npcs actually needed help (they really do), and i’ve only gotten somewhat jaded with them going back to the same ones over and over, but that is also on level 80 characters who have done the content umpteen times already. So think more along the lines of, this zone is untouched and these people need my help. Dont get jaded until you have to save those annoying frogs and quaggains from the krait until redux #50, then explore a different zone to save your own soul..trust me.

Inimicus.7162

Here’s a crazy thought OP… you could, you know… complete the events and push them back the other way? I know, I know, it sounds way WAY out there, but that option does actually exist.

Perhaps you would be kind enough to post a series of videos showing how a solo player, at appropriate zone level, can solo group Dynamic content, particularly those involving champions, to illustrate how simple what you are suggesting is, while remembering this often happens in new player and sub 50 zones.

Soloable champions… Here is the list of what I usually hit off the beaten path when i am in the area:
Wayfarer Foothills, the svanir thing in the north… kite him, range and dont let him touch you.. you kite using your side-step movement becuase it is the same or only slightly slower than normal forward movement. It’s main attacks are a charge that grants swiftness (cripple/imobilize it if you can, or just run in circles till swift wears off) and a point blank aoe ice explosion. Dodge /kite these without getting cought and you will eventually win.
Caledon Forrest: The champ undead hylek. Put on your ranged weapon (greater ranger the better) and sidestep back and forth quickly to throw off it’s aim (you can so this to players using ranged weapons too at great enough distance) thus you dodge all his projectiles and never actually get hit by it. Just watch for adds, or stand somewhere they dont come.
Brisban Wildlands: The 3 bandit guys roaming on the west side of the map: this ones a pain, you WILL die a few times killing off the 2 vet escorts. Bring the champ sylvari knight guy over near the waypoint and merchants, and kite/range him to death keeping in mind he will hypnotize you towards him for a nasty stomp combo every so often (be ready to dodge)..cripple good and he will engage npcs when/if you die so he wont reset (he also likes to try to reset when pulling him over there…nothing a dot condition like bleed or poison handle)
Plains of Ashford: Ghost of Grazeden the Protector: This guy dies real fast but hits like a train.. Beware his ground aoe and his ranged fireballs, use ghosts that spawn with him to rally if possible… if you can’t win the dps race (I’ve had to kill him from a downed state) use his bad range ai to your advantage because he quits attacking and runs to you when you break line of sight…buys time
Plains of Ashford: Fire Shaman in the cave: Line of sight his fireballs and watch his firey rush..this one you will pop out from behind cover, pop off a shot or two with a ranged weapon and get right back behind before he finishes his casting animation.
Diessa Plateu: Champion Giant.. dodge his stomp (huge range on this and guaranteed 1-shot), sidestep (back and forth rapidly) his boulders and his ground-pound line attacks (or line of sight the ground pounding line shockwave things—-LoS)
Fields of Ruin: Champion Branded Devourer… stay at range, dodge it’s slow fire siege attack, takes a while, but it will eventually die and dont close the distance, it is nastier in melee.
Fields of Ruin: Separatist assassin attack on the negotiations: NPCs there never die, so break aggro with her and heal up by falling off the cliff if need be, watch her ranged and her elementalist tornado skill.
Fields of Ruin: 2 Champion Wasps, kite kite kite and range range range, they are all melee, both have an easy to avoid charge, and other than that their attacks are quite slow and easy to move away from (though they will track you if you stay in melee range)
Then just about any champion spider in the open world, slow, telegraphs all attacks, and unless it has a ranged spit.. you can melee it and just circle strafe from melee range without taking too much damage.
And this one is level 55 or something but still fun: The Great Ouou in Timberline Falls: The asura here is a grenade thrower, but throws them at your character’s chest… so do the sidestep thing on the top of the ramp leading down to where he is and his grenades will then miss you and land far enough behind that you will not need worry about aoe

Many many more to be sure, but most all follow the same idea, range, kite, movement, exploit stupid ai, learn their telegraphs (by dying to them usually) and be patient…these things take a long while to die when you’re alone and some classes are a bit better at it than others. But many can be done…some there is no other option though simply because there are too many mechanics too quick involved and 1 class might not have the cripples, reflects, or imobilize (all ignore defiant buff) to counter what the champ is capable of.

