if they hold true to form for other hotfixen, it’s usually the next afternoon (not counting the goat rope that the last LS update was… that was way more hotfixin’ than usual)
…
2. Give me an option not to pick up banners placed by other players
…
And an option not to pick up bundles (especially on engineer)
And an option not to accidentally talk to NPC’s
Would be kind of neat if they would come up with stuff we could do to help with rebuilding and base it on player participation – the more who work on stuff the faster the area gets cleaned up. It could be a variety of thing including stuff for the daily and could encompass a variety of things from going to another area to collect stuff to rebuild and bringing it to an npc to going around and encouraging a certain number of rebuilders, tackling looters, getting enough folk to work on a certain area to show an improvement, etc.
Oh no, tower of nightmares effect all over again… lots of progress the first week, none thereafter.

OK so my bad for not checking in with the forums to know that Found possession vendor would be going away..
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/news/Update-Alliance-Supplies-Found-Items/first#post3750166But it has been stated that spinal Blade back piece would be not only creatable but upgradeable all the way after the event…
But wait The found possession vendor is gone, so those Possessions I was saving til I had enough gold to buy the book to Gift of blades recipe for slightly cheaper so I can afford other stuff as I’m a casual gamer and don’t have but tons of gold laying around.
Anet, if you are pulling something, that was kind of implied would exist after an event, you should really notify people in game, or at least in the launcher notices.
As I am married, and have a job and a life and don’t have time to spend lots of time here, I come to the forums for 2 reasons only, find specific information, aka ask a question, or complain about a specific issue, Which I will check the post only a couple of times before I give up on it due that time thing. I am not going to read through 1000s of posts, or pop in to see if there is some note. I will often pull up the updates and links in the launcher, because it is right in front of me.
Gone for the moment – make a habit of checking during other living story and special event vendors, though… they have a habit of making those last few widgets-of-last-month trade-able for whatever the widget of the week is.
Also – watch for the Bazaar to come back around. Those people have EVERYTHING in those baskets. One of ‘em had Wirt’s leg in there last time around!

yah, but THREE GREENS and about 75s of MATERIALS!
So, am I the only one thrown by how weak Braham is shown in today’s new scene? He broke his leg. Big deal. Why is he still milking it?
Side note, I did like Taimi and his interaction, was sorta cute. Despite the “uh-huh”’s.
I wish Braham could be shown stronger. I know he’s just a kid, but Rox is too, pretty much. And she’s shown in a very different light.
Braham’s got an adopted kid sister in the future…
I only want ONE thing: toroidal progression. Because Horizontal and Vertical Progression are so last week.
Hey all,
Just checking in to let everyone know we believe we have identified the issue and we are working on getting it in the next hotfix. If this changes, I will let everyone know.
I also want to let you know that uninstalling/reinstalling the client will not fix this crash, so I just ask that everyone hang tight until we can get this fix rolled out to you all.
I appreciate everyone’s patience as I know how frustrating this can be.
-Matt
Thanks again, Matt!
Thanks, Matt. I’ll be refreshing this page in hopes of a fix!
I picture Fred doing that thing Zuckerberg was doing at the end of “The Social Network”
Starts around 45 secs…
Hey all,
I just wanted to jump in and let everyone know we are looking into this now. I will update this thread when I have more information.
Thank you very much!
I’ve had it off and on for several days. Restarting Firefox (didn’t have to clear anything in disk cache) fixed it for me.
Upgrade to 64-Bit Windows .. thats the only “real” solution.
As a computer security professional, I truly appreciate all you Windows users… thanks for the job security!
+1
my client keeps freezing up, and i need to force quit to get the window closed.

Solution: stop playing wow.
:D sorry, the smart-aleck gene’s working overtime today.
KarateKid? Sorry, what do you mean?
Was being funny – anet’s got something left open in the compile that’s causing it to spin off process/resource requests in a fashion that won’t end.
Race condition to exhausting resources within the code.
Typically caused by a simple typo.
Apple system log from time game was running to crash is too long to post.
If necessary I can break it down to more usable size, please let me know if that would be needed. I also have the File System repair log as well if required.
What I did find interesting was the Kernel log. There was reference to CPU notifications. With past problems on OS machines, there was some question as to whether it was CPU related, so I include that below.
There was also speculation as to overheating issues, but as it ran fine yesterday and then not today, I don’t see how that could be a problem.

hehehe someone forgot an “endif” or “fi” someplace.
More info if it helps:
TOP (errr, Activity Monitor) shows idle 130-ish% CPU at login screen (obv. CPU cores affecting math).
Once I login, Rata Sum graphics, etc start loading as normal (CPU shows 150-ish%).
Within 60 secs after all the graphics finish loading, CPU spikes to 360%, eveything freezes, then client closes to desktop with no return error.
