Thankfully my alt account didn’t spend any time in queues, it is on Borlis Pass. Being paired with FA makes for a good match – but several of our members were queued out for over an hour even after only starting to queue about 2 minutes into reset…
BEEP was on FA before we went back to Borlis Pass, the reason we left FA was to get away from the queues – now we have no where to transfer off to in order to get away from them lol…
I hope this ends up just being a reset night thing, it was a pretty fun night but really crappy that so many of the people in the guild had to just sit around in queues for over an hour just to come play with us.
I wouldn’t mind if they did the ruins like they had in Alpine there. The daily ruins capture was really nice for roamers to get fights without getting blobbed. It also promoted people running around solo or with smaller groups because of it.
Currently, the DBL maps just have a ton of wasted space for no real reason other than to make me walk around longer looking for a fight lol.
“suffer Alpine” ?? It is by far better than the new map and bringing it back is going to be bringing a lot of the old players back that quit when HOT came out because of the new map. I didn’t fully quit the game when it happened, but I quit WvW for a good 2 months or so until I decided to return to just playing in EBG.
New map is a lot more playable after the changes on 04/19, but it still isn’t WvW ready. There are several more things they need to fix before it should touch a rotation.
Bump – I don’t want this to be forgotten, its a really annoying problem.
I was testing in the guild arena with a couple friends on my Elementalist today, when they use taunt, I can not move until I use the “/sit” emote.
Warrior friend has trait that taunts when he goes in to berserk, I can’t move once he uses it on me.
Ranger friend has taunt on pet F2 skill and I can’t move once he uses that on me as well.
Please fix this, it has been getting crazy annoying in fights in WvW and now I finally figured out what is causing it.
I run dagger/warhorn on my ele.
Edit: To clarify, even after taunt is up, my Elementalist can not move.
(edited by Josh XT.6053)
Yeah, I figure by the time I’d get any kind of response on a support ticket, I could already earn those 20-30 WvW ranks just ktraining in EOTM… lol..
Sun, what you’re missing is that you might stack 20 stacks of bleed on someone, but now that is just one condition that is hurting to cleanse instead of 2.
So yes, it was a nerf, but it was 100% necessary because the damage before was too strong and it required enemies to be able to clear massive amounts of conditions that no class really could.
It needed to happen and I think they nerfed it just the right amount. I’ve played the meta condi chill necro and I’ve played against it plenty. I built my ele fully around fighting condi necros and they could still keep minimum 3 conditions on my ele at all time even with my build being able to clear 2-3 conditions a second.
It needed nerfed badly, if you think its nerfed out of viability, its because you were never truly good at necro, you were just taking advantage of an incredibly over powered over-sight from the expansion that was the reaper chill damage.
Yep thanks, I really wish they didn’t take almost 7 months to do anything about our complaints but at least they’re doing something about the problems finally.
Can’t change the past, I can forgive as long as they remember that they are only a successful company because of their customers.
I agree it would be nice to trade them for something. I have 15 level 80s on my main account and 5 level 80s on my alt account. I really have no need at all for tomes of knowledge anymore but they just keep stacking up in my bank.
And I mean really, I’ll hear nothing of Spirit Shards, I have no use for those either lol.. Only thing that would do is make it to where I am not having wasted inventory slots.
If you played condi necro, you were pretty much scum of the earth. The amount of conditions it put out and the damage of chill was WAY too high. No class or build could sustain clearing or living through those conditions because it was too heavy.
Now we can finally see people playing a little differently again instead of every necro in PvP and WvW running condi cheese since it was higher DPS than any power build put out and the necros could live forever.
They’re cheap to buy them on TP, run a dungeon, make your 5g and just buy them lol.
It would be really nice to have a higher chance to receive ascended chests in WvW. It comes back down to being forced to PvE if you want nice things like Legendary weapons or Ascended gear/weapons. Currently we can only get ascended trinkets in WvW, it would be very nice to be able to spend badges/proof of heroics or something on ascended armor/weapons.
