But yea, send a support ticket, this sounds like something they might be able to fix

That being said, Cultural should never have meant “racist s***” and should have just meant “In the style of” but w/e…

That also being said, I know it’s too much to hope for… kinda like my flamekissed redo being worthwhile, like hoping my assassins ascended doesn’t become totally marginalized by the crit damage penalty… all too much to hope for.

Anyone ever go look at the stats on SPvP armor? I think that stuff has it right.
Anyone ever go look at the stats on GW1 armor? I think that stuff has it right.

GW1 was built better for this…why?
It’s easier to replace a nerfed build thats made almost chiefly around skills. In GW1 you didn’t have to look far to find a skill.
In GW2, a nerfed build means also replacing your armor. Before December, that was annoying. But only annoying. Come Ascended armor crafting, and whoa buddy… their current streak of wtf has me looking at the same kind of prison-like cavity stretching session they gave me with flamekissed armor, except that oddly, one set of ascended armor is worth more after price conversions and such than all 7 of my now gone-forever flamekissed armor sets (new flaming feathers is flamekissed armor as much as jarjar binks was the real star wars.)

Yep, that’s what most zerkers say atm. All they’re doing is making us even more “elitist”. Poor casuals getting kicked even more… lol

So which stat would you choose instead of zerker?

pre-ferocity nerf zerk. pre-ferocity nerf assassins… oh wait, you think this is going to change the zerk meta?
/sarcasm

They are slowing down zerkers and hurting a few others in the process… they are NOT taking away the need for zerk gear, if anything they are making that need more pressing.

Celestial after the patch

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Inimicus.7162

So I decided to run some numbers after reading the critical damage blog post. I know what the majority of responses will be to this. After the patch, crit damage will be replaced with ferocity, and celestial gear will receive a 6% boost to it’s current stats. Due to rounding, I will post a low and high possible value. This is done using ascended quality.

Slot – original value – new low value – new high value

Helm —-——- 21 – 22 – 23
Shoulder —- 16 – 17 – 18
Chest —-—— 47 – 48 – 49
Glove —-—— 16 – 17 – 18
Pants —-——- 31 – 32 – 33
Boots —-—— 16 – 17 – 18
Amulet —-— 54 – 57 – 58
Ring —-——— 43 – 45 – 46
Ring —-——— 43 – 45 – 46
Earring —-— 38 – 40 – 41
Earring —-— 38 – 40 – 41
Back —-——- 22 – 23 – 24
1hander —- 42 – 44 – 45
2hander —- 83 – 87 – 88

Total with 1 handers = 469 – 491 – 505
Total with 2 handers = 468 – 490 – 503

The blog post says at level 80, it will take 15 ferocity to get 1% crit damage. With this in mind the new crit damage according to my numbers will be somewhere between 33.53% and 33.66%. This is in stark contrast to the old 62%. We are losing about 30% crit damage. However, all of the other stats combined are giving 36% more than before.

You may now commence discussion, comments, rage, and other activities.

My problem with this is I used the gem shop and rl money to make a fully ascended celes set with the intent for VERY high crit damage.

So I now no longer have what i purchased – I have something totally different.

Will Anet be giving people like me either a refund or the ability of a 1 time change on celes to a different stat set?

I think anything less would be insulting.

I hope they treat you better than they did me when they sold me human t3 flamekissed, lied a few times, left me to sit and shiver the change for two months with not one word about it, then gave me the worst armor reskin possible, ignored my requests for transmutation splitters to recover a couple pieces of actual human t3 armor that got lost in the process (had to spend my refund on that kind of thing), and generally just don’t speak that it ever happened before.

What really saddens me…I’m about to take the hit again because I chose assassin’s armor which is basically in the exact same boat as your celestial gear

Thanks for the help about the Magellan memento. I haven’t explored that area yet even though I already finished all the jumping puzzles. Unfortunately, it didn’t give me area completion but rather just an achievement point for reaching the chest.

Yup, mine happened to be that one, I only uncovered it because I decided to go hunting those explorer achievements, was quite a shock when the shiverpeaks explorer popped up finished. My most educated guess is that yours is something similar

Zerker build has ruined this game !

Inimicus.7162

Zerker isn’t the problem, it is a symptom.

+1
this.

The real problem is that the other given options do not yield enough return for the loss of damage…. If you’re going to be 1-shot when you don’t dodge, it will happen no matter what gear you’re in… pray for aegis, pray for block and dodge not a single one of those comes off your armor.

Consider real life, you’re at your favorite watering hole and then suddenly, somebody’s about to put a bullet into your head. That’s a 1 shot people… you can not tank that bullet. You either gotta take them out first, or dodge like hell.
This is the core of the current situation, any hit that doesn’t 1 shot you in the game, is something that pretty much anyone, zerk, soldier or anything in between will be able to absorb, but that also means, it will only take longer, and more people will be exposed to 1-shots (especially if someone winds up needing a rez) the longer the fight has to take. Kill it first, this is the zerker thing.

