okies added some gameplay of ganking/camp&tower defending/1v1/1v2/and some more ganking lol, Couple of deaths too so im being more genuine then the misleading “I win everytime” montages. Second vid ever made so its a cut a little weird. Slow night so a lot of the enemy are repeats.

could try sylvan hound for 1k heal + some regen if you don’t have regen already.
ya I setup the shadowplay for 10min. Ty for suggestion cause its pretty nice. I primarily roam so I don’t need huge chunks of time. Would consider 5min even but I will see.

Its true function is not everyday skill equipped on bar. Its for killing the bouncy bouncy troll thief who is begging to get gunned down with the longbow.
Oh I fight in melee. Where most of my aoe burst comes from. Pewpew to lure them into melee range and wipe them there ;-)

Leeching venoms helps dmg as well as healing. I’ve never really considered venoms a condi build.
Healing, poison, chill, immobilize, torment/vulnerability, stun
Honestly for zerging I would run 5 venoms and full pvt or maybe sentinels. Your leeching venom dmg will be ~400 dmg tics.
Skelk, ice drake, devourer, spider, basilisk
So much control, so much healing tics, so much dmg tics.
Yeah remove mesmers’ illusionary wave too. That’s about 5x worse but thankfully mesmers are rare.
Or warriors hammer whirly knockback skill.
Or guardians hammer launch, so annoying when trying to stomp.
Or necros fear mark.
could make a trait that when dual-wielding warhorns you summon 2x
and lol @ double shields.

rune of the madking. The hawks can trigger sharpened edge trait and the hawks channel on 3 foes within ~ entangle range for ~2-3k dmg.
I guess the build is pretty generic but it is a stepping stone away from pewpewpew build I see a lot..
I prefer owl for the long chill and it hits reliably. On swap im still trying to figure it out but as a camp flipper you best use a pet that has some poison like marsh drake, any spider, carrior devourer or even murellow. Ive run drake but spider is pretty good against other roamers aswell with its range. Devourer and murellow are probably stepping stone pets as they are horrid in dueling players but they do have an on demand poison that is 5target cap instead of 3target cap like spider/marsh drake.
With a little more practice I can wipe the npcs within 30 seconds (before swords). Its a lot harder stacking a camp fast with a pet ;-( At the moment in certain camps (nnc & nwc) I pick off a couple of the wing npcs first.
You wont win 1v3+ or anything obscene but you can defend camps against a few depending on certain elements naturally. Ive taken camps with “experienced” players (silver/gold ranks) in them so its not horridly bad nor meta.
It may seem weird taking trait for traps on a zerker build or even using a trap at all. I guess its optional but I find flame trap a strong skill for good tics against somewhat bunker builds and more dmg tics to help counter blackpowder in camps. Not forgetting fire aura ofcoarse ;-)
Bleeding is secondary but with +30% from traits and +40% from madking runes bleeding stack very fast and very heavy. With no condi dmg the bleed/poison/fire tics are strong still.
Lure them in with the bow, then signet up and dump all that beautiful aoe on them with flame trap/barrage/entangle(hawks)[swap] hydromancy+leeching/hiltbash/maul ;-) don’t forget to pickup loot bag ;-) AND NEVER FORGET YOUR PETS’ F2 SKILLS !

I loved that skill and never wanted to take it off my bar. I finnaly swapped it out for flame trap and I’m a zerker lol. I occasionally put it on bar when a thief is being a jerk and bouncing around. Is it powerful? kitten ed right it is. Pewpewpew hehehe.
I’ve seen this event only once that I recall. Does it still exist/champion still? What is its trigger. I did try squishing the eggs ;-)

As a roamer it would get pretty boring as with no swords the only resistance you would meet are randoms or enemy who connected the dots on the map ;-)
Im not sure why white swords should be removed. There are guard NPCs there for a reason and indeed some of them are called SCOUTS.
And for anyone thinking all will be fine without white swords. There are some kitten ed sneaky cata spots that 95% of wvwers just don’t know about. Have friend clear door guards while you cata away in secret.
As a longbow ranger you shall focus on any thief spotted first before all other enemies.
I understand the frustraition of the trait unlock system. I wanted to pve a bit and needed a trait. Says go kill ooze in barbarous shores? I get there and only event is kill champ spider. Well lol I guess I solo champ. Kill it and keep killing stuff for 20min and no ooze. Go to wiki and it says only spider or ooze can spawn at a time. This was for an adept trait. Needless to say I go to wvw and buy it. Logon next day and the ooze is standing on top of me…
Its not that people don’t know why its frustaiting, they are not stupid. They just think its not worth complaining about.
Rampage justs needs to be smoother. Not harder hitting, not better defense, not longer duration, not shorter cooldown. While those things would certainly be nice, it will never be enough