Step in the right direction for those maps, but they’re still not “WvW ready” to me.
Still too many bad choke points and they even added some with some of the path ways they added. The annoying earth things that pop up in your face around earth keep that also cripple and give people stealth are still there. It is already REALLY hard to see anything on the screen in that area. They need to do a lot of work there to remove all of that stuff.
I want Alpine back still. I gave that map another chance last night and roamed with my 3 man group for 2 hours in the map. We got several fights, all on my stream (in my forum sig), but it still doesn’t seem like its fully ready to be a primary WvW map. I’ll be super excited to have Alpine back where roaming is much more viable.
My thoughts on the April 19th patch for WvW.
Stability and crowd control changes:
ANet gets an A+ from me on that. I am not sure why things like Static field and rings/lines/fear wall, etc were not limited to how many times they can hit before, but I am glad they are limited now and I am glad that they changed stability in the way they did while retaining their “stability stacks” system.
Desert BL changes:
Well, it is an improvement for sure. But the earth things that pop up in your face around the earth keep are still there and still very annoying for roaming. The cripple and stealth there is also unacceptable for WvW. I do like how they made the map more open and created several routes to get to places now instead of just one path to get somewhere. It is certainly improvement, but it is still not “WvW ready” in my opinion. There are still a LOT of bad choke points and even several of these narrow passage-ways that they created with this patch just created more choke points. Removing the barracades is a welcomed change for me personally since I am a roamer primarily and it was like a maze before because of these. Removing some massive cliffs in areas was also a welcomed change and the hay bails are funny.
Auto Loot (only thing that matters in the new Provisioning line):
Best thing that ever happened to this game, hands down. My mouse button that I am constantly spamming for AOE loot thanks Anet for this one. I’ve broke this button on my last mouse (same model of mouse) because of picking up loot lol. I do wish I had an option to change my WvW rank points around though. It doesn’t matter for my main account that is rank 2720, but it does matter for my alt account that is only rank 160.
WvW Reward Tracks:
The new armor set is ugly (at least on the light armor male asura lol), I am not sure how great the rewards are just yet, but it is certainly a step in the right direction. The rewards that WvW has given have been little, the only way to get any nice things is generally to do PvE so if this brings additional income to WvW, it is going to be a very nice thing.
Squad changes:
This is also a welcomed change because we can finally reward our scouts for splitting off from the main group to check on our objectives.
World Linking:
I really wish there was more information on this, we’re kind of in the dark and not really knowing what to expect for WvW reset this Friday. I do really like the IDEA of this, and I hope it works out like I think it will in my mind, but I am not holding my breath since the details were pretty vague.
Over all pretty happy with the changes for WvW, which is honestly a shocker to me because generally when WvW is touched, it is messed up worse. Progress is great. I am looking forward to having the Alpine maps back so that roaming is more viable again. I think if they continued working on Desert BL and maybe 1 other WvW map, we could have a 3 map rotation where each server gets a different map. I just hope that our feedback is heard about whatever new maps come in to play instead of dealing with another disaster for WvW like the Desert BLs have been since October.

I didn’t see this post before making my own ( https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/wuv/Reset-rank-points/first#post6107652 )
My main account (this one) is rank 2720, which I prefer didn’t get points reset on. But my alt account is only rank 160~ and I would rather have auto loot than the other stuff that I am traited for right now. I think I would like the OPTION to reset my points, not necessarily a universal point reset that resets everyones points.
Traditionally any time a change is made to the WvW ranks, you guys reset the rank points. For my main account (which is rank 2720), I prefer if it didn’t happen but for my alt account (which is rank 160) – I would REALLY like access to the auto loot and can’t have it unless my points or reset or I gain 30 ranks on it soon.
Any way we can get an NPC to reset our points or something to that effect? Or can I just put in a ticket on my alt account to have my points reset?
Thanks.