Anet, why dont you split PvE and WvW?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Inimicus.7162

Inimicus.7162

WvW first and foremost is PVX, you can do your daily in WvW easily if you just get out of the zerg once in a while.
Also to note it is the hardcore elite of WvW that thinks it’s PVP well they are truly wrong on that. I agree that WvW completion should not be tied to World Completion I also agree that commander tags should cost a bit more but not to be allowed accountbound.

As for balance it’s simple PVE is so unbalanced it’s unreal and the mix of the player VS Player is again balanced to an edge of its life. Anet just need to do a large balance sweep across the board to shift a lot of the top tier classes, hopefully when this large balance feature patch comes it’ll help with the balance issues.

As always with nerfs they actually broke all the contenders to other “top teir” classes when any number of nerfs made things slightly too weak to stand up, broke traits/utilities etcetc… ranger longbows, so many, many engi traits and so much more…the list goes on and most all of them were caused by some nerf or other

Change Auto-targeting

Inimicus.7162

A second targeting mode that gave you cross hairs and allowed you to attack whatever direction you were facing would pretty much make this game AMAZING for me. =D

This does exist but it’s hidden, clunky and generally not worth trying… if you auto fire a ranged weapon without a target, the game lines up the shot with your camera position and your character’s chest to make an old fashioned “iron sights” line up. Problem is that the camera has mobility issues with walls and ground and your view for such shots is limited further by any bushes and other such things the camera can move through but not look through

Change Auto-targeting

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Actually the thing needs a hierarchy of preference and a properly functional “target nearest”

Target nearest should actually mean nearest, not whats nearest in some portion of your screen, game has a distance measuring mechanic, USE IT.

And hostiles should ALWAYS gain target preference no matter what you are using…I agree, I can’t think of any reason someone would need to break target on a hostile and pwn a dear so bad… The only times I’ve ever had to go there is to get a cheap rally and I guarantee their auto target will never ever pick that deer for you in that situation.

So hostiles above all no matter what, if none then yellow, if none than ambients because them buggers are just about never auto-targetable.

NPC says: Stand here in this village for 6 minutes and defend against waves containing 3 risen thralls that spawn once each minute. I will reward you with a princely sum of one silver and couple hundred karma!
Um, no thanks.

yea those events are quite stupid… a number of waves or a “health bar” of how many mobs remaining makes better sense in most of those imo

well they did sit on this one and basically ignore gw1 for about 4 years before the betas fired up iirc

Yeah… except for War in Kryta, Hearts of the North, Winds of Change, Embark Beach, z-quests (mission, pvp, vanquish, bounty), Langmar quests, profession overhauls and so on.

Which is basically more than they released between Prophecies – Factions – Nightfall – Eye of the North put together.

Fairly sure those were all in existance before i took a year’s break from gw1 to try a different game, they certainly were not added in the 2 years or so i spent back in gw1 before gw2 released

And lest we forget, gw2 was announced not too long after eotn, so they were sitting on it for a very long time regardless of whether i recall dates correctly :P

Actually, they hamstrung themselves pretty well over the flamekissed thing. They acknowledge that the intent was to use the mesh, they screwed people who paid real money, they sat on it for 2 months instead of getting the refunds in right away, the replacement was atrocious, false to their own original “intent” and a very poorly chosen set, all while releasing these new weapons with hearts all over them…

I think a lot of people are going to be avoiding them gem store for quite a while over the fact that a few gripes can cost you, the player real money. A trust issue like this is what costs companies money and players in the long term more so than any nerfs.

Dead events everywhere!

Technically, if the event actually “Fails” then the design is working properly. Dead npcs mean exp for reviving them, and likely credit towards any nearby hearts. Most events scale down to where 1 player should be capable of finishing them (unless marked for group, then it takes some doing), and so long as the event chain itself doesn’t quit moving (which happens) it will come back within half an hour (far less usually).