Yup – broke muh Mac, but Linux under wine does NOT crash like this (if that helps narrow it down at all).
MacBook Pro, 15-inch, Mid 2012
Standing still in Rata Sum, TP’ing stuff… might make it 2 minutes before crash.
ummm, what’d I miss? Nothing in News/Announcements, Release Notes, or obvious in DevTracker… gahh!
EDIT: Never mind – found it – For those who don’t read all the fansites – it’s in Guru, not official forums… no idea how frustrating that is.

Many of you may blissfully go about your lives in Tyria seeing those feathery white birds fly by. They deliver your mail and then you think nothing more of the matter. I, my self included, thought nothing. They were just pretty little white doves fluttering through our lives and hearts, delivering joy. But what do they really look like and what are they really up to with those beady little eyes, that you probably haven’t seen yet until you scroll further down this page?
Recent photo evidence has shown them to be nothing more than common pigeons. Those same disgusting, diseased, flying rats that infested Lion’s Arch streets, until Scarlet blew them up. This of course has raised health issues, the pigeons not Scarlet, for all Tyrian customers of the Black Lion Trade Company. Many have begun to ask is this hacking cough really due to Scarlet’s miasma or is it these winged disease bags? We sought out Evon Gnashblade in hopes of him shedding some light on this issue. But he refused to make any comments at this time and then started making shifty deals with a small golem. Probably helping as it kills us all in some golem uprising or something.
Next time you choose to send a package via BLTC Mail and Delivery Services think again. And if not for your health then the safety of your children. Who are probably still in Lion’s Arch, getting blasted at by lasers, because they had to take a break… because they couldn’t just be carried out when their morale bar reached zero!
I’ve been playing for a year and never drew the connection! I see those swooping in and out of Rata Sum’s Accountancy Waypoint area and had no idea that was what they were doing!
Derrp.
Just work some overtime and convert it to gems then to gold..
FLSA Exempt employees UNITE!
This blatant W2W has to stop (work to win)!
I think y’all are talking about two separate items referred to as “power cores”?
Or I am confused.
I think ANet makes a lot of money on the gem store. Why offer things of value when you can get money my offering things of less value.
From a business perspective, if you can get 1 guy to buy the same item 4 times, you’re better off than if 3 people buy it once.
Agreed – to some extent. But the only things APPROACHING price-value equity on there are bank, stack, etc upgrades (and even those are too high-priced IMHO). NOTHING right now compels me to buy at current prices.
If they don’t wanna add new items (coding), just bump those prices down a bit.
I don’t suspect it will happen until people spending RL money (not gems from gold) slack a bit, though.
I want the ability to play the game in a trinity style if I want to. I want to be able to have a character that can take hits all day long… another that destroys targets in the blink of an eye… another that buffs other players stats to absurd levels… another that keeps our energy and HP up… and even another that simply locks enemies down for imminent doom.
I want ALL the varying playstyles that a more rigid class structure facilitates.
And I want it without content that forces the tank+healer+DPS group structure.
GW2 has the content in spades… I’m waiting for a new way to play it.
…while in GW2 everyone could play the game from A to Z without requiring any help. Too bad, it’s an MMO…
The game doesn’t need that “holy trinity”, but it sure needs some variation on gameplay…
Tad overstated – there are places in this game totally inaccessible to those of us who solo a lot. But to have required grouping in order to play the entire game would have precluded some of us from buying to play.
…
Oh yeah right, this is where you say I shouldn’t be playing for loot but should be playing for fun instead.
Actually, while I wouldn’t say you “should” or “shouldn’t” do anything; the reality is there’s truth in that statement – the loot’s (including materials) tweaked to so low a drop rate in most everywhere in this game that playing for loot’s frustrating.
Just keep in mind folks saying this (I’ve done it) are usually thinking a person who is asking is relatively new and they’re just trying to help.
there’s a train in harathi?
Harathi has the single best meta event chain in the game. I try to run it at least once a week just for fun.
It isn’t a “train” where you run from champ to champ over and over, it is a chain of events that culminates in a world boss fight.
Indeed – and the supply bags from like #1 and #3 of that event chain yield kittentons of cotton, which happens to have decent demand right now.
I think that event chain is the one in which all my alts spend the majority of their time because there are so many benefits to it. I’d love to know if there’s one comparable to it at higher levels.
I’ll be the one to say it – I think MMO’s in general are on their way out. I can see a migration back to a hybrid B2P+ store sales model like GW2 has done (only heavier on B2P, relying on expansions for revenue stream).
I’m not saying all current MMO models are going to die immediately, but right now it would appear the only way to make money from them is to hype, release, get two years or so of store sales out of the community, then let it wind down.