To properly fix this issue forever: Make all armors like GW1 or SPvP at best. It’s got armor… and in GW1 you took penalties on your energy pool and energy regen if you ran around naked, but otherwise it just had armor. And the stats you could add to it weren’t huge, but they could be used for empowering specific builds. Weapons were exactly the same. SPvP uses a very similar system… and it removes the entire mess from the player’s hands. Anet would then only have to go through and clean up all the spare junk (15 different names for armor recipes based on stats, adjusting mobs to the new lack of stats, etc..)

To Jury-rig the current system the best way possible: Make toughness a true and viable counter to these attacks that 1 shot people right now. As in, a maxed toughness player should be able to take 2 or 3 of the current 1 shot moves in a row without getting downed, and without needing to dodge otherwise. This would level the playfield for armor types that carry toughness with those that carry zerk… Of course, This too could serve to make the zerk elitism worse for the extra time it takes… and it leaves multiple gear choices out completely, but it preserves the current ever-expanding cluster **** of armor stat mixes…

Give zerker gear chance for a stat change

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Inimicus.7162

Why? There’s still no better option than berserker atm when it comes to DPS. This only means zerker players will need to drink more coffee to stay awake since every fight is going to take so much loooonger now.

People with assassin’s or others affected by the change should be able to get the change to another stat.

This is all it would take to please me, they are taking a swipe at zerker, but there are other stats that are going to be hit far far worse that they have yet to call out by name, and i kinda wonder if they know those stats exist at all (after all, they didn’t see the December flamekissed thing until after a forum rage…then suddenly they realized it looked too much like the human t3 and they didn’t mind keeping everyone’s money while they picked the single worst light armor skin in the whole game to replace it with)

My characters all have assassin’s pieces mixed in with zerk so I know where you’re coming from. While I don’t have to replace the whole sets it still sucks. And all that to appease the whiners who never played in zerker before anyway. Funny thing is, it’s going to do the opposite. Now there’s no more room to carry tanks in dungeons and more gearchecks will be made.

That’s what people are failing to see in the whole “zerk is bad” argument… the defensive stats they cling to are not actually helping them, because those stats are not powerful enough to stop the things that will 1-shot anyone, anway. So the whole damage nerf here is only going to make things worse in the short and long term for the players and arenanet. The conversion idea is whatever, but hitting a damage stat at the same time is taking too far and doing it without nearly enough apparent consideration to why people get elitist and perform gear checks.

Reducing the power of gear people spent real time and money to build is something Blizzard understood very well to NEVER do again. Early through their first expansion they decided to “nerf” epic crafted sets that millions of people invested money and time to build. The community uproar was so massive, it prompted them to reverse their decision very quickly.

I’m curious to see how the Guild Wars 2 community will absorb this one.

Same as they did with Flamekissed armor… give into the whiners, ignore all other repercussions because they are protected from being made to give any compensations beyond what they alone decide is worth giving, and they aren’t bound to give anything specific (beyond my $70 for the skins themselves, I lost several pieces of full t3 armor because they ignored my requests for transmutation splitters to get it back). And they lied to us who bought it and people like me were forced to spend our “refund” undoing that horrid mess they left us with… They handled the whole thing poorly, and now they are about to do it again, giving people like me plenty of fuel to bring that chapter of their history back up… something they could stop by making a few announcements of the specifics…but they don’t.

Indeed, with this they only appeared to make a consideration for celestial gear because enough people took to the forums about it, I’ve spent all day trying to drum up some support for my Assassin’s gear, and a handful of others want to hear something about their Valkyrie and Cavalier gear. I can’t speak for them, but this feels like Flamekissed scam redux material to me, and once again they are aiming at something that isn’t easy to get in the first place, and is only worse to have to get again. Ascended armors, if they never put that tier of anything into this game, this would be a non-issue, but since I now have 1000g worth of 2 full ascended sets and half of that being an investment that’s looking at being nerfed to obscurity…yup, one kittened customer right here. They didn’t learn, I doubt they will see it in time here either.

No, knight’s gear will be 100% unaffected by this change… as far as I know, they are only changing crit damage via gear (I have not heard them say the base crit damage bonus is being altered). Only armors who currently sport “+% critical damage” mods will be hit by this, so the guy is knight’s will fare better than the one who paid out the wazoo for those cavalier’s insignias

So if I get this right – running high precision is actually going to hurt your build now if you’re a hybrid.

So – say someone was running Knight’s with zerker accesories – he would now be better off running Cavalier’s with the same accesories?

