I posted like last week or so – mine sucked then and I thought then what you do now – they’re back to “normal” now… I suspect RNG hates on the player.
Anything I could possibly say here would earn me an infraction. lol
I was thinking the same thing.
…
Rare dyes.
BL keys, which I’ve had as drops in dungeons, and rewards for zone completion, are easily a few thousand times more common than precursors or ascended weapon boxes.
Purely anecdotal though.
These last two are reversed for me, but I’m by no means saying anet’s making it rain rare dyes.
I just figured out how these are getting there (yah, takes me a while).
Is this highly deceptive mechanic WAI as a gold sink by anet?
If so, caveat emptor is at a whole ’nother level!
You should at least make them easily identifiable as unsalvageable.
My son and I just did the “inbox full” one this weekend – mine immediately granted the achievement, his did not.
Unfortunately (because this doesn’t apply to you, obv), a relog solved his issue and he was granted the achievement.
I mention this only to perhaps aid anet in troubleshooting.
Orichalcum Ore: noun. One who would do anything for Orichalcum.
Actually, my lag issues that kicked in somewhere right around the DDoS have started to subside. I think the only time it gets unbearable now is right in the middle of a word event.
Other than those (which can get miserable), I only get the occasional ~150-200 ms delay when turning the character abruptly like over 90 degrees.
I roleplay a nasty belch at that point, hehehe.
…I keep my drake out all the time…
now what have we discussed regarding over-sharing?
:D
If you like the challenge, I’d suggest elementalist. A well played ele outperforms every other class with ease.
Ireally love my ele, but it took time to get used to her… my necro is my next fave. HATE that worst in character slot ranger.
…Leif Chappelle and Maclaine Diemer…
Chappelle and Diemer – what horrid choices! What do a comedian and the founder of a car company have to do with music?!?!?
:D

OK, then – store item to insta-level to 80 for n dollars where n= avg number of days a player with more than one month of play time takes to go 0-80. If it serves no purpose (per the vets), then it won’t hurt the game.
Imo, leveling is far too easy. You shouldn’t be able to craft to 80, you shouldn’t get exp from gathering, you shouldn’t get exp from wvw (outside of ranking) and you shouldn’t be able to switch out your toon out last minute in dungeons. They should also get rid of instant 80 pvp toon. Make ppl work for that.
They need to make character progression harder and more rewarding. After all, MMO’s are about character progression not instant rewards. This is the downfall of GW2 and its what made WoW a terrible game. Anyone can hop into the game and do w/e they want just because they logged on. Garbage. If ppl want instant brain dead rewards they should stick with Xbox fps games.
One opinion – mine is that GW2 woulda just been like every other MMO had this model been agreed upon. What would have been the value proposition for the market had it done all of the above and been no different from the others?
Levels are there to space out elements in the learning process. Different aspects of the complete Level 80 experience are introduced over time. You get used to having Utility skills before you get your Elite skill. You have time to practice with and experiment with adept level traits before you gain access to master traits, etc.
This was the first thing I thought of. It really applies to when you’re changing professions.
WRT the posts similar to “why go to 80 when after x<80, it’s just a time waster”: I play some professions slightly differently 1-30 (typically 1 or 2 skills get way overused because mobs die that fast) than I do starting ~60 thru 80 (when mob HP becomes such that combos are efficient). I dunno if anyone else changes up during that range AND there’s still 30-60 that really are just chunks of dead space; but nonetheless, that’s how level progression usually goes for me.
…Pine is a soft wood!…
ROFL, having grown up where lumber (specifically pine) was the primary economic entity, that was EXACTLY my first thought the first time I salvaged one of those!
I could excuse other inconsistencies (Golems can bleed due to hydraulic tubing), but there are other funny ones – how do ghosts POSSIBLY bleed or get poisoned?
Slimer from ghost busters. he “bled” slime everywhere. But that was his thing.
Ascalonian ghosts? Not so much their thing, but they still are made of ecto!
Then they should drop Ectos… amirite?!?!?
Maybe if you make an asura… The camera is better for then.
Asura fixes some of the issues, but adds a whole new set of them. For instance, your camera is literally a foot off the ground, which makes a lot of stuff harder, especially trying to look up.
This. I have also ran into an issue where the camera would sporadically zoom in and out again while jumping up certain platforms to reach a vista in the starting zone for Asuras. This pops up again in other maps as well with similar jumps. The weird thing is that there is nothing behind my character that would make my camera do this. It’s a real head-scratcher. Not to mention I love my Charr more than my Asura lol.
I think that’s because we’re so low to the ground that any little bump in the terrain mesh causes a camera issue.
I think you’re right. Both my asura have a bit of an advantage in not bumping our heads in low-ceiling jumping puzzles; but if there’s so much as cave bat guano on the floor, we get the “extreme close-up” effect from Wayne’s World.
And why are there no coffee trees in this game?!?!
Hyenas don’t howl either… that REALLY grinds my gears. It is completely anatomically impossible for a Hyena to vocalise with its head high.
Whoa! I never noticed that before now…
Please, ArenaNet, do not make large-scale ‘raid-type’ content instanced. I prefer it the way it is. Thank you.
I probably won’t run the Wurm event again for a little while (we got pummeled night before last) due to sheer annoyance.
That said, I LIKED the fact so many of us were in there running around stupidly trying to kill that thing.
Eventually we’ll all “get it” and it will be more organized and thus the event will be more rewarding (well, not in loot terms, because… you know) – we just gotta get through this extra chromosome phase.
Well, we all have to admit that our toons are incredibly strong….after a run on Cursed I am carrying about 2 tons worth of stuff with my little Asura. That’s like ant strength.
Yet with all that strength, invisible walls preclude jumping over certain rocky areas no higher than the ones you jumped over getting there…