As stated above though, all you can really do for some is call them out in map or guild chat, find a server with a little more population as these will always have someone else in the zone for harvesting at minimum… or move on to the next event in some cases, as heartbreaking at that often is. :/

now theyre going to be reworking armors, runes, and sigils. This is something that shouldve happened before launch.

If they were going to hold off a game until it was at perfect balance they would never release anything at all.

Balancing takes time, and it changes with every release, so either they will have to spend years for balance and never add anything at all after the game is released, or they would have to use the current system.

They have randomly re-released old gem store items like that in the past… I don’t really get why they haven’t gone ahead and dropped those onto the black lion weapon merchants, or don’t rotate them in more often… my personal favorite was Rox’s Quiver, because it is a quiver, and it isn’t made to be worn on pretty boys like Orlando Bloom (sorry, legolas was kinda underwhelming)

What is going on with fractals?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Inimicus.7162

Inimicus.7162

Both Izzy and Chris had said during CDI’s (and one developer livestream) that they meant to talk about loss of fractal levels for us as well as the issues with fractals in general (and lack of improvements), but they had to “think about it some more”. That was shortly after fractured was released. To my knowledge they haven’t spoken about it again.

Fractals was something I truly enjoyed. I would run them just for the fun of running them. Fractured ruined that for me.

First, Fractured took my fractal levels for supposed “leaderboards” that are still not implemented.

I used to get a new infused ring about 50% of the time when doing fractals levels above 26…and never a non-infused ring above 26, now, I have actually only gotten non-infused rings regardless of level…and probably only 1 out of 4 runs. And even the infused rings no longer have the +5 AR, instead you have to grind out fractals to get one to put into it.

I used to get a fractal weapon about 1 out of 4 tries on a 30+…with higher percentages when doing 48s. Now I have not gotten a single one in any try…and I actually don’t know anyone that did…I kinda think Fractal weapon skins are a myth.

They said there would be weapon boxes to choose the stats of your weapons, then they admitted those are not yet in the game

They said that as soon as ascended armor was released, it would be in fractals, then admitted that it would not be until higher levels that are currently released.

They had said that they were tweaking all the fractal levels to make each only last 15-20 minutes so that a full run of 4 could be done in 1 hour to 1.5 hours….yet actually increased the time sink with several fractals so that now these take even longer.

They said that the rewards would be increased to make fractals more in line with dungeons with a reward / vs / time allotment. Yet, we discover that even doing a level 48 fractal run that could have taken 3 hours only gives 1.5 gold….equal to a 10 minute run of COF or HOTW or AC….and as I mentioned above, fractal weapons and infused rings drops were decreased (as well as the fact that you can now get non-infused rings above 26).

I’ve stopped doing fractals. After having done 2000 or so pre-patch and having every single achievement pre-patch…I dont do them anymore.

In all, I still consider Fractured the absolute worst update this game has done, and if there was one thing that killed a lot of my enthusiasm for the game it was this update and the lack of all responses (80 or so pages of people discussing in multiple threads, yet no responses).

Even with the CDI, the devs still need to earn back my trust from this one single update…it threw a negative spin on everything they have said after it in my mind. And I am still dissapointed by the lack of any feedback.

Pointing out that fractal level 39’s mistlock is freaking epic, but it’s the kind of thing that will drag a run out for several hours more than a level 38 and yield loot none better for the extra time. I’ve gotten a fractal weapon (feel jipped, it was that pistol that i personally really don’t like), and finally got my first asceneded box ever after doing the monkey go’round on meta bosses, camping teq for 2 hours+ to be in on home server’s instance and the fractals… yea, trash or fix dredge and cliffside…or up that loot drastically to make up for the time being spent here. Currently I can make more raw cash in 2 paths of AC, make it faster than a single 30+ fractal run, and be moving on or even possibly finishing a third short dungeon path before the same group in the fractals has crawled out of the finish on the 4th fractal.

I keep reading this, expression I guess to call it. People keep saying that GW2 is not alt friendly? How can that be? If the game was friendly for your “main” how is it not for an alt?!? Call me a noob, idiot what ever. Just someone explain this to me. I have 14 characters…. The game is just fun on each of my 13 “alts” as it was on my first character.