It’s not precision itself that’s about to take the beating. It’s the crit damage itself. High precision builds are meant to be used to proc on-crit effects, where it’s going to sting is when the gear/builds can’t make up any of the loss to crit damage with POWER. This is why zerk is taking a damage hit, but is going to stay the meta, and why other gear, Assassins (precision, power, crit) is going to be hit the hardes, and Valk/cavalier (power/vitality/crit, and power/toughness/crit) are going to take quite a beating too. In the assassin’s gear case, the on crit procs were part of the magic, but you could easily push your crit bonus damage to be 2-2.5 time higher than a normal hit, so real high precision was meant to make up for the lack of power (which multiplies better than raw crit damage). So builds that don’t have power to make up for the crit damage nerf are going to be left hurting. Valkyrie/Cavalier sets don’t crit as often (no precision), and instead bring a defensive mod to the mix, so they are hit in an oblique but still painful way, they cause crits at the same rate, but now they will not have as much on-crit hit strength to make up for other loss of damage (as in, more crits from the precision they gave up for the other stats).

It all suddenly makes sense now. The Scarlet kill was so unspectacular, not special, where was my GW1 campaign end party?
They are making weirdly sweeping changes to things that may be important, but they leave out gripes that large portions of their player base have had since launch.
They are attempting to kill the “zerk meta” by randomly hammering crit damage and do not appear to have given any actual consideration to anything beyond Berserker’s stats (assassins is mine, but valk, etc too), they didn’t consider making toughness work on all the things that make toughness obsolete in pve (1 shot mechancis out the wazoo…thats all they need to do to make toughness worthwhile in pve… make the survivability it grants equal to the cost of the speed of a zerker kill). Most of their announced blog posts look like selling point merchant BS rather than anything useful… yes, TESO comes out in April? I can see that being a spur in their butts to get off the living story, problem is instead of cleaning up their old messes which Funcom’s age of conan only proved such things to linger, and fester and only slowly get worse as they begin to come back to haunt the devs… they go with more more more new stuff…

Real innovative there anet, welcome to the same old hole that killed every other game with solid ground workings… sometimes you gotta quit looking forward so you can look down to fix the floor beneath your feet.

Instead of visiting some 3 hour boredom and drama fest other games call “raids” they made the game so you are somewhat free to do whatever you want to chase the stuff you need for that next shiny bauble.

I agree with the dungeon thing though, the whole thing stinks of sad… some of those instances are quite fun, and sometimes the things to fight that are just a little off the beaten path add flavor that most people don’t seem to have the time to care about.

Ferocity: A Failed "Solution"

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Inimicus.7162

Inimicus.7162

The solution “may” work in PvE but it isn’t needed in WvW (go figure it isn’t touched in PvP)

When you take 2 equal classes and place one in zerker gear and the other in PVT gear, the PVT gear out damages the zerker geared player. Can anyone not see the problem with this? Zerker doesn’t need a nerf, if anything it needs to be buffed (or at least buffed in how it reacts with other players).

Either that, players who run toughness/vitality builds should take a major dps hit once their toughness and vitality reach a certain threshold.

The problem is when trying to balance something like this, it actually makes the balance much worse somewhere else. The game in it’s current state is more balanced with crit damage sitting the way it is.

They also have to take into consideration that other classes take a bigger hit with this nerf. Take the Ranger for example, their pet also takes a hit, so in essence there are 2 entities taking a crit damage nerf.. not just 1.

If Anet’s claim is true that it’s a 10% damage nerf across the board for zerker.. what does that mean for the pet? Does the pet not also take a crit damage nerf as well? They are responsible for 40% of our dps, so now our 40% dps pet is going to deal even less? Please..

Again, they don’t say enough on the issue at hand and only make it worse for themselves in the long run.
They don’t say anything about making toughness viable against all the things that make it useless in pve… just need to say something on the matter…
All their armor stat woes and weirdness would vanish if they just stripped the stats away. Make it all like GW1/spvp. All problems solved, right there… They would just lose tons of money in the gem store on transmutation crystals every time they choose to abu ghraib their player base with changes like this…

But the real problem is that precision builds are not compensated in any way for this, because 10% damage overall includes damage dealt by non-critical strikes, thus meaning the penalty on critical strike damage is going to increase by a significantly larger margin.

That very much depends on the assumptions they made when saying that “Top DPS builds would lose about 10% damage.” Were they assuming 60% critical chance — which is readily attainable on one’s own? 80% — including Fury? 90%, including banners, spotter and fury? Also, is Ferocity progression going to be linear or on a curve, with top DPS builds losing more than lesser DPS builds (those still slotting exotics, for instance?