Is it wishful thinking for a new explorable area, or are the two western-most dots to the WEST of Brisban and Metrica and NORTH of Rata Sum?
EDIT: Dry Top and Ettin’s Back, maybe (from GW1)?
(edited by KarateKid.5648)
Darker nights would be nice. However I wonder how that would effect WvW…
Therefore add a slider, so noone has to use it if he don’t want to.
No, that’s ridiculous. Practically no one would if it gave a visual disadvantage… so the thought of adding a slider that only a fraction of a percent would use seems like it fails the risk/reward sniff test.
I venture many PVE’ers would. Where PVP/WvW are concerned, though, yah they’d ignore the slider.
Can’t post in suggestions for some reason… the maintenance, perhaps?
Anywhere the sigil or seraph are gathered with you in large numbers, you wind up interacting with them mid-fight and popping up a dialog that gets in the way.
A toggle to ignore NPC interaction would preclude this (i.e. right before an event, you could toggle it off).
This does feel like a shady advertising tactic to me, although I agree that any TP trader/user worth his salt isn’t going to fall for it. I’d like John Smith to comment on this if he can though; is this something ANet supports/frowns on as it masks legitimate demand and therefore prevents the TP page from displaying genuine information to players?
I’d be more willing to believe some state actor using the game as a training ground.
But I am paranoid.
lol!
/however many characters remaining
Creature comforts, to an extent I’m being liberal with my use of this term, the context here being relative to things that make life in GW2 a little more convenient and easy or simply just nicer!
This is not a HAS TO HAPPEN IMMEDIATELY post. But the the process by which we go about doing some things makes one let out an inconvenient sigh as you perform the task or actions required or even the process that your involved in at that time.
However I had made a post similar to this nearly 6 months ago unfortunately none of the recommendations previously listed have come to light.
To be more specific I’ll list some things. I’m looking for people to add their own ideas and perhaps comment on how much you desire these or other creature comforts ingame.
Save/Swap traits:
Having to zone to LA (or where ever), pay money and then rebuild ones traits over and over. People should be able to save builds and swap them relatively easily (even at cost).Guild Halls:
A place to meet and greet guildies before events/activites, easily accessible merchants etc there (so you don’t clog up WvW queues).Commander pin:
It’s a blue taco you follow, that’s all. Needs to be more useful when leading the map in WvW and you need to be able to set up private pins for guildies only. It needs to do A LOT more than what it currently does.Waypoint:
Map>Hearts of the Mists>LA>etc.
It feels like a small grind with load screens and wait times. Make all major cities free to travel to, its the same thing, just without the load screens.Weapon Swap:
Keep current weapon swap system ‘IN’ combat but have multiple weapon sets that you are free to swap to ‘OUT’ of combat. Engineers and ele’s too. Opening inventory and manual clicking things is not ideal.Home Instances:
I slide this in here too, I just expected it to be far more personalised than what it currently is.Trading Post:
Better filtering system (light, medium, heavy etc).To reiterate i like the new content we receive, however I am starting to desire the above mentioned things more than the latest shiny.
Playing off your trait swap thought – a “favorites” system to save frequent buys/sells you do often in the BLTP.
Been this way for about a week that I noticed. I am speculating, but related to DDOS mitigation?