Fortunately, 99.38% damage reduction is not something you can get without rite of the great dwarf. Protection and frost aura stack, but rune of the scrapper and geomancer’s defense don’t stack additively with them. Protection + frost aura = -50%. Adding geomancer’s defense makes it -55% rather than -60%.
You’re doing math incorrectly. You don’t add percentages, you multiply.
Protection 1.4 (40%, got that?)
Frost Aura 1.1
Food 1.1
From Trait 1.1
Scrapper rune 1.071.4 * 1.1 * 1.1 * 1.1 * 1.07 = 1.993838, which is 99.38%.
This link may help you pass middle school math.
https://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20071202081920AA5VwIjAlso where is your source that the trait and scrapper runes don’t stack?
You’re making a massive fool out of yourself.
Okay I mean you’re welcome to come to my guild hall arena and attack my ele and see that you do little to no damage.
How much would you actually be healing with the draining sigil? Isn’t it just static and unsteady ground interrupting?
I run dagger/warhorn, so I have the air 4 knock down, air 3 stuns when people hit me which interrupts, air over load interrupts a lot and water 4 interrupts. So I do get a decent bit of heals and damage when I am in air because of it, but it really only does me a lot of good in air.
Or you can use a good build for WvW.
The food is wrong because that site doesn’t work, this is the food > http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Bowl_of_Mussel_Soup
Now my ele build at melee range (which you should always be if you’re in a fight) is going to be sitting at 99.38% damage reduction at almost all times. Every aura you apply to yourself gives you regen, which clears conditions. You also get protection that gives you that nice 40% damage reduction, which I manage to keep pretty much 100% up time of.
So you get to kill stuff, not die and laugh even in 2v1s pretty easily.
Fun little video for ya: https://www.twitch.tv/asphyxiaxt/v/60267683
I run similar in wvw, but I use radiance runes and aura share.
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Superior_Rune_of_Radiance
Scrapper much better?
I like the scrapper runes for the damage reduction and the power/toughness gains personally, especially since I am running fell celestial. The effects of the auras would be awesome to have, but I would lose too much power and toughness to make it worth while on my build.

So because you don’t like playing support or playing against someone who plays support, you think no one should be able to?
When I play ele, I support my team well with boons, condition clears and heals. My team doesn’t become invincible because of this, but as a whole my team is stronger when they are near me. You do realize that the range on all of the auras getting shared is tiny don’t you? I hold my own in 1v1s and survive most of them pretty well, even win plenty of fights but you would call me a bunker support ele lol.
Just also want to point something out – I rarely see other eles in pvp anymore. Almost everything I see is cancerous condi necros, daredevils and revenants. I’d maybe go talk about what those nerfs should look like – ele doesn’t need one. We’re barely even in a good place right now since the celestial amulet went away.
Was he a cat? I thought YouTube was for cat videos.
Ele Support Nerf Power Buff Speculation
I think everyone would like a viable power build as oppose to the healbot that Ele are atm. Though, it’s yet to be determined exactly how Anet will buff/nerf the class.
Hmm speak for yourself. As a person who mains Elementalist in PvP and WvW, I think they did enough damage to Ele when they removed the cele amulet. It is almost not even viable now, I am playing with Paladins amulet now to make it worth running still, but I’ve lost out on ferocity, healing power and condition damage – 3 things that were all pretty nice to have with cele.
I enjoy playing my ele this way though, bunkering ele is pretty fun because you have to know the rotations in order to just never die in 1v1 situations – but you still do damage if you know your rotations well enough. I don’t really care to have a “good” power build, I just miss my good “all around” build lol.
Things YOU know as facts:
1. I can buy unlimited items off the Tp without any server limitations- FALSE
2. I can pick up unlimited items into my inventory from the TP without any server limitations – FALSE
3. I can set arbitrary buy order prices at unlimited speed without server limitations. – FALSE
4. Doing any of these things in reverse (selling) causes an error to pop up – what?
Things devs have stated as facts in the past:
-series of random ad hominems that clearly make your points more valid…right?Just because you don’t see the technical implementation of some aspects of the systems doesn’t mean it’s magic.