You’re making assumptions without knowing the full story. Now, if you want to have a discussion based on a worst-case scenario, pick some figures. Otherwise you’re just wildly speculating.

Which is where their language of silence thing keeps on making their players angry…they could give us a solid number and offer a select-a-stat option when it goes live and all these threads would lose all their momentum, all the venom and vitriol and frustration…but no, they keep quiet. Last time they hit something this kind of expensive it cost me $70 and i would have grabbed that refund RIGHT AWAY and wouldn’t have been left with such a mistrust of them if they had just SAID SOMETHING way sooner. And frankly from the best armor mesh in the game to the very worst after having 2 months to get attached to it (and i had even started to think they might leave it)…. Nope, they where shielded from real reprocussions by legal manuvering and they didn’t learn a thing from the flamekissed experience so now they are just going to do it again. All they would need to do is say what they are basing their numbers on, and maybe a blurb about things like Assassin’s gear which is 100% unnamed by them thus far (once again, my major investments are in on the chopping block here) and they could calm it all and let me plan contengencies now if they just SPOKE. THEY need to COMMUNICATE to keep these things from blowing up like this.

I Don’t want to see the trinity come into gw2, and frankly I think that would be more destructive than anything else they could do. What they could do: strip all stats from pve gear, make the whole game like spvp (or gw1, cause it worked and was basically the same).

Your rune gives you a little, sure…but that’s what you got. Everything else now is 100% skill based, because everyone will now also be put onto a fairly level playfield. That’s why spvp’s system, and GW1’s system that spvp closely resembles never had to have hardcore balance changes…. gw1 skill diversity was where anet struggled to balance, but in gw2 they swapped it. Their armor/weapon stat and traits systems are needlessly complex, and their skill system is needlessly oversimplified.

And frankly, I think it was easier to get over losing your favorite roflpwn build to a nerf (happened to me quite a few times) than it is to keep on having to worry about my freaking expensive armors… That’s proven to be their biggest mistake on this front imo.

It seems that whenever this topic regarding changing stats on ascended armor and the change to Crit Damage comes up many people instantly assumes it’s to do with Berserker’s gear and how people want to change from it because “Berserker’s” is being nerf.

Step back and take a look at what is really going to be changed here which is Crit Damage which means refers to ALL stats combo with Crit Damage and not just berserker’s. People who have opted to go with Cavalier’s, Valkyrie’s and the like will feel that the initial trade offs in offense in comparison to Berserker’s or the trade offs in defense in comparison to Knight’s or Soldier’s is no longer worth it.

Please look at the situation whole fully by considering all gear affected and not just Berserker’s and all game modes that uses PvE gear, that is both PvE and WvW.

You also forget Assassins who this change is aimed directly at, and arenanet has only posted saying “berserker” and never mentioned Assassin’s (zerk’s high-crit sister stat combo that adds precision instead of power…this is going to be hit hardest)

ANet's silence is why so many people leave.

Is a great start if you want to see what the dev are saying. Do you think its best to have them post on every though where would they get the time to work on the game and post over every small thing that has been said over and over?

For more than a year I have let them know that they need a communication manager. They need to put forth a clear concise message that is not subject to the whim of the random developer saying the wrong thing. It has happened MANY times, and the brand of Guild Wars takes the lashing for it. It would do them wonders if they had someone who knew how to communicate to masses in continuity form.

The guild wars brand deserves a lashing for stealing my $70 of flamekissed armor to switch it for something i might have paid them to remove, and all that on the whims of these forums right here.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/news/Flamekissed-Armor-Skin/first#post3275229
At least 1 thing said in this statement was a lie, and likely 2 things.
1) Anyone with working eyeballs could have seen the “human tier 3 resemblance” and stopped it before they put it up for real money… spare me, the gem store is a cash shop with a legal loophole built in to keep them from having to give back real money in events like this.
2) If they planed on using that human t3 mesh, they could very easily have done so in their remake but did not.
Thus leaving me to believe they lied. Or they changed their minds without having said anything, which is a violation of what they implied was the goal, thus a miss truth (a lie).
Now they are about to do the same to my assassin’s gear because they chose to nerf crit when the forums whine about “zerk” and instead of $70, its going to be about 500 gold in damages if i can’t select new stats for said pieces. And they have been totally silent about the Assassin’s gear thus far.

I’m mucking around in this cesspool of a forum to try and prevent another such loss, but the fact that they can’t communicate some level assurance that they didn’t completely overlook something that’s going to be hit harder than their target, the fact that their code of secrecy, and listening to forums instead of money cost me the real deal… These kinds of things are what cost any companies players, and yea…I’m still here, I’m just waiting for something with just a little promise to show before bailing.

Real impact of critical damage changes

If a dev/cc is reading this topic, here is a question.