Indeed it is very hard to find shoulders that fit right. They exist. My 2 favorites for female norn warrior are ascended and t3 ;-) Ascalon is also good.
Honestly though, I’m not sure why you would wear shoulder pads in town clothes. Do you leave your house with shoulder pads and look good? ;-)
Celestial gear is only if you are VERY serious about the build. I ran mine for about a year and went from exotic to ascended (which is not necessary for the armor/weapons). But I roam and -6% guard dmg and +2% guard dmg is more stats ;-)
Getting power without crit/dmg stats is weak for sword and longbow. Longbow has had several nerfs to its direct dmg. Sword only really has final thrust which if it fails to crit (if you land it) is a noodle.
Looking on wiki its appauling that there are 3 stat sets with condition dmg/ healing/ toughness.
There are 11 equipment stats with healing power and only 1 of 11 has 2 offensive stats combined with it, Zealot’s power/precision.
Only have so many interrupts. Guardian standing on top of downed ele and rezing. Downing a glass ele isn’t really kittence they blow their cooldowns like obby flesh and that reflect skill and whirling winds. Getting that guardian off them is the prob. Of coarse if one of us had stability spiked the ele we wouldnt have looked as kittenuming opportunity existed.

Me and 2 others vs a good guard and a sucky glass ele. We keep downing bad ele and guard keeps rezing them till we die cause everything is on CD trying to keep zerk ele down and trying to take guardian out. Maybe we just sucked that bad but I still suspect the guardian deserves some credit both in knowing the class and what it can do.
Greatsword, sword/focus always. Use traited focus and it becomes the best utility weapon in wvw.
Give minions MOAR DAMAGE AND CLEAVE LOLS
Use 2 shouts and banner of tactics (compassionate banner )

If you like healing shouts, bleeding, burning, criting dmg, and toughness you will want full celestial with soldier runes. That’s what I run and it is mean as hell. S/s, lb.
I run 4 defense for cleansing ire, excellent adren builder on top of the condi cleanse. And 4 in discipline for inspiring shouts. But honestly either is fine. Mine = more condi cleans yours = more raw damage.
You won’t regret celestial gear unless you stop liking what is basically a condi bunker build. Exotics are soulbound and ascended won’t do you much good unless there is a guardian condi bunker build?
Oops sorry forgot. Some of the biggest “damage” you can do is putting a sigil of doom on your longbow since you lack an interrupt. Next attack poisons.

Vengeance is good. You can’t be stomped unless you are downed again lol… Tbh I wouldn’t mind seeing all forms of downed state removed from game…
Don’t fret spammy condi builds. They are likely bunkers anyway and you should just move on. Sorry for weak advice but I wouldn’t try to cram too much condi removal in.
That being said:
Sigils:
Purity for on hit, removes
Generosity on crit, transfers (expensive as hell)
Cleansing on swap, removes (account bound)
After looking over the suggested build I’d say 3 condi removal skills is enough but you could remove the force/accuracy sigil for a purity one easy enough and/or put a cleansing one in place of fire sigil on bow.
I use sharpened edges as well. With high crit chance rapid fire and barrage trigger bleeding reliably. I also use Take Root (love those plants and bleed) + Madking Runes and those hawks hit a lot, although I am not sure if they will proc sharpened edges.
They will never give rangers rifle + rapid fire, too much machine gun. It would make the claims by the noobs that rangers have machine guns credible.
the ranger’s sword is the least mobile weapon in the game, in the sense that all of the attacks of the sword, besides the 1st on the AA chain, are locked in an animation, regardless whether it performs a dodge or not, you cannot move (with WASD!) or either strafe (absolutely key on pvp), it’s all animation queues.
ctrl+right click swords auto attack. you are welcome.
And while im at it, turn off auto targeting aswell…