Doesn’t really answer any questions. I know as a fact that software development isn’t magic, I’ve been doing it for 20 years. The limitations are generally set by hardware or network connections. If those are your limitations – upgrade. See NCSoft earnings report and tell me how this isn’t possible.
I don’t really know why you’re being defensive about it, lets try to be constructive and think about what can be done. Why are other games not limited in the way that you are? Maybe utilize your community who may just have some ideas you missed.
I pegged you for a dba or sql monkey until I read about your theory that limitations in software engineering are generally either hardware or network based. Now I can only assume you are in fact, not a programmer at all.
Just saw your reply, made me laugh a little.
Now, if you are a programmer – you might just be a programmer that is stuck on one programming language if you don’t believe me. Programming in general is limited only by hardware and the mind of the person writing the code. Now I may not be able to do something in PHP that I can do in C#, that is just because different languages are better at certain things than others. But programming is always only limited by hardware. Unless of course the programmer behind the screen doesn’t know how to do something, then its limited by user and hardware.

What more build diversity do you want? In WvW, I have multiple build that I run on multiple characters that are all more than viable, they’re great.
Guardian – 3 different builds.
- Celestial Medi/burn (Without elite spec)
- Marauders trap Dragonhunter
- Large group front line build (without elite spec)
Necro – 4 different builds.
- Classic power well necro without elite spec
- Power well necro with Reaper
- Corruption condition necro without elite spec
- Chillomancer Condition necro with Reaper.
Elementalist – 3 different builds
- Celestial Aurashare Tempest front line dagger/warhorn
- Zerk/Marauders Tempest back line Staff
- Celestial Tempest roaming dagger/warhorn (Without aura share, runs condi clense on regen instead)
Mesmer – 2 different builds
- Condi chronomancer
- Zerk shatter chronomancer
Revenant – 2 different builds
- Marauder staff roaming build with elite spec.
- Marauder hammer build for back line in larger groups.
Engineer Scrappers are pretty much just used for roaming, I don’t play it but I do know that some run zerk/marauders, condition or celestial. So there is still more than 1 build.
Thieves pretty much all run daredevil right now because its strong and they can go zero-skill gank people.
Warrior has 2 builds that I’ve played around with since the elite spec. One was the classic front line for larger groups and one was a mid-line/roamer/gank running gunflame.
Who cares about rangers anyway? No one should be playing that garbage.
And I mean, lets be real – who really cares about thief, engineer, warrior or ranger anyway? Warrior is the only semi-useful one of those. Ranger is still stuck on focusing single targets forever, engineer is not the best at anything it does – if you were to play engi, might as well play ele and do it better. And thief is just thief, always been a scrub class lol.
Not sure what game mode you’re planning to play a condition spec ele in..
For WvW, you’re best to run Celestial if you still want good condition damage. It is the best “all around” set up for Ele. Burning in fire hits pretty nicely when running dagger/warhorn, but you also get decent damage and great survivability with it.
For PvP, short answer is no – condition ele is not really a thing and would be a major waste to try to run. You don’t have enough condition up time to make it worth running.
For PvE? Go nuts, you can run anything in PvE because its boring and requires no skill.
I just want to go ahead and point out that Druid heals are significantly more than Ele heals. Ele can be made to be tanky, the heals that they can apply makes them MORE tank, but it isn’t the only reason lol. Its mostly the boons such as frost aura and protection being applied from auras. The regen does heal a decent amount, but it isn’t what makes them so survivable. My ele doesn’t have any healing power for my PvP build and I can bunker a 1v1 with just about anyone without any issues running Paladin with soldier runes and dagger/warhorn.
Sounds like you’re either salty about not being able to kill eles that build well or you’re an ele that doesn’t know how to build well.
I run the 3 shouts that give Auras and soldier runes in PvP. I have the trait that grants regen when I apply an aura, then also the trait that removes a condition when I apply regen as well. From there, we also have diamond skin. I also run the trait that removes a condition when I attune to water.