Why go through all this number crunching trouble and what not. Why didn’t you just remove the base 50% crit damage every player has? Why is that even there? Some other games do this too but it baffles my mind. Why would you grant players in your game a chance to do 50% more damage without any stat investment? If you would have removed that you could have given ferocity the same stat conversion rate as precision. Then a berserker player’s crit chance and crit damage would be exactly the same assuming both having the same numbers then you could have removed the 4% base crit chance while you were at it too..

Crit in general are stupid stats in any game. Imo all games should have crit chance capped at 50% and crit damage capped at doing double damage.. back in ancient times (ancient gaming times) all ‘critical hits’ always did double damage in any game. Why did developers decide it was a good idea to mess with solid concepts?

My solution to crit in this game summed up:

Remove crit damage as a stat and let all crits always do double damage OR allow double damage to be the crit damage cap. so 200% in this game.
Cap crit chance at 50%
Increase base damage/weapon damage range/base power or whatever.
Balance it all out so its still a 10% damage nerf as you wanted.

Now other builds become more viable because crit chance is capped at a low 50 and in the case of my first suggestion for crit damage every player always does double dmg when critting. Players running with say 30% crit instead aren’t doing that less damage than zerk players. Right now difference between zerk and pvt is like waht, 40+%? makes no sense to me at all.. Players who still play zerk perfectly are still rewarded with slightly more damage and slightly faster kills and that is a good thing.. proper play should be rewarded.. but bad play right now is terribly punished because bad players run knights or pvt and do kitten damage.. absolutely kitten damage.. This makes a player like me either wanna do speedclears with only pro zerk people rather than with possibly nice but bad players.. make the consequences for DPS output the skill gap presents smaller while still rewarding better players for playing better and using zerk…

Seems like a good idea to me.. but hey who am I?

Actually this might be a more solid answer to zerk vs other than if they tried to alter toughness to be effective against some of the things that either hit real kitten their own (boss 1 shots, arah trash moves like that chaos storm…), or are used in spikes (dogs in TA) etc… Either way, they are going to find themselves revisiting old content to dumb it down that much farther, but they chose crit damage specifically which is hilarious and frightening at the same time because zerker’s use crit, and they are only on record afaik to change “zerkers” but that build gets its stuff from how crit interacts with power, the other related set Assassins is about to get demolished by this, because it’s all about crit, causing crit, and procing that crit multiplier all the time along with any sigil goodies you could add to it…this they didn’t mention at all, and it’s about to take a much harder nerf lol. That’s scary to someone who’s already lost real money to forum whining, and is looking at losing a 30 laurel and 500 gold investment (via assassin’s ascended armor set) because they answered only to the forums and didn’t actually consider people like me…again

Clicking the chat bubble in the bottom left gives the chat an opaque background and text does not fade out after a set amount of time.

Clicking the Chat Options ‘gear’ gives the option to increase chat text size.

Choosing a larger Interface Size in the graphics options also increases the size of most (if not all) UI text.

this works, I think it’s been a font issue lately, hard to say in the chat bubble, but it still doesn’t help with the auction house window (which is too big for my screen somehow on all but smallest UI size) xD

Give zerker gear chance for a stat change

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Inimicus.7162

Considering zerker gear is still BiS for fastest runs, I’d say no. I don’t get what someone would switch to? They are making zerker gear slightly worse, why would anyone want to switch to something even lower?

Because now I want to heal people with my elementalist considering all those new sweet traits. I can’t afford cleric’s armour.

If you changed to Cleric you’d be asking for a change again before a week.

Zerker is still gonna give the highest possible damage output.
If all of a sudden you wanna change to Cleric you can run AC and alike and get exotic Cleric gear.

I hate the attitude, but this is correct, toughness, vitality, healing etc defensive stats, no matter what the nerf to damage actually works out to be will NEVER be enough to undo the entire play system they have built upon for 1.5 years now… You do not get enough return on any of the defensive stats to make up for killing slower, in fact the damage from the individual and the group running defense stats can easily make a fight take twice as long as it should, which means twice the number of invulnerable phases for the boss, twice the number of chances at catching a 1-shot that no armor in the game can protect against anyway… The only way to make them viable would have to be making them have effect on otherwise 1-shot abilities… CoE Alpha’s red rings of death, pretty much every move Lupi does, the crusher’s one-ton smash, adelburn’s foefire, priest of grenth’s “WHOA IMMA TELE YOU OVER THERE”, the gears from the aetherblade path’s clockheart… when toughness etc can answer to these moves, then it becomes viable. Until then, kill it quicker because no amount of defensive armor is going to buy you enough time.

or that 10% figure arena-net gave us was a lie.