Maybe I don’t know what Alts are. I’m gonna go with that….

I don’t know how well your main and alts are, but try gearing all of them in Ascended gear – trinkets, rings, amulets, armor, weapons.

For me, it’s not even the cost of mats. Yes, it’s expensive, but I make enough gold doing dungeons so it evens out. My main bottle neck is 1) having to level up EVERY crafting profession if you have light, medium and heavy alts and 2) dragonite. I kittening hate farming dragonite. I hate open world events with a passion, and I hate that being forced to do this so much so that I stopped playing my alts altogether.

MY GOD, another player who feels like I do on this front speaks up!

So far every event has been about Weapon Skins, well a lot of people would really enjoy armor skins also…

Armor skins would be nice, but they won’t even let the devs spend time on fixing current clipping issues. I doubt they would be given enough time to get new armor sets done properly.

They never have fixed graphic issues the game launched with like female norn’s shoulder meshing issues, the way long, flowing hair clips into your body, hangs though your body, let alone your gear…lest we forget, only a few of all the meta achievments have brought rewards of a back item only, and then here, these last few months they have been in damage control mode because they screwed up 3 or 4 different times over an armor skin… while i would love to see more, even some gotten without the gem store, i imagine it isnt going to happen…and i find that what talent created some of the best armors in game now seem to have vanished before they started loading skins into the gem store because they have not put out a single unique, non-redo skin that has made me super excited to buy in it’s entirety

healing signet is so strong that the warrior does not have to sacrifice DPS for it. Sure other professions can get better regen , but they have to sacrifice their damage. This is why it is over powered.

I see your point, but for the avarage warrior, it’s not that noticable. I mean sure, I see warriors do really good in pvp and wvw, but warriors gets whacked around all the time. So even if they dont need to sacrifice dps, they still die. I admit Im not the best warrior around yet, but for me the regen isnt giving me an unbelievable advantage, at best it makes me stay alive long enough to hope to win.

And besides, all classes have advantages and disadvantages. Warrior isnt an elitist class that everyone choose because its OP. If they want certain wins, they choose thieves or Mesmer.

It’s about the active ability. Currently the passive is so strong that there is no point in using the active side of the signet. You would actually be wasting health in doing so.

This thread, from what i could tell, is about berserker signet warriors – I’m not sure how that nerf in that niche is breaking the game.

Because the crit nerf hits everyone across the board, and some investments (assassins especially, but also celestial gear) are getting hit far harder. So not only warriors are losing damage, the entire group, of any group is going to have to make up the difference. Also to the same point, the nerf is across the board, and nobody else at all is getting any kind of buff to compensate.

As to healing sig… I disagree that it is overpowered, I can’t say I have ever thrown Healing Surge to the wayside in favor of the sig… To the extent that the warrior doesn’t sacrifice dps to get the effect, fair enough…that shouldn’t be too hard to nerf. But the every time I personally encountered conditions on my warrior, that thing typically means guaranteed death (because it is never just 1, especially anymore).
They want people to use it’s active? Fair enough, but they need to also take a good long look at the ranger’s signet skills too because any of those you put on you do not activate for any reason at all (all the effects of sig active only effect your dead pet…oh, sorry your 3 shots and then dead pet), so in spite of the particular effect of regen, having no need, or indeed screwing yourself over for activating the signet is nothing new here at all.

In that case all people that bought or wanted flamekissed medium or heavy would have flamed that its not fair and they want also better stuff or the light also needs to be as ugly as medium / heavy

I see so many people being digged in for this ‘war’. The simple fact is that Anet decided to do this months ago. They didn’t change their position ever since then and it sure doesn’t look like they are going to change it now.