So each time I shout, I remove 2 conditions from myself and near by allies. Every time I apply an aura I also remove a condition (which is frequently since I run dagger/warhorn.)
My ele build is built around condition removal since we live in a time where condi necros and mesmers think they’re the gods of PvP now. I ran all of this same stuff back when I was able to run Celestial in PvP too, but anet took that away from me. Now I run Paladins, which works fine. I still miss my Celestial in PvP. I run celestial in WvW still though.
This game also has a global TP, not a server based TP. As far as I know, there isn’t another game TP that’s within an order of magnitude of scale of this one.
Hi John, just my 2 cents.
I guess the technical limitation has something to do with the database and the amount of querys some amount of players can do before the DB cache queue get fills up (AKA beginning to lose transactions.I would in your case implement a double queue system: Your TP already have in place one (i guess).
At the client side i would implement an internal queue where the items that the player want to sell are queued. Those items are listed in the TP as soon as possible if the limit is reached it tries in X seconds/minutes.
If the player close the game before those items are listed they are returned to the player to his inventory. For the player would not be any visual difference and would solve the hindrance of the limit pop up, the TP could get some breather because you could decide what are the limit of quees x second and player could be the limits of the amount of items posted per x time.
And at security level wouldn’t change much, simply would be another “hidden space” were those items could be placed while waiting to be listed in the TP. If those have to be returned because the player closed the game before they could be listed and his bags are full again, it could be given back in a way similar to a daily chest so the player can try to list them again in the TP as soon as he is able to free up the bag.
Sure it will need some coding, but the change shouldn’t be very invasive, is simply creating a queuing interface to handle the listing.
These are some interesting ideas, but I’m afraid they don’t address the root issues. I’m not at liberty to discuss the architecture of the game, but the problems are harder than what you’re thinking. That being said, are they fixable? Yes. Do we know how to fix them? Yes. Are we going to spend man-years doing it so people can sell items faster on the TP? Probably not. There’s just bigger fish to fry.
Well I think we have our answer – they know its a bug that is annoying people and has been since the game launched, but its not worth their time to fix it. Cool.
And you have to be able to spell Maguuma right.

When HoT started, the clear issue with desert bl was low population (at least playing from NSP). This would have happened to alpine as well – everyone was doing elite specs and trying HoT content.
This would have happened to Alpine and WvW in general for a SHORT TIME.. The expansion has been out since October, that is almost 7 months now and a large amount of WvW population does not play anymore because of the new maps. I stopped for a long time and just did PvP because of it too.
I am a roamer and the leader of a roaming guild that generally runs 1-6 people, none of us like roaming on the new map. Not enough fights (We’re on Blackgate even.), the terrain is a pain to navigate. Barricades, random walls popping up on you when you’re trying to walk around, random crippling, randomly getting knocked off ledges by things that are blowing on you for no reason lol..
There are so many reasons to dislike the map, as a roamer who accumulated over 2000 of WvW ranks (of I think 2300 or so?) from just roaming, I think my experience should be important. I’ve spent over 4000 hours in WvW roaming as well. I don’t like Zerging, I don’t like EOTM, large group play in general is boring because it doesn’t showcase individual skill like roaming does.
What exactly is causing this to NEED to happen? As a software developer for the past 20 years, I don’t see why this would be a forced limitation unless your servers simply can not handle it. If that is the case – upgrade servers, don’t say its just not fixable.
This has been my biggest complaint about this game since I started playing it. I have to spend an hour a week almost just trying to sell the stuff out of my bank because I do WvW and am too busy paying attention to playing the game to sell my mats, so I just hit deposit and sell everything over the weekend. If there was no limit on how fast I could sell, I’d have it all done in 5 minutes or less..
I shouldn’t be capped on how much I can sell, it doesn’t make sense. Please do explain and maybe someone here with knowledge like myself can make a suggestion to fix your problem.