They have told such lies before:

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/news/Flamekissed-Armor-Skin/first#post3275229

Although the Flamekissed Armor uses the same mesh as the Tier 3 Human Cultural Armor, it was not our intention to create an armor skin that so closely matched the existing Tier 3 Human Cultural armor set. The intention was to use the mesh as a basis for creating an armor set that stands apart and is distinct in appearance. However, after reading your feedback, we agree that the Flamekissed armor is not visually distinct enough from Human Cultural Tier 3 armor.

We will make new art for the Flamekissed Armor Skin that achieves our goal of making a visually distinct and attractive armor set and does not closely resemble the Human Tier 3 Cultural armor.

That from Regina Buenaobra… and at least 1 point of those statements is a bold faced lie.

Just pointing out, they have a history on record of saying things that don’t pan out.
1) If anyone with functioning eyeballs had looked at the original flamekissed set, they could have stopped it from hitting the gem store
2) If their original plan was to use the human t3 mesh, why did they not try again?

One of those two statements is a lie, if not both. Flamekissed ain’t coming back, but they are on record caught in at least 1 lie right there. (A lie can be made of truth when you go back on what you said btw). Crit damage? Zerk is here to stay, and they are really only about to screw the damage up for other builds… and the entire Assassin’s set which they have not named at all anywhere in their posts i should mention. Another major change effecting really expensive gear and nothing specific enough out of them yet to help me believe.

WvW towers/keeps are meaningless to anyone who doesn’t visit WvW map. Also, they don’t display which guild was the capturing guild. We’re a nameless zerg with a server name attached to us. I want everyone to see that my guild just took the castle, or even let us take over and tax the PvE map’s settlements, like Beetletun or Fort Salma, or the Trading Post.

I get you, believe me. Something that I wondered about, is IF at this point, they implement the GUILD WARS part of Guild Wars, one possible GvG option would be larger than a team of 5-8, and could involve 2 large guilds going at it in a siege-type situation for who gets to put their emblem and name on a location pve players frequent. They could borrow some from GW Factions: HzH and Cavalon were the biggest, most important places, only the biggest alliances could hold them thus. But it can get smaller than even that, the monstary in queensdale? Specific locations in some hub cities? The Town of Naegling… :P
Where even if it was instanced off elsewhere to keep such an event from causing a pve issue, the change to the town would not have to be huge, as they can already change banners and labels as seen in heart quests and wvw. Just a spit ball idea, but I get where you’re coming from.

Runes, sigils and skins.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Inimicus.7162

Not saying this would work or that it is even a good idea, but what if runes, sigils, and all the prefixes (berserker, rabid, cleric, etc.) had the same idea as “dyes”. Once purchased or discovered (via crafting or breaking down items) they are unlocked on that character to use freely. I myself always feel like i’m constantly changing my out my gear based on what builds I want to play with and it gets expensive. If “better” builds are based on how much gold you have and how expensive the runes and sigils are to get for those builds, you basically invest into a build and are locked into using it because of the cost regardless if it gets nerfed/changes/you change your mind. Why should any build be based around how much gold you are willing to spend anyways, you should have the creative freedom to experiment freely (asurans would agree). IF those items are unlocked to use freely, it opens the doors to having fun with build experimenting which is what the original Guild Wars had going for it but by doing so with a massive amount of skill combinations you could change. I have used PvP to test out builds for free but its not the same situations you face in PvE/WvWvW/Fractals etc. and there is runes, sigils and armor stats you don’t have access to in PvP that are in PvE as well.

Also I feel like the skins (not the items with stats) you earned from being at the living stories or events in the game should be the same way, these are cosmetic items that you earned by participation, why are they limited to a one time use? They should be unlimited to use creatively on all your characters for fun. I liked the way the original Guild Wars did it where if you were at a event and earned a mask you could always go back and get another one at any time once it was unlocked. What do other players think of this?

So it was in GW1 pvp. The unlocks were could be done via pve, but the infinite was only available through pvp which was 100% separate from gw1 pve.
Dyes weren’t even character bound in gw1 though, 1 use per vial of dye…got ugly fast on sets of armor
Event items had a different system where you had to be at the event, (Historical Achievements much) and several years in they finally added a vendor who you could show the item to (hats in gw1) and rebuy any you showed from thereafter. Here they have the claim spot for radiant/hellfire/zenith and they can look at your Historical achievements to see which metas you finished, rather than having you run around and chase some weird random merchant. Would have been better if they carbon copied the idea of Nick the Traveler from GW1 and just renamed him, rather than tying in all the old stuff (the very best of which wasn’t even achievement gain, it was black lion chest stuff…before any notion of claim tickets was added, and the jetpack was luck of the gods rng from the one temporary dungeon that they smashed into 2 junk fractals…who skip the best parts of the molten facility i might add)

What slays me about this whole thing is that it was announced now… it’s way too late for the overwhelming majority of my previous living world stuff, so this whole merchant is just another great big “Suck to be you Inimicus” from anet. They really should have just put the old rewards into the achievements window alongside the radiant/hellfire and zenith weapons… Thing even keeps track of “Historical” achievment gains, so it isn’t like they can’t figure out who was where and did what.