Dug in for this ‘war’ because real money was involved, those who paid got robbed. That’s all it is, the skin has no other possible, full replacement currently existing in the game, so offering back our gems is giving us money back that there is no reason to believe will ever buy us something to actually replace what was taken. We payed real money initially on trust, violated… we paid for something that was taken. We hung around and quieted down mostly because some of us thought there was a possibility that their art department was going to release something exactly like what they, themselves said was the original intent, their people told us they thought we might like it. It was all lies, and yes…something true can be turned false by outside influences. This is why this is on fire once again, this time anet has nobody to really answer to, as they are legally padded from all recourse, the people who caused anet’s reaction that turned a trusted purchase into a bait and switch (they still have our money and will not return it in spite of clearly not making good on any promise regarding this stuff), and now they are only moderating the forums to shuffle stuff around and attempt to clean up some of the outrage at those who have been lied to, and the trolling from those who got us robbed in the first place. Only further worsened that they released this new thing with a boatload of other new skins, though circumstantial…it highly suggests that the redo for customers who’s money they already had was not even very important to them. A war? Well, they don’t seem too bothered with letting it carry on and I assume they are probably going to not say anything until it goes away… which is wrong, the people who paid money are left out in the cold, we are not as important to them as those who only had some artistic claim that human t3 was exclusive (lies, asuran npcs wear it too) and that getting it by gems was unfair…fine, at that time i would have needed about 1000 gems for a t3 culture set from any race…that’s legit and i have no reason for game gold for my original skin back being put back on the table. But most of us just want some acknowledgment that we were screwed harder than those who wanted their not-so-special armor kept in some sacred lock-box, and some like me want a more proper compensation since the skin i was robbed of is absolutely peerless in form, whether you like the looks or not.

I challenge anyone to find something that looks like human t3 or flamekissed anywhere else in the game that I can get it, show me a screenshot or a wiki page. You may not like the look yourself, but I think you will not find one that a player can wear. And aside from being screwed and left to shiver for 2 months, If you find the armor set or mix that carries the same style aesthetics, in light armor, that I can buy, that does not include human t3 (this is for norns in my case), screenie it, tell me where and what and I’ll leave this thing to die because the aesthetics and feel of the overall look is all I really wanted in the first place.

I’ll ask again, and explain more bout my motives for asking.
’Can I ask a question to those who liked the old flamekissed armor??
What would you find a fair solution?
And do not say, to keep the old skin. ’

I see so many people being digged in for this ‘war’. The simple fact is that Anet decided to do this months ago. They didn’t change their position ever since then and it sure doesn’t look like they are going to change it now.

So wether you like it or not. You won’t get the old skin back (atleast not cause you paid with gems). I don’t mind. I personally find the T3 armor ugly. I found the old flamekissed skin ugly. So I don’t care at all. I’m an outsider in this discussion. The reason I am reacting is that I see so many people wasting energy on something that is clearly not going to change.

That is why I’m asking you to use that energy in a positive way. Instead of digging deeper in, how do you think this could be solved in a way that would be (somewhat) sattisfying for you. Use this energy to find a solution instead of digging deeper into the bunkers, while nothing is going to change in the end. In my previous post I think I gave a good start of what I think would be a solution

Again, If i can’t have it back outright, it needs to be stated quite clearly and quickly that a new, permanent merchant will be put in place where the old skin can be bought at the same price in game gold as any other t3 armor. We all see it for what it is, I simply want it announced fast because when/if my refunds come in I would be using them to pay down some of those costs.

But a merchant, in LA, or even standing next to the ones in DR, selling the human t3 flamekissed variant to any race at the normal 119g/set cost of all other t3 would be perfectly acceptable, and would put this to bed well enough for me.

And if not that, the two pieces that are absolutely irreplaceable from that set are the leggings and the shoulders, which can be mixed with some other armor sets (winged is my personal favorite for the mixing, though it would need tweaks for meshing issues), so even if not a carbon copy, it can’t be that hard to change just a few things off the existing legs/shoulders without ruining the overall effect of the design.. (as was their officially stated, original “intentions” when flamekissing the human t3 light).

But my definite preference on the permanent merchant idea with an expandable inventory of other reskinned (or not) cultural, crafted and dropped skins and hopefully some new ones for coin.

Can I ask a question to those who liked the old flamekissed armor??
What would you find a fair solution?