I really don’t know why anyone would use bear when there are pets sooo much cooler. If you don’t want “cool” then get a krytan hound or something ;-)
I think much of the problem of pets is the inability to use the skills they have because some were clearly designed with AI in mind. People say “ok, make ai better”.
Why not instead remake skills that the current ai can use more effectively. What?!!?!?! Make stat stick pets? Well not precisely. Make skills that a pet uses whenever it feels like actually do something and are not counter productive.
I chose devourer because of just how kitten y lame it is for a pet. A ranged tank that hates melee, does no damage or any useful cc.
My take on devourer:
Power: 2000
Precision: 0
Toughness: 1750
Vitality: 15k health
1.) Twin Darts: Same except, instead of 10% chance of poison, applies poison on targets below 10% heath and are not suffering other conditions.
2.) Devourer Charge: Pet charges its target foe if they come near dazing them for 1/4sec. Basically the warrior’s shield bash but only enough daze to interrupt the foe. Thinking 10-15 second CD.
3.) Chitin: Passive. Once every 10 seconds the devourer ignores the damage of an attack that would deal more then 10% of its life. If the devourer takes fatal damage it instead burrows for 3 seconds becoming immune and Chitin goes on CD for 60 seconds.

Lashtail
Devourer Feast:
Passive: While dealing damage steal 100 health per condition devourer is suffering.
Active: Transfer 3 conditions from ranger to devourer. 20 second CD, does not remove passive.
Whiptail:
Passive: Range: 0-300/ +0% damage, 300-600/ +10% damage, 600-900/ +20% damage.
Active: Kick dirt at foe blinding(3sec) them while tunneling in a evasive retreat. 15 second CD, does not remove passive.
Carrior:
Passive: Range: 600-900/ +0% damage, 300-600/ +15% damage, 0-300/ +30% damage.
Active: Tunnel into the ground moving towards your target breaking through the ground at your targets feet crippling nearby:180 foes for 1 second. 10 second CD, does not remove passive.
Basically removed ridiculous amounts of toughness on a pet that is predominately ranged in favor of a guardian’s passive aegis type effect to prevent hard hitting spikes from wiping it out in an instant. Added more stable damage in trade by removing its precision. Adjusted its random poison to something more intelligent. Kept a way for it to deal with melee foes but still not too aggressive since it has its Chitin skill to help protect it. Gave it a passive/active skill similar to elementalist traited signets which allows for 3 types of devourer, ranged, melee-ish and necro-ish.
Id consider this version of the devourer more friendly foe newer people as its chitin skill, aswell as evade tunneling, would be quite forgiving. Still it wouldn’t be completely useless with its moderate damage, timely poison, soft cc in the form of blind/cripple/daze options and potentially its condition removal.
Have some thoughts on the other pets but figured I would start here.

Be as good with GS as you think you are with longbow. You can become god with the GS and people DO FEAR it. Love seeing thieves run away after the gs comes out and they eat hiltbash/maul and fail heartseeker or cnd cause lol counterattack is OP.
Don’t say “I only use these 3 utilities cause they are the best for me”. I swap out my one signet between the 3 depending on need. +25% for moving across borderlands, wild for pewpew from safe spot and stone for unsafe ground fighting. I dumped sic em (hilarious but unneeded) for fire trap and ofcoarse lf is pretty much stappled to bar atm.
Underrepresented right now are the porcines and devourers…
I like the little red carrion devourers not those ugly as hell lashtail/whiptails ;-(
Shame devourers are kitten y pets though. Their damage isn’t high, they have huge toughness but fight at range and then evade away when something gets close. Their f2 skills are lame. They need a change. Right now they are the pvt bearbow ranger of pets.
People cry enough about charr/asura armor (hell even the other races) I just don’t see how they can add another set of armor…sets. Unless of coarse they make asura/charr/(insert non-human race) tengu armor ;-)

You may wonder why it would “help” the mursaat find the chosen but I don’t think its intentional and is being used by them as a tool (I don’t think they made it). It just follows (spies on) those with magical aptitude and even knocks down white mantle who aren’kittens a unique npc SECRETIVE in origin and purpose and apparently will only follow those who enter the fountain of TRUTH. Conspiracy in tyria? HA!

Me, I run eagle/wolf. Birds land so many more hits. Wolf is great for the obvious fear but also for when you down a thief in shadow refuge and cant find them. After a few seconds swap to wolf and f2. It strikes them for dmg stopping their healing.