And what about celestial ? MF dissapeared and critital take a lot harder hit than on zerker gear…

And what about assassin’s gear? They are only changing crit damage, and assassins is zerk that traded power for high crit chance/crit damage…thus mine is about to take an even harder nerf than your zerk…just because they see people gripe about zerk all the time, so as yet, they have officially ignored all questions regarding gear like mine… If anyone needs a select-a-stat option, its going to be people like me who built an entire ascended armor set (and the laurels, and the mats) and are looking down the barrel of more than just some 10% nerf.

Ferocity: A Failed "Solution"

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Inimicus.7162

Inimicus.7162

This “solution” only makes the problem worse and doesn’t actually do anything about the real problem.

You’re kinda overreacting to a very limited information posted. They mentioned that the Celestial set will get hit the hardest so they are increasing other stats in that set by 6%. Based on that, they may also have done something similar to other sets like Assassin/Valkyrie, but we have no information about that so it’s premature to jump on to any conclusion about those sets.

They said quite specifically that the ferocity changes only impact critical damage. This means that Assassin’s stats are about to get hammered worse than their “10%” figure the assassin stat combo trades the power on berserker for precision, thus your overall hit-power is less to begin with, and where the compensation used to come from all the crit damage, that specifically is what is now being nerfed. Zerker stat gear and its power stat is not being changed, gear that uses causing critical damage for that crit damage multiplier in place of power is going to take it worse. This because they are listening to the forums that anyone who doesn’t have a bone to pick or a need to troll basically ignores anyway (I lost 7 sets….thats $70… of beautiful flamekissed pve/pvp armor because they listened to the forums instead of the people who opened their wallets, and wound up being given trash i would have paid that money to remove from the game totally, and having to spend my “refund” trying to find non-existant replacements…gg forums).

So their nerf is ignoring Assassin’s stats because not enough people are talking about them, or they are getting their posts flamed to deletion (like my flamekissed pleas) and they are nerfing “zerk” because thats what people write on the forums. And they are altering celestial because enough people took to the forums to ask “what about me” with that stat set. It’s why i get on these forums now…the stupidity that goes on here has already cost me $70, 2 months and trust in this company, and their ultra-bland and totally nonspecific responses to the assassin’s stat quandy is likely about to cost me 30 days of laurels, and 1 full set worth of ascended armor (thats 400-500 gold worth of mats… i coulda bought a nice precourser for that).

After the game launched and people have reach 80, did all the map, etc… Question asked “WHERE IS THE ENDGAME?!”, the reply from ANet was grind, grind, grind and moar grind. If this continues we will soon be like WoW major pain in the kitten grind required to reach what we want.

PvE Needs some oxygen, so we can play and have fun normally at PvE and achieve the things normally without be days, weeks, months, grinding for it.

The question is, what DO we want? Do we really want ascended and legendary gear?
I’m still wearing all exotics and I’m doing fine. Got a couple of sets for different roles, and no problem.

What do I want as my endgame? I want to be in control (or be in a guild who is in control) of some tangible territory on the map, persistently, and be able to say “this is our land, until someone takes it”.

No biweekly resets. And our guild crest should be displayed on the map for all to see that we own this place.

That would be a rewarding endgame for me. I could log in every day just to check that the town is still ours.

WvW towers/keeps you mean?
Endgame in pve is grinding… we are supposed to begrinding to make ourselves pretty though, which is why ascended gear (with ANY stat increase) and what it takes to craft it is so uncalled for.
Endgame pvp in GW1 was gvg and Halls of Heroes, wherein your name, or your guild’s name would get a global brodcast for having won a battle. As yet, so such…hopefully will see some of that in before the next living story season.

Do we really have to get into the difference between an online game and real life again? Tell you what-show me a person named ‘Jesus sucks’ or ‘sexy Jesus’ in real life then I’ll start to explain the difference. There’s no discussion if you can’t even do that.

Also I do believe I saw a post saying they were looking into language differences in regards to the filter, because yes, on a Spanish speaking server Spanish names should be fine. However the server isn’t. And the potential for abuse and discomfort of thousands far outweigh the ten guys who might want to name themselves in-game. I do agree however that Mohammed should also be blocked. Granted most kids from the ‘developed, civilized’ countries tend to like to mock, ridicule and disrespect Christianity more than Islam but it’s best to not give sharp, pointed tools to children. Hell, even if people wrote their name as ‘Jesus’ disciple’ can you imagine the abuse they would suffer daily from immature kids/legally declared adults who think it’s ‘cool’ to say they’re atheist/agnostic and believe that means they should bash on people who believe in some kind of faith?