The ship on “fair” sailed when they decided to completely ignore one segment of the population in their decision to take the armor away from people who bought it to appease another group of people. And it sank when they continued to ignore the people they took the armor away from during the development of the “really nice” armor with “new art” (bolding theirs) that they said they were going to replace it with.

But, to ease some of the resentment at having done so they could:

1) Acknowledge that the people who are disgruntled have a reason to be so.
2) Apologize.
3) Ensure that they compensate those that were affected for collateral losses that the change caused whether they keep the armor or not.
4) Engage in a dialogue regarding attributes of the replacement armor such as:
- the effectless gem in the center of the headpiece
- the shoulder piece clipping/placement issue reported by norn players (which may be an issue for sylvari as well)
- the pink effect on the knees of the boots that doesn’t seem to match the other effects on the armor and looks like the effects on the Bloody Prince Staff, Modnir Quarterstaff and Eye of Rodgort
- the bottom fringe of the chest piece that, on female humans and sylvari at least, doesn’t appear to have been re-skinned and dyes differently than the rest of the piece, looking especially brown with dark red dyes.
- They don’t need to jump on these like a set of commands, but at least talk to us about these kinds of things and give the armor another QA pass or two to make the best of it.

I’m keeping it because there isn’t a better replacement for it for a fire themed sylvari elementalist and probably won’t ever be. But it is a clear downgrade over what it was. So it doesn’t seem unreasonable that they at least try to lessen that downgrade as much as possible. They make changes to armor and other items to address issues and improve them all the time.

And do not say, to keep the old skin. This was griefing many players who bought t3 cultural armor so thats not an option.

The reason I’m asking is that it is in my opinion time to stop crying over something that’s not going to change, but to think of solutions that might give Anet idea’s.

There is no reason to dictate what is or isn’t an option. If people think keeping the old one is the fair solution, they have a right to express that. And there is no reason to characterize their legitimate complaints as “crying.” It is an attack and doesn’t encourage a reasonable response. Whether it changes or not, people affected should express clearly how they feel about it.

Technically the ship on “fair” sailed when only the light armor was a t3 skin redux, I think this was a part of mistake number one, which was the fact it was released at all originally.
As for “crying” yes, it isn’t a good word for sparking fair debate, but I point out that particular bit of “fair” left port and sank somewhere when real money (micro transaction based gem store… it’s how i purchased it) got involved and promises of a reskin turned out something so blatantly against what they themselves said was the original intent of the design… I don’t have a better way to describe what I honestly think of people who didn’t pay real money, but still cost me mine because thanks to them, I am not getting what i paid for, and there is no substitute that even begins to approach the quality of what was taken from me as a result of their own rage filled forum posts, and the trolling so many of them still engage in whenever this topic arises.

If you have a female human character, take the t3 light legs/shoulders, and winged boots/gloves/chest and either the blindfold, feathered head thing (probably the only piece of that set I have no issue with by art or mesh interaction functions), or the human t3 head piece. I spent the last two months knowing for fact that this thing would turn out like it has, but that armor mix is a thing of beauty on human, and looked as though it could have worked on norns too in spite of all the meshing issues… The way other posts and the original official response read, the highest hope I had was the the set would turn out looking something like the one here… just on a norn

And to compare to previous posts: It’s a human, and thus a facial expression that reeks of “Don’t talk to me without my express permission” is basically impossible. But: the armor is both covering and revealing at the same time, with any number of dye combos it looks perfectly “fantasy noble/royal gladiatrix-warrior” or “battle mage” type, even though the set does include it, you have to sit there and try rather hard to see the plumber’s crack through the ornamentation on the leggings. (Being honest, but i doubt it could be covered any other way without compromising something else). The entire set is very heavily ornamented in fact, as those leggings on the “winged” armor are by far the least ornamented item on the entire set (because the hood is quite small, so much more empty space on the leggings), thus replaced with the heavily ornamented human t3. Before getting flamekissed, a human ele i had (because light armor options on norns were and are again just that heart breaking) wearing similar but with CoF shoulders instead (these things turn into parachutes on norn females) and it was quite the look for an elementalist.

EDIT The eyes on that necro are from the started headgear “Wraith Mask” and looks way better on norns in my opinion