As a software developer myself, I would be incredibly surprised if they can’t write a small piece of code that makes reset times adhere to day light savings time.
Why desert bls are bad:
- Desert BLs are a pain to navigate. Always a cliff, wall, barracade or PvE garbage with things popping out of the ground or crippling you to contend with.
- Desert BLs are too big, it takes 3x longer to get around the map and when you’re a roamer like me, it makes finding fights impossible.
- Desert BLs have WAY too many choke points that screw up larger fights.
- Walls are too tall in some places making it nearly impossibly to kill enemy siege.
- Too much PvE aspect to the map with things blowing you off high cliffs at one keep, again with the crippling stuff, the walls that randomly pop up in your face.
- The map looks built to have gliders, yet we don’t have those either.
Now, the reason why Alpine:
- Alpine map worked for open field combat, not as many choke points.
- Alpine map was more open and flat which made for better navigation, less confusion or aggravation.
- Objectives in the Alpine maps were harder to defend, you had to actually try.
- The ruins made roaming VERY interesting, especially on days where the daily was for ruin capture. It promoted smaller fights.
I think the Alpine maps were well thought out with a WvW play in mind. The Desert maps were thought out as if there were going to just be a lot of PvE players there. The CEO of the company said WvW players really just like PvE, he was wrong and the MASSIVE population drop when they released these new maps has to have proved that. I know many people who are coming back when the Alpine maps are brought back. There is another pro of Alpine, it will bring back WvW players.
I know why zergs chase my guild around when we are roaming lol.. Between fights, we take towers and camps a lot. Servers are starting to learn that a few people running around can and will actually do things that hurt the enemies PPT game, which is what a lot of those zergs care about.
I run a small man roaming group on Blackgate and we’re pretty happy with the roaming here. To those who suggested Tier 3, I have to disagree. We left Maguuma because the roaming was so boring and went to Tier 1.
We actually get fights now, but we have to deal with Yaks Bend and Jade Quarry running to hide behind walls and siege quite a bit or a blob hard committing to our 3-5 man group lol. Its all good though, we still get some pretty good fights. Once the Alpine maps are restored, roaming should be a lot better again.
You PvE player are adorable complaining about your legendary weapons when WvW players are stuck suffering with a barely playable map that they implemented with HOT until they figure out how to bring the old maps back..
If you’re going to complain about something, pick an area of the game that needs attention, not WEAPON SKINS.. I think we have plenty enough of those for now.
Also just a note – it would be a lot better if you guys would recognize daily savings time changes instead of making the daily reset time and WvW reset times change. 7PM EST is a great time for daily reset and 8PM EST is a great time for WvW reset year round..
That is 9pm-10pm for EST players, can’t you guys make this closer to 7PM or 8PM for EST players? Like many EST WvW players, I log off around 10pm-11pm..
Please bring back Alpine maps. There is just too much PvE aspect to the desert borderlands and they are way too big. Too many cliffs, too much for a WvW map. Clearly population in the borderlands maps have dropped significantly through out every server since HoT release. Just bring back the Alpine maps as they were please.
Anyone else think its typical that they’re not replying or even acknowledging this post? lol.
Even though I doubt they care about what we really want, you can add my name to the list.
I stream WvW game play nightly, you’ll rarely see me on one of the new maps because there are no enemies to fight there. It is boring, the maps are too big, there are far too many ledges and things that make the map incredibly hard to navigate and the PvE factor on those maps is just too much.
I miss the ruins, for the daily that brought people there and encouraged more small player fights. I miss the over all layout of the old maps, it wasn’t a huge maze with towers bigger than keeps and keeps bigger than castles. The new maps are just way too much. Kudos for the effort, but please just give us back the old maps that are more practical for WvW.
Wait, you test stuff before patching?
This is driving me insane. Please fix asap.
Windows 10 – currently using 32 bit client.
Yeah I agree, need to bring back the old maps. New maps are pretty and all, but they’re just not practical for WvW. Way too big for the population the game mode still has.