Best to not open that Pandora’s box.

Agreed… just agreed… welcome to the reasons (both sides at fault) for censorship, nanny states and a boatload of other political issues come into being /sigh

Better armor style options for Norn light armor, the legging and shoulder thing is killing me here.
Fix to the norn pony-tail hair styles to make them not clip with my body (they did this for humans)
Make engi kit backpacks something i can hide, or dye, or…something…
Aquabreather for buyers of Zodiac armors
Market Adjustments for Asc crafting (recipe alterations, drop rates, something… 1 asc set per character, fine… but i would actually like to be able to use my account bound fractal levels… 400-500g worth of mats per set is REAL harsh with 4-5 characters whom I really enjoy playing and would like to bring to fractals 50 once in a while)
Undo the drop changes to black lion chests…I think they drop less worthwhile stuff now than they did even before
Make “culture armor” available to all races…where culture means “in the style of” and rename what we got now to anything else
Bring back my $70 worth of ht3 skinned flamekissed armor (4 characters, with pvp sets)
More armor skins like the zodiac, without the blue, without the gem store
More, new dungeons, fixes and love for old ones…add more rewards for killing mobs in dungeons, take away rewards for skipping things (make the champ oozes spawned from the legendary one required material in arah p1 and add rewards for trash across the board)
Make world bosses down scale…a lot. 20-40 people bare minimum on the really big ones, camping 2 hours for loot i coulda trippled on other bosses or in dungeons for a lotto jackpot’s chance at the wrong stat of asc gear is… insane.
More guild missions, even expanding on the kinds already in existance
WvW exploration should be moved to eotm and maybe EB, only… and the borderland maps could use some eotm loving… eotm maps is what wvw shoulda looked like from the start imo
Please take a look at my horrible luck with rng, played heavily since launch, never gotten a precourser drop, and i watch people in guild who i have seen legit recieve what must be 1 precourser every 2 weeks abouts (seriously, nerf them, buff me, or at least tell me what i did wrong to deserve this)
Dye channels on weapons
Useful racial elites for non-sylvari (Pretty sure they get the best one in existance via seed turrets)
Fixes for Norn Wer-Form elites (use these and you are dead, and saying you want to be dead, and you are wasting your elite for a quirky stealth/escape-mobility move)
Ranger perma-stow pet option…there are fights out there where the presence of anything other than your character is going to gum up the works and make it miserable for everyone. “Stow Pet” should mean “until i say it can come back out” and should be available in combat with the same cooldowns as a pet swap.

In GW2 they have defined every class rather narrowly by “style” more so than “tank/heal/dps” and what i mean by that is generally that mesmer = phantams, warrior = melee, ele = aoe, ranger = pet…etc. While there are build options to avoid a little of this, it also means you in GW2 are slaved to the limitations of your class’s range of skills chosen for your gimmick…Yes, some classes can “tank” better than others, some can dps/heal better, but there isn’t enough of any of it really to create a proper “trinity” group… Other than Trahearne’s unity clap-trap of course

I particularly appreciated the last part of this. But, the first part just seems how I would want to pick my profession anyway though (ie, if I want to melee, yeah, warrior makes sense; ele being aoe too; etc). I think what you’re getting at is to really have a viable holy trinity, toughness and healing would have to be more pronounced/effective rather than just the damage being done.

Yes that’s basically what i was getting at, the survival/healing isn’t there in large enough durations/amounts to make it possible game-wide imo.

One thing to consider also, even a 100% maxed out uber dps’er isn’t going to bring as much extra damage to table as can also be brought along by whoever is giving up dps to make those supports/heals viable in the durations needed to really make it happen. Then there are also aggro mechanics and some boss behaviors, and a few other considerations that make the building of a trinity team less and less viable.

Where they made the goof imo is that toughness, vitality and healing are not able to make up for what’s accomplished by killing something as fast as possible. I like the lack of a required trinity but: Ancient toughness and hokie heals are no match for a good zerker build on your character kid.

But why is it that character names with “Jesus” in them considered inappropriate, and ones with “Mohammed” considered okay ?

There was me thinking it was spelled Muhammad, mind you I doubt all the many various names used for Jesus have been banned yet either.

In another game I knew a Tank Jezus.. so even though I bet that one’s making the list now soon if it hasn’t already, no…you can still slip some in. (Wok Sof Carybig Dic from GW1) Also I got a weekend off in gw1 when they realized ‘kitten’ wasn’t on the filter list