I’ve always been charged sales tax on gem purchases and don’t know why there’s been an inconsistency with yourself. I live in a state where I pay sales tax on everything, so this didn’t seem out of the ordinary.
After some research it appears that states don’t require sellers to charge sales tax for goods and services sold in states where they have no physical presence. If purchases are made in states that normally would have a sales tax associated with goods and services then that state of the buyer does require them to self report their sales taxes and pay them in their own due course at tax time.
If you haven’t been getting charged sales tax and you live in a state that has sales taxes you’re still liable for them when you file your anual taxes!
If you’re in a sales tax exempt state (Oregon, Delaware, Montana, Alaska, or New Hampshire)(VA does have sales tax) you don’t need to be worried about sales tax just yet. If proposed legislation known as the Market Fairness Act of 2013 is passed there will be a uniform method of taxation on all online purchases regardless of the location of the buyer or seller.
Why even tax online purchases?
States generate revenue through taxes to run public services, pay the wages of people who keep the social infostructure running, law enforcement, medical services, social services, and many other needs. Sales tax can account for up to one third of a states revenue. Using online purchases as a loophole to cheaper prices takes that money away from the government coffers, puts local business at a disadvantage, and can be perceived as tax evasion of a sort.

If you don’t want to pay cash for gems that’s fine. If you don’t like the items in the gem store, that’s up to you. If it’s a budget issue we all understand. If you don’t want to support a business because of the way they operate we’re all entitled to do so and it’s our power as consumers.
If you don’t want to buy gems cause you’re paying taxes then you better move to a tax free state or boycott buying everything else. Saying you’re not buying gems because you’re getting itemized taxes seems ill informed and immature.
This is precisely why, and +1 for a fantastic write-up!
For what it’s worth, on Wednesday I had a surprisingly low ecto salvage rate. Yesterday, I had an abnormally high.
>_>
I’ve seen similar results, but I didn’t track them to see if there’s a pattern. Some days/times seem to yield well, others are horrendous.
It’s just RNG.
It’s natural for people/animals to try to find a pattern even if one doesn’t exist.

Yup, Skinner was clearly seeing patterns where none existed
Aberrant is probably talking about the pidgeons, not the behaviorist.
I think he was being silly :P
I was – but there IS something to [anytime you observe something, you change it].
Looking at the data:

The demand is slowly falling down because it takes on average about a month to craft ascended armor. With many already completing the task, they have to need for excess they bought, therefore unloading extra supplies on the Trading Post. I think we’ll starting to see the balancing coming into place after the initial rush.

And if you check the graph on spidy, its a text book example of how a market finds its equilibrium again.
While supply:demand ratio was at 1:3 around patch day 5 weeks ago, it was 1:1 on friday with supply now higher than demand.
Price will go down until we get relevant news about future updates.
Yah, yesterday I was looking at numerous materials – most of which were realigning to what they were in like october-ish – it really is a bit creepy how that happens without prompting.
Sell everybody, sell!!!
Seriously though, wasn’t that the point of this post? What you are like seeing is people creating hard liquidity in anticipation of the new patch. If precursors tank, you have gold to buy lots of them. If newly introduced “insert product X” starts out low, you stock up on those etc.
People are not anticipating a drop on ectos. If anything, ectos will go through the roof once precursor crafting goes live.
Actually, if any manipulation was intended, it was for ppl to buy the heck out of them… I got stacks up there that are tens of thousands of sales away – so I am watching them sit still gathering mold.
My questions were covered above – just posting here for tally purposes
1) Tengu
2) Centaurs
3) Crystal Desert
Better would be to teleport some player from random locations in Tyria – that’d be hilarious … the first time