This has become a formulaic thing and all MMO’s right now look like each other with slightly different mixes and matches of features.
I suspect the players are going to get tired of this (many already are), and it will go back to models that result in more stable, higher-quality games.
What I don’t understand is they made a big song and dance about “no trinity”…..but then go and make certain classes that give more healing to others…..and tanks.
When I started the game I was under the impression we would all simply have our own healing and thats it, or perhaps all could heal team mates the same at least.
“Look no trinity…..kinda”
This is my discovery after a couple months of playing… the Trinity still somewhat exists, it’s just not as in-your-face… and it creates confusion among the average MMO player as a result. They are trained to the Trinity, so they build to it.
I am not a fan of the Trinity per se, but everyone arguing it causes a migration to a unified build isn’t paying attention – so’s Anet’s strategy. There’s still build-of-the-month club going on among the MMO crowd.
Then there’s the rest of us who are weird… AND the inevitable drive to mediocrity that comes from Anet’s ideas. I built my elementalist to my own specs focused on a mix of survivability and DPS because I solo a lot and stay above-ground vs. dungeon content.
I like the fact my ele can take hits from a champ long enough for her moderate DPS to take effect. However, in those rare instances where I have to party with folks (dungeons, more than anything), I noticed a few things:
Her survivability is nullified at the dungeon bosses after the second dodge is done (i.e. I gotta back off from my normal moderately-in-the-boss’-face) tactics.
Because the majority of heavy MMO players still think Trinity, they also know every build-of-the-month and assume I’m one of them. And they get surprised when I ask in party chat “what skills do you all expect me to have in this path?” They also get surprised when I start using skills I’ve actually buffed via traits that “noone else ever uses”.
She’s painfully locked into pseudo-mediocrity – this is due to MY choice in trying to build the balance the way Anet described early on (i.e. one character can do everything), but that also builds characters into “no one character can do ANYTHING (in particular)”.
Conceptually, my character is prolly (and this isn’t measurable – just a “feel” thing): RELATIVE to all other characteristics we could outline for her performance – 5% better at DPS, 5% more effective at survivability/mobility. Those are noticeable, but barely. I could shift her to average survivability/mobility and she’d be at 10% better at DPS than everything else.
As a contrast, my necro is probably 7% better at survivability than everything else she can do, and 3% better at DPS (I like frakkin’ condi, but pay for it).
I hope that explanation made sense.
What I’d like to see is Anet bump those numbers up a bit so where her increase exists is more than just slightly noticeable.
I tried to answer this topic yesterday, but couldn’t figure out what my “problem” was with the word “expansion” (because I share OP’s curiousity) well enough to formulate a thought…
I finally figured it out.
The player community doesn’t have a single definition of “expansion”
To me, that means something comparable to GW1’s Factions and Nightfall… those weren’t just additional explorable lands, they felt like a completely new game.
I presume those took about 1-2 years of work on the backend to create (not time between releases… I mean invested development WORK).
And this is where I get wishy-washy on the “expansion” demands – I want a real expansion that has overarching changes on the base game like those two did.
There’s not been enough time, I would also assume, to do an actual expansion justice. If they release add-on content of the smaller scale, awesome… but calling that kind of release an expansion will cheapen the word over time.
Maybe the OP’s frustration is because he’s/she’s thinking of the typical MMO “expansion” that’s underwhelming… in which case, that’s why I balk at that word being bandied about, as well.
I see these kind of threads a lot, but no one ever says what clothes they are wearing or what dyes they use.
Anyway, after the new makeover kit, I’ve manged to make my thief look rather dashing in the moonlight. Clothes: anonymity hood (not shown), duelist paldrons, gloves, and chest, whispers legs and boots. Dyes: Abyss, Grapefruit.
…annnnd, there’s Ken
Ehh beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Congrats on getting a character you love!
For me, it’s really really hard to make a human female I consider beautiful, because all the faces look like dolls and nearly all the bodies look anorexic.
My female norn:
HAH! That’s one of the reasons I like my Norn female so much – she looks like a normal person – not anorexic, not fat… just, like, normal.
Looks like one of the many Barbie dolls out there.
I was thinking closer to “Kewpie” than Barbie, but close enough.
Just dropping in as a representative of the miniscule Linux-user populace to throw all my support around Mac client optimizations (because those aid us as well due to Wine). When the Mac client takes a hit during a patch, we do, too.
Solidarity my Mac brethren and sistren!
Like penguin said engineer sounds the most interesting to you so far. Aside from feeling underpowered, it’s still very early on in the game at a low level. But as you unlock more stuff such as kits, turrets, other utilities like rocket boots and slick shoes you’ll have more fun with it I can guarantee. I thought the same way when I used elementalist as I was leveling up, but after having all my professions at level 80, elementalist is so much fun to play for me. So just keep pushing forward and see if you enjoy it more. It isn’t a race to get to max level anyway ^^
Having played an elementalist, this is dead-on. I HATED every stinking minute up to the mid-60’s, maybe? She’s now my main. Besides the fast-paced play style (Dagger/Dagger), I liked the complexity of learning what element and skill to combine with another in rapid succession.