I had forgotten spidy and couldn’t see supply/demand history (must have accidentally dragged only like an hour somewhere) on gw2trader well enough – thanks!
(edited by KarateKid.5648)
Where the heck did this supply of ecto suddenly come from?
For weeks, people have been salvaging fodder off the TP, but since like Sunday or Monday, supply has been exploding!
Or did demand just fall off?
I’ve parked every character I’ve made in Rata Sum for a year now. For me, it’s less the crafting and more the close arrangement of the TP, Bank, and Guild Bank. Every place else is just a slog OR is dripping with lag (except the TP near Mount Maelstrom – I’d park there permanently except the BLTC NPC is bugged 50% of the time and won’t talk to you).
I’ve seen this topic before, but haven’t seen anything recently.
Is this something I can fix client side OTHER THAN exiting to desktop and relaunching?
It happens once or twice a week, so it is not game-killing, but if there’s a trick short of exiting the client I’d love to know.
I play mostly arcane classes (Ele and Necro primarily, a splash of Mesmer, and once in a full moon, a thief). It happens all over the place (no specific region or map), and again – not frequently.
Let’s calm down a bit.
I’ve already had a long post explaining why TP traders are good for the game as well as limited, if you haven’t seen it, you should look it up.As far as other ideas like the GW2 economy has rampant inflation or there are other virtual economists online that don’t approve of this economy, that’s simply not even close to true.
…On a side note, is there any chance you are able to provide a CPI?
Or some tips on those skills required? I need me some of those!
How about a normal trade like in ALL the other MMos Anet?
Oh, you mean so that we will see a MASSIVE increase of scams?
precisely this.
Its broken for him cause cant get over the so called TRINITY! Gw2 was successful getting rid of this crap and it is working as intended….
Yah, but noone told the people designing the bosses. Succeeded with changing our perspective, failed to convince the bosses to change.
rofl, that’s two completely 180-degree different answers. Glad we cleared that up

The biggest difference between real world and game economics: in the game gold is literally pulled out of thin air. …
Where does fiat currency come from?
insert Morpheus “you think that’s air” meme here
:D
Its been said that the evidence of a thriving economy is a healthy middle class.
I don’t think defining “middle class” as a certain amount of gold in the bank makes any sense. For me having 100g in the bank is pointless – I would have bought other things I wanted long before I let it accrue that high. Unless you’re saving up for something why let it sit there? You don’t get interest on it.
I’m gold poor, but I have lots of nice stuff. I’ve got characters fully kitted out in gear that is effective for the things I like to do, I’ve got the skins I want on most of my characters and I’ve got the dyes I want. I even spent some gold (maybe too much) discovering every cooking recipe so that even when my collection tabs are full my discovery pane is empty (don’t laugh I had a lot of fun with that :P). I don’t feel poor even though I don’t have a big pile of gold. I feel solidly middle class.
You don’t need a big pile of gold to enjoy the game, any more than you need to be at the top of the leader boards. Some folks have the goal of having a lot of gold or making it to the top of the leader boards or of having multiple legendaries, which is fine, but that doesn’t mean it is the yardstick that should be used to measure the entire player population.
Poor/middle class/rich are “standard of living” concepts, not amounts of money concepts (even though the subdivisions are typically based on income). My understanding of it is that the classifications are really a function of what percentage of your income you have to spend on necessary things (food, shelter, transportation to your job) versus things that make life better (entertainment, conveniences, vacations) and what quality of those items you can afford (do you have to live in a slum, or do you live in a house in the suburbs).
I have to agree with this. I never have more than, say, 20-100 GP (other than when I was shooting for the “Golden” title) because I am always either buying gear, bribing for influence (2-person guild), or re-investing it.
I DO occasionally get ticked off when I blow a bunch of cash on like leveling a character via crafting and the market goes haywire like it did a couple weeks ago and I’m outta expendable income
Money’s supposed to be a tool, so I use it. This is not real life – there’s a foreseeable end to this game within, what, 5-10 years? When the game rolls up the sidewalks in the future (not doom’ing here, it always happens), I’d rather I had a good time with the cash than to have ground out millions just to have it go “poof” in the bank.
This bug is back – white heavy headgear – thus far between 22 and 25. Really annoying f a purposeful gold sink, but looks more like a bug.
EDIT: And white axes, same level range.
(edited by KarateKid.5648)
1: The gem store is more reasonable:
-Less rip-off prices (500 gems ~£5 for ONE piece of poorly made armour, 1000 gems ~£11 for ONE unlimited gathering tool, 800 gems £8.50 for a mere 250 stack increase. All of these are far too high.) …
First, I agree with you – I haven’t bought much anything but a couple keys in like the second week I played precisely because of the prices. However, the lack of price reduction so far proves SOMEONE’s paying these prices; so by definition, it’s not “too high”. Just too high for some of us to justify.
Some of the elder characters had a hard time chewing the solid form.
Made my evening!