The engineer is close to that with kit choices,
I’m 65 engie now, though, so I’m just getting to the point where he might be a close second… or surpass the ele, we’ll see.
Simple human psychology. People feel that zones in which they are level 80 are endgame zones.
If you are downscaled you feel weaker. It might not be true or even the opposite, but that’s just how the brain works.I might agree if the endgame zones were where people tend to congregate, but they’re not. Orr is a ghost town (appropriately enough), for example.
And southsun never has more than 2-3 people in the entire zone (anecdotal evidence, granted).
… but yet far from the rewards of the lvl 80 areas….
If you mean loot/items of high value, I’d like to know where these areas are… mithril is SO not rewarding, nor is a handfulla blues and a green.
(edited by KarateKid.5648)
Only way I’d like to see this implemented is that if you ‘divorce’, all your gold, badges and other currencies get thrown into a pool then divided 70/30 for the woman/man, just like in real life.
One word. Prenup.
oh man, there’s profit to be had there… can Anet release the lawyer profession about a patch before the marriage feature is released, please?
Well the Bazaar should happen again soon. (Like all yearly events)
I bet you would be able to get the opportunity to receive it again during that event.
I didn’t realize that was annual! Fantastic!
If this is your first character, go huntsman/leatherworker, as they will be a bit more useful to you while leveling… and yes, you can/will get enough materials to craft as you go.
If you already have materials to craft because you’ve played other characters, it really doesn’t matter.
Anecdotally – It seems my leather/cloth workers all get metal armor and weapons from mob drops and vice-versa for my weapon/armor crafters… RNG hates me. YMMV.
The Gods doesn’t seem to be aware of the existence of the Dragons though.
I thought I was the only one who wondered about this…
Tobias what do you mean “few”, let me introduce you to….. TRAHEARNE!!!!!!!
But on a serious note – I’m pretty sure Majory is oblivious to Kasmeer’s affection. I always got vibes from Ellen Kiel – so maybe when Majory rejects her she can go off with Kiel into the sunset. (The short story where Ellen greets Kasmeer as she arrives on Southsun…. Am I the only one who got those vibes?)
No, but I always had a suspicion about Kiel and Evon on the downlow.
Oh my… Kurodius, you deserve a spot in ArenaNet’s Living Story team.
Indeed, +1 kurodius. Granted, we’ve not seen the finale, but your ending would have been much more satisfying.
Let the other members of the party go first
I noticed the dat file is at 17GB. I didn’t pay attention to how large it was back before Living Story started, but is Scarlett’s content a sizeable part of that?
Will that be culled out of the dat file over time?
This isn’t a major pain point, since I got another 500GB or so free… more a curiosity when I saw the huge filesize.
This was just MADE for my Norn ele!
Masochist much?
Although, this is coming from the person who tested accessing a Citrix Virtual Desktop from a phone once just to see if it would work…
Black Lion Keys are 125 gems, or $1.56.
If you can farm 3 keys in an hour, that means you are paying yourself $4.68 per hour. Had you instead worked an hour of overtime at a minimum wage job you would have earned $10.88 for your hour and could have purchased those 3 keys with the same amount of time spent (1 hour) and had $6.20 left over to do anything you wanted with.
If people want to farm the keys, it’s really their loss.
Yah, but there’s not a SINGLE jumping puzzle at work. I know, I’ve looked!
Quite frankly you aren’t trying hard enough.
I’ve been trying to make the accountant cubicle to copier jump for about two weeks and just can’t do it…not to mention its totally infuriating when Johnson from marketing makes the jump at lunch without breaking a sweat…pretty sure he was simultaneously running sales projections in his head. I swear if the boss doesn’t nerf that jump in the next restructure, I’m going to rage quit for sure.
There’s a map glitch getting in the way. If you look up, there’s a texture seam where the fire extiguisher graphic is rendered. Move just slightly left or right of it, and you can make the jump.
noob.
Zerker builds are used because it’s what works best with the way the game was designed.
This is the problem with the zerker crowd; they’ve deluded themselves into believing that the entire game was designed around a single stat set.
Yah, but cranked has a point. Look at the ratio of Zerker drops from monsters compared to other pre/suffixes… it would appear Arenanet’s loot tables agree.
Disclaimer: I have not a single zerker build in character stable… not supporting the build, just calling out anecdotal data.
Active damage mitigation…
I’m not wading into this argument, but are you a marketing person IRL?
